Twitter Is Trying Really Hard to Get That Rihanna & Lupita Nyong'o Movie Made, & It Might Actually Be Working

Remember that photo of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o at the Miu Miu fashion show in Paris back in 2014? If you didn't, you do now. It just resurfaced last week, and since then, the pic has gone viral because as one Twitter user suggested, "Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and Lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans."

Obviously the internet was on board because it's such a great idea. Well, you better get ready: According to Bustle, this movie actually might happen.

It looks like fans are piecing the project together on Twitter, and it’s turning out to be a lot easier than expected!

Someone tweeted at Issa Rae, creator and star of HBO's Insecure, to see if she'd write the script. And she was totally for it, tweeting back a cat GIF to show her excitement.

Okay, so we have a screenwriter. How about a director? Another fan had that covered, tweeting at Academy Award-winner Ava DuVernay. She was completely in too!

Other actresses, like Yara Shahidi, have even expressed their interest. As for our leading ladies? Both Rihanna and Lupita are all for it.

So what is Hollywood waiting for?! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for this.

People Are Turning the Unicorn Frappuccino Into Nail Art, Of Course

People will go nuts for just about anything these days, and the Unicorn Frappuccino from Starbucks is no exception. Whatever your opinions on the sugary, over-hyped drink, I think most of us would agree that it's not worth all the attention.

But that doesn't stop people from going completely insane, which may include side effects such as excessive Instagramming, Unicorn Frappuccino hair, and now, Unicorn Frappuccino nail art.

Unfortunately, I don't hate the trend, and I have to admit that it does make the fraps extra Instagrammable (aka more #basic).

However, as a previous Starbucks barista, I simply cannot condone the obsession. One barista went so far as to make his views about the absurd frap public in this viral video:

So please, keep this basic AF trend to your nails only (bc it does look pretty cool), and save your baristas the trouble. They (and everyone else in the world) will thank you later.

5 Overnight Beauty Tips to Wake Up Prettier

Being a busy collegiette, you probably don’t have as much time as you’d like in your day to spend on your beauty routine. Some mornings you might only have time to brush your hair and swipe on some lip balm before running out the door. Wouldn’t it be great to just wake up looking refreshed and ready to go? Well, we spoke to a few collegiettes to talk about five beauty tips you can add to your nightly routine in order to wake up looking and feeling #flawless every morning, because they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!

1. Give your skin some daily TLC

Skin is very delicate, especially on your face. Think about it; our faces battle a lot every day, whether it be harsh winds, harmful rays from the sun or pollution. Before you hit the sheets, be sure to spend time on cleansing your skin and ridding it of all the dirt and gunk that can get caught up in your pores. Emily Schmidt, a freshman at Stanford University, offers up her tips on keeping her skin feeling fresh and clean by the AM.

“I’ve found that my skin is the best after I wash it, use a clay mask, then moisturize the night before,” says Emily. “If I don’t follow that routine, I tend to break out or have dry skin.” Washing your skin at night allows you to rid your face of everything your skin encountered through the day. You wouldn’t sleep in the clothes you wore all day, would you? Fighting breakouts and preventing dry skin while you catch up on Zs sounds like a win-win to us.

And please, whatever you do, don’t fall sleep in your makeup! Your skin needs time at night to breathe, and falling asleep with your makeup on can clog your pores. Following your own cleansing routine will ensure that all traces of makeup are removed and you can wake up in the morning with refreshed, beautiful skin. And moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Whether you have oily or dry skin, moisturizing keeps your skin looking soft and healthy. You’ll thank us later.

2. Change your pillowcase often

Even though it’s probably the last thing on your to-do list, you should probably change your pillowcase tonight. Why? Because any dirt or oil from your hair and skin comes into contact with that pillowcase, as well as dead skin cells and sweat. All of that nastiness can build up and come into contact with your freshly-washed face, sabotaging your beauty sleep. *Shudders*

Changing your pillowcase every week (or at least flipping it to the other side in-between washes) before bed is a simple trick to waking up with better skin. Kaylie VanOrd, a junior at Carthage College, says she noticed a huge difference when she started cleaning her pillowcase more often. “I have several pillowcases with me at school, so I always have a clean one in rotation,” says Kaylie. “After changing mine at least once a week for a few weeks, I started to notice less breakouts on the sides of my face.” Simple tricks before bed can lead to drastic beauty results, and this one is so easy, you have no excuses.

3. Add some coconut oil to your routine

There’s a reason why coconut oil is all the rage right now. It’s a fantastic smelling and inexpensive tool that can play so many roles in beautifying yourself. Chelsea Jackson, a junior at Iowa State University, suggests adding the miracle oil to your nightly beauty routine to wake up with gorgeous, shiny hair.

“When I had longer hair, I used to lather my hair with a healthy amount of coconut oil before bed,” says Chelsea. “I’d wrap my hair in an old t-shirt so I didn’t coat my hair in coconut oil while I slept, but it helped make my hair smoother and shinier in the morning,” Chelsea explains. “When I’d wake up and shower, I would just rinse it out (no shampoo or conditioner until the next day).”

Coconut oil has been known to add some extreme shine to your locks, so adding it to your hair before bedtime and finding out which way coconut oil works best for you is a fantastic way to wake up with selfie-worthy hair!

4. Hydrate your bod and your skin

Sometimes all it takes is the little things! Tessa McKenna, a junior at Carthage College, shares her tips on the little things she does before bed to ensure a better morning.

“At night I always make sure to put on Chapstick and drink a full glass of water,” says Tessa. “Staying hydrated and taking care of my lips helps me feel prettier in the morning because my lips look fuller and less dry. Making sure I’m hydrated is especially important because of all the hours I’m not getting water while I sleep.”

Although these tips may seem like little fixes at first, they can add up to some great results over time.

5. Catch some major ZZZs

This is perhaps the simplest beauty trick of them all, and yet it’s so difficult to come by. All-nighters full of cram sessions, papers and other responsibilities are pretty typical for collegiettes, but they rob us of precious sleep that is necessary for not only functioning like a normal human being, but also looking your best. Lauryn Higgins, a graduate student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, stresses her tip on getting enough rest at night to wake up feeling gorgeous.

“I know it’s simple, but I’ve found when I get at least eight hours of sleep, I just look better,” explains Lauryn. “My skin glows, my eyes are brighter and I just feel more beautiful.” A lack of sleep can cause a number of bad things for your appearance, including bags under your eyes (which unfortunately are not designer). Sleep is essential to handle all that we do in college and beyond, so it’s not only important to make sure you’re getting sleep, but that you’re also getting enough.

With these simple yet effective tips implemented in your bedtime beauty routine, you can take your beauty sleep to the next level and wake up looking like your best, gorgeous self every day!

In an interview with Refinery29 in 2015, Rihanna announced to the world that one day, she will have her own beauty line. "It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve always had so much on my hands. But, this time, I’m going to make sure it happens. I'm going to find some time between albums and fragrance to do that. I promise," she said.

Well, folks. The time has come. According to Cosmopolitan, at a Fenty Puma event in Los Angeles on April 18, a fan asked Rihanna what highlighter she was wearing because she was literally glowing. In response to this question, RiRi said, "it's mine. It's a secret.... until September." Cue all the screams.

Luckily, someone got the whole thing on tape so you can witness the magic for yourself.

21 Things Only Girls with Terrible Time Management Skills Understand

$

0

There's always that one person who seems to have their life perfectly in order and starts every assignment as soon as it’s given. No pressure to get it done, no procrastination and no need to pull all-nighters. But if you’re like a lot of us, your college experience has probably been a little different. Here are 21 things only girls with terrible time management skills will understand.

1. You always think you have more time than you really do

You might even know you only have two hours to do something, but you overestimate how much you can actually get done in those two hours and end up overwhelmed at the last minute.

2. Everyone who knows you expects you to be late to everything

People have stopped expecting you to actually be on time for events, and they’ve probably stopped being upset when you’re not. They’ve accepted the fact that you’re going to be late no matter what you say.

3. So sometimes they give you the wrong time to try to trick you into being on time

If they tell you to be there at 6:30, you’ll probably roll in right as it’s starting around 7, which is good enough for them.

4. Sunday afternoons are the worst part of your week

All of the work you didn’t do all week gets moved to Sunday afternoon…and when Sunday afternoon comes, you realize you’ve made a huge mistake.

5. Sometimes you do things so quickly you can’t even pretend it’s good work

At this point, you’re just glad you got it done. Just give me the C.

6. You live off of coffee or energy drinks

They’re the only way you can stay awake long enough to get everything done.

7. People always tell you to just do things earlier, and you look at them like…

Do they think you haven’t tried that already?!

8. You put too much faith in future you

You always think future you is this magical being that will get everything done for you, so why worry about it now? But you're wrong. Future you is just as bad at managing her time as present you, yet you always fall into this trap.

9. You put off so many small tasks at one time that you can’t devote your full attention to any of them when you try to be productive

Is it possible to type a paper, read a chapter, eat and shower all at the same time?

10. You’re much better at planning things out than actually executing them

Your plans are beautifully written down in your planner and impeccably organized, but when it comes to actually getting them done in a timely manner, you fall short. Like, really short.

11. You get way too much satisfaction out of crossing one tiny task off your to-do list

Nevermind the fact that your to-do list is two pages long. You just crossed off the most menial task on it, which means you’re making progress.

12. You’ve been so overwhelmed by your procrastination that you took a nap instead to “recharge”

But really it was just you continuing to hide from your responsibilities.

13. You pick the worst time to clean out your closet or clean your room

Sure, you have a million other things you could be doing right now, but all the sudden you felt like doing some spring cleaning so you’re going with it.

14. You dread being assigned large projects that can’t be pulled off in one night

You mean you actually have to manage your time well enough to divide this project into smaller parts?

15. You give gifts three weeks after you were supposed to give them

Happy really belated birthday?

16. You’ve gotten away with putting things off and getting them done at the last minute so many times it’s your go-to strategy

You know you can get it done at the last minute, so subconsciously you continue your same destructive behavior because it’s worked for you so far.

17. You never remember how long it actually takes to print something

You think it’ll only take a minute, but then you run out of paper and have to reload it, or you run out of ink, or you have to go to the library to print it out, or there’s a line… The possibilities of what could go wrong are endless.

18. You’re better at pretending to work than you are at actually working

That way people will stop bugging you about finishing your work on time—which is exactly what you should be doing, but you don’t want to be reminded of your real responsibilities.

19. You tell yourself you don’t have time to work out

But really, what you don’t have are the time management skills needed to make time to work out.

20. But you do have time to watch a season of Grey’s Anatomy in two days

Because your priorities are as bad as your time management skills.

21. You always look forward to the next day because that’s when you’ll finally get your life together

You’re sure tomorrow is the day you’ll be that girl who gets up early, drinks kale smoothies, works out and finishes her work before 8 p.m.—but it never is.

Maybe one day we’ll change but probably not. Oh well. There’s always next semester!

It's been over a year since Amanda Bynes was in the public spotlight. But luckily for fans, the former Nickelodeon star shared a photo on Twitter on Sunday and it looks like she is doing great and is happy and healthy. The star posted a photo of herself next to a large arrangement of pink and white flowers. "Stopping to smell the flowers on a gorgeous Sunday!" she wrote.

This is the first time she has tweeted in two months and the first in awhile that it was about her life. In August, the actress surprised her followers with an update saying “Hi everybody! I haven’t tweeted in a long time and I want to say hi! I’ve been really busy at FIDM, and I just finished my midterms" and that she is "really loving school and I feel that I am learning a lot. I enjoy all of my classes and my teachers are excellent."

Hopefully, there will be more updates about her life coming soon!

5 Sex Taboos You Should Be Over By Now

$

Something is thought to be taboo when it’s not considered a societal norm. However, a lot of taboos are actually tied to sexual guilt because people feel like what they’re doing sexually is wrong. Newsflash: Nobody can tell you that what you’re doing in bed is wrong or gross as long as everything is consensual, and you shouldn’t be telling anyone that either. We’re hitting on topics people specifically get judgy about in the college atmosphere. It’s 2017, and we as a group of powerful AF collegiettes should support each other and start a conversation to normalize these common sexual experiences.

1. Anal

Why is this even considered taboo anymore? For some reason we’re still complaining about it. Sure, you may not want something in your butt, but if other women (or men) do, then just let them. The problems college students have with anal sex arise because we really don’t understand it. We either think it hurts, it’s dirty, it’s slutty or that it’s all our partners want and we shouldn’t give it to them. Sure, it’s definitely not everybody’s cup of tea, and if you don’t do it carefully you’ll definitely have a very bad first experience with anal. However, for both men and women, it can produce a lot of pleasure.

Jordan, a senior at San Francisco State University, pretty much says it all. “Guess what everyone! I love anal sex! Get over it!” she says. “Me and my friend group are very vocal about our sex lives, and even then I know sometimes I’m being looked at funny if I talk about my positive experiences with anal.”

Dr. Marilyn Owen, a marriage and family therapist, weighs in on why the anal sex taboo exists, and needs to end. “In 2010, I remember The Journal of Sexual Medicine released a study that found that more than 40 percent of women in their early twenties had tried anal sex,” she says. “If that many young women are doing it, why are we still acting squeamish about it? Men and women both confess that it’s deeply pleasurable if you have a good experience, and it also grows intimacy. Butt play is pretty common practice, but by not talking about it we’re making it taboo and shameful.”

If anal is something you want to try and you explore it in a safe and healthy way, do it! And don’t be afraid to talk about it either. Sharing your best butt tips with your friends during your late-night Sex and the City-esque gossip is going to be spreading a positive anal environment.

2. Period sex

If you’re ashamed of your period or think you’re gross because of it, you need to conquer that way of thinking. Our patriarchal system taught you that, but we here at Her Campus are here to tell you that your period is normal and nothing to be sheepish about. If your partner thinks your period is gross too, you need to sit them down for a real talk conversation. Your uterus is going to shed once a month for most of your life, so it’s time accept that. More importantly we need to learn that period sex is okay. Not everyone goes faint at the sight of blood, and if you’re feeling horny, then being on your period doesn’t have to be a sexual barrier.

Avery, a senior at Purdue University, shares her take on the taboo of period sex. “I’ve had sex a few times on my period and I honestly think it feels better,” she says. “I usually want sex way more when I’m on my period. Also, if you’re not into period sex, then no pressure, but don’t turn your nose up at people who do it.”

If you’re in the mood to spice up that time of the month with some pleasure, enjoy yourself! Tbh, we have a lot more to worry about in college than freaking out about period sex.

3. Body hair

We’ve shaved body hair out of our lives because apparently “sexy” in our society means looking like a hairless cat. However, as body positive college women, can we please end this? Whether the hair is in your pubic area or in your armpits, by the time you get to college, body hair is something you need to get comfortable with, especially in terms of sex.

When you’re trying to study for finals, work, feed yourself and fit in an hour each day to watch Gossip Girl, shaving gets rightly pushed to the back of the priority list. While we totally back up our girls who feel sexier clean-shaven, know that feeling pressure to be constantly as smooth as a Barbie doll should be considered more taboo than having stubble like a normal person. Shaving is a behavior ingrained in us, but it doesn’t have to be the rule for everyone.

Michael, a sophomore at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, weighs in on how guys really feel about hair. “Believe me, guys talk about it, and from what I know and my experience, most of us don’t care. If hair comes off in your mouth it can be kind of weird, but hair doesn’t make a difference for actually having sex. It’s confusing why there’s so much scandal around being hairy.”

Did you know you actually have hair down there for a reason? It’s more hygienic to have pubic hair because it protects your parts from friction and infection. The bush around the house isn’t something you should be feeling insecure about because it’s literally there to keep you safe. It’s society that says you should be hairless, and to overcome that taboo we need to reject sexual shame related to body hair. Women should have the choice to make body hair sexually empowering.

4. Not having an orgasm

If you’re not having an orgasm during sex, join the club. A lot of things can feel great that won’t make you come. It’s not anyone’s fault, and it shouldn’t be a secret you have to keep. By now, sex researchers have pretty much figured out that having an orgasm from penetrative sex alone is slim, so let’s bring this topic out of the shadows.

Be confident, and vocalize what works and doesn’t work about sex to your partner. Dr. Marilyn Owen has some advice about the best way to do this. “Talk about orgasms with honesty and excitement,” she says. “Both of you are going to feel anxious about it, so using gentle vocabulary like ‘I know it feels different to talk about orgasms, but I’m excited to explore this with you,’ or ‘I learned I like this from masturbation, want me to show you how to do it?’ are great ways to start. If your partner is dismissive of your concerns, reconsider hooking up with them, because they’re probably not worth your time or going to treat your right sexually.”

There’s a negative stigma associated with women who don’t swoon and orgasm as soon as their partner is inside them. Now, we feel embarrassed to discuss it (especially in college when we’re already insecure about ourselves enough), but it needs to be talked about, or how else can the situation be improved?

5. Having multiple partners

Sex between two people exclusively may be the only acceptable option for you, but it isn’t for everyone. Unless you’re in a committed relationship in college, it’s realistic that you could be having sex with different people in the same month or even the same week.

In college, it’s easy to let someone’s sex life characterize them. If a girl hooks up with a person one night and a new person the next night, it doesn’t mean she’s “loose” or that her sexual experience is any less meaningful. With our current college hookup culture, we should be the first to accept having multiple partners as not being taboo. If you’re two (or more) consenting adults, then do whatever you want.

Dr. Owen has more to weigh in on this common sexual encounter. “Hookup culture has completely dismantled the old idea that women should only have one partner at a time,” she says. “I can see this still being taboo because the lifestyle can put you more at risks for sexually transmitted infections, psychological injury and also sexual violence. If college women are utilizing condoms and birth control, only having sex with people they trust and not hooking up while not under the influence of alcohol, having multiple partners shouldn’t be worrisome.”

None of these things we really talked about above are as uncommon as you think, they’re just in the dark because we’ve put them there. That can change by being open-minded and accepting. Expanding your experiences past what you’re used to helps your understanding of the world, and on that journey, you might find that you like something taboo you weren’t expecting to.

What You & Your Friends Are Like During Finals, as told by the Harry Potter Trio

$

Finals week: two words that make thousands of college students across the country shudder in fear. When you think about it, though, finals are nothing compared to all of the sh*t Harry, Ron and Hermione faced throughout their time at Hogwarts. There's no trio better to represent how you and your friends act throughout finals, as shown here:

When the teacher says the final is cumulative:

Rollin’ up to the library with your squad like:

Looking over your study guide and realizing you have retained approximately zero information:

When you realize how unprepared your friend is:

And you decide that scaring her about the exam is much more productive than studying:

When you get to teach her and pretend you actually know what you're talking about:

And having to deal with that one friend that just stresses everyone out more:

When your study buddies won’t stop talking when you're trying to focus:

And you finally lose your sh*t because you actually have to study:

And you have to hide from the librarian when she comes over to yell at you:

When you find out that your friend invited that annoying girl in your bio class to study with you guys:

And she shows off how much better prepared she is than you are:

Going to office hours to ask that crazy professor a question:

When your mom calls and asks if you're ready for your exams:

When you realize the inevitability of pulling an all-nighter:

And you and your friends are forced to come up with creative ways to stay awake:

And as 5 a.m approaches you are positively delusional:

When you shame your friend for watching Netflix instead of studying:

And you can't help but express your concern:

And you end up taking your stress out on each other:

Or when she decides she’s just better off trying to cheat:

When you have to quiz your friend on a topic you know they’re bad at:

Even though they’re like:

When you have food delivered but the stress don’t stop:

When someone discovers that something is on the exam that you guys were not expecting:

And you think you might literally be sick:

Giving each other a pep talk the morning of your exam like:

When no matter how poorly you think you did, when you’re finally done:

4 Signs You're Not Ready for Grad School

$
0
0

College students who see their bachelor’s degrees coming over the horizon often have a difficult decision to make: enter the real world and begin your career, or stay in academia a little longer by entering grad school? Depending on what school you attend and what field you’re in, you may feel pressured to turn towards a master’s or Ph.D. program rather than begin your career. Or you may have a career that feels a little stagnant, and you’re thinking about heading to grad school to kickstart your opportunities and direction.

But grad school is definitely not for everyone. It can be expensive and may add little to your life if you don’t figure out how to effectively look for programs and make use of your degree post-graduation. If you haven’t done your research or you’re unsure about what you want to do, here are four signs you aren’t ready for grad school.

1. You don’t know what you want to study

Unlike for your undergraduate degree, you have to enter grad school knowing exactly what field you want to study. Applications will typically involve detailing what specific project or research topic you are interested in exploring. This is something you have to sell to the colleges—you have to convince them to accept you and to offer you as generous a student package as possible—which means you need something convincing, important and clear to study.

If you have no particular interest that calls your attention or you’re still thinking about bouncing between something in English and something in computer science, you need to take more time to think your decision through. An unsure applicant is going to be rejected immediately, which means you’ve wasted out of pocket expenses to apply with nothing to show for it. Don’t waste a university’s time or your own time by trying to apply without first making up your mind about what topic you want to study.

2. You haven’t evaluated the costs

Another major factor in graduate school decisions is what it will cost you. This can range wildly depending on what school and what program you enter. Some programs—the better-funded ones—will pay you a stipend to attend in exchange for some sort of student labor (usually working as a TA or research assistant of some kind). Others will ask you to pay thousands out of pocket to attend. You have to look into individual programs and think about what costs you might accrue attending.

Then you have to think about what sort of debt you might be graduating with, if any, and how long the income of a career in the field you’ve studied will take to pay off whatever debt you’ve had, and figure out whether the master’s or Ph.D. you’ve earned will do anything significant to reduce or ease the burden of that debt. For some industries, a graduate degree makes no difference on your salary, making grad school an unrealistic and unhelpful option.

“For me, grad school is an opportunity to get firsthand experience in the film industry, which wouldn’t be available to me otherwise,” says Elaine Mathis, a graduate student at Columbia University studying filmmaking. “Many people get into film purely by work experience—starting as a runner and working their way up. But my graduate degree offered a shortcut, by giving me that necessary practical experience in a concentrated amount of time.”

3. You haven’t researched careers in the field

Hand-in-hand with cost evaluation is figuring out what you want to do with your degree. What career field are you interested in? Do you know if they want or require an advanced degree? Will an advanced degree give you a significant bump in wages, or are they really looking for people with experience rather than formal education experience? These are just some of the considerations Molly Crum, a senior at James Madison University, had to take into consideration before making her decision not to go to grad school.

“I realized I was not ready because I only decided in my senior year what specific program I wanted to pursue in graduate school, and did not want to rush the process or have it interfere with enjoying my senior year,” says Molly. “I also work at my school's Career and Academic Planning office and see people come in who are pursuing graduate school because they just don't know what career field they want to go into or do not want to starting working. These are not great reasons to put in so much time, effort and money into a graduate program!”

Your career goals will ultimately make a big difference in how helpful grad school will be for you. If you haven’t done the research into what your degree can do to benefit your career, you may be signing up for a degree that will ultimately provide very little for you and only lengthen the amount of time you’re in school, affecting your dating life and reducing the amount of time you spend working on your career. Contact members of the career path you’re interested in, figure out how important and how effective a master’s or Ph.D. is to work in the field and don’t jump in blindly.

4. You don’t know if you’re committed

Do you really want to go to grad school? A master’s may take one or two years, but a Ph.D. program can be a six to eight-year commitment. If you drop out early, you won’t get partial credit. Are you dedicated to the field you want to study? Do you know that you want to study it for the next several years? If you’re unsure about your area of interest, you’re going to be unsure about sticking it through the entire program and building a career in it. Don’t commit to something you aren’t sure of.

What’s more, the whole experience leading up to grad school is an exhausting process and those people should really consider whether they have the stamina for a further two years of study.

“My plan for years and years was to go immediately to med school after graduation,” explains Erin,* a recent college graduate. “But I was so super burnt out after all those years of nothing but honors classes, summer programs and working on the side that I just couldn't do it.”

Grad school can be effective in launching your career forward or bringing you into a subject that requires advanced education, but it can also be an unnecessary and expensive speed bump on the road to your career. Figure out if you actually need the education before committing.

7 Ways to Make Your Button-Up Look Chic

For most of us, button-ups are boring. Those shirts are hidden in our closets, only to be worn in the workplace or for an interview. Contrary to popular belief, a button-up can be the most versatile piece of clothing in your wardrobe. It’s one of the only pieces that you can wear season after season. While spring is in full bloom, it’s time to take advantage of one of the most adaptable fashion trends. Check out all the ways you can transform your tired button-up into a true fashion statement.

1. Keeping It Simple

A button-up and ripped jeans may not sound like the most exciting option, but trust and believe that when you wear this look, you will feel unstoppable. It’s also simple enough that it leaves a lot of room for experimenting. This outfit is perfect for adding a bold piece—whether it’s your nails, lip, shoes, purse, or any accessory.

2. Showing Skin (in All the Right Places)

It’s been a long winter, and spring is the right time to show off a little bit of skin. This button-up and skirt combo provides a well-deserved opportunity to finally shed those winter layers. The high heels and sunglasses are the essential pieces you need to tie the whole outfit together.

3. A Kid Again

Overalls were a staple of our childhood, but when they're paired with a button up t-shirt, they scream fashion-forward. You can also experiment with different styles, lengths, and color of overalls. This outfit is strong enough on its own that you don’t even need to worry about accessorizing. Don’t be afraid to venture back down memory lane with this cute combination.

4. Break the Status Quo

This outfit completely breaks any stereotypes about a button-up being boring. With a little DIY action, your button-up can go from bland to flirty. Undo the first few buttons, push it off your shoulders, and knot it at the bottom to create this innovative look. Add an exciting pop of color that lets the world know you are welcoming in the spring.

5. Sweet & Charming

Just because winter is behind us doesn’t mean you've lost your opportunity to layer clothing. A button-up layered under a sleeveless dress is ideal for those days it’s not quite warm enough to bare your arms. An outfit like this is perfect for a day with friends or a night on the town.

6. Sporty Spice

A button-up does not have to be formal. When paired with a pair of sneakers and jogger pants, it will look effortlessly cool—Sporty Spice would be proud.

7. Making a Statement

Adding a statement tie to a button-up is one of the easiest ways to create an edgy look. The great thing about pairing the two together is that the shirt is so simple that you can essentially use any tie with any bold patterns you please.

It’s time to start loving that button-up that’s been hiding in the back of your closet. It may be basic on its own, but it can create so many different outfits that are trendy and fashion-forward. Break the notion that a button-up is boring with a little help from yours truly.

What to Wear to Stagecoach (& Every Country Music Festival)

If you like Thomas Rhett better than Radiohead, and Maddie & Tae better than The xx, you probably chose Stagecoach Country Festival over Coachella this year. Good choice! One of the many advantages of Stagecoach is that dressing for it is a lot easier—you don't have to worry about having the craziest, most innovative look, because it's all about the classics. But if you're scrambling to put together your outfits for the weekend, here's a handy guide. I gotchu, fam.

What to wear

Accessories

Bandana ($15 at J. Crew)

Because it looks country, but also to cover your face from sandstorms.

Hat ($12.79 at Amazon)

It's a country festival; do I really need to explain why you need this?

Boots ($140 at Zappos)

Try a thrift store for a cheaper version (I bought mine for $20).

Fanny Pack ($109 at REVOLVE)

You need a fanny pack to carry your stuff, but you get bonus points if it blends in with your outfit.

Tattoo Sheets ($20 at Flash Tat)

Face the facts: no festival is complete without flash tats.

Sunglasses ($5.90 at Forever 21)

It's the DESERT dude, you need sunglasses.

Tops

Flannel ($59.99 at Madewell)

Do. Not. Leave the house without this.

Blouse ($70 at REVOLVE)

Ruffles are where it's at.

Tank ($14 at Brandy Melville)

Oh yeah no, crop tops are a thing.

Tank ($19.99+ at Etsy)

Show your love for the music (and the Blake).

Muscle Tee ($19 at Etsy)

Let your shirt do the talking.

Pocket Tank ($15.95 at Etsy)

Because you're a "sweet, little, beautiful, wonderful, perfect all-American girl."

Jackets

Most people just wear their flannel as a jacket when the chilly desert night sets in, but these guys will do the trick if you tend to get really cold:

Suede Jacket ($48 at Forever 21)

Denim Jacket ($49.99 at Forever 21)

Faux Leather Jacket ($62.90 at Forever 21)

Bottoms

Suede and denim are the Stagecoach fabrics of choice.

Denim Skirt ($44 at Lulu's)

Denim Shorts ($19.99 at H&M)

Suede Skirt ($26 at Brandy Melville)

Suede Shorts ($85 at REVOLVE)

Pants ($14.90 at Forever 21)

If you must wear pants, make 'em hippie pants.

Rompers & Dresses

Romper ($49 at Lulu's)

This one is called "Star Spangled," so it's meant to be.

Romper ($132 at Planet Blue)

Coachella vibes aren't totally off limits—plus, how good would this look with your cowboy hat?

Shift Dress ($35 at Forever 21)

Denim without the hassle.

Dress ($27.90 at Forever 21)

Suede, dress edition.

If all else fails, take a cue from these pretty people:

Jeffree Star Has Beef With Jerrod Blandino & I Wish They Would Just Bake a Cake Out of Rainbows & Smiles

Get ready, beauty junkies, because there's some bad blood stirring up over in the makeup world. Remember Jeffree Star's heated feud with Kat Von D last year? Well, now he is back in the Twittersphere, spillin' some serious tea on Too Faced Cosmetics creative director Jerrod Blandino.

The root of the problem? The Power of Makeup palette that mega-popular beauty vlogger NikkieTutorials launched last year. Most of us who keep up with the beauty community know that Jeffree and Nikkie are good friends, and have collaborated on videos several times. So, when Jeffree learned from a video by Sanders Kennedy that Nikkie was only paid 50k for a massively successful, over 9-million dollar launch, he took it upon himself to call Jerrod out.

As someone who has watched Jeffree for a while now, it's not at all surprising to see his momma bear come out when it comes to his friends.

And, to add to the drama, Jeffree threw shade at one of Too Faced's latest IG posts about their Unicorn Tears lipstick, which many people took as a not-so-subtle dig at Tarte Cosmetics.

I mean, really—unicorn-inspired makeup is nothing new, just have a look at one of Lime Crime's best selling collections

Neither Jeffree, Nikkie, or Jerrod have commented on the drama outside of social media, but it's likely it isn't over yet. We'll just have to wait and see what unfolds next. Here's to hoping this was all just a terrible misunderstanding.

This Girl Doing Her Dad's Makeup While He's Asleep is the Funniest Thing Ever

While her dad was apparently taking the deepest nap EVER, this girl did what many of us only wish we could do: she gave him a hardcore makeover and documented the whole process.

First, she goes for the brows, arching them for the gods. Then, after debating whether to do a smokey eye or cut-crease look, she decides on a metallic gold cut crease (good choice!). While her dad is still blissfully away in dreamland, she adds the highlight, liquid lipstick, and finishes with a gorgeous pair of falsies.

TBH, the best part is probably when he wakes up. "I can't open my eyes, did you glue them together?" he asks her as she stifles giggles. And then he checks himself out in the mirror—we all see by then he's absolutely feelin' himself. Well done, Breeanna, because he looks GOOD.

It's so refreshing to see a family who can appreciate a girl's makeup skills and have a good laugh in the process. But I have to ask, Breeanna, will you do my makeup next?

Beyoncé Is Giving Out Scholarships to College Women—Find Out If You're Eligible to Apply

As if we didn't already have thousands of reasons to love Queen B and stay in formation, here's another one. In celebration of the one-year anniversary of Lemonade (which is *still* relevant, btw), Beyoncé has announced a scholarship program for college women.

The Formation Scholars program will begin with the 2017-2018 academic year. The purpose of the program is “to encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident.”

But there's a catch: Only four scholarships will be given out, and you must be an incoming, current or graduate female student studying creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies at Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design or Spelman College to apply.

If you're lucky enough to be eligible, you can find out more details and deadlines at your college.

Emma Watson Is Terrified About Being Your Role Model

There’s no doubt that Emma Watson has captured all of our hearts with her beauty, intelligence and kindness, both on and off the screen. We absolutely adored watching her grow up from her Harry Potter days to her most recent role as Belle in Beauty and the BeastCould anyone be more perfect?

I think I speak for almost everyone when I say that we as women love to think of Emma as one of our greatest role models. But the actress isn't exactly comfortable with that label.

Talking to Jessica Chastain for Interview magazine, Emma admits, “When people call me a role model it puts the fear of God into me because I feel like I'm destined to fail.”

Emma Watson? Scared? Although that doesn't even seem possible, it's important to remember Emma is human—she's not perfect or immune to failure. That she was willing to share this makes her even more of a role model. (Just don't tell her we said so!)

People Thought The Weeknd Sent Gigi Hadid Birthday Flowers, But It Was All a Misunderstanding

It's no secret that Gigi Hadid had a fantastic birthday. From what we saw on Snapchat, the supermodel celebrated with presents, balloons and time with her family, friends and boyfriend Zayn Malik. Of course, the day wasn't without internet drama.

Gigi shared a photo of a bouquet of flowers on her Instagram story and included "Abel" in her thank you list of people who gave her gifts. Thinking that Abel was referring to her sister Bella Hadid's ex-boyfriend Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd), people lost their minds.

It turns out the flowers weren't from The Weeknd, though. They were from some of Gigi's Tommy x Gigi collection co-workers at Tommy Hilfiger, including an individual named Abdel. See? This is why spelling matters!

This whole situation proves you should never jump to conclusions. Everyone surrounding The Weeknd and Bella's one-time relationship seems to have moved on, so we probably should too.

Ivanka Trump Was Booed For Saying Her Dad Supports Women & Families

While attending a W20 summit in Berlin on Tuesday, Ivanka Trump discussed her new role as a White House advisor and the economic progress for women in the U.S.—and managed to get booed in the process, according to The Washington Post. The discussion was part of a leadership panel that included German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

"That is something I'm very proud of my father's advocacy, long before he came into the presidency, he championed this in the primaries. He's been a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive," Ivanka said, according to CNN, causing the crowd to start booing and hissing. Maybe because her father has literally talked about grabbing women by the pussy, which doesn't exactly scream "champion of women."

"I've certainly heard the criticism from the media and that's been perpetuated, but I know from personal experience, and I think the thousands of women who have worked with and for my father for decades when he was in the private sector are a testament to his belief and solid conviction in the potential of women and their ability to do the job as well as any man," she continued.

Ivanka, you know that your personal experience with your dad doesn't translate to how he treats women as a whole, right?

The oldest Trump daughter has her own White House office, and though she's stepped down from her fashion brand and decided not to promote her upcoming book, she's still received criticism that she hasn't done enough to avoid conflicts of interest. Still, Ivanka said at the summit that she doesn't regret staying involved in politics.

“It has been a little under 100 days but it has just been a remarkable, incredible journey,” she said.
