While we've known that something has been brewing between Selena Gomez and The Weeknd for awhile now, the couple has been relatively social media shy, preferring to keep their relationship on the DL aside from a few paparazzi shots while stepping out together - that is, until now.
Don't freak, but the duo just make things Instagram officlal with a super sweet selfie. The shot was posted to The Weeknd's (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) account, and features Selena kissing The Weeknd on the cheek while draping an arm around his neck in a shadowy, undisclosed location.
While there's no caption, the picture pretty much says it all - and as we all know, when you take things to the 'gram, you know they're getting ~serious~.
According to Us Weeklythe couple was most recently spotted out together in L.A. on Thursday for a dinner date night, and Selena has apparently even been following The Weeknd around the world while he tours his latest album Starboy, which explains the constant sightings of them together in tons of different cities. Aww.
ICYMI, that Pepsi ad with Kendall Jenner has been creating quite the stir this week for basically commercializing activism and the Black Lives Matter movement - and the saga continues.
One extra from the controversial commercial spoke to People anonymously, saying many of the actors weren't from the United States and likely didn't understand the cultural implications of what they were getting involved in.
“I don’t live in the U.S.A. Maybe if I lived there and knew the [issues] before then, maybe I would feel bad,” the actor from Bangkok, Thailand, where the commercial was filmed, told People. “But I didn’t know anything, so I don’t feel bad.”
The actor also added that many of the commercial's other actors were likely in the same boat as him, since Pepsi chose to film and hire actors overseas, likely in order to save money. He went on to explain that actors discussed the ad's direction with Pepsi beforehand, which told actors that it was meant to have a "message of unity."
“People say things to me like, ‘Why am I in the commercial?’ and say that it is really offensive,” he told People. “It’s like, I was just doing my job. They asked me to be in the commercial.”
While the commercial was definitely not okay within the context of everything happening in the U.S. right now, what this actor had to say is fair enough. We're also seeing a trend here, considering Jenner has also claimed she had nothing to do with the ad's production or message.
Proof that Kim Kardashian's new family-oriented Instagram aesthetic is bringing back some #TBT gems: you're never going to believe this photo of she and Kourtney from 25 years ago.
The photo, which is from 1992 and was shot by photographer Lauren Greenfield, shows she and Kourtney talking with friends at a school dance in Bel-Air, Los Angeles. Naturally, they're decked out in flannels and jeans (because 1992, making Kim's caption, "90's" entirely unnecessary). Not going to lie, I'm not saying I wouldn't wear their outfits in 2017.
The whole thing is basically just a crazy reminder that, yes, there were days before their entire lives were broadcast on 13 seasons of reality television.
A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on
Also, can we just talk about the fact that Kourtney in the back of the photo looks exactly, 100% the same at age 13 as she did at age 37? What kind of magic potion/lotion/technique has she been using and where do we get our hands on it?
There are two types of people in this world—those who can sing, and those who can't. Typically, someone who is tone-deaf has a hard time recognizing the difference between musical pitches. As one could imagine, this leads to some pretty interesting sounds when a tone-deaf person starts belting out their favorite tune. But that doesn't mean those who can't sing don't still love doing it, even if their dream of being a globally famous rock-star was crushed early on in life. If your singing skills are less than dazzling, chances are you'll be able to relate to these all too well.
1. Your friends wouldn’t necessarily classify the sounds coming out of your mouth as “singing.”
It’s more of a loud wailing, honestly.
2. You have no concept of musical pitch
What even is “pitch?” Isn’t that, like, something you do to the batter in baseball?
3. The acoustics in the shower were made for you
The noise from the shower counteracts the terribleness of your voice.
4. Your friends have no problem telling you how bad you sound
However, strangers usually try to say something nice about your voice out of politeness, or pity. Probably both.
5. Sometimes, people think you’re trying to be funny when you’re singing
But you know very well your voice is no joke. The reality is that this is just naturally how your voice sounds.
6. Karaoke is both a godsend and a nightmare
Depending on how you look at it. On one hand, it’s the one of the few socially acceptable settings in which you can belt out a tune and get away with sounding like a dying walrus, besides your empty house or shower, of course. However, it could potentially be both a disastrous and humiliating event depending on how many people there, or who specifically, is watching.
7. Despite sounding less than stellar, you still love to sing
This is the ultimate struggle. To sing, or not to sing and save yourself from humiliation and embarrassment. That is the question.
8. In fact, you’ve considered becoming a professional shower singer
Why not round up other singing-challenged people you know and form a band? Tone-deaf girls unite!
8. You’ve perfected the art of singing into your hairbrush
Because that’s as good as it’s ever going to get. Plus, that audience of zero in your room can’t judge you.
9. You’re a pro at lip-syncing when it comes to a group rendition of “Happy Birthday”
This is the safest way to approach the situation.
10. “You better leave me alone or I’ll start singing” is a serious threat
This is the ultimate weapon in your arsenal. When someone’s getting on your nerves, you know just when to whip out the ‘singing’ card. That’ll send them running before you can even reach the first chorus of T Swift’s ‘Bad Blood.’
It’s true you’ll never make it as the next Adele. So what? In spite of your not so great voice, you still love to sing. Whether it’s during karaoke, in the car, or you’ve been relegated to your shower, you can’t help but crooning to the songs on your phone’s playlist. Quoting the wise Miley Cyrus, “we can’t stop, and we won’t stop.”
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse than mean girl Regina George, Alison DiLaurentis flew onto the scene and rocked our worlds! Underneath her golden locks are mental files full of secrets. Behind that pretty smile is her weapon of a tongue, ready to manipulate anyone who crosses her path. There’s much to hate about this queen bee, yet there’s no denying how captivating, clever and gorgeous she is.
You may be quick to think, “I could never be like Alison!” But before you jump to conclusions about being more of a Spencer, Emily, Aria or Hanna, you may want to check out these 23 surefire signs you are not only the head honcho of your friend group, but you’re the Alison D!
1. Sugar-coating isn’t even a thing in your eyes
2. You don’t just change your look every now and then, you change your whole identity!
3. You consider lying to be an art form
And you've perfected said art.
4. You have no problem with spilling the beans
5. If you didn’t know all of their deepest secrets, your friends may or MAY NOT be your friends
6. You’re not even fazed anymore about people constantly trying to hurt (read: kill) you
7. You’ve ruined perfectly good furniture without even batting an eyelash
8. You don’t even need a resting bitch face to be the HBIC!
Your smile is much worse!
9. You’ve got plenty to hide
10. But you generally don’t have time to keep up with all of your prized possessions
11. You’ve assigned your friends roles
12. And you have a legion of loyal followers
Who are all dressed to perfection, might we add!
13. You know a thing or two about stroking an ego
14. And you’ve handed out threats like they're compliments!
15. You have been known to lend out a favor or two
But not for free of course....
16. You’re nothing without something to hang over someone’s head
17. Your friends are swooning over your man candy older brother!
18. You’re considering “liar” as your first tat!
Just waiting on Mom and Dad to give you the green light.
19. You always tell your girls what you’ve heard through the grapevine
20. You tend to think you’re untouchable
21. You can’t help but remind your friends what all you’ve done for them
They're beyond ready for you to retire that bit, ugh!
22. You should have considered majoring in drama
23. But most of all…everyone fears you and still wants to be you!
Oh Luke. Sarcastic, grumpy, yet oh-so-loveable Luke. Gilmore Girls just wouldn't be the same without him. No matter how peppy, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed you start off the semester, you turn into a different person when you have a bunch of club meetings and school work. It's understandable that you're a bit more cranky amidst all the chaos and cramming. By the end of the year, you basically become Luke Danes in all his pessimistic glory.
1. The pure frustration you feel when you find out you have three exams, four papers and two projects all on the same day
The struggle is indeed real. Deep breaths, in and out.
2. When people ask how you are
Oh I'm just peachy, thanks for asking. Life is all sunshine and roses currently. Am I being sarcastic? Why, I wouldn't dream of it!
3. When you get together and have a complain-fest with your friends
It's no secret Luke can find plenty to complain about. After all, misery loves company. And by the end of the semester, when the work is piled so high and you're convinced your professors are out to get you, you can't deny that it feels good to know you're all in the same, sinking boat.
4. Even the little things start to drive you crazy
Your friend hasn't texted you back in awhile? How rude! Your roommate didn't make their bed? How dare they allow you to look at that eyesore!
5. Any and all expectations go out the window
Pass my exams with flying colors? Very funny. At this point, you're not expecting any miracles.
6. You become stubborn to a fault
Even when you reach your breaking point, you're pretty reluctant to admit you need help even when it's beyond clear you do.
7. You have no problem telling someone else when they look like they're about to snap
I don't have a problem, but you clearly do.
8. You eventually realize that the semester won't last forever
The year must come to an end. Summer will be waiting for you, so you might as well power through the pain and try to make the best of your time left at school.
Despite the daily hardships Luke faces and his overall grumpy demeanor, even Mr. Danes recognizes that life is all about improvement. Every collegiate deals with end of the semester struggles, but like Luke, you will not give up until you've made some sort of progress, while simultaneously handling your business with grace, a glass half-empty view, and a whole lot of sarcasm.
It feels like it was just yesterday when the queen of pop, Britney Spears, opened up her Piece of Me show in Las Vegas. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end eventually.
A post shared by Britney Spears (@britneyspears) on
But who would have thought that would include her show? According to Cosmopolitan, Spears show will close on December 31, 2017, after her four-year contract ends. Ugh, my heart.
But not all hope is lost. Her manager, Larry Rudolf, told US Weekly that "Our next move is undecided, we are still talking with Caesars Entertainment and other interested parties in Las Vegas."
So although she is leaving in less than a year, it may not be forever. Nevertheless, you should get your tickets while you still can.
Unless you live under a very large rock, without internet, then you probably know about the controversial Pepsi ad that aired last week starring Kendall Jenner. Don't know what I am talking about? Here is a refresher.
Understand why it might upset some people? Ok good.
Well, as they do with all touchy subjects, Saturday Night Live made fun of it in the best way. In this week's episode, they created a parody commercial from the perspective of the director of the commercial and it is absolutely hilarious. In the video, the director learns that the commercial may not actually unite people like he thought and his response is perfect. Watch the video below and see for yourself.
No matter how picture perfect your friendship looks from the outside, we all have moments shared only with our day ones. After you know someone for so long you drop the formalities and things can get pretty out of hand.
Boundaries? Not in here. Here is a list of 21 signs that you and your bestie are WAY to comfy with one another.
1. FaceTiming each other from the shower or bathroom is a regular occurrence
2. You tell her about everything that happens to you on an hourly basis
3. Her name in your phone comes up as the same annoying one she typed into it when you met in middle school
4. Which leads to some very confused looks when she calls and other people read her contact name as “KATIE MY SEXY BITCH”
5. Being naked around each other is second nature
6. Personal space has no meaning
7. You have an assumed cuddling position
8. Which makes it inconvenient when you have to accommodate a third person during a Netflix sesh.
9. So inconvenient that you wish that person would just leave so you and your BFF could be comfortable
10. You don't think twice when asking her if "that's what it's supposed to look like?"
11. You just KNOW when she’s about to drunkenly throw up or she’s just being a big baby
12. You have had to bathe her before when she was too drunk to do it herself
13. You are the first to volunteer to pull trigger for her so she can rally and finish the night
14. People often find themselves questioning whether you and your BFF may be more than just friends
15. You opt to wait for the handicap stall to accommodate both you and your bestie even if normal stalls are open
16. Your periods are in sync
17. Which means so are your irrational mood swings
18. Your their emergency contact for everything
19. Like Annie and Lillian, you can communicate with only a look
20. And even if that look may look like this:
21. You know that on the inside your friendship makes you feel like this:
It seems like every single day Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth get cuter and cuter as a couple. From adorable family photos to literally anything having to do with their dogs, the couple is serious #goals.
And their dates are no exception. According to Cosmopolitan, the couple took a stroll in Los Angeles with their two dogs Dora and Mary Jane and they looked perfect doing it.
Brb going to beg my boyfriend to take a hike with me now.
With warm weather just around the corner, most of us have “bikini bodies” on the brain. But what does that mean, exactly? It seems a little bit ridiculous that mainstream culture would have us believe that only one really specific type of body actually qualifies as a beach body. Here are 7 women who prove that every body is a bikini body!
A photo posted by BoPo w/ Michelle Elman (@mindsetforlifeltd) on
Body confidence coach Michelle Elman is all about self-love and the body positivity movement. After undergoing over 15 different surgeries by the time she was 20, Elman started the “Scarred not Scared” campaign to help women become more comfortable with their bodies and gain the confidence they deserve. She is a huge advocate for her cause, frequently speaking out about it both on television and on social media. Michelle doesn’t let negativity get to her head, showing nothing but love for her detractors. “My response to most of these [negative comments] are ones of kindness; I thank them for taking the time to read the article and sharing their opinion,” Michelle says. “The intention of the blog post and my campaign is to talk about scars and bring awareness to surgery scars, the conversation of my weight is irrelevant and is my business.” We love that, just like we love Michelle!
2. Becky Freeman
On her blog Fashion Food Fotos, Becky Freeman writes about—well, fashion, food and photography! She’s also a firm believer in setting your own standards, and not comparing yourself to celebrities or Instagram models. “It would be better to just try to be the healthiest, happiest version of yourself year-round than to let yourself fluctuate in a cycle of spin classes, pizza, and self-hatred," Becky says. "Secondly, we need to stop comparing ourselves to celebrities. We are not them. When you have millions of dollars, no 9 to 5, and it's literally your job to look that flawless, trust me, you can and you will. The focus should be on finding swimwear that fits your body, not the other way around.” This seems so obvious when we think about it!
A photo posted by Tiffany Gonzalez (@t_fashionbible) on
Tiffany Gonzalez is currently at work writing the Bible—the Fashion Bible, that is. The Miami-based fashion blogger and publicist keeps her readers up to date on her favorite products and outfits, and wants every one of her readers to feel comfortable in her own skin. “We don't know the struggles each woman may face with her body,” Tiffany says. “Instead of judging her for being too big or too small or too fit, we should encourage her beauty, because at the end of the day, we never know what that person may be going through and rude comments can really damage someone.” We couldn’t agree more!
It seems like there’s nothing that surfer, author, activist, supermodel and documentary-filmmaker Veronica Grey can’t do. She definitely spends a lot of time on the beach, surfing and educating people about the sharks she works hard to protect. She thinks anybody who wants to wear a bikini should totally go for it. “Who wants to spend all summer indoors, or even worse, wearing too much coverage with unforgiving tan lines?" Veronica asks. "It is a known statistic that the #1 fear in America is public speaking or public appearances. The #2 fear is death. People would rather die than make a bad impression." With all the work she’s been doing lately, Veronica has focused on bigger things than worrying about what other people think of her. Her fearlessness and go-getting attitude are majorly inspiring. You go, Veronica!
5. Christina Mendez
Plus-size model Christina Mendez is proud of her curves, and with good reason! The New York fashionista has modeled for Baby Phat, House of Dereon and BET, among many others. She rocks every outfit she puts on, and the companies she works for think so, too, which is something that she finds a major motivation. “As a professional plus-size model, I am not immune to criticism regarding my body,” Christina says. When she gets negative comments, she says they’re ”hurtful for about 30 seconds. But then I remember that I was hired by the company because they thought I looked good the way I am without losing any weight.” This year, and in 2014 and 2013, she walked the runway at New York Fashion Week. She has some advice for young women who might be struggling with their body image: “Know that you are beautiful and embrace the beauty within you! I've struggled with body issues all my life but once I decided to embrace my given curves everything became clearer,” she says. “I keep myself surrounded with positive people and I make sure to say at least 3 things I love about myself.” We think she’s an awesome model and an awesome role model. You rock, Christina!

The Goofy Mermaid, aka fashion blogger Mari Draughon, is dedicated to living a green, organic lifestyle. After being diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis in 2014, she wanted to reach out on a larger platform and speak about issues of health and beauty, among other things. Her diagnoses really changed the way she looked at the choices she was making. “I became more mindful of my choices and adopted a more organic way of living—which not only includes what I put into my body, but what I put onto it as well," Mari says. That mindfulness resulted in a deeper connection with my body and a better understanding of what exactly it does for me each day." She believes that self-care is super important, and that it isn’t worth it to try out diet fads or perform extreme amounts of excercise. “Love and nurture your body and it will love and nurture you in return,” Mari says. “You don’t have to put it through dangerous diets and strenuous exercise in order to feel good, instead nurture it with wholesome foods and positive thoughts and I promise your body image will change. You may still have cellulite, but you’ll be healthy and a healthy body is a beautiful body.” Thanks for the advice, Mari!
7. Aniesia Williams
Brand executive, journalist and digital strategist Aniesia Williams is big on helping people with communicating. The North Carolina native and LA transplant is a huge proponent of confidence, and finds it to be a really important aspect of living a full life. “As plus-size ladies, we want to look and feel like our 'faux bikinis' are cute on the beach too!" Aniesia says. "If you aren't confident in who you are and your body, it can mess with your head and affect the way you live your life.” With her new contracts with major car companies and her recent trip to Hong Kong for Business of Design Week, Aniesia’s got a lot to be proud of. She was even named the Social Media Influencer of the Year in 2013. “I am so comfortable in my skin,” Aniesia says. “It's all about being healthy, confident, and sexy at any size.” It sure is! Aniesia’s book is totally one we’re going to be taking a page or two from.
Bikini bodies are all about confidence. And the weather’s getting warmer, so head down to the beach—you look great already!
College would be way more bearable if everything was a musical. Your professors would sing instead of lecture, you and your squad would have awesome dance numbers and you could sing all your feelings. Doesn’t sound amazing enough yet? Here are 17 more reasons why your life would be so different and so much better in musical form.
1. Every day you would wake up and get ready to a giant opening number
2. You would naturally be an incredible singer and dancer
3. Class discussion would consist of sing-offs and dance battles
4. And tests would be an improvised song where you and everyone else sings on desks and dances about the classroom
5. All your food would be served in an epic dance number
6. Homework would be a musical performance in the library instead of a 15-page paper
7. There would be a song for every major plot point in your day
8. You would get to sing all your feelings instead of crying them into your pillow
9. And you’d have an ensemble there harmonizing with you
10. Instead of fighting with your archenemy, you would just dance at each other
11. You would always be in amazing lighting
12. There would be instrumental interludes whenever you zoned out or daydreamed
13. Bae would confess their love for you in ballad form instead of texting you
14. Your squad would be the ultimate backup chorus
15. Everything would be about you all the time
16. You’d sing a daily reprise about the thing most on your mind that week
17. Before you went to bed, you and your roomies would perform a show-stopping finale
You hear it all the time, and it can bring up different emotions depending on how far along you are in the process. If you're a freshman, thinking about “the best four years” fills you with excitement and anticipation. If you’re a senior, it’s more like tears and FOMO. Either way, among all the exams, final papers and group projects that we must endure during our time in school, we also experience these magical moments when it all becomes worth it; when we realize there’s absolutely no place we’d rather be than living the best four years of our lives.
1. When you discovered you could take naps in between your classes
This is better than preschool.
2. When $1 could get you a slice of decent pizza
Is this delicious, or am I just really hungry?
3. When you went out and actually made it to your 8 a.m. the next day
Seriously, they should give out trophies for this.
4. When you realized you weren’t the only one who stays up until 3 a.m. every night
#TeamNoSleep
5. When class got canceled two weeks in a row
Enjoy that conference, professor. We'll greatly miss your stimulating lectures!
6. When you didn't actually have to attend class
So I don't have to go to the principal's office if I have three absences?
7. When you woke up anywhere but your own bed and didn't know how you got there
Hi, Uber driver? Yeah, can I drop you a pin?
8. When you found your people freshman year
Shout-out to my second floor sweethearts.
9. When you ate your body weight in dining hall food
This whole buffet-style deal is not doing good things for my health.
10. When you realized you had endless drunk food options any given night
I'm feeling Taco Bell tonight, Micky D's tomorrow.
11. When your song came on at a party
Make way people, it's about to get real.
12. When you killed it on the dance floor
In your mind at least.
14. When you hosted your own party
So if 100 responded to the Facebook event, does that actually mean 100 people are coming?
15. When you experienced the aftermath of your first party
Who stole my phone charger? What's that red substance? How did my stuffed animal end up in the freezer?
16. When breakfast was the only thing that could get you out of bed on a Saturday
Even if it was at noon.
17. When you got your first drink bought for you on your 21st
I could get used to this.
18. When you weren’t judged for being in complete shambles basically all the time
We're all riding the same struggle bus.
19. When you successfully submitted a paper at 11:58 p.m.
Probably my worst effort, but at least it's on time.
20. When you made it through a night in heels without wiping out
Call me Heidi Klum.
21. When you sent drunk texts even you couldn't understand the next morning
Your guess is as good as mine.
22. When you actually wanted to go back a week into Winter Break
Took a nap, ate a home-cooked meal... I think I'm good.
On Sunday, ISIS attacked two Coptic churches in Egypt, killing at least 45 and wounding roughly 125, according to CNN. St. George's Church in Tanta, where an explosive was placed under a seat, was the scene of the first attack. A suicide bomber later approached St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria. Police stopped him before he could go in the church, but the explosive he was wearing detonated right outside.
The attacks happened on Palm Sunday, which symbolizes the start of Holy Week for the Christian church. These attacks were blatantly targeted toward the already persecuted Christian minority in Egypt. According to BBC, the Copts are one of the oldest Christian communities in Egypt, as well as the largest in the Middle East, and with the recent rise in jihadism, many believers have felt weak and susceptible to hate crimes, which make this incident even more harrowing.
Following the attacks, President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi issued a state of emergency for three months and ordered military deployment to help officials determine imminent threats and narrow down suspects, according to BBC.
His statement read, "The state of emergency allows both the armed forces and the police to execute those procedures necessary to combat the threats of terrorism and its financing, maintain security around the country and protect public and private property, as well as preserving the lives of citizens.”
In order for the three-month state of emergency to go into effect, Parliament must approve. They will vote on Tuesday.
It's that time of year again—festival season. Clear skies, flower crowns, flowy skirts, and, of course, Vanessa Hudgens. Despite the many different music festivals this time of year, however, let's just be real for a second and admit that Coachella is the be-all and end-all when it comes to lineups, location, and fashion.
Coachella is like a playground for your favorite celebs and all those cool kids you see on your Instagram feed. It's completely fabulous and completely jealousy-inducing. Luckily, even if you can't afford Coachella tickets and a plane ride to Cali, plenty of stores are making it possible for you to dress for Coachella from the comfort of your dorm room. Obviously, if you're lucky enough to be attending, these tops were made for you too.
Check out some totally awesome, totally Coachella tops from some of our favorite stores:
1. Forever 21 Crochet-Paneled Bell Sleeve Top, $35
2. Nasty Gal Take The Edge-Off-The-Shoulder Top, $40

1. Actually getting out of bed in the morning
2. Only pressing snooze four times
3. Being on time to every class
4. Finding a good seat in the library
5. Having a friend to eat lunch with
6. NOT fighting with your roommate
7. Seriously liking a class
8. Knowing your outfit is cute AF
9. Remembering to shave your legs
10. Having a clean pair of underwear
11. Finishing a paper BEFORE the due date
12. Going to get coffee and the barista knowing your order
13. Getting an unexpected care package
14. Finding a new TV show to watch
15. Having time to take a NAP
These are just a few out of hundreds of little things that can get you through a tough day. Whether it's running into a friend on the way to class or joining a new club, there are countless ways to stay motivated in a stressful academic environment!
For one Sacramento teen, this past weekend will be hard to forget. Saturday night, Rio Americano High School senior Albert Choa attended his prom with none other than Kylie Jenner.
Kylie discovered through social media that Albert was turned down by the girl he asked to be his date, and she decided to step in. Choa’s sister filmed portions of the event, posting snippets on Twitter.
While it’s not uncommon for high school seniors to reach out to celebrities for prom dates, their plans often don’t work out. The 19-year-old reality star and beauty mogul was completely game for a night of fancy dresses and slow dancing, though.
For Kylie, this was the first prom she's attended since she was homeschooled for most of her high school years. In a 2014 Google+ chat, she even expressed interest in attending prom. “I plan on making one of my friends take me to prom. I feel like I need to go to one. I want to go to one of them.” Jenner's best friend, model Jordyn Woods, came too because why not?
It’s pretty great that Jenner got to fulfill a dream of hers while also making this student’s prom memorable. It never feels good to be rejected, especially for an event like prom, but it’s clear that Kylie made Choa’s prom unforgettable.
No matter how you feel about Kylie, it’s hard to ignore how cool her weekend plans were.
After United Airlines overbooked a flight, a passenger was forcibly removed from the aircraft by airport security because he refused to leave the plane.
The man who was removed from Flight 3411 from Chicago to Louisville said he was a doctor who had to be at work the next morning. Three security guards approached him, and one pulled him from his seat and dragged him down the aisle off the plane.
Multiple videos of the incident have been shared on social media, including one taken by fellow passenger Andra D. Bridges.
In the videos, the man's yells can be heard as the officer removes him, but he falls silent shortly after. His mouth is visibly bleeding as he is dragged, his shirt riding up his back, glasses skewed and stomach exposed.
According to Bridges, prior to boarding, United offered a $400 voucher and hotel stay for one volunteer to take a flight the next day. Passengers were allowed to board the flight but were then told four people needed to volunteer to take a flight the next day so standby United employees could fly to Louisville. Although the offer increased to $800, no one volunteered, so airline employees resorted to a computer-selected group of four random passengers, including the man who was forcibly removed and his wife.
Voices of concern are audible in the videos, with one woman exclaiming, “Oh my God, look at what you did to him.”
"Everyone was shocked and appalled," Bridges told USA Today. "There were several children on the flight as well that were very upset."
United CEO Oscar Munoz released a statement Monday in response to the incident. "I apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers. Our team is moving with a sense of urgency to work with the authorities and conduct our own detailed review of what happened," he said.
On Friday, Chrissy Teigen did something that made her even more lovable in our book: she paid a North Carolina woman’s tuition to beauty school.
Mercedes Edney, owner of a natural skincare company called Ixora Botanical Beauty, started a fundraiser on the popular crowdfunding site YouCaring to help fund her education, as she was unable to obtain scholarships or financial aid. She needed to raise around $6,000 for esthetician school; by the time Chrissy’s donation came through Edney had raised nearly $300. Teigen donated the remaining balance, ensuring Edney’s place in beauty school.
In a note with her donation on the site, Teigen wrote, “I’ve seen this be your passion for such a long time now. So excited to see you fulfill your dream!”
Edney was of course ecstatic, expressing her gratitude to Chrissy on Twitter.
@CruzanChoklate I'm really excited for you to live out your passion
Edney told NBC News about the exciting turn of events on Twitter. “I was at work, and I heard my PayPal alert go off. I saw the amount and said ‘what the hell? What’s wrong with PayPal?’ I thought it was a glitch.”
Luckily for Edney, it wasn’t a glitch at all. Teigen’s donation helped her pay her down payment for esthetician school.
Chrissy is so much more than #goals at this point. She's a straight-up hero.
