6 Things No One Tells You About Going to a Small College

In searching for a school that fits your needs and wants, there are many aspects to consider. If you’re thinking about applying to a small school, it’s important to look at the pros and cons.

Smaller colleges aren’t for everyone—just as large universities aren’t, either. While there are some more obvious aspects of small schools —smaller class sizes mean more one-on-one time with professors, there are fewer dining options, and so on—we’re here to let you in on some lesser known truths about attending a small college. Here are six things no one tells you about going to a small school, from collegiettes who found out firsthand.

1. You will get to know everyone quickly

Naturally, at a small school, there are fewer students. This means you will start to recognize familiar faces almost right away. What no one tells you, however, is that by your junior or senior year, chances are good that you will know every single person in your class. Depending on the size of your campus, this phenomenon may occur as early as the first few weeks of classes.

“One thing no one tells you about going to a small school is the number of repeat faces you will see after about the first week of classes,” says Emily DiNuzzo, a senior at Pace University. “At first, you think there are so many people and then the entire world shrinks in a matter of weeks. Even if you don't know a person’s name, you know their face, someone else who knows them or maybe just some run of the mill gossip.”

The tight-knit community of a small college means that you will build strong relationships quickly. Be careful, though, because if any of these relationships end, you could be in for some awkward situations.

2. It’s hard to avoid people

If you get in a fight with your friend from class or break up with a SO that goes to your school, it becomes much more difficult to avoid him or her when you go to a small school. A more condensed campus means running into people over and over again, whether you want to see them or not. This is especially important to consider when it comes to dating your classmates.

“Tinder is not an option,” says Megan Wastal, a senior at Pepperdine University. “Chances are, if you see a guy on Tinder, you will also see him in the cafeteria 10 minutes later.” If you want to avoid the awkwardness, maybe think twice about flirting with that cutie who is in two of your classes. This is not always the case, of course. Relationships can definitely flourish at a small school!

Skipping class can also be tricky. “All of your teachers notice when you're not in class and are most likely friends with your other teachers,” warns Megan. This can be a good incentive for attending class, though—even when you don’t want to.

3. Being different can feel difficult

Small schools often have very distinct personalities. For example, Emerson College is well-known for its creative and spirited students. While everyone is unique in his or her own way, you will start to notice more and more similarities among the student body.

“Sometimes, depending on your school's area and typical demographic, it can be very hard to be different––whether that's your personality, your religion or any other unique detail of your life,” says Kristen Perrone, a senior at Siena College. “In my experience, nearly everyone is able to find friends similar to them but I think it's easier to feel discouraged about the way your personality is at a small school where everyone knows each other well.”

Kristen gives the example of being introverted but feeling pressure to invite as many people as possible to a party in order to make connections. Even if it isn’t easy, you shouldn’t be afraid to be you—especially if it means being unique.

4. School spirit is often expressed in nontraditional ways

While football games and fraternity parties may be the norm at large schools, small colleges often have different outlets for expressing school spirit.

“No one really goes crazy at the sports games,” says Megan. “The only people that attend are friends of the players, the rally crew that gets paid to be there and the opposing school.” Whether it’s an abundance of club sports or a large performing arts presence, you can definitely still find your niche on campus, though perhaps in a less traditional way.

If you are into watching sports, find out if you can film the games or help out the team as manager. Want to play? Try out for the team—and invite your friends to games! If you’re a natural leader who would rather spend time off the football field, consider starting an organization on campus or joining an existing chapter. From the school newspaper to debate team, there are plenty of options for every kind of interest.

5. It’s a short walk across campus

If you’re always late or notoriously bad with directions, a small campus can be a plus! You’ll pick up on the ins and outs of on-campus life quickly, and you can rest easy knowing you’ll always be able to get from one place to another in (almost) no time at all.

“The best thing to me about going to a small college is the ability to be able to walk to class when you wake up late,” says Stephanie Jackman, a senior at York College of Pennsylvania. At small schools, everything is often centralized, and it’s a quick trip from class to class, as well as to the dining halls, dorms, bookstore and library.

Keep in mind that if a campus with tons of big buildings and hidden hangout spots is what you’re looking for, you may not find that at a small school.

6. You will make your own kind of family

With fewer people in your classes, extracurricular activities and your dorm, you will definitely become close with other students and even professors. “When you get further along in your major, you practically know the people in your classes as if they were family,” says Stephanie.

If you ever need a recommendation letter or help with your resume, you’ll always have someone to go to. Plus, you’ll have close friends (or at least people you know) in every class. At a large college you may have tons of acquaintances, while at a smaller school you may have a few really good friends.

Every school has its own pros and cons and it can be difficult to generalize numerous small schools into just a few categories. Continue to do your research and make the choice that’s best for you. Wherever you choose your home for the next four years, we want you to be happy and to excel.

Are you the biggest goofball in your group of friends and want to find an outfit that will show that off? For all those funny girls out there, consider dressing as a pun this Halloween. Yes, that's right: a pun. These costumes might need a little bit of an explanation, but they're guaranteed to produce some chuckles.

There are endless puns in the world, but we've put together a few clever ideas that also make cute costumes! Punny costumes are also great for those of us who tend to be a little last-minute in our planning. Most of them can be made from materials you'll find around your dorm room, even if they do require a little bit of crafting to get the costume just right. We'll list all the easy ones first, and then we'll list some more intricate punny costumes for those of us who aren't afraid of a challenge!

1. Queen of Hearts

queen of hearts costume
Difficulty Level: Easy

Materials: Tiara, craft supplies

How-to: Wear whatever outfit you want, but make it fairly neutral. Then, cut out tons of hearts in a variety of colors and put them all over your outfit. Finish off the look with a tiara or plastic crown and you're done!

2. Anchorwoman

Difficulty Level: Easy

Materials: Business casual dress, craft supplies, microphone

How-to: Dress in your favorite business casual outfit (bonus points for adorable pencil skirts!), and tape a large cutout anchor to your back. That's it—you're an anchorwoman! Feel free to carry around a microphone to complete the outfit.

3. Facebook

facebook costume
Difficulty Level: Easy

Materials: Facepaint

How-to: This is one of the easiest costumes out there, so it's perfect for people who know they won't have much time to get ready. Simply paint the word "BOOK" across your face, and you're done. Just like that, you've become the website that you spend hours on every day!

4. Headquarters

Difficulty Level: Easy

Materials: Quarters, headband, hot glue gun

How-to: Although it requires a little bit of crafting, gluing a few quarters onto a headband shouldn't take too long. This is an easy outfit that requires just enough prep so that the glue has time to dry. This outfit is perfect for people who don't love dressing up, and just need to be able to point to their head to prove that they did put a little effort in.

5. Mixed Greens

Difficulty Level: Easy

Materials: Green clothing, craft supplies

How-to: Dig out all the green clothing in your closet, and don't worry about whether or not it matches! Put it all on, in layers, with mismatched socks and accessories. This one is super easy because if you have enough in your wardrobe, you don't even have to make any purchases. By the time you're done, you'll look like your favorite salad! Feel free to add some construction paper cutouts of tomatoes and carrots to complete the veggie-friendly look.

6. Tic Tac Toes

Difficulty Level: Easy

Materials: Tic Tacs, hot glue, flats

How-to: Get some cheap flats that you don't mind ruining, and hot glue your favorite flavor of Tic Tacs onto them. This is another super easy outfit, and pun enthusiasts can even pair it with something else, like the idea up above for Headquarters!

7. Well Red

Difficulty Level: Medium

Materials: Red clothing, books

How-to: Dress in an all-red outfit, and carry around your favorite novel—but the more pretentious the title sounds, the better! This one gives you a ton of flexibility because you can make it as elaborate as you want. Use a permanent marker to write your favorite quotes all over a red t-shirt, or just go crazy with red lipstick and glitter.

8. Photographic Memory

Difficulty Level: Medium

Materials: Disposable cameras, hat, hot glue gun

How-to: This one requires a little bit of prep, but it shouldn't be too hard to execute. The basic idea is to hot glue a bunch of disposable cameras onto a hat. This one can be really fun later for capturing memories, as you can get some funky bird’s eye shots by taking photos with your hat throughout the night!

9. Cereal Killer

Difficulty Level: Medium

Materials: Box of cereal, spoon, pajamas

How-to: Dress in your favorite pajamas and pop open your cereal box. Tear off the top third of the box in a jagged line, making it look like an animal tried to rip it open. Carry around the box and the spoon together all night. To really get into the spooky Halloween spirit, carry a fake weapon with this outfit (you are a cereal killer, after all!). Extra points for messy hair that makes it look like you woke up and just couldn't wait to get some breakfast!

10. Peas Corp Member

Difficulty Level: Difficult

Materials: Peas, craft supplies

How-to: Feel like spreading some peace this Halloween? Become a member of the Peas Corp! Dress in whatever outfit you want, but spend some time making signs with cute sayings on them, like "Love and Peas for Everyone!" March around with your signs all night, and if you want to get really into it, walk around handing out peas as if they were Halloween candy!

11. Ceiling Fan

Difficulty Level: Difficult

Materials: Craft supplies, pom poms, megaphone, face paint

How-to: Pretend you are the absolute number one fan for your favorite team—the Ceilings! Dress as a cheerleader, and spend some time decorating signs and t-shirts that show off your ceiling pride. This costume lets you get really creative, as you can make up chants, team statistics or anything else you need to complete the outfit. This is really easy to turn into a group activity, too, as you and your friends can dress as an ultimate ceiling fan group. Talk your guy friends into going shirtless and painting "CEILINGS" on their chests!

What other punny costume ideas can you come up with?

Apparently, This Song Can Be Used to Measure Empathy

Music is a powerful tool to express emotions, but it also has the ability to elicit certain responses. Whether we need an energetic song to get us out of bed in the morning or a post-breakup anthem to help us feel like the fabulous individuals that we are, music can evoke all sorts of feelings. In fact, a new study published in the Frontiers in Psychology journal has concluded that one song in particular can make some people feel moved—and therefore showing that they're more emphatic.

Before arriving at this conclusion, researchers designed and conducted a series of tests to measure the effect of an instrumental track on subjects. The participants of the study included 102 people between the ages of 18 and 67. Next, the participants listened to an instrumental song called "Discover of the Camp." Apparently, past studies have used the same song to elicit feelings of sadness in participants—and we can see why.

Maybe it's the dramatic string instruments that basically tug at our own heartstrings.

After listening to the eight and a half minute long track, participants responded to multiple tests that were created specifically to measure empathy. Responses were then categorized into three groups: relaxing sadness (aka "positive, peaceful and relaxing emotional responses to sad music"), nervous sadness (defined by a sense of anxiety or fear) and moving sadness (described as "a complex and intense emotional experience, involving both aesthetic, enjoyable emotions and feelings of sadness").

Though the researchers found no relation between relaxing sadness and empathy, or nervous sadness and empathy, the final category suggested otherwise. According to Quartz, moving sadness had the most profound effect on a person's ability to show empathy.

"Those who were barely affected by the music scored low on questions measuring emotional responsiveness to other people, while the opposite held true for people who felt strongly about the music," Quartz said.

In other words, people who were emotionally impacted by the song indicated higher levels of emotional responsiveness. Because of this, they are more likely to be empathetic toward others.

"Music appreciation involves social cognition," said Tuomas Eerola, a music cognition professor at Durham University. "People sensitive and willing to empathize with the misfortune of another person—in this case represented by the sad music—are somehow rewarded by the process."

So basically, blasting sappy Adele and Celine Dion songs on repeat is a sign of an individual who is more in touch with their emotions and able to empathize with others. Please excuse us while we proudly play said artists on repeat.

Here's Why Donald Trump's Allegations of Voter Fraud Are Totally False

He's losing in the polls and the leaders of his own party are abandoning him faster than rats on a sinking ship, but Donald Trump has found a new trick to hype up his supporters: conspiracy theories about a rigged election. He not only claims the election is being fixed by the elites in the political establishment, he also alleges there is widespread voter fraud in the system. Does this claim have any merit?

In a rally in Wisconsin, the Republican nominee called out to his supporters and said, "This election is rigged. It is!" During the speech, he cited a Pew Research study and a study from The Washington Post to illustrate his point. However, Politico points out that these studies don't actually prove Trump's argument. While both do show problems in the voter registration system, neither study points to a widespread voter fraud.

The Pew Research poll DID show that 24 million voter registrations, or one in eight, are invalid—but not because of the reason Trump believes. The study shows many people are registered in different states or simply just died at the time of the study, so it's not like all these invalid registrations are being used to cast fraudulent votes. The study's authors don't conclude that there's any widespread voter fraud issue. Instead, they just suggest the system is inefficient and needs to be updated. The Post study did that many non-citizens are potentially voting, but the authors think that's just because people don't understand whether or not they have the right to vote. The study also received several rebuttals and critiques, and it's unlikely Trump read all of those before coming to his conclusions.

President Barack Obama commented on this new allegation, calling it unprecedented and even saying Trump is "whining," according to The New York Times. In a Rose Garden press conference with the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Obama said, "I have never seen in my lifetime or in modern political history, any presidential candidate try to discredit the elections and the election process before votes have even take place."

Trump's own running mate, Mike Pence, hasn't been able to get behind the allegation—he says his running mate simply disagrees with the "obvious" media bias. Trump has also suggested this is a cause of the fix, tweeting the following:

Media bias may exist, yes, but come on. We can't blame the media for everything. Many of his fellow Republicans have distanced themselves from this claim, a move Trump called "naive" in a tweet.

The claims of voter fraud are worrisome, as they suggest Trump and his supporters might attempt to challenge the outcome of the election. America is built on the peaceful transfer of power and defeat, so Trump calling the entire election process into question would be—wait for it—pretty un-American. Trump's campaign manager said the candidate will concede if voter fraud and irregularities are not present during the election, but you know the Trump campaign—they're not necessarily likely to accept an outcome they don't like, even if it's based on "data" and "facts."

Despite Trump's best efforts, this move has not gained him any ground in the polls—which have been taking a strong dive since before the Access Hollywood tapes. Most polls show Clinton leading with Trump further behind. With the final debate coming up soon, many think Trump is too far behind to catch up and the debate is sink-or-swim for the campaign.

Trump is (clearly) fighting a losing battle and he knows it. But c'mon Trump, we're just as tired of you as you are of this election. Can't we just have a clean break?

This Accessory Aims to Help Prevent Campus Sexual Assault

Sexual assault continues to be a huge issue among college campuses. In fact, an AAU Survey found that 1 in 4 women (and 12% of the overall college student population) will be victims of unwanted sexual contact during their undergraduate years. This survey included reponses from over 150,000 respondents, spanning across 27 universities. While the responsibility lies on the perpetrators to simply not sexually assault anybody, it's also important to stay aware and have the tools you need to avoid such a situation. This is where ONEE comes into play.

ONEE is a startup brand developed by Alison Lyness and Michele Cho during their first year at Harvard Business School, with Head of Technology Aaron Whittemore and fellow classmates George Hart and Ryan Orley. When they saw just how prevalent of an issue sexual assault in college still is, they were determined to put their respective skills and experiences together to create a fresh, modern solution.

The company has created a line of friendship bracelets that are stylish and serve a purpose. In just three simple steps, these Bluetooth-enabled bracelets can reinforce the buddy system across campuses everywhere.

ONEE: The Buddy System, Reinvented from ONEE on Vimeo.

In order to use the bracelet, you'll have to download an app, which enables you to sync your bracelet with any of your friends who are also wearing one. If at some point during a party you lose track of your friends, you can check in with them using a simple tap language. One tap on the bracelet signals your friend to respond back once if she's not in any danger, while two taps results in a vibration that indicates she needs help.

And just in case you can't seem to find your friend, the app is also equipped with a locator. Basically, this is a fool-proof buddy system where no girl gets left behind—and we love it.

Shipping for ONEE's smart jewelry doesn't begin until next spring, but you might want to preorder a bracelet before they're all gone!

Your Complete Guide to Binge-Watching 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'

How to Watch

All seven seasons are available to stream with a subscription on Netflix and Hulu.

Reasons to Watch

Before Twilight, True Blood or The Vampire Diaries, there was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you love vampires, demons and/or strong female characters, Buffy is the show for you. Sarah Michelle Gellar kicks major ass as Buffy Summers, the high school cheerleader turned Chosen One. With the help of her friends Willow and Xander, Buffy sets out to save the world from evil—which is easier said than done when your high school sits atop a Hellmouth.

Buffy has it all: smart comedy, romance (between humans and vampires, humans and humans, vampires and vampires…) and a great cast of characters. There are episodes that will make you laugh, scream and sob—sometimes all three within the span of 45 minutes. You will fall in love with the Buffyverse, which is why you’ll stick with the series through heart-wrenching story arcs and at times laughable special effects. Like every long-running TV show, Buffy has its ups and downs. But trust us when we say, all seven seasons are worth watching…and then watching again.

Suggested Rate of Watching

When you start watching Buffy, you’ll most likely go through the first season fairly quickly. By the end of season two, you’ll definitely be hooked. Just remember that the show has seven seasons, and you don’t want to rush through them. Each episode is 45 minutes long, so committing to two episodes a day is pretty reasonable. Of course, there will be days when you just can’t stop watching, and that’s OK.

You Will Like This Show If You Like…

Firefly, Charmed, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural

Best Season

The third season is arguably the strongest overall. With notable episodes such as “The Wish,” “Amends” and “Dopplegangland,” and of course the two-part season finale “Graduation Day,” season three marks the end of Buffy’s high school years. Viewers get to experience sentimental coming-of-age moments such as the prom and high school graduation…which wouldn’t be complete for Buffy fans without the titular character ripping off her graduation gown in order to battle a giant demon.

Worst Season

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and season seven brings the show to a close. The final episode concludes on a fittingly bittersweet note, but the episodes leading up to the series finale are mostly mediocre. While there are some memorable moments, this season is, sadly, pretty forgettable as a whole.

Best Episode From Each Season

Season One

1x12 — "Prophecy Girl"

Season Two

2x22 — "Becoming: Part 2"

Season Three

3x20 — "The Prom"

Season Four

4x10 — "Hush"

Honorable Mention

4x09 — "Something Blue"

Season Five

5x16 — "The Body"

Season Six

6x07 — "Once More, with Feeling"

Season Seven

7x22 — "Chosen"

Character You Will Aspire to Be Like

Buffy Summers

A teenage girl from California who is thrown into a dark and dangerous world, Buffy is understandably a reluctant hero at the beginning of the series. But by the end, she embraces her destiny. You’ll love watching Buffy kick some serious vampire ass. She is funny, cool, smart and kind, and you will definitely aspire to be like her. Slay, Buffy, slay.

Characters You Will Love to Hate

Cordelia Chase

Cordelia begins her series arc as the classic mean girl, but she becomes so much more. You’ll hate her, love her and hate her again, but you've got to give it to her: she is far from a static character.

Faith

Without giving too much away, Faith is basically Buffy’s foil. You’ll mostly hate her, but it will be so much fun.

Spike

Oh, Spike. This leather jacket-wearing vampire villain will surprise you in the end. And that’s all we’re going to say.

Couples You Will Be Shipping

Buffy and Angel

The Buffy/Angel saga is beautiful, heartbreaking and one of our favorite parts of the entire series. If you live for romance, you will ship this couple so hard. Plus, there’s nothing sexier than a young, tortured David Boreanaz.

Willow and Tara

Talk about magical (ha, you’ll get the joke later). These two are the best together.

Xander and Anya

We love seeing Xander happy, and Anya (mostly) makes him happy. This couple will bring a smile to your face.

Spike and Drusilla

Spike and Drusilla are an unconventional couple. They’re both a bit crazy, which makes for some entertaining banter between the two.

Terminology You Need to Know

Hellmouth

"From beneath you, it devours."

A Hellmouth is an area where the barriers between dimensions are weak, which allows for the creation of portals between Earth and hell dimensions. Hellmouths attract demons and other creatures, becoming “hot spots” for supernatural activity.

Slayer

"In every generation, there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer."

The Slayer is a young human woman chosen by fate and bestowed with mystical powers, whose job it is to hunt and fight forces of evil.

Watcher

"A Slayer slays, a Watcher…"

A Watcher is a member of a secret organization called the Watchers’ Council, which seeks to prepare the Slayer to fight demonic forces. Watchers are assigned to train and guide Slayers.

Best Guest Stars

Many of Buffy’s stars went on to do great things in Hollywood. Apart from the main cast, though, there are a few familiar faces that show up for an episode or two. Look out for Amy Adams, Rachel Bilson, Bianca Lawson, Shane West and Amber Tamblyn, among others.

Music You Will Be Dying to Hear Again

Tracks like Close Your Eyes (the Buffy/Angel Love Theme), Wild Horses by The Sundays, and Magic Snow Music (from “Amends”) will have you reliving the most emotional of episodes. For something a bit more fun, check out this album that features all of the songs from season six’s musical episode, “Once More, with Feeling,” plus a taste of the show’s fantastic score.

Best Quotes

“If the apocalypse comes, beep me.” — Buffy to Giles, Season 1, Episode 5

“We saved the world. I say we party.” — Buffy to Willow, Season 1, Episode 12

“The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live.” — Buffy to Dawn, Season 5, Episode 22

“I'm the thing that monsters have nightmares about. And right now, you and me are gonna show 'em why.” — Buffy to Andrew, Season 7, Episode 11

“Okay, I'm cookie dough. I'm not done baking yet. I'm not finished becoming…whoever the hell it is I'm gonna turn out to be. I make it through this and the next thing and the next thing, and maybe one day I turn around and realize I'm ready, I'm cookies. And then, y'know, if I want someone to eat or enjoy warm delicious cookie-me, then that's fine. That'll be then. When I'm done.” — Buffy to Angel, Season 7, Episode 22

What to Do When You’re Done Watching

Be content in the fact that you just experienced a major pop culture phenomenon…albeit a few years late. If you need more vampires and demons in your life, you can check out Angel, the Buffy spinoff. It’s different in many ways, and the tone is darker than Buffy, but you get to see Angel, Cordelia and other Buffy favorites in a new setting.

Just be prepared: If you binge-watch Buffy, you may not know what to do with yourself once the series is complete. You just rode a rollercoaster of emotions in a short period of time, so it’s understandable that all you want to do is discuss what just happened. Hopefully your friends have seen the show, and if not, send this link their way.

The Next 'American Horror Story: Roanoke' Episode Could Change Everything

American Horror Story spoilers ahead if you're not caught up on this season.

We’ve seen a lot this season. We’ve seen Evan Peters make his debut... then die 10 minutes later. And we’ve heard Actress-Shelby scream “Matt!” too many times. Now we are exactly halfway through this season and things are about to seriously change in a way that AHS hasn’t dealt with before. We’re about to get a whole new story, or at least a whole new perspective on the story we already know.

Ryan Murphy said that episode six is going to flip the season on its head. “You’ll see starting in episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you’re watching is not what you’re watching,” Murphy revealed to Entertainment Weekly last month. And judging from “Chapter 5” as well as the promo from season 6, we have an even better idea what that could be.

“Chapter 5” or the fifth episode this season saw the end of the Matt and Shelby Miller's horror story. They were able to escape their house with Flora and Lee intact and we see the “end” of “My Roanoke Nightmare,” conclusion and all. But with 5 more episodes still left in the season, what could the rest of it look like? Well, obviously the show is going to follow the production side of things, based on the promo for Wednesday. But what could it be beyond that?

The Real-life Millers

So, the most basic and obvious option could be that the real-life Millers, played by Lily Rabe and André Holland, are still being plagued by the ghosts from their Roanoke home. Or even that they are being forced to go back to the place where all their nightmares became real. This would allow us to see how they are really living and if they’ve recovered at all. However, this doesn’t fit exactly with Murphy’s style; it’s just a little too cut-and-dry—plus, Murphy said that this twist feels bigger than any that has happened on the show. “The thing I love about episode six as you are watching it is that we drop a huge bomb at the end of the third act, where you kind of are in disbelief at what the chyron on the screen is saying,” said Murphy in an exclusive interview with E! Online. “And then that takes you into another world and the stakes are really, really, really high…The big twist of episode six takes you into a complete other world.” While the real life world would be “completely different,” jaw-dropping it is not.

The Reenactment Actors

Episode 6 could, on the other hand, follow the real-life actors on the show “My Roanoke Nightmare.” This would include Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Katy Bates. This would also make tremendous sense as to why we got so little of Evan Peters up to this point. And according to Ryan Murphy, it was worth the wait. “Evan Peters in episode six is one of the greatest, most hilarious things Evan has ever done and he loved it,” said Murphy. “He's a very big, pivotal part of episode six, playing a completely different character than what we've seen him play. Evan is just the best, I love him.”

If production of this show-within-a-show took place on location, could the spirits of the site have had a lasting impact on the cast? Could we see what strange occurrences happened while filming? Or are we going to see them start to film a new “My …. Nightmare” on a new location, with a new story? Which brings us to the next theory.

Billie Dean Howard’s Show

In season 5, Hotel, Sarah Paulson’s character was in the middle of filming a reality TV show, one that pushed her to find John Lowe, the ex-detective played by Wes Bentley who ends up dead after being the 10 Commandment Killer. Could Billie Dean be starting a new show, one that gets victims of “real life horror stories” to profess their experiences on television, with reenactments and all? This would be a pretty big plot twist, and could would bring a huge connection to season one and five.

This could also mean that the show is going to follow another family’s real American horror story. Could the next subjects of her show possibly be the Ramos family that fled the original Murder House? Or another family in the AHS universe?

While we won’t exactly know what to expect in terms of storyline until Wednesday, Murphy’s surprisingly candid interview with E! did give a lot of definites for the rest of the season.

  • We for sure know that the story is completely different starting with this week’s episode. Expect character flips and plot shifts.
  • Expect some major scares. If you’re like me and need a lot more than severed heads and ghostly apparitions to scare you, Murphy said that it’s their scariest season yet. “…because it's like season one Murder House in that it feels very real. And what happens from now until the end—it's just a race to the finish, which is really, a very harrowing and brutal race.” Sounds very promising.
  • MAJOR news in terms of who is coming back. Finn Wittrock will be portraying “his most fucked-up character of all time” and beloved fan favorite Taissa Farmiga will be returning as well! MTV is also reporting that Matt Bomer is coming back to the show, although his role is unknown.
  • Lady Gaga’s character, Scathach, has been confirmed as the first ever Supreme. And by Supreme, we mean the first ever leader of modern witches. This term is used in season 3, Coven, arguably the last good season before Roanoke (argued, mostly, by me).

Whatever is waiting for us in this week’s episode is bound to change American Horror Story history forever. Can’t wait!

Trump Is Bringing Obama's Half Brother As His Guest For Tonight's Debate

Donald Trump brought some interesting guests with him to the last presidential debate—three women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault. The third and final debate on Wednesday will be no different. Trump has some new controversial guests in mind—and one of these is Barack Obama’s half-brother, Malik Obama.

Malik Obama is not just famous because of his presidential relations. He made headlines in July when he announced his support of Trump this election. According to the New York Post, Malik said, “I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart.”

Malik and Trump do have some things in common. The two agree that mainstream media is biased, while neither of them believe that the women accusing Trump of sexual assault are telling the truth.

“I don’t believe them,” said Malik, according to Page Six. “Why didn’t they come forward before?”

“I look very much forward to meeting and being with Malik,” Trump said to the Post. “He gets it far better than his brother.”

In the past, the 58-year-old Kenya native has had serious issues with his half-brother’s administration. They haven't seen each other since August 2015, after Obama visited Kenya. “I went to the White House to say hello,” said Malik, according to Page Six. “As usual, it was a hands-off kind of thing, very businesslike, very formal.”

Malik Obama was pretty annoyed when Clinton and President Obama organized the fall of Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy, who he called one of his good friends. “My brother and the secretary of state disappointed me in that regard,” the elder Obama said.

Malik was also upset over the president’s support of same-sex marriage. “I feel like a Republican now because they don’t stand for same-sex marriage, and that appeals to me,” Malik said. For the record, he has at least three current wives, but that number could be as high as 12, according to the Post.

Malik has also been known to criticize President Obama over his non-support of the Barack H. Obama Foundation. The foundation, named for their father, was caught doing off-the-books operations in 2011, but was later cleared by the IRS. Its mission is to help the village of Kogelo, Kenya, which is where much of the Obama family resides.

Malik Obama will join Pat Smith, the mother of one of the Benghazi victims, and singer Wayne Newton as Trump’s honored guests at Wednesday night’s debate in Vegas.

“I’m excited to be at the debate,” Malik told the Post. “Trump can make America great again.”

Kim Kardashian's Whole Life Has Changed Since Her Robbery & It's Going to Stay That Way

After the world was shocked to find out that Kim Kardashian was the victim of an armed robbery a few weeks ago in Paris, everyone has been on their toes to see what the star does next. Well, according to People, you probably won’t see anything. At least, anytime soon.

According to a source close to Kardashian, “Kim’s whole life has basically changed. Before, she was like a social butterfly. Now she acts much more withdrawn.” So although you may have seen her out for the first time since the incident last week, it won’t be any bigger than that. “She has no plans for any public appearances,” the insider said.

All of this comes after Khloé shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that Kim is “not doing that well” and that she is laying low, according to Cosmopolitan. As well, recently an update was shared on Kardashian’s website and app from her assistant Stephanie Shepard, saying that “Keeks is taking some much needed time off,” but the website will still be updated thanks to “Kim’s closest friends, fam & yours truly.”

The full note reads: “Hey group… So you may have noticed we haven’t updated the app in a couple weeks… Keeks is taking some much needed time off. But not to worry cuz we’ve called upon Kim’s closest friends, fam & yours truly to serve up some exclusives. Stay tuned for new posts and app takeovers!! Thank you so much for your support for my girl. Love you mean it! Steph Shep”

Frankly, while we do miss the queen of selfies and her beloved Instagrams, all we want is for our favorite Kimmy K to feel better.

As A Woman & A Sexual Assault Survivor, There's No Way I'm Voting For Donald Trump

By Devyn Jauch

As a millennial, a college student, a liberal, and—most importantly—a woman, these is nothing that could ever make me consider voting for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Unless you have been living under a rock these past few weeks, you've probably heard about some of Trump's most recently exposed scandals and allegations. Trump has been caught on tape laughing about consensual encounters with women and, in light of that, many women have come forward with claims that Trump has sexually assaulted them in the past. Now, these events are only the most recent. Throughout the campaign, and even for years prior, Trump has not been shy about his opinion on women and women's rights.

Let's look at his comments about 1996 Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado, whom he started referring to as 'Miss Piggy' or 'Miss Housekeeping.' Or what about his comments to the many female reporters who dare to differ with his ideologies or even question him? And then there are his sexual comments towards his own daughter. These all create one very clear picture: Donald Trump has a blatant disregard for women.

But we need to focus more on the current scandals and how they impact the campaign. In short, things do not look good for Donald. The comments, and his response to them, have shown the country his true character. He has the mindset that because he is rich and famous, the rules do not and will not apply to him. He is impulsive and negligent. Are these really characteristics that we want in our president? Sure, Trump has apologized to his family and to the American people, but what about the women he assaulted? To them, he has said nothing. In fact, he has stated that many of the women who are now coming forward are just looking for attention and a chance in the spotlight. This further adds insult to injury. It takes courage to step forward about a sexual assault, especially when you are accusing someone in a position of power. And rather than owning up to what he probably did, Trump further victimizes the women.

Now many have argued that Trump’s recent scandals and Bill Clinton’s scandals during his presidency make the election equal. However, that could not be further from the truth. Bill Clinton is not running for president. Hillary Clinton is. And she has shown time and time again that she is not her husband. On the other hand, Trump is running for president, and he is the one being accused. If elected, he will be the one making the executive decisions, he will be the leader of the country. Do we really want an accused rapist and proven misogynist as the face of America? Because at the end of the day, that is who Trump really is.

His actions show that he has no respect for women and that he views sexual assault as a joke. The country is already running rampant with rape culture, who's to say how that culture would grow if Trump were to be in power? Women would likely continue to experience job and wage discrimination, threats of punishment for abortions, and who knows—Trump supporters have even talked about repealing the 19th Amendment.

Let's compare that potential with some current political motions. On Oct. 7, President Obama signed a Bill of Rights for survivors of sexual assaults, giving survivors better access to and autonomy over their rape kits. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is dismissing allegations of rape as cries for attention.

I personally am a survivor of multiple sexual assaults, and a victim of rape culture and judgement in reporting, especially on college campuses. Trump's treatment of women disgusts me, as he is showing the country that this is an acceptable way to act toward and speak about women.

Whether you are a woman or not, you know a woman—your mother, sister, daughter, wife, friend. Trump's comments must be seen as wrong. No matter what your political views, it's important to think about the effects the next POTUS will have on our country's character. Do we want a country where women are further objectified, or do we want a country of equality? I want equality. I want to be seen as a person, not an object available for the sexual pleasure of men. With that goal in mind, there is nothing that Trump could do in the following few weeks preceding the election that would make me vote for him. #ImWithHer.

'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' Is Paying Tribute to Richard in a HUGE Way

As November 25th slowly approaches—and we mean SO SLOWLY—any sensible Gilmore Girls fan is anxiously waiting for any type of news we can get about the revival. Will Dean and Rory be together? Or Rory and Jess? Do Luke and Lorelai finally get married? WE WANT ANSWERS.

So although we have to wait to learn about some of these bigger things, there is one thing that we do know: Richard Gilmore will live on forever. After Edward Herrmann, the beloved man who plays Rory’s awesome grandpa, passed away in 2014, it left a big hole in all of our hearts. Well, thanks to some newly released photos of the revival, we can now see that although he may be gone, his presence is still here in a big way.

If you look closely at the photo—that was recently released (and thoroughly examined by HelloGiggles)—behind Lorelai, Rory, Luke and Emily, there is a ginormous painting of Richard on the back wall, probably commissioned by Emily. Gulp.

So yeah, raise your hand if you are already crying and A Year in the Life hasn’t even premiered yet.

I'm a College Woman, & Despite Everything, I Still Support Donald Trump

By Layne Unkle

Let me begin by saying I support Donald J. Trump. I am a middle-class white female, and I support Trump. Some may be questioning my judgment, especially after the past few weeks. But the allegations against him, whether true or false, were all over 10 years ago. Many of the details in these cases have already been called into question. He has also publicly apologized for the audio tape of "locker room banter" from 2005. We've all heard men talk about women in this way—it’s extremely common, especially in high school and college. Trump was under the impression that he was not being recorded at that time, and that the conversation was between friends. The transcripts of the tape include two other participants in the conversation: Billy Bush, a former cohost of the Today show, and an unidentified third person—both of whom also talk in a lewd way about women, so obviously Trump felt as though no one would know.

Look back to the beginning of this race. Trump would not only mock or take jabs at the other candidates, but he would sometimes avoid answering the moderator’s questions. Looking at him now, he has complimented Hillary Clinton on her drive and determination, and he's answered every question asked at his rallies and the debates. He promotes himself and his family positively throughout his campaign, rather than trying to smear Hillary Clinton's name negatively. The man stepped outside of his comfort zone—business—and is trying to take on the responsibility of running this great country. He wants to fix this nation, save our veterans and help our schools. He wants to create more jobs and secure our borders from drugs and other contraband. This is a man that wants to help us, not hurt us. To me, that's pretty admirable.

On the subject of his mistreatment towards women, I don't believe that everything that has come out is true. Many of the scenarios have been taken out of context; the background story has not been broadcast as much as the allegations themselves have. One of the supposed sexual assault cases was Jessica Leeds, a woman who was sitting next to Donald on a flight in 1979. This case, along with almost all of the others, has some questionable details. Leeds claimed that Trump lifted the armrest on the seat and grabbed her forcibly; however, in pictures of the exact plane you can see that the armrests are stationary. (Ed. note: CNN reports the armrests of the plane in question were removable.) In the case of Mindy McGillivray, she claimed that a young Donald Trump “nudged her” at a concert at Mar-a-Lago on January 24, 2003. But there was allegedly no such concert on that date. So take these stories with a grain of salt—This is a campaign, after all. The opponent will always try to look for the worst in you, even if the worst is now 10 or more years in the past.

As a woman, of course sexual assault and harassment are concerns of mine. Sexual assault is no joke—one out of every four college women will be sexually assaulted or harassed in her lifetime. But trying to connect Trump to a rise in rape and sexual assault cases is outrageous. Do I fear that the chances of me being groped or grabbed will increase if Trump is elected president? Of course not. One person stepping into the White House is not going to increase the likelihood of sexual assault. Do I fear that this country will suffer depending on the outcome of this election? I most certainly do. And if I were you, I would be pretty worried, too.

This Video About a Rapist Recovery Center Will Make You Cringe (And That's a Good Thing)

Above Average, an digital-first entertainment company with ties to SNL creator Lorne Michaels, may have released their most controversial comedy skit yet. "Rapists Now Have Their Own Recovery Center" satirizes the compassion that rapists often receive after they've been accused, as if they were the true victims of the situation. The worst thing is, the idea of a rapist recovery center is actually kind of believable in our current culture—emphasizing the problem that the skit is trying to combat. Remember how the judge in Brock Turner's case felt so bad for Turner that he gave him far less than the minimum sentence for his crimes? This video humorously demonstrates how society has failed rape survivors—the real victims—by treating their attackers with much more sympathy than they're owed.

Halloween is arguably the best holiday because not only do you get to eat endless amounts of candy without feeling guilty, but you also get to dress up like a kid and not get weird looks. But as great as it is to dress up, it can also feel impossible to pick a costume. Let’s be real, after 18+ years of costumes it can seem like you’re running out of ideas, so why not look to the stars for your perfect Halloween costume? Due to the spookiness of the occasion, seeking out recommendations from the universe seems pretty appropriate. So what will you be? Read on to find out!

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22): Superhero

Libras are fierce, bold and always up for an adventure. As one of the most active signs, Libras are definitely super. Not only do you love going on adventures, you’re usually the one to initiate them. You’re a great friend and love to help others too, making you the “hero” of your group. Whether you go for Superwoman, Batgirl or any other superhero, you will be sure to look as confident as you feel.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 24): Rock Star

Scorpios are emotional and passionate, which means they make great leaders and love to express themselves. With such a bright personality, you can definitely pull off the rock look like no other. This costume is fun and super bold, which makes it the perfect complement. With a personality as fierce as yours, you need a look that is loud and proud. Well, with this outfit that won’t be a problem.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21): Cat

Sagittarii are the most curious of the bunch and the wanderers of the world. The classic cat costume was practically made for you. Luckily, with a personality as fun and bubbly as yours, you can take this common look and make it unforgettable. Whether you go for the sexy kitten look or the quirky cat, you’ll be looking great and killin’ the game.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19): Royalty

Capricorns are detail-oriented and self-proclaimed traditionalists, so dressing as royalty for Halloween is only natural. You love to stay organized, and you pretty much define the phrase “overachiever,” so obviously your costume has to be on point. If you’re more into the fun-loving side, go for any of the classic Disney princesses—you know you have a favorite. Or show your sophisticated side, find a partner and go as Will and Kate.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Holly Golightly

Aquarii pride themselves on their originality and artistic personalities. When they find something they are passionate about, they pursue it. You are always busy and sometimes get lost in your own world, so dressing up as Audrey Hepburn’s iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s character, Holly Golightly, is perfect for your quirky personality—“really darling.”

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20): Pop Art Character

Pisces are artistically inclined and love all things music and romance. Their friendliness makes them great friends, and although they love their alone time they also enjoy being with others who have similar interests. Their ideal costume is a comic book pop-art character. You’ll love this costume because it requires a bit of artistic expertise and is sure to turn heads for its originality.

Aries (March – 21 April 19): Vampire

Aries are bold and energetic—they’ll never get lost in a crowd. You’re a leader of the pack and you love to be the best at what you do, which means that you need a killer costume. A traditional vampire costume is perfect for you because although it’s a classic, your personality will light it up. Go for the Dracula look, or amp it up with something along the lines of Twilight or The Vampire Diaries—either way you’ll look vamp-tastic.

Taurus (April 21 – May 20): Olympian

Not only is Taurus one of the most reliable signs, but they are patient and kind as well. You never take anything for granted and love completing goals, which makes an Olympian costume your perfect look. Whether you opt for gymnast, swimmer, track star or any other Olympic event, you’ll end up with a costume that is perfect for your strong personality.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): '80s Workout

Gemini are witty and affectionate; everyone loves to be around them. You can chat up a storm just as well as relax on your own, and even though you never miss a social opportunity, you are also diligent in your work. Pulling off the ‘80s workout look is a challenge you’ll accept and pull off unlike any other sign. You aren’t afraid to have fun and this costume will make you the center of attention without being too serious.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Mary Poppins

Cancers are individuals who thrive on loyalty and are great friends. Everyone loves you and your sensitivity makes you the go-to friend for advice. You also are extremely family-oriented, which makes Mary Poppins your perfect Halloween look. She’s kind, generous and even a little bit stubborn, which fits your tenacious temperament flawlessly. You’ll be Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, for lack of a better word.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22): Hermione Granger

Leos like to be the best at what they do, and are natural leaders. They love a challenge and usually accomplish any goals they set. So why not be Hermione Granger, the epitome of perfection? Her passionate yet warm personality is a reflection of your kindness and impeccable management qualities. You’re usually the one keeping everyone in line while also being fun and energetic, so you’ll rock this look. Plus, you get to quote the “It’s LeviOsa, not LevioSA” line endlessly without judgment. Win.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22): Villain

Virgos are loyal and practical beings whose detail-oriented personalities don’t let anything slip through the cracks. They are impeccable planners who live life according to their rules. Your ideal costume is a villain because although you are kind, you also know how to plot. Whether you go for Harley Quinn or Poison Ivy, you’ll love getting the chance to show off your bad side.

Happy Halloween, collegiettes!

19 Things Only Girls Who Are Unapologetic About Their Political Opinions Understand

$

0

1. When people say they hope they’re not getting too personal when they ask you your political opinions and you’re like, “No, I live to be asked this question.”

You were waiting to find out whether or not they're someone you can discuss politics with!

2. While most of your friends are excited to watch the newest season of their favorite shows, you’re just anxiously awaiting the next presidential debate.

It's the best (and most terrifying) reality television you've ever seen.

3. During said debates, you watch intently while furiously retweeting every single debate tweet you relate to.

Not that you're trying to brag, but your #debate tweets are pretty witty, too.

4. You also secretly love-to-hate watching the debates. They stress you out. You yell at your TV and probably scare your roommates.

Why didn't the moderators make them truly answer that question?!?!?!

5. That is unless your roommates love politics, too—then watching the debates is the most quality bonding time you ever have.

You know you're great friends when you get angry/passionate about the same issues.

6. Your political opinions are no secret to most people. You might as well wear a T-shirt that says, “I’m voting for ____."

Okay, yeah, sometimes you actually wear that shirt.

7. In fact, you have all the political merch a girl who’s unapologetic about her political opinions could ever need.

All kinds of signs, stickers, T-shirts, coasters… you just gotta have them.

8. You shamelessly spread the word about the causes you believe in, whether it’s through on-campus organizations, volunteering for campaigns or participating in protests.

Spreading awareness is important, obviously.

9. Sometimes, you try to just smile and nod when someone says something you don't agree with.

But you can only deal with it so long before you share your own opinion.

10. Sitting in classes about political and social issues can be rough.

Let's see how many guys in the class deny the need for feminism today. *sigh*

11. Sometimes people tell you to tone it down and talk about something unrelated to politics.

Time to go back to reading the news because you seriously can't deal with these people right now.

12. When you have to listen to that guy who thinks he knows everything about everything, you try to keep calm.

But he’s just wrong and you know it.

13. Your conversations can quickly turn into arguments.

One second your friend is making a comment about his “crazy ex-girlfriend,” and suddenly you’re discussing feminist theory and actively trying to smash the patriarchy. Why would someone make a controversial statement and not expect it to turn into a political debate? Like what did they expect to happen?

14. When you go on dates or meet someone for the first time, you try to leave politics out of the conversation.

But the presidential election is so much more interesting than the weather!

15. On occasion, you think about how much less stressful your life would be if you weren’t constantly reading the news, watching campaign ads and checking the polls because “ignorance is bliss” and all of that.

Think of all the fun you could have if you didn't check the polls every five minutes to see if your candidate is losing.

16. But then you quickly remember that ignorance is NOT bliss. You LOVE being informed and think everyone should be.

How else can you make a change?!

17. That’s why you’re not ashamed to post articles on Facebook, proudly display your political opinions on bumper stickers and encourage everyone you’ve ever met to go out and vote.

#sorrynotsorry

18. But if you see another Facebook rant from your narrow-minded uncle, you might start having doubts again.

Why does he think satirical articles are real?

19. And if you see one more person you went to high school with share an article from a blatantly slanted source…

Why can’t everyone just diversify their news sources?!?!

BuzzFeed CEO Says Ivanka Trump Made Some Lewd Comments of Her Own 8 Years Ago

Twitter was full of confused journalists Wednesday evening when Jonah Peretti, founder and CEO of BuzzFeed, tweeted that he was surprised to hear Ivanka Trump took offense at lewd comments-- because had heard her make lewd comments herself.

"Surprised Ivanka would be shocked by lewd language. I met her once & she casually said: ‘I’ve never seen a mulatto cock, but I’d like to!," Peretti tweeted. People were baffled by the tweet, wondering if Peretti had been hacked or meant the tweet as a joke. He later told a BuzzFeed News reporter by phone that the conversation took place eight to 10 years ago with a group of around 5 other people, at a bar called Tropical.

Peretti's wife and another anonymous source confirmed that the gathering did happen in 2008. Peretti's wife said she heard the quote.

Ivanka told BuzzFeed the story was a "complete and total lie," and the Trump campaign asked for an apology.

Peretti said he decided to tweet the quote because he felt it was relevant, given that Ivanka said she was surprised to hear her father's graphic language in the 2005 hot mic video released nearly two weeks ago. Her own alleged language would seem to show she makes lewd remarks herself, and that she uses outdated and racist language like "mulatto"—a word for a person of mixed black and white ancestry that is no longer appropriate to use.

While journalists on Twitter freaked out about the story, not everyone was impressed. Roxane Gay tweeted that the story added nothing to the election conversation while centering "the black body in a negative context." Others made the point that while Trump's awful comments about women clearly matter, Ivanka didn't talk about touching men without their consent—so her quote is much less harmful. Plus, Ivanka's not the one running for president.

Luckily, this election cycle is almost over. Let's get excited for the debate!

5 Ways to Overcome a Rough Patch in Your Relationship

$
0
0

A relationship isn’t all butterflies and rainbows. No matter how hard you may try to keep the peace, you and your partner are bound to clash at some point. Trust issues, miscommunication or lack of communication, jealousy, and insecurity are just a few issues which can take a toll on a relationship. Sometimes it’s easy to work through the problems you have, but other times these issues can take a major toll on your relationship. If you and your partner are willing to work together, not all hope is lost. You can still work toward bringing your relationship back to a place of happiness between you and your SO. If you commit to following these five tips, you can move past a rough patch in your relationship.

1. Communication

One of the biggest mistakes you can commit is not talking things through to avoid an arguement. Your emotions cannot be swept under the rug. You need to verbalize what you feel in an attempt to fix what is broken. If you choose to ignore the problems you are facing, the built up frustration could result in an even bigger argument, resentment, dissatisfaction, lack of trust or ultimately, a loss of interest in maintaining the relationship.

Lauren*, a junior at James Madison University, personally knows how big of a key communication is. “My boyfriend and I just went through/are still kind of going through a rough patch,” she says. “It's really important to talk things out and let each other know what's bothering you.”

Remember to stay calm, cool and collected when discussing emotional subjects. It's easy to let your emotions get the best of you, but don't make an already sticky situation more complex. Even if things are rocky between you two, still try to maintain the basic conversations you have everyday, such are what they are doing and how their day has been.

2. Take a timeout

While communication is key, it's also important to know that when you're not on the same page as your SO, constant communication can be a difficult task. So while you should talk through things to a certain extent, don't constantly dwell on the subject. Leave time for both of you guys to do your own thing and focus on your own goals.

Chrissy Sanchez, a sophomore at Georgia State University, stresses that this is not the same thing as break.

"When my boyfriend and I went through a period of constant arguing, I would just call for a few minutes in the morning and at night to check in on him," she says. "Other than that, I left him alone to do reflecting, and focus on important things like schoolwork, gym, and finances."

Depending on your current level of communication, you and your SO can decide on how much time you should leave each other to work on yourself. Don't let it be an overwhelming amount of time though. The longer you spend apart, the sooner one or both of you could become comfortable in living without the other.

3. Find common ground

If it’s an issue where you are both affected, you need to reach an agreement. That agreement should be a compromise. You both need to be happy, even if that means you have to apologize or give in to their requests a little. Go into the conversation stating what your opinion of the situation is, but remind your SO that you want to understand their thought process and hear them out as well.

Nicole Diaz, a sophomore at Chattahoochee Technical College, won’t leave an argument unsettled without reaching an agreement with her SO.

“Finding some sort of common ground where we both entirely agree or come close to agreeing is the most important part,” she says. “If we can’t fix the problem in that exact moment, my boyfriend and I will promise to work towards fixing whatever it was. Once we find that common ground, we try to move on and not stay stuck on the argument.”

Sometimes reaching that common ground may mean that you don’t always get what you want. Instead, think of it as reaching the solution that is most beneficial to the relationship.

4. Remember why you're with your SO

It’s easy to let the negativity cloud your mind. However, if you’re looking for hope and are having trouble finding it, think back to your best moments with your SO — how you met, the first date, the first time saying “I love you” and the best memories you’ve created together.

Shelly Adams, a junior at Shenandoah University, believes that positivity is one of the major components of getting your relationship back on the right track.

“When things are going really great in your relationship, you don't even think about how it could be bad,” she says. “But when they're bad, sometimes it's hard to remember when it was great! The point is that you need to be able to know that you still want to be with the other person at the end of the day. As long as you do, then just let the issue pass and you'll be back to normal in no time.”

You need to ask yourself if the entire span of memories and future between you two is worth giving up over the conflict. In some cases, if the issue is that serious and pressing, those memories can be worth giving up. However, more often than not, your relationship is worth fighting for.

5. Keep the spark alive

Sometimes, all you need is a break from the drama. If you and your SO have decided that you both still want to be together, plan an extra special date for you to go on.

Patricia Maynor, a junior at Kennesaw State University, recommends finding a way to get away from all the drama and busyness of everyday life with your SO.

“After several days of fighting with my SO, I was ready to give up,” she says. “However, I felt like getting away on a mini vacation was the final test to see if we should stick things out. One weekend, we took a trip to the beach. That alone time helped me discover the reasons why were love each other. We have been great ever since.”

Even if you're busy and can't plan anything too big, still try to plan something memorable that will span atleast an entire day. Seeing the spark reignited will help you focus on the love in your relationship rather than the momentary negativity between you and your SO.

It’s important to realize the difference between a toxic relationship and a rough patch. Constant disrespect, infidelity or abuse shouldn’t be brushed off as a “rough patch.” These actions cannot be moved past in some cases, but there are plenty of cases where the disagreements between you two can be worked out with patience. Don’t expect everything to be perfect overnight, but sticking to these rules should help get your relationship back on the right track.

As the third and final (thank goodness) presidential debate comes to a close, let’s all reflect together on the amount of wine we may or may not have drank. Okay, now continue reading. This evening, whether it was on the topic of abortion or Aleppo, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were tasked with proving to the American people that they are the right choice for President once and for all. But unfortunately, most the night was spent bickering like little children, just like all the other debates. Here are the seven most LOL things that were said tonight—and spoiler alert, The Donald is responsible for a good chunk of these.

1. Trump saying we have some "bad hombres" here

When discussing what regulations he would put on immigration in the U.S., Trump said that there are many people he wants to deport. When describing these people, he said that he believes we have some "bad hombres" in this country. Well, safe to say that people were not happy with this racist comment—just "men" in Spanish, but really not necessary in this context.

2. Trump calling Clinton a puppet

There've been many moments during the election where Trump has denied having any relationship with Russia, but tonight most definitely was his best rhetoric.

Trump: "Look, Putin, from everything I see, has no respect for this person."

Clinton: "Well, that's because he'd rather have a puppet for president than the United States and it's pretty clear."

Trump: "No puppet. You're the puppet."

Okay, Donald.

3. Trump repeating that no one has more respect for women than he does

This is not the first time, nor, it seems, will it be the last time, that Donald Trump has claimed to have more respect for women than anyone else in the world. Just gonna leave this here.

4. And THEN Trump saying that his sexual abuse allegations have been “largely debunked”

After a 2005 tape was released in which Trump boasted about being able to "grab women by the pussy" two weeks ago, multiple women have come forward saying that this is exactly what Trump did to them. When asked about these claims during the debate, Trump said that "those stories have been largely debunked," and are completely false. He even went on to claim that it was Clinton's campaign that launched these rumors. When asked about why these women would lie, he said, "I think they want either fame or her campaign did it...I think she got these people to step forward."

5. Trump saying he didn’t even apologize to his wife about the sexual assault claims, because he didn’t do anything wrong

Whether it's crude comments or sexual assault, there are many things that Trump really should apologize for. But you won't hear that from him. During tonight's debate, he said that he has not apologized to his wife, Melania, after at least nine women came forward to accuse him of sexual assault. “I didn’t even apologize to my wife because I didn’t do anything,” Trump said. Well, according to Melania, he actually did apologize. In an interview with Anderson Cooper this week, Melania said that “Those words, they were offensive to me and they were inappropriate," following up with, "he apologized to me. And I accept his apology. And we are moving on.” Woop, there it is.

6. Trump telling Hillary Clinton not to interrupt him

THIS. IS. THE. DEFINITION. OF. MANSPLAINING. Bye.

7. And Trump refusing to say he will accept the results of this election

Not sure if this is important or anything but, shouldn't the potential next President of the United States have faith in the United States government and the electoral process? Just a thought...

Thanks for the entertainment, Trump, but this is our country you are talking about, not your next reality TV show.
