Kerry Washington had some very important things to say about the Black Lives Matter movement this weekend. She recently gave birth to her second child, but that hasn't stopped her from speaking out in support of #BlackLivesMatter. The Scandal star took to Twitter on Saturday to talk about Deborah Danner, a 66-year-old schizophrenic woman from the Bronx who was killed by police inside her apartment last Tuesday. The shooting has not attracted national attention, despite causing a rift between the NYPD union and the new commissioner, James O'Neill.
Washington wrote that the loss of Deborah Danner "rattled my core. Not only bcuz of painful truth that we must continue to affirm that #BlackLivesMatter" but also because Danner was killed in the same community where Washington was raised. Our hearts go out to Washington and all of those affected by this loss. See all of Washington's tweets below:
It's a quiet Saturday afternoon. So, a few things I wanna get off my chest...

My heart aches. For lives lost and for the lives we must protect. For the humanity we must work to illuminate and preserve and affirm. #BLM
