9 Reasons Ben Should Pick Lauren B. on 'The Bachelor'

Leading up to Monday’s Bachelor finale, we’re extremely conflicted. That’s why we’re making pro lists (no cons because we’re sweet like that!) for each of Ben’s remaining ladies. Below you’ll find nine reasons why Lauren B. is the girl for Ben.

1. Ben is her person

Lauren B. is obviously a big Grey’s Anatomy fan because Ben is her person. When she told her sister this during hometown dates, we thought our hearts would burst.

2. He cries literally every time he talks about what a beautiful person she is

Watching Ben tear up each time he discusses the goddess that is Lauren B. is gut-wrenchingly adorable. Ben clearly has such strong feelings for her, and we adore moments like this when he realizes just how much he cares about her.

3. She accepts him even when he hot tub farts

On their first date, Ben had an awkward encounter with some hot tub bubbles. Being the classy lady that she is, Lauren B. just laughed through the whole thing with him.

4. Her wardrobe makes praise hands feel like an understatement

Ben should consider it an honor to (maybe one day) share more than half his closet with this fashionista.

5. Do it for the sea turtles!

The sea turtles, Ben. Remember the sea turtles? You sent them out to the great big ocean with only the love that you and Lauren B. share to guide them. Don’t let the turtles down, man.

6. She is a living Disney princess

When Amanda left, we had to find a replacement Disney princess to obsess over. Oh, hello, Lauren B. You are also overwhelmingly cute and loveable.

7. They totally seem like they could make it work in the real world

Is it just us or do Ben and Lauren B. already look like a real couple? If Ben picks her, we wouldn’t worry for a second that the duo might break up before a possibly televised wedding paid for by ABC could occur.

8. He told her he’s in love with her

Okay, so he told this to Lauren B. and JoJo. We get that someone is going to leave with a broken heart. Did we mention how much that sucks?

9. JoJo would make an amazing Bachelorette

We are so in love with JoJo. Ben setting her free would mean she’s available to fill the role of next season’s Bachelorette. Count us in!

Are you Team Lauren B. or Team JoJo, collegiettes?

Leading up to Monday’s Bachelor finale, we’re extremely conflicted. That’s why we’re making pro lists (no cons because we’re sweet like that!) for each of Ben’s remaining ladies. Below you’ll find nine reasons JoJo is Ben’s Mrs. Right.

1. She’s already Mrs. Higgins

That jersey—the jersey that had every woman in America frantically searching for one of her own. He dubbed her Mrs. Higgins back in Chicago, and that’s who she shall be.

2. Ben feels like himself around her

Ben is always saying that he feels like himself around JoJo. And what more could he ask for?

3. They’re both survivors

Remember when that helicopter “breeze” sent a cocktail table flying toward Ben and JoJo? Did they scream and run away? No, they did not. They stuck around and bravely fought off that scoundrel together.

4. She’s hilarious

JoJo has been a treat all season, but her Women Tell All bloopers proved just how charming she really is. Ben would be lucky to have such a ray of sunshine in his life.

5. Chad made their relationship stronger

When JoJo’s ex-boyfriend—with pretty obvious aid from producers—sent her a love note and a bouquet of red roses, Ben didn’t overreact. They worked through it together and came out the other side a much stronger pair. Haha, producers thwarted!

6. She probably drinks from the bottle, too

Mama JoJo drinks it straight from the bottle, and JoJo probably does too. Talk about a keeper!

7. Her brothers will kill him

JoJo’s brothers are prepared to murder Ben should the results not turn out the way they’d like. So it seems he’s in this thing whether he likes it or not.

8. He told her he’s in love with her

Granted, he dropped the L-bomb on both JoJo and Lauren B., making this more of an awkward pickle that will only end well for one girl. But, hey, if he means it, then he should choose her, right?

9. Lauren B. would make an amazing Bachelorette

We LOVE Lauren B. We already have stars in our eyes for the moment when she could possibly be named the next Bachelorette. If Ben picks JoJo, she’s got to be a lock, don’t you think?

11 Reasons Texting With Guys is the Worst

$

Men are often a mystery to us, and some of the things they do just make no sense, especially when we’re texting them. They send us all kinds of mixed signals, have the weirdest ways of flirtexting, and bring emojis into the picture at the dumbest of times. It’s pretty safe to say that guys are the most annoying texters out there—and here’s why sometimes, we just can’t deal.

1. When they don’t text you back but are all over social media

sad crying nene leakes cell phone

Do you not think I can see your Tweet or what?

2. When they give you a lackluster response

Responding with “lol” and “k” make it really difficult for us to carry on a conversation, guys!

3. When they initiate the conversation and then disappear

Seriously, though, where did you go? It’s not like you have anything better to do than text us.

4. When they really can’t grasp what you’re trying to say at all

tv reactions eyes eye roll kill me

No, sir, that’s not what I meant… don’t twist my words around! Just because I’m complaining about my best friend’s boyfriend does not mean I’m saying she’s too promiscuous!

5. Excessive use of emojis

While we’re serious fans of emojis, sometimes there can be too much of a good thing, and sometimes guys bring it there with their emoji use. What does [insert: llama crown burger emoji] mean, guys?

6. When you pour your heart out to them and they respond with only an emoji

What?! What is that supposed to mean?

7. When they aren’t taking the conversation in the direction you want it to go

If we’re going to be honest, we’ve all been there where we’re trying to lead the guy into a certain conversation (you know, the kind where we’re trying to get him to ask us out), and it’s the worst when they just won’t bite. You might think he doesn’t like you, but chances are he’s just being an idiot.

8. When they’re a completely different person over text than they are in person

reactions leighton meester gossip girl ugh eyeroll

Why are you so awesome in person but such a dud on the phone? Get it together, dude.

9. When he’ll chat you up all the time via text, but never in person

We get it — it’s way easier to be brave over the phone than in person, but that doesn’t mean you should look away when you see us in person!

10. When he falls asleep talking to you and doesn’t answer in the morning

We’re not looking for sappy, super romantic morning texts, but when we ask a question and you’re already asleep, that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to know the answer ever. Actually, we want to know it as soon as you’re awake. Text us back!

11. When he’s got his read receipts on

…and it’s extra annoying when you can see the read the message, but he isn’t answering. Seriously, you’re just enabling my crazy girl side, and I don’t need that!

Whether he’s your boyfriend, your best friend or your next door neighbor you’re trying to get to know, one thing is for sure: guys have got the worst texting habits ever, and we don’t know if we’ll ever see a change.

Kelsea Ballerini Spills on Her Squad, Rapid Success & a Possible Drake Collab

Country artist Kelsea Ballerini is a multitalented force of nature with two #1 singles, two ACM award nominations and a girl squad to rival Tay's. Naturally, when I got "dibs" on a bit of the singer's time, I jumped at the opportunity to ask her to be friends and she was just like, "Welcome! Welcome to the group." So if you're looking for me, I'll just be hopping on over to Nashville, Tennessee, where my new BFF moved at age 15 to pursue her musical dreams and shake up the country music industry with her sass, talent and perseverance. In the meantime, check out the rest of our conversation to learn about Kelsea's path to success and what's in the books for her in the months to come.

Did you always know you wanted to be a singer?

Kelsea Ballerini: Definitely not. I grew up in East Tennessee and I thought I wanted to be a dancer for a long time, and then I thought that I wanted to be a vet for a long time. Singing just wasn’t a thing that, in my head, I thought you could do. Like I thought that the people that were singers—I don’t know—had some sort of magic power, so I didn’t know I could do it. So when I started writing songs when I was 12, that’s when I really wanted to try, at least.

You started writing songs when you were 12?!

KB: Yeah!! I was such a little nugget, writing songs all the time.

That’s really cool! Did you do talent shows and stuff?

KB: Umm… I did, yeah, I did, but I was kind of private about it at first, because, I don’t know, I didn’t have a ton of friends and I just wrote songs all the time and it wasn’t really until I went to Nashville that I was very vocal about wanting to be a singer-songwriter.

About country music, what specifically about it speaks to you?

KB: Well, I grew up on a farm in East Tennessee, so I just have very Southern roots and a Southern upbringing and… It’s funny, when I was really young, I didn’t even listen to country but, you know, I had a farm and I would go to church with my big family on Sunday and then have fried chicken after, like, I was living a very country lifestyle, so as soon as I started listening to country music, I really connected with it because of my roots.

Was there a moment in your career when you like, “Okay, I’ve made it?” Maybe hearing yourself on the radio, or something like that—just a big step?

KB: Yeah, I call them mountain-top moments and they’re the moments when you’re like, “Man, I don’t think I’m gonna forget this one.” Hearing my song on the radio for the first time was definitely one, singing at the Grand Ole Opry, getting AMA, CMA and CMT nominations, and getting to perform with Taylor Swift. I mean, there’s been a couple that are like blowing my mind.

And it’s all happened really fast, right?

KB: Yeah, relatively quick, it’s all been in the last year and a half.

You’re releasing a new single. What is it about?

KB: Oh my gosh, yes, I’m so excited. It’s called “Peter Pan” and it’s a take on the story that everyone knows, like the boy who can’t grow up, but it’s kind of talking about it in a relationship sense. It’s about the kind of heartbreak where like nothing dramatic happens, it’s just like one person can’t emotionally match the other. I’m so proud of this song, I’m really excited to put it out.

Can I ask what inspired it?

KB: Well I mean, I know I’ve personally dated a couple guys that I feel that way about and a lot of my friends have too. You know, I think you either have or know someone that has had a heartbreak.

Is there someone that you would just die to collaborate with?

KB: I love collaborations and I’ve always wanted to do one on every record. Gavin DeGraw, I would love to work with, Taylor Swift, I would love to work with, Drake one day would be cool… I have a bunch.

Has there been anyone in country music that you’ve met that’s been really inspiring for you?

KB: I mean, everyone’s so nice, but Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum, she’s like my big sister, she’s like the most incredible person, and then she’s also an incredible artist and that’s the best combination in the whole world.

Has it been difficult for you being a woman in country? Do you think you’ve been treated differently because you’re young and a woman?

KB: I think, you know when I first moved to town, as a young, happy-go-lucky singer-songwriter… it’s definitely hard for people to take you seriously. That was definitely a struggle for me, but as far as girls on the radio, it’s hard for me to speak to that because my first two singles went number one and I’ve had massive support, so I know that there’s been a giant lack of females for the last few years, but I think that we’re in a trend right now where females are coming back and I’m very, very, very honored to be a part of that.

Do you have anything coming up in the near future, apart from the single, that you’re super excited about?

KB: The video for the single! Honestly, it’s the most epic thing I’ve ever been a part of. You know, it’s funny, I really wanted to do a very serious video for the song… until I saw the treatment that we ended up doing. It’s something I would have never thought of and it’s such a different take on the story, and so we made it into like a mini movie.

So is it kind of like the Taylor Swift “You Belong With Me” video?

KB: No, not at all. It’s very like dark and more mature than I’m used to.

So is it kind of a break from what you were doing before?

KB: I mean, I think even just with the song. With “Love Me Like You Mean It” and “Dibs,” I show the fun, young, pop-y side of me, but I think with this song I show more depth and more songwriting, so we wanted the video to match that.

So did you write the song?

KB: I did, yeah. I get to write every song I put out, which I’m very thankful for.

I’ve kind of asked this before, but has there been someone—like a friend or a family member—who’s been super instrumental in your career?

KB: Well, my mom, for sure. She moved to town with me when I was 15 to help me get started. She was dropping me off at meetings and she’s been a huge part of making all this what it is. She’s a rockstar.

Did you meet any people who were about your age when you moved to Nashville, who were trying to get into music as well?

KB: Yeah! You totally make friends with people that you’re going through the same things with. Even right now, I’m really good friends with Cam and Maddie & Tae, we’re all kind of walking through it together and we’re all around the same age. It’s important to have that community of sisters, you know.

Yeah! And that’s a really cool group, like I want to be friends with you guys.

KB: Welcome! Welcome to the group.

Thank you! I have one last question: is there a life lesson you’ve learned, something you’d really want to share with our readers?

KB: I think honestly knowing who you are and standing up for who you are in any aspect, whether you’re into music or whatever, I just think that being able to take the time to figure out who you are and stand for that is a big, big deal. There are so many voices all over the place, trying to influence people and it’s important to kind of discover yourself, you know?

How She Got There: Lara Parker, Editor at Buzzfeed

Name: Lara Parker
Job Title and Description: Editor at Buzzfeed
Twitter Handle: @laraeparker
Website:www.laraeparker.com

What was your first entry-level job or internship in your field and how did you get it?

Lara Parker: That’s a hard question because I didn't actually have internships for writing. I started out in communications and public relations, so my first internship was with a tech company doing social media and writing blogs, so I guess that kind of works. It was a really fun company, but I was writing about things that were hard to get excited about because it was tech-related. I can’t even remember the terms at this point—that’s how long it’s been and how much it’s stuck with me. I was writing a lot of blog posts and I would always try to insert humor and make it funny. That’s when I started being like, hey, writing can be fun. So when I graduated from college, I was waiting to go to grad school—I had been accepted to a school in London—and I was having some health issues so I was just kind of at home for nine months, and I was working as a PR assistant at an agency but in my free time, I was freelancing and blogging.

How did you figure out you wanted to do something different, like write for Buzzfeed?

LP: I was spending a lot of my time reading Buzzfeed and I used to post on the community page at work. I was like, “This is really bad, I shouldn’t be doing this at work,” and it dawned on me that oh, Buzzfeed’s a company—why don’t I work there?

What does your current job entail? Is there such a thing as a typical day?

LP: Now as an editor at Buzzfeed, I manage three writers, so my typical day a lot of the time is looking at posts and giving feedback, coming up with new ways to talk about things, trying to brainstorm. I can’t say every day is the same thing because there’s always some crazy thing happening on the Internet, but it’s just being on Twitter a lot and seeing what people are talking about, checking Facebook and thinking about ways to talk about things. A lot of it is just having conversations with my co-workers—like, oh this thing bothers you too? Maybe this is a post-type thing. It’s not as exciting as it seems!

What is the best part of your job?

LP: It has to be the people I work with. I work with incredibly smart, talented people. It makes it really fun to bounce ideas off of each other, and just being able to talk to each other about things that I care about—it’s fun. And I like being on the Internet all the time.

What is one thing you wish you knew about your industry when you first started out that you know now?

LP: I wish I would’ve known how vicious people can be—and by people, generally I mean people that read and comment on your articles. Everyone always says not to read the comments on your articles, but when you’re not a writer, that’s easy to say. When you’ve written the article and it’s about something that’s happened to you or is attached to you personally, reading something that may not seem super mean to someone else can affect you in a whole different way. It’s just good practice to take it with a grain of salt and just kind of avoid that in a lot of ways.

Who is one person who changed your professional life for the better?

LP: My old internship boss and dear friend, Breena Fain. She taught me how to see my worth, how to make others see it, and how to ask for what I deserve. It's incredibly important for women to know how to do these things in any career field, but especially media.

What is one mistake you made along the way and what did you learn from it?

LP: Honestly, not being able to see my worth. It's a big, big mistake when you allow others to determine your worth. You cannot rely on others to determine how you feel about yourself. You have to find that within, and you have to always be on your own side. I wasn't for a long time. And I wish I could go back and change that. But all I can do is be better now. I repeat: Always be on your own side.

What has been the most surreal moment of your career thus far?

LP: There was a moment when I was back home in Indiana, which is where I grew up. I was in Target there, and at Buzzfeed, I write a lot about Target because I love it. I mean, who doesn't? I was in a video actually about thoughts every woman has at Target. It went all over Facebook. So, I was in this Target at home that I had always gone to in high school and college, and this girl recognized me and was like, “Hey! You’re the girl from the Buzzfeed Target video.” I was like, “Yes, I am!” It was just this moment where I was like, “Holy shit.” Not only is someone recognizing me, but it was in my home, this place I always go back to. It was super surreal.

What advice would you give to a 20-something with similar aspirations?

LP: There’s this quote that I always go back to, and it’s kind of lame because it’s on Pinterest or whatever, but it’s, “If you don’t build your dreams, someone else will hire you to build theirs.” It’s kind of cliche that everyone’s always like, “Follow your dreams!” and I hate adding to that cliché, but also I really, truly believe that. That doesn’t mean if you want to be a movie star, starring in some 20 million dollar blockbuster that you’re going to see it tomorrow—but take steps every day to get on the right path to your dreams. Like, if you want to be a writer at Buzzfeed, start by freelancing, writing on the community page, start following the writers and seeing what they do—that type of stuff. Doing something small every day—that’s how you get closer to your dreams even if your dream is still really far away.

19 Recipes For the 'Gilmore Girls' Fanatic

$

You know you're jealous of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore's metabolisms. Watching them eat the most delicious (and unhealthy) foods has been inspirational to girls like us who love some good takeout and eating entire cakes in one sitting. In honor of the upcoming Gilmore Girls reboot, we decided to round up snacks worthy of a Gilmore. Munch on these goodies while watching old episodes and waiting not-so-patiently for those new episodes to arrive.

1. Stuff 'n Clutter Snack Mix

We figure that the girls would start out small when it comes to making their own treats for movie night. This one's a savory mix of all your favorites (plus bacon!). We're sure it will disappear in a flash.

2. Walking Nachos

Since the girls are always on the run, whether they're late or just avoiding an awkward Friday night dinner, these convenient and spicy snacks are awesome. Plus, they're cute and small enough to justify seconds…or thirds.

3. Mini Popcorn Balls with Chocolate Fondue

These popcorn balls combine the two best flavors—sweet and salty! They're great for a girls' night in, binge-watching shows and swapping stories. Can't you picture the Gilmore girls snacking on these while doing just that?

4. Nutella Stuffed Pancakes

Luke's Diner has surely added Nutella to the menu by now, right? Though the ladies might opt for less fruit on top, we'll leave that up to you.

5. Homemade Pop-Tarts

When they aren't noshing on diner food for breakfast, Lorelai and Rory usually have Pop-Tarts. Why not try your hand at making your own from scratch?

6. Soft Pretzel Bites

No one can resist these bite-sized snacks while on a trip to the mall; imagine how much better they'd be in the comfort of your own home (where you can eat as many as you want!). Go crazy with the toppings—stick with the savory theme or dip them in something sweet.

7. Hostess Cupcakes

Instead of going all the way to your nearest Dosey's Market for some sweet treats, make your own with ingredients you've already got hiding in your pantry! These cupcakes are just like the tasty store-bought kind, too.

8. Cheesy Bacon Burger Fries

It's like all your favorite items from the diner menu got together for a party. In other words, this recipe is a total dream come true! Instead of ordering crazy chili fries at a fast food restaurant, make these yourself so you know they'll have exactly everything you like.

9. The Ultimate Burger Dog

Another great example of why diner foods should join forces. This snack does require some grilling, but it's a small price to pay for a great dinner with a fun twist.

10. Pizza Pinwheels

Everyone loves pizza, especially our favorite mother/daughter duo, so why not celebrate that love with a new take on the classic? These snacks are easy enough to make and even easier to pop in your mouth while watching Netflix.

11. Zesty Ranch Fries

Another iconic snack nobody can deny? French fries, and we've got a fantastic spin on those, too! These have a bit of a kick to them, which we think the Gilmore girls (and you) would enjoy.

12. Hot Chocolate Fudge

Here's another gift for your sweet tooth. The best part about this recipe is that you can make it in a microwave—how easy is that? This fudge is perfect paired with a cup of actual hot chocolate, too!

13. Sweet Sushi

You can have dessert sushi—just like the girls did when Lorelai turned the house into Asia—but use a lot less energy to make it. Substitute some of these candies for your favorite candy if you'd like. Regardless, imagine how cute you'll look eating these at home in your robe.

14. Coffee Cake in a Mug

If we know anything about the Gilmore girls' slightly bad habits, it's that they're crazy about coffee. So, they would obviously be obsessed with this coffee cake.

15. Mini Corn Dogs

Everyone wants a corn dog when they go to a carnival, but you can bring that novelty to your own kitchen. We know the Gilmore girls would in a heartbeat, especially since these are super easy to make.

16. S'more Cheese Ball

This heavenly hunk of future cavities is great for dipping graham crackers or—as any Gilmore girl would—an even sweeter cookie. Trust us, you'll be hooked on this simple snack!

17. Easy Homemade Egg Rolls

Instead of calling Al's Pancake World, make these yummy egg rolls. You can customize them to fit your taste buds, and you won't have to feel embarassed about how many you would have ordered.

18. Easy Cinnabon Monkey Bread

Monkey bread is a childhood fave for a reason. If you've never had it, this is the recipe to try.

19. Garlic Cheese Bombs

Put your worries of bad breath aside and dig into these adorable and insanely good snacks. You know that your favorite Gilmores would!

The Gilmore gals may not be the most avid cooks, but their taste in food is undeniably delicious. Which of these recipes will you be attempting first?

Zendaya Fires Back at Comedian Who Body-Shamed Her

$

Saturday night was a big night for Zendaya Coleman, who won the award for Favorite Female TV Star at the Kids' Choice Awards. In her acceptance speech, she thanked parents for allowing her to be a role model for their children. But comedian Julie Klausner took the liberty of adding, "And thinspo model for your impressionable tweens." This marked the beginning of a slew of tweets in which Klausner shamed Zendaya for her slim figure, falsely accusing her of starving herself. She went on to say, "You don't have to have an eating disorder to attend the Kids' Choice Awards....but it helps!"

Zendaya, who has always appeared naturally slender, tweeted, "Do you find this funny? I will write another paragraph to educate you aswell ‪#youreallywannabenext?" This tweet alludes to the time Rancic said Zendaya's locs looked as if they smelled of patchouli oil and weed, and Zendaya eloquently shut her down in a paragraph explaining the implications of the disrespectful stereotype.

Klausner tweeted back, “cant wait,” before defending her earlier comments: "I will never stop criticizing celebs who perpetuate dangerous beauty standards for a generation of girls who grow up thinking they're fat."

We wholeheartedly agree that young women shouldn’t be made to feel inadequate in their bodies by celebrities and the media, but when body positivity involves shaming girls with skinnier figures, it is no longer body positive. For Klausner to preach, “All women are beautiful” and yet joke that a skinny 19-year-old girl must be starving herself is not only contradictory, but also insensitive. Eating disorders are nothing to joke about, and a comedian such as Klausner should have known better.

And to say Zendaya is perpetuating dangerous beauty standards is a stretch. She may be a skinny actress who young children look up to, but she has always used her platform to encourage fans to be true to themselves and love themselves as they are. She addressed the situation in a similar manner by tweeting, “everyone go look in the mirror at their beautiful body, and love that shit ‪#thickgirlswinning‪#skinnygirlswinning‪#weallwinning

Her tweet reminds us that we should be embracing people of all body types, not uplifting some by tearing others down. As Zendaya said, no matter what body type we have, we're all beautiful and we're all winning.

6 Reasons You Should Take a Nap on National Napping Day, as told by Friends

$

0

Today is National Napping Day! What better way to celebrate than by learning about the benefits of napping—and then taking a nap, of course!

1. Relaxation

Could there be a more relaxing way to unwind in the middle of the afternoon? I think not, and I’m sure your cat would agree.

We all know that the stresses of everyday college life can take a toll on our overall health. Napping may help to reduce this stress.

2. Reduced fatigue

There’s no point in going through the day tired. When you’re tired, your productivity is reduced. Next time your faced with the most important existential question (to nap or not to nap?), I hope you nap. Once you’ve woken, it’s likely that the things on your to do list will be checked off more quickly that they would have been before your nap.

3. Increased alertness

Who among us hasn’t had an inordinate amount of typos while attempting to churn out a paper in the wee hours of the morning? It’s easy to miss mistakes when you’re tired. Yet another point in favor of the power nap.

4. Improved mood

It’s easy to be irritable when you think about all of the responsibilities on your plate. Instead of worrying, take a nap. You’ll probably wake up refreshed and with a much more positive outlook on life.

5. Quicker reaction time

This one is important for athletes. Napping can improve your reaction time, which in turn can improve athletic performance. Why not try a nap before the next big game?

6. Better memory

There’s nothing quite so dreaded in the life of a college student as exam period. Trying to cram all the facts you’ve learned in a semester is difficult. Make it easier by taking a nap between study sessions. Then, you’ll remember more of what you’re studying.

Before you tuck yourself in for a cozy afternoon nap, it’s important to remember a few key things for optimum napping. Keep your naps under 30 minutes, nap in the afternoon, and nap in a dark and quite spot. Happy National Napping Day!

The 'One Tree Hill' Reunion You've Been Waiting For Finally Happened

One Tree Hill fans were in for the cutest surprise this weekend. Bethany Joy Lenz and James Lafferty, who starred as Haley James Scott and Nathan Scott, reunited at the second annual Eyecon One Tree Hill convention and posted a selfie together, reassuring fans that Naley is alive and well.

Lenz and Lafferty's characters Haley and Nathan were just a pair of teens who got married in high school, but their ability to overcome obstacles to maintain their stable, loving relationship made them one the most beloved couples in TV history. Since OTH ended in 2012, Naley shippers have been wondering how the high school sweethearts were doing. To put fans at ease, Lenz posted this sweet pic with Lafferty on her Instagram account, captioning it, "As per your request!" with the hashtags "#hubby" and "#alwaysandforever."

Continuing the nostalgia-fest, Lafferty shared a photo of himself and little Jamie Scott, who is not so little anymore. Seems this cast knows all too well—there's only one Tree Hill, and it's your home.

Spring Break FOMO: How to Deal

$

While vacationing in the warm sun of Cancun or partying on the beaches of Miami may seem like the ideal spring break, not all of us can afford (both financially and mentally) to go away for the week. It may seem like a good idea to stay home or at school for your week off to catch up on sleep and assignments, but once you’ve scrolled through your social media feeds, you may second guess your decision to staycation—and even feel down about missing out on all the fun.

Instead of fearing, we spoke to Dr. Roy Michael Stefanik, psychiatrist and professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, about how to deal with FOMO.

1. Turn off social media for the week

It may seem like a cruel punishment to step away from all connections to the outside world, but when you log out of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc., you’re doing yourself a favor. It may be tempting to creep on #SpringBreak2016 and follow everyone’s vacation updates, but it won’t turn out positive in the end.

On the outside, it’s absolutely harmless to scroll through your Twitter and Instagram feeds to see what the world is up to, but it can actually make you feel worse than when you started.

“[There have been] a number of academic studies connecting passive following on sites such as Facebook and Instagram (with vacation photos as a prime trigger) to activated feelings of envy and resentment,” says Dr Stefanik. That so called social media envy? It’s a real thing.

Even if you think you won’t get caught up in everyone’s vacation photos, the most probable outcome is that you will be left feeling down about not going away. Trying a social media cleanse will not only stop you from becoming envious of getaways that are out of your reach, but it will also give you more time to focus on being productive.

2. Remember why you stayed home

You stayed home for a reason, right? Whether it was because you wanted to save your money (hello, high tuition fees!) or to get ahead on your school assignments, there’s more to staying home than just not being away. It sucks to have to stay behind while everyone else is having fun, but think of it this way: imagine how much more you’re accomplishing staying back. You have the money you saved from not going away (check!), you have possibly completed an assignment or two (check!), you are well-rested and not completely sunburned (check!) and you don’t have to deal with the post-vacation upset of realizing you have class the next day.

3. Plan a staycation!

You may think you have experienced it all in your city, but you’re probably wrong! There’s always something new or different to explore, and this is your chance to do so. Sydnee Lyons, a first year grad student at Florida Atlantic University, recommends taking a day or two to “staycation” in your city.

“I love finding cool/cute places in my area that I haven't been to before. A simple Google search usually brings up tons of options. I love being outdoors, and that's pretty easy to do wherever you are,” Sydnee says. “Some of my favorite things to do are a pizza picnic at the beach or at a park, hiking, biking around the neighborhood, going to museums/art exhibits, finding cute coffee shops or other cozy dining spots (I use Yelp for this) or just driving around taking pictures.”

If you haven’t had a day to explore all the tourist sights in the city, do that! Be a tourist for a day—pretend you’ve never been to wherever you are and make the most of it. Whatever you decide to do, pretend you’ve travelled to that city for a vacation and go all out!

4. Talk to someone

While having social media envy may not be something new (don’t we all want to take those perfect selfies à la Khloe Kardashian?), continuously feeling this way over missing out may be a sign of something bigger. Dr. Stefanik recommends going to see someone if you’re feeling down. You can go the professional route and see a counselor at your school’s counseling center or just confide in a friend. Either way you’ll be able to get your feelings out, and who knows? Maybe the person you talk to has felt the same way you do.

Spring break is just another school vacation given out to break up your semester so you don’t go crazy with non-stop school. While the stereotype claims you need to go out and take a physical vacation, there are so many times in your life (even summer or winter break) where you can do that. Use this time to take a deep breath and remember that the school year is almost finished!

Hufflepuffs are the underdog house at Hogwarts. While your first instinct might not be to date a Hufflepuff, we’ve got a bunch of reasons to convince you otherwise.

1. COME ON! We are super famous for our dedication and loyalty. That’s the first step to any successful relationship.

2. Plus, we are consistently and genuinely kind. That sounds like the making of a perfect companion.

3. We have Cedric Diggory, a hotty hot Hufflepuff champion.

4. We also have Helga Hufflepuff, who was just a wonderful lady and total boss.

7. We won’t turn into a total Dementor every time we have a fight; it’s just not in our nature.

8. Despite popular belief, we actually have a ton of really incredible withes and wizards, so we are guaranteed to be successful providers later in life.

9. We stayed to help Harry fight Voldemort, so we will definitely help defend you in any of your battles.

10. Nobody but us can look that gorgeous in yellow, let’s be real.

11. Our common room is right next to the kitchens. This may not have anything to do with our personal qualities. It’s just extra incentive.

12. If Tonks is any sort of representation of our women, you aren’t even ready for how cool we are.

13. Our smolder.

14. We’re just plain NICE. How many nice people are left in the wizarding world these days? We’re a breath of fresh air.

15. J.K. Rowling has said, “In many, many ways, Hufflepuff is my favourite house.” You’ve heard it from the queen herself.

Kylie Jenner knows how to pose for a camera. She put her modeling skills on display recently in her new PUMA campaign. E! News reported in February that Kylie would be modeling for the athleticwear company, and we just got our first glimpse at the photos when Kylie uploaded one to her Instagram account yesterday.

The campaign showcases the brand's newest shoes, which PUMA describes as a "lightweight laceless training shoe designed to be both versatile and functional and mixes performance-ready technology with street-worthy styling." They sound perfect—don't we love to wear our comfy workout clothes outside of the gym?

The Global Director of Brand and Marketing for PUMA, Adam Petrick, said, "Kylie Jenner represents the young and bright future of fashion and fitness for women and we are excited to have her be the face of this campaign." Kylie is definitely an influential star who is in touch with the latest trends, so we have to agree. You'll be able to see the rest of the campaign roll out on April 1.

Although Kanye West has a lot of hate to throw around, he seems to have a lot of love for the Biebs.

Today, he tweeted about his favorite song from 2015: "What Do You Mean?"

This might just be the first time we've ever agreed with something Kanye has said. JB, we do love that song. To top it off, Kim Kardashian snapped a video of hubby Kanye singing along to it in the car.

Getting Kanye's stamp of approval is no easy feat, so Justin's probably feeling pretty good about it right now.

6 Ways To Show Your Significant Other You Love Them

The month of love is over but that doesn’t mean you can’t still show your love and appreciation for your significant other! Whether it’s by surprising them with a romantic date or showering them with words of gratitude, nothing is too big or too small. If you're undecided as to how to show some affection, we’ve come up with a list of ways to let your sweetheart know they’re loved on every day of the year.

1. Be direct!

According to clinical psychologist Dr. Mark Sharp of the Aiki Relationship Institute, the best way to show your significant other that you love them is to literally tell them. However, the problem of feeling too vulnerable is often what keeps people from doing so. “Loving someone and expressing it is always making yourself vulnerable to some degree. Part of the process of becoming mature enough yourself to be in a relationship is becoming secure enough to handle the relationship,” he says. Another thing that turns people off from verbally professing their love is their fear of scaring away the other person. But the answer to that dilemma is within the problem itself according to Dr. Sharp. “As far as freaking your significant other out, if that is the outcome it means one of a couple of things – either they aren’t at the same place in the relationship or they have some maturing do before they are really ready to be in a relationship,” he says. So in short, his consensus? Take the risk! If your partner doesn’t respond the way you want them to, it’s better to know where you stand with them sooner than later.

2. Carry them with you

Not literally of course, but in the sense of carrying their presence with you. “When we love or deeply care about someone, we carry a sense of their presence with us and think about them often, even when they are not with us,” says Dr. Sharp. He states that even though our partners aren’t physically with us sometimes, it’s important to make them feel like they are. “When something happens that reminds you of your significant other, let them know; send them a text with a quick note about what happened or a picture of what you saw that reminded you of them,” he suggests. Letting your partner know that you’re thinking of them when they’re not around goes a long way in making the relationship last.

3. Understand that they may love differently than you do

If you’re familiar with The 5 Love Languages, then this tip should be a breeze for you. Not everyone experiences or expresses love in the same way. For instance, you may think that showering your loved one with gifts is the perfect way to show you love them while they are more comfortable with giving you random compliments throughout the day instead. “It is good to keep in mind that if your significant other seems to be totally unaffected by what you think are clear demonstrations of love, they might just experience it differently,” Dr. Sharp notes. Have some knowledge of how your partner likes to be loved so that way there isn’t any confusion down the road

4. Put them first

“A lot of relationships tend to be me-centered but if we really want to have a good relationship then we should always be thinking about how we can help our SO instead of making it all about us,” says Abigail Megginson, a junior at the University of West Florida. And she’s right. Although it is important to look out for yourself in a relationship, rejecting your partner’s needs isn’t fair to do. Abigail adds that a few things you could do to show your significant other how important they are to you includes buying them books or songs that they’ve been wanting or calling them randomly just to talk to them.

5. Show your partner that you trust them

The level of trust between you and your significant other can definitely impact how healthy your relationship is. Dr. Barton Goldsmith, nationally syndicated columnist and author of Emotional Fitness for Couples: 10 Minutes a Day to a Better Relationship stresses the importance of strong trust in a relationship. “Love can’t flourish in a world of distrust,” he says. Instilling trust in your partner can often be easier said than done, especially if you've been hurt in previous relationships. However, bringing those same trust issues into a new relationship will do more harm than good. For instance, if your significant other says they are going out with some friends that you haven't met before, don't immediately jump to conclusions. Get the full story before creating assumptions in your head that probably aren't even true!

6. Surprise them with gifts

Giving your significant other a token of appreciation from time to time can go a long way when trying to express how much you love them. Alaina Leary, a first year graduate student at Emerson College, says that whenever she has some extra cash to spend, she loves to buy her partner gifts just because. “I try to buy them unique things, to show them I really know them, like a bracelet with a custom quote on it,” she says. Buying or making your significant other something that has a significant meaning behind it can not only strengthen your connection with them, but it will also show them that you were thinking of them.

Why Ben & Lauren From 'The Bachelor' Are Built to Last

Just moments ago, the world got to watch Ben Higgins propose to "his person" Lauren Bushnell—and to say we are thrilled is sort of an understatement. Of course, he still took us through sort of a roller coaster ride over the course the hours-long episode... remember when he was feeling iffy about the fact that his relationship with Lauren was too perfect? Ben, you had us freaking out for a moment (and not in the good way).

Well, this insane journey was clearly worth it, and we can't WAIT to see them join the small-but-mighty crew of adorable Bachelor couples who have actually lasted. Here's why we think they'll make it:

1. Lauren's friends and family are in

We saw how anti-Ben JoJo's brothers were, and that's been giving us pause since. But Lauren's squad? Well, they've all been team Ben from the start. Lauren's dad was more than happy to give Ben his blessing, and we knew then that the relationship was starting off on the right foot.

2. Lauren has been serious throughout the whole process

On their first date, Lauren let slip that she wants to meet Ben's family. In an everyday situation, that might be considered coming off too strong—but in Bachelor time, it's vital to lay it all on the table right away.

3. They are ALWAYS happy to see each other

If this is how they greet each other every time they see one another, you know they'll be keepin' the love ~alive~ for many years to come.

4. Ben literally whooped with delight when her father gave him his blessing

Then, during the proposal, he told her, "I wanna wake up every morning and kiss you on the face"—TOO. CUTE.

5. They had the serious convos—right away

Lauren revealed on After The Final Rose that Ben didn't wait to talk about everything)—his relationships with the women throughout his season, how he felt about JoJo at the time... just about everything that could have blindsided her. That's not an easy conversation to have, especially after the happiest moment of your life, so the fact that Ben did what he needed to do right away shows their love is greater than what we saw on the show.

6. They've already made plans for the future

How many times have we met Bachelor couples who are still up in the air about their future plans? Not this time. Lauren already has plans to move to Denver right away, and neither of them have held back about wanting to get married—as Chris Harrison reminded us again and again, Ben's been ready to marry Lauren for a while now, and Lauren made clear she's not looking to wait long, either. So even though the wedding didn't happen on ATFR, these two are clearly on the same page.

9 Things You Should Never Say to a Professor

$

0

Whether it’s the first class you’ve ever taken or you’re one semester away from graduating, talking one-on-one to your professor or even asking a question in the middle of class can be intimidating. Especially in large lecture classes, where it’s difficult to get to know your professor on a personal level, it can be tricky to predict how he or she will respond to what you say.

Whether you’re saying them in front of your class or during office hours, there are some things that will flat-out annoy your professor to hear. Take a look at some of these questions professors would prefer not to hear.

1. “I did badly on this exam. Can I retake it?”

Don’t expect to be treated differently from other students, advises Erica Flapan, a mathematics professor at Pomona College. While professors do want their students to succeed, they’re required to treat all students the same. “So if the professor gave you a retest, he/she would have to give the entire class a retest,” Flapan says.

If you’re seriously concerned about your grade, try seeing if there are extra-credit opportunities, or ask your professor in his or her office hours how you can improve your study tactics for next time.

2.  “Is this going to be on the test?”

Professors put in a lot of time and effort into preparing lectures and determining what students should be gaining from their classes. “Such a question implies that you are only interested in material that will be tested,” Flapan says.

Instead, she suggests you ask, “How does this material fit together with X,” where “X” is something that you had previously learned.  “This shows that you have been following and are interested in getting the big picture,” she explains.

3. “When will I ever need to know this information?”

While you probably won’t need to whip out the quadratic formula during lunch, each course you take is designed to teach you specific information for a particular reason. Your professor wouldn’t be teaching you how to factor equations or the history of the rise and fall of Rome if you didn’t need to know it to fully understand the course subject matter.

“The faculty is the faculty because they are experts in their field,” says Scott Sandage, an associate professor of history at Carnegie Mellon University. “As a whole, they know what it is that one needs to learn to be educated in the specific [subject] that is at hand.”

4. “Why is this course required?”

While some of those gen-ed courses might seem unnecessary to your particular major, there’s a reason why they are included in your schedule. But, assuming the course is required for your major, Sandage says the bottom line is that professors think, “In my expert opinion, it will improve your education to take this course or to have this distribution requirement.” Also, it can be plain offensive to question why a teacher’s course is relevant!

5. “Last semester when I took a course in your department with Professor X, he/she taught it this other way.”

No two professors will teach the same material the same way. “Each professor has [his or her] own style and philosophy of teaching, and does not want to be told to be like someone else,” Flapan says.

Just because one professor let you hand in homework late or allowed you to redo assignments does not mean that every professor will be that way. If you truly do not like a professor’s style, Flapan recommends that “you can drop the class or plan to take it with someone else.”

6. “I can’t do the homework. Please tell me how to do it.”

According to Flapan, professors assign homework with the expectation that it will be challenging.  If you have actually worked on an assignment and still can’t figure it out, Flapan suggests you “go to the professor’s office hours and explain the approach you took to solve a particular problem and where you got stuck. This shows the professor that you have made an effort, and also allows the professor to see what you do and do not understand.  The professor can then help you with the problem as well as with your overall understanding of the material.”

7. “You gave my friend more points for doing the same thing.”

Your professor teaches tons of students and grades just as many papers. Chances are he or she doesn’t remember how your friend’s paper was graded or whether or not it was actually the same. If you want to bring this to your professor’s attention, Flapan suggests, “You should bring your friend’s paper with you so that the professor can see that the papers really are the same. Of course, doing so could result in the professor taking points away from you friend, though in general, this will not happen.”

8. “I missed class because I was sick. Can I turn in the assignment late?”

Unless you are gravely ill, most professors will not accept an excuse after the fact, Flapan says. If you are unable to complete an assignment or take an exam, she says, “You should contact the professor before the exam or assignment and ask if it’s possible to make it up or have an extension.  Some professors may ask for a doctor’s note or a note from the dean of students to verify that you were actually too sick to complete the assignment or take the exam.” Your best bet is to do this before an assignment is due—don’t wait until you’re all better to contact your professor.

9. “I forgot my pencil. Do you have any extras?”

Coming to an exam and announcing your lack of pencil, calculator or any other materials that are clearly needed for an exam can be irritating to professors, Flapan says. Along with forgetting your homework, a professor presumes their students will come to class prepared. “The professor expects you to be an adult and take responsibility for whatever you need to bring to class,” Flapan says.

Remember that your professors are people, just like you, and they want to be treated as though you appreciate the work they put into teaching. Make sure you’re being considerate when you talk to them!

11 Reasons No One Cared About Ben's Proposal After Watching JoJo Get Dumped

$

0

We knew going into the season finale of The Bachelor that it could not be anything but heart-wrenching. Ben said “I love you” to both JoJo and Lauren B., but he could only propose to one woman. And when he did we were totally over it. Here’s why:

1. Ben could not make up his mind until the very last minute

We had no idea what Ben was thinking heading into this finale. And neither did he, apparently. Even when Neil Lane asked about his future fiancée, he was speechless. That is, until he saw the engagement rings. Yep, after all this time and suffering, an array of massive Neil Lane diamond rings is what caused Ben to finally choose a woman for the rest of his life. Shocking, right?

2. He let JoJo make that heartfelt speech knowing he was about to dump her

JoJo was so confident in what she and Ben had. She greeted him with a warm and extremely emotional speech about their journey of love. And Ben just nodded along, all while figuring out how he was going to reject her. He easily could’ve stopped JoJo before she started talking; it would’ve saved her a lot of hurt and embarrassment.

3. We kept trying to warn her, but she couldn’t hear us

The moment we realized JoJo was the first to exit a helicopter we started screaming at the television. But then we remembered that’s not how TV works and proceeded to yell at our televisions for another solid 15 minutes.

4. Ben said “but”

Everybody knows you’re not getting that final rose when the “but” comes. When Ben uttered that fateful word in his speech to JoJo, our hearts sank even further. Somehow we hoped it had been just an awful nightmare.

5. He broke her freaking heart into a million pieces

Ben destroyed JoJo. It was unbelievably difficult to watch, and we were all questioning our allegiance to Team Ben as it was happening.

6. And he couldn’t even make eye contact while he was doing it

Ben never really looked JoJo in the eye when he was saying goodbye. We expected him to be a man about it and own up to his part in this mess. Alas…

7. He blindsided her after he promised he wouldn’t

Ben promised he would never blindside JoJo. Come to think of it, he said that to every woman he blindsided this season, but it should’ve been different with her. Especially since the two exchanged ILYs. We thought she meant more to him than that pitiful sendoff portrayed.

8. Ben kept on saying how much he loved her despite the fact that he was about to propose to Lauren B.

Although Ben knew he was about to propose to the woman he supposedly wants to spend the rest of his life with, he still kept telling JoJo how much he loved her. How is that fair? Earth to Ben—it’s not!

9. But then he told her he loved Lauren B. more

Never. Don’t even. And how is that even a justification? That’s the only reason he could come up with for choosing Lauren B.? We still don’t get it, Ben.

10. After a quick commercial break, he was over it and ready to pop the question

Just like that, Ben called Lauren B.’s dad, asked for his permission to propose and got to it. Yes, Ben probably had longer than a three-minute commercial break to process what happened with JoJo, but things took way too sharp a turn for viewers.

11. Their proposal was super cute but kind of hard to be happy about after watching JoJo get devastated on national television

We just weren’t into it at that point, obviously. How could we be? We’re sure they’re an amazing couple, and we wish them nothing but the best. But come on, we were shattered. Can you blame us?

Were you still into Ben's proposal after watching JoJo get her heart broken?
