Ellen Pompeo Says Her Salary Has Nothing To Do With Her 'Grey's Anatomy' Co-Stars Leaving The Show

0
0

Ellen Pompeo sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday, where she opened up about her career struggles and highlighted the importance of women receiving equal treatment and equal pay.

Even as one of the most famous, talented, and iconic women on television today, Pompeo has been the target of backlash over her $20 million a year salary, with many wondering if it was the reason for the departure of her two co-stars, Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew. Pompeo quickly denied these rumors: “It’s absolutely not true. I mean, I’m not involved in these kind of decisions. However, there are a few problems that you encounter doing a show for 14 seasons. One of them is I’m not involved in these kind of decisions, writers have a really hard time creatively, thinking up new stories for all these characters. It’s always sad when we lose people, for whatever reason.”

She also took time to address the fact that one woman’s success is not another woman’s failure. “I think it’s really important to encourage each other—and encourage other women—to stand up and be strong and know that we will be okay and we have each other’s backs... rather than trying to pit women against each other,” she said.

This is just another example of the misogyny rampant in Hollywood, as Pompeo points out how no man would be questioned for receiving a high salary, and no one would ever think that it was at the expense of another his co-stars.

Pompeo believes that she’s earned her salary, and she’s right. Grey’s Anatomy would be nothing without the 48-year-old actress and her beloved portrayal of Meredith Grey over the course of the past 13 years, but it also wouldn’t get very far without its other talented female cast members either.

Einstein Bros. Bagels Created Cheese & Bacon Shampoo & Conditioner Sets, So I Guess This Is Brunch Goals?

There are few things that are better than the smell of breakfast cooking in the morning, especially after a long Saturday night, amiright? Well, it turns out there's another way to have the smell of eggs and bacon in the morning, even if you’re the world’s worst cook. Einstein Bros. Bagels has move away from the carbs and into the world of beauty with the release of their shampoo and conditioner set – with a twist.

It's not a new concept for hair products to smell edible. Who doesn’t love a shampoo that smells like coconuts, or a conditioner that smells like fresh fruit? However, a shampoo that smells like cheese and a conditioner that smells like bacon? That definitely not something you see/smell every day.

With the tagline “look incredible, smell incredible” this shampoo and conditioner combo retails for $9.99 on EinsteinBros.com. However, it seems like plenty of people want to smell like a diner all day long, since this duo is currently sold out! But don’t worry, the sandwich that it was inspired by, the new Cheesy Wakin’ Bacon sandwich, is still available in stores

Hungry yet? In case the smell of bacon isn’t enough to sell you, listen to the “experts.”

My only fear of this product? I wouldn’t be able to get the thought of cheese out of my head!

CoEdition Is A New Plus-Size Shopping Destination & This Is Exactly What 2018 Needed

0
0

It's 2018, and unfortunately many women still feel as though they’re fighting a monumental battle just to find their size in mainstream retailers. We’ve screamed it from the rooftops - the average American woman is a size 16! Yet this size is never visible and celebrated, but rather ignored by some of the biggest names and brands in fashion. Women over a size 10 have expressed how difficult and disheartening it can be to search for clothing that fits them, with little to no luck. However, Brooke Cundiff and Keith George of Gilt have a solution. Instead of traveling from store to store (or site to site) in search of something that will fit, these geniuses have created CoEdition, a new shopping destination for women sized 10-26.

What does this mean? It will essentially be a database that exclusively shows clothes in this range of sizing, eliminating the dreaded process of sifting through sometimes hundreds of “straight sizes” before finding something that fits. The co-founders aren’t doing this on a small scale either. Launching on March 20, the e-commerce site features well-known brands like Stuart Weitzman, Tahari and Rachel Roy. In the next two-to-three months, they expect to have over 5,000 pieces on the site (say sorry to your credit card in advance) and carry over 150+ fashion brands by the end of the year.

If that wasn’t enough, they also teased fans by saying that a Splendid collaboration was already in the works. We can't wait.

According to Refinery29, this isn’t Cundiff's (Chief Merchandising Officer) and George's (CEO) first spin in the fashion industry. Aside from both working at Gilt, they both have spent time working in consumer experience, and it shows in the model that they have for their business. The site aims to not only sell clothes, but to help shoppers find the clothes and fit that are *perfect* for them. The duo hopes to help mitigate the fear that clothes might not fit by focusing on user-created content and reviews – specifically where the reviews will be more in-depth than simply “it's super cute,” but will rather comment on the fit of the waist, butt and arms, in addition to image submissions.

With a vision, plenty of well-known retailers on board, and a plan that has the consumer’s satisfaction and comfort in mind, CoEdition might just change the fashion industry for the better!

Ryan Reynolds Hilariously Throws Shade At 'Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants' In New 'Deadpool 2' Trailer

Couples who can comfortably make fun of each other, stay together. That’s why I have absolute faith in Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

In the new trailer for Reynolds’s upcoming flick Deadpool 2, which continues with the same ridiculous dirty meta-humor that made the first movie (and ad campaign) super successful, has some amazing and unexpected comedic moments, including a reference to Lively’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie franchise.

"Doing the right thing is messy, but if you want to fight for what's right, sometimes you have to fight dirty," Deadpool tells his new X-Force team of vigilantes. "That's why Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is pure pornography."

I’m deceased.

Reynolds and Lively may throw jabs at each other, but there’s definitely a lot of love there. The two met during the filming of his first superhero movie, 2011’s Green Lantern, got married in 2012, and now have two kids. “I'm not one for vomiting declarations of sentiment out across the airwaves, but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I'd ever been in my entire life.,” Reynolds said on The Late Show with David Letterman. “I couldn't even believe it."

I love the Lively-Reynoldses with all my heart and Deadpool with all my heart. I cannot wait to see Deadpool 2!

Chrissy Teigen Gave The Best Response To Why She Didn't Take John Legend's Last Name

0
0

Chrissy Teigen is the queen of jokes, clap-backs and relatable comments, and in response to one tweet about women taking their husband's last names, she delivered once again.

I don't know how Chrissy finds these tweets, but I'm guessing it involves a lot of random Twitter scouring. This one actually went viral, but that was back in 2017, so she must've gone on a pretty deep Twitter dive. The Twitter user said "I'd really like to hear the reasoning behind women who don't take their husband's last name."

Somehow Chrissy stumbled upon it today, and rather than give a long feminist rant, she responded with one simple quip: "My husband didn't even take his last name?"

She's referring to the fact that John Legend is a stage name, and her husband's real name is actually John Stephens—not as cool, eh? Without overanalyzing this little exchange, Chrissy's tweet slyly gets at how picking a last name can be so arbitrary, so why should women have to choose their husband's? Further more, why does this Twitter user even care? Back in 2017, the tweet illicit plenty of answers.

In true Chrissy fashion, she followed up with a valid explanation and pretty much asked the same question I did: why should someone gaf about someone else's choice?

As always, Chrissy is funny af and articulate af. *Snaps*

Chad Michael Murray Went To Visit Tree Hill & I'm Crying

Apparently we aren’t the only ones who miss One Tree Hill.

Yesterday, Chad Michael Murray posted two pictures on Instagram from his visit to some Tree Hill locations nine years after his 2009 exit from the show—and he’s just as emotional about it as you are.

Murray recreated his part from OTH’s intro on the bridge—complete with the hood down, in true Lucas Scott fashion—and posed in front of his character’s house in Wilmington, North Carolina. (What do you mean Tree Hill isn’t a real town?) It’s so good to see that these places mean as much to him as they do to the fans.

He even told fans not to graffiti the house, which is owned by a real family.

A little while back, Murray shared another Instagram photo with former co-stars James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti, and the love is still there.

One Tree Hill ended in 2012 but still has a massive fanbase. Last year, creator Mark Schwahn told IANS, that he was open to the possibility of reviving OTH as a movie, if the original cast would be up for it. "If the cast is willing to, I will absolutely do it,” Schwahn said. “I love that cast and the characters. I don't know if we will all be at the same place and same time, but I wouldn't be the one saying no." Though we're not too sure that will happen, at least not under Schwahn's direction, who was accused of sexual harassment by several cast members (#boybye!), including Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton.

We may not get a One Tree Hill movie or reboot, but at least there's Hulu, which is streaming all seasons right now.

Trump's Lead Lawyer Resigned, Reportedly Because POTUS Wasn't Listening To Him

John Dowd, Donald Trump’s lead lawyer during the special council investigation, resigned from his position with the president, The New York Times reports. Dowd left the position because he reportedly "concluded" that Trump was not taking his advice seriously.

According to The Washington Post's report on the resignation, it was mostly a "mutual decision" due to the president doubting Dowd's handling of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and Dowd's own frustrations about Trump trying to hire additional lawyers.

This also comes after, on March 11, Trump tweeted that he was all-caps "VERY happy" with his legal team.

The Times called Dowd's leaving “the most significant shake-up for the president’s legal team in months” as Mueller's investigation continues. Tension continues to build between Trump and Mueller because of the investigation.

Dowd was reportedly against Trump’s idea to sit for an interview with Mueller’s office, according to CNBC, with was that catalyst for the resignation. Another lawyer on the team, Jay Sekulow, released a statement on the issue, "We will continue our ongoing representation of the President and our cooperation with the Office of Special Counsel.”

Sources close to Trump’s legal team revealed that Dowd may be replaced by Marc Kasowitz, who was the lead lawyer in the investigation before Dowd, CNBC said.

6 Surprising Things You Need to Know About Cellulite

0
0

There’s nothing more exciting than walking through your favorite store and finding a super cute piece of clothing that’ll show off your legs for when the weather gets warmer. However, you quickly find the dressing room and put on the shorts, dress or skirt, only to realize it’s not what you’d imagined. Instead of focusing on how well it fits, you only see dimpled thighs and force yourself to forget about the adorable bathing suit on the rack just outside.

Cellulite has long been and still is one of a woman’s worst enemies when it comes to body image, despite progress on social media and in clothing campaigns. Many women still have misconceptions about the prevalence and treatment of cellulite. The next time you think about putting something back on the clothing rack, remember these five facts about a skin issue that shouldn’t be an issue at all.

1. You’re not the only one who has it

Whether you’ve realized it or not, cellulite rarely makes an appearance in the public spotlight. Magazines have long used editing software to smooth out blemishes, wrinkles, stretch marks and cellulite on their models and celebrities. Even though Ashley Graham embraced her “cellulite city” thighs and Lena Dunham thanked Glamour for not touching up her cellulite, many women still associate cellulite with weight gain. It’s important to know that healthy women of all shapes and sizes can be affected by its presence.

Dr. Kenneth Mark, a skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology expert in New York, simply states that “anyone can have it.” Roughly 80 to 90 percent of women deal with cellulite in some shape or form. Whether it’s on your thighs, buttocks, stomach or arms, the very nature of women’s skin makes it very likely to show up, especially as your skin loses its elasticity in the years coming. About 10 percent of men also have cellulite, so it’s also not a female-only problem.

2. You can’t get rid of it completely

When you go to the doctor with a range of flu-like symptoms and find out you just have a bad cold, it’s both irritating and disheartening to hear you can’t have antibiotics. You can try every cold symptom medicine that claims to alleviate a runny nose, cough, headache and fever all at once, but chances are, you’re not going to feel much better. The same goes for cellulite: there’s no panacea that will magically make every dimple and divot disappear.

Katie Weykamp, a senior at Ohio University studying food and nutrition sciences and Instagram fitness guru, says, “To women who do struggle with it, I think they need education about what cellulite actually is on an anatomical level. Once I learned this two years ago, something clicked in my head which made the thought of cellulite less bothersome... it’s as anatomically normal for a woman to have cellulite as it is to have breasts.”

To get more technical, the fat layer we can blame for cellulite has bands of connective tissue that run perpendicular from top to bottom in women and are crisscrossed in men. Between these fibers are the fat cells. According to Katie, the key fact to remember is the perpendicular connective tissue doesn’t give the fat cells enough room for movement when pressure is applied (unlike in crisscrossed tissue), causing visible dimples on the skin's surface.

Now that you know the science behind cellulite, you can worry less about why you have it and focus more embracing it or finding a way to better handle it.

3. A clean diet and regular exercise are key

You probably wouldn’t be able to count the number of times you’ve heard that a healthy diet and consistent exercise is important. Besides reducing the chance of chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease, living a healthy lifestyle just makes you feel and look better. If you’re like many college women and struggle with finding the time to head to the gym or resisting the urge to snack at night, you may have just accepted your cellulite (hopefully out of body positivity and not body shame). And while Dr. Mark says that proper diet and exercise “can’t get rid of cellulite completely,” going the extra mile to try Blogilates in your room or trade in cookies for fruit at midnight can pay off.

“The only way to target cellulite in a problem area is to reduce the size of the fat cells. If you’re new to working out, aim for 30-minute workouts two to three times a week and progress in frequency/duration as you see fit,” Katie says. “Try incorporating various styles of workouts to see what you love and will stick to in the long run—there are so many workout classes like HIIT, spinning, Zumba and kickboxing. If you’re new to weightlifting, I recommend checking out bodybuilding.com exercise database and read up on proper form and to get ideas!”

She adds, “In terms of diet, try cutting out processed foods and added sugars. Drink more water throughout the day and make sure each meal is well balanced! When putting together a main meal, aim to include at least three to four of the five main food groups and that the foods are wholesome and minimally processed.”

You don’t need to be a professional bodybuilder or stick to an impossible diet to lessen the severity of your cellulite. Do what you feel is appropriate and push yourself a little more each day to make healthy choices.

Related: 5 Common Skin Problems & How to Treat Them

4. Topical creams can provide temporary relief at best

When it comes to most skin problems, topical creams and ointments are usually the first lines of defense. Many are cheap and can be found over-the-counter at any drugstore. For more expensive prescription creams, you can visit your dermatologist for recommendations. While obtaining these creams isn’t difficult, making them work long-term can prove to be a tough feat. Dr. Mark recommends “prescription strength retinoids or over-the-counter alpha hydroxy acids like AmLactin,” but you must remember that these lotions can only camouflage dimples and bumps temporarily.

Nicole*, a junior at Stanford University, cringes at the amount of money she spent on cellulite creams back in high school. “I hated the way my thighs looked like cottage cheese, all dimply and covered in moon-like crevices. I used every last dollar on fancy scrubs and lotions that people claimed to be miracle products,” she says. “It wasn’t until I was broke and discouraged that the only way to change the appearance of my cellulite was to embrace it and work on gaining muscle.”

Sometimes the most convenient solution to a problem isn’t a solution at all, but another challenge in your path to finding the best solution. Keep in mind that topical creams won’t change the physical cellulite: they'll only change its appearance for a little while.

5. The majority of effective treatments are expensive

Even though cellulite can’t be cured, there are a plethora of surgical and noninvasive procedures that visibly reduce the look of it. From skin fillers to lasers, the treatments shown to most effectively get rid of cellulite come with a hefty price tag because they’re done by knowledgeable skincare professionals and experts. Dr. Mark describes one of the more invasive treatments as “[introducing] a needle to break up the fibrous anchoring bands and allowing the patient to form their own collagen,” which is “similar to ‘subcision’ for atrophic scars.” Another FDA-approved treatment called Cellulaze has been shown to reduce cellulite by 70 to 80 percent within a year, but the investment ranges from $5,000 to $7,000.

Angela*, a senior at Penn State University, has been saving up the last three years for this laser treatment. “Most people don’t know I’ve been saving up for Cellulaze because I feel like I’d be judged for spending so much on a cellulite treatment,” she says. “My aunt got it done right before I graduated high school, and she looks absolutely fantastic four years later. I’ve tried everything and currently do work out five days a week, but nothing has worked.”

If you feel that a more permanent surgery done by a professional you trust is the best route, there’s no harm in researching the options. Just know that you might end up draining your bank account without monetary preparation.

6. Your partner doesn’t care about your cellulite

It’s not unusual for our self-confidence to take a dip when we see photos of women with perfect bodies and flawless skin, even though we know Photoshop is most likely the culprit. Sometimes we look at our own bodies and wonder how in the world someone could find us physically beautiful. We don’t often realize that the people who love us most don’t see what we perceive to be flaws. Derek*, a junior at the University of Michigan, constantly assures his girlfriend that her cellulite isn’t unattractive.

“The first time my girlfriend and I got intimate, she was really self-conscious about the cellulite on her thighs. I didn’t even know the name for it,” he says. “I told her no matter what her body looked like, I’d find her attractive simply because of her personality. I think women in general are too hard on themselves for the way they look, and if a guy makes a big deal out of something like cellulite, he’s a complete a**hole.”

Every time you look in the mirror and see yourself as unattractive, know that’s not how other people see you.

Cellulite is a struggle most women have faced or currently deal with, and as Katie puts it, they “develop an identity around it for themselves that’s not actually true.” It’s high time we educate ourselves about the reality of cellulite and embrace the journey that comes with taking care of not just our skin, but our whole bodies, one day at a time.

The Parkland Student's 'Time' Cover Highlights Emerging Leaders In a Movement & Reminds Us That They're Still Kids

0

Since the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in February that left 17 people dead, students from the school have stood up to lead a movement against gun violence. This week, five of the student activists were featured on the cover of Time Magazine, and the image shows their strength while still recognizing (and powerfully emphasizing) their youth.

This comes in between school walk outs protesting gun violence and the March for Our Lives in Washington, according to The Hill.

Racked noted that the students featured on the cover include some of the most prominent figures of the movement; Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg, Cameron Kasky, Alex Wind and Jaclyn Corin have become synonymous with the youth movement against gun violence ever since the incident at MSD.

The picture of the students is captioned with bold, white lettering spelling out “ENOUGH.” This connects to the one of the main ideas behind the student protests against the country: Young people have seen enough gun violence in school and they want it to end.

One small detail that hasn’t gone unnoticed is the lack of shoes on Corin’s feet, Racked pointed out. While there was lots of speculation behind the motive for the bare feet, the author of the cover story, Charlotte Alter, said that the decision to go barefoot was not that deep. Alter took to Twitter to explain that Corin went bare foot because “they’re kids and we just had them wear whatever they wanted.”

So, even though these students are making the cover of Time Magazine, they’re still teenagers. Which leaves adults with a reminder that they need to be the ones to step up.

HC Wake-Up Call: Boko Haram Returns Dozens Of Kidnapped Girls, Jared Kushner's Company Under Investigation, & A Deadly Afghanistan Bomb

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Boko Haram Returned Dozens of Kidnapped Nigeria Schoolgirls

A number of schoolgirls in the Nigerian community of Dapchi were kidnapped more than a month ago by Boko Haram militants. On Wednesday, they were returned by the same group that took them.

The New York Times reports that at least one girl is still being held, and some parents are suspicious that others have died. Those that did return were warned by the militants to "never go back to school again."

A New York Agency Is Investigating Jared Kushner's Properties

More than a dozen Kushner Cos. properties are now being investigated by New York City's buildings regulator after a report from The Associated Press that the business regularly filed false paperwork.

"The AP reported Sunday that Kushner Cos. stated in more than 80 permit applications that it had zero rent-regulated tenants in its buildings when it, in fact, had hundreds," the Washington Postreports. According to the Housing Rights Initiative, this allowed Kushner Cos. to pressure these tenants — often low-paying — into leaving, so higher-paying tenants could move in.

Kushner Cos. responded to the investigation by saying that its the victim of "politically motivated attacks." The alleged false fillings occurred when Kushner himself was still running the company.

More Than 30 Are Dead In Afghanistan Bombing

At least 65 people were wounded and 31 killed in a suspected suicide bombing on Wednesday in Kabul, Afghanistan's capital.

According to the BBC, "Initial reports suggest the bomber attacked a crowd of hundreds of people who had gathered to celebrate the start of Nowruz, the New Year festival." Multiple witnesses said young people were simply dancing, singing and celebrating before the bombing occurred.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, though it's still being investigated.

What to look out for...

An excuse to do nothing. If you're in the Northeast, you may have the day off from work or school, or at least a delay. The fourth nor'easter in three weeks continues to dump snow around Washington, Philadelphia and New York. You might have a different excuse though — today marks National Goof-off Day

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Have Officially Sent Out Their Wedding Invitations & They're Beautiful

Invitations for the wedding of the year have officially been sent out, according to Yahoo! News. Kensington Palace confirmed via Twitter that the invitations, which have been sent out to 600 guests, were sent out.

Along with their post, Kensington Palace included a photo of the invitations for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, which is to take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor on May 19, and the invitations are absolutely fit for a royal wedding.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, Kensington Palace wrote, “Using American ink on English card, the invitations are printed in gold and black, then burnished to bring out the shine, and gilded around the edge.”

They are absolutely stunning, and how perfect to include both English and American elements to celebrate Harry and Meghan’s union!

Kensington Palace also wrote that the invitations also feature the “Three-Feathered Badge of the Prince of Wales printed in gold ink.” The invitations were made by Barnard and Westwood, which, according to Yahoo! News, has the “Royal Warrant for Printing & Bookbinding by Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen” since 1985, along with another royal warrant with the Prince of Wales.

The invitations were completed by Lottie Small, who, Kensington Palace wrote, recently completed her apprenticeship with Barnard and Westwood. Small printed the royal invitations in a process known as die stamping on a machine made in the 1930s, Yahoo! News reports.

Austen Kopley, managing director at Barnard and Westwood, said of the making of the invitations, “We are incredibly honoured to continue our longstanding work for The Royal Family, and to be involved in such an important moment for the couple and their family and friends.”

“The wedding of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle will be a truly special occasion and we are thrilled to be able to create equally special invitations for their guests,” Kopley added.

According to PEOPLE, the 600 guests that received invitations will also be joining the newly weds for a luncheon hosted by the Queen at St. George’s Hall at Windsor Castle.

Later that evening, around 200 guests are invited to join the couple for a private reception hosted by Prince Harry’s father at Frogmore House, which is where the couple took their engagement photos, PEOPLE reports.

In the meantime, I'll be patiently waiting to receive my invitation.

Raven Gates Admitted to Sneaking Off Set During 'The Bachelor' For the Best Reason Ever

Raven Gates, who was on “The Bachelor” Season 21, admitted Thursday on Instagram that she and Bachelor co-castmate Jasmine Goode snuck off set for a very hilarious, and honestly the best, reason. Since Gates and Goode were in New Orleans for the show, they snuck to none other than the famous Café Du Monde.

According to Bustle, Gates began her confession on Instagram, writing, “I have a confession to make about something that happened on my season of ‘The Bachelor.’” Gates then shared her story of their adventurous night in a series of posts.

It turns out that while on the show, the contestants are not allowed to have their phones with them, Bustle reports. So, the adventure began when Gates and Goode, well, let’s just say borrowed, a producer’s phone to get themselves an Uber to go get some powdered sugar covered pillows of heaven.

Gates never details how she and Goode got a hold of the producer’s phone, but they got to Café Du Monde, Bustle reports. After getting a bag full of delicious beignets, the two headed back, singing out the window to passersby the entire way.

And just to make it clear, it is a major no-no to leave the “Bachelor” mansion or hotel. According to Bustle, you are not allowed to leave without permission from the show, and if another one of the contestants is out on a date with the Bachelor, the other contestants must stay at the mansion (or hotel).

So basically Gates and Goode broke two rules: leaving the premises and using a phone.

When the two ladies got back, they did end up getting in trouble. But, when Gates and Goode presented the producers and fellow castmates with some of those delicious beignets, they accepted the peace offering, Bustle reports.

According to Bustle, the two women were still allowed on the show and were also invited to “Bachelor in Paradise” Season 4.

We’re glad that the women ultimately didn’t get into too much trouble, because who can blame them for wanting to go out for some mouth-watering beignets? Because, honestly, we would have done the same.

Britney Spears is *FINALLY* The Face of a Major Fashion Brand

If you close your eyes and imagine 2000s fashion, its likely there's one icon that comes to mind: Britney Spears. However, throughout the years of her all-denim ensembles, sheer and diamond bodysuits, and the sexy school-girl look that changed Halloween costumes forever; Britney has (surprisingly!) never been the face of a major fashion brand…until now.

On Monday, the fashion brand Kenzo teased fans on Instagram with a video showcasing a “mystery star,” however, it didn’t take a super sleuth (or the head of Britney’s fan club) to figure out who it was.

In the comments, fans tagged the pop icon, exclaiming that they “couldn’t wait” for the collection. While it seemed like “Britney” was synonymous with “QUEEN” in the comments, I have to admit that it wasn’t particularly difficult to spot who the “star” was, with her signature blonde hair and the classic Britney smouldering smokey eye.

Britney took to Instagram herself to confirm fans' suspicions, with this photo that looks like a total #throwback.

Dressed in a trucker hat; a cropped, comfy-looking sweatshirt; a small, vintage backpack and a back tattoo that you couldn’t help but notice, its surprising that the photo didn’t have #TBT attached. Since all old trends seem to come back in style eventually (*coughs* scrunchies), it seems like this might mark fashion’s move away from the chokers and grungy style that was reminiscent of the ‘90s, and are back to the glorious 2000s.

Britney is the face of the brand’s newest campaign, Memento N°2, which, from the released photos, looks like it may have taken more from the era than just its biggest stars. Cosmopolitan was quick to draw a connection between a photo of Spears wearing head-to-toe denim with the iconic denim dress that she sported at the 2001 American Music Awards with Justin Timberlake.

Check out the rest of the released photos.

Who else can’t wait for this stunning collection and to see more of Britney’s start in the fashion world?!

Along with revitalizing your luscious locks with vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D and E, sea kelp extract can also help your skin look and feel healthier. As Harvard Health Publications notes, vitamin E is basically a vitamin moonlighting as an antioxidant because it helps prevent skin damage—so it can heal some acne scars and hyperpigmentation. Writing a cover letter is one of the most time-consuming parts of applying for jobs and internships. It’s your chance to make a good first impression, and once you send it, you can’t take it back. That’s why making sure it’s perfect is worth it. Weighing in are Lauren Berger, author of All Work No Pay: Finding An Internship, Building Your Resume, Making Connections, and Gaining Job ExperienceKatherine Hansen, Ph.D, author of Dynamic Cover Letters and social media strategy consultant Neal Schaffer. Keep these things in mind before clicking send.

1. Proofread

Little mistakes, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and other typos are big no-no’s, especially in cover letters. This should go without saying, but you need to triple check your writing. Mistakes like those can be easily avoided by having a friend read over your cover letter before sending it out or using an additional online spell checker. If you have made this type of mistake before, you're not the only one. Hansen, who now writes about cover letters and careers, says, “When I was moving to Tennessee [I] sent a mass mailing of cover letters to local employers—with Tennessee misspelled." Other mistakes like addressing the wrong company or writing a cover letter that is more than a page long can become easily fixed for applicants who take the time to read over their writing.

2. Never use a cookie cutter style

If there is one thing you take away from this article, it’s to not copy and paste the same cover letter for multiple jobs and internship applications. People who read your cover letters can tell when you copy, cut and paste. Hansen says one of the most common mistakes she sees from young people in their cover letters is a failure to tailor the letter to the job specifically. “Cover letters are not one-size-fits-all,” she says. “Job-seekers must use them to describe how they qualify for a specific job and what they will bring to the employer.” She will also toss any letter that begins with “To Whom It May Concern.” Instead, search for who your immediate supervisor would be for the position and address your letter to him or her. Some position postings will even list their name for you!

3. It's not only about you

If a cover letter is you asking an employer out on a first date, you want to dazzle them, but you also don’t want to turn into Narcissus. Hansen says to make your letter about what you can do for the employer. She notes that not doing this is a red flag that the applicant is probably an inexperienced job-seeker. Just like asking someone out, you need to find common ground that’s relevant and speaks to what the company needs and what you can offer.

4. But you do have to sell yourself

Now that you deleted “To Whom It May Concern” and wrote about what you can offer the company, don’t forget to give a few details about yourself. Lauren Berger recently read a cover letter that was one of the worst she has read to date. “Just yesterday I read a letter that was three paragraphs, included bullet points (strange for a cover letter), and told me nothing about the candidate,” she says. “I read the cover letter and still had no idea where she went to school, why she wanted to work at the company, or where she was planning to be for the summer." Including details and specifics shows that you put time and effort into your letter.

5. Think about your personal brand

When giving details about yourself in your cover letter make sure what you’re saying is consistent with your brand. Social media strategy consultant Neal Schaffer gave the example of comparing Tylenol to a generic store brand of aspirin. “Generic aspirin has similar ingredients to Tylenol but people go for the name brand,” he says. “That’s how you want to become and the more that you can brand yourself and differentiate yourself in your letter in one or two sentences is going work to your benefit.” An employer is choosing between you and another candidate. You want to be the Tylenol, not the aspirin. Personal branding consists of representing and pursuing the same ideas, values and passions as seen on your social media and resume. Keep that in mind when typing up your letter.

Writing a cover letter takes time, thought and patience. Don’t let mistakes like typos and poor grammar get in the way of you and your dream position. You have to believe you’re the right person for the job before trying to convince someone else through your letter. This means personalizing your letter, writing equally about yourself and the company while sticking to your personal brand. If you can balance these approaches, you’ll have the recipe for an excellent cover letter.

Good morning, Her Campus!

Gen. H.R. McMaster Has Resigned as Trump's National Security Adviser & UN Ambassador John Bolton Will Replace Him

The White House confirmed on Thursday that President Trump and Gen. H.R. McMaster mutually agreed that McMaster would step down from his position as National Security Adviser, ABC News reports.

According to ABC News, McMaster will be replaced by UN Ambassador John Bolton, and will be the third person to occupy the position since the start of the Trump administration.

McMaster’s departure from the White House was planned and expected. According to ABC News, while McMaster was seen as an asset to the national security team, Trump and McMaster often clashed.

Only three months into the job, The New York Times reported that Trump called McMaster “a pain” and complained that McMaster talked too much, ABC News reports.

McMaster differed in opinion from Trump on several topics, such as: the Iran Nuclear Deal, using the label “radical Islamic terrorism” and free trade deals with our allies.

In a statement, McMaster wrote, “After thirty-four years of service to our nation, I am requesting retirement from the U.S. Army effective this summer after which I will leave public service. Throughout my career it has been my greatest privilege to serve alongside extraordinary servicemembers and dedicated civilians. I am thankful to President Donald J. Trump for the opportunity to serve him and our nation as national security advisor.”

Trump thanked McMaster and his family “for their service,” and wished them “the very best.”

The three-star general’s departure comes amidst the departure of other Trump administration officials, including Hope Hicks and Rex Tillerson, ABC News reports.

Bolton, who will take McMaster’s place, has largely been seen as a highly vocal war hawk, and that has been concerning to some politicians.

France is Proposing On-the-Spot Fines for Public Sexual Harassment

To combat sexual harassment, France is proposing on-the-spot fines for individuals that sexually harass another person in public, HelloGiggles reports.

The bill, which is to be presented in a cabinet meeting and sent to parliament after that, is currently being supported by French President Emmanuel Macron and French Junior Minister for Gender Equality, Marlène Schiappa.

According to HelloGiggles, the bill proposes immediate fees of $110 to $920 for sexual harassment, ranging anywhere from “degrading or humiliating comments” or making “sexual or sexist” actions towards another person.

“The idea is that it is high enough to be a deterrent but also that we could be sure the harasser can pay it immediately, so that the law can be efficient,” Schiappa said of the fees.

The bill, according to HelloGiggles, would also raise the age of consent to 15, and would increase the statute of limitations to the age of 48 for individuals that were raped as children.

Charles Lazarus, Founder of Toys ‘R’ Us, Dies After Company Announces It Will Shut Down U.S. Operations

Toys “R” Us Founder, Charles Lazarus, died Thursday, the company confirmed, just one week after the company announced that it would most likely have to shut down its U.S. operations, CNN Money reports.

Lazarus started his business in 1948, anticipating the post-WWII baby boom and the demand it would create for children’s supplies and toys, CNN Money reports. He started selling baby furniture in his store, Children’s Bargain Town, and expanded to selling toys.

In 1957, Lazarus his first store stocked with toys, and named it Toys “R” Us. Its giraffe mascot, which appeared in advertisements for Children’s Bargain Town, became the center of Toys “R” Us’ marketing, CNN Money reports.

Michael Goldstein, who succeeded Lazarus as CEO in 1994, said in a statement, “He was the father of the toy business. He knew the toys and loved the toys and loved the kids who would shop in the stores. His face lit up when he watched kids playing with toys.”

“There have been many sad moments for Toys “R” Us in recent weeks, and none more heartbreaking than today's news about the passing of our beloved founder," Toys “R” Us said in a statement. “He visited us in New Jersey just last year, and we will forever be grateful for his positive energy, passion for the customer and love for children everywhere. Our thoughts and prayers are with Charles' family and loved ones.”

The company had recently been having difficulties as it went up against big box stores, such as Walmart and Target, and had debt that it couldn’t not recover from.

What to look out for…

Frozen is now on Broadway, and its composers, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, have written a bunch of new songs for the show!

Some People Are Not Happy With Kylie Jenner Wearing A Waist Trainer

People have been gushing over new mom Kylie Jenner's beautiful baby girl Stormi, but it didn't take long for Kylie to find herself under criticism again. This time, fans had *thoughts* on her decision to wear a waste trainer so soon after giving birth.

In a sponsored post on Instagram, Kylie showed herself in a Waist Gang waist trainer. She referred to it as a "snap back product," which I guess means a quick fix to get her back to her pre-baby body.

While there were the standard fan comments, some criticized the decision. One commented "This is so unhealthy!!" Others tweeted angrily about the young Jenner's post.

Us Weeklytalked to an OBGYN to clarify the health risks of the decision. Dr. Cynthia Robbins said this was not a healthy way to slim down postpartum. “After the delivery of a baby, the body has had ligaments and cartilage softened by a hormone named Relaxin. This hormone has been produced at the end of pregnancy to allow for structure shifting as the baby moves through the birth canal,” she told Us Weekly. “I advise patients to wear a support wrap or belly wrap postpartum to stabilize the patient’s pelvis so that it is held in place and no longer shifts. This allows for early resumption of exercise and for earlier return to normal function and pre-pregnancy shape. This is a healthy way to quicken recovery.”

Besides that, she pointed out that for anyone, waist trainers are generally not a great idea. She said it "puts harmful compression to the abdomen" and "has a temporary result that is no different than anything too tight around skin.” Other health professionals have also said that waist trainers are not the healthiest or most sustainable way to change one's figure.

Since this was an ad, for all we know Kylie isn't actually wearing the waist trainer. She might've just posted the pic to get her paycheck, and then took it off. Also, she's a grown woman who can make her own decisions. Still, she has a large following, so she does have to consider whether promoting this product is actually a good idea.

Lena Waithe Shares Her Thoughts On Those Aziz Ansari Sexual Misconduct Claims

As the conversation around sexual misconduct in Hollywood continues, more and more celebrities are being asked to comment on the Time’s Up movement and the allegations of sexual misconduct made against everyone from Ryan Seacrest to James Franco.

One such celebrity was actress, writer, and producer Lena Waithe, who was asked about the allegations against Aziz Ansari that were published in a Babe.net article this past January. Waithe and Ansari co-star on Ansari’s Netflix series Master of None, and co-wrote the “Thanksgiving” episode that went on to win the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series — an award that Waithe was the first black woman to receive. Waithe and Ansari are clearly good friends and colleagues, so she could have defended Ansari’s actions or victim-blamed like many others have been doing. Thankfully, she didn’t.

In an interview for her cover on Vanity Fair, Waithe said, “At the end of the day, what I would hope comes out of this is that we as a society … educate ourselves about what consent is—what it looks like, what it feels like, what it sounds like.” She added, “We need to be more attuned to each other, pay more attention to each other, in every scenario, and really make sure that, whatever it is we’re doing with someone else, they’re comfortable doing whatever that thing is, and that we’re doing it together. That’s just human kindness and decency.”

Well said.

In case you need a refresher, the initial article about Ansari detailed a date he went on with a photographer in her early 20's named Grace, in which he allegedly ignored repeated verbal and nonverbal cues to stop his sexual advancements toward her. Grace ultimately left the apartment before they could get any further, and texted Ansari about her unease with what happened.

After the article was published, Ansari made his own sort-of apology and expressed his support for the Time’s Up movement. But what’s really telling was the response to the Babe.net article: many defended Ansari’s actions, and some just called the experience “bad sex” or a bad date, while others pointed out that the commonality of experiences like this is exactly what makes them a necessary topic of conversation and point of change.

The reactions to Ansari’s actions continue to be mixed, but I am glad to see that Waithe, at least, knows what needs to be done.

To celebrate and honor Wonder Woman's birthday this year, Gal Gadot posted a touching tribute to the empowering superhero on Instagram on Thursday.

The acclaimed actress praised her, saying, "You are as beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, swifter than Hermes, and stronger than Hercules—all the Gods are with you, and you are with us all to help make the world a better place."

Her touching birthday message to everyone's beloved superwoman isn't a surprise given the major success of Wonder Woman at the box office, which has skyrocketed Gadot's career, and its symbolic meaning of female empowerment.

Gadot's inspiring dedication to everyone's favorite heroine is ridiculously sweet, and it just makes us want to see Wonder Woman on screen sooner rather than later. Wonder Woman 2 is already in the works, so hopefully it won't be too long until we get to see Gadot on the big screen playing Diana Prince once again.

Christina Aguilera Explains What It Was Like Having Someone She Dated Turn Out To Be Gay

Christina Aguilera appeared on the season premiere of Untucked, the aftershow of RuPaul's Drag Race, and was unflinchingly honest about one of her past romances.

When she sat down with the 10 queens, she started talking about her 2002 song, "Infatuation," from her album Stripped. The song is about the forbidden love and the building obsession over a Latin lover, whom Aguilera actually dated. She didn't say the man's name, but she did reveal that he was actually gay.

Aguilera went on to describe what it was like for her to find out, saying, “It was heartbreaking because I found out he played for your team, not mine.”

"He's gonna be so mad when he sees this," Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, one of the competing queens commented. To which Aguilera responded, “I hope so, girl."

The "Beautiful" singer didn't stop there, discussing another romance that inspired her song "Fighter," stating with a laugh that he "deserved it," when questioned by Monique Heart about its meaning.

Aguilera's appearance on the show was both fun and insightful, as she ended it with some sage advice for the queens, "But I think as long as you keep remembering who you are as a person—and keep remembering the good and the good around you—then nothing can stop you.”
