5 Reasons Why You Don't Need a Sorority to Have Fun in College

The college atmosphere depicted in movies is heavily influenced by Greek life, parties and hook-up culture. The cinematic experience forces you to overlook the stress of classes and instead focus on your cute TA and the upcoming costume party. While Greek life, parties, and hook-up culture are a substantive aspect of college, they aren't the only ways to get involved and have fun on campus. Despite what movies may highlight, there are many activities and opportunities to let loose, without being in a sorority.

1.  You have more time for other extracurriculars

What movies don’t tell you about sorority life is the massive time commitment you must make to be a participating member. Some people thrive in this environment, while others may have a hard time adjusting.

For Hannah Harshe, a student from the University of Michigan, creating her own extracurricular schedule is more important for her. “Sororities are super time-consuming, and you really can't do much else once you're in them because you have chapter and philanthropy and formals,” Hannah says.  “I am in several student orgs that I'm super passionate about, and I'm so glad I get to choose them instead of being told, ‘Here's your philanthropy this semester.’”

Getting involved on campus is extremely rewarding. It’s something you that you can look forward to in college that doesn’t involve academics. Just because you aren’t in a sorority doesn’t mean you can’t get involved in other fun activities on or around campus.

2. You can still attend fraternity parties

If the social scene is something you’re afraid you’ll miss out on if you’re not in a sorority, I have news for you. You can still go out if you're not in a sororityChances are, you will also have friends that are both in and out of Greek life that you can still hang out with. You’ll have a great time regardless of whether you wear Greek letters around campus or not.

Alexa*, a junior from Lehigh University, says, “Sorority recruitment didn’t work out for me as a freshman, but that doesn’t hinder me from going out with my friends at night and having an enjoyable college experience everyone talks about.” Alexa uses the tips in the linked article to still attend fraternity parties as a non-affiliated member. Many college students worry their social life will be nonexistent because fraternity parties seem to dominate the social life on campus, but it’s certainly not impossible with a little extra planning.

3. Most schools have late-night activities

Most schools have alcohol-free-late night activities if frat parties are not necessarily your scene, that allows you and your friends to bond with other people that you may have never met. In the same way that sororities organize sisterhood functions that allow the sisters to bond, your university most likely hosts concerts, game nights, and parties to also make the campus feel more inclusive.

If you’re feeling a little isolated, try looking at the flyers around campus to see if anything piques your interest. Perhaps there’s a local band playing nearby, or a charity that really inspires you. Socializing may not seem like the most productive thing to schedule into your calendar, but you’ll be happy you did it. Everyone deserves time to let loose and be themselves among friends who share the same values or interests.

4. You can still make real connections

At the end of the day, where you make your best friends doesn’t matter. Regardless of whether you made friends from a sorority chapter or in your bio lab, those connections are genuine. Emily Schmidt, a sophomore from Stanford University, doesn’t let her decision about not joining a sorority impact her experience at college. “I have tons of friends in sororities, but I chose not to rush and still have just as much fun,” she says. “I live in a co-ed residence, so there's always something happening, whether it's a Harry Potter marathon in the lounge or a pre-game in one of my friends' rooms. As long as you've got friends nearby, you're bound to make your own memories and have many great laughs.”

Think about it this way: no one was involved in Greek chapters in high school and yet still had sports teams and student government to bring them together. Perhaps someone who lives in your hall really understands your obsession with a current Netflix show, those connections are just as valid.

5. It’s not always easy, but you’ll find your home on campus

Whether or not Greek life is for you is something entirely personal. Although it may seem like the typical and easiest way to get involved on campus, it’s certainly not the only way. There are a multitude of organizations that may make you feel at home.

Mary Hilliard, a sophomore from Notre Dame, understands this concept as well. “Colleges have plenty of groups, clubs, teams and other organizations besides Greek life where you can meet awesome people with similar interests as you,” she says.  “Find something that interests you, and you are sure to find a group geared towards that subject along with new friends.”

If you have more free time, you can actually explore what types of groups and teams make you feel at home at college. As soon as you’re with people that make you feel comfortable, you’re bound to make fun memories.

While you’re navigating through adulthood trying to figure out your major and career aspirations, you’re also trying to find lasting and meaningful friendships. Because that’s what college is all about! Your goals should include learning more about yourself and having fun along the way. Some people may accomplish that through joining a sorority, while others don’t. Hopefully, these reasons give you some insight on why not joining a sorority doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself in college.

Kylie Jenner Revealed The Last Name of Her & Travis Scott's Baby — But It's Not Jenner or Scott

Yesterday, the elusive Kylie Jenner revealed the first name of her newborn daughter on Instagram (Stormi!). Today, she took it one step further by letting us know if the baby would take the makeup mogul's last name or Travis Scott's.

This is where things get a little complicated.

Travis Scott's name isn't actually Travis Scott — it's Jacques Webster.

stormi webster 👼🏽

A post shared by Kylie (@kyliejenner) on

Yes, Kylie and boyfriend Scott went the traditional route and gave her the last name Webster. This follows in the footsteps of her older sisters as their children took the last names of their fathers, whether the two were married like Kim and Kanye, or merely dating like Kourtney and Scott Disick.

The name came with a sweet photo of mom Kylie's hand wrapped in her newborn's hand.

Though it was just posted yesterday, the image introducing little Stormi to the world broke the record for most liked photo of all time on Instagram with 13.6 million likes. According to Cosmothe record was previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo's fourth child's announcement and before that, it went to the Queen Bey's announcement of her twins, Sir and Rumi.

The Kardashian-Jenner clan continues to grow. Stormi comes just two weeks after Chicago West was born via surrogate and just a few months ahead of her future cousin born to sister Khloe and her boyfriend, basketball player Tristan Thompson. It's about to be a busy year of raising babies over in Calabasas!

The real question is: When does Kylie announce the inevitable Stormi or Webster lip kit or full cosmetics line?

Trump Thinks Another Government Shutdown Could Be a Good Idea

The temporary funding agreement reached after the last government shutdown will run out on Thursday if another agreement isn't reached. President Donald Trump’s latest comments about a government shutdown continue the party politics he's been playing since last month's shutdown. His tweets during the shutdown blamed the Democrats and stated the need for more Republicans in office to avoid these actions happening again.

The New York Times reports that Trump would “welcome” another government shutdown if a spending deal that solidifies immigration laws isn’t reached. CNN says that Trump told reporters in a White House meeting, "If we don't change [the country's immigration laws], let's have a shutdown. We'll do a shutdown and it's worth it for our country. I'd love to see a shutdown if we don't get this stuff taken care of."

Trump continued, "If we have to shut it down because the Democrats don't want safety, and unrelated but still related, they don't want to take care of our military, then shut it down. We'll go with another shutdown."

Trump seems to be prematurely pinning the possibility of a shutdown on Democrats, which continues his trend of praising Republicans throughout this process.

So, Mr. President, is another shutdown really a good idea? Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) disagreed with Trump via The Times, saying, “We don’t need a government shutdown on this. Both sides have learned that a government shutdown was bad.”

Also seen among responses to Trump's casual remark was reportedly a "sense of numbness," especially given Trump's rather random and often bizarre other comments. It took another Republican to comment on how Trump's behavior has changed so many politicians' views of his statements.

Sen. Jeff Flake, an Arizona representative who is said to be against Trump, said on the Senate floor, "Have we arrived at such a place of numb acceptance that we have nothing to say when a president of the United States casually suggests that those who choose not to stand or applaud his speech are guilty of treason? I certainly hope not."

Here's hoping that a new funding agreement comes about soon. If not, I'm sure that Trump will comment on the updates in one way or another.

Spice Up Your Life: The Spice Girls Might Reunite & Tour The U.S.

Okay, everyone. Did you feel it? That tectonic shift? The cosmos being thrown out of balance?

Don't worry. The world isn't coming to an end. It was just the planet reacting to the prospect of a Spice Girls reunion!

Girls who grew up in the 90s will remember the lollipops from Limited Too (someone please find a way to bring those back), dreaming of Union Jack dresses, and forcing their moms to take them to see Spice World in theaters at least ten times. The Spice Girls encouraged us to be bold in our femininity, to embrace female friendships and always be proud of who we were.

Just the other day, the Internet nearly exploded when Victoria Beckham, followed by the other girls as well, posted a photo as a group for the first time in ages. The caption was vague, but it sparked rumors of a reunion.

Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x #friendshipneverends #girlpower

A post shared by Victoria Beckham (@victoriabeckham) on

According to TMZ, those rumors might've had some truth to them. "Our sources say the plan now is for the group to hit the stage in England first and then migrate over to the U.S.," TMZ said. Unfortunately, they won't be making or releasing any new music, though.

Regardless, I couldn't be more excited.

Norovirus Hits Olympic Security Guards Days Before the Start of the PyeongChang Games

The Winter Olympics hasn't even had its Opening Ceremony yet and it's already making waves. According to CNN, South Korea has deployed 900 military personnel after more than 1,000 security guards were released from their responsibilities following an norovirus outbreak at PyeongChang's Olympic facilities.

Despite those monstrous numbers, not all of the security guards were affected. It was only 41 employees who suffered from the sudden outbreak of the gastrointestinal virus, but officials were worried that it would spread to other guards. Therefore, they pulled all 1,200 guards from their posts and employed the military in their spots instead.

Organizers said, "The military personnel...will be responsible for security checks of the 20 venues as they take up jobs such as security searches, previously done by civilian safety personnel, until the patients' condition is normalized."

In order to stop the spread of the virus to the Olympic arenas and transportation, everything involved with the Winter Games, including Olympic Village accommodations, went through disinfection. It certainly would not do if half of the athletes who worked so hard to get there or the spectators who had spent a great deal of money to see the Games wound up missing events because they're stuck in the bathroom.

All of the affected guards are staying in the same building to contain the outbreak as much as possible. The water around the facilities, as well as the food being served, is being tested in order to figure out what caused the outbreak in the first place. With so many athletes, spectators, dignitaries and officials soon entering the area, it's tantamount that the problem is resolved before the Opening Ceremony on Friday, Feb. 9.

Don't forget to tune in to see all of the Olympic excitement, starting Thursday, Feb. 8, and continuing for the following two weeks.

5 Non-Cheesy Date Ideas for Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is one of the holidays that never seems to go as well as you hoped. If you’re single, you are probably dreading pretending you are happy celebrating Galentine’s Day with your gal pals while being bombarded with social media posts of couples in love. Meanwhile, people in relationship are just as likely to be let down. While you might be excited at the prospect of a romantic night with your SO, chances are slim the night can live up to your expectations. But, if you opt out of the typical festivities of love, you could end up having a night much more fun and memorable. Being single doesn’t mean you need to spend the night alone and being in a relationship doesn’t mean you need to spend the night together.

Here’s what you can do instead:

Related: 6 Ways to Have Better Sex this Valentine’s Day

Eat junk food

There’s no need to pretend your idea of the perfect meal is oysters because it is on the set menu for the night. Erica Galluscio, a Hunter College student of the class of 2019 says, “If you wanna be low key this year, or if you’re going out with someone you’re not really DATING yet, then grab something cheap and fun like Crif Dogs or Atomic Wings.” Going to a drive-through instead of having a fine-dining experience will set a more relaxed tone for the night and really allow you to enjoy the company of your SO. Your date – and wallet – will also be thankful for the cheaper menu and casual dress-code, which will help alleviate any financial pressure from the night.

Go stargazing

While it may still be a tad cheesy, going stargazing is an often forgotten way to spend a romantic night. If you live in a big city, take a trip to the planetarium and learn about the lights in the sky. Or, if you live somewhere with dark and clear enough skies to see the stars laying out in the grass, find any nice and relaxing place. You can still get some information about stars regardless of where you are through stargazing apps, and in doing so will come to share with your SO the inevitable moment of realizing how small we are compared to the world. After hearing all about the vast spread of the universe, any issues in your night or relationship will start to seem a lot less important.

Skip the date

Even if you are in a relationship, you don’t need to spend the day with your SO. Not all relationships, especially those on the newer side, are ready for the pressure that Valentine’s entails. Amy Galland, founder of Plume and FlirtyQWERTY, explains that in a new or unofficial relationship, “the best idea is to celebrate yourself and spend the day alone or with friends, create your own rituals, and don’t put any unnecessary pressure on a relationship (new, committed, non-committed, or otherwise).” Watch your favorite rom coms, dress head to toe in red and pink or try out some Valentine’s themed Pinterest recipes; do anything fun and relaxing. Celebrate love without the concern of falling in love.

Explore nature

Taking a risk and exploring an exciting new area in your college town is a fun and adventurous way to make memories of Valentine’s Day you can cherish forever. Go to an outdoor skating rink and try to keep each other from falling or wander a new hiking path leading to a gorgeous waterfall. Instead of using Valentine’s to examine the state of your relationship, going on an outdoor journey will give you an exciting way to keep building its foundation and enjoying each other’s company.

Get creative

Being far away from your Valentine doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate if you want to. Galland notes, “When the person you care about is not nearby, it gives you the opportunity to be creative. Write them a poem, draw a picture, record a song, make a video and send it to them. I treasure the limericks, haiku, songs and drawings I received over the years so much more than the jewelry and fancy dinners.” Making something meaningful will make the day special regardless of where you spend it. Don’t worry if you aren’t an aspiring poet or painter; it’s the thought that counts and your SO will be able to see how much you care regardless of how it turns out.

Regardless of how you choose to spend the day, make sure not stress over it too much. There’s nothing wrong with being a little cliché, but trying something unexpected will take away the belief that the night needs to go a certain way. Galland says, “Know that you are amazing and Valentine’s Day exists to sell products, not to confirm someone else’s feelings about you and in turn validate yourself. Because you are fantastic sitting on the sofa with a bottle of wine and a tub of ice cream.” If you relax and get original this Valentine’s, you can have a great night instead of being disappointed by expectations for the night that never really made sense anyway.

Sorry, but Oprah Officially Shot Down Rumors of Her Running for President

Ever since her legendary speech after accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2017 Golden Globes, Oprah Winfrey has found herself at the center of rumors about the TV mogul running for president of the United States in 2020. People reportedly close to Oprah have shared mixed views on the credibility of the speculation, some saying she's all in  and others claiming she wouldn't dare. Now, Oprah herself has debunked any truth in the rumor for now.

PEOPLE reports that, while live-taping an episode of her podcast Super Soul Sunday with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Oprah made it clear that she had no plans of running for office. When Miranda, another fan favorite to try out government work, said that he wasn't going into politics, Winfrey said, "I'm not either."

Emphasizing why I'm sort of glad Oprah isn't running for office, Miranda replied to her confession, "I'd argue that being Oprah is a more powerful position that president."

Um, yes.

It's probably a good thing that Oprah isn't aiming for the White House, because then she definitely wouldn't have the time for hosting events similar to the Super Soul Sunday conversation. Held at New York's Apollo Theater, the live taping on Wednesday also included Oprah's discussions with Salma Hayek, Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, Jordan Peele and Yara Shahidi. A taping of the conversations will air on Oprah's network OWN on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Keep doing you, Oprah. You definitely don't need the prestige of presidential office to be amazing.

An Ingredient in McDonald's French Fries Could Prevent Baldness

I was just about to pat myself on the back for officially giving up McDonald's, but now there might be a reason to occasionally head on back to the Golden Arches. A new study says that a chemical used to cook McDonald's French fries can help improve hair growth. Miracles do happen.

Researchers at Japanese university Yokohama National University discovered the link while studying hair follicles and ways to generate more of them. The chemical oxygen-permeable dimethylpolysiloxane was used in the process of producing "hair follicle germs," becoming noticeable for helping along the hair-growing process.

Inc. reports that McDonald's uses that same chemical to reduce oil splatter in the cooking of their fries. If you think the use of any chemicals in food is a little sketch, the FDA reportedly claims that the chemical dimethylpolysiloxane is safely edible if its portion in food is less than 10 parts per million in food, aka a very small amount.

While the chemical ingredient doesn't exactly target hair growth, it has a proven record of moving along the process. So, if you need a legit reason to explain your fry addiction, maybe fall back on the claim that you're preventing future baldness?

10 Creative Things to Do for Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day, Singles Awareness Day or, as Liz Lemon would call it, Anna Howard Shaw Day. Whether you anticipate, dread or attempt to ignore February 14th, one truth remains: no matter how sweet this holiday was intended to be, it has the stigma of being completely cheesy. It’s no wonder that everyone thinks of those same cheap, red chocolate boxes; candlelit dinners; Hallmark cards and tiny fuzzy bears wearing mini T-shirts that read, “I heart you.” But collegiettes, it’s a new year, and this year, February 14 is not going to be cheesy. Why? Because HC is here to help make it creative. Here are 10 creative things for you, your SO and all your friends to do on Valentine’s Day.

1. Chocolate making

We know we just put chocolate in the cheesy category, but making your own? That’s creative—not to mention cheap! How many times have you seen that golden Godiva box and just walked away because it was too pricey?  No more, collegiettes. You and your SO (or your girls!) can bond over tasting too much of the recipe before it’s finished or even adding your own ingredients to the mix. And hey, if the recipe goes awry, switch to Plan B: Head to your favorite bakery and pig out! Find a chocolate recipe here.

2. Scavenger hunt

Pick out your favorite spots on campus as a couple and bury your clues there for the ultimate scavenger hunt. Your first clue can start off with a modern-day twist on the Cinderella: Instead of a glass slipper, leave behind a cowboy boot or a five-inch heel, and set your prince or princess out to find you on campus. You can even have your friends pitch in to help your SO out with the clue process. Have your SO set up a scavenger hunt for you, too, so that he or she won’t have to do all the hunting.

3. Middle school dance

Maybe it’s just our desire to relive the age where Britney Spears just wanted to hit it one more time and Ricky Martin was livin’ la vida loca, or maybe it’s just a well-known fact that the '90s were the best decade EVER, and we were too young to really appreciate it. So put a playlist together of the greatest hits, invite some friends over and rage like it’s 1999. You can slow dance and have all the cheesy games like Spin the Bottle or Seven Minutes in Heaven. You can have bowls of punch and tortilla chips and those metallic balloons that read “Be Mine.” If you really want to kick it up a notch, you and your guests can even dress up like your favorite pop stars of the decade. Because there ain’t no party like a Valentine’s Party.

4. Paintball

The paintball scene in 10 Things I Hate About You? Those weren’t paint streaks, guys, they were fireworks. And if it was good enough for Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, it’ll be amazing for you and your SO. An all-out paint war? And bragging rights if you win? Doesn’t get much better than that. Not to mention that when your single friends ask what you and your SO did on Valentine’s Day, this response won’t make them want to barf.

5. Ice-skating or roller-blading

Nothing says love like someone who’s there to catch you when you fall. Literally. Whether you’re both Olympic skating champs or only one of you could really work a job at Sonic, it doesn’t matter—it’s bound to be fun whizzing around the skating rink, holding hands. Or holding on to the railing, holding hands. And if your school has an ice hockey rink that’s open to students, say hello to free fun!

6. Movie night drinking game

Valentine's Day (maybe too obvious of a choice, but we’ll take it), Crazy, Stupid, Love. (Ryan Gosling’s abs? Happy Valentine’s Day to you!) and [insert any romantic comedy here]—it’s time for Valentine’s Day movie night with a twist. Add a bowl of popcorn and some champagne (if you’re 21+), and you’re good to go. The rules are up to you and your SO—for example, anytime someone casts a longing look or says, “She’s… I don’t know… different,” bottoms up. Just make sure you play this game responsibly (i.e., don’t drink every time Ryan Gosling looks hot).

7. Hot air balloon

If you’re willing to shell out the big bucks—and we do mean big bucks—soaring through the sky in a hot air balloon is the way to go. Sharing a beautiful bird's-eye view for two and pointing to a cloud you just passed— “Hey, I think that one’s cloud nine.”—makes for the best Valentine’s Day adventure EVER.

8. Picnic

How was bad boy Jess from Gilmore Girls able to wiggle his way between Rory and Dean? That’s right, a picnic. So gather up all your favorite foods and a nice, comfy blanket and head to the big outdoors. And for extra fun, write each other love notes—or, even better, love haikus (always bound to be a great laugh). If the weather’s bad, take the picnic indoors!

9. Planetarium

From star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet to that scene in A Walk to Remember when Landon makes a telescope for Jamie, nothing says "romantic" like the stars. Not only will you learn a lot on Valentine’s Day, it’s practically like being in a space zen garden—the soothing music, the changing sky, the audience noise at an absolute minimum. So look up the planetarium near you to check the times and the cost, and get ready for some stargazing.

10. Camping indoors

If The Parent Trap was your favorite movie growing up, then maybe you've decided camping is everything but romantic: mosquito bites, lizards in your hair, waking up to find that your mattress is floating in the middle of a lake. No thanks (although we’ll take Dennis Quaid)! If you take the camping indoors, however, that’s a whole other story. You can build your own fort in your dorm room—or really go wild and actually set up a tent in there—pull out the blankets, pillows, marshmallows and flashlights, and you’re ready for an imaginary camping adventure. You can tell scary stories, make shadow puppets, have pillow fights—whatever you want! And you can guarantee you won’t be covered in bug bites the next morning.

HC Wake-Up Call: Black Lives Matter Activist Is Shot and Killed, Nancy Pelosi Gives Eight-Hour Speech to House of Representatives & Gay Olympian Turns Down Meeting With Vice President Pence

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Black Lives Matter Activist Is Shot and Killed in New Orleans

Black Lives Matter activist Muhiyidin Moye was shot and killed while riding his bike on Tuesday morning, the New York Times reports. 32-year-old Moye previously gained notoriety for being caught last year on a live news broadcast running across police tape and grabbing a demonstrator's Confederate flag in Charleston.

Moye was found on the street bleeding from a leg wound early Tuesday morning. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, but later passed away. As of Wednesday night, it is unclear if Moye was intentionally or accidentally shot.

Nancy Pelosi Gives Eight-Hour Speech to Force Immigration Votes

The Washington Postreports that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi delivered a speech pleading for Republican action on immigration for more than eight hours. Pelosi's speech is now the longest read by any House of Representatives member in at least a century.

Pelosi began speaking soon after 10 a.m., calling for assurance of a group discussion on a crucial immigration bill. She began her day by asking aides earlier that morning to collect personal stories from DREAMers and gather Bible quotes. She completed the entire speech while standing, fitting the requirement that she couldn't stop her monologue to sit or use the bathroom.

Gay Olympian Turns Down Meeting With Vice President Pence

CNN says that U.S. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon reportedly turned down a meeting with Vice President Mike Pence after criticizing the politician's view on gay rights in a USA Today interview. Rippon, one of two openly gay U.S. Olympic athletes, first slammed Pence in the January interview for being the leader of the official U.S. delegation at the Olympic Opening Ceremony on Feb. 9. In response to the news, Rippon said, "You mean Mike Pence, the same Mike Pence that funded gay conversion therapy?"

A spokeswoman for Pence negated the comments, saying, "Despite these misinformed claims, the vice president will be enthusiastically supporting all the U.S. athletes competing next month in PyeongChang." Following the statement, a USA Today exclusive reported that Pence's staff asked for a discussion to be held between Rippon and the vice president, but Rippon declined.

Pence's office denied that there even was a request for a meeting. "The vice president's office did not reach out to set up a conversation with Mr. Rippon," said Pence's communications director Jarrod Agen. "As we've said before, the vice president is supporting all the U.S. athletes in the Olympics and is hoping they all win medals."

Drake Bought Everyone’s Groceries at a Miami Supermarket & Why Was I Not in Miami?

What’s not to love about Drake? He makes good music, gave his cousin the dream prom experience and has been buying up Birkin bags for his future wife. And it turns out the “God’s Plan” rapper is only continuing his giving ways.

Drake was in Miami recently where he paid for everyone’s groceries at a local supermarket, amounting to a cool $50,000. According to Billboard, one Instagram user who posted about the event said that Drake was even telling customers to buy more!

This is only one part of his giving spree, as he also recently gave a University of Miami student $50,000 for tuition and a Miami high school $25,000.

I’m telling you, this guy is a modern saint, and it only makes me love his music more.

Oh Sh*t, Angelina Is BACK On 'Jersey Shore: Family Vacation' In This New Sneak-Peek

Yesterday it was revealed that Jersey Shore: Family Vacation will premiere in April, and up until now, only the original cast (minus Sammi) was set to return. Now, it appears as though Angelina Pivarnick is back.

With the initial announcement of its return date came a trailer, but Angelina wasn't in it.

Then another teaser video was released, and this time, it's clear she'll at least make an appearance in the reboot.

Mike is seen as opening the door, clearly shocked she's there. Don't worry — Angelina didn't miss the opportunity to ask him if he still thinks she's a "dirty little hamster."

Though Mike was clearly surprised to see her, Jersey Shore showrunner Sallyanne Solsano said the girls of the house had much more interesting reactions.

Angelina herself took to Twitter to confirm she'd be on the show.

Well, this should make things (more) interesting, shouldn't it?

Kate Upton Is Speaking Out About The Sexual Harassment She Faced From Guess Co-Founder Paul Marciano

After coming forward with her #metoo claim against Guess co-founder Paul Marciano last week, model Kate Upton is opening up about the misconduct she allegedly faced in 2010 and 2011 with Marciano.

Upton recently spoke with Timemagazine, who heard the full story behind her #metoo allegations. She did not hold back, starting with the very first day of her lingerie shoot with Guess in July of 2010. "Paul Marciano said he wanted to meet with me. As soon as I walked in with photographer Yu Tsai, Paul came straight up to me, forcibly grabbed my breasts and started feeling them — playing with them actually. After I pushed him away, he said, 'I’m making sure they’re real,'" Upton told Time.

Upton said she tried to avoid him touching her, but it didn't really work. "He continued to touch me in a very dominating and aggressive way, grabbing my thighs, my arms to pull me closer, my shoulders to pull me closer, my neck, my breasts, and smelling me," Upton said. "He then told Yu Tsai to leave us alone. I was able to send a quick text to Yu Tsai asking him to stay. He did, but that did not stop Paul’s constant grabbing. I was extremely shaken, surprised and scared."

The touching only escalated, according to Upton. "At one point he forcibly grabbed the back of my head so that I could not move and started kissing my face and my neck," Upton said. "I remember not wanting to say 'Get off of me' because I didn’t want to open my mouth to say anything because I didn’t want him to be able to put his tongue in my mouth."

Upton told Time she had two options: do everything she could to wiggle away and avoid his pursuit, or "punch the CEO of Guess."

"So I decided to just wiggle away," Upton said.

According to Upton, Marciano also tried to take her to her hotel room. She declined, and was relived when Yu Tsai offered to walk her back.

It didn't end there, though.

A month after the shoot, Upton was on another one where Marciano became a lot more persistent. "As soon as I went up to my hotel room, Paul started calling me asking to come up and see how my room is," Upton said. "I politely declined several times. He continued to insist. He said he was already in the hotel lobby. He even called my room from the hotel lobby desk. After several denials, I just turned off my phone and locked the door and tried to get some sleep. I was terrified."

Upton said she was fired from the shoot the next day. "I was devastated, especially because at this point no one from Guess had even seen me."

The harassment continued at several other shoots, Upton said. She had a final shoot with the brand in May 2011, where Marciano was completely offensive about Upton's appearance. "He said I was 'disgusting' and started telling people how unprofessional I was by spreading rumors that I was drunk on set and partying every night, which of course I wasn’t. I was then told to leave because Paul had said, 'Get that fat pig off my set.'"

Her experience with Marciano really affected how she felt about herself. "It took a huge toll on my confidence and self-worth. I wanted to quit modeling. I constantly blamed myself after it happened: What am I doing to invite someone to treat me like that or grab me like that? I wondered if it was how I was presenting myself or what I was wearing. I started slumping my shoulders to hide my breast size, wearing baggy clothes, started despising my own body," Upton told Time.

She also called for change in the modeling world. "The culture of complacency and tolerance in our industry needs to stop," Upton said. "People know what is going on and have previously accepted it. And we can’t always require the victims to be the ones to speak up and tell their story because the victims only know their one story. The people around in the corporate offices or around the harassers every day know of every time they do this. They’re the ones who need to speak out."

Marciano has denied the allegations entirely, calling them "preposterous" in a statement to Time. Marciano also said, "I fully support the #metoo movement. At the same time, I will not allow others to defame me and tarnish my reputation. I have pledged to Guess and its Board of Directors my full support and cooperation with a fair and impartial investigation."

However, Tsai supported Upton's claims, saying he witnessed the harassment Upton described.

I’m sure you’re aware by now that Kylie Jenner was truly pregnant, gave birth and named her daughter Stormi, despite the rumors that she would definitely name her something related to Butterfly.

But now that the initial shock has passed, it’s time to talk about all of the beautiful bouquets the new mom has received, including the absolute cutest one from her beau and baby daddy Travis Scott: 443 white and baby pink roses.

I know what you’re thinking — what an odd, random number. But it's actually because Stormi was born on Februray 1, at 4:43 p.m.

Tell me that’s not the sweetest thing you’ve heard today.

In true Kardashian fashion, her family also sent her tons of flowers, which Kylie showed off on Snapchat recently. The bundle included light pink roses and an adorable handwritten note from Kourtney, a floral arrangement that says "Mom" from her own mom Kris Jenner and an ombré pink bouquet of roses from Kimye.

And we can't tell who sent this stunning floral arrangement of roses spelling out Stormi's name, but this is serious artistry.

Despite all of the gorgeous bouquets, the real winner here is Travis Scott. So cute!

4 Things You Shouldn't Do When You Find Out Your Ex is Dating Someone New

Pat Benatar had it right when she sang “Love is a Battlefield.” No one likes to see someone that they poured their heart and soul into falling in love with someone else. Jealousy is common but as much as the green monster can get the best of us, there are just some things that we should not do when our ex is dating someone new. These are a few of them.

1. Stalk their social media

We understand that the appeal is there. You may have wanted to be the bigger person and not unfollow your ex everywhere you could, which is great at the time, but when it comes to getting this new information, you may feel the urge to go find out every last detail about their new relationship as soon as possible. You will want to stalk your ex, their new bae, their friends, families and every last person you can think of. As much as information is power, it is also a demon. You don’t need to know everything.

Instead: Take a break from social media or do a cleanse. Use the time to unfollow or unfriend those people who may not really be contributing to your happiness. If you know you will have the ultimate urge, maybe discontinuing your strictly social media ‘friendship’ is the next step you need toward complete closure. It doesn’t mean you can’t be civil if you see each other in person.

2. Find a rebound

Hooking up with someone may distract you from whatever you are feeling now, but it probably won’t help in the long run. The same goes for jumping into a new relationship. Unless you genuinely care for the person and want to have fun or be with them, it won’t do you or them any justice to just mess around. And even if you do find someone that you want to be with, make sure you feel that you are ready for a new relationship and not to rush into things. Emily*, a senior at Framingham State University, says, "I was getting ready to finally enter a new relationship with someone I felt a true connection with. And once I realized that I had that new person and my ex had moved on, I felt that it was okay to officially move on myself."

Instead: Spend time with the important people who are already in your life. Talk more with your family and reach out to friends. Have a girls’ night, start binging a new show or go to the spa. Go spend time with yourself and really take the time you need to ensure your own happiness.

3. Go on a rampage

Seeing someone you cared for with someone new can be heartbreaking, and it is understandable to be angry or feel some sort of hatred. You may want to punch walls, rip your room to shreds, quit school or your job, and go on an isolation frenzy where you detach from anyone and everyone who dare enter your path. It is okay be feel whatever emotions make their way to your surface. Just don’t take it out on those who surround you. Domini Batista, a junior at Framingham State University, says, "I wanted to tell her how big of a shit he was, but after that I told him that I wish him the best of luck and now I'm friends with both of them."

Instead: Find other ways to express yourself. Be creative by writing, painting or trying a new artistic form. Exercise your body by taking a class or watching some YouTube videos of easy workouts you can do from home. It doesn’t necessarily matter what you do, but the extra energy that you get from your emotions can be an amazing power source that you use otherwise.

4. Spend too much time sulking

When you devote time and effort to someone, it is okay to be sad when they move on and give to someone else want you possibly wanted. But instead of destroying everything around you, you may feel the need to cry alone in your room with a pint of your favorite ice cream. You can hide away if need be, but it is important to know that you will have to come out eventually. Chelsea Hathaway, a senior at Framingham State University, says, "You always hope you will be 'the one' that they always wish they could have back, and once you see they are moving on and dating someone new you realize that part of your life is over."

Instead: Get out of the house or dorm every once in a while. Even just going for a walk or changing your scenery will help. Dedicate some time to make sure you are not alone. Even if it is a brief text just letting someone know you’re still alive and they don’t have to take care of the litter box for you can be good enough.

Yes, you might start freaking out when you see your ex with someone new. You may want to do any and all of these things, but in the end, we all know that we can’t let our old feelings get the best of us. There is a reason you are no longer with that person. Now you are free from them and can go on to rule the world.

A Google Translate Fail Caused Norway's Olympic Team To Receive A Whole Lot Of Eggs

When the chefs for Norway’s Olympic team received an order of eggs to feed their team, they expected to have 1,500 to work with. Instead, CNN reported that the chefs received 15,000 — and they weren't egg-static.

According to ESPN, there are 109 Olympic athletes on the Norway team, so the chefs placed a bulk order from a local store. They had thought they'd ordered 1,500 eggs but, when the truck arrived, the order contained 10 times that.

A spokesman for the Norwegian Olympic Committee told CNN that it was a mess-up attributed to Google Translate.

Fortunately, the store was able to take 13,500 of the eggs back, so the chefs were left with the original amount they ordered. With so many eggs, the Norwegian athletes would definitely eat well if they win during the Olympics, according to ESPN.

“We hope there will be a lot of sugar bread made for medal winners,” chef Stale Johansen said to a Norway network. Fans can only wonder what United States athletes may receive after winning in their competitions.

Jessica Biel Talked About How She's Already Introducing Sex-Ed To Her 2-Year-Old & It's So Important

Actress Jessica Biel had a candid conversation about her two-year-old son Silas at the 2018 MAKERS Conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday. She discussed her approach to sex-ed and how she and her husband Justin Timberlake have already begun teaching their toddler about his own body.

Biel described how she has been telling him the names of body parts, saying "... We're using technical terms and we're talking about when we shower together and this is what I've got, this is what you've got and you know we just talk about it. I know he's really young, but I really believe that you start it this early that there's no shame. I don't want to tell him to keep your private parts and this and that."

Her progressive and dedicated approach to ensure that her son is properly educated about his own body and how things work at an early age is a respectable step in the right direction, IMO.

Biel also said she's not taking things too seriously. "If you want to laugh and say vagina and laugh or say penis or whatever, well do it! Laugh and get it out, get the giggles out and then ask the real question that you know you have," Biel continued. "I think that's always what happened to me when I was young. It's like you just, you could barely get past the giggles to ask the real question, which was a really probably important question that as a young person you needed to know."

Preach.

A Woman’s Blowdryer Caught on Fire & I'm Never Blowdrying My Hair Again

When you’re rushing to be less late get to work in the morning, your biggest fear is probably messing up your winged eyeliner or forgetting to put on deodorant (granted, the Karen of your class/office/life will probs avoid talking to you then). Unfortunately, something much worse happened to a woman during her morning routine. Her freaking blowdryer started blowing fire— like a beauty product crossed with the Boring Company’s flamethrower that nobody asked for (or frankly needed).

Refinery29 reports that Erika Augthun Shoolbred wrote a scorching review of the product on her Facebook account, including a video which proved the OraCorp blowdryer spewed fire.

“Talk about a bad hair day! My new hair dryer (more like hair fryer) from OraCorp on Amazon.com became a blow torch on its first use this morning. A small burn on my hand and an enormous smell to my master bath - the company has yet to respond to my complaint,” Shoolbred wrote in the caption of her video, which TBH puts Targaryen’s dragons to shame.

After Shoolbred’s video went viral, Stylecaster claims that Amazon quickly credited her account and the product has since been removed from the site — because nobody wants to set their hair ablaze.

While this flamethrower is obviously catfishing as a blowdryer, Shoolbred managed to escape the flames with minimal harm. Shoolbred only suffered a minor burn on her hand, according to TeenVogue. Since the product is no longer marketed on Amazon’s virtual shelves, fellow Amazon shoppers won’t have to risk drying their hair for their own safety.

Although Amazon gave OraCorp Shoolbred’s contact information, OraCorp has yet to comment on this incident regarding their defective product. Hopefully, OraCorp will investigate this “blowdryer” and fix this dilemma — because we want our hair to look fire, not to be on fire.

'Celebrity Big Brother' Teaser: Omarosa Said That We Should Be Worried About President Trump, & His Tweets 'Haunted' Her Every Day While Working In White House

Celebrity Big Brother premiered on Wednesday night (it's first U.S. season ever) and there was no shortage of drama. One of the contestants is Omarosé Onée Manigault-Newman — though she usually just goes by Omarosa — who is most known for her stint on The Apprentice and her eventual role as a White House staffer.

In the premiere, she called herself a "reality TV legend," and revealed that she's actually a Big Brother superfan. But it's what came during the teaser for Thursday night's episode that had everyone (well, the internet) talking.

The teaser gets interesting when fellow contestant and American television personality Ross Matthews tells her that he didn't understand why she chose to work in the White House with President Trump.

Omarosa responded by saying she felt it was "a call to duty."

"I felt like I was serving my country, not serving him... It was always about the country," she continued, teary-eyed.

Then she talked about something a lot of people want to know more about — President Trump's tweets. "I was haunted by tweets every single day," Omarosa told Matthews. "Like, what is he going to tweet next?" Matthews responded, "Does anyone say to him, 'What are you doing?!'"

Omarosa claimed she tried to be that person, but she was only attacked by the people around him. "It was like, 'Keep her away from him. Don't give her access. Don't let her talk to him,'" Omarosa said.

Matthews asked her if anyone in the administration had the power to question what was going on, but Omarosa said she didn't know. "I'm not there. It's not my circus, not my monkeys. I'd like to say 'not my problem,' but I can't say that because it's bad," she told Matthews.

If you thought that was concerning, just wait. She went on to describe the situation in the White House as "bad."

Matthews then asked Omarosa if we should be worried. She nodded and said, "It's not going to be OK." WELP.

It's hard to say whether Omarosa is being genuine or just putting on a show. After all, she did call herself a reality TV legend! There were tears though, so who's to say. Regardless, Matthews' questions are things that many people likely want answers to, especially from someone who once worked so closely alongside President Trump.

More details will be revealed in a new episode of Celebrity Big Brother which airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Apparently A Study Linked Acne to Depression & It Might Have You Reconsidering Your Skincare, Self-Care Routines

A study published in theBritish Journal of Dermatology may have found a correlation between acne sufferers and an elevated risk of depression.

So does this mean that you have might be more at risk of a depressive episode every time a new blemish pops up on your face? Not necessarily, but the study reveals that there is a distinguishable link between acne and mental health disorders.

As Isabelle A. Vallerand, a University of Calgary epidemiologist and the lead author of this study, explains toThe New York Times: “It appears that acne is a lot more than just skin deep. It can have a substantial impact on overall mental health.”

During the course of the study, scientists researched a plethora of men and women, both with and without acne. Teen Vogue adds that over the course of 15 years, the scientists looked at a pool of 134,427 men and women with acne and 1,731,608 without acne. From their research, scientists found that 18.5 percent of the people with also experienced symptoms of depression. Whereas, only 12 percent of the people without acne had depression.

In Dr. Vallerand’s study, her teams of researchers found that the link between acne and depression is prevalent, even if the reason why these two very different diagnoses are connected is baffling. While the reasons why pimples and depression are linked are unclear, it isn’t surprising that a physical condition like acne can put someone at risk for a chronic mental health condition like depression.

Chronic physical conditions have been known to increase the chances of developing anxiety and depression. Though occasional zits might not seem like a chronic physical condition, acne-proned skin can is nearly impossible to treat, especially since there isn’t really a cure for acne.

“This study highlights an important link between skin disease and mental illness. Given the risk of depression was highest in the period right after the first time a patient presented to a physician for acne concerns, it shows just how impactful our skin can be towards our overall mental health," Dr. Vallerand told CTV News.

Any change, whether you’re transitioning to a new job, moving to a new state or getting a new pimple can impact your mental health. Regardless of how drastic or minor that change might be, it’s clear that your physical life can affect your mental health, which is why it’s vital to find a therapist you can trust.

Although self-care and therapy are both proactive ways to improve your mental health, Dr. Vallerand’s team concluded that subjects’ risk for depression typically dissipated after the five-year mark (of their acne diagnosis). The temporary depression risk could be attributed to acne sufferers finally learning to embrace their skin and all of its bumps and blemishes.
