Jennifer Lawrence & Emma Stone Got in a Hilarious Fight Over 'Easy A,'& It's Too Good to Miss

0
0

Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence recently appeared in The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable and proved that awesome female friendships are way more important than being competitive.

Appearing alongside Mary J. Blige, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney and Saoirse Ronan, the actresses were asked by moderator Matthew Belloni, “Is there a line from one of your films, one of your characters, that sticks with you?” Emma, in typical fashion, gave the best and most amazing answer. “'Piss off, Quiznos.’ That’s from Easy A. I shove a Quiznos guy and say, ‘Piss off, Quiznos.’”

J. Law then jumped in and revealed that she auditioned for the part of Olive Penderghast, which Emma ended up famously playing. “I auditioned for Easy A. I wanted it so bad!” Emma responded, laughing, “Well, guess what? You didn’t get it. You didn’t get it because you suck!” Jennifer picked up on the joke and yelled, “Outside!”

Of course there are no hard feelings between the two. They routinely praised each other throughout the rest of the interview. We’re sure that Jennifer would've been amazing in Easy A, but the image of Emma singing “Pocketful of Sunshine” in the shower will always hold a special place in my heart.

Unless you’ve fallen off the face of the earth, you’ve heard that Taylor Swift dropped her much-anticipated album Reputation last week. But what you may not know is Taylor has a tradition of picking up a copy of her new albums at Target stores, and this time, she dropped by a location in Nashville to continue celebrating her music with fun surprises for her fans.

Taylor arrived at Target Tuesday night with a squad of back-up singers and dancers, detailing the adventure on Instagram Stories for those who couldn’t be there with her. Once there, Taylor spent time autographing CDs and posing for pictures with the lucky shoppers. Fans were thrilled to have this exciting and unexpected meet-and-greet with one of pop’s most influential singers, sharing their photos all over social media.

You can call it what you want to, but Reputation will undoubtedly be one of the top pop albums of the year. It's an incredible illustration of Taylor’s musical talent and another shift away from her country-princess image toward a more mature and courageous artist with a completely different vibe—she's embracing both her supporters and her critics.

Does anyone else feel like they’re her mom watching her grow from a young girl into a strong, independent woman? So what’s next, Taylor? I'm ready for it!

Corinne Olympios Admits She Was Engaged After 'The Bachelor'

We all know Corinne Olympios. She was one of the many women competing for Nick Viall’s heart on Season 21 of The Bachelor. Corinne made it to the final four (with many memorable moments along the way) before being eliminated. Then she moved on to Bachelor in Paradise, where she was involved in a sexual misconduct investigation with fellow contestant DeMario Jackson.

But before she went to Paradise, Corinne returned home, and in March, multiple sources reported that she had reconnected with her ex-boyfriend and was engaged! Corinne denied the reports at the time, but she recently admitted that she was, in fact, engaged.

Speaking about her secret engagement, Corinne said, “A lot of people don’t know this. It was exactly a year ago. Literally yesterday I got engaged last year. I got home and he showed up at my house with a ring. I gave it back. I could never keep something like that.”

Corinne also discussed her current relationship status. Despite many rumors, she's not dating DeMario. Instead she's looking for a new boyfriend. When asked what she's looking for in a partner, Corinne said, “I just want a guy that will check in with me even when he’s having a super busy day, [a guy with] a good job [who] has his shit together…and just [gives off] good vibes.” She further explained, “I don’t like people that are cocky. I have come across so many guys that are just way too into themselves and it is such a turn-off.”

Wow! Between selling her own merch and appearing on multiple reality shows, I don’t know how Corinne found the time to get engaged and then break off her engagement! It’s nice to know that she's back out in the dating world and is looking for a serious relationship. I wish her all the best!

Ben Affleck Might've Made a Joke About Sexual Harassment, & You Can Guess How People Are Responding

0

With all the claims of sexual harassment, assault and misconduct that have been rocking Hollywood, Ben Affleck has not been immune. Last month, the Justice League star was accused of groping actress Hilarie Burton during a 2003 appearance on MTV’s TRL. Affleck issued an apology to Burton via Twitter.

Then, just last week, out of either basic human decency or a desperate attempt to improve his public image, Affleck announced he would follow Kevin Smith’s lead and donate any residuals from Weinstein Company or Miramax-produced films that he worked on to charity. Things were kind of looking up for him.

However, a video from a Justice League press interview last week has emerged, and people are livid all over again. In the video, the interviewer asks Ray Fisher, who plays Cyborg, what would happen if Supergirl joined the Justice League. Fisher diplomatically replied, “I think it would create a different dynamic.” Affleck then felt the need to (unnecessarily) add, “You following the news at all?”

First of all, his remarks are vague and a little hard to interpret, so it’s difficult to decide what he meant by them. However, many social media users feel that his comment was a crass joke about the recent news stories about sexual harassment.

I sincerely hope that Affleck’s comment was just a bizarre slip of the tongue that came after a long day of press for his new film. But I feel like I need to repeat something I've said before: It’s never acceptable to joke about harassment or assault. Period. Let’s hope that Affleck’s PR team has a little chat with him about appropriate behavior before he continues on this press tour.

How to Be an Active Sorority Sister Without Being On The Exec Board

0
0

People say that Greek life is what you make of it, and that couldn’t be more true. You can choose what events you attend, whether you want to live in the house, if you’ll join student orgs outside of your sorority. One of the most popular ways to get involved is taking an executive board position. But, what if you don’t feel comfortable taking a leadership role just yet, or if you ran for a position and didn’t get it? Don’t worry; there are sooo many ways to stay involved with your sorority when you’re not on the exec board.

1. Take a different position

The exec board positions aren’t the only positions available to sorority sisters! Sydney, a sophomore in Alpha Omicron Pi at University of Michigan, says, “If you want to get involved but aren’t on the executive board or leadership council, you can always take a less time intensive position, such as an assistant position.” This gives you the opportunity to get involved in a substantial way without much of the time commitment. Plus, if you have the official position title, it’s something you can put on a resume, so it helps you, too! As Kathlein, a junior in Kappa Delta at Wittenberg University, explains, “Our sorority has appointed positions–which are positions that you do not have to be voted into but you can sign up for! These positions help with things like making sure we are staying socially involved with other Greek life orgs and stuff around campus and supporting non-Greek organizations.” Being a big is also a great opportunity, and it gives you an automatic new friend!

2. Offer to help the exec board out with smaller events

Heather, a sophomore in Alpha Gamma Delta at University of Michigan, says, “I may not be on executive board but I love helping out at smaller tasks like philanthropy events because I feel very connected with my sister and together we can make a real impact.” Even if you’re not the one running the event, your help does not go unnoticed! Sororities are all about team effort and relationship-building, and helping your sisters out is one of the best ways that you can show you care. So, make sure you put yourself out there as someone your sisters can rely on! Sydney suggests participating in “one of the many Panhellenic and IFC events, such a Greekweek, or going to leadership or exec meetings that are open to the entire chapter.”

Angela, a sophomore in Sigma Kappa at Eastern Michigan University, serves on the exec board as the senior Panhellenic delegate. She adds that, “Being on exec board can be stressful because there’s always a lot to do and it’s really helpful when people not on exec board offer to help. Also, if someone has an interest in being on exec board, it looks really nice when they always offer to help, because it shows that you want to be involved.”

3. Get to know your sisters outside of a sorority setting

“Greek life is about forming relationships, so to stay involved in Kappa Delta I make sure to actively talk with my sisters when I see them on campus to keep our sisterhood strong,” says Kathlein. It’s true; if you don’t want to form solid relationships with your sisters, then why did you go Greek? As the saying goes, the best way to make a friend is to be a friend, so it’s important that your sisters know that you’re there for them. Sarah*, who’s in Alpha Delta Pi at University of Michigan, says, “I stay active by looking out for my sisters in their mental health with school or looking out for them physically at parties.” Making friends is hard work at first, so you may not feel like hanging out with girls in your sorority outside of Greek events, but once you start to create that bond, it will all be worth it.

4. Invite your friends who aren’t in your sorority to events

When your sorority is hosting a philanthropic event, it’s easy to change your profile picture on Facebook, or text the required number of people, but how often is it that you actually encourage people to come? Philanthropic events don’t work if the sisters are the only ones who show up. So instead of just doing enough to get points, do your best to get people to come! Use it as an opportunity to connect with your friends from the dorms or student orgs. Events are a fun and easy way to make a difference, and you should embrace the opportunity!

5. Be proud of your sorority

As Kathlein says, “An easy way to be involved around campus is representing your sorority by wearing letters and being an example of your sorority’s values!” If you’re constantly complaining loudly in class, or acting belligerent at parties, that reflects not only on you but on your sorority. So no matter where you go on campus, remember that you are representing your sorority, and always keep your values in mind. Don’t forget to wear your letters, either! You didn ’t get all that gear for nothing , did you? You got a bid from that srat for a reason, and you have every right to be proud!

Sororities can be overwhelming, especially at first, and if you’re not on exec board it can be tempting just to lay low. But, you rushed for a reason, and you should never feel like you’re not a real member of your sorority. There are so many ways to get involved, you just have to look out for them!

Texas State University Is The Latest To Suspend All Greek Organizations Following The Death of 20-Year-Old Pledge

0

As students on Tuesday mourned a 20-year-old Phi Kappa Si pledge at Texas State University, the school's President Denise M. Trauth suspended all fraternities and sororities until the greek system on campus recieved a "thorough review."

According to Buzzfeed, Matthew Ellis, 20, was found unresponsive Tuesday morning after attending an off-campus event. Ellis, a transfer student in his sophomore year studying business, had reportedly attended a fraternity event Sunday evening and was found unresponsive at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday morning in the Millennium Apartments, an off-campus housing complex. Ellis was pronounced dead at 12:28 p.m.

"These chapters are prohibited from holding new-member events, chapter meetings, social functions, and philanthropic activities until a thorough review of the Greek Affairs system is completed," Trauth stated

San Marcos police released the following statement after a press conference Tuesday, released by Click 2 Houston, stating that it was still too early to tell if Ellis’ death was a result of hazing. They also stated they have no previous knowledge of alcohol-related incidents with the fraternity. They do believe, however, that the drinking was done at a private fraternity and not in public.

According to the New York Times, the national Phi Kappa Psi organization stated that they suspended the Texas University chapter last Tuesday due to unrelated matters. This suspension will continue through the investigation of Ellis’ death.

No arrests have been made, however pending charges can vary from furnishing alcohol to a minor and manslaughter.

Little Mama, The Oldest Living Chimp, Has Died & Florida Will Never Be The Same

Lion Country Safari in Palm Springs, Florida suffered a loss of one their beloved chimpanzees this week, announcing the death of Little Mama on Twitter on Tuesday, November 14.  Little Mama was the oldest living captured chimpanzee with the biggest heart and will surely be missed.

Mama was in her late 70's when she passed. She reportedly passed surrounded by her family which consisted of a group of eight chimpanzees and some park employees.

According to Palm Beach Post, the park's veterinarian believe the cause of death was kidney failure. A necropsy, an autopsy performed on an animal, is set to be performed.

Along with being the world's oldest chimpanzee, Mama was a visitor and staff favorite at the safari.

“She held a special place in the heart of anyone who ever had the privilege to meet her. In all ways, Mama was special. It soothes me to think that she will be with us forever, in our hearts and memories,” primate curator Tina Cloutier Barbour told Sun Sentinel.

Mama was also known for snuggling under her blankets on cool safari mornings and always carried a stuffed animal with her. Born in Africa around 1938, Mama came to the safari in 1967 after spending time as a pet. Mama was also believed to be a performer for the Ice Capades, according to Miami Herald

Common chimpanzees usually have a typical lifespan of 50 years, according to Wikipedia. Mama did not only live a whopping 79 years but brought a lot of love to everyone who knew her.

The Tehama County Shooter Has Been Identified & Reportedly Killed His Wife The Night Before His Attack

Following the tragic shooting in Northern California on Tuesday that left four people dead and several others (including seven school children) injured, more details are beginning to emerge about the gunman, identified on Wednesday as Kevin Neal, 43, of CNN reports, including the development that Neal had killed his wife the night before he began his deadly rampage.

Neal reportedly began his attack a little before 8 a.m, killing a neighbor who had put a restraining order on him since his arrest in January. However, Neal's wife's body was reportedly found beneath the floorboards of his house, as ABC 7 reports, leaving investigators to believe that her death was the start of the attack.

"He then stole a pickup truck, and went on a rampage in town, shooting at homes, motorists, and eventually the school, apparently at random,” Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston.

CNN reports that Neal arrived at the elementary school nearby and tried to enter, however, the staff was alerted, the doors were locked and the students hid. Neal wasn't able to get inside, and after trying for a few minutes, he left. He reportedly then crashed his truck into a car, killed another person and stole another vehicle before being stopped by police officers who eventually shot and killed him.

As noted following the Sutherland Springs shooting, violence against a shooters' spouses (and particularly violence against women) is painfully common in instances of mass shootings that are growing more and more frequent. According to Massshootingtracker.org there have been 391 mass shootings in the United States in 2017.

19 Reasons Why Your Best Friend From Childhood Will Be Your Lifelong BFF

0
0

If you’re really lucky, you have that one friend who has been with you through every stage of your life, and you know they'll be there for every stage that will follow. They’ve been there through thick and thin, in good times and in bad times, and you know they’re not going anywhere. You’ve put up with each other for this long. Chances are, you two are in this for the long run. Here are 19 reasons why your childhood best friend will be your lifelong best friend.

1. They know too much about you

They were there when you had your first crush, when you threw up during a class field trip in third grade, when you choked during the school play—you get the point. They know about every crush you’ve ever had and have witnessed every dumb thing you’ve ever done and said. At this point, they know too much to let them go.

2. And you know everything about them

Seriously, you know everything there is to know about them, and they know everything there is to know about you. Not just the embarrassing things, but the things that make you, well, you.

3. They can tell what you’re thinking just by looking at you

You’ve got the whole telepathy thing down by now, so you don’t even need to speak to communicate with them anymore. You basically have your own language. Who else can you do that with, besides maybe your SO?

4. You survived your awkward phase together

All that’s left are a few unfortunate pictures of those terrible, formative years and your best friend’s memories. If you can survive puberty together, you can survive anything. And if they loved you throughout your emo phase, they’ll love you for the rest of their lives.

5. They were friends with you even when you had a bowl cut

True friendship.

6. You can reminisce about the good old days with them

Or the not-so-good old days. Either way, they’re always down for some throwbacks.

7. And you guys can gossip about people you went to school with

The only thing more fun than reminiscing about the good old days is talking about all of the people you guys were forced to put up with seven to eight hours a day, five times a week for over 10 years.

8. You can be yourself around them

There are no filters or barriers around them. Any walls you may have had have long been broken down. There’s no one else you’re more comfortable with.

9. You have a million inside jokes with them

It’s actually kind of obnoxious, but people don’t know what you guys are talking about half of the time.

10. Their family is your family

They’re a part of your family now, and you’re a part of theirs. You know their family almost as well as you know your own. You probably know each other’s families well enough that you’ll show up before your friend is even home and hang out with their parents.

11. They’ve seen you ugly-cry

They know how ugly that can get, yet here they still are.

12. They remind you of home

And home isn’t the same without them.

13. You could call them in the middle of the night to move a body and they would

It would probably look a lot like that time SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs thought they killed the health inspector and tried to hide the body, but it’s the thought that counts.

14. They’re always there to hear you vent

They’re your best friend for a reason. Chances are, they know what it is you need when you’re upset, and sometimes that just means listening to you rant about the same thing for two hours.

15. You can do absolutely nothing with them and enjoy it

You no longer feel obligated to do something every time you hang out, so half of the time you just lay in bed on your phones watching Netflix.

16. You can’t imagine your life without them

They’ve been there through every major stage of your life so far—childhood, your awkward preteen years, your heartbreaks and your struggles. You can’t imagine not having them in your life for the stages that are to come.

17. You already know they’re going to be one of your bridesmaids or your maid of honor

You’ve talked extensively about your future weddings, to the point where you could probably plan each other’s wedding.

18. They made you who you are today

They played a huge role in making you the person you are today. It only makes sense they’d stick around to see the finale.

19. Even distance can’t break your bond

Maybe you two no longer go to the same school now that you’re away at college, but that hasn’t had an impact on your friendship. When you see each other again, you pick up right where you left off, and it’s like you were never apart.

Angelina Jolie Just Gave a Powerful U.N. Speech About Sexual Violence

After sharing that she had a "bad experience" with Harvey Weinstein when she was younger, Angelina Jolie recently discussed sexual violence and its role in Hollywood in a United Nations speech. Entertainment Weekly reports that Jolie addressed Hollywood's publicized plight with sexual abuse while reminding the U.N. to work on the prevention of it on a global scale.

"Sexual violence is everywhere—in the industry where I work, in business, in universities, in politics, in the military and across the world," the actress said in a keynote speech delivered at Vancouver's U.N. Peacekeeping Defense Ministerial Conference on Wednesday.

"All too often, these kinds of crimes against women are laughed off, depicted as a minor offense by someone who cannot control themselves, as an illness, or as some kind of exaggerated sexual need," Jolie, who serves as a Special Envoy for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refuges, said. "But a man who mistreats women is not oversexed. He is abusive."

The Oscar-winning actress also touched upon the absurdity of women still experiencing sexual violence in a "time of all these laws and all these resolutions.""Women still have to ask for this most basic of entitlements—the right to a life free from violence," she pointed out.

While her delivery of the speech is clearly captivating, Jolie's full speech is just as powerful. Referencing current events in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Bangladesh, she closed her speech by calling the audience to action.

"In doing this work, you will not only help to strengthen your societies and improve peacekeeping," said Jolie, "but you will play your part in showing that no perpetrator is above the law and no survivor is beneath it."

Props to Jolie for using her special position to bring even more attention to the worldwide issues of sexual violence and abuse.

'Titanic' Is Returning to Select Theaters for One Week Only

I don't know about you, but nothing says "celebrating the holidays" to me like watching an epic romantic movie. Titanic is one of the greatest in that category, and this December, you'll have the chance to revisit this love story on the big screen. In honor of the film's 20th anniversary, a remastered version of Titanic will hit movie theaters for one week starting on December 1. Excuse me, I'm booking my tickets now!

Cosmopolitan reports that the film will be re-released in more than 85 AMC theaters, marking its second re-release since it was released in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ship Titanic sinking. Those who buy tickets through AMC will even receive a free digital download of the movie. Fans making the trip to the theater can see the film in either 2D or 3D,  but either type of screening will show the remastered film in Dolby Vision's ultra-high-definition mode. In other words, Leonardo DiCaprio will probably be even more beautiful.

Director James Cameron appeared in the beginning of a new trailer for the film, citing Titanic's remastering as a key reason for its re-release. "When we mastered Titanic in Dolby vision, I was stunned," he said. "It was like seeing it for the first time."

In a press release announcing the return to cinemas, Cameron explained, "This is beyond 3D, beyond 70mm, it's beyond anything you've seen before. The image leaps off the screen as bright and vibrant as life itself. This is the way all movies should be seen."

Something tells me that Cameron definitely didn't need to remaster the film to stir up interest for a re-release.

I am definitely working a trip to see Titanic into my schedule the week of December 1. Once a classic, always a classic.

Six Democrats Have Filed Articles of Impeachment Against Trump

0
0

Six Democrats brought forth five articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Wednesday, NBC News reports. The Democrats accused him of obstruction of justice among other offenses after announcing plans earlier this month to file for impeachment.

This isn't the first time representatives have tried to impeach Trump, but attempts usually don't last very long in the Republican-dominant House. Despite the slim chance of success, this group of Democrats has gone ahead with accusing Trump of obstruction of justice connected to the FBI's investigation of Russia's role in the 2016 election. The specific charge reportedly arose out of Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey.

"We have taken this action because of great concerns for the country and our Constitution and our national security and our democracy," said Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen of Tennessee at a news conference. He has joined forces with Democratic Reps. Luis Gutierrez (Illinois), Al Green (Texas), Marcia Fudge (Ohio), Adriano Espaillat (New York) and John Yarmuth (Kentucky) to work on this campaign.

The team's efforts have led to others' concern that their actions could harm the Democratic party in the upcoming congressional elections, but Cohen remains optimistic. "I think the Democratic base needs to be activated," he said. "The Democratic base needs to know there are members of Congress willing to stand up against this president."

He is, however, aware of the difficult limits their articles of impeachment face in the House, CNN reports. "I don't expect the House judiciary committee, which is operated like a branch of the administration, to take up hearings," he said.

Prominent figures in Trump's administration have been clear about their negative views of the Democratic attempts. In a statement, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that the representatives' time "would be better spent focusing on tax relief for American families and businesses."

Republican National Committee spokesman Michael Ahrens was also disapproving, saying, "House Democrats lack a positive message and are completely unwilling to work across the aisle, so instead they've decided to support a baseless radical effort that the vast majority of Americans disagree with."

HC Wake-Up Call: Twitter Removes Verification of White Supremacists, At Least 22 People Sue NutriBullet for Injuries & Amazon Will Cut Whole Food Prices for the Holidays

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

Twitter Removes Verification From Some of Its Users

After pausing its verification system after approving the account of white supremacist leader Jason Kessler, Twitter has begun removing some users' verified check marks. CNN reports that the social media site has introduced new guidelines for its verification system and that those who post "content that incites hates and harassment" could be at risk of losing their verified status. Kessler has lost his check mark, along with white nationalist Richard Spencer.

People Are Suing NutriBullet After Their Blenders Reportedly Malfunctioned & Hurt Them

BuzzFeed News reports that at least 22 people are suing NutriBullet after the blenders reportedly malfunctioned and severely harmed their users. According to several lawsuits, the blenders "exploded" from heat and built up pressure insider the container, causing users to get burned. Some people reportedly needed stitches after the blenders' blades began spinning before they were completely put together. NutriBullet's corporate attorney Mark Suzomoto claims that the injuries probably resulted from misuse, but the company has still received criticism for not bothering to fix the product design for safety reasons.

Amazon Will Cut Whole Food Prices for the Holidays

Amazon already cut down prices at Whole Foods when it took over the grocery store chain earlier this year, but now it plans to spread some holiday joy and introduce more discounts in the next few weeks. Refinery29 reports that Amazon will put select products on discount for the holiday season and offer exclusive deals to Amazon Prime members. You can look out for discounts on turkey, pumpkin and sweet potatoes, so I know where I'm doing my Thanksgiving shopping.

What to look out for…

We're at the one-week countdown until Thanksgiving, so why not celebrate that with a feast of fast food? You can stuff yourself with (somewhat) healthy food next week, so take today to recognize National Fast Food Day.

The Night Before An Exam: Do’s & Don’ts

When it comes time to study for an exam, most college students are huge procrastinators and will try to cram the night before the exam. But that isn’t what you should be doing––which we all know. The night before an exam is the perfect time to calm down your nerves, get a ton of rest, and the time to do things that work for you.

Here are some things that you should do the before an exam:

Go to bed early to get enough sleep

It may seem worth it to just stay up and study as much of the material that you can, but in the long run, you won’t actually remember much of what you learned. When you sleep, your body naturally moves the information from the day into short-term memory and long-term memory. So, when you stay up all night, your body doesn’t get the chance to store the information for later so you’re less likely to remember for the test.

Eat a protein-fill breakfast in the morning

Your brain needs proteins and other healthy material to be able to function on a day-to-day basis so don’t skip out on a meal before your test. Your brain needs the energy to work hard.

Alternate different studying spots

Studying in different locations and with different people can immensely improve your studying ability. You’re less likely to become bored or distracted when you study in different places. I typically like to study in my apartment, at the library, or at a friend’s apartment who’s in the same class as me.

Minimize distractions

It feels like we tend to always have their phone in their hands or have earbuds permanently attached to their ears. But when you’re studying, it's best to put those distractions away and try to only focus on your coursework. The reason why this will increase the amount of material that you will remember is that you’ll be in the same environment during the test as when you studied the material. During an exam, you’re not able to listen to music or play on your phone so studying in a quiet location is the best possible option.

Kim Kardashian Says Having a Baby via Surrogate Is Harder Than Being Pregnant

Kim Kardashian is expecting her third baby via surrogate, but instead of celebrating with pink confetti (yes, it’s a girl!), she’s had to deal with public backlash that’s arisen over using a surrogate.

Kardashian revealed to Entertainment Tonighthow the process has been “really different.” Kim disagrees with critics who've said surrogacy is an easy way out, pointing out the need for total trust with the surrogate and consideration for safety and health, all while struggling with not being able to carry the child herself. “Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong,” Kim said. “I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control. And, you know, obviously you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with, but it is still…knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not, you know, my baby now, it's hard for me. So, it's definitely a harder experience than I anticipated just in the control area.”

Although Kim didn't enjoy being pregnant before, she still wishes she could've carried her third child. “I hated being pregnant and I never thought I'd ever…I thought this was going to be so easy, but you know, even in how much I hated it, if I could do it myself I would have preferred that.” That being said, she understands how blessed she is to be able to have a child this way.

Despite the intimate and private nature of this subject, it goes to show how deeply important this child is to Kim. Many women are unable to carry children and have turned to new medical advances like in vitro fertilization and surrogacy in order to have a baby, so why is it fair to scrutinize Kim—especially without knowing the full situation? This should serve as a learning experience for everyone to refrain from judgment and encourage open-mindedness and kindhearted support.

North West Wants To Be a Beauty Vlogger & How Cute Would That Be?

Watch out beauty vlogging community, because North West may just join you in the competition for views. In her latest interview with WWD, Kim Kardashian West revealed that her four-year-old is already sharing her family’s love of makeup and beauty––and she wants to take it to the spotlight.

"My daughter watches so many YouTube tutorials and videos, and she was unboxing the My Little Pony ColourPop collection, and I thought to myself, 'I wish I was recording this,' because her reaction was so funny," Kim explained. "And then she did makeup on the My Little Pony that they gave, and she said, 'Mom, I want to do a YouTube video.’” Considering that North's mom and aunt Kylie, both have their own independent makeup lines and successful beauty brands, it makes sense that North not only has a passion for beauty, but wants to show it off in the most Kardashian-way possible: as a vlogging star.

To Kim and Kanye’s credit, the soon-to-be parents of three acknowledge that this might be a bad idea at North’s current age. With cyberbullies and trolls as a prevalent part of not only the beauty vlogging scene, but also the Kardashian’s daily lives, Kim worries that these ill-willed people could affect her daughter.

My baby girl turned 4 years old today! She's my light & my everything!!! I love you to the moon & back North

We're North, Saint and their future sibling, will all have social media eventually––after all, having an Instagram account is as natural as breathing if you’re a Kardashian. For now, North's cuteness, and obvious talent for makeup, will be kept well under wraps by her protective parents.

7 Things You Should Do Now If You're Graduating This Semester

For most college seniors, the time to start freaking out about graduating is when spring rolls around. But for those who are graduating in December, the stress starts now. Before you start the rest of your life, make sure that you have made the most of your college experience by doing these seven things.

1. Apply for graduation

This may seem fairly obvious, but for students who are graduating during an out of the ordinary time, this step can get missed fairly easily. Although it varies by school, it is typical for schools to require that students apply to graduate during a specified time period. For example, if you are graduating after fall 2016, most schools have the application period open from June 2016 to mid-November, or even late October. So to make sure you actually are going to graduate when you think you are, go to your school's academic website and check out the requirements.

2. Go hard with the student discounts

In a few short months all those discounts that you have grown to love are going to be gone, so take advantage of them! Whether that is a local bar or an online shop, save money by purchasing all the things you need (or maybe just want) now. Sarah Kolin, a graduating senior at the University of Michigan, is a firm believer in taking advantage of student offers. "Ever since I finalized that I was going to be graduating early, it really hit me that in a few short months I can kiss my student discount at Top Shop goodbye," she says. And frankly, that is never an easy goodbye so you might as well stock up now.

3. Try out a new student club

After four years or maybe even three and a half, there are probably a lot of incredible things that you have gotten to be a part of on your campus. But most likely, there are still some activities you haven't tried. "For me, graduation is in a few months and there is still so much I feel like I haven't done," says Allie Teperberg, a senior at Cornell University. "My campus has a hip-hop club that I never even knew about until this month and now is my last chance to meet some new people while doing something I love." Just like for Allie, now is the best time to try something new and maybe even step out of your comfort zone a little bit. What do you have to lose?

4. Touch base with old professors and advisors

As it gets closer to the moment where you walk across the stage, you might be feeling pretty grateful for the experiences that you have had. In fact, there are probably a lot of people you want to thank besides your parents. Beth Haymaker, an academic advisor at New York University, believes that networking and touching base with old professors is an important thing to do before you graduate and leave the campus community. "Throughout your college experience, you build really great relationships and meet some amazing people," she says. "But once you graduate, those people are not as easily accessible. If you have built relationships with professors in the field that one day you hope to go into, it is important to maintain that relationship." That starts with getting coffee and thanking them for everything they have done.

5. Meet up with your freshman year roommates

Although your senior year friends may be very different from your freshman year friends, it might be good to see them and talk about how much has changed. Reflecting on your past can help you grow in more ways than you could ever think. Becca Taylor, a senior at New York University, definitely understands this first hand. "When I was a freshman I had such different friends than I do now," she says. "But looking back, those relationships were still a big part of my life." For Becca, seeing them again was a nice reminder of how much can change.

6. Assess the relationships in your life

While you should be doing this at any stage in your life when you graduate you really are ending one chapter of your life and starting a new one. For many, this also means starting fresh with friendships and relationships. Leaving college and entering the real world is not easy, but it's exceptionally hard if you are still holding on to relationships just because they remind you of the good old days. Melanie Brock, a senior at Vanderbilt University, knows that once she graduates, she wants to try to leave her college life really behind her. "I have made some incredible friends here but when I look at my future, some of them are not the people that I know will always be there for me," she says. Instead of wasting time on trying to hold those relationships together, she is going into the workforce ready to make new friendships.

7. Think about what’s next for you

This may seem obvious because you are graduating and moving on with your life, but for many, the next step is really freaking scary. Do you go to grad school? Do you take a year off and travel? Do you enter the workforce? This is something you need to think about now. For many graduate schools, the deadlines have already passed and if you haven’t yet taken the necessary exams to get in, you may be behind. "If you don't already know what you are doing after graduation, you should probably have a meeting with your advisor," says Haymaker. Figuring out your next move is crucial, because "once many students graduate and go home, it only gets harder for them to move back out" and live on their own. But after you have a plan and figure that out, the rest is easy.

So while graduation may seem like an eternity away, the next few months are guaranteed to fly by. Whether it's reflecting on all the relationships you've developed or maxing out your credit card with student discounts, it's important to do everything you can before you graduate. Entering the real world is scary, but with a little preparation, it'll be a piece of cake.

The Trump Administration Reversed A Ban On Bringing Elephant Hunting Trophies Back To The United States & Activists Are Understandably Angry

With a new administration in office comes new laws and outlooks — but the Trump administration appears to be doing things a little differently by trying to undo just about everything that the previous administration created. The latest rollback comes in the form of undoing a ban on elephant trophy imports by hunters.

According to USA Today, hunters will be allowed to bring back elephant ivory trophies from their hunting expeditions in Zimbabwe and Zambia which President Barack Obama banned in 2014 because the countries couldn't provide numbers showing their ability to protect their elephant populations.

For activists, this is outrageous because elephants are listed as endangered. According to the WWF, African elephants’ status is vulnerable as they “are in sharp decline due to poaching for the international ivory trade.”

Although hunters do pay huge amounts of money to do their sport and a lot of the money can go back into wildlife conservation, as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, these animals are still being killed at an alarming rate. Activists (and literally anyone who cares about animals) are not okay with this and took to Twitter to speak out:

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke had previously established an “International Wildlife Conservation Council” to advise on issues of conservation, wildlife enforcement and, as the Washington Post notes, the “economic benefits that result from U.S. citizens traveling abroad to hunt.”

However, given the current tumultuous political climate in Zimbabwe, advocates, like President of the Humane Society Wayne Pacelle, argued against the "pay-to-slay arrangement" between the government of Zimbabwe and trophy hunters — zeroing in on the economic and environmental intersections of this decision.

“What kind of message does it send to say to the world that poor Africans who are struggling to survive cannot kill elephants in order to use or sell their parts to make a living," Pacelle wrote, "but that it’s just fine for rich Americans to slay the beasts for their tusks to keep as trophies?”
