Bella Hadid Just Cut Her Hair & It's REALLY Short

Instead of wearing a glitter helmet or rocking a shag, Bella Hadid has changed up her 'do this time in a bit more subtle way. The 20-year-old fashion icon has traded in her shoulder-length lob for a chin-grazing bob.

Bella herself posted this mirror pic last Sunday during a trip to Greece. The soft layers and tousled texture really call attention to her features and give off that gorgeous, beach gal vibe.

A post shared by Bella Hadid (@bellahadid) on

Here's a closer look at her cut (and killer monochrome outfit).

her new hair!!! she looks so good!

Agreed, @luxyfashion, it looks so good! It seems like after the pixie cut craze a few years back, everybody is beginning to discover the magic of a good bob. Brb, booking a hair appointment.

Walmart Listed a Wig Cap with the Most Racist Product Name

If you haven't heard already, Twitter blew up in outrage yesterday after a screenshot surfaced of a racial slur featured on a listing on Walmart's website. The product in question was a wig cap produced by Jagazi Naturals, which listed the item's color as "N***er Brown".

Twitter users immediately began calling out Walmart for negligence.

Walmart has since taken the post down and released a statement of apology, adding that an investigation is under way "to determine how this could have happened.”

Unsurprisingly, it wasn't Jagazi Naturals who created the offensive listing. The brand posted a statement on its website saying, "The real JAGAZI is a 100% black company for black people. People have often used our brand name to try and sell their products. Please be aware. Very sorry for all the distress this has caused. We are feeling the pain here as well."

The question remains: who did this? It's understandable that a gargantuan company dealing with several third parties may sometimes get slack in regards to oversight, but we must ask more from a brand who's very slogan is "Live Better."

The GOP Attempts to Repeal & Replace Obamacare Have Failed...Again

It looks like the Republican health care bill is dead, folks.

President Trump and the Republican party have basically built this year on getting rid of Obamacare and replacing it with something "better." But after so many roadblocks and setbacks, there just aren't enough votes to make the bill happen.

All the Democrats voted against it (obviously), and Senators Rand Paul and Susan Collins opposed it already. But Tuesday morning, Senators Mike Lee and Jerry Moran released statements saying that they would not vote for the bill, according to The Washington Post

Ouch! That must hurt for Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, since an upset was not expected this late in the game. After the public's negative reaction to how many Americans would be uninsured under the bill, and Senator McCain's surgery, those votes would have been a huge relief for the GOP.

McConnell responded to the failed bill by saying Republicans would attempt to simply repeal Obamacare, without having a replacement plan in place. But that route also seemed destined to fail, with three Republican senators—Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska—all saying they would not vote for a repeal without a replacement, according to The New York Times. Because McConnell could only afford to lose two votes, already having three proclaimed "No"s means the bill is pretty much dead on arrival.

Oh, and POTUS isn't too happy either.

A majority is a majority, Trump. Maybe he should stop pretending that he doesn't have an advantage and own up to the fact that they're just not as unified as they thought.

Chipotle's Stock is Falling After 13 Customers Got Sick with Norovirus

You know the saying: you win some, you lose some. Just last Tuesday, Chipotle announced it would offer queso in its New York City location, and we couldn't be more thrilled for this cheesy indulgence. But today, Chipotle’s stocks fell by a whopping 7.6 percent, its worst drop in seven months, according to Market Watch and Bloomberg. So why the dip, Chipotle?

Full of bacteria is more like it. In November 2015, Chipotle temporarily shut down some of its West Coast locations after an E. coli crisis, according to PR Week. Even though it re-opened many restaurants in the spring, a Chipotle location in Massachusetts closed again in March 2016 due to norovirus. You may have forgotten about the Chipotle scare since then, but now another spate of norovirus cases has reminded us all.

A Virginia location shut down on Monday because eight customers reported illnesses on iwaspoisoned.com, and at least 13 people got sick, according to Business Insider. One customer reported that she and her son had fallen “violently ill” after eating burrito bowls. Another reported that he and his wife were “puking [their] brains out.” That certainly explains the stock thing.

Chipotle confirmed that the illness was associated with norovirus, but denied that norovirus comes from its food. Known as the winter vomiting bug, norovirus causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and fevers. Some of the ways you can get norovirus include eating contaminated foods or drinks, touching contaminated surfaces or sharing utensils with a sick person. According to Mayo Clinic, patients usually recover in two or three days, so it’s not something that people should be too worried about, except for elderly people and children. In fact, it's pretty common—about 20 million Americans get norovirus each year. That still doesn't mean I want to get sick every time I eat a delicious steak burrito, though.

After the Chipotle crisis of 2015 and 2016, the company hired Jim Marsden as the executive director of food safety. “Norovirus does not come from our food supply, and it is safe to eat at Chipotle," he said. "We are working with health authorities to understand what the cause may be and to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”

While USA Today reports that the Virginia restaurant will re-open today and the patients should be feeling better soon, Chipotle’s latest food safety scare is a little off-putting. Summer sadness is real, y’all. Is the chance to eat a brown rice burrito bowl without puking really too much to ask for?!

This Woman Left 27 Contacts In Her Eye and Didn't Even Notice

A 65-year-old woman was just about to have cataract surgery when the medical staff found a mass of 17 contacts in her eye, NPR reports.

Last November at Solihull Hospital in England, the staff was preparing to inject the woman's eye with anesthesia. The incident wasn't reported in medical journals until this week. Specialist trainee ophthalmologist, Rupal Morjaria, told Optometry Today, "All the 17 contact lenses were stuck together. We were really surprised that the patient didn’t notice it because it would cause quite a lot of irritation while it was sitting there.”

They then found 10 more loose contacts in the eye. The woman did not report any irritation to any previous doctors. How could you possibly ignore 27 contacts stuck in your eye?

"She thought her previous discomfort was just part of old age and dry eye,” Morjaria added. But when the contacts were removed, the woman said she felt a lot more comfortable. No matter what this woman says, this story is STILL unbelievable!

Her cataract surgery was rescheduled so that her eye will have a bit of time to recover. But are YOU ever going to recover from reading about this?

So Deadly Asbestos Was Just Found in a Highlighter Made for Children

Unless you’re made of steel or are a robot, we all have to be incredibly careful about what we use on our skin and put on our bodies. Going into Sephora, you might find yourself going for the organic or “green” brand, but when you walk into a kids store you shouldn’t have to worry about what’s in those products because they’re for kids! Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for the tween girls’ store, Justice.

An investigation done by a North Carolina news station, WTVD, revealed the presence of asbestos in a highlighter that Justice sold. Sean Fitzgerald, the Director of Research and Analytical Services at the Scientific Analytical Institute in Greensboro, tested the Just Shine Shimmer Powder saying, “I would treat it like a deadly poison, because it is.” He told WTVD, “What we have here is a talc that was contaminated with asbestos that was used to manufacture a product unfortunately aimed at young children. Talc is a mineral, but it also forms in the earth with other minerals and some of those minerals are asbestos.”

Asbestos is known to cause lung cancer and mesothelioma which is why the FDA prohibits the use of talc that may have been contaminated by asbestos. Fitzgerald went on to say “In this powder designed for children, they could die an untimely death in their thirties or forties because of the exposure to asbestos in this product. Children should not be allowed to breathe it. If a 10-year-old inhaled this fiber today, when he's 50 years old, it's still there.” Not only was there deadly asbestos in the highlighter, toxic barium, chromium, selenium and lead were found in the product as well.

Justice has since stopped selling the highlighter and released this statement on their Facebook page.

Checking the ingredients in products is essential and could be potentially life saving as a consumer. Be safe collegiettes!

Tabloids Are Ridiculously Publishing Nude Photos of the New Female Doctor Who

I'm super excited that Jodie Whittaker has been announced as the new doctor in the hit TV show Doctor Who. Not only is she incredibly talented, but to add to her list of accomplishments, she's the first woman to play the doctor. A step in the right direction for women in Hollywood, am I right? Well, not entirely. Of course, with one win for women comes tabloids that are ready to tear the progress down. If you thought that sexism in the entertainment industry had disappeared, think again.

According to Refinery29, a number of U.K. tabloids published articles disguised as “getting to know Jodie Whittaker” pieces that included nude photos of her (and tried to remind us she's been in sex scenes before). I'll venture to say that this wouldn't happen to a male actor. All the tabloids had to do was mention what Jodie has been in before—sex scenes and nudity are irrelevant. (And even if she did have a nude scene, what's the big deal?!)

Twitter users have had some *feelings* about the blatant sexism.

Jodie is going to kick ass in this role regardless of what tabloids publish about her. It's about time that we have a female Doctor WhoI can’t wait to see her in her newest role!

This Organization Is Helping Young People Have Respectful Conversations Across Ideological Lines

The opinions expressed in this article are the author's own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.

The news cycle in today's world seems to pass by in a blur. It's often difficult to maintain a clear perspective when so many events are happening each day, some joyous and some catastrophic. You can either choose to disengage from the system altogether—to become apathetic and live within a bubble where tragedy does not strike you—or learn how to improve it. Those who choose to live in a bubble, however, often forget that it isn't only protecting you from the "bad news" of the world. It's also trapping you.

Last summer, I attended a summer camp with over 200 international high school students. Our common ground? All of us were invested in the prosperity of our collective future, and were dedicated to determining what this future would turn out to be. To conquer such a difficult task, we turned to one of the basic yet most important tools—our words. Writing is permanent; well-articulated arguments engender thoughtful responses, continuing the debate rather than hastily ending it. A piece of writing has the power to make you stop and think. It is the manifestation of our desire to change the world, one word at a time. "Bridge the Divide," an online international collaborative forum to discuss all realms of political though, began as a conversation between two teenagers. One identified as Republican, the other as a Democrat. Yet they—and we—realized that our beliefs were rooted in contexts and stories, and that in understanding these stories, we become a little less divided. Building respect and fighting extremes is a lifelong effort. Our goal—to reduce political polarization—may have seemed utopian, but through tireless efforts, it became pragmatic. With a team of over 80 ambassadors from 27 countries, we have built a community. Whether we are sharing our views on political dilemmas (from gentrification to conservation) or learning more about each other through our recently developed pen-pal program, we are connected.

We are incredibly proud of the diversity of our articles, which range from the Lord’s Resistance Army in Africa to black carbon reduction in Asia. We wholeheartedly believe that promoting respectful conversation is the key to nurturing exploration and inquiry. Rhetoric without foundations fragments a nation, but respectful words are a step in the right direction. By creating this community, we hope to build a generation that is politically engaged and involved.

It is our time to bridge the divide. Generation Z has the ability to take advantage of our knowledge and technology platforms to empower youth across the world to improve their communities and our world. This can only happen if we work together, overcoming our differences to understand our common future. A diversity of opinions must be encouraged, rather than subdued and disdained. We hope to unite politically-active students who desire to change the world and are tolerant of politically-diverse thought. We’re looking for ambassadors from the United States and from across the world. Whether you’re a policy aficionado or rarely read the news, we believe that everybody has a story to tell. As an ambassador, you can share your op-eds on topics ranging from climate change to gun rights. You will take part in real-time conversations and discussions with students from across the world. Become an ambassador for your community today at bridge-the-divide.com or stay updated on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Dancing With the Stars judge Julianne Hough is used to the attention that comes with slaying on the dance floor, but when her new husband, Brooks Laich, caught the first glimpse of her in her wedding dress, she was the star of the show in every sense of the word.

According to Country Living, the newlyweds shared a special "first look" moment right before their wedding ceremony began, and a video from People shows the NHL player literally falling to his knees when he turns around and sees his soon-to-be wife in her wedding gown for the first time. I mean, come on. Does it get any more precious than this?! His face is absolutely priceless, and the moment is intimate and sweet.

While most of the time the wedding focus is all on the bride, this video gives us a different perspective by focusing on the groom's reaction, which completely captures the genuine love between the pair. Watch the People video below to see the special moment for yourself.

The couple wed July 8 in an outdoor ceremony at Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho with 100 of their closest family and friends in attendance. People reports that Hough chose the location because it's where she used to spend summers when she was growing up.

“When I introduced Brooks to the lake, he fell in love with this special spot, and we knew this was where we wanted to raise our family and grow old together,” Julianne told People. “It just felt right to be married here.”

The Former Dean of USC's Med School Has Been Accused of Leading a Double Life Involving Drugs

A group of people has been leading an investigation on Dr. Carmen A. Puliafito, the former dean of USC's medical school and a celebrated ophthalmologist, and none of them are police officers.

In fact, the reporters at The Los Angeles Times have tried to work with police on accusations against Puliafito, but have had little success. Monday morning, they released all the information they have on the former dean of the Keck School of Medicine at USC. Just hours after the story was published, the L.A. Times reported that Puliafito was "on leave" and "no longer seeing patients" at his eye doctor practice.

The article refers to video evidence of Puliafito taking ecstasy, methamphetamine, and heroin with a 21-year-old woman named Sarah Warren, along with other people of various ages (none of them USC students).

Warren told the L.A. Times that she was with Puliafito in a hotel in Pasadena March 2016, when she overdosed on GHB, a common date-rape drug. Their hotel room contained other various drugs, but neither was arrested. Pasadena police spokeswoman Tracey Ibarra told the L.A. Times that the police would have to determine who was responsible for the drugs before an arrest, and that no one made a health or evidence report. When they did, the Times received heavily redacted reports that listed Puliafito as a friend and witness to the overdose, nothing more.

The two returned to the hotel after Warren's recovery and continued partying.

Later that month, after an anonymous tipper contacted the police and the L.A. TImes, Puliafito stepped down from his position as dean. However, no one at USC has made any comment.

Puliafito has spoken at many USC events, and reportedly helped raise $1 billion for the university. He helped invent a laser technology that reportedly changed the way doctors treat eye disease. He has worked at other institutions, such as the University of Miami, and has a reputation for increasing the standings of schools in rankings lists. Just last June, the university held a reception in his honor, and celebrated his accomplishments.

Several others met Puliafito through Warren, and have told the L.A. Times in several interviews that they have done drugs with him either in his home or on the USC campus. Yet he is still on faculty and still takes patients as an eye doctor.

The Times reported that the anonymous witness was afraid the police wouldn't do anything, so they contacted the paper. All they want is justice.

Hopefully, this unmasking will lead the police to do a real investigation on Puliafito. The L.A. Times has done a job for the public that the police and the university were neglecting—maybe for the sake of reputation.

6 Things You Need To Think About Before You Live With Friends

$

Living with others is tough — from sharing space to paying bills, cohabitating can put a strain on any relationship. This can particularly occur when you’re living with friends, who you might love and admire but have drastically different living habits from.

This doesn’t mean, however, that you shouldn’t live with your friends or that it can’t be an amazing experience! We polled our expert collegiettes for their tips on living with your friends, and they shared with us several strategies for successful cohabitation. If you’re just considering it, or if you already reside with your pals, refer to this guide to have the best possible living experience!

1. Communication is key

Our collegiettes agree: if you’re not open and honest with your roommates, things will go downhill fast. “I’ve found that relationships are strained when friends live together because they forget to be open, and communicate honestly with one another,” says Lexi Hill, a senior at the University of South Carolina. “My advice: bring it up. If your roommate leaves dishes out and that really bothers you, send a quick text letting her know.”

It can be hard to be upfront with friends, but living together constitutes a different kind of relationship than friendship alone. “As long as you both are not short tempered and passive aggressive, everything should be fine,” says Dajin Kim, a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin. No one wants to be unhappy in their living situation, so having an open channel of comfortable communication is to everyone’s benefit.

2. Common areas require boundaries

If you’re sharing any kind of space in your living area, make sure you establish rules about cleaning and space allocation too. “I would run into the problem of running out of space, especially in the freezer, because my roommate at the time didn't want meat touching her tofu or frozen vegetarian meals,” says Stepanie Murray, a junior at Savannah College of Art and Design. “You don't have to draw a line down the middle of everything, but make sure you have your designated spaces and your friend/SO/roommate has theirs.”

3. Have a clear understanding of chores & house rules

Though it can be tough to confront because of the nature of your friendship, dividing up household chores and rules is necessary. “My belief is that we thought everything was ‘fine’ because we were friends, so boundaries weren't set in stone,” says Ashley Ortiz, a fifth-year at the University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras Campus. “I'd recommend talking about likes or dislikes while sharing a place, food arrangements, who's going to pay for what and some house rules.”

Remember that living with another person means you have to take their living preferences into account — it simply isn’t the same as being on your own. “I've watched friendships suffer because one (or both) are bad roommates,” says Hannah McConnaughey, a junior at the University of Washington. “Never taking your turn buying toilet paper or dish soap might not seem like a big deal, but it sends a bigger message about how considerate you are of other people — especially if those people are the friends you live with!”

“What worked best for me was having a conversation about ground rules in the very beginning–whether this was discussing normal sleep times, guest expectations, cleanliness, etc.,” says Lauren Lee, a junior at Phillips Academy Andover. “And once my roommate seemed to be straying from these expectations, or I had other worries, I was upfront with her.” Everything comes down to you addressing issues head on. Otherwise, people are passive-aggressive and there’s constant tension, and no one wants that!

4. Overlapping friend groups can be good or bad

If you and your friend share a common friend group, there are plusses and minuses to that situation too. “Your social circles most likely overlap, so having friends over is no big deal,” Lexi says. “You’re able to plan going out easier and there’s more trust there — your roommates become an extended version of your family.”

On the other hand, having that much of your lives shared could eventually be detrimental to your friendship and living situation. “I currently room with my best friend and this is our second year rooming together,” Dajin says. “We have never had any real issues but I think the main reason is because we usually do our own thing.”

You don’t want to get isolated from other friendships or life commitments if you and your friend/roommate spend all your time together. “If you room with someone in your same friend group in which y'all end up hanging out and doing everything together, that can cause problems,” Dajin says. “Spending too much time with someone almost always causes issues.” There’s nothing wrong with wanting — or needing — to take some time away from a person.

RELATED: 6 Ways to Make Moving Less Painful

5. Conversations about money need to happen

Talking about bills and finances can be tense, but it’s absolutely necessary to maintain a home or apartment. “When living with friends, rent and bills come before your friendship,” says Stephanie. “My first off-campus roommate over-drafted her bank account by $2000 a few months into living together. This made me uneasy in the months following our lease. Needless to say, our friendship is no longer and she ended up moving out.” Ideally, you and whoever you’re living with are fiscally responsible, but again, it’s another conversation that needs to happen — hopefully before you move in with the person!

Living with someone means taking their finances into consideration as well — you aren’t managing their bank account, but you are in a situation where there is a mutual responsibility to timely bill payments and contributing to shared household items like cleaning supplies.

“Remember, each of you are paying (or should pay) the same amount of rent so you're entitled to voice whatever is making you uncomfortable before it's too late,” says Ashley. When it comes down to it, you need to put your financial well-being before your friendship, and your friend/roommate should understand that and feel the same way.

6. Living habits can differ from friendship habits

Living with your friend likely was or will be a huge wakeup call for both of you. “Your friend thinks she knows you well, but you may have personal pet peeves or sleeping rituals that are important to share with her once she becomes your roommate!” Lauren says. You might have spent tons of time together and been incredibly close before living together, but sharing a living space will likely transform your relationship — hopefully in good ways! Again, living with a friend constitutes an entirely different situation than friendship alone.

Your experience living with your friend doesn’t have to include any horror stories as long as you remember these guidelines. There will undoubtedly be stressful moments, but there are ways to remedy them.

“Good friends don't always make good roommates, but when you're lucky it's like having a sleepover every single night,” Hannah says. Here’s hoping everyone is very lucky!

The First Trailer for Bachelor in Paradise Season 4 Is Here & It's... Interesting

In case you've been wondering whether Bachelor in Paradise was going to ignore that possible sexual incident between Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson, which halted filming back in June, your answer is here. It turns out that the show is embracing the whole thing - and it's not pretty.

In an exclusive, People released BIP's first trailer for season four, and let's just say that the show isn't exactly trying to hide from the controversy.

The trailer opens with a voiceover saying, "The sun had almost set. Summer was almost ruined. Paradise was almost lost," and features footage of a tropical storm and a woman's scream thrown in for good measure. Tweets of despair from fans upon finding out the show had stopped production fly up on the screeen. The narrator continues, "Until it wasn’t," and a contestant is shown yelling in agreement, "Paradise is back!" Suddenly, everything is fine again and the show is back to its regular shots of scenic beach footage, complete with overjoyed tweets from contestants about the show's announcement that season four would continue.

It's truly, um, interesting - especially because it's not exactly like the cancellation of a reality show is the worst possible thing that could result from alleged sexual assault.

Fans are taking notice too, and some took to Twitter to call the show out on what they felt was a tone-deaf trailer.

Season four premieres August 14th so we'll just have to wait and see if the actual show is as cringe-y as the trailer - but things aren't off to a great start.

17 Things Lazy Girls Hate About First Dates

$

0

First dates are stressful for literallyeveryone. For lazy girls, they're extra stressful. We actually have to get out of our comfy spot on the couch and socialize in the outside world. The first anything is always ambiguous, so there's no way that a lazy chick can formulate a hack to make an easy connection with someone on the first date (unless of course, the rest of you lazy girls know something that I don't—in which case, help a gal out).

Unless your first date includes ordering a pizza and watching a movie with your boo, there are plenty of things that lazy girls hate about first dates (and getting ready for them). Here are 17 of them.

1. You have to set 20 alarms just to make sure you wake up from your midday nap

Seriously, this whole date thing is interrupting your precious snooze time. Ugh, so inconvenient.

2. Then you actually have to leave your bed

Why couldn’t you just go on a Netflix-and-nap date? The struggle is real.

3. And shower

It isn’t even your scheduled day to wash your hair!

4. And actually think about what you’re going to wear

Rather than just throwing on any old T-shirt and sweats.

5. You just realized that you don’t have any clean clothes

How can it be time to do laundry already? You just did it, like, three weeks ago. Time to get creative with the outfit.

6. You keep checking your phone to see if they cancel last minute

Sure, you’d have a bruised ego for a hot minute, but you’d ultimately be relieved because canceled plans = relaxation.

7. You just hate going through so much work getting ready for only a few hours of fun

Three words: Cost benefit analysis.

8. And you know the chances of it working out are slim, so why bother?

I could just not.

9. It'll probably start out super awkward since you're always running a few minutes late

In your defense, you were just procrastinating leaving the house. After all, what lazy girl likes going through the hassle of opening her bedroom door, much less driving?

10. You have to refrain from talking with food in your mouth

Because that’s rude or gross or whatever, which is completely unfair because you love to multitask. Plus, what kind of person asks you about your job while you’re shoving pasta in your mouth?

11. You actually have to think about interesting things to say about yourself…

This usually comes after the dreaded question, “What do you like to do for fun?” And you have to figure out a way to make sleeping, eating and watching TV sound enthralling.

12. …so you contemplate just staying single

After all, if you stay single, you don’t have to go places and do things—well, other than those pesky things called work and class.

13. You get freaked out by serious conversations…

Yeah, asking about your childhood and what you wanna do in the future might seem like normal questions to ask on the first date, but now you have to spend time actually talking. You definitely dig small talk more.

14. …except, you sort of hate small talk, too

Because now you have to find a way to make your day seem interesting. Online shopping definitely counts as business development, right?

15. You realize just how uncomfortable wearing a bra is

Seriously, why did you choose to wear a bra for this date? Oh right, because you don’t want them to stare at your chest all night.

16. You know they'll want to continue hanging out after dinner

But this date has been like a whole hour and you just want to put on your comfy yoga pants already.

17. That weird goodbye limbo takes so much energy

https://giphy.com/gifs/viceprincipals-hbo-vice-principals-d31xun9bu1FachdS/

Granted, who actually likes this part of a first date? You’re both getting ready to say goodbye, but you both linger to see what the other person is going to do. Are they going to kiss you? Should you hug them? Should you shake their hand? No, that’s weird. Definitely weird. This whole process takes up way too much of your valuable Instagram time.

Trump and Putin Had a Second Conversation at the G-20 Summit & There's No White House Record of It

In addition to their first formal meeting at the same gathering of world leaders at the Group 20 Summit, President Trump and Vladimir Putin had a second private conversation at a dinner that night - and there is no official United States record of it, The New York Times reports.

The conversation between the two reportedly lasted more than an hour, and only adds to existing questions surrounding the Trump administration's relationship with Russia. According to the Washington Post, Trump got up midway through the meal to sit next to Putin, and they spoke with others present in the room, but with no one in earshot other than Putin's official interpreter.

White House aides were apparently only informed of the meeting by Trump himself, and anonymous White House officials only just confirmed on Tuesday that the meeting took place - offering no additional details about it, the Times says.

"We’re all going to be wondering what was said, and that’s where it’s unfortunate that there was no U.S. interpreter, because there is no independent American account of what happened,” Stephen Pifer, a former ambassador to the Ukraine, told the Times. "If I was in the Kremlin, my recommendation to Putin would be, ‘See if you can get this guy alone,’ and that’s what it sounds like he was able to do."

As the White House continues to be under investigation for possible ties to Russia during the 2016 election, this meeting - and the fact that there's no record of it - isn't exactly a good look.

ICYMI, Texas is currently in the process of trying to pass a 'bathroom bill' similar to one in North Carolina that legally requires transgender people to use the bathroom that corresponds with the biological sex listed on their birth certificates - but one Texas transgender woman just nailed everything that's wrong with 'bathroom laws' like these with one simple photo.

Cosmoplitan says Ashley Smith took to Facebook to share a photo of her with Texas governor Greg Abbott, who is a major supporter of SB 2, the bill that would make it illegal for her to use the restroom that matches her gender identity. She captioned the photo, "How will the Potty Police know I'm transgender if the Governor doesn't?" DAYUM GIRL.

Her post has been shared over 2,000 times and proves an important point: it makes absolutely zero sense for trans people to use any bathroom other that the one they feel comfortable using based on their gender identity.

"Sometimes it's not really apparent who transgender people are," Smith told CNN. "We're just regular folks."

And seriously, the bottom line: is it even anyone's business which bathroom someone chooses to use? There are better things for lawmakers to be worrying about right now.

5 Things That Don’t Matter on Your College Applications

Your college application should showcase your best qualities as a well-rounded, open-minded student. With that in mind, it might be tempting to crowd your application with everything under the sun that you’ve been involved with. Unfortunately, that strategy is usually counterintuitive. For the best chance at acceptance, you have to prioritize and choose the parts of your life that your prospective college will be the most interested in. We’ve talked to college counselors and collegiettes around the country to bring you a comprehensive listof what not to include on your college applications—as well as some advice on what is appropriate to submit.

1. Don’t include: Anything from before high school

Unless you did something truly exceptional in your formative years, like starting a charity in elementary school or performing at Carnegie Hall in middle school, you don’t need to include any achievements from before high school. An easy way to clean up your college application is to remove outdated information that does not reflect the person you are now, such as old grades or minor awards.

Sarah Duffy, a senior at Trinity College, notes that your most recent activities are the most appealing to colleges. “I was always told not to include activities/experiences that occurred prior to high school, or even before sophomore year,” she says. “Colleges are much more interested in the stuff you’re currently doing!”

Do include:Activities from ninth grade and beyond

Colleges are typically interested with your activities starting with ninth grade. If you started an activity in middle school and continued it through high school, it should be okay to include—as long as it’s still relevant to your life. If you’re not sure about a specific activity, don’t be afraid to shoot your college counselor an e-mail. They are there to answer your questions!

2. Don’t include: Unnecessarily big words

It might be tempting to use fancy words to make yourself look smart, but if you wouldn’t normally use it in writing or conversation, it’s not a good idea. College admissions committees have read thousands of applications—hence, they can tell when you’re faking your image. It’s good to have a large vocabulary that you can use naturally, but if you don’t, make sure you don’t force it.

Anna Ivey, founder of Expert Admissions Consulting and former Dean of Admissions at University of Chicago Law School, notes that big words don’t benefit you and can even hurt your chances of being admitted. “Big words don’t help you, so use them in moderation, if at all,” she says. “Admissions officers appreciate clear, direct writing. Precision matters, though. Is the word you’re choosing the perfect one for what you’re trying to convey? You’re applying to college, so you’re expected to have a good grasp of vocabulary. There’s no need to get fancy just for the sake of being fancy, though. That usually just makes your writing worse, not better.”

Do include: Concise, accurate wording

Ivey reminds you to choose the right word, not the big word. Keep that in mind when you’re writing your essays.

3. Don’t include: Leisure activities

If you enjoy knitting in your spare time, that’s great. But unless you’ve taken initiative and started a knitting club, or donated your knitted socks to a charity, it’s just not important enough to include on your college application. You need to choose activities that showcase your best qualities, which should include more than simple participation.

Do include: The Core Four

Anna Ivey gives you important criteria on how to pick the activities that matter. “Try to pick activities that demonstrate one or more of the Core Four: Passion, Talent, Initiative, and Impact,” she says. “Just signing up for activities, or just showing up, doesn’t count for much. Continuity helps, too. If it’s an activity you suddenly picked up right before you applied, that’s a bit transparent.”

Keep the Core Four that Ivey mentions in mind when you’re picking activities to include. That way, you’re putting your best foot forward. If you’re applying to a special programat a university, you may need to alter your activities list to fit the qualities that the program is looking for. For example, if it’s a vocal technique program, you don’t want to fill your resume with awards from science fairs. Similarly, if it’s an engineering program, you don’t want to include an audio file of your musical theatre performance.

4. Don’t include: Too many personal details

Context is important. If you’re working two part-time jobs while attending high school to help support your family, you might not have as many extracurricular activities as other potential applicants. Colleges need to have that context so they don’t write you off without understanding your circumstances beforehand. Despite that, there is a point where personal detail is simply too much. Unfortunately, a bad break-up can’t excuse you from a lack of extracurriculars or poor grades. You need to determine how much context is too much.

Do include: Appropriate personal information

Ivey shares her tips on deciding how much personal information to include. “It’s fine to include personal and sensitive details in applications if it gives the rest of your application context,” she says. “That includes tricky family situations like illness, divorce, or drug problems and recovery. Everything you submit is confidential, and admissions officers have seen it all. You won’t shock them. Don’t treat your application as therapy, though. The key question is always: does this give my academics, accomplishments, or activities important context? Will an admissions officer be missing an important part of my story without this information? This is about context; you don’t get extra points just because you suffered in some way and someone else didn’t.”

Be mindful of how much sensitive information you include in an application. As Ivey says, don’t do it for “extra points,” but to frame your image and activities with necessary context. If you’re not exactly sure what that means for your personal situation, talk with a guidance counselor at your high school. They can give you an answer that’s tailored to you.

Rachna Shah, a freshman at Dartmouth College, notes that your family should not be the star of your application. “While your family may be inspirational and motivating for you, make sure that your college application focuses on you and the image you want yourself to be represented as,” she says. In other words, you can include personal information about your family situation, but be sure that your application always comes back to yourself and what you have done. In this scenario, it’s okay to be selfish!

5. Don’t include: Too many extra materials

Often, college applications will have an area to submit extra materials that you’d like the admissions officers to see. It can be difficult to understand what colleges are looking for in this section. While your first instinct might be to upload every certificate you’ve ever gotten, hold yourself back.

Do include: Extra materials that add depth and value

If you do use the extra materials section, you should have a good reason. Ivey notes that extra materials should showcase talent. “If you’re on the fence about whether to submit extra materials, don’t,” she says. “Extra materials are meant to showcase truly exceptional talents. It can be hard to gauge that when you’re seventeen, so you might need to get an outside opinion (who is not your mom). You’re better off getting honest advice before you submit.”

If you’d like to include your art portfolio in your application, for example, ask your art teacher or another person knowledgeable in the field if your work is qualified enough for the school you’re applying to. In short, only use the extra materials section if you have a talent that’s central to your personal image and that admissions officers need to see to understand you.

Take all these tips to make your college applications as strong as possible. Good luck, collegiettes!

5 Ways to Boost Your Energy Without Caffeine

As college students, many of us often find ourselves crawling out of bed to our coffee pots, stopping by the nearest café in between classes for a much-needed espresso or surrounding ourselves in the library with a cluster of empty paper cups. However, this wild coffee dependency may not be doing us much good (no matter how enticing that cappuccino looks). Here are some ways to bring up your energy level without indulging your caffeine addiction.

1. Water, water, water

Swap out your morning Starbucks for a refreshing glass of H20. The water will not only keep you hydrated, but also kick-start your energy by delivering a surge of oxygen to your system.

“Your body is about 60-70% water, so dehydration can make you feel fatigued,” says Christina Chiu, dietitian at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

“I drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated throughout the day,” says Kayla Lewkowicz, a recent grad working at a Cambridge start-up. “You really have to listen to your body!”

Wellness expert Peggy Hall recommends that you add fruit slices to your water. “When you put in the slice of fruit, all of the vitamins and minerals that are in the fruit—in terms of your electrolytes like sodium and potassium that keep you hydrated—all of those are going be absorbed in the water,” says Hall. “Now when you’re drinking the water, you’re hydrating yourself better so your brain is going to work better.” Keep chugging that water all day to boost your energy. Your body, your mind and your wallet will thank you.

2. Straighten up, brighten up

Whether you are working at a desk job or studying at your dorm room desk, hunching over a table can be incredibly draining.

Surprisingly enough, just the way you are sitting can determine how energized you are. “You need to sit up straight,” says Hall. “Sitting hunched over is going to zap your energy. You can’t breathe because the lungs are collapsed.” It’s time to make perfect posture a priority.

The light coming from your desk lamp may also be contributing to your midday yawns. According to Hall, compact fluorescent light (CFL) gives off an undetectable flickering. “It’s fatiguing to the eyes and fatiguing to the brain,” she says. Replace the bulb with an LED and feel much more awake!

3. Smart snacking

When the late afternoon rolls around and you start to fade, many turn to a snack for a caffeine-free boost. However, munching on chips or high-sugar granola bars won’t give you a sustainable, filling source of energy.

“Pair carbohydrates with protein when you eat,” says Chiu. “Putting protein together with a carb ensures that you not only get energy after eating but that it will still be there to sustain you a few hours later.”

“I make peanut butter energy bites that I refrigerate and take to work. It's honey, peanut butter, flax seeds and chocolate chips, rolled in oats,” says Alaina Leary, a graduate student at Emerson College. “I bring them to the office and eat them when I'm tired.”

Sydnee Lyons, a second year graduate student at Florida Atlantic University, notes that the first meal of the day is the key to her energy upkeep. “What's really been working is having a good breakfast before I do anything else,” she says. “I usually have oatmeal or toast, with a homemade fruit bowl and smoothie on the side.”

Hall suggests a nutrition-packed smoothie. “The green smoothie is my number one go-to for energy throughout the day,” she says. “Anything that’s green that you eat is full of oxygen in the form of chlorophyll…it’s basically stored energy.”

4. Catch some ZzZs

Being the busy collegiettes that we are, getting a good night’s sleep isn’t always an option. When you feel your eyes getting drooping in the late afternoon, opt for a quick midday nap.

“Generally less than 45 minutes is suggested [for a nap],” says Chiu. “This provides your brain the rest it needs to spring back into action. Longer naps will make you more tired because of the different stage of sleep you’ll be waking up from.

“I'm lucky enough to work at a company that encourages quick naps if that's what you need,” says Kayla. “I take advantage of [them] usually once a week.”

5. Get moving

Although it’s pretty counterintuitive, the reason you are exhausted AF could actually be because you haven’t gotten your blood flowing in hours.

“Getting up and taking a walk always helps! It gets your energy flowing and refreshes you,” says Rachel Petty, a senior at James Madison University. Alaina agrees, saying, “I recommend taking a walk, especially if you can get outside even for 15-20 minutes.”

“Energy production involves the mitochondria in your body,” says Chiu. “Getting more exercise sends signals to your body to make more mitochondria, which in turn helps your body make more energy.” She recommends heading outside, as sunshine is known to boost serotonin, your body’s natural happy hormone.

The next time you find yourself reaching for the coffee pot, try out these some of these natural tips to pump up your energy. You may be able to finally say goodbye to long lines waiting for a double espresso and caffeine-withdrawal headaches!

Huw Collins on 'Pretty Little Liars'& What He's Doing to End Smoking

You probably know Huw Collins as Archer Dunhill on Pretty Little Liars. You know, Alison's crazy husband who tortured her and ended up through the windshield of a car Hanna was driving? Archer caused a whole lot of trouble in his time on the Freeform series, so when I got the chance to ask Huw about playing the villain, joining the show during its final episodes and truth, an organization that's working to end smoking for good, I didn't hesitate.

What was it like to work on the final season of Pretty Little Liars? Did you like playing a villain?

Huw Collins: It was pretty wild to enter such an established and well-known world. It felt like everyone (whether they were an avid watcher or not) knew of the show. My wife Molly, incidentally, was a big fan of it right up until the point when I joined the show…but then she stopped watching! Rude! I was really lucky that I was already friends with Ian Harding before joining; that helped me get the inside track on the workings of everything, and they were all very, very welcoming! As for playing the villain, as a man with a British accent who can raise a single eyebrow at will, it was an opportunity I approached with extreme relish! I had a lot of fun with it!

What did you think of the series finale and the A.D. reveal?

HC: I thought it was excellent that the creative team and the rest of the cast took big risks and avoided playing it safe. It can be a distinct trap to feel the pressure of seven seasons and not want to upset anyone or be too divisive in the final throes, but I felt like they took great gambles, tied up some storylines and overall made it a really fun couple of hours to end the show. Special mention to Troian Bellisario who knocked it out of the park. She is so talented, and it was hard not to feel intense pride at her performance on both a professional and personal level. [The Only Way Is Essex] Troian was epic.

Did you ever think you were A.D.? And when did you actually find out who A.D. was?

HC: I didn't think I was ever A.D. (although technically Archer Dunhill will forever be A.D. in a literal sense…), and I am also glad I wasn't. I don't think it would have been the right move for Archer to be the big bad, for a multitude of reasons. I think his impact and story was a very important one to the show, and I am proud of that, but he served the bigger story overall rather than being the bigger story.

I found out at the final table read. The script was top secret, of course, so once Troian started talking in an Essex accent, I did somewhat splutter on my coffee.

The cast of PLL seems like one big family off-screen. What was that like to experience?

HC: I think it could have been very daunting to enter into had they not been as welcoming. No one likes to feel like the new kid in school, but it's a testament to the cast and the crew that I didn't feel like that for one second. The little section of the lot we shot on at Warner Brothers came to feel like home, and it was certainly hard to leave behind. You come to realize it's not just the job you'll miss, but [not] seeing these great people every day is a tough adjustment.

However, in an effort to extend our time together, I just announced I'm organizing a convention in Manchester, England in Feb. 2018—so I think myself and a few buddies from the show will be able to enjoy a little PLL-on-tour time in Europe, which will be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet the stupendous fans of the show.

What can you tell us about truth?

HC: truth is a superb campaign that is making such a difference to young people's lives. Their impact on lowering tobacco use since inception has been profound. The way truth approaches the topic is so admirable. It is not about "good vs. bad," being judgy or preachy, or leading with scare tactics; it is about sharing the facts and empowering everyone to use their creativity to make positive change. That's one of the big reasons I am so willing to do whatever I can to help them because I think their mission to encourage this generation to be the ONE to end smoking in teens is incredible, but at the same time, in the current climate of divisive and caustic methods to gain an advantage in your pursuit of a goal, they do not. They use the facts and that is needed now more than ever. I hope it encourages others, especially young people, to join the movement.

How did you get involved with truth?

HC: I got involved with truth because a friend of mine encouraged me to get involved. I was doing a pre-Christmas Twitter giveaway, and I wanted there to be a deeper meaning than simple material indulgence—truth was the perfect partner. I have never smoked, and as an ex-professional athlete, I have always been fortunate enough to lead a healthy lifestyle without thinking too much about it. I want others to have the same opportunity. In this time of social media, everyone has the opportunity to positively influence others, and I feel an onus to use mine for good. truth is the perfect partner for that.

These 'Gilmore Girls' Stars Accidentally Reunited While on Vacation, & I Am Loving It

After binge-watching the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life revival last Thanksgiving, it seemed like we might never see the cast reunited again. Luckily for us, a crazy coincidence brought former costars Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James, and Yanic Truesdale, who played Michel Gerard, back together on Tuesday. The selfie they took to commemorate the occasion is SO adorable.

"I love when this happens! By coincidence, we both booked a vacation at the same time in Greece!" Truesdale captioned the photo, tagging McCarthy. I couldn't agree more with the magical timing hashtag—is this a good omen for the very preliminary talks Netflix is having about another season of Gilmore Girls? I can only hope.

Truesdale's Gilmore Girls character Michel was not exactly warm toward Sookie when they worked together at the Independence Inn and the Dragonfly Inn. However, it's clear from the two's ear-to-ear smiles that all their drama was scripted. With the beautiful Greek beach in the background, this post is, as one user commented, "pure Instagram gold."

Truesdale was having a very Gilmore Girls vacation already, as he took to Instagram to gush over the book written by his other costar, Lauren Graham, who starred as Lorelai Gilmore on the show.

"Catching up on my reading in Greece," his caption reads. "At last a vacation! Proud of my friend Lauren for her funny and entertaining new book!"

I love that the Gilmore Girls cast members are friends on-screen and off-. #SquadGoals AF
