Here's Why Katy Perry Is Suddenly Speaking Out About Her Feud With Taylor Swift

Katy Perry’s speaking out about speaking out. While doing the customary TV, magazine, and radio interviews to promote her new album, Witness, Katy Perry has been candid in describing her feud with fellow popstar Taylor Swift. From an interview with Sirius XM to a visit to Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, she has not held back about the incident, which apparently began when her backup dancers were fired from Taylor's tour for wanting to join Katy's.

"I tried to do the right thing, the good thing,"she said on SiriusXM. "And, you know, she shut me down and wrote a song."

In another interview with NME, Perry explained exactly why she has been so open. “Well, James Corden makes me and the whole world feel very safe,” Perry told the British magazine. “No one has asked me about my side of the story, and there are three sides of every story: one, two, and the truth.”

Tomorrow's NME magazine: we meet Katy Perry, the world's most famous woman

“I mean, I’m not Buddha—things irritate me,” she continued. “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]. That’s so messed up!”

Hey, we’re all for hearing both sides of a story. On Carpool Karaoke, Katy said that she would "take the beef off the grill" (James' words) if Taylor were to apologize. Developments!

How to Make the Most of Your Summer If You're Staying On Campus

At the height of the finals week frenzy, you probably swore that when all the studying and exams were over you would grab your favorite snack, curl up in your bed and binge-watch your favorite show for the rest of the summer. That might be an ideal plan during the semester when there are a million things to do and you just want to relax, but during the summer your free time is endless and so are your possibilities for fun—even if you are stuck on campus. If you’re living on campus for the summer, you might have a “been there, done that” attitude, but we promise that there is way more to your campus than the inside of your dorm room. Instead of making your weekly trip to the closest Starbucks or grabbing lunch at your usual favorite place, try these six tips for making the most of your summer on campus.

1. Get an HGTV degree

All year you have been staring at the same four walls and, to be honest, it’s probably getting a bit old. You may have to stay in the same room this summer, but it certainly does not have to look the same. Whether you want to make the room look as good as new or do a complete HGTV-worthy renovation, a room makeover is the perfect way to keep yourself busy and productive.

If you’re living by yourself, your room redo process can be as creative (and messy) as you want. “I am obsessed with Pinterest, but I never have time to try out any of the cool ideas during the school year because I am so busy,” says Kerry Moore, a junior at the University of South Carolina. “When I found myself with an abundance of free time and an empty room, I thought that it was the perfect opportunity to try something new with my room and take on a Pinterest project.”

Pinterest is one of the best places to go if you are looking for an artsy décor project. A DIY project will ensure that you are entertained for at least a little while and as an added bonus you will have fabulous new surroundings!

2. Commit to be fit

It is common for collegiettes to make a New Year’s resolution to work out more or to eat better. It is also common for collegiettes to break said resolutions by January 2nd. What better time to rededicate yourself to your goal than this summer? Take advantage of the beautiful weather that summer has to offer and encourage yourself to be a healthier you!

Since it’s summer, it is very likely that the gym on your campus will not be packed with people. That means less sweaty individuals making the machines equally sweaty—and more of an opportunity for you to commit to be fit.

"During the year, I make a habit of going to gym for classes at least a couple times a week even when it gets crowded,” says Amanda Hurt, a junior at the University of South Carolina. “I love knowing that during the summer, even though no classes are offered, I will have my choice of equipment and a lot less people to worry about.”

Even if your gym is closed, there are still so many alternatives to help you stay active. YouTube fitness sensation Cassey Ho has hundreds of exercises that you can do from the comfort of your dorm room. Instagram fitness gurus like Hannah Bronfman have entire blogs devoted to helping you eat great and feel great. Take this summer to finally get your health routine on point!

3. Learn more and explore

Unless you go to a very small school, there are probably portions of your campus that you have yet to explore. It might be more comfortable to go the Starbucks where the barista knows your name and order, but what’s the fun in that when you have a (basically) empty campus at your fingertips? Go check out the mom-and-pop coffeehouse that your friend told you about or find a vintage store downtown.

You can even make a game out of your adventures. “Our school has a ‘bucket list’ of things for students to do before they graduate,” says Annie Nyguen, a junior at Indiana University. “My friends who stayed on campus made a goal to go to every place on the list and we almost did! It was surprisingly fun and kept us busy all summer.”

Christine Burney, a senior at the Savannah College of Art and Design, suggests checking out local apps that keep you updated on events in your immediate area. “Designate a day and set it aside to explore new things. Scoutmob is a great app for finding interesting food and other event offers in cities,” she says.

Sometimes it is easy to forget why you love your school so much when you’re two pages deep into a 10 page paper. Take this opportunity to remind yourself why you fell in love with your college in the first place.

4. Make your own bucket list

Not every school has a bucket list of things that students should try to do before they graduate, but that doesn’t mean that you should miss out on the fun! Start off by listing anything and everything that you have wanted to see or do on campus but just have never had the chance. Then, ask your friends if they have any suggestions of fun things that they have done on or around campus. Finally, check your college’s website to see if they have any “musts” that new students should check out when they are considering attending the college. Even though you might not be a new student, there might still be some places that you haven’t checked out yet.

Brooklynn Kramer, a senior at Ohio University, found that creating her own bucket list has provided endless entertainment. “I have explored the surrounding areas of Athens, Ohio. I went to a local winery, tried a few new places to eat and went to our closest lake for the sunset. I made a summer bucket list to make sure I stay busy and have a great time!”

Making a bucket list is a great way to turn an overwhelming amount of options into a fun challenge to see just how many items you can cross off this summer. You might just surprise yourself with how much you haven’t seen on your campus!

5. Meet and greet

As tempting as it might be to spend your Friday nights Skyping with your friends, actual human interaction can be fun as well (hear us out). At first, it can be a bit scary to branch out, but there are probably so many other students on campus who are in the same situation as you and are looking to meet some new people. Besides, who doesn’t want a summer squad?

If you are tech savvy, try reaching out to other students on campus by posting a message on your university’s Facebook page. For those who are a bit bolder, go chat up the cutie sitting alone outside the library or go knock on some doors in your dorm to get a feel for who is still on campus.

Having people to spend the summer with will ensure that you have a blast. Bring on the movie marathons and late-night talks!

6. Land a job or internship

In the incredibly motivational words of Rihanna, “Work, work, work, work, work.” If all else fails, find yourself a job or an internship doing something that you love! Why shouldn’t you do everything you can to land your dream internship this summer? Not only will it keep you busy, but it will look amazing on your resume. Plus, who can possibly turn down a little extra cash when summer fashion is to die for?

Try to find out if your school has an online database for on-campus job or internship positions and start your search there. With a lot of students being gone for the summer, buildings that are still active usually need a little extra help. If you aren’t interested in an on-campus position, try searching the internet for internship positions nearby or checking with your school’s career center to see if there are any available positions that would be a great fit for you.

“Last summer I lived on campus because I had some classes to knock out in order to graduate on time,” says Angeline Bernabe, a senior at California State University. “Since I go to school in Los Angeles, I made the most of my time by interning for a news station. I also took advantage of the cool summer events happening around the city.”

Living on campus isn’t necessarily the most fun way to spend summer vacation, but there are definitely ways to make the most of the situation. Although binge-watching an entire series in a week is an admirable feat, these tips just might help you have a summer that is worth leaving your laptop behind.

James Comey Says He Documented His Meetings with Trump Because He Thought the President Might Lie

On Thursday, former FBI Director James Comey testified in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee about the events leading up to his firing. He was able to give detailed accounts of his meetings with President Trump, because he said he had written memos of each meeting directly after every one. When asked why he decided to document these meetings so closely, Comey said it was due to the “nature of the person," meaning Trump.

Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee Mark Warner, a Republican from Virginia, asked Comey to explain his careful documentation on Thursday, according to Talking Points Memo.

“A combination of things,” Comey said. “I think the circumstances, the subject matter and the person I was interacting with.”

And what were these circumstances Comey spoke of?

“Circumstances: First, I was alone with the president of the United States, or the president-elect, soon to be president,” Comey said. “The subject matter: I was talking about matters that touch on the FBI’s core responsibility and that relate to the president-elect personally. And then the nature of the person. I was honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature of our meeting, and so I thought it was really important to document. That combination of things I had never experienced before, but it led me to believe I got to write it down, and I got to write it down in a very detailed way.”

Vox reports Comey began writing down his interactions with Trump after a meeting with him at Trump Tower on January 6.

In Comey’s prepared opening statement for the Senate Intelligence Committee, he said, “I felt compelled to document my first conversation with the president-elect in a memo. To ensure accuracy, I began to type it on a laptop in an FBI vehicle outside Trump Tower the moment I walked out of the meeting.”

It's still surprising to hear the former FBI director say he thinks the president is a liar, but Comey is totally justified in thinking that—and it's helpful for all of us that he kept such good records of his meetings with Trump.

Senator John McCain's Questions For James Comey Made Literally No Sense

Former FBI Director James Comey, who you're probably tired of hearing about, testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday morning. One of the most bizarre parts of an already intriguing story was Senator John McCain's exchange with Comey—an exchange that made literally no sense. Sen. McCain seemed to focus his line of questioning on former Secretary Hillary Clinton, and why she has not been investigated as well with regards to Russia. But it was hard to tell if this was really his point, as you can see in the video below.

McCain seemed very confused about why Clinton's investigation has ended but "Trump's investigation" is ongoing. The cry of "but her emails!" lives on, even during testimony that isn't about Clinton at all.

Comey stressed that the investigation into Clinton's emails had been closed, and that Clinton would not be charged. In reference to the Russia investigation, however, Comey said "the investigation was still going when I was fired," and that as far as he knows, "it is still going." Note that the Clinton email investigation and the Russia investigation are not at all related—which Sen. McCain couldn't seem to get.

With obvious attitude, Sen. McCain replied, "I'm glad that you completed that part of the investigation, but the American people have a whole lot of questions since you just emphasized the role the Russia played," referencing the Russia investigation. It was unclear if he understood that the Russia investigation is about the election as a whole, not just about Trump. He also didn't seem to get that it would be very unlikely for Clinton to help the Russians sabotage her own presidential run, which is why she's not a focus of the investigation.

"In other words, we’re complete, the investigation of anything former Secretary Clinton had to do with the campaign is over, and we don’t have to worry about it anymore?” Sen. McCain asked.

Um...the investigation was about the use of a private email server when she was secretary of state, not when she was a presidential canddiate. What is he talking about? Comey didn't seem to know, saying, "I'm a little confused, Senator."

"So both President Trump, and former candidate Clinton are both involved in the investigation, yet one of them, you said, there's gonna be no charges and one of them the investigation continues. I think there's a double standard here," Sen. McCain said. But there really isn't a double standard...because the two candidates were involved in two completely different investigations. Sen. McCain just seems very, very confused, and Twitter definitely took notice.

But now, Sen. McCain has issued a statement explaining that his questions just "went over people's heads," and that he "shouldn't stay up late watching the Diamondbacks night games." What he wanted to do, he said, was to point out that during the Clinton investigation, Comey stepped outside the usual boundaries of his job to say that "no reasonable prosecutor" would choose to charge her. Because of this precedent, McCain thought Comey should also be able to say whether Trump's actions could be seen as obstruction of justice.

Well, maybe that's what he meant to say, but that's not how his questioning came out at all—and it kind of seemed like more was going on than just being tired from a late-night baseball game. Hopefully McCain gets some rest before his next moment in the spotlight.

Ryan From 'The OC' Just Got Married

Let the wedding bells ring. Gotham co-stars Benjamin McKenzie and Morena Baccarin just got married! The couple said "I do" on June 2, which happens to be the beautiful bride's birthday too. Though the co-stars have been together since 2015 and have a daughter, they had only been engaged for seven months. The wedding took place at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in New York and I'm sure it was breathtaking.

The celebration was small and private according to People, with only close friends and family in attendance. Though I'm sure you can imagine how wonderful their wedding day probably was, it wasn't exactly love at first sight. McKenzie actually forgot that he met Baccarin for the first time when she was on set for The OC. Ouch. "I apparently blew her off," McKenzie told James Corden on The Late Late Show. "So I'm thinking, what kind of idiot would blow off this gorgeous, beautiful, sophisticated, intelligent, successful woman?' Then I thought of what kind of boy I was at 25, and [I was] that kind of idiot."

Aww, well I'm glad he woke up and saw that she was the one for him. Here's to the adorable couple and their little family—congratulations!

Selena Gomez Basically Wore a Plastic Apron to The Weeknd's Concert & Still Looked Super Hot

Selena Gomez finally revealed for sure that she and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd are dating (as if we didn't already know, Sel). The pop icon reportedly let it slip to a friend that she was on her way to her "boyfriend's" concert in New York. While you were aww-ing over that adorable piece of news, you might not have noticed Selena's outfit of choice for her beau's show. It was an interesting choice, but as the queen of style, she rocked it, I tell you.

A post shared by Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) on

Layered on top of a Hess red/white tee, Selena wore a patent-leather apron dress by Alexa Chung. To complete the look, she kept it casual and flirty with a pair of white sneakers, a high ponytail, and a serious cat-eye. I mean, while this flashy ensemble might not be for everyone, it's actually kind of the perfect look for going out to a concert or having a night on the town with friends. It's cute, trendy, and looks hella comfy. Selena, you did it again, girl. Teach me your ways.

Bella Hadid & Justin Bieber Pretty Much Just Wore the Same Outfit

Step aside, Mary-Kate and Ashley, 'cause Bella Hadid and Justin Bieber are the new (accidental) twins in town. Style twins, that is. Both the model and singer were photographed wearing almost the exact same outfit, give or take a few minor tweaks. The pièce de résistance? A pair of red plaid shorts from Off White that honestly look like something that came out of my dad's closet. But of course, these two managed to pull them off quite well.

Justin took the comfy, casual road, styling his shorts with a plain white tee and white sneakers. Looks a bit like me on a lazy day!

Bella, on the other hand, put a high-class spin on her look, wearing a fluffy white sweater complete with black heels and two bags. Leave it to her to make anything look good.

If you're looking to rock the same style as Bel & the Biebs, I'd suggest searching around your (or your parental unit's) closet. Personally, I'd be happy as a clam à la Justin's laid-back look, but what about you, collegiettes? Would you wear these shorts, or are they too much?

Camila Cabello's Updo for Her New Music Video Looks Impossible to Recreate

It's no secret that former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello's hair is goals. Her hairstyles are usually easy to imitate, as she sticks to ponytails and beach waves, but her new hairdo doesn't seem that easy at all. The style, which was created by celebrated hairstylist Sarah Potempa for Camila's latest music video shoot in Miami, incorporates "texture, volume, and bangs."

As Teen Vogue points out, the 'do seems to defy all the laws of gravity, being both messy and structured. The back of Camila's hair is puffed up to extremes, before ending in a pony. I'm not sure what kind of magic this is, because that definitely looks like it should flop all the way down from the weight of the hair. Is there some sort of device holding up the style? IS IT CGI? Guess we'll never know.

Before honoring Kyra with an award at the 18th annual Designing Women Awards, Amy shared the impact that her makeup artist has had on her life. "The truth is Kyra changed how I feel about myself," Amy said. "Going to shoot Trainwreck, I had never been in a movie before. Playing the romantic lead that the guy is supposed to fall in love with, I didn’t know if I had a place there and if I had a right to be playing this woman.

Schumer credited Panchenko with making her feek beautiful and helping her let go of her doubts. "Kyra, she really had my back," Amy said. "Her words and her actions made me not only feel confident, but I felt really beautiful in that movie, and I still looked like myself.” In true Amy fashion, she concluded, "I love you, bitch! You know I love you."

This is so sweet and so relatable—you can always count on a good friend to make you feel confident... not to mention a bit of makeup!

Uber Fired a Senior Executive Over His Handling of a Rape Case in India

Content warning: sexual assault & rape mentions

Uber announced Wednesday that it had fired senior executive Eric Alexander amidst an ongoing investigation of the rape of a passenger by her Uber driver in Delhi, India. According to The New York Times, Alexander was not on any sort of watch list to be terminated, but after he “obtained the medical records” of the woman involved in the case and it began to seek media coverage of them, the company had to take action.

“Both Travis Kalanick, Uber’s chief executive, and Emil Michael, the company’s senior vice president of business, had read and discussed the woman’s medical records with Mr. Alexander at length,” according to The New York Times. For some reason these men didn’t find their actions heinous in this instance. What did they have to gain exactly by seeing those records?

Alexander apparently thought the rape case was just a ploy by a competitor to ruin Uber’s business in India. “[Alexander] was let go only after reporters asked Uber about his actions, despite several high-level executives having knowledge of the matter,” The New York Times reports. And people think that rape culture is a doesn’t exist.

It seems the transportation and food delivery titan is constantly in the news these days—and never for good reasons. Just yesterday, news broke that 20 people at Uber had been fired as a result of a wider investigation of company practice with regard to sexual assault.

The week before, a teenage girl stabbed her Uber driver to death in Illinois, and earlier this year CEO Travis Kalanick had to cancel plans to become one of President Donald Trump’s economic advisers after #DeleteUber trended on social media.

I personally deleted my Uber app after the Trump situation. I’m a devoted Lyft user now, and there are plenty of alternatives — consider moving your hard-earned money to Safr, a ridesharing company “built for and powered by women” or Moovn, a black-owned transportation service.

Hailey Baldwin Slipped Back Into the '90s With This Outfit

Hailey Baldwin stepped out in yet another drool-worthy look as she headed to an IMG Model party in Hollywood this week. The model is known for her street style, always pairing unique pieces to create the ensemble of our dreams. This time, she wore a completely monochromatic look in a bold pink hue, serving some real nineties vibes.

Perhaps the inspiration came from Cher, the classic style icon from Clueless? If so, Hailey definitely did the trend justice!

Keeping up with current trends, Baldwin paired her silk mini with a textured pony and gold hoops—so gorgeous! The leggy model, who was out with Cameron Dallas, rocked this amazing outfit with a pair of Jimmy Choo satin platform sandals.

Her layered silk shirt complemented her outfit well, adding a more casual feel to the already bold look. Monochromatic ensembles are not only a major trend right now, but they are also so easy to style and require minimal (insanely frustrating) outfit planning. You've probably fallen in love with this look by now, so shop some similar pieces below!

Mischa Barton Won a Sex Tape Case Against Her Ex

$

On Monday, former OC actress Mischa Barton left the Los Angeles Superior Court with a personal and lawful win: her ex-boyfriend, Jon Zacharias, was banned from publicly releasing explicit photos or videos of Barton, according to The Los Angeles Times.

It has been a difficult year for Barton. In January, Los Angeles police responded to a call about a disturbance in the actress' West Hollywood apartment. Although she was "fully clothed" and "coherent," the 31-year-old actress was hospitalized that day. She discussed this incident on the Dr. Phil Show in April.

Then came the sex tap rumors in March, when Barton immediately hired a lawyer before anything escalated.

After this week's court case, Barton’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, said in a statement, “Today we have won an important agreement, which permanently blocks the dissemination of these images. All explicit photos and videos of Mischa must be handed over to me immediately. Her ex must stay 100 yards away from her today, tomorrow and forever. And the court will retain jurisdiction over the case in case we need further enforcement.”

Bloom continued, “I am proud to declare victory for Mischa. She did this not just for herself, but for all women and girls. Mischa wants everyone to know that we have the right to control our own bodies and decide whether or not to have explicit photos out there for the world to see. If a woman wants to do that, fine. If she doesn’t, fine. The choice is hers and hers alone.”

It seems shocking that there should even be a question as to whether or not someone else can distribute explicit material without the subject's consent. We're thankful for Mischa's victory.

What To Change If You're Hitting The Gym & Seeing No Results

$

You’ve been going to the gym for weeks; running on the treadmill, riding the stationary bike, lifting weights – it’s all hard work, but it’s supposed to be worth it, right?. Yes, the right workout routine can help you look and feel better. Taking charge of your health is empowering, but what happens if it feels like you’re doing everything right and still aren’t seeing any results? We’re here to help!

Try a different machine

The same old routine can be boring. Most gyms have a wide variety of machines – cardio, weight-training, flexion machines, etc. – that you can learn to use. If you feel stuck on the elliptical, try switching over to the bench or deadlifts. There are many excellent tips for beginners!

Related: 7 Last-Minute Exercises to Get Fit for Spring Break

Once you know the proper way to do it, get out there and go for it!

If you are using machines, it’s helpful to do something that makes the time go by faster. If you are on a cardio machine, you can try watching TV. If you are invested in the story, you might workout harder. If TV isn’t working for you, try listening to music. You can make a playlist or find one online.

Or, you can ditch machines altogether! There are so many other ways to exercise. Here are a few examples:

  • Try squats! You can do these anywhere, and they’re a great way to build and tone leg muscles.
  • Take a dance class! Whether its Zumba, Vixen or another fitness class, dancing is a great way to have fun and burn calories at the same time.
  • Yoga. It might just look like stretching, but it can do a lot more. Yoga increases flexibility, reduces weight, and increases muscle strength and tone. You’ll also learn mindfulness skills that can carry over into other aspects of your life.

Try going to the gym at different times during the day to see when you have the most energy. Some people wake up feeling energized, but others like to get their day going before they head to the gym.

You also might want to consider talking to a personal trainer at the gym. They will have more knowledge and information on specific workouts that match your goal. If you feel stuck, ask! That’s what they’re there for.

For visible results, athletic trainer Angie Fernandez suggests High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts, in which intense bouts of work are followed by short periods of rest, combined with steady state workouts, such as elliptical or treadmill training. “The steady state workout helps increase blood flow to damaged muscle tissues and boost your recovery,” she says. “So it is important not to neglect steady state workouts."

Fernandez also stresses the importance of healthy eating. “You can’t out-exercise a bad diet,” she says.

Look for results in a different way

If you’re not seeing results on the scale, try taking measurements instead. Muscle might be adding weight. However, scales and measurements are not always the best indicators of progress. Fernandez also cites increased energy levels, more restful sleep, and better moods as good measures of progress.

Change your diet

Most of the time, going to the gym alone won’t get you to your goal without being supplemented with a healthy diet.

“For an optimal workout, you want your muscles to be fueled!” says registered dietitian Kelly LeSage.  “Besides eating at least three balanced meals per day, you may benefit from having a nutrient dense carbohydrate paired with a small amount of protein a few hours before your workout, like fruit and plain Greek yogurt.” She also suggests trying a nutrient-dense carbohydrate right before your workout, like a banana.

Don’t skip meals! It might seem like skipping breakfast could lead to weight loss, but breakfast gets your metabolism going, helps you focus, and helps you make healthier eating choices throughout the day. Registered dietitian Ashley Bailey says that skipping meals cause lower energy, which can make you tired, irritable, and much more likely to overeat at the next meal. “Regular meals and snacks provide your body with a steady supply of nutrients and energy,” she says, “which will help reduce cravings, better manage portions, and boost energy levels.”

You also want to make sure that your diet is the right diet. It’s important to eat lots of lean protein and cut down on carbs. It can be helpful to meet with a nutritionist. They know fascinating details and tips about calories, cholesterol and fats that can keep your body from reacting to your exercise routine the way you’d like. You can take the tips you learn to bring a healthy meal to the next event you attend!

Try starting a food journal. Writing in a cute journal can be a fun way to track the types of food you eat and look for trends. You can also use the journal to plan healthy meals and snacks. If you’re not the journaling type, try an app. MyFitnessPal is a great one, but there are plenty of options to help you track your diet and exercise.

It is important to keep healthy foods in the fridge. It’s easy to just grab a bag of chips when you’re hungry. Rachna Shah, a sophomore at Dartmouth, suggests almonds and yogurt or fat-free string cheese, while Cara Milhaven, a junior at Villanova, enjoys almonds with fruit or a few slices of cheese with dried crackers.

Reevaluate your goal

If your goal is to go from a size ten to a size six or to lose 25 pounds in two weeks, then that’s not a realistic goal. It’s not very healthy, either. Bailey, MS, RDN, LDN recommends losing approximately one to two pounds per week for safe, sustained weight loss.

You might want to try breaking down your ultimate goal into smaller, more manageable goals, like how many times you want to work out a week.

Get a workout buddy

It might be more fun for you to work out with a friend. Also, it makes it harder to bail on your gym plans if someone is counting on you to be there with them.

Are you a competitive person? If so, turn your workouts into a friendly competition with your friends or yourself. How many miles did you run? Pounds did you lift? Laps did you swim? Set up a fun night to reveal the big winner. Maybe everyone could even bring a healthy dish to share.

Make sure to stay focused on your goals, though! While it can be fun to exercise with a friend, make sure you aren’t spending all your time talking to them instead of focusing on your workout.

Be patient

Don’t be too hard on yourself! Weight loss and muscle building take time, and you’re not going to see results immediately. Also, make sure you aren’t over-exercising or taking on unhealthy eating habits. The goal is to be healthy and fit.

And just when you think you have tried every possible suggestion, one day you might step on the scale or slip back into an old favorite pair of jeans, and all of your hard work will have been worth it. Be persistent. Results take time, but they can be incredibly rewarding.

Lauren Bushnell Says She Didn't Really Want to do 'Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?'

When Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell called off their relationship last month, many fans of The Bachelor franchise weren't exactly surprised. And now, People reports that Lauren thinks their spinoff show, Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?, could have been a contributing factor in their breakup ––a show she was hesitant about to begin with.

“I didn’t really want to do it, to be honest,” Lauren told People. “I wanted to move on with our life and just have a moment that was just about us."

Lauren said the show seriously affected her relationship with Ben. “I was like, ‘I can still do it. There’s so much love there for one another. If I can get through The Bachelor, I can get through this no problem — at least we get to spend time together,’" she said. "But that was a really high-stress situation. I didn’t feel like I got the support that I needed when we were filming that — just from everyone.”

Lauren told the magazine she felt like she couldn't move forward from the memory of Ben telling her and JoJo Fletcher that he loved them during his season of The Bachelor. And who can't sympathize with her?

“I felt like we were stuck in this place that happened seven months ago that I was trying to move forward from,” she said. “There were certain situations I didn’t want to continue talking about. I understand people want to know these answers, but at the same time I really wanted to make this relationship work.”

Regardless, Lauren put on a brave face and tried to stick through it for her relationship. Ultimately, though, things just didn't work out.

“Looking back, I wish I could be like, ‘That’s why it didn’t work out’ — but I think it was just a very abnormal situation and one that unfortunately [didn’t work out]," she said. "I mean, we tried. We went to couples counseling. We continued that after the show and I went to personal counseling. I feel like we gave it everything we could, just at the end of the day, it didn’t feel right anymore.”

We wish nothing but the best for both Lauren and Ben in the future.

Barack Obama Wore the Same Tuxedo for Eight Years Without Anyone Noticing

Barack and Michelle Obama are famous for many things, and one of those things is their ability to look impeccable, well, always. Apparently, though, it hasn't taken much effort on the former president's end. According to the former first lady, former President Obama wore the same tuxedo through his two full terms in office. The best (and most hilarious) part is nobody noticed.

At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference on Tuesday, E! News reports Michelle told a crowd, "That's the unfair thing. No matter what we do, he puts on that same tux."

"Now, people take pictures of the shoes I wear, the bracelets, the necklace — they didn't comment that for eight years, he wore that same tux, same shoes," she said. "He was proud of it too, he was like, 'Mm! I'm ready. I'm ready in ten minutes. Mmm ––how long did it take you?'"

Michelle, who has become a major fashion icon over the years, acknowledged the blatant difference in coverage of men's and women's fashion. According to E! News, at the event, she referenced the fact that everything she wore was heavily reported on. Meanwhile, no one ever even realized the former POTUS was in the exact same outfit at every black tie event.

Regardless of what Barack or Michelle Obama did or didn't wear, we have to say it: both of them sure know how to look #flawless.

I Tried Microblading & Here's What Happened

When my editor approached me about testing out microblading for a story, I was a bit hesitant. Voluntarily adding more hair to my face? Doesn't sound particularly enticing. Since I was a kid, I have had fuller than full eyebrows, and at one point even got bullied for it. I mean, what fourth grader wants brows that basically take over her face? So from elementary school on, I would constantly beg my mom to take me to get waxed, to thin out my animal-like face hairs (see exhibit A below).

Using my eyebrows to my advantage as a cat on Halloween.

Luckily, over time I began to love my full brows as women like Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins took center stage in the world of beauty. Instead of overplucking, I began to grow out my naturally thick dark brows and embrace them. But as you can guess, the damage was still done from years of trying to have thin brows. When looking for a solution, I could either continue to fill in my brows every day or I could try the trend that is flooding the internet right now: microblading.

For those of you who don't know, microblading is basically an eyebrow tattoo that lasts up to three years. According to Kendra Bray of Better Brows in NYC, microblading is a form of a tattoo whereby the pigment is implanted under your skin with a handheld knife. During the two hour process, the artist draws every individual hair-like stroke on the brows in order to create the most natural shape.

Upon arriving at the appointment, Kendra sat me down and asked me what I was looking for in my brows. Because my brows were already pretty bold, I just wanted a few places filled in and evened out from my days of over plucking. After we made a plan for my brows, she spent about 20 minutes measuring them in order to make sure everything was symmetrical (you can check that out on Facebook live).

After the measuring process, she first applied a numbing cream that had to sit for about 30 minutes in order to soak in. I mean, she was about to cut into my brows, so I wasn't going to object to a bit of cream to help. As I sat and waited for the cream to work its magic, Kendra told me that she was going to make tiny incisions in my brows, creating the hair strokes that she would then fill in with ink. Once my brows were fully numb, it was time to begin.

Since most people ask whether or not the process hurts, the short answer is "no." Instead of pain, what bothered me was the sound of the knife scraping the skin. Very unpleasant. But once all the cuts were done and the ink was applied, there was barely any pain.

The best part about microblading is that there really isn't any recovery time before they look good. Right after the appointment, I went to another event and my brows looked as if I had perfected them with makeup. There was no redness or irritation. That being said, there is still a bit of healing time. For about ten days after the appointment, you are not allowed to get your brows wet, as it is an open wound. You want it to heal and scab, so that involves keeping your brows as dry as possible. For some people, the scabs are noticeable but I barely could tell. At around the three-week mark, my brows were almost fully healed and they were a tad itchy but besides that, they looked great and felt great.

Before and after, respectively. Plus a bit of summer sun.

At the touch-up after the fourth week, Kendra went back in to add a few hair strokes where there were empty spots. Overall, the entire process took around two hours from start to finish. The downside? The cosmetic procedure is a bit pricey. Depending on where you go, prices can range from $600 to $900 just for the first session. Just like a tattoo, it is an investment and you do not want to cheap out on it, especially because it's on your face. But once the two appointments are done, your brows are perfect for up to three years. What could be better?

Rihanna Took a Trip to Malawi to Advocate for Better Education

It's no secret that Rihanna is absolutely perfect. Yet, the songstress and humanitarian just solidified our faith in her yet again thanks to this Youtube video released by Global Citizen highlighting her trip to Malawi in January. The purpose of the trip was to learn more about education in Malawi, which Rihanna did by spending time with a group of students, teaching them math, reading with them, and leading them in chants.

Rihanna is the founder of the Clara Lionel Foundation, which partnered with Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education to advocate for the improvement of education in the world's poorest communities. Time reports the purpose of the trip was to help convince world leaders to commit $3.1 billion to funding the Global Partnership for Education.

In the video, Rihanna talks about the large number of students who don't make it to secondary school in Malawi. "It's such a pity that they have to drop out, because they are so smart," she said. "Everybody's learning together, and learning at the same pace it seems. It's sad that has to end for some of them, because they could probably do so much if they had the resources to continue and complete."

The Global Partnership for Education hopes to reach its $3.1 billion goal between 2018 and 2020

21 Things No One Told You Would Happen in College

College was our Barbie Dream House, that thing we always worked towards and saw as the moment our real lives would begin. So far, college has been the most amazing time of our lives, but there were definitely a few things people forgot to mention. Here's what nobody told you would happen in college:

1. Poverty. Endless poverty.

2. The “easiest” college classes actually require a ton of effort, and everyone was lying to you.

3. You’re going to blow most of your money on late night snacks.

4. You will begin to find it perfectly acceptable to binge-watch nine seasons of a show during a semester…or maybe just a few weeks…days?

5. No matter how strong your alcohol tolerance is, you’re going to throw up sometimes. Just accept it.

6. Casually dropping 200+ dollars on a textbook.

7. Painfully dropping 400+ dollars on a textbook––that your professor wrote.

8. You’re 100 percent going to gain somewhere between 10 and 30 lbs.

9. Every few weeks you’ll consider going vegan because all your friends are doing it.

10. You’re going to live with at least one psycho roommate, but odds are it will probably happen more than once.

11. Your best thinking happens at 2 a.m.

12. Halfway through your freshman year you start to actually enjoy talking to your mom on the phone.

13. You will see hot people EVERYWHERE!

14. But not get to date any of them.

15. You’re going to alternate between completely letting yourself go and then spending four hours plucking your eyebrows to perfection.

16. There will always be a large, strange smelling pile of dirty dishes in your sink.

17. Having a car sets you up to be a perfect freshman slave to your upperclassmen friends.

18. Going to class is actually considered cool, and being friends with your professor is even cooler.

19. Interestingly enough, the library can be a terrible place to study because all your friends are there and quiet hours don't really exist.

20. Did we mention poverty?

21. Oh yeah, and fire drills still happen.
