Jake Gyllenhaal FaceTimed Ryan Reynolds & Baby Ines on 'Late Night'& It Was the Cutest Thing Ever

On Thursday's episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jake Gyllenhaal FaceTimed Ryan Reynolds after Seth expressed disbelief that the two stars were friends.

Meyers actually happened to be backstage when Reynolds called back, but the audience got a kick out of it. Ryan seemed to enjoy the surprise call too and flipped the camera to show the audience he was taking his and Blake Lively's baby, Ines, for a walk: "Here's what I'm doing—pushing baby strollers," he said.

Could there be a more adorable bromance?

6 Last-Minute Tips to Improve Your Grades This Semester

$

For many college students, as the midway point in the semester approaches, things may begin to slip—your motivation, your diet and your grades. Do you find yourself dreaming of summer instead of studying for a big exam? Do you feel hopeless AF about your extremely challenging economics class? Are you stressed about your grades in general and in need of some help? Look no further, collegiettes. We’ve consulted with Jennifer Carroll, an academic advisor in the Center for Academic Advising & Professional Development at Temple University, in order to get some last-minute tips for saving your grades this semester.

1. Reach out to your professor

First and foremost, when you are struggling with your grade in a class, you should always reach out to the professor. Even if you believe there is little they can do to help, in most cases, just the fact that you made the effort to reach out to them will show them that you care.

"Meeting with an instructor will give the student a real sense of how they are doing in the course and if there will be opportunities for them to bring their grade up before the end of the semester," Jennifer says. "Also, going to see a professor during office hours signals to a professor that the student cares and is really invested in doing well. When they see an investment on the part of the student, there may be more of a willingness to provide additional support that may help the student improve their grade." Jennifer strongly encourages communicating with your professor.

For Rachel Petty, a junior at James Madison University, reaching out to the instructor is a necessary first step in improving your grades. “I would always recommend talking to the professor,” she says. “Oftentimes, they’ll offer you an extra credit opportunity or award you points for participation. It doesn’t hurt!”

2. Communicate with your classmates

Whether you want to form a study group, find an in-class partner or create a great connection with one of your peers, getting in touch with your classmates is always a good idea—especially when you are struggling in a class. Most of the time, if one student is having difficulty, so are several others. So, don’t be afraid to vocalize your issues and seek help from your fellow students.

In the technological age, communicating with your classmates is easier than ever before. For Sydnee Lyons, a grad student at Florida Atlantic University, the Internet is a great way to interact with (and learn from) her peers. “Posting and replying to posts by others on the class Wiki or discussion board is often a good way to boost your participation grade,” she says. “It’s something that you can really do at any point in the semester––even just posting online resources you think would be helpful for others.” According to Sydnee, this comes with an added bonus: professors will usually factor in your online participation into your overall participation grade.

If your class doesn't have an online option for connecting with other students, Jennifer recommends going the old-fashioned route and putting together a study group.

3. Cut down on your other responsibilities

The difficulty of balancing all of life's responsibilities—work, internships, extracurriculars and more—with a full course load is an understandable struggle for many collegiettes. According to Jennifer, responsibilities outside of school often add additional stress to a student and may impact his or her ability to focus on academics and grades. While it is important to support yourself through college, Jennifer recommends being realistic about how much you can handle and having an honest conversation with your supervisor or boss (depending on the situation).

She also notes that it is important to have a game plan before you request a conversation. "They need to be clear about what it is that they are asking for," she says. "If it’s time off or less hours, how long will they need this allowance? The plan needs to be realistic and one that they will be able to manage. If additional adjustments need to be made, they need to communicate that to their supervisor before they enter crisis mode." You should always try to handle the situation before it gets unmanageable!

4. Utilize your on-campus resources

This is one option that many students fail to take advantage of. Almost all college campuses have a multitude of resource centers that have workers specifically hired to help you—the student!

An advising office is a great resource for a struggling college student. If you have reached out to your professor about your grades but have had difficulty getting the response you were hoping for, you should always seek out the help of an academic adviser on campus. "Advising offices have relationships with departments and can provide the student with additional supports should the situation need to go to a department chair or grievance officer," Jennifer says.

Additionally, if you find that you are having anxieties or negative feelings associated with a certain class, you should address the issue as soon as possible. "If a student has a sense that they will struggle with a course, they should seek help early in the semester," Jennifer says. "If they have an anxiety about a course even after seeking academic supports, they may want to consider seeking additional support through the counseling center on their campus."

If you find yourself struggling as the semester progresses, we highly recommend doing some research on the resources built around you (literally). Trust us, both your grades and your stress levels will thank you!

5. Consider withdrawing from the class

Withdrawing from a class is a pretty cringe-worthy idea, we know, but it is an important option to consider if you are in a really bad situation.

"If a student is still struggling after pursuing [the other options mentioned], I will often encourage the student to withdraw from the course if the withdraw deadline has not already passed," Jennifer says. But, what if the deadline has already passed? "If the withdraw deadline has passed, the student should consult with an academic advisor about other options that may be available to them on their campus," she adds.

If you are pretty much positive that you are going to fail one (or more) of your classes this semester, planning for academic recovery in future semesters is a vital next step. "If a student fails a course or multiple courses, it’s important that they see an academic advisor to discuss the best approach for academic recovery," Jennifer says. "They should also see a financial aid advisor to determine how repeating a course would impact their eligibility for financial aid in future semesters." It is crucial to set smart and realistic semester plans going forward.

6. Designate time to de-stress

Stress has never yielded positive results, so don’t let it make a bad situation feel even worse. While it is important to work hard and go after your goals, it is equally as important to designate some time to do the things you love. The happier you are, the more motivated you will become! Look at things in a positive light—hey, summer is almost here after all—and power through the last half of the semester. Your mind, body, soul AND grades will thank you for it.

I Want Meredith to Be with Riggs on 'Grey's Anatomy'—Here's Why

Okay, I know what you're thinking: Derek and Meredith will always be together. Nobody can replace Derek and what they had. Normally, I would agree with you, but this time it's different.

Meredith knows that nobody will ever be able to replace the love of her life and father of her children. She struggled a long time trying to accept his death and mourn the loss of the amazing Dr. Derek Shepherd. (We all did, tbh.) But in my opinion, Meredith has been sad long enough, and it's time for her to move on. Although she has accepted the idea of being a single, full-time working mother, she knows that she can't put her kids through growing up without a father figure in their lives.

Believe it or not, I've been a fan of Riggs ever since he came to the hospital. Once the show introduced the possibility of Meredith and Riggs happening, I got super excited because I know that Meredith deserves someone amazing in her life. Even though Riggs and Owen have that tense history, I do think that Riggs is a good man and would be a good father to Meredith's kids.

Throughout Season 13, Riggs has been trying to ask Meredith out, and she's been so unsure about what to do. He knows that she's still mourning the loss of Derek and he respects that. Because of that, he has never pushed her into anything. During Thursday's episode of Grey's Anatomy,  Meredith finally said yes to dinner with him, and honestly, I screamed a little bit. The idea that these two are going to be able to finally go on a real date, and not just hang out in the hospital, makes me so incredibly happy.

The chemistry is just insane between them, and they would be absolutely crazy not to try dating each other. Ever since viewers saw them share a passionate kiss early in the season, we've all been pretty excited about this sure-to-be steamy romance. I can't speak for all Grey's fans, but I do know this fan is definitely willing to give these two a shot. And I honestly can't wait.

A Former UC Berkeley Student Says a Professor Groped Her & Watched Porn at Work

A former University of California, Berkeley, student filed a lawsuit Tuesday against a distinguished philosophy professor, claiming the professor groped her and fired her for declining his advances.

The former student, Joanna Ong, 24, worked for Professor John R. Searle, 84, as a research associate and is seeking damages for sexual harassment and assault, wrongful termination and creation of a hostile work environment, BuzzFeed News reports.

Ong reported in the complaint that during her employment, Searle allegedly asked her to log into a “Sugar Baby, Sugar Daddy” website for him and watched pornography right in front of her.

The Los Angeles Times reports the lawsuit also alleges university officials mishandled the sexual misconduct accusations.

“My client had to suffer twice,” John Kristensen, Ong’s attorney, said in a press release. “First, when the assault and subsequent harassment took place. Then again when she reported the misconduct and the responses were, at best, indifference, and, at worst, enabling of the inappropriate sexual conduct that led to her original assault.”

Ong says that UC Berkeley made no effort to look into her complaint after she reported the sexual misconduct and harassment to university employees. Rather than helping her, Ong alleged that the university tried to cover up Searle’s actions and even cut her pay by 50 percent without any reason, according to theThe Daily Californian.

“As a philosopher, Searle should be familiar with the concept of coercion,” Ong told BuzzFeed News. She said that Searle and the university “used their power and platform to abuse others."

In March, Searle stepped down from teaching but he still has emeritus status at the school, according to BuzzFeed News. He declined to comment, reports The Daily Californian.

UC Berkeley said in a statement that the university hadn't received a copy of the lawsuit and could not comment due to “privacy laws and university policy,” according to the LA Times.

Uhh, There's Something Really Fishy About the 'Pitch Perfect 3' Sailor Costumes

Our favorite singing collegiettes are returning as sassy a cappella singers in Pitch Perfect 3 this year. What's not so pleasing is the fact that different cast members are wearing different costumes depending on their body size.

Pitch Perfect 3 began filming in January 2017 and is winding down its filming in Atlanta. Enter: Rebel Wilson, who plays our hero Fat Amy, the hilarious mermaid dancer and horizontal running fanatic.

Wilson posted a photo on Instagram on Friday alongside her costars Brittany Snow and Chrissie Fit. What we're assuming is an on-set photo features the Barden Bella singers in red-and-white striped outfits. They're totally cute and have me wondering what songs their sailor-themed performance will include (I can already hear DNCE's "Cake by the Ocean").

But the bigger question is: why is Wilson wearing short sleeves while her costars don halter tops that show off more skin?

Sailing through the day #PitchPerfect3

Ester Dean, who plays Cynthia-Rose, also posted the same outfits on Instagram. And guess what? This plus-sized actress is also the only one in the photo with short sleeves instead of bare shoulders.

New Bella look at Averee!!!

A post shared by Ester Dean (@esterdean) on

Uhh, what are you trying to pull, Pitch Perfect? For a franchise that's all about girl power, collegiette bonding and acceptance of misfits, it's pretty insulting that the costumes are different for the larger ladies in the cast. We would have loved to see Cynthia-Rose and Fat Amy embrace their curves and wear the same sexy outfits as everyone else.

Perhaps it was a personal choice by Dean and Wilson, but it'd be pretty suspicious if the costume designers actually changed the sailor gettups to hide these actresses' arms and backs—not to mention this qualifies as active body-shaming. Talk about aca-awkward.

A White Man Went to New York to Kill Black Men &'Make a Statement'

A Maryland man turned himself in for the fatal stabbing of a man he came across on the street. He told police that he had traveled to New York specifically to kill black men.

28-year-old James Harris Jackson has been charged with the murder of Timothy Caughman, 66, according to The Washington Post. On Monday, Jackson ran into Caughman around 11 p.m. and stabbed him several times with a 26-inch sword. Caughman went to a police precinct for help and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, but he died there due to his injuries.

Jackson told police he killed Caughman because of his race and that the killing was "practice," according to CNN. He also said he was planning to kill more black men at Times Square.

Police say that Jackson's attack was strategically calculated to get attention. “The reason why he picked New York is [because] it’s the media capital of the world,” Assistant Chief of the NYPD William Aubry said.  “And he wanted to make a statement.”

Jackson is a Baltimore resident and military veteran. He served in the army for over three years and also worked as a military intelligence analyst, according to the Post.

“Based on statements that he made as well as a preliminary review of video, it reveals that the attack on Timothy Caughman was clearly racially motivated,” Aubry said. “It’s well over 10 years that he’s been harboring these feelings of hate towards male blacks,” Aubry added.

Caughman lived in a transitional house. According to his Twitter, he was a music and movie lover and autograph collector who tweeted about John Lennon, Chuck Berry and visiting California, NBC New York reports.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio called the hate crime "more than an unspeakable human tragedy” that was "an assault" on the city’s inclusiveness and diversity. “Now it’s our collective responsibility to speak clearly and forcefully in the face of intolerance and violence—here or across the country,” Mayor de Blasio said. “We are a safe city because we are inclusive. We are a nation of unrivaled strength because we are diverse. No act of violence can undermine who we are.”

The GOP Has Failed to Repeal & Replace Obamacare After Canceled Vote

Thought today’s scheduled vote on the American Health Care Act would be a step towards resolving the United States’s ongoing health care drama? Think again.

After a contentious debate on Friday afternoon, the GOP canceled the vote on their proposed healthcare legislation to replace Obamacare.

According to The Washington Post, President Trump issued an ultimatum to lawmakers yesterday urging them to pass the bill—but without success, apparently. Just as the House readied to vote at 3:30 p.m., it was announced that Congress would recess. Then, in a closed-door meeting, House Speaker Paul Ryan told Republicans that the vote was a no-go. The New York Times reports that the meeting only lasted five minutes and there are “no plans” for trying to pass the legislation again.

The GOP’s failure to gather votes for the bill contrasts President Trump’s self-advertised reputation as a dealmaker. It also marks the Trump administration’s first 100 days in office with yet another failure in fulfilling the president's campaign promises. As one reporter for The Hill said via Twitter:

In a press conference following the abrupt cancellation, Ryan called the decision to pull the vote from the House a "setback." He added that, despite seven years of promising to repeal President Obama's signature bill, "We're going to be living with Obamacare for the forseeable future."

Before the vote was scheduled to occur, things weren’t looking great for the GOP bill’s supporters. Republicans could only afford to lose 22 votes on the American Health Care Act. But just before the cancellation was announced, The Hill projected that 36 House Republicans would vote no.

Pulling the vote acknowledges that the bill was doomed for defeat, and that the Republicans had not made a significant alternative for the Affordable Care Act.

So far, President Trump has not tweeted about the bill’s postponement—but he already blamed Democrats for the bill’s flop in a phone interview.

On the other side of the aisle, Democrats can be expected to celebrate the temporary preservation of the Affordable Care Act through today’s events. Representative Mark Walker, a Republican from North Carolina, told The Hill that “this is probably a good moment for [Democrats]. The champagne that wasn’t popped back in November may be utilized this evening.”

Talk about a "yuge" fail for the GOP.

Internet Service Providers May Be Allowed to Collect & Sell Personal Information Without Asking Your Permission

Privacy on the internet just took a serious hit. Yesterday, the Senate voted to repeal broadband privacy rules that protected internet users from ISPs. According to Techcrunch, the FCC rule severely limited how much private information ISPs could collect from you, but after a 50 to 48 vote in the Senate, that probably will not be in the case anymore.

“If signed by the President, this law would repeal the FCC’s widely-supported broadband privacy framework, and eliminate the requirement that cable and broadband providers offer customers a choice before selling their sensitive, personal information," said FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn in a statement.

The resolution was proposed using the Congressional Review Act (CRA), which the GOP is using to repeal federal regulations that they contested late in Obama’s presidency. In other words, the Republicans have the House and Congress, and they’re using that to take away important protections from people, like the right to not have your personal information sold to advertisers and to keep your private information private.

There’s no telling how much personal information ISPs will be able to collect and sell to third parties without consent. The list is just beginning at location, financial, healthcare and browsing data, according to BGR. And the worse part is, since the resolution was proposed using the CRA, once the repeal is signed by Trump (which is very likely), the FCC will be outlawed from creating similar privacy regulations. Once we lose it, it’s gone.

Chalk up one more victory for the Trump Administration and one more loss for consumers.

Rick Perry Wrote a Needless Tirade Against the Gay Student Body President at Texas A&M

Texas A&M University recently elected their first openly gay student body president—Bobby Brooks. Rick Perry, the former Republican governor of Texas and current head of the Department of Energy, also attended Texas A&M (40 years ago) and thus felt compelled to comment on the news, according to The Slot.

Brooks was elected after the first-place winner of the student elections, Robert McIntosh, received 14 accusations of voter intimidation and was charged with failing to document the purchase of glow sticks he used in a campaign video. “All of these decisions were made by their fellow students, who serve on a judicial court for student body government conflicts,” according to The Slot.

In an op-ed for The Houston Chronicle published Wednesday, Perry criticized the election process and those who carried it out for not respecting the true nature of diversity. “Every Aggie [student at Texas A&M] ought to ask themselves: How would they act and feel if the victim was different?”

By conveniently swapping out a number of marginalized social identities that Perry seemingly thinks are interchangeable, Perry exposes his complete lack of awareness of the systemic prejudices faced by LGBTQ+ people, people of color, and people of different ability, class and educational background.

In the piece, titled “Did A&M shun due process in the name of ‘diversity’?,” Perry claims to have been impressed and humbled upon hearing the news that Brooks was elected. “I viewed it as a testament to the Aggie character. I was proud of our students because the election appeared to demonstrate a commitment to treating every student equally.”

Perry is also an apparent expert on all things ~diversity~ related (it’s not a buzzword you get to employ as you see fit) given his privileged background. I’m not making this up. “Campus diversity is something every school and student should strive to consistently improve. But it must be done the right way,” Perry writes.

Perry has a well-documented anti-gay history, so it’s relatively unsurprising that he felt the need to criticize his alma mater’s student government election practices by releasing this op-ed.

Um, due process seems to me like exactly what was carried out here. As reported by The Battalion, a student-run publication at Texas A&M, the student government judicial court voted unanimously “to uphold the election commissioner’s decision to disqualify Robert McIntosh.”

Texas A&M students themselves are unclear on why Perry wrote the op-ed. “Honestly, we were just surprised to see that the secretary of energy would take the time to weigh in in detail,” said Amy Smith, Texas A&M’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, to the Texas Tribune.

This is just tiring, honestly. White manly man feels threatened that gay person could hold a position of power, white manly man writes angry, chauvinistic rant, people respond saying they don’t understand why he’s spending time on this at all. Same! I’m bored!

Dunkin' Donuts Is Discontinuing the Coffee Coolata & People are Devastated

If you love Dunkin Donuts’ Coffee Coolata as much as I do, get ready to be devastated. According to the company, it will be phased out over the next several months and be replaced with something called "Frozen Dunkin' Coffee." Yeah, the name is definitely not as awesome as "Coolata."

The Coffee Coolata has been on the Dunkin Donuts menu for years, and Dunkin's director of culinary innovation, Paul Racicot said, "we believe it's time we... contemporize our frozen platform," according to Fox News. His sentiment is shared by Chris Fuqua, the senior vice president of the brand, who said the Coffee Coolata “isn’t good enough," and that the new Frozen Coffee, which has a stronger coffee flavor, is much better.

But people on Twitter don't seem to care much for contemporization, because they've been showing up for their beloved Coffee Coolata. There was massive backlash after the announcement was made.

For people who love the fruit-flavored Coolatas, have no fear. Thankfully, those are staying on the menu.

7 Ways To Practice Body Positivity Every Day

$
0
0

Somehow, starting who knows how long ago, an annoying voice set up a rent-free space in your brain and began its full-time job: yacking at you about everything that it doesn’t deem to be “perfect” and about everything that could be “changed” to make you “prettier,” “happier” and “more worthy.” And it’s hard not to listen to it. It commands attention every time you look in the mirror and whenever you’re scrolling through social media, comparing yourself to someone else’s highlight reel.

But that voice doesn’t deserve power anymore. It doesn't deserve to be listened to. It’s time to replace it with a voice that’s stronger and more loving.

Body positivity is a movement that unites us in recognizing that all bodies are of value and worthy of praise and celebration. It’s about loving and caring for yourself, and uplifting others in the same pursuit. The movement also challenges the notion that there’s one “perfect” body form. We’re all invited to redefine beauty so that it captures the entire range of what makes each of us unique and beautiful.

Choosing to become body positive doesn’t have to turn into a daunting journey you embark on — it can be fueled by small things you do daily. Rather than striving for perfection, it can be about striving for progress.

On that note, here are some token habits you can start doing to fill up with some body-positive goodness:

1. Repeat mantras to yourself

This may seem silly when you first try it, but repeating positive affirmations to yourself, especially while looking in the mirror, can revolutionize your mindset and how you see yourself. The messages we tell ourselves are what manifest in reality; what we think, we become. Tell yourself I’m young and beautiful, right here, right now, or I was born in this body for a reason, or I see beauty everywhere I look, and I see it right now.

“You have a mind, a heart and a creative spirit. You’re in control and can create the life you dream,” says founder of EMPOWERED and creator of FITWeek Emily Cook Harris. Check out some more powerful mantras here.

2. Do more of the things that make you happy

Doing the things that bring you joy, no matter how small or quirky they may be, puts you in a zone where you’re not thinking about anything else but the task at hand. You become confident in what you’re doing, and the fact that you’re doing it for yourself raises self-esteem. You’re so much more than just an image; you’re a walking embodiment of passion for the things you care about, and that’s what stops others in their tracks. Like the wise Emma Stone once said, “I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself.”

3. Get your yoga on

Yoga is magical. It makes you more aware of your body and by the end of it, you’re left with this feeling of self-love and gratitude that’s priceless. Even if you have time to do only a couple of stretches and poses, throw on a relaxing Spotify playlist (We recommend “Relax & Focus”) and do it! You’d be surprised by how strong and flexible your body is, and how it serves to function for you, rather than being an aspect that gets in your way. “I’ve recently just started yoga and I’m focusing it on bringing more positivity into my life,” says Ashley Drayton, a graduate of Georgia State University. “I’m learning that having time for myself every day and paying attention to my body goes a long way.”

4. Sprinkle love and compliments wherever you go

Yes, we’re aware of how cheesy that sounds, but it’s so underrated. Complimenting others requires us to look for the good in them, and in doing so, we start to see the good in ourselves, too. Be a source of positivity for others, and spread those good vibes! They’ll come right back around to you.

And the same goes for complimenting yourself as well! “Something I love to do every year is come up with one physical aspect of my body that I love every month,” says Emmanuel University senior Autumn Dube. “Whether it's my hair, booty, or smile, I dedicate that month to focusing on loving that part of myself.”

5. Instead of judging your body for what it looks like, thank it for all it does for you

Finding flaws in the mirror is easy, but what gives you real strength, power and ownership of all you got goin’ on is when you can turn that around and focus on how amazing your body actually is. Acknowledge that your body is here to serve you, and recognize just how blessed you are to be housed in it. “I love to focus on what my body can do and accomplish, instead of how I wish it looked. For example, instead of thinking ‘I wish I had smaller thighs,’ I think, ‘My thighs let me run five miles,’” James Madison University senior Molly Crum says.

So trust your body – it’s not out to get you. Love it and listen to it. “By focusing on daily actions of self-love and health, you begin to love your body on a deeper level because you’re taking care of it,” says Emily Cook Harris. “If your friend was sick, you’d take care of them. Have that same love towards yourself. Treat your body like it belongs to someone you love.”

6. Collect and surround yourself with inspirational body-positive messages

Post little notes around your room, follow motivational accounts on social media and collect uplifting quotes and articles! Surround yourself with positivity on a daily basis, and you’ll start to see it within yourself and all around. Beverly Hills psychiatrist and author Carole Lieberman, M.D. also recommends “putting photos on your wall of women who have achieved great success, despite not looking like Barbie.”

7. Get rid of your scale, and track your actions instead

“I love my scale! It makes me feel great!”... said no one ever. “The scale is a confidence thief, and it’s not giving you the whole story. All it’s showing you is your relationship to gravity. The body is made up of bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, organs, glands, cells, arteries, veins, blood, and more… Why are we weighing all this?!” says Emily Cook Harris. “Focus less on the aesthetics and more on the actions. Track those. Celebrate those. When we give away our power to the “outcome” or the “result” we are missing out on the power in what we can do now.” So limit the power you give to numbers on a scale and instead, give power to yourself. Be proud and excited about all that you’re doing to get yourself closer to your goal.

Just for a second, take a moment to think about what the older version of yourself would be telling you if she was sitting across from you right now. She’d probably be gleaming with pride, seeing you take the steps toward owning the strong, fierce, beautiful human that you are, always have been and always will be. Life gives you keys to unlock parts of yourself you didn’t know were there. Maybe this journey of self-love is one of those times.
“You’re a fiery soul, a brilliant mind, and a passionate heart in a strong body. Be that girl. And approach your life with that fire.”- Emily Cook Harris

Rockville High School Receives Hundreds of Threats in the Aftermath of Recent Rape Case

Hundreds of angry, vitriolic emails, calls and tweets have inundated Rockville High School in Maryland railing against current school politics, calling for the superintendent to be removed, and even threatening to “burn down the school” or come in and “shoot the illegals” after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two classmates who are undocumented immigrants March 16, reports the Washington Post.

The suburban school system has not seen a let-up in the constant stream of incoming anger and frustration from parents and others in the community since the alleged rape occurred. The outrage has since spread, becoming a hot-button subject of debate across the Internet and fueling the flames of an already contentious ongoing immigration debate. It even came up during a White House press conference, when White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer condemned the alleged rape as “shocking, disturbing, horrific and whatever words someone can think of.” He also incorrectly characterized the victim as a legal immigrant to the United States, but the Washington Post says that “Montgomery County officials said she had no immigrant status of any kind.”

As the debate continues on, Rockville High School officials maintain that the high school admits any and all children, “regardless of their status.” This isn’t just a precedent in Rockville; it’s a precedent set by the Supreme Court that applies to all schools in the United States. County Superintendent Jack Smith stated, “We are a public school system and we serve all of our students when they come to us.”

Details of the incident are limited at this point, and the school can’t go much further than voicing their shock and regret. Police are still actively investigating the situation and giving out details might compromise the case or otherwise “jeopardize prosecution.” School officials say details concerning how this could have happened will also become more available as the “judicial process unfolds.”

The majority of concerns not aimed at the immigration status of the two alleged perpetrators center on how something like this could have possibly happened early on in the school day, in a school with 1,450 students, five security staff members. . . a sworn school resource officer who is on the county police force and 105 surveillance cameras on campus.” The incident also did not occur during passing periods, but rather during class time.

The school plans to make safety concerns and improvements its number one priority for the foreseeable future.

In a sneak peak of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kendall Jenner speaks up about her horrifying experience with 25-year old alleged stalker, Shavaughn McKenzie.

She recalls seeing a man on her street while driving home one night. “I was like: ‘That’s so weird.’ He just looked like a homeless man,” she says. After pulling into her driveway and watching the gate close, things started to get weird.

“I’m about to open my door and I look in my rearview mirror and he was standing like right there,” she says. “I just saw his figure.” The man approached the 21-year-old model, apparently saying that he needed to talk to her. She recalls getting emotional at that point.

“And I was like: ‘No, you need to leave!’” she remembers. “I called one of my friends immediately — I’m sobbing, crying. He’s at my window, banging on my window screaming at me. I finally start backing out and I get to my gate, the gate opens and I get out and all of a sudden he starts running after me.”

Thankfully, her friends came by and restrained the man until the police arrived. He was ultimately found guilty of trespassing, but was acquitted of stalking.

As for Kendall, she is understandably shaken. “I used to be the one who was so independent,” she says. “I was always kind of by myself, in a good way — but now it’s fully flipped.” We hope Kendall will fully recover from her experience.

From willingly eating your vegetables to listening to music at an "appropriate" volume, adulting is definitely a change of habit. Plus, it's not as if there's a class you can take about all the unspoken rules for those over the age of 18. (There should be, though. Can we make that a thing?)

That's why it's very important to recognize even the smallest acts of being a grown-up and congratulate yourself. Here are 16 times you've actually succeeded in adulting fully.

1. You filed your taxes without murdering anyone. And you got money back!

2. You did your laundry before it completely took over your room.

3. You haven’t barfed in a sink in a month.

4. OMG, you can finally see the floor of your room. You have hardwood floors? Nice.

5. You got a flu shot! And only cried a little.

6. Yay you! You baked a cake! Sure, you microwaved it in a mug, but it still counts.

7. You don't use your old student ID to get a discount quite as much as you used to.

8. You actually did something about the check engine light on the dashboard.

9. You created a dating profile…and it wasn’t for catfishing your ex.

10. You made your bed. No hospital corners here, but at least you tried.

11. You watched the news. So what if you shut it off after five seconds because it’s too depressing?

12. It’s been at least a week since you cyberstalked your ex.

13. What? You voted?!?!

14. You went to your first gyno appointment! And your doctor is kind of amazing, BTW.

15. You woke up before noon. On a Saturday. Voluntarily.

16. You adopted a furry BFF. Awww…

Congrats on your adult accomplishments!

15 Percent of Female Students at the University of Texas Were Raped as College Students According to a Survey

While it's well-known that campus rape and sexual assault are major issues on college campuses, in the past, it's been difficult to determine the number of college students who have dealt with unwanted sexual contact or harrassment due to underreporting - but a new survey by the University of Texas, which is being called one of the most in-depth in the country, may finally give us an idea of the numbers.

The CLASE survey, which was taken by 28,000 students at UT's 13 campuses, found that 15 percent of female students at the University of Texas at Austin reported being raped at some point while enrolled, the Dallas News reports. While the percentage was highest at the Austin campus, around 10 percent of students in the entire University of Texas system responded saying they had been raped. Additionally, 28 percent of students were victims of unwanted sexual touching or assault, and most victims, around 58 percent, were female.

The survey also confirmed the fact that sexual assault and rape on campus is frequently underreported: only six percent of students at UT Austin told anyone at the university following the incident, and a whopping 68 percent told no one.

University of Texas president Gregory Fenves issued a statement regarding the release of the study, saying that sexual assault would not be tolerated in the UT system.

"The first injustice committed in every assault or inappropriate behavior is the act itself, but the second injustice is often the silence of the community surrounding that victim," he said. "We must not be silent anymore, and we must not be afraid to face this problem."

Fenves added that the university had let victims down, and vowed to improve moving forward.

"No voice is too quiet to listen to," he said. "No story of abuse is too minor to ignore. No truth is too uncomfortable to face. We support you."
