Ansel Elgort's Cover Of 'City Of Stars' Will Give You So Many Feels

If you're a fan of Ansel Elgort, a.k.a. the boy who stole all of our hearts and made us publicly cry in movie theaters, and the Oscar-winning song "City of Stars" (originally performed by Ryan Gosling) from La La Land, you're going to want to buckle up because it's about to be an emotional ride.

The actor-turned-DJ graced us all with an Instagram video of himself covering the song on the piano with him singing the lyrics in a way that just seems to pierce right through your soul. Complete with some bizarre jewelry and a questionable outfit choice, it's safe to say this performance is going to have us deep in the feels for quite some time.

Check out the video below to see the magic for yourself. And to quote one of the best video comments of all time, "I don't see any faults in those stars." Same, man. Same.

What to Do When Your Ex Gets Back in Touch with You

0
0

You know the moment. Maybe they texted, sent a late-night Snap, slid into your DMs or liked a Facebook post that’s just a little too off the beaten path. That’s right. Your ex/former flame is back, and they’re looking to lure you back in. Don’t give in (at least not without some caution)!

Those of us who have been dumped, ghosted on or just plain treated poorly by a former romantic interest know your pain, and we’re here to make sure you don’t fall back into this painful cycle. Read on for a variety of steps to take when your ex tries to strike something up again!

1. Don’t engage

It isn’t worth it. If they’ve decided to slither their way back into your life after hurting you, it’s likely their motivations aren’t good—they should be able to respect your space otherwise. You shouldn’t have to deal, especially if talking to them is going to bring up bad feelings and stress. If you take this route, simply delete whatever they’ve sent you and move on! Keep doing you.

“One of my exes reached out to me on my birthday,” says Katie Sall, a junior at Illinois State University. “Even though it was kind hearted, I wish he knew that it sort of broke my heart all over again after not speaking for months and also sort of killed my birthday. My tip would be to hold your ground and remember why it didn't work out in the first place.”

In the long run, you’ll be happy that you didn’t give them the satisfaction of knowing they still had a grip on you. “Not everybody deserves to hear how you're doing, and not everybody deserves your time,” Katie says. “It's okay to take a step back and realize that you don't owe them anything!” You have to put yourself first before you can think about welcoming anyone else, romantic or otherwise, into your life.

2. Don’t stalk their social media

It can be near impossible — especially for those of us who never want to hurt anyone’s feelings — to avoid checking in on a former romantic interest when they’re not still in your life, let alone if they start talking to you again. "Stalking your ex on social media only serves to hurt you," says Grace*. "They'll constantly be on your mind and you'll get no distance from what happened."

If you have to, block them or delete their number. Their feelings aren’t relevant at this point, and you need to put yours first! It might very well be better for your mental health to have them completely out of sight, and that way they’ll start to fade into the background.

They’ll stop popping up in your brain every other thought, and eventually it will get easier to deal with the pain or the unhappy memories. "Removing your ex from your social media is a good step in the process of getting over them," says Grace. If you have to justify blocking them another way, consider how you’ll make them wonder what’s going on if they can’t get in contact with you. Then they’ll be the one stressing! Nothing wrong with a little payback.

Ideally, the happy memories will even start to outweigh the bad, and you can look back on the relationship (or whatever it was) and remember why it did make you happy and what it taught you.

3. Have an honest conversation

If you think you can do so and that it will be productive (that is, they will be honest too), then maybe it’s time you had a talk about what happened and why it isn’t cool that they’re trying to get in touch again.

Maybe there’s potential here for growth and closure that won’t leave you wondering about what it was exactly that went wrong or what you could have done to change the way things ended. “My advice for exes coming back in your life would usually be ‘No, do not pass go, do not entertain them,’ but if the relationship is still genuine, you both understand what went wrong and mutually want to work on making things right, then go for it!” says Ashley Drayton, a 2015 graduate from Georgia State University.

Confronting the person you used to be involved with can lead to a variety of conversations. “The last guy I was dating started reaching out to me shortly after we broke up and I was very confused,” says Annie*. “I'm happy I talked to him afterward because I called him out and told him that he treated me like garbage, and that wasn't okay at all.”

There’s nothing wrong with expressing your feelings about the way things went and how what they did impacted you. “If someone treats you poorly, don't let them in right away with no questions asked. They're your ex for a reason,” Annie says. “I'm so glad I kept my guard up with him and told him off.” Hopefully they’ll take what you said seriously and not put someone else through the same thing — that’s about the best you can hope for from an ex!

4. Take note of your progress and remember why things ended

Since they got out of your life, things have undoubtedly been better. Even if the relationship was good at the beginning, there’s a reason they’re gone — it wasn’t meant to be. Think of all the time you spent grieving and annoying your friends and going over every moment a million times. You don’t need to go through that again!

Getting over them and the relationship took so much time and effort, and it may very well seem like things could be different now — try to think objectively. They didn’t treat you well and you weren’t good for each other, and it ended. If it’s meant to be, it will work itself out, but don’t give in just because they are making this power move! If they are being genuine, they’re going to have to work harder than that — and you’re worth working hard for.

If you’re reading this and you’re thinking about reaching out to your ex yourself, consider whether you’re doing it for selfish reasons. “My ex-boyfriend contacted me about eight months after the relationship ended with an extremely long text message,” says Stephanie Huynh, a freshman at Lehigh University. “He basically told me his version of the breakup and how he still wanted to be friends after everything we had been through.”

Unless there’s a legitimate reason for the contact, err on the side of leaving them alone. “If you ever want to get back in touch with your ex, do it with good intentions, not just to make yourself feel better,” Stephanie says. “There is another person on the line, and bringing up old, painful memories isn't worth it sometimes.” If it’s still painful or sad for you, the case is probably the same for them.

5. Be the bigger person

If you’re in a place where talking to them won’t screw up all the amazing progress you’ve made, there’s also nothing wrong with being nice and polite! It’s also a great way for you to maintain control in the situation.

Former romantic interests always manage to show up at the worst times. “After I got into my first committed relationship with my now husband, I turned into a guy magnet,” says Emilie Trepanier, a senior at The University of Utah. “Former flames who ghosted on me or simply said ‘it's just not working’ suddenly appeared back in my life.”

If they’re trying to get under your skin, they won’t be able to if you’re playing it cool and letting their dumb moves roll off your back. “I continued to be nice to them because I sort of saw it as one big joke because they knew they'd treated me poorly in the first place, [and] it felt kinda good to say that they missed their chance on me, not gonna lie,” Emilie says. Snaps to that.

Hardest of all is making the decision to continue talking to them. Self-assess first, and determine whether this is something you can handle and whether or not it will be beneficial for you to keep them around. “I realized when you care about someone, when you have simple admiration for what it is, and you enjoy their presence in your life (even if that's just knowing you’re on good terms), I [would] personally rather be around to support them as a genuine friend, then as nothing at all,” says Danielle Pransky, a junior at Montclair State University.

If you’re both mature and stable enough to handle it, maybe test out the friendly waters. “Feelings can definitely complicate things but if you like them as a person and they treat you well as a friend, I don't think it's a bridge that necessarily has to be burned, maybe you just don't have to talk as frequently,” Danielle says. “Creating that distance helps a little bit as well as meeting new people.” Maybe having them around can keep you more aware of what you’re looking for and what you know isn’t good for you!

Whether or not exes have a radar for when you’re just starting to get your life back on track (let alone just getting involved in something new and good), we’ll leave for science to determine. For now, just follow these trusty tips, and you’ll keep moving on to bigger and better things! Don’t forget — there’s nothing wrong with falling in love with yourself first.

We couldn't be happier that darty season in full swing. After all, who doesn't love having fun in the sunshine with their friends all day? Although drinking beer and listening to live music seems rather straight forward, there are other things that always happen during darty season. We've decided to lay them out for you:

1. You look forward to Saturday all week.

2. You already have the perfect outfit planned out.

3. Despite planning ahead, someone always wakes up too hungover.

4. You frantically run to the grocery store to pick up items for brunch (mimosas included, of course).

5. Only half your squad is awake in time to start drinking early.

6. Your attempt to be classy is ruined by taking shots before noon.

7. You have one friend who's in charge of calling a sober driver.

8. Once you're finally ready to go and the ride gets there, you pile in like it's a clown car.

9. One of your friends is drunkenly hitting on the driver, of course.

10. You get there and immediately locate the keg.

11. The next few hours are spent in a drunk, happy haze.

12. An attempt to ride the mechanical bull ends poorly.

13. You lose at least one of your friends.

14. You find your lost friend on stage with the band.

15. You start to realize that the last meal you had isn't holding you over anymore.

16. So naturally, you stumble into the nearest dining hall for some drunchies.

17. Despite every best effort, at least one of your friends isn't going to make it out that night.

Enjoy darty season and be safe, collegiettes!

Bebe Is Probably Closing All Brick-and-Mortar Locations

Remember how exciting it was to go shopping when you were, like, 12? Long before the days of online shopping, most of us were confined to finding clothing at whatever mall our parents were willing to drive us to. Bebe, your go-to place for hot dresses in junior high (that always took your mom some convincing to buy), is joining the ranks of your middle school favorites BCBG, Abercrombie & Fitch, Wet Seal and The Limited, by closing its brick-and-mortar locations in 2017.

Bebe has yet to confirm these closures, but regardless, fear not, as you will still be able to shop at Bebe online. Bloomberg reported that the store will be focusing on its online sales, in an effort to avoid filing for bankruptcy.

In its prime, the company, which was named after a twist on Shakespeare’s legendary line, “To be or not to be,” collaborated with high-profile celebrities, such as the Kardashians, Mischa Barton, Brenda Song and Eva Longoria. Bebe branched out into sister labels Bebe Sport, Bebe Outlet, Bebe Holiday and Bebe Accessories… thats a lot of Bebe. Too much, maybe?

Here's to hoping that the company has more success in their online endeavours. Now your nostalgic fix for bedazzled logo shirts, tight dresses and sequined-everything will have to be met through some online shopping!

Selena Gomez's Response to This Joke About Justin Bieber & The Weeknd Is Perfect

Selena Gomez seems to be quite happy in her new relationship with The Weeknd—so much so that she’s even willing to take some good-natured ribbing about it from a friend. Seeing as both The Weeknd and Selena’s ex Justin Bieber reign from the Great White North that is Canada, one could easily argue that she has a soft spot for Canadians, right?

Selena’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo decided to test these waters when the two did an Instagram live story on Vanngo’s account, Cosmopolitan reports. When the duo gave Canada a shout-out, Vanngo piped up, “You know, Selena loves Canadians.”

Selena took the joke in stride, laughing and telling Vanngo, “All right, all right…”

Do you think anyone else would get such an easygoing response? Either way, it's good to see that Selena is willing to laugh at herself and the coincidence of it all.

Beyoncé FaceTimed a Fan with Cancer Who Totally Deserved the Call

Beyoncé reached out to a high school senior diagnosed with a rare stage four cancer who just happens to be a proud member of the Beyhive, Refinery29 reports. After Ebony Banks’ friends started the campaign #EBOBMEETSBEYONCE, the two women finally connected over FaceTime, saying that they loved each other. Um, how amazing is that?!

Seeing as Ebony has spent the majority of her senior year in the hospital, her friends were determined to catch Beyonce's eye online and give Ebony the thrill of a lifetime. "We try to make sure she has a smile on her face and to make her wishes come true," friend Cristal Depaz told an ABC affiliate

Did we mention that Ebony is from Houston, Bey's hometown? In addition to that coincidence, Ebony had some inspiring news she could've shared with the singer: she graduated high school early in a personal ceremony held at the hospital. Achieving such a feat while still receiving medical treatment is definitely worth a gold star in anyone's book.

Congrats to Ebony for finishing high school and for getting to chat with her number one idol, and props to Queen Bey for making a fan's dreams become reality.

15 Signs Your BFF is Actually Family

Best friends aren't really best friends until they become part of the family. Your brothers and sisters are practically hers too, just like your parents think she's their extra daughter. You're also convinced you might actually be sisters who were separated at birth. Regardless, if you and your best friend are close AF, you can definitely relate to the following:

1. You bicker like sisters.

2. Your extended family is completely aware of your best friend and always ask how they are at family functions.

Most of the time, your BFF is at the family function. Sometimes your aunt invites her before you do. Oops.

3. You two text each other’s moms all the time.

She’s also friends with your mom on Facebook and following her on Instagram and Snapchat.

4. You never really knock or ring the bell.

Somehow, the door is always open for you.

5. You sense when something is wrong from miles away and call immediately.

Turns out, her cat is sick.

6. She starts eating all the food in your house.

My fridge, is your fridge… I guess.

7. You two are definitely telepathic.

You always seem to know what you two are thinking.

8. She’s the only person that can deal with all sides of you the way family does.

9. You’ve planned the next 5 years together.

Even 10 years.

10. She knows all the family secrets.

You guys know everything about each other.

12. Your texts are usually a bunch of screenshots of crap you think is funny.

“OMG, did you see that baby laugh?”

13. Your mom knows that if you’re hanging out with her that day, to set up dinner for her as well.

14. Your siblings even text her trying to get a hold of you.

15. You know for a fact that you’re stuck with each other forever.

It’s okay though, because you love each other like family!

The U.K. Parliament Attacker Has Been Claimed by ISIS as One of Its ‘Soldiers’

0
0

The Islamic State took responsibility for the attack at the British Parliament Wednesday, The New York Times reports. The shooter was Khalid Masood, according to The Guardianwho is responsible for the deaths of three people and the injuries of about 30 others. British authorities “had investigated [Masood] for connections to violent extremism,” but he was not being actively pursued at the time of the attack.

Shortly after Prime Minister Theresa May made a statement releasing the attacker’s name and some details of the police investigation, the Islamic State released its own statement calling Masood “a ‘soldier’ who ‘carried out the operation in response to appeals’ to fight Western powers involved in military operations in the Middle East.”

Though the investigation at Parliament is ongoing, other city operations in London have returned to relative normalcy. According to the Times, many in the city had feared that London would be a target after deadly attacks in Paris and Brussels.

Because one of the victims was French and several of the injured individuals were from a French visiting student group, French authorities are looking into the possibility of whether the attack was pointed at France as well.

It’s hard not to completely pathologize and condemn individuals who carry out acts of terror, but I think that moments like these offer a chance to examine why these attacks happen. What about our world prompts this kind of action? How can we prevent it from happening in the future?

Rather than vilifying Islam and the people who practice it, we should reflect on the circumstances that trigger these horrible tragedies, and the ease with which a person can access the means to carry them out.

Soon You're Going to Be Able to Text Starbucks Gift Cards to Everyone in Your Life

0
0

Okay, this is seriously a game changer. Starbucks just announced that starting in April, you’ll be able to text electronic gift cards to your friends and family, according to Glamour. This means a lazy girl’s guide to gift giving just got so much easier. After all, if you friends aren't obsessed with everything Starbucks and coffee, then are they really your friends?

Aside from being convenient and easy AF for us customers, this move makes a lot of sense for Starbucks when you look at the numbers. According toBloomberg, over a fifth of the coffee chain's transations happen through the app (Mobile Order & Pay, anyone?). The easier you make it for people to buy stuff with their phones, the more money is headed your way.

And the system will be super easy to use. If you’re lucky enough to receive a gift in your messaging app, you'll be able to use it right away. If you have self-control, unlike myself, then you can transfer your gift card to your Starbucks app and save it for later.

Now you can bequeath sugary caffeinated drinks to your friends for every major and minor holiday. Need a gift idea for International Cat Day (which is August 8, 2017)? What about your friendaversary? Just text them some coffee! Well, you aren’t actually texting them a café mocha. Although, that would be awesome. Hey, Starbucks—make it happen!

11 Career Lessons We Can Learn From Gilmore Girls

0
0

For seven seasons (and one revival), we watched Lorelai and Rory Gilmore navigate the treacherous waters of school, work, love, friends, and growing up. We laughed with (and even at) them, swooned along side them, and looked to them for guidance when they faced challenges similar to ours. In particular, we watched two intelligent, strong women navigate the career world from very different perspectives. Rory was just starting to try to answer the terrifying question of what are you going to do with your life? while Lorelai was taking a stepback to reevaluate her answer. Whether you're in high school, college, or just joining the work force, we can all look to the Gilmore girls for career advice.

1. Be confident

Know who you are and own it—including your strengths, weaknesses, decisions and mistakes. Lorelai is unabashedly herself and takes full responsibility for her actions, and she tries to instill this sense of self-confidence in Rory from a young age. Remember that terrible double date she had to go on with Sookie and Jackson? She was insulted the practically the entire night, but she didn't let it phase her self-image. Also, Lorelai owns her past- she is not embarassed and does not deny that she made mistakes as a teenager. Instead, she decided to make her life her own by leaving her parents and dropping out of school, eventually working her way up to management level at the Independence Inn. In the first season, it is hard for her to ask her parents for help paying for Rory's private school education, but she does it anyway, because she cares about her daughter and she knows that she has made her own life on her terms for the past sixteen years.

2. It’s okay to start over

Lorelai left her job at the Independence Inn to start her own business, and while she faced some challenges along the way, her risk paid off. If you feel like you’ve outgrown your current situation—career, academic, or otherwise—don’t be afraid to change your life. Sometimes you have to start over from square one.

3. Surround yourself with people who challenge you

Rory and Paris’ friendship is a great example of the importance of having challenging peers because although they started out as each other’s competition, their relationship evolved into a strong friendship. Yes, Paris might have driven Rory crazy sometimes, but she pushed Rory to do her best. You might not have to be wildly competitive with someone to reap the benefits of a friendship, but it’s a good idea to associate with people who make you want to be a better version of yourself.

4. Work hard now so you can reap the benefits later

Both Lorelai and Rory are examples of girl bosses who aren’t afraid of hard work. Despite financial and personal challenges they each face throughout their career paths, they stay determined and kept persisting. We can all take a page out of the Gilmore Girls’ books when we’re stuck at that terrible (and unpaid) internship that might be hard at the time, but will seriously help you get where you want to go.

5. Maintain a strong support system

From phone calls with your mom to brunch dates with your best friend to happy hour with colleagues, invest time in the relationships in your life. Rory and her mom are the definition of mother-daughter goals, and they definitely needed one another throughout the series. Rory also could rely on her strong friendships, like Lane and Paris, while Lorelai could count on Sookie.

6. Don’t be ashamed to be smart and show it

While we might not all be Rory Gilmore-level genius, we have something to contribute, and shouldn’t be afraid to engage in conversations at work. Paris did not shy away from her ambitions, instead she pursues them in full force, often leaving chaos in her wake. If anyone tried to silence Paris or make her feel inferior, you can expect a clapback of epic proportions ("If you need some love, get a hooker" anyone?) While Paris is sometimes the enemy character in the show, you have to admire her strength, persistance, and confidence. While she might not care how people respond to her straightforwardness, she does value herself. Your input is valuable and your perspective is unique, why stifle it with self-doubt?

7. Don’t let distractions hold you back

In the very first episode of Gilmore Girls, Rory meets a cute boy (Dean) and second-guesses her decision to transfer from her local high school to the fancy private school Chilton. But her mother quickly reminds her what is truly important, because boys come and go, but some opportunities are once in a lifetime. Don’t get sidetracked by something that seems super important now if you know five years (or even five days) from now it won’t matter.

8. Be stubborn about your goals

Don’t let self-doubt or naysayers prevent you for going for what you want. But a goal without a plan is just a dream. Take the time to reflect on where you want to go and how you will get there.

9. But also be a little flexible

Your five-year plan might hit a major roadblock- and that’s okay! Rory had her heart set on a fellowship at the New York Times, and turned down other jobs in hopes of working at her dream job. However, when she did not get the position, she had to reassess her next move. Nothing always goes exactly according to plan, so be prepared to reevaluate your career strategy at every turn.

10. Failure can only stop you if you let it

Rory hit a rough patch in college and needed some time to regroup. But she returned to Yale to become editor-in-chief of the Yale Daily News and even when she graduated from college without a set post-grad plan, she embraced her freedom. She persisted, kept applying to jobs and eventually got an amazing opportunity as a journalist for a presidential campaign.

11. Coffee can get you far

Sometimes all you need is a strong cup of coffee to help you power through.

In the end, the main lesson we can take away from watching the career ups and downs the Gilmores navigated through the years is that everything might not turn out exactly the way you want, but that's okay. You have to dedicate yourself to being the best you can be at whatever you're doing at the moment. And if you've been working so hard lately and you're in desperate need of a break, maybe a few episodes of Gilmore Girls are the exact inspiration you need to get reenergized (consider this the doctor's order).

The primary reason we watch movies and read books is to live vicariously through the characters as they experience life, including both love and heartbreak. And we all love a good rom-com. While some fictional couples are so obviously perfect for each other, others don't seem to make sense on paper. Here are 15 fictional relationships that I'll never understand.

1. Edward and Bella from Twilight

Aka an undead 17-year-old is obsessed with protecting a clumsy girl.

2. Belle and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast

Stockholm syndrome, anyone?

3. Nate and Blair from Gossip Girl

Yeah, remember when they dated for like the first season? Blair and Chuck all the way.

4. Annie and Ted from Bridesmaids

~Awkward~

5. Leonard and Penny from The Big Bang Theory

Aka a nerdy scientist woos the hot waitress-next-door with his desperation and math skills.

6. Lorelai and Mr. Medina from Gilmore Girls

Sorry, but compared to Luke?!

7. Meredith and Nick from The Parent Trap

Meredith was fake AF.

8. Frank and Claire from House of Cards

They're a great couple, but you gotta admit it's a strange, powerful relationship.

9. Irving and Rosalyn from American Hustle

All I took away was how amazing Jennifer Lawrence is at acting.

10. David and Natalie from Love Actually

I'm sorry but they BARELY KNOW EACH OTHER.

11. Or Juliet and Mark?

He's in love with his best friend's wife and so he pretends to hate her and then he reveals his feelings and then she kisses him but stays with her husband? Not at all complicated.

12. Erica and Harry from Something's Gotta Give

A Type A, neat freak novelist falls for her daughter's ex—a smoking womanizer.

13. John and Claire from The Breakfast Club

The school princess and the detention repeat offender? I'm all for breaking stereotypes, but all of a sudden it's the end and I'm like, 'When did that happen?'

14. Dory and Marlin from Finding Nemo

Are they even together?!

15. Sharpay and Zeke from High School Musical

The school diva hates the nice basketball player until she eats the cookies he made.

10 Times Tom Haverford Said What You Were Really Thinking

Even though Parks and Rec ended with its seventh season two years ago, it's still fun to binge watch on Netflix and quote all the time. Tom Haverford is one of the best characters of all time, and he's constantly saying what we're all thinking. Here are some times Tom did just that...

1. On desserts: “You can’t say your favorite kind of cake is birthday cake. That’s like saying your favorite kind of cereal is breakfast cereal.”

2. On morality: "I have never taken the high road, but I tell other people to 'cause then there's more room for me on the low road."

3.  On taking the next step: "Think about how much better our friendship would be if we added 'doing it'!"

4. On our favorite middle-school read: "Twilight is dope. I couldn't put it down. It was like she was peering into my soul."

5. On every exam question: "I don't know how to answer that."

6. On finding a balance: "Sometimes you have to work a little, so you can ball a lot"

7. On the importance of love: "Love fades away. But things? Things last forever."

8. On your music taste: "Every song I download has to pass a series of rigorous tests to answer one simple question: Is it a banger?"

9. On avoiding ~certain people~: "If all goes well, this might be one of the last times I get to speak to you."

10. And of course, on going to sleep: "My usual bedtime routine: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram 'til I slowly drift off"

The show may be over, but Tom Haverford is forever in our hearts.

RaeLynn Talks Blake Shelton, Her New Album & How Her Husband Inspires Her Music

You can always count on country music and its artists to tell a good story, and RaeLynn is no exception. She is a country force to be reckoned with. The 22-year-old singer first entered the country music scene five years ago on The Voice and has continued to impress us ever since with her talented voice, impressive drive and fun personality. Next up for RaeLynn? Her debut album, Wildhorse, comes out on March 24, and she'll be headlining her very own tour, the RaVe Tour, starting in April.

We were lucky enough to have the chance to speak with this country sweetheart, and we had an awesome time getting to learn more about her new record, inspirations and more.

When did you first know you wanted to be a singer?

RaeLynn: I grew up in a very musical family, everybody in our family can sing, so it’s definitely something that comes really natural to me. But I knew that I wanted to be in music really when I was 16 years old, and I started songwriting and coming up with my own songs and learning guitar. I just felt this urge to be on stage and to want to write songs and make people feel better. And that’s when I knew that this is something I want to do.

Why did you decide to pursue country music? What do you love most about the genre?

R: I think the thing about country music is the stories that you can tell and the fact that the fans are so loyal. This genre is unlike any other, and it’s evolving in so many ways. I’m just excited to watch it evolve and to be a part of it.

What was it like being on The Voice

R: Being on The Voice was so crazy. First of all, I learned so much, and to be a part of Team Blake and to be a part of a community like The Voice at such a young age was such a dream come true because everybody there is so helpful and helping everyone learn. It was one of the best experiences. It was my first band to work with, my first time figuring out what choreography meant, and it was really cool to go through that experience.

You're touring with your Voice mentor Blake Shelton right now. What has that been like?

R: Oh my gosh, Blake is one of the funniest people in the world, and I am so excited to be able to learn with him. He’s one of the best artists. I never fail to learn something. He’s just so great on stage and honestly one of my best friends, so I love it.

1 WEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK TILL #WILDHORSE COMES OUTTTTTT  #lonelycall

Congrats on your debut album WildHorse! We’re really excited to listen to it. What were some of the inspirations behind this record?

R: There’s just so many different inspirations behind it, you know? This record is my journey of where I’ve been in the last four years. There’s not just one song on the set that defines me—there’s so many songs on it that I have personally went through, and it just really shows where I’ve been in the last four years. Some of these songs I wrote when I was 21, some I wrote when I was 17—it’s really cool to see them all work together.

You wrote nearly all the songs on your album! What is your songwriting process like?

R: It’s different every time. A lot of times I’ll hear someone say something and it’ll strike inspiration. Or my husband [Josh Davis] loves to give me song ideas—he’s like, ‘What do you think about this idea?’ But I don’t really start with melody or lyrics first; it’s different every time.

So your husband is obviously one of the big inspirations for some of your songs, right?

R: Oh my gosh, of course. I wrote “Diamond” the day after we were engaged, basically talking about a diamond isn’t a diamond till you put it on the right left hand. Anyone can buy you a ring, but when you get the ring from the person you love, then it’s totally different.

My first headlining tour is gonna be a #RaVe #teaser

A post shared by R A E L Y N N (@raelynnofficial) on

You’re going on a headlining tour soon, which is super exciting! What about your upcoming RaVe Tour are you most looking forward to?

R: I’m looking forward to the whole concept of this tour. This tour is so cool because it’s really going to be different than any experience any country fans have been to. It’s starting with great music and an hour of the show, and then 30 minutes of a huge dance party. And I’m excited because nobody’s ever done this before, and it’s going to be really cool.

So you’ve been in the music industry for several years now. What's one of the most important lessons you've learned as a young artist?

R: The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is that everybody’s path is different. The way my career turns out is going to be so different than the person next to me. It’s not about comparing yourself but knowing that everybody’s path is different and that that’s okay.

And what advice do you have for young women with big dreams?

R: The advice that I have for anybody wanting to be in this industry is it takes hard work and determination. Nothing in any career—especially in this career—comes easy. It takes hard work, and if you really want it, it’s just going to take time. And like I said earlier, your success is going to look different from any others'.

Which song on Wildhorse is perfect for…

A good cry?

R:“Love Triangle”

Dancing?

R:“Trigger”

Playing on repeat?

R:“Your Heart”

Singing in the shower?

R:“Young”

When you’re feeling in love?

R:“Diamonds”

Listen to RaeLynn's new album Wildhorsenow!

You Guys, Sia Went Wig-Free at LAX Airport

Sia is a superstar if there were ever was one. The award-winning, chart-topping Australian artist has collaborated with Rihanna, Beyoncé and David Guetta, to name but a few. But, contrary to other famous people of her caliber, few of us would actually recognize her if we saw her on the street. Sure, you've seen her intense as fuck black and white wig with a giant bow on it, and you''ve probably even caught a glimpse of her crimped blonde one. Maybe you even went as her for Halloween! So it's not surprising that the singer left us all a little shook Thursday by appearing at Los Angeles International Airport sans wig. Sia—ahem, see—for yourself:

Sem disfarces, #Sia foi fotografada enquanto chegava ao aeroporto LAX, em Los Angeles.

A post shared by RDT Pop (@rdtpop) on

That's right, Sia is super hot—even at the airport, where I somehow always end up looking like I took 12 shots the night before, even if I got eight hours of sleep and put on mascara. So why does she wear a wig if she's so damn beautiful? It's actually a question of self-preservation. According to Billboard, the star's "shy and withdrawn personality was at odds with her public persona" and she has made efforts to stay out of the spotlight throughout her career. This has also enabled her to escape the harsh (and inherently sexist) scrutiny of famous female bodies, and maintain a semblance of stability in her life.

As Elite Daily points out, this isn't the first time Sia steps out without a wig, but it is a rare enough occurrence to warrant some surprised reactions on our part. And if you don't think what she does with her hair is that big a deal (you're right), you have to at least admire how this girl can look like such a damn queen in frickin' sweats. Show me your ways, Sia.

The GOP Replacement for Obamacare Doesn't Have Enough Votes to Pass

The American Health Care Act, the Republican health care plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, appears to be in jeopardy as it nears its floor vote on Friday. Paul Ryan apparently rushed to the White House Friday afternoon to tell President Trump the legislation currently does not have the votes to pass.

On Friday, several House Republicans who were previously against the bill said that they are now likely to support it, The Washington Post reports. According to the Post, GOP leaders said a vote is expected by late Friday afternoon. Earlier Friday, the revised legislation was sent to the full House for debate, which will take several hours, the Post reports.

In a last push for votes, on Thursday night Trump gave an ultimatum to House Republicans—either vote to approve the legislation on the House floor Friday, or reject it and Trump will leave it and focus on his other legislative priorities, according to the Post. He also (as always) tweeted on Friday.

Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC), chairman of the Freedom Caucus in the House, who is optimistic that negotiations will lead to amendments to the bill, said on Wednesday night, “We’re encouraged tonight, just based on the real willingness of not only the White House, but our leadership, to make this bill better,” The New York Times reports.

As of Friday morning, according to the Post, 33 House GOP members have said that they oppose the bill and assuming that there are no Democrats in support, if Republicans lose more than 22 votes, they won't be able to pass the legislation.

Republicans have criticized the bill, according to the Times, saying that the party is moving too fast. Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA) said, “This health care repeal affects millions upon millions upon millions of Americans. Don’t jam a disastrous bill through the House with patched-up fixes.”

Representative Charlie Dent (R-PA), leader of a moderate bloc of lawmakers known as the Tuesday Group, said that he opposes the bill, “I believe this bill, in its current form, will lead to the loss of coverage and make insurance unaffordable for too many Americans, particularly for low- to moderate-income and older individuals,” the Times reports. Furthermore, Rep. Dent said that he hoped the House would “step back from this vote and arbitrary deadline to focus on getting health care reform done right.”

Other, more conservative members of the GOP who don’t support the bill have argued that it doesn’t go far enough to completely repeal the Affordable Care Act. Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC) argued that he wanted a complete repeal of Title I, which mandates that certain benefits must be provided by insurers and prohibits insurers from raising rates based on gender and preexisting conditions, the Post reports.

In the midst of all of the talk surrounding the bill, Barack Obama released a statement saying, “So the reality is clear: America is stronger because of the Affordable Care Act. But we should start from the baseline that any changes will make our health care system better, not worse for hard-working Americans. That should always be our priority.”

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer is confident that the House will pass the GOP’s bill, according to the Post. “Slowly but surely we’re getting there. There is no Plan B. There’s Plan A and Plan A. We’re going to get this done.”

If the GOP is unable to pass this crucial bill that both the party and President Trump promised during the election season, the GOP may find it difficult down the road to pass other key initiatives.
