Levi's is once again celebrating the LGBTQ+ community with its new Pride Collection. The brand's Pride collection from 2014 is growing and now included patch-covered, rainbow-themed apparel.
"As a long-standing friend of the LGBTQ community, we're showing some love with a collection celebrating key moments in gay rights history,"reads the Levi's website.
The acceptance that is key to the collection’s branding expands beyond just aesthetics. Rather than buying into rigid conceptions of gender, all of the clothes in this collection are unisex. You can only buy the clothes in-store at a few locations, but luckily everything is available for purchase online.
If you need even more of an incentive to check out the Pride line, part of the profits will go to the Stonewall Community Foundation, which supports the LGBTQ community in New York City. It’s named after one of the collection’s primary inspirations, the Stonewall riots. These riots were violent demonstrations in NYC in the late 1960s, and they were led by members of the gay community who were frustrated by the abuse they suffered at the hands of the city’s police force. These riots played a huge role in the gay liberation movement that took place over the decades that followed.
