Victoria’s Secret Angel? Check. World-renowned supermodel? Check. BFFs with Taylor Swift? Check. We don’t know about you, but we think that Karlie Kloss is doing a pretty great job at being 22. However, Ms. Kloss does not seem to be fully satisfied just yet.
Since sharing a Vogue cover with your BFF is totally a normal occurrence, it is no surprise that the duo are featured in the March issue of the glossy fashion publication. In the cover story, Karlie revealed that she's going to be enrolling at NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study this fall.
The 22-year-old has been showing scholarly inclinations for quite some time through her Instagram posts featuring everything from late night study sessions (which we can totally relate to) to striking a pose next to a statue of John Harvard while spending time at Harvard University.
While it might seem that Karlie has the best of both worlds, attending school still comes at a cost. Unfortunately, that cost is the loss of her angel wings. Kloss has been with the Victoria’s Secret brand for four years and spent two of those years in the coveted role of a Victoria’s Secret Angel. Being an Angel has its perks, but it is also a major time commitment that requires some level of exclusivity which is not always feasible for an Angel-turned-student.
According to an Instagram post from Ed Razek, executive producer of the brand's fashion show and chief marketing officer of Victoria’s Secret, "Karlie and I met several months ago to discuss the many things she hoped to do in her life and career. As we talked, it became clear she would not have the time to fulfill her myriad commitments."
Although Karlie will be missed on the Victoria’s Secret runway, she is not quite ready to take a complete hiatus from the fashion world. She has several fashion campaigns already lined up for this year, including spring campaigns with Joe Fresh and Kate Spade.
We know that Taylor Swift will definitely be saying “Welcome to New York” to her bestie and we cannot wait for the dynamic duo to continue strutting through the streets of the city this fall!
