Over spring break, I managed to tick one item off my bucket list: visiting a Glossier store. I love online shopping but I rarely do so when it comes to makeup.

If you’re a person of color, you know the struggle that comes with buying makeup products online. There are rarely swatches available for people of color and you have to play the guessing game when it comes to buying a lipstick shade that will hopefully suit you. Therefore, I was excited to be able to finally swatch and try out some of Glossier’s most coveted products. After spending hours at the store, I finally found my favorite Glossier products which I hope will be yours too!

1. Cloud Paint

I never liked incorporating blush into my makeup routine as I feared that it would make my face look cakey but Cloud Paint completely changed my mind. With a buildable formula, you can choose how much you want to apply. The gel formula allows you to use your fingers to apply the product, which means that you can apply the product wherever you please. I found that the shade Storm worked best with my skin and I have been using it ever since.

2. Balm Dotcom

These multipurpose lip balm and skin slaves will definitely win your heart over if you’re a Lip Smackers lover. With seven different flavors, I thought it would be hard for me to pick a favorite. However, the mango flavor (which was recently released) stood out to me the most. It smelled like freshly sliced mangoes and I was instantly transported to a tropical island. If you are sensitive to scents, there is an original unscented version. You'll definitely still be able to have moisturized lips without being overwhelmed by the scent that comes with most beauty products.

3. Boy Brow

Believe me when I say that unlike most boys, this one won’t let you down. Even though I have full brows, both the black and clear shades added much more definition to my brows in different ways. Not a lot of people place importance on brow grooming but it definitely does make a difference. With blond, brown, black and clear shades, there is a shade for everyone to try.

4. Lidstar

Want to add some glitter to your eyelids without blinding anyone? Lidstar’s for you! With a doe foot applicator, it is easy to control the amount of pigment that goes onto your eyelids. You can also use your fingertips to shape the amount of product that’s on your eyelids. Don’t be fooled by the 0.15 oz packaging, a little definitely goes a long way when it comes to the Lidstars. Cub is definitely my favorite shade as it is a color that can be worn during the day or night.

5. Vinylic Lip

I’ve been on the lookout for a lip gloss with a tint which can be buildable and it’s safe to say that I found one. A part of the Glossier Play collection, which released on March 4, Vinylic Lip was one of the products I was looking forward to trying out in person due to the Glossier Play promotional pictures. I personally think that the clicker application is fun to use and the fact that the product does not taste like chemicals is definitely a plus. My favorite shade was Bank, simply because I tend to gravitate towards darker lip colors to compliment my skin tone.  If you are a lover of lip gloss but want to add a touch of color every now and then, definitely give the Vinylic Lips a shot!

It is important to remember the products that worked well on me might not necessarily work well for you. Going into a store and trying the product is the best way to determine if you like it. With Glossier recently opening up a pop-up store in Miami, one can hope that another pop-up store will open near Kansas City so that more people will be able to try out Glossier’s products.
