Not to be dramatic, but my Havaianas sandals have changed my life. I live in New York City where locally owned bodegas and corner stores are a way of life—and no one in my life has seen me looking worse than the clerks that run them. The manager at my Brooklyn corner store (whaddup, Mohammed) has passed a number of judgmental looks my way when I’ve come in hungover at 8 a.m. for Gatorade in a pair of untied sneakers.
