You, the thriller series starring Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley as a bookstore manager that becomes obsessed with a young woman who is a writer, is getting a new home.

Just Jared reports that Netflix will release the second season of You, which originally aired on Lifetime. The Hollywood Reporter cites low ratings as a primary reason for Lifetime’s decision to drop the show, even though they had originally made the optimistic move of renewing the show for a second season before its first even premiered.

The series boasted a star-studded cast: Besides Badgley, familiar faces like John Stamos and Shay Mitchell appeared on the show. It was also in seemingly good hands with showrunner Greg Berlanti, the mind behind everything from high school drama (Dawson’s Creek, Riverdale, Love, Simon) to superhero shows (Arrow, Supergirl).

Interestingly, Berlanti is also a producer on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which, like You, was meant to air on live TV but ultimately moved to Netflix. Sabrina, which was meant to be on The CW along with its sister show Riverdale, found success and popularity on the streaming service, so who’s to say the same can’t happen for You?

You is based on a Caroline Kepnes novel of the same name, which has a sequel called Hidden Bodies. According to THR, the series will continue to follow the books in season two and focus on Badgley's character, whose love-turned-obsession proves to be more and more dangerous as he starts taking out anything and anyone that stands between him and the woman he "loves."

Season one will be available to stream on Netflix starting December 26, so if you haven’t seen the show yet, you’ll want to get caught up before season two drops.
