Dating in college can be really difficult. While I love a good party as much as anyone else, it is hard to get to know someone as music blares from the speakers while you’re jammed in a tiny living room. It is just not the right environment to invoke any sort of romance. Dating apps have made the opportunities for college romance or hookups (if that is what you are looking for) seem endless. Yes, there is the occasional bad Tinder date, but you have to admit dating apps have really upped the college dating game.
Now, thanks to Tinder U, college students today can have whatever college dating experience they are looking for.
The new feature is available to anyone who has an .edu email address and logs in on their college campus. It essentially removes Tinder users in the nearby towns or cities who don’t go to college in the area. Basically, you don’t have to worry about the 18-year-old high school seniors clogging your swipe feed. It’s a new way to connect with students at your school or at another 4 year university close by. Best of all, you can easily turn off the feature to go back to regular Tinder.
“Need a study buddy? Not a problem. Coffee date on the quad? We’ve got you covered. Freshman year and you don’t know a soul? This is your ticket to the coolest crowd on campus,” according to the Tinder website. But, Tinder isn’t the place you usually go to find a “study buddy."
When you have the Tinder U feature on, a filter of each users college is placed on their profiles. Therefore, you can see if your match is on campus or at a nearby school. It seems pretty simple to me.
Not everyone on social media is down for the new college dating app though:
For when you are fresh out of meal swipes
Matching with freshman boys on tinder so u can get meal swipes. Huge mood

“Called Tinder U, it is primarily a dating service, but can also be used to find new friends, a study partner and more.” 😂 https://t.co/mcNMhOzZlq

So you don't really need a dating app to find romance or a hookup, but if you want one, I say go for it.
Maybe even give this new app feature a try because your next tryst might be just around the corner (or on the quad).
