Every girl goes through phases. There's the blue eyeshadow period of middle school, the prep school look and of course, the rebellious punk, among others. When you think of Ivanka Trump, you probably see poised style and sensible fashion choices, not an angsty punk rocker. But alas, according to The Cut, it was once true...kind of.
In her mother's memoir, Raising Trump, Ivanka comments on her teenage “punk phase.” She writes, "In the nineties, I was really into Nirvana. My wardrobe consisted of ripped corduroy jeans and flannel shirts." Sure it did, Ivanka...sure it did. She goes on to describe an incident with blue hair dye. “One day after school, I dyed my hair blue. Mom wasn’t a fan of this decision. She took one look at me and immediately went out to the nearest drugstore to buy a $10 box of Nice n' Easy. That night, she forced me to dye my hair back to blond. The color she picked out was actually three shades lighter than my natural color…and I have never looked back!"
Obviously, Twitter had some words. Users took to the platform to mock Ivanka's childhood and troll her so-called #punklife.
Ivanka saying she had a punk phase bc she was into Nirvana is like Taylor Swift saying she had a goth phase bc she was into Avril Lavigne.

Some brought up the good old days of Hot Topic fashion.
Glad to see Ivanka accidentally walking into a Hot Topic once counts as news now. https://t.co/n5G3b7ILin

While we're not quite sure just how truly "punk" Ivanka Trump was, we can certainly relate to having a weird phase here and there.
