Bring out the tissues, because the cuteness of this story is too much to handle. Guys, a dog rescued a drowning baby deer in New York on Sunday. There, I said it.
Mark Freeley was walking his dogs near the Long Island Sound, when Storm jumped into the water and swam after something. The English golden retriever, well, retrieved a baby deer who was drowning in the sound. The owner said the dog grabbed the fawn by its neck and pulled it into the shore, with his owner saying, "Good boy, Storm! Bring him in!" Storm is my ultimate hero. Like are you joking? A CUTE DOG SAVED A BABY DEER.
Once Storm brought the baby to shore, he started nuzzling it and pawing it to make sure it was okay. *heart melts* The owner called an animal rescue team, but when the two rescuers arrived, the baby deer got scared and ran into the water again. The poor little thing. One of the rescuers swam after the deer and one woman ran a mile down to the shore to help carry the baby deer to their car.
The fawn was full of ticks and had bruises on its head, but now it's in recovery and expected to be released within a few months. Thank goodness that Storm noticed the little deer and jumped in after it. I hope that one day my dog would have the kindness, bravery and talent to rescue a little fawn from the depths of frigid New York waters. UGH this feel good story is too good to be true.
