A regular on the coveted Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway, Maria Borges has just become the new spokesmodel for internationally acclaimed makeup brand L’Oréal Paris. Maria has been modeling since 2010, and has represented several other brands, like Chanel and Givenchy, but made headlines last year for being the first model to walk on the VS runway with her natural hair.
In a statement, the model explained, "I believe in the beauty of diversity and the empowering message that a girl who started from the bottom can be an international beauty symbol and be living proof that our dreams are valid, and the future ahead of us is bright." I’m not crying, you’re crying.
This announcement comes alongside L’Oréal’s UK campaign that included several influencers of diverse body types, ethnicities, and abilities.
Will other brands follow suit in the push for diversity and inclusion in the beauty sphere?
