According to The Verge, OKCupid just added the one question to its questionnaire that could make or break the romantic connections you’ve been seeking—“Trump?”
This March, the online dating service will be launching a revamped mobile app with a brand new category of questions, covering relevant topical issues to 2017. OKCupid is known for its probing yet fun questions that mysteriously factor into an algorithm that creates match percentages between users. More evergreen categories were getting the job done in the pre-Trump days. But in the midst of a heavy political climate, 50 questions will be added to a new "2017" category, “covering everything from ghosting to Trump, from climate change to student debt — the things you want to know a person’s stance on before you meet them,” according to OKCupid.
According to The Verge, some of the other potential dealbreaker questions being added include “Is climate change real? and “Do you feel that there should be a ban on immigrants from predominantly Muslim countries entering the U.S.?”
OKCupid’s goal is that these questions will create deeper, more meaningful connections. After all, answers to these questions are definitely what you'd want to know about a potential partner before getting super serious, and similar answers could even be a source of bonding.
‘Tis the season for Valentine’s Day vibes meeting political drama. I can dig it.
