The teen was found in Walterboro, S.C., living under a different name, Fox News reported.
“She appears to be a normal, 18-year-old woman,” Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams told Fox News. “She has a lot to process, a lot to think about.”
Mobley was taken from her 16-year-old mom’s hospital room by a woman dressed as a nurse, the International Business Times reported.
Over the nearly two decades since her disappearance, authorities have released sketches of both the victim and suspect as well as the surveillance footage obtained of the kidnapping. Thousands of potential leads came in across the country, but it was only last year that a tip about Walterboro, S.C. was received. DNA tests concluded the woman was Mobley.
Police arrested the 51-year-old Gloria Williams, whom Mobley was living with in Walterboro, on charges of kidnapping, according to CBS News.
Mobley’s family is rejoicing after the news of her discovery and the possibility of a reunion—and according to CBS, they've already all talked on Facetime. Mobley has been reported to be healthy and safe, a happy ending to this incredible story.
