If you have followed Pretty Little Liars from the beginning, then you know that I. Marlene King and her crew love to leave us worried sick about our favorite characters. As usual, we have more questions than answers, and this year has been proof of that. Here are five times that our favorite show slayed the year... and our hearts.
1. The end of Spoby
Spoby is by far one of the top ships of the PLL fan base. Even though it was clear that their love for each other could not be saved within the confines of a relationship, it was heartbreaking watching them move on. Although we are excited for Haleb being back together for Toby’s upcoming wedding, we are sad that Spencer hasn’t found ‘the one’ (even if she and Caleb being together didn’t make much sense to begin with).
2. Hanna’s disappearance(s)
This year had us screaming at our screens when we first saw that Hanna had been taken from the gang at the Lost Woods Resort. We were witness to her unconscious body being dragged and branded, as well as the hallucinations leading to her escape. But we also had to undergo the chaos entailing the kidnapping (and eventual self-decapitation) of Noel Kahn. Hanna abandoned her loved ones to get answers from the ultimate fuckboy himself. As if he was actually going to give her any, at least we know from the finale that he won’t be around come the start of 7B.
3. The Ezria struggles
Aria and Ezra’s relationship has always been complicated. This year we were introduced to a decaying Ezra and a hopeless Aria begging for him to finish the new book. Whenever you put these two together the sparks are undeniable. From frenemies, to fiancés, and finally not knowing where they stand after Nicole was found alive… what should we expect next from this dynamic duo?
4. The death of Sara Harvey
Sara had some serious answers. She was a key informant for both the liars and the A-Team. Even though we still hate her for what she did to Emily, it appears she was low-key ensuring the girls’ safety. Her death at The Radley was a shock and we want to know how exactly Sara got so entwined with A.D. and why her death was necessary.
5. Alison is pregnant
Alison has obviously been through a lot this season… Scratch that, throughout the entire series. Having been physically and mentally abused by Rollins/Archer/Whoever he is, she is definitely one to keep an eye on. The poor girl has always been in trouble, but now she is carrying the spawn of the man who more than likely was aiming for her death. With Emily as her confidante, we should be concerned about the romance and struggle that having a baby liar around could entail.
A lot has happened this year in Rosewood. We can’t wait to finally get all of the answers that we’ve been holding out for in 2017… hopefully.
