Rachel Lindsay Clapped Back So Hard at This Former 'Bachelor' Contestant's Racist Tweet

If you’ve been watching Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette, you’re probably well aware of the drama contestant Lee has been causing. During this week’s episode, the “southern gentleman” received a rose despite picking fights with another contestant, Kenny. Lee has also been criticized for his past racist tweets.

While live-tweeting the episode Monday night, Rachel dispelled any future with Lee by clapping back at a post by former Bachelor contestant Leah Block. Block appeared on Ben Higgins’ season; you might remember she made accusations against Lauren Bushnell to stir up trouble.

Refinery29 reports that Block took a stab at the diversity of Rachel’s men. She tweeted, “I'm sitting here watching @BacheloretteABC and my roommate just sat down on the couch and said, 'What is this? @LoveAndHipHop_?' DEAD."

For those who are unfamiliar, Love & Hip Hop is a reality show on VH1 with a mainly African American cast.

Astrid Loch, who competed on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor alongside Rachel, was quick to reply to Block with a sharp-tongued tweet. "Are you watching with Lee," she asked.

Even better, Rachel weighed in on the racist tweet herself, foreshadowing Lee’s future boot from the season. "Let me know if she wants to meet Lee...they sound like they would have a lot in common," she responded.

Block’s tweets and entire Twitter account have since been deleted, but thank goodness for screenshots.

We’re just glad to know Lee's time on the show is almost over.

'Bachelor in Paradise' Will Resume Filming After Investigation Found No Misconduct

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television has announced that Bachelor in Paradise will resume filming after an investigation found that no misconduct occurred on set.

Filming for Season 4 of the ABC show was suspended after allegations of misconduct were made. The reported incident involved DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios and whether they were too intoxicated to provide consent for a sexual encounter. Though the public still has many unanswered questions, an official investigation has reportedly set the record straight.

In a statement, Warner Bros. explained, “Our internal investigation, conducted with the assistance of an outside law firm, has now been completed. Out of respect for the privacy interests of those involved, we do not intend to release the videotape of the incident. We can say, however, that the tape does not support any charge of misconduct by a cast member. Nor does the tape show, contrary to many press reports, that the safety of any cast member was ever in jeopardy. Production on this season of Bachelor in Paradise will be resuming, and we plan to implement certain changes to the show’s policies and procedures to enhance and further ensure the safety and security of all participants.”

An ABC spokesperson also released a statement. "We appreciate the swift and complete investigation by Warner Bros. into allegations of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise. Given their results, the series will resume production, and will air this summer on ABC."

We can't help but wonder how this off-screen controversy will affect not only future filming but also what we see when Season 4 of BIP airs.

This Adorable Golden Retriever Photobombed All These Google Street Photos

In the cutest news of the day, a golden retriever photobombed all of the Google street map photos on an island in South Korea.

It's a pretty remote place—in fact, only three people live on the island of Jukdo, according to a 2004 census. It's less than half a mile long, and since there are no roads to travel on, Google Maps provider Daum used a backpack to film the scenery instead of driving the Google car.

As it turned out, the most adorable and friendly golden retriever dog followed the Google mapper throughout the filming process sometime since July 2010. He's like this loyal little sidekick wandering through neighborhoods, parks and oceanside trails. Needless to say, I've found my next hiking buddy.

Also this seems like the best job ever – I want to travel to a remote island and hang out with a pup for work. As Robert Frost once said, take the road less traveled by and you might find a cute fluffy dog. I'm getting serious Marley and Me flashbacks thinking how sad it must've been to part ways once the filming was done.

At least now when you go on street maps, you can try to look for this surprise doggo to make your day. I say that from now on, Google has dogs follow all their street mappers everywhere. Please?

Otto Warmbier's Death Could Make Peace Talks With North Korea Much Harder

$

After President Trump took office, he declared that North Korea would be his biggest global challenge. Otto Warmbier’s death this past week only worsened an already complex and unpredictable situation.

Warmbier, who was just 22 years old, died Monday after returning home in a coma from North Korea, where he had been imprisoned for supposedly stealing a poster from his hotel in January 2016. According to neurologists, the young man likely had no chance of recovering from the brain damage he suffered while he was held captive.

In a statement, President Trump said Warmbier’s death only strengthened his resolve "to prevent such tragedies from befalling innocent people at the hands of regimes that do not respect the rule of law or basic human decency.”

Trump’s administration was also quick to point out that North Korea had a heavy hand in killing Warmbier. "The United States once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as we mourn its latest victim," the statement read.

This isn’t even close to the end of tensions with Kim Jong-Un. North Korea still has three American prisoners. And a nuclear program.

“I believe [Warmbier’s death] is going to set back any serious discussion about a diplomatic dialogue until this is cleared up,” Bill Richardson, the former governor of New Mexico and an expert on North Korea, told The New York Times. “I think the first objective has to be to get the three other Americans out, and get a full explanation of what happened to Otto Warmbier.”

Cheng Xiaohe, a Chinese professor of international relations who also spoke to The Times, added that Warmbier’s death could set “hard-liners” in Trump’s administration starkly against any peace negotiations with North Korea. “I believe the U.S. will not let the issue slip away quietly and will take retaliatory actions soon if North Korea fails to make a conciliatory move regarding the detainees,” Xiaohe said.

Even if North Korea somehow decided tomorrow to set free its American detainees, there would still be the immense problem of North Korea’s nuclear testing.

According to CNN, North Korea has already tested out a number of missiles this year, along with engines that could be used to make their weapons reach distant targets.

The Trump administration has called on China, a North Korean ally, to do more to stifle North Korean nuclear aspirations. The Times reports that Chinese and American officials are due to meet this week, but a plan on North Korea might not be likely. Although China called Warmbier’s death a “tragedy,” it did not denounce North Korea’s treatment of him.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in is also set to meet with Trump this month to discuss North Korean relations. Moon is expected to push for the U.S. to talk with Kim Jong-Un. However, Warmbier’s death is likely too fresh in the minds of Americans for peaceful talks with North Korea—especially if they don’t release the rest of their American hostages.

Kim Kardashian Speaks Out About That KKW Beauty Blackface Controversy

Another day, another Kardashian kontroversy. Kim Kardashian is in the process of expanding her business empire, as the launch of her very own beauty line is fast approaching. Last week, the reality star tweeted a promotional photo for her makeup line, KKW Beauty, but the photo drew more concern than excitement.

Twitter users were quick to point out that Kim's skin in the photo looks unnaturally dark and accused her of intentionally using blackface to promote her crème contours and highlighters. Apparently, the star heard the message loud and clear because a significantly lighter photo was posted to her beauty account the following day. Unfortunately for Kim, this didn't quiet the critics.

Many fans came to Kim's defense, suggesting her darker coloring was a typical California tan or the work of contouring.

Kim addressed the blackface allegations in an interview with The New York Times. "I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it."

She continued, "Of course, I have the utmost respect for why people might feel the way they did. But we made the necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos. We saw the problem, and we adapted and changed right away. Definitely I have learned from it."

Despite public concern, the photo has not been removed from Kim's Twitter account. In fact, the lighter version is currently her profile picture.

Steve Bannon Avoided a Reporter's Question by Fat-Shaming Sean Spicer

White House Press Secretaries typically give daily briefings to the media on camera, and Sean Spicer did the same at the beginning of President Donald Trump's term. But we've been seeing less of Spicer's face on television lately. So why have they started happening only off-camera?

The Atlantic looked into why the White House has been slowly getting rid of press briefings, moving them off-camera and saying that audio from them cannot be used by reporters. Spicer addressed the press on camera on June 12 and next on June 20, which is more than a week without daily briefings, according to HuffPost. Trump himself hasn't held a full press conference since February (which CNN called "an amazing moment in history"). Journalists are starting to feel that the briefings they're attending are useless because pressing questions are never answered.

When The Atlantic tried to get to the bottom of why these briefings are now done only off-camera, White House chief strategist Steve Bannon responded in a text message with only three words: "Sean got fatter." As in, the only reason press briefings can't be on camera is because Spicer is uncomfortable being seen on camera after gaining some weight.

Not only does the comment avoid the reporter's real question, but it also seems a little inappropriate coming from a White House official. Why can't Trump's administration just be honest?

Lucy Hale Called Herself 'Fat'& The Internet Had Something to Say About It

In today’s social media-driven world, someone is always watching for a like or a comment, a follow or an unfollow, or a deleted post.

On Sunday, Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale took to Instagram to celebrate Father’s Day with a picture of her and her dad. The picture appeared to be from a formal event, possibly a few years ago. However, the cute dad-daughter pic wasn’t the only thing her followers took notice of. In the comments section of her picture, Hale said to hair stylist Scotty Cunha, “ugh I was so fat.”

You taught me to have soul. I love you daddy.

A post shared by Lucy Hale (@lucyhale) on

Refinery29 shared in an article about Hale's post that "fat" is a body type, not an insult. Also, "fat" is not an accurate description of Lucy's body in this picture.

In a screenshot from the comments section of Lucy's post, as seen on The Daily Mail, one Instagram user reminded Hale that she's a role model for many young girls, and talking negatively and inaccurately about her body does nothing to promote their self esteem. "'Fat'? You look a healthy size. Joking or nit [sic], you should be aware if [sic] your audience and recognize that kids look up to you and when trying to immulate [sic] you they could possibly be looking in the mirror saying 'ugh, I'm so fat.'"

Hale has since deleted the comment and apologized on Twitter. "Sometimes I forget that people are watching everything I do and I say things I don't mean," Lucy wrote. "I'm extremely sorry if my comment about my weight offended anyone. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. I know people look up to me and I should be way more aware of what I say sometimes. Thanks for all the love and support. Hope y'all can forgive me!"

Lucy handled this situation with grace by owning up to her mistakes and apologizing, and she has reminded us of the importance of embracing all body types—because we are all beautiful.

This Is How to Get Kendall Jenner's Perfect Brows

$

Stars… they’re just like us! Even though you would never guess that Kendall Jenner had fallen prey to some of the early 2000s trends that still haunt many of us to this day, she’s the first to admit that she did. Although she was in the public eye while filming Keeping Up With The Kardashians as a child, and had the influence of her three fashionable older sisters (although the jury is still out on how fashionable the trio really were during that time), Kendall still fell victim to the worst '00s trend of them all: over-plucked eyebrows. The Victoria's Secret model goes so far as to call her sparse brows her “biggest beauty regret.”

Looking at Kendall now though, you would never be able to guess that she too had an unfortunate eyebrow past. Kendall recently shared on her app how she craftily covers up her past mistakes and creates her flawless, jealousy-inducing arch.

Her makeup artist, Mary Phillips, who has also worked with celebs like Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, Bella Hadid, and, naturally, some of the other Kardashian sisters, explained how Kendall’s brows stay flawless all day. The first step is to contour (as if contouring your face wasn’t enough work!): "You want to create dimension in your brows, just as you do with the skin, eyes and lips. Think of using a few different shades in the brow area as your 'brow contour.' It's how you get those lush off-duty model brows.” Don’t worry, this isn’t as complicated as it sounds. Start by using a lighter color towards the start of your brow (the part closest to the inner corner of your eye) and subtly blend that colour into a darker shade, sot that your brow is the darkest at the arch. A kit like the Too Faced Brow Envy Brow Shaping & Defining Kit ($39 at Sephora) makes this easy to do by including two shades of brow powder.

A post shared by Kendall (@kendalljenner) on

Mary finishes the look by “flicking” the brow hairs, explaining that "Lush brows with soft edges are much more pleasing to the eye.” To do this, you can either use your fingers (they’re free!), or, if the idea of using your fingers to finish applying makeup grosses you out, you can use a spoolie brush, like this $1.99 one from Morphe Brushes, to get the same results.

BRB trying all these tricks!

What You Need to Know About the Georgia Special Election

$
0
0

A seat is open in Congress and the country is excited to see who will fill it Tuesday night. After Georgia's 6th district Rep. Tom Price became the new Health Secretary, the state's special election became very important—to lawmakers and voters alike.

The Candidates

The stakes are high for Republican Karen Handel and Democrat Jon Ossoff. According to The New York Times, the initial votes resulted in 48 percent for Ossoff and 51 percent combined for several Republican candidates. This forced a runoff between Ossoff and Handel, the top Republican candidate. Handel is a long-time conservative, according to her website, and is known for attacking "extreme liberals" through campaign ads and her other website DangerousJonOssoff.com. Ossoff's campaign calls him a "warrior against corruption."His website says he was a Congressional aide and journalist, and now he is dedicated to exposing and fighting abuses of power in our government. According to The Hill, Democrats are looking to him as someone who can help energize opponents of Trump's administration.

The Cost

This special election is the most expensive one in the House yet. The Times reports most of the $28 million total going to Ossoff, who has rising support from states around the U.S. In fact, only 14 percent of his money actually came from people in Georgia. California and New York were his biggest donors, which is no surprise since they're known as Democratic states. Handel got outside help too, but from independent groups that exclusively support Republicans. Most of her money comes from Georgia, which may help her in the vote.

The Outcome

The importance of this special election is clear for Democrats, Republicans and President Donald Trump himself (when is his reputation NOT at stake?). While Trump didn't win this district, the seat has been historically Republican. If Ossoff wins, CNN reports, the Democrats will have a better chance at winning a majority in the house. If Handel wins, CNN says Republicans will feel reassured "that they can still rely on a strategy of turning out their base in Republican-leaning districts, even if Trump is unpopular there." The polls don't close until Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Eastern time, and the race has been too close to call since April. Both parties are on the edges of their Congressional seats!

Those Reports About Wonder Woman Being Paid WAY Less Than Superman Turned Out to Be False

Wonder Woman might just be the movie of the summer, and we can totally see why. With a fierce actress like Gal Gadot and an incredible director like Patty Jenkins, the girl power is through the roof. However, a story that was circulating earlier today suggested that although the movie has already grossed $274 million domestically and is still going strong, Gadot was no different from every other woman working in a man's world.

Many outlets, including Cosmopolitan, were originally reporting that Gal received $300,000 for her role as Wonder Woman, a vastly different sum than the reported $14 million Henry Cavill made playing Superman in Man of Steel, which grossed $290 million domestically.

Variety reported in 2014 that Gal had signed a contract with Warner Bros. that stated she would make $300,000 for each DC movie she did. This was a base amount and didn't include any possible bonuses she might make on top of that.

However, after speaking with sources close to the situation, BuzzFeed reported Gadot made "at least" as much money for Wonder Woman as Cavill made for Man of Steel. According to their source, Cavill did not make anywhere near $14 million for the Superman flick.

Although this story turned out to be inaccurate, women still have a long way to go.

Corinne Olympios's Legal Team Is Moving Forward With Their Own Investigation into the 'Bachelor in Paradise' Incident

$

Despite a statement from Warner Bros. that said that the investigation into a possible incident of sexual misconduct between contestants Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson on Bachelor in Paradise had concluded, things might not be over just yet.

Only hours after Warner Bros's announcement, Corinne's lawyer Martin Singer has released a statement to the Hollywood Reporter saying that her legal team plans to continue with its own investigation into what happened on set.

"It needs to be made crystal clear that production of Bachelor in Paradise was shut down because of multiple complaints received from BIP producers and crewmembers on the set. It was not shut down due to any complaint filed by Corinne against anyone," the statement reads. "It comes as no surprise that Warner Bros., as a result of its own internal investigation, would state that no wrongdoing had occurred. Our own investigation will continue based on multiple new witnesses coming forward revealing what they saw and heard."

Bachelor in Paradise's producers have confirmed that the show is still set to premiere this summer, but a source reportedly told E! News that Corinne may not be returning to the show, confirming that she never actually filed a complaint about the incident herself. Despite these rumors, ABC hasn't released any kind of information about who is returning to finish filming season four either.

While we still have tons of questions, it's looking like Warner Bros's earlier statement won't be the final word on what really happened this season.

15 Beach Reads You Won't Be Able to Put Down This Summer

$

Without a doubt, the best time of the year to read is summer. There’s no pressure to finish that monstrosity of a book for a lit class, and you finally have time to tackle that massive book bucket list you’ve compiled.

Whether you’re in the mood for heavy historical fiction or some fluffy contemporary romance, you definitely deserve some uninterrupted, intense reading time this summer. Below are 15 beach reads that you won’t be able to stop cruising through before school starts again.

1. Once and For All by Sarah Dessen

To be fair, any Sarah Dessen book is an excellent beach read, but going off the assumption that you grew up obsessed with her books, you’ll want to read her newest book this year. In this story, a girl works at her mom’s wedding planning business, making it a perfect read for June when everyone is getting married.

2. Americanahby Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Just because school isn’t in session doesn’t mean that you should stay away from challenging content that puts things in a new light. Follow Ifemelu as she moves from Nigeria to the United States in pursuit of education and discovers new things about love and race along the way.

3. The Interestingsby Meg Wolitzer

The Interestings is about a group of longtime friends that initially meet at a summer arts camp and then try to pursue artistic lives as they grow. If you have younger siblings who still get to go to camp while you’re stuck in a full-time job, live vicariously through this long but immersive read!

4. Usby David Nicholls

From the same author who wrote One Day, Us is another somewhat serious read about a couple and their teenage son touring Europe after the wife has told her husband that she may want a divorce. This definitely will fulfill your summer wanderlust, but the gorgeous writing and flashback scenes will keep you so invested in these characters.

5. Queen of Babbleseries by Meg Cabot

You probably devoured Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries series back in middle school, but how many of her other books have you read? She has so many great works to choose from, but her Queen of Babble books cover a blabbermouth fashionista’s post-college adventures, so collegiettes are definitely the perfect audience for these.

6. Amy & Roger’s Epic Detourby Morgan Matson

How would you react if you ended up on a summer road trip with your mom’s friend’s cute son before moving cross country? Fans of the slow-burn romance trope will love Matson’s novel that’s complete with actual road trip playlists.

7. Rebeccaby Daphne du Maurier

If you want to shake in your sandals at the beach this year, then the classic creepiness of Rebecca is for you. The unnamed narrator marries a rich man whose mansion feels haunted by his dead first wife. Alfred Hitchcock adapted this book into an Oscar-winning film, so check out the movie once you’ve finished the book!

8. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Beforeseries by Jenny Han

The third and final book of this fluffy trilogy was just released, so in honor of the narrator finishing high school in the last book, these are ideal reads if you’re starting college soon and dealing with a lot of change this summer.

9. To the Moon and Backby Jill Mansell

I recommend anything by British author Jill Mansell, whose books feel like a written equivalent of films like Love Actually. To the Moon and Back is about Ellie building a new life to cope with her husband’s sudden death. It has everything a good read should have—a relatable narrator, cute love interest, enviable English setting and a fun best friend with her own entertaining subplot.

10. Life After Lifeby Kate Atkinson

If you’re a history fan, Life After Life is a must read. Something magical happens when Ursula is born in 1910, and the reader begins to explore several alternative timelines of her life, eventually delving into both World Wars. Treat yourself with this one!

11. Dept. of Speculationby Jenny Offill

In need of a quick but satisfying read? Comprised of short vignettes about married life from a wife’s perspective, Dept. of Speculation is perfect for a rainy day at the shore or one of those steamy afternoons that are way too hot for you to do anything else.

12. The Girl You Left Behindby Jojo Moyes

Chances are you already read Moyes’s tearjerker Me Before You, but her other books are definitely worth a try too. In The Girl You Left Behind, the narration flips between France during World War I and modern London, telling the stories of two women who are connected by a painting. Any book that counts as historical and contemporary is a win for me.

13. Someday, Someday, Maybeby Lauren Graham

Our favorite Gilmore Girl most recently wrote her memoir, but before that, she tried her hand at fiction writing with Someday, Someday, Maybe. Loosely based on Graham’s own experiences, the book introduces a struggling New York actress trying to make it big before her self-imposed deadline to change her career.

14. Hamilton: The Revolutionby Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter

You might not want to lug this one to the beach, but checking out the behind-the-scenes insight into this American musical phenomenon is definitely a great way to spend a few lazy hours.

15. Modern Romanceby Aziz Ansari and Eric Klinenberg

If you’re lacking in your own summer romance this year, try out Parks and Recreation star Aziz Ansari’s in-depth look at love in today’s culture. Whether your romantic struggles start from texting with a crush or trying online dating, the book provides a funny and scientific exploration into what love means today.

While fashion still has a long way to go when it comes to diverse represenation, Allure magazine just made a huge step in the right direction, making Halima Aden the first Muslim model to grace a major glossy cover wearing a hijab.

Aden's cover is part of the magazine's "American Beauty" issue, and the up-and-coming 19-year-old model is not only groundbreaking, but also gorgeous in a Nike hijab and a very July-appropriate red, white and blue athleisure look. In other words, the girl is killing it.

Say hello to #HalimaAden—the first hijab-wearing model to a) sign to IMG, b) walk in a Yeezy Season fashion show, c) compete in Miss Minnesota USA, and d) cover #allure. Get to know the 19-year-old Somalian American model, who’s breaking down every boundary in the fashion industry. “Society puts so much pressure on girls to look a certain way,” she says. “I have much more to offer than my physical appearance, and a hijab protects me against ‘You’re too skinny,’ ‘You’re too thick,’ ‘Look at her hips,’ ‘Look at her thigh gap.’ I don’t have to worry about that.” Tap the link in bio for our full interview. : @solvesundsbostudio : @beatbolliger : @philippetholimet : @thevalgarland : @mariannewman

In her cover interview, Aden also breaks down the stereotypes about Muslim women - offering an important reminder that wearing a hijab is her choice and no one else's. "It’s how I interpret my religion, but there are women who are Muslim who choose not to wear the hijab," she told the magazine. "That’s something people often forget." PREACH.

This won't be the last time you hear her name, either. This year alone, Aden has also walked the runway for major designers, including Yeezy, and starred in a Vogue shoot. (NBD or anything.)

People Are Getting Emotional Over This Gay Couple's Adorable Photo from a Pride Parade 24 Years Ago

If you identify as LGBTQ, you've probably rolled your eyes at some point while being told that your sexuality is "just a phase." Even though it's obviously a stereotype, a gay couple shattered this misconception about LGBTQ couples with one photo - and the Internet is obsessed.

BuzzFeed News reports that 54-year-old Nick Cardello and 52-year-old Nick English recently celebrated their 25th anniversary by heading down to Washington D.C. to attend the Equality March last Sunday. While there, they managed to re-create a photo they took together at the same event, in the exact same location in 1993, and shared a side-by-side of the two photos on Facebook. Naturally, it was adorable - and clearly, the everyone agreed, because the photos also almost instantly went viral.

The best part? Some (genius) person took the opportunity to tweet the photos with the caption, "it's just a phase," completely shattering stereotypes about LGBTQ peoples' sexuality in the process. Basically, the response Cardello and English's photos received on Twitter will give you hope for humanity:

While the couple was reportedly shocked at the comments at first, Cardello told BuzzFeed News, "When we started reading the comments and were tuned into what it meant to people ... that was really touching," he said.

Aww. #CoupleGoals, am I right?

10 Moments From This Week's 'Pretty Little Liars' That Left Me Shook

Look up “shook” in the dictionary, and you’ll see a picture of me watching this week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars—the last episode before the series finale (*insert sobbing emoji*).

If you watched the episode, these 10 moments definitely left you shook.

1. When the cop didn’t see Archer Dunhill’s decomposing body in Aria’s trunk

Saved by the walkie talkie! I didn’t think that Aria would get caught with Dunhill’s body, but still, that was a close call.

Shook level: 3/10

2. When Aria was talking to Dunhill’s body in the car

I don’t think Aria has ever been more relatable than she was in this moment. If you can’t confide in the dead body in your trunk, who can you confide in?

Shook level: 6/10

3. When I realized that sequence from Five Years Forward was all a dream

I’ve been waiting to get to this flash forward for a season and a half. And it’s just Emily having a gas leak-induced dream? Really?

Shook level: 8/10

4. When Mona was threatening Charlotte

I just thought I was scared of Mona before. Her threats to Charlotte were viscous, and I never doubted a word she said.

Shook level: 8/10

5. When Mona almost threw Hanna out of the bell tower because she thought she was Charlotte

Since Mona’s officially off her rocker at this point, she mistook Hanna for Charlotte and almost threw her from the bell tower. Caleb stepped in just in time to save her because of course he did.

Shook level: 2/10

6. When the Liars decided NOT to play into A.D.’s hand

Aria said it best: “If we want to stop the crazy, we have to stop acting crazy.” YAASS! You finally get it!

Shook level: 10/10

7. When Mary took the fall for Archer Dunhill’s murder

The Liars thought Tanner had them, and then Mary confessed to killing Dunhill. Tanner was content with this development even though she knew it wasn’t the truth. Mary’s gesture was sweet, but why couldn’t the girls just say it was an accident? Why does anyone have to go to jail?

Shook level: 6/10

8. When Mona explained that Charlotte’s death was an accident

Mona and Charlotte got in a tussle in the bell tower, and Mona accidentally pushed Charlotte into a piece of exposed metal, killing her. I knew there was more to this story.

Shook level: 3/10

9. When the game ended

Seriously? The game is over before the series finale even begins? I’m not buying it.

Shook level: 9/10

10. When A.D. drove off into the sunset

Okay, there is no way A.D. is getting away with this, right? RIGHT?!

Shook level: 11/10

How to Narrow Down Your College Application List So You Won’t Have Regrets

When you first start looking into where to apply to college, it can be easy to add 20 schools to your list, thinking you’ll apply to all of them, you know, just in case — but when it actually comes down to writing those essays and paying those application fees, applying to every school you’ve ever considered just isn’t realistic. While it can be scary to try to narrow down the list (#NoRegrets, am I right?), there are ways to ensure you won’t be wondering what could have been when acceptance letters are sent out in the spring.

Make a decision about your major

You may be stuck with a list of 20 colleges you think you want to apply to — but one of the easiest ways to rule a few out is to consider the strength of each school’s program for your area of academic interest. If you’re thinking business, which schools have been recognized or ranked for their business schools? What percentage of students at each school graduate with your chosen major? Which schools boast clubs and career opportunities for your specific academic interest?

“Looking at the reputation of the major/program that I was interested in the most was most important during this process!” Rachna Shah, a freshman at Dartmouth, says of her application process. “It's a good idea to apply to a broad range of schools - ones that are most reputable in your area of interest, but also liberal arts colleges.”

Of course, if you have zero idea what you want to do with your life (No shame!), that’s cool, too. Instead, look into which schools will allow you to explore in a way that won’t put you behind for graduation. Narrowing your interests to a specific area, like STEM vs. the humanities, can help in a major way. While bigger isn’t always better, larger schools may also offer a wider variety of academic programs in case you can't decide on a major just yet.

Consider acceptance rates

Even if you slayed with your junior year grades and killed it on the SAT, it’s still important to apply to schools with a range of acceptance rates. While having a solid application increases your chances of getting into selective schools, it’s never a guarantee. Abby Piper, a junior at the University of Notre Dame, says she wishes she would have had a more well-rounded applications list.

“I made the mistake of applying to top tier schools and then 'back up' in-state schools that were really easy to get into and it worked out, but in the end I think if I would've applied to more middle-of-the-line schools in-between really easy and really hard, I would've had a lot more options,” she says.

If your applications list is still too long, take a look and see if you have too many with extremely high or low acceptance rates — and always make sure you have at least one “safety” school that you’d actually be excited about attending. If you know you basically already have an acceptance letter, but you know deep down you’d never attend, it’s not worth it.

Have a few “financial safeties”

Sure, you’ve heard again and again that you need to apply to “safety schools” where you’re likely to get in — but what about schools you know you’ll be able to afford? It can be easy to fall in love with a private school across the country (because, same). But if everything on your applications list comes along with a hefty dose of sticker shock (and a low percentage of students receiving financial aid), you may want to think about throwing some less expensive schools into the mix.

That doesn’t mean you have to limit your “financial safeties” to massive, public state schools either — be sure to consider potential financial safety schools where you’re more likely to get merit money based on your grades and test scores.

Make visits a priority

While websites and brochures are great, college visits are the best way to know whether a school is a right fit. Some of your schools might seem perfect on paper, but once you step foot on campus, your gut will tell you whether or not it’s the right place for you.

Ideally, visit as many of your favorite schools as you can before applying — but if this isn't an option, Cara Milhaven, a junior at Villanova, says that talking to current students can also help you get an idea of whether or not you can see yourself at a given school.

“I'd suggest reaching out to current students there,” she says. “It was really helpful for me to be able to talk to current students from my high school that were going to the colleges I was interested in, so I could get a better sense of what each campus's atmosphere was really like.”

Either way, it’s important to think outside the brochure when it comes to truly knowing whether you’d be happy at a school.

Look at the big picture

It can be hard to picture your future when you still haven’t decided whether you want Chipotle or Panera for lunch, but bear with me; think about where you see yourself heading after graduation. Do you want to live in a big city or a small town? Where are job and internship opportunities for your major? Do you want to study abroad? If your dream is to be a journalist based in a big city, think about crossing a few rural schools off your list. Try to visualize why going to a specific school would help you get to where you want to be in four years and avoid applying to the ones that you can’t make the case for.

If you have a list of about three times the amount of colleges you’re physically capable of applying to, don’t panic yet. When you take the time to figure out what’s really important to you about a potential school, narrowing down your list will be easier than you think!
