Everything You Need to Know About Storing Your Winter Clothes

$

0

Though the temperatures may suggest otherwise, it's officially springtime! Depending on where you live, you may still need your winter gear for a few more weeks (fingers crossed it's way less than that), but soon enough you'll be shedding those layers for good. As you get ready to whip out your warm weather wardrobe, be sure to take proper care of your down jacket and cozy sweaters because you will need them again next season. Here are the pointers you need to know when it comes to putting your winter clothing into storage!

Wash everything—especially your coats!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize you should probably wash the clothes you're about to put away for months, but you can easily forget if you're in a rush to say goodbye anything winter-related! By winter's end, your main coat has probably gone through the ringer. Whether it's a wool cocoon coat or down parka, give it one last thorough wash. Letting any stains sit on the fabric for too long could make them permanent. Make sure to read the label on your jacket; most wool coats must be dry cleaned as do delicate sweaters. If you're machine washing a down coat, throw some tennis balls into the dryer to prevent the stuffing from clumping together.

Avoid creases and folds in your tall boots by using shapers.

The last thing you want to find out in the fall is that your favorite pair of leather boots are now slouchy boots. You have nothing against slouchy boots, but it's not exactly what you had in mind for your tall riding boots. Retailers like Amazon and Bed Bath & Beyond sell an array of shapers that will help your boots retain their shape. If your aim is just to keep them standing upright, fabric shapers are a cute and practical option. For a firmer shape holder, try the plastic variety or even a boot rack. Rolled up newspapers or magazines work fine too if you're on an extra tight budget.

Fend off moths with cedar blocks and lavender sachets.

Even if you've never actually seen one lurking in your closet, moths problems do exist and can be pretty bad. These pesky insects must have a vendetta against us because one day you have a pristine wool or cashmere sweater and the next you have a half eaten garment with holes everywhere. Mothballs are the classic remedy, but they can smell far from pleasant, so try hanging cedar blocks or lavender sachets instead. But for the ultimate protection, your best move is to store moth-prone clothing in airtight bins or bags, which brings us to our next point...

Clothing and moisture don't mix well!

Regardless of the type of fabric, clothing should not be stored in a potentially moist environment, otherwise you're putting it at risk for mold and mildew. If you've kept your winter wear in the attic or basement in previous years, you might want to find it a new home this time. If limited closet space is an issue for you, purchase some underbed drawers or inexpensive, yet sturdy plastic bags to hold your most precious pieces.

Hang up coats, but fold sweaters.

Big coats can take up a lot of closet space, but stuffing them in a drawer or bag is a sure way to create hard-to-remove wrinkles and folds. When it comes to sweaters though, fold them instead! Unless you have magical hangers, most sweaters are bound to fall victim to the dreaded "shoulder bump." Plus they're safer in drawers anyway, as they won't snag on velcro from your coat or any other abrasive objects.

When it comes to Coachella, no one goes all out better than celebrities do. From crazy bold looks to Vanessa Hudgens's weed manicure, the California music festival has it all. Besides hearing great music, you also get to see a great range of styles from bold and boho to absolutely ridic. We rounded up the best—and the craziest—celebrity style picks from this year's event.

The BEST:

1. Freida Pinto

Freida effortlessly turns a casual look into a festival-appropriate outfit. We love the half-unbottoned overall strap to show off her floral top, and her wedges give a touch of glam to this creative look. Well done, Freida!

2. Devon Windsor

This Victoria's Secret model channels her inner free spirit with her stunning flowy halter top.

3. Kendall Jenner

This should not come as a surprise—style It-girl Kendall slays in whatever she wears. Her statement necklaces add an edgy vibe to her feminine dress, which is perfectly loose for dancing and beating the heat.

4. Emma Roberts

Emma definitely dressed to impress in this glamorous dress, platforms, and clutch combo. We love the color palette.

5. Emily Ratajkowski

THAT DRESS. Enough said.

6. Karlie Kloss

Um, can you say badass? Everything about this outfit makes Karlie #goals for Coachella style.

The Craziest:

1. Katy Perry

Katy's notorious for her quirky and eccentric style, and we have to say, only she could pull this look off.

2. Jeremy Scott

We're blinded by the insane amount of bedazzled jewels—but you know what, Jeremy? You do you.

3. Sami Miro

There's definitely... a LOT going on with this look. But we have to admit those cowboy boots are sort of killer.

Leonardo DiCaprio & Rihanna Fuel Romance Rumors at Coachella

Stop everything: Leonardo DiCaprio and Rihanna were seen partying together at Neon Carnival this weekend. Neon Carnival is an exclusive Coachella after party, and from the looks of it, only A-listers are allowed. The pair kind of disguised themselves among the crowd—Leo more so than Rihanna, in his bandana and ball cap combo.

There's speculation about possible celebrity couples circulating at all times, but the reason this sighting in particular is so exciting? This isn't the first time Leo and Rihanna have sparked some serious romance rumors. Last January, they were supposedly caught making out at the Playboy Mansion before the Golden Globes. They've been spotted together several times since then, too, leaving the masses to believe this after party hang might have been a date. Of course, where celebs are concerned, it's probably best not to assume anything. But hey, there's nothing wrong with dreaming.

7 Ways to Make Your Button-Up Look Chic

For most of us, button-ups are boring. Those shirts are hidden in our closets, only to be worn in the workplace or for an interview. Contrary to popular belief, a button-up can be the most versatile piece of clothing in your wardrobe. It’s one of the only pieces that you can wear season after season. While spring is in full bloom, it’s time to take advantage of one of the most adaptable fashion trends. Check out all the ways you can tranform your tired button-up into a true fashion statement.

1. Keeping It Simple

A button up-and ripped jeans may not sound like the most exciting option, but trust and believe that when you wear this look, you will feel unstoppable. It’s also simple enough that it leaves a lot of room for experimenting. This outfit is perfect for adding a bold piece—whether it’s your nails, lip, shoes, purse, or any accessory.

2. Showing Skin (in All the Right Places)

It’s been a long winter, and spring is the right time to show off a little bit of skin. This button-up and skirt combo provides a well-deserved opportunity to finally shed those winter layers. The high heels and sunglasses are the essential pieces you need to tie the whole outfit together.

3. A Kid Again

Overalls were a staple of our childhood, but when they're paired with a button up t-shirt, they scream fashion-forward. You can also experiment with different styles, lengths, and color of overalls. This outfit is strong enough on its own that you don’t even need to worry about accessorizing. Don’t be afraid to venture back down memory lane with this cute combination.

Related: How to Master Spring Layering

4. Break the Status Quo

This outfit completely breaks any stereotypes about a button-up being boring. With a little DIY action, your button-up can go from bland to flirty. Undo the first few buttons, push it off your shoulders, and knot it at the bottom to create this innovative look. Add an exciting pop of color that lets the world know you are welcoming in the spring.

5. Sweet & Charming

Just because winter is behind us doesn’t mean you've lost your opportunity to layer clothing. A button-up layered under a sleeveless dress is ideal for those days it’s not quite warm enough to bare your arms. An outfit like this is perfect for a day with friends or a night on the town.

6. Sporty Spice

A button-up does not have to be formal. When paired with a pair of sneakers and jogger pants, it will look effortlessly cool—Sporty Spice would be proud.

7. Making a Statement

Adding a statement tie to a button-up is one of the easiest ways to create an edgy look. The great thing about pairing the two together is that the shirt is so simple that you can essentially use any tie with any bold patterns you please.

It’s time to start loving that button-up that’s been hiding in the back of your closet. It may be basic on its own, but it can create so many different outfits that are trendy and fashion-forward. Break the notion that a button-up is boring with a little help from yours truly.

15 Thoughts You Have When People Say You Have an "Easy" Major

$

We've all heard it before: "Wow, that's such an easy major." Whether you've said it yourself or have been a victim of the statement, it's something that stirs up some controversy. After all, what makes one major "easier" than another? The truth is, a person doesn't really understand the "difficulty" of a major unless they're in it. Here are some thoughts we have when someone tells us our major is easy:

1. Did they seriously just say that?

2. They don't even know me.

3. What's their major? Neuroscience?

4. Do they even know what my major entails?

5. What makes a major "harder" than another anyway?

6. Do they think they're better than me?

7. Why do people have to be this way?

8. I'd like to see them do [whatever you do in your major].

9. I want to punch them in the face.

10. How'd they even have the nerve to say that?

11. Would a college even have "easy" majors?

12. Do they now feel better about themselves?

13. I can't deal with this ignorance.

14. You know what? I don't even care.

15. This conversation is now over.

Remember collegiettes, no major is "easy!" Just because majors are different doesn't mean one is better than another.

Need a little pick-me-up? Beyonce's got you covered. Late Sunday night, the singer posted a preview of Lemonade—a mysterious one-hour Bey-centric HBO special—on Instagram, and we have chills.

#LEMONADE premieres on 4.23 9ET | 6PT HBO

A video posted by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

The trailer shows glimpses of Bey donning gorgeous cornrows and a swoon-worthy fur coat. Her haunting voice plays in the background: "The present and the past merge to meet us here." Her glamour, paired with the stark parking garage she's standing in, make for the perfect contrast. All eyes are definitely on her.

The rest of the preview is chillingly reminiscent of a scary movie; it leaves us a little freaked out but still wanting more.

According to EW, Lemonade is "a lengthy concept video." But some fans are wondering if it has anything to do with a certain highly-anticipated album release.

Regardless, Bey's Lemonade premieres at 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, on HBO. Bottom line? Get your girls in formation because you don't want to miss this.

18 College Women Get Real About Sex on the First "Date"

How do collegiettes feel about sex on the first “date”? We asked 18 college women to tell us their thoughts — read what they think below!

“Absolutely not! If I'm just getting to know a person, I'm not going to hookup with some random stranger. I had a guy try that and I'm glad I didn't. He slept with some other girl a few weeks before and it turned out he had an STD. Glad I avoided that!”

-Leah, Auburn University Class of 2016

“I didn't lose my virginity until college, and I have since believed that hookups are healthy if they make me happy and that I will only be more prepared and experienced in my serious relationships. I have tended to avoid having sex the first time I hookup with someone, but it has happened a couple times, and although I have not regretted any, I crave for relationships more and more.”

-Maddie, Johns Hopkins University Class of 2019

“I haven't had sex the first time I hooked up/met with somebody, but that doesn't mean I never will. I'm a big fan of safe sex, though, so I'd have to have enough knowledge about my partner's sexual history to feel comfortable, and I would offer him the same information about me.”

-Liv, University of North Carolina Wilmington Class of 2018

RELATED: 13 College Women Get Real About Their Sexual Histories

“I lost my virginity to someone I matched with the day before on Tinder, and it was a wonderful experiencehttp://www.hercampus.com/node/add/article. He's now my friend with benefits. If there's a connection, I say go for it! Why stop yourself from doing something that you want to do (and is safe!) just because society says you shouldn't t do it?”

-Caroline, Towson University Class of 2019

“Call me old fashioned, but I'm not a fan of it. Don't get me wrong, I think that all women should be able to do whatever they feel comfortable doing. However, for me, I'm not comfortable with that personally. I want to get to know someone before getting intimate. I believe the sex that is the most worthwhile is the sex that is waited for, built up to. I don't mind kissing on the first date but I want to know there is mutual respect between us before going further. Plus, after only one meeting/date you don't know that person's sexual health status (you might not know that for a while to be honest) and that's one risk I, personally, am not willing to take.”

-Vicki, Siena College Class of 2017

“I feel like having sex the first time you meet someone sets you up for ‘disaster.’ Personally, I have had sex the first time and the guy tends to look at you differently. We as women shouldn't be getting a guy to like us by giving away our body right away.”

-Lynn, Seton Hall University Class of 2016

“I feel like it depends on the person and what your expectations are for the relationship. If you know you're in it for a fling, go for it. If you're thinking you'd like to be with this person for the long haul, maybe still go for it! It's common knowledge that millennials want everything NOW. If you feel comfortable with it, don't let society's ‘norms’ make you feel ashamed of your decision.”

-Ellen, Kent State University Class of 2017

RELATED: The Truth About Your ‘Number’

“Having grown up in a Catholic family and attended a Catholic grade school and a private high school, I've developed strong values and moral standards for myself. Upon entering college I set a code for myself, I decided that if I came to a point that I could see myself settling down with someone then I could have sex with them or spend the night with them because that's how it would be, that's real, that's life. I find the idea of sex after just meeting someone, after a first date, or even after a month repulsive; build up a true relationship with another person before taking that meaningful step.”

-Lauren, Xavier University Class of 2019

“I think having sex with someone the first time you meet them is crazy unsafe. It's okay if you do it once or twice in your life but I think girls who make a habit of it are really insecure about themselves. These girls are usually looking for attention, and they secretly long for a boyfriend but you're just not going to get one by being easy.”

-Anna, Pace University Class of 2017

“I think it is fine. I can enjoy sex as much as anyone else, and should not feel ashamed I simply did what I wanted to. My current boyfriend and I had sex the first time we meet. A year later, and we are still going very strong.”

-Sarah, Winona State University Class of 2016

“I think that if you have sex the first time you meet someone, it sets the tone for the future of the relationship that you two will have. I think that sex on the first date screams ‘I'm just looking for a hookup and don't want anything serious.’”

-Rachel, University of Florida Class of 2017

“Personally, having sex on the first date is something I would never do, just because for me sex is something that comes with a committed relationship. However, I think that people who want to have sex on the first ‘date’ or just have a string of hookups shouldn't be judged for that. Sex is different for all of us and it means different things.”

-Katie, The University of Alabama Class of 2017

RELATED: The Truth About Virginity in College

“I feel fine about it, except the sex usually isn't that enjoyable, because there is no real connection. I've also learned the hard way what I probably should have known all along: not to expect anything to come out of a hookup.”

-Anna, UCLA Class of 2016

“I have done it and I regret it.”

-April, Waseda University Class of 2017

“Why not? It's not like you got married. It’s just a fun way to end the date. But always use protection; you never know if that person has an STD.”

-Beth, University of Puerto Rico Class of 2019

“I have mixed feelings about this. It's difficult for me because of my upbringing, but it is understandable in college and the adult world, especially since many of these dates and relationships are based on attraction versus the understanding and expectation of forever. These relationships are in the now, fun, and part of the allure for many is the unknown, the spontaneity of it. The not knowing and unplanned future coincides with how every college kid feels on a daily basis. There is a kind of beauty in that. Being in a committed relationship, as I am, in college starts more than not with an overnight (mine didn't involve sex) and that's ok. It's a sure sign of growing up and embracing the change and instability of life.”

-Ness, Christopher Newport University Class of 2019

“Part of me wants to be ‘morally sound’ and say that you shouldn't sleep with someone the first time you meet them — but with this generation sometimes the first time you ‘meet’ someone isn't REALLY the first time you meet them being that we have Facetime and other technology. If you're comfortable with the person, go for it.”

-Carolyn, Clemson University Class of 2018

“I'm not sure how comfortable I would feel having sex the first time I meet someone, but I can see how it could happen. Honestly, I think it says nothing about your moral compass or character when you decide to have sex. As long as there is consent, I could honestly care less if someone decides to have sex on the first date or on the wedding night.”

-Sid, Christopher Newport University Class of 2017

Should You Change Up Your Hair?

Makeovers remind us of classic episodes of America’s Next Top Model where Tyra unveils the transformation she has in store for the models. The models cry out of happiness, fear, and sometimes horror, and we love every drama-filled moment. Unfortunately, life is not ANTM, and Tyra is not free to weigh in on all of our hairstyles. Instead, we talked to collegiettes who have changed up their hairstyles in major ways and they are here to help us make the decision: to chop or not to chop?

1. The Blonde Pixie

Twiggy made this style fashionable decades ago, and it’s still super trendy!

During her freshman year of college, Chloe Lustig, a sophomore at the University of California, Los Angeles, went from shoulder-length hair to a short pixie cut. “I had been wanting to make a drastic change to my hair for a while,” Chloe says. “I had a Pinterest board of cute short cuts and everything! My mom has a very short haircut, and we look similar, so I knew that if I chopped my hair off, it wouldn’t look crazy.”

Chloe also says she felt like it was the right time to go for the pixie because she’d seen Jennifer Lawrence do it and it was becoming a trendy look. But she also says to give this kind of drastic chop-off some thought: “For a lot of girls, hair is like a safety net—if you cut a lot of it off at once, you may freak out! If you’re interested in going shorter, I’d say go for it, but in steps.” So make a Pinterest board, or even an old school collage of magazine cutouts, and make sure the pixie is right for you.

2. The Lob

Some of our favorite fashionable celebs are rocking long bobs these days, like Olivia Palermo, Emma Stone, Elizabeth Olsen and Rose Byrne. Lee Martin, a sophomore at Christopher Newport University, decided to go with something different from the long hair she’s had since elementary school, so she cut her hair off to her shoulder.

“After I cut it off, I never looked back,” Lee says. “I got so many compliments, and people now can't even imagine me with long hair because it would just look wrong. I haven't had a single regret. I'm so much more confident, happy, and just overall more comfortable in my own skin.” Plus, she adds that her new look is so much easier to style and dry!

3. Daringly Dark

Sometimes, we feel like the color of our hair just isn’t doing enough for us. Going for a dramatically deep color can help you express your personality through your hair.

Bridget Higgins, a freshman at St. Johns University, found that her mousey brown hair needed a change. She went for the DIY option, with boxed hair dye. Initially, she was shocked because her hair went full-on black instead of a deeper brown, but she ended up embracing it. “I liked that the dark color brought out my eyes and it was such a huge change that everyone complimented it or at least commented on it,” Bridget says. You never know what you might get if you don’t take a chance!

4. The Shave

We’ve admired stars like Lupita Nyong’o, Solange Knowles and Natalie Portman who have sported shaved heads and buzz cuts. This look highlights the natural beauty of your face, focusing attention on your eyes and bone structure.

Antonia Giles, a junior at Davidson College, had sister locks for years. When she recently went abroad to Germany, this hairstyle was unfamiliar to hairstylists. So she shaved her head. “Coming back to America with a shaved head has been hard, especially in the South, where people are less accepting of black women in general,” she admits. Antonia feels that this change is perceived as an “alternative” look.

Ultimately, making the decision to go with a dramatic change can be scary; but remember, hair grows!

5. The Pixie With Highlights

A pixie cut can seem like a drastic change if you’re used to long hair, but going for this short cut can be a freeing change if you’re looking for a low maintenance, easy hairstyle.

Abigail Zeitler, a junior at The University of Texas at Austin, recently opted for a brown pixie cut with a few highlights to make her life easier on the 70-mile bike ride she has planned for the summer. She wanted a low-maintenance look.

What Abigail didn’t anticipate was the way it would make her stand out and give her a boost in self-esteem. “Confidence-wise, it's more noticeable having short hair and being a girl because of the gender stereotypes there are today,” she says. Why not boost your confidence with a standout look like a pixie cut?

6. Locks of Love

Ever feel weighed down by your long locks? Chelle Ivancic, a freshman at DePaul University, did. That’s why she just cut 14 inches off of her hair for Locks of Love. And get this: This is her seventh time doing it! Pretty inspiring, if you ask us.

“I have extremely curly hair,” Chelle explains, “So my texture became much more present once the hair was no longer weighed down.” She even got headaches from her heavy hair! So if you’re ready to let that length go, opt for a shorter look that helps others! There are plenty of hair donation options out there.

7. The Ombré

There are so many ways to do the ombré that it can feel overwhelming to find one that works for you! Taylor Evans, a junior at Occidental College, originally went for a lighter brown shade to complement her midnight black locks, but the color turned out to be orangey-red. “I ombréd the ends of my hair before going abroad to Prague for a semester,” Taylor says. “New city, new look… As the months went on, it lightened and I loved it.”

Since then, she has gotten a haircut to keep her hair healthy, but she really misses her trendy ombré look. “It was a way of expressing my personality with a simple hairstyle, which was something I had never really done before,” Taylor says. So whether you’re looking to take on a new locale by storm this summer, or want to show the real you through some hair flair, go for this fresh and exciting style!

Is a drastic hairstyle change in your future, collegiettes? Consider all your options: You’ve got so much to work with!

We’ve partnered with Abrams Books and The Haters and are giving one lucky collegiette the chance towin a copy of The Haters, a branded bumper sticker, and a pair of Bose over-ear headphones.

The Haters follows two best friends and musicians, Wes and Corey. Their adventure begins at a jazz camp where they meet Ash, a charismatic girl with a unique voice that changes the boy’s musical perspectives. Wes, Corey and Ash immediately establish a connection and the three become a dynamic music-making trio. Then, Ash makes a spontaneous decision that the group should ditch jazz camp and hit the road to tour. Before Wes and Corey can process the commitment, the three bandmates are in Ash’s SUV and their adventure of “The Haters Summer of Hate Tour” has officially begun.

Jesse Andrews is a screenwriter and New York Times bestselling author for his first book, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Calvin Klein Approves of Justin Bieber's Underwear Ads But Not Kendall Jenner's

$

You'd probably think Calvin Klein has nothing but nice things to say about the people who model his underwear, including Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner. But recent statements from Klein reveal that's not the case.

Klein—who stepped down from the brand's creative director position in 2002—told former CFDA president Fern Mallis that he isn't familiar with Kendall's role in the ads, but he didn't stop there. "I'm sure she's a lovely young woman. It's not the kind of thing I would have done, even today."

Ouch! This may have something to do with the fact that Klein doesn't believe in the brand's increasingly modern marketing strategy. "Now, models are paid for how many followers they have. They're booked not because they represent the essence of the designer, which is what I tried to do. I don't think that, long-term, is going to work. I don't think that's a great formula for success for the product you're trying to sell."

Klein is a big fan of Justin Bieber's steamy underwear ads, though. "When [I say] I like Justin Bieber in the Calvin Klein Underwear [campaign], it's because I like him—not because he's got millions of followers," he said. "I think [Bieber's posters] are very good."

Whether Klein isn't a fan of the KarJenners or he's throwing some sexist shade Kendall's way, we'll never know. Sorry, Kendall.

What do you think about Kendall's role in the Calvin Klein ads?

We saw Swift swoon over Harris at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, but this photo takes everything to the next level. They are basically the cutest couple we’ve ever seen.

She captioned the moment with a perfectly expressive heart-eye emoji, that captured her feelings and the entire essence of the moment. If that photo doesn’t absolutely melt your heart, then we don’t know what does.

What it’s Like Waiting to Hear Back from Internships

At this point you applied for your dream internship, you totally killed the interview and you even asked a connection to put in a good word. So what reason could there possibly be that you haven’t heard back yet?! You’ve done everything right, but waiting to hear back about your dream internship is even worse than waiting for your crush to text you back after you use an embarrassing emoji mid-conversation.

“Just relax,” you tell yourself.

You remind yourself what an incredible candidate you are for the position.

Asking your friends how long it took to hear back from their internship seems like a good idea…

…but then you immediately regret asking anyone, because of course they heard back right away.

You check your email obsessively.

Your phone is mocking you. You can’t stop staring at it, waiting for the call.

You just keep waiting.

And waiting.

Annnnnnnnd waiting.

When your phone rings, you excitedly jump to answer it—but it’s just your mom asking if you heard back yet. Nope.

Distraction is key. You try everything. You clean your whole apartment.

You even go to the gym, for crying out loud.

You take drastic measures to get through this.

Then finally—miraculously—you get that magical phone call.

When you answer, you’re somewhere between excited and nauseous.

They’re taking too long to tell you whether you got it or not, and you’re freaking out. Enough with the small talk!

Finally, they tell you that you got the job and you do a silent mini-celebration while pretending to listen to their instructions for next steps.

Congratulations, intern, you did it!

Why We Should Get Rid of "Plus Size" Labels

In the wake of Amy Schumer's angry response to Glamour magazine, which included her in their 'Chic at Every Size' issue alongside plus-size women such as Adele and Melissa McCarthy, many people are left wondering: What does it even mean to be plus size, anyway? And is it "plus size" or "plus sized?" And most importantly, does it actually matter?

It's refreshing to see a major women's publication featuring women who aren't all one homogenous body type, but the fact that we need labels like plus size shows how much of an issue this is.

Amy took her displeasure at being included to Instagram, where she points out that in the U.S., plus size is typically size 16 or larger, while Amy fluctuates between sizes 6 and 8. First of all, there's something problematic when we're categorizing plus size as one thing, but then including women who aren't even that size. It says that society's body standards are even more distorted than the industry would make it seem. If size 6 or 8 is large enough to be called out for it, then what does it mean to actually be size 16?

Labels like this are problematic for everyone. They're problematic for the woman who is a size 16, and who now feels like even though she's technically plus size, she's actually worse off than she thought because at size 6, a woman is already "too fat." They're problematic for women who are smaller than 16, worrying that they can't get to that size or risk crossing the line over to "too fat." The fact that the labels fluctuate from store to store (I've seen stores with anything over size 12 in the plus size section) and magazines are categorizing women as plus size without regard to actual clothing size adds to the confusion.

And do these labels even benefit anyone? Why not take direction from Modcloth and do away with the label altogether, and just offer an item of clothing in a wide variety of sizes? It seems arbitrary to decide that anything over a certain size is different from other sizes.

I'm not even advocating that we should drop plus size only clothing stores, either. I'm not plus size. I actually wear a very small size and usually have to look for petite sizes or stores that I know carry small clothing. I know why a separate store that caters to your body type would be beneficial; it's much more likely you can find a bunch of clothing that fits and looks good. With a really petite frame and small hands and feet, different styles look good on me than on most of my friends with curvier bodies. I think clothing stores that specialize in plus sizes make complete sense. I just think that if a store plans to carry all sizes, there's no point in separating them.

When I go shopping with my plus size friends, they usually end up feeling dismayed. I've heard comments like, "This store won't carry my size," or "The plus size section is ugly or expensive." The clothes that are selected for their bodies are separate in so many ways. They aren't having a pleasant shopping experience. A lot of the time, I can't find petite sizes that will fit me, either. But I at least don't have to deal with a societal disgust for my body type that comes with that difficult-to-find label.

Dropping the plus size label is one step toward body positivity that the industry needs. Many women are reclaiming the word fat and getting rid of fatphobic language, such as using "You've lost weight!" as a compliment. After all, what's wrong with the word fat? It's actually just a descriptor, and the reason we hate it so much is because we're conditioned to believe it's wrong to be fat. We use euphemisms like 'curvy,''big-boned,' and 'plus size,' but then turn around and sling the word fat at the people we believe deserve it, people we believe are fat because of their health choices and not because of genetics and innate body type.

Fatphobia is everywhere. I've attended family parties with friends who were greeted by family members with, "Wow, you look great! You've lost so much weight!" I've stood around at a work party with a group of coworkers commenting about how they can't eat another slice of pizza because of how fat they'll get. Offhand comments about weight and body image are so ingrained and normal that we almost don't even notice them until we take a closer look.

When I struggled with an eating disorder for several years between high school and college, I began to pay particular attention to how we talk about bodies, especially women's bodies. If I skipped the fries, I was reprimanded by friends and family because I'm naturally petite. "You can't afford not to eat," people would tell me, "because then you'll just blow away." At the same dinner table, my fatter friends who skipped entire meals were applauded for being healthy.

What would dropping the label plus size actually mean? What needs to happen is a complete overhaul of the industry. Put all your sizes together on the rack (or website). Whatever is in inventory for that style should all be in one place, albeit separated by individual size so customers can easily sort through. Plus size clothing should not be more expensive. (The idea that it's based on how much material is used is complete nonsense. I've seen bikinis that cost more than jackets!) It should be just as cute and as appealing as any other size. And models of all body types should be able to model all clothing, not just plus sized models for plus size clothing labels.

Getting rid of the plus size label reinforces the body positivity movement, and the removal of fatphobia from our language and culture. Plus size may seem innocuous, because we're trained to believe that if the word fat isn't used, it's not offensive. If we remove these labels from the way we purchase clothing, we won't be getting rid of fatphobia and making the world suddenly body positive. But we'll be just one step closer, and that's progress we desperately need.

Chuck Bass as an Evil Kidnapper Still Has Us Swooning

Looks like Ed Westwick Chuck Bass is once again up to his sneaky and villainous ways—and we still can't help but swoon over him! A trailer for the movie Take Down was just released, and it features everyone's favorite Gossip Girl bad boy.

The thriller involves several rebellious rich kids, who are sent to a boot camp on a remote island. While there, they are taught key survival skills, with the hope that they will learn to take responsibility for their actions, while learning skills that will help them survive in the real world. Sounds like a decent plan, right? Well, things go awry when a group of ruthless kidnappers—including Westwick (who plays Billy Speck)—intervene, taking said wealthy kids and holding them hostage until the ransom is paid.

Based on the trailer, this movie looks intense (to say the least). And we also can't help but wonder what would happen if the Upper East Side's Blair, Serena, Chuck, and Nate somehow ended up in this situation. The role also seems to suit Westwick well, considering he's perfected his evil tendencies from his Gossip Girl days. And let's face it, he's insanely good at playing the bad guy.

Donald Trump Confuses 9/11 for 7/11

The New York primaries could set the tone for the rest of the race for the presidential hopefuls. Voting began on Tuesday, which is why all of the candidates have been trying to prove that they have real“New York values.” Donald Trump was born and raised a New Yorker—This should have been easy for him.

Unfortunately for Trump, he confused 9/11 for the popular convenient store 7-Eleven during a rally on Monday.

“I wrote this out, and it’s very close to my heart,” Trump said in Buffalo on Monday night, according to CNN. “Because I was down there and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down.”

According to New York Daily News, Trump has yet to say anything about this mistake.

“Despite its problems, we love this state,” Trump said in Buffalo. Among one of its “problems” is that head coach Rex Ryan of the Buffalo Bills has never brought home an NFL championship for New York. But when have facts ever gotten in the way of Trump’s stories? When Ryan introduced Trump to the stage in Buffalo, Trump said that the coach had “won championships” in New York—which isn’t true, either.

According CBS News, Trump went on a rant about winning after pointing out Ryan’s imaginary championships. "We're gonna win at every element of what we're doing! We're gonna win with the military! We're gonna win with everything. We're gonna win so much! You're gonna get tired of winning! You're gonna be saying from Buffalo, 'Please please, Mr. President, we don't want any more business!”

Maybe the candidates are trying to prove their “New York values,” but mixing up a store where we buy mini donuts and slurpees with a national tragedy is a little extreme. New York’s voting for their nominee begins today, so they’ll decide whether that slip-up was enough to lose Trump his lead.

Tinder Gives a Scholarship & Internship Offer to Girl Who Had to Leave Sorority

Tinder is paying for a University of Nebraska Omaha’s senior year of college after her sorority moved to kick her out over wearing her sorority’s letters in her Tinder profile picture.

Shannon Workman, a junior and former member of the Chi Omega sorority, was posing with her friends for her picture on Tinder, wearing a tank top saying “Sweet Home Chi Omega.” Apparently, the sorority did not want their name associated with the website.

According to MTV, Chi Omega’s executive board even called Workman’s behavior “promiscuous” and “provocative,” labeling Tinder as just a hook-up website. The sorority has a “Human Dignity” rule, in which sisters are not allowed to post anything online that would not “uphold the honor and dignity” of the chapter.

“Some people use [Tinder] for hookups but I don’t, and a lot of great things happen through Tinder,” Workman in an interview with BuzzFeed News.

“There’s no place for personal degradation within membership of Chi Omega,” said one chapter advisor to Workman in the personal disciplinary meeting over the issue. Instead of going through the process of “membership revocation,” Workman decided to quit her sorority on the spot.

“We think what Shannon did sends a very empowering message to young women and college students, which is actually one of Tinder’s largest audiences. Don’t conform, don’t let people tell you your beliefs are wrong just because it’s not the same as their beliefs,” Tinder co-founder and CEO Sean Rad wrote in a statement to BuzzFeed News.

On top of awarding Workman a year’s tuition, Tinder even called up the college junior to offer her a paid internship in California this summer. “It’s the first time we reached out to someone whose story inspired us and asked them to be part of the team…her actions showed a depth of leadership and courage that is admirable and something we value as part of our company culture,” Rad said to BuzzFeed.

OnGood Morning America, Workman said, “I hope girls stand up for themselves, and whatever they believe in.” Shannon may not have been able to stay at Chi Omega, but now she has a year’s tuition and an awesome job offer—great things really do happen through Tinder!

Watch Sia's AMAZING Coachella Set Here

This past weekend, it seemed like the only hashtags seen on social media were #coachellla and #nochella. So basically, you were either at the festival, or living vicariously through celebrities on your feed. The lineup included some stand-out collaborations, like Kesha singing with Zedd, Rihanna singing with Calvin Harris, and Lorde joining Sam Smith and Disclosure on stage. And that just touches the surface of how exciting the festival has been so far. One act that stood out from the rest was Sia, who blew everyone away with her 35-minute set.

Considering that Sia recently announced a return from her hiatus, concert-goers were pretty darn excited when she took the stage. Believe it or not, the singer hadn't performed a full set since 2011, which is far too long TBH. Dressed in her signature half-white, half-black wig that conceals her face, Sia performed while accompanied by Maddie Ziegler and several other amazing dancers. And did we mention that some celebrities also joined Sia? Kristen Wiig, Paul Zano, and Tig Notaro all chipped in to make the performance a memorable one.

Sia's set list included "Elastic Heart,""Chandelier,""Cheap Thrills,""Bird Set Free," and Rihanna's "Diamonds." And yes, the entire production was as wonderful as you'd expect. From Sia's heart-felt vocals to the intricate dance moves, it was by far one of the highlights of Coachella. Don't believe us? Check out the full set below for proof!
