Homeless Teen in Custody For the Murder of Haruka Weiser

Last week, the Austin Police Department reported that they were searching for the "person of interest" shown in a video connected to the murder of a University of Texas at Austin freshman. According to the New York Daily News, a 17-year-old "homeless runaway" is now in custody for the crime and has been booked at the Travis County jail.

"We are very certain that the suspect we have in custody...is responsible for the death of this beautiful young woman," said Art Acevedo, Police Chief of Austin PD.

Meechaiel Khalil Criner was arrested on Thursday and formally charged with first-degree murder for the killing of 18-year-old dance and theatre student, Haruka Weiser. Police apparently were able to apprehend a suspect after being tipped off by the local fire department.

As of now there is no known motive for the crime, though it is still under investigation.

Criner is said to have had a tough upbringing, facing abuse at the hands of his grandmother. The Daily Mail reported that Criner had run away from home several times. When he was interviewed for a story published in a Texas high school publication in December 2014, Criner also claimed that he was a victim of bullying.

"I've been bullied almost my whole life," he said. "In elemenatary school, I would come home crying almost every day. It was because of my accent, you see. People couldn't understand me."

Criner ran away from his grandmother's house in Texarkana in August 2015. His whereabouts and what he may have been doing since then are still unknown, but police believe that he may have been squatting in a building close to UTA campus. In that same building, police found remains of Weiser's belongings that had been burned.

The students at the university have since been mourning the loss of Weiser but campus police chief David Carter assured everyone that, though the suspect is now in custody, police are still doing everything they can to assure the safety of the students.

"We believe this is a safe campus," he said. "The campus continues to grieve. Yes, we feel better that the suspect is in custody, but we continue to grieve."

#AerieMan Model Claims He Didn't Know the Campaign Was an April Fools' Joke

Aerie basically infuriated the internet recently when they released #AerieMan campaign supporting male body positivity—Only to reveal that the videos promoting the campaign, which featured men of all body types wearing the underwear and the slogan "The real you is sexy," were all part of a very committed April Fools' hoax

In a statement, the brand wrote that the campaign was "all in good fun to parody the #AerieReal campaign by Aerie, a leader in body-positive marketing," but also explained that the company really does plan to stop retouching male models by the 2016 holiday season.

Many people were upset at the joke because it actually had the potential to be a good idea, but instead mocked the idea of men wanting to be more body-positive—including one of the models involved in the project. According to Kelvin Davis, one of the men who modeled the underwear for the fake campaign, the whole thing was real as far as he was concerned.

"We were asked questions about male body image and those were our responses," he told BuzzFeed, explaining that he's gotten flack from the body positivity movement for participating in the campaign. "Everything I said was from a heartfelt place we all can relate."

"I represented male body positivity before the #AerieMan campaign. I represent male body positivity after the #AerieMan campaign. Simple as that," he added.

American Eagle has yet to respond to Davis's comments.

Two Students Killed in Shootout Near LSU Campus

Two Southern University students were killed in a shooting near the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge early Sunday morning.

CBS News reports that Lashuntae Benton and Annette January, both 19, were at a party thrown by members of the track team when gunfire broke out between two men. Neither girl was the intended target of the attack, police Sgt. Don Coppola said in a statement.

Ernest Bernard Felton is currently facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, and the second man was sent to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Both women were dedicated students and talented athletes, the Chicago Tribune reports. Benton, a sophomore, was a student athletic trainer and January, a freshman, was a member of Southern's track and field team.

“My baby was a very vibrant child, a beautiful child with a beautiful heart," Theresa Tillman, Benton's mother, told CBS, "Everybody loved her."

Benton was studying sports medicine at Southern and had played softball, track and volleyball during high school. "She was very ambitious," Tillman said.

Dawn January told CBS that said her daughter, Annette, was outgoing and aspired to be an entrepreneur.

January was captain of the track team and a member of the student council at her high school in Gary, Illinois, her former track coach, Jerae Protho-Guider, told CBS.

"Annette wanted to be the best at whatever she did," she said. "It feels like a nightmare, like I'm just waiting to wake up," she added.

Flags flew half-mast at Southern University on Sunday, in memory of Benton and January.

Former Vanderbilt Football Player Convicted of Raping Unconscious Student

Corey Batey, a former Vanderbilt University football player, has been found guilty of raping an unconscious woman in a dorm room in 2013, Reuters reports.

Batey is one of four former Vanderbilt football players who were charged after the June 2013 incident.

The victim, who was also a Vanderbilt student, was unconscious during the attack, which was photographed and videotaped by accused men. One of the men sent a video of the assault to friends as it was happening, according to The Washington PostThe Tennesean reports that there were 30 pictures and three videos in all.

The men tried to defend themselves by claiming they were too drunk to know what they were doing, blaming hookup culture for the attack. That didn't go over well with the jury, The New York Post reports, as they only had to deliberate for a few hours before coming up with a verdict.

Batey and fellow former Vanderbilt football player Brandon Vandenburg were found guilty of rape once in January 2015, but the judge declared a mistrial due to an issue with a juror.

The victim has since graduated from Vanderbilt, the Tennessean reports. She bravely testified at Friday’s trial, and because of the mistrial, will have to testify at least three times.

"She's my hero, she really is," said prosecutor Kathy Morante, according to the Tennesean.

Vandenburg’s retrial and the trials of the last two accused, Jaborian McKenzie and Brandon Banks, are expected to take in June, the The Washington Post reports.

According to Tennessee state law, aggravated rape carries a sentence of 15 to 25 years behind bars. Sentencing will take place May 20, according to the Tennessean.

It's that time in the semester when school completely takes over your life: finals week. You're practically living at the library, your main food group is a Starbucks latte and you can't remember what it's like to have a social life. While you may be devoting your blood, sweat and tears to your textbooks, finals week shouldn't feel like a total punishment. Take a break from study hour and put on an outfit that'll give you a confidence boost! Okay, we know actually looking put together to take a test may seem absurd, but what if all of said cute outfits involved sweatpants? Yes, sweatpants. Ditch the tired college student look and let yourself be inspired by these outfits that incorporate both style and comfort.

Keep it simple with black and white for the start of finals week. A striped jogger will make your legs look longer and the slim fit will make people completely oblivious to the fact that you're rocking sweats. A loose t-shirt will give you the relaxed fit you need when you're cramped in a classroom with all of those people who never actually attended class. A leather backpack and black sneakers pull this look together and make you look sporty and trendy.

Put some color into your sweatpants collection with green joggers. The color will seperate you from the masses of gray and black university-brand sweatpants on campus and will certainly not let you look frumpy. Simple TOMS and a black ribbed tank with a layered gold necklace are the finishing touches to this outfit. The necklace is a classy alternative to a scarf and will add the right amount of contrast to your otherwise neutral ensemble.

Don't be afraid to hit the post-finals parties in this outfit either! End the week with edge and be happy you left your jeans in the hamper.

16 College Women on How They’re Paying for School

College is expensive, that’s for sure. But how many collegiettes afford higher education is less clear. We asked 16 college women how they’re paying for college and how who’s footing the bill impacts their lives.

“My parents paid for my first two-and-a-half years from a college fund that they had for me, and I also had an unsubsidized loan from my school. Now that the money has run out and I am on my own with loans from the bank and the school.

-Sadie, Christopher Newport University Class of 2017

“I don't have to worry about paying for college while I'm in school, something my parents insisted upon, although I have minimal loans to pay off once I graduate. And when I say minimal, I'm comparing my $15,000-$20,000 in loans to some of my friends and roommates $40,000-$60,000 loans that they have to pay off. My parents and grandparents saved for my siblings and I to go to college, but still don't want us to take their generosity for granted — hence the percentage that I will end up paying. I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to be able to go to a great private university and for the people who made that happen.”

-Molly, Bentley University Class of 2017

RELATED: How to Pay Off Your Student Loans

“I am paying for college (mostly) on my own (my mom helps when she can, but it's small comparatively; she's a single parent with my little brother to support). Going to a more expensive liberal arts school and paying your own way (and being a low-income person in general) is difficult. I have missed out on many of the ‘classic’ college experiences because I've been at work; often, when I tell people I can't hang out they tell me that ‘I work too much,’ or that I seem tired. They don't seem to understand that I have to work that much in order to keep up with expenses that they take for granted; not just tuition, but dental appointments, new shoes, car repairs, transportation costs home, and much more. On the flip side, paying my own tuition has made me invest more in my own college experience and see my classes as a privilege instead of a right. I'm fighting for my right to be here, and that makes me grateful for it. Plus, my jobs have connected me to a group of wonderful people I would not otherwise know, like students from the college next door!”

-Lena, Kenyon College Class of 2018

“I was so blessed that my grandpa had enough savings to pay my way through college. I am so thankful, but I do feel a little guilty when I talk to my friends who are doing work-study or drowning in loans. It's not much, but I try to buy them dinner and things like that from time to time, because I want to hang out with them without money being an issue.”

-Iris, UCLA Class of 2016

“My parents are paying for college. At first, I didn't really think much of it; I was a little clueless my freshman year and my parents just took it all on without much explanation. But now, my junior year, I know more details about how much they're paying and how much of a struggle it can be for them. It's helped motivate me to work harder, both in school, now knowing how lucky I am to be here, as well as out of school with part time jobs. I used to ask them for money constantly and didn't think much of it but after looking into it and seeing their struggle, I work part time for my own spare money with some of it going back to them for school bills.”

-Alex, Illinois State Class of 2017

“I have some grant money and some loans. Having student debt to pay off after I graduate stresses me out, but I'm really grateful for the grants I was given.”

-Olivia, University of North Carolina at Greensboro Class of 2016

RELATED:The Most Expensive Colleges in the US

“I pay for my college tuition, housing, food, books, etc. completely on my own. I get some scholarship money from the school, but the rest is covered through student loans and money that I earn from my on-campus jobs. Having to pay for college this way is sometimes extremely stressful. My parents are middle-class, and so I don't get any free money from the government, and in addition to that, a lot of my financial aid is expected to come from my parents. The school will give you a maximum of $20,000 per year in scholarships, grants and loans total. $6,000 of my $20,000 is labeled ‘Expected family contribution,’ meaning that the government says that my parents should be able to contribute $6,000 to my schooling. So essentially, I am only given $12,000 a year for tuition, housing, food and anything else that I might need. $12,000 a year to live is not a lot. My parents are not contributing anything to me due to extenuating financial circumstances, so I have to really budget carefully to make sure that I can live. $6,000 of that $12,000 is my tuition cost, so I need to make $6,000 a year covers my living arrangements, food, car payment, car insurance and everything else. Seem impossible? It pretty much is, which is why I need to work two jobs. I wish that there were better options for students in my situation. Just because the government says that my family is ‘expected’ to pay a certain amount for my schooling doesn't mean that it's happening, and I shouldn't have to be responsible for that.”

-Rachel, University of Florida Class of 2017

“I'm taking out loans for college. Although my mom is a single parent and my father did not pay child support, because my mom has a successful job, I don't qualify for financial aid. So both my sister and I are taking out loans to pay for our education. College wasn't something I thought twice about and I know it'll help me, and that'll pay them off after I graduate.”

-Jessica, Montclair State University Class of 2017

“In a way my parents are paying. My family is military and my father transferred his GI Bill to me.”

-Andrea, Auburn University Class of 2019

“Freshman year I had a good amount of scholarships, but ever since then it's been loans on top of loans.”

-Ciarra, North Carolina A&T State University Class of 2018

RELATED: Does Your Major Have the Most Expensive Textbooks?

“I have no financial support from family. I was raised by my grandparents and their retirement is just enough to keep them going. I work full time (12 hours a day, daily) in the summer and the checks go straight to the college. It's worth it though; I never take the experience for granted and have a real passion for the journey.”

-Daphne, Gettysburg College Class of 2019

“I was really, really blessed with financial aid so I do not have to pay any of the infamous $45,000 per year that it costs to attend NYU. However, I do have to pay for housing and a meal plan which costs around $15,000 per year. I take out about $5k in federal loans per year and my father has paid the other $10k using a month-by-month payment plan through the university. However, he is a small business owner and can't always predict his income, so we've hit a few snags with getting my payments in on time. In light of that, I'm going to take private loans with the catch that my dad has agreed to pay them off with me after I graduate. Even though I'm a little scared to take out more loans, especially when they aren't low-interest federal loans, it's nice to know that I won't have to pay them off alone.”

-Hannah, NYU Class of 2019

“My parents paid for my college tuition. All of my spending money came from summer jobs through high school and over the summers. My dad incentivized me to always save my babysitting money and after-school job money so that I would have money to do fun things in college. All of my friends not only have their parents paying their tuition, but also provide an allowance. Sometimes I can’t keep up with them and I get aggravated or jealous, but then I try to remember that most people aren’t as lucky as I am to have my expensive school paid for fully.”

-Elizabeth, University of Pennsylvania Class of 2016

“My parents are paying for part of it, and I am paying for the rest. I have already had to take out loans and know that I will be taking out many more. It is very stressful because everything is so expensive.”

-Erica, Gettysburg College Class of 2019

“My parents told me that they would pay $20,000 and that I had to pay for the rest. I got a lot of money from academic scholarships, a music scholarship and I also took out student loans. My parents are stressed about money a lot of the time because I am one of four kids and we are all similar in age, which means lots of college tuition at the same time.”

-Shailagh, Gustavus Adolphus College Class of 2018

“Fortunately, I receive a lot of federal aid and a few scholarships that help take down the price of my education. I still have to pay a large amount for living expenses though, and my grandmother's saving fund does that for me. I am always working for scholarships so I can save that money and I have three jobs that help pay the smaller expenses, such as sorority dues and utilities. I am thankful I do not have to take out many loans, and that I am not struggling to pay for college, but one of my jobs is at the Financial Aid Office and I see struggling every day. I wish people understood the expenses in depth before choosing a college or program. All too often, I come in contact with a student that still has a bill with no way to pay it and it affects me because I feel helpless in the situation.”

7 Signs You Should Just Make the First Move Already, As Told by Moms

$

0

Having a crush in college is confusing. It’s not as straightforward as it was when we were little kids, where we could pass a love note stating we are madly in love with them, start dating and share our lunch and hold hands with our partner for a week. (Can we go back to that please?) A lot of us have no idea how to even make the first move anymore, but more significantly, we don’t know if we should at all. Where do we go when we need advice? How do we solve this dilemma of whether or not we should just ask out that hottie already?

Lucky for you, we’ve gotten seven Her Campus moms to share their advice and stories to help you feel secure enough to make the first move, because mothers always know best. They’ll tell you the exact signs that it’s time for you to bend down on one knee and propose for a coffee date. Let’s turn to our moms and see what they have to say.

1. They’ve been sending very clear signals that they’re into you

As much as people try to play it cool, having a crush can make your behavior completely neurotic. We do stupid things around the people we like, from trying to impress them to openly staring at them and ogling whenever they speak, and our moms have been watching us play this game for years. If the two of you have been ridiculously flirting and sending romantic signals for a while, it’s probably time for you to make the first move.

“Here’s what I want to say to all these college honeys out there: beautiful things, you know if a boy likes you or not,” advises mom Angie Galleno, who has put one daughter and two sons through college. “Women have some strong intuition, and men lack subtlety. If he reciprocates your feelings, he’s going to show it, and in that you can find comfort with making the first move.”

Some signals that they may like you are physical touch, use of affectionate words, playfulness both verbally and physically, giving of gifts or spending a lot of time together–and those are just the really obvious ones! Romantic signals are unique to each person, and hopefully you know them well enough by now to tell that they’re interested. It can be frustrating that they haven’t made the first move yet, but HC and the moms of the world have the confidence that you’re going to rock this one.

2. They haven’t shown interest in anybody else

While we may get fed up with waiting and feel that it’s time for us to ask them out, we still want some reassurance they actually do like us and not someone else. It’s important to make sure that we haven’t misinterpreted their feelings, and after being clear about that we can give it a go.

“If a person likes you, they would be an idiot to start pursuing someone else!” says mom Lisa Hunt–and isn’t she right! “My daughter, Heather, goes to California State University, Fullerton, and we have a pretty close relationship,” Lisa continues. “She’s good about calling me and informing me about her love life, and lately she’s liked this girl, but isn’t sure if she likes her back or likes someone else. In my mind this is a no brainer! I would go for someone who very clearly likes me and isn’t flaky about who they have feelings for.”

Basically, you can take solace in the fact that your crush likes you and only you. It’s promising if they aren’t flirting with a bunch of other people. If they haven’t shown interest in anybody else, you can have confidence that they are only interested in you. So what are you waiting for? Go ask them out already!

3. Other people have noted that they probably have feelings for you

Remember back in elementary school when liking someone was school-wide gossip that everybody got to participate in? Your friends helped you put love notes in your crush’s pencil box and organized games of playing house so that you two could always be the mom and the dad. Well, adult versions of liking someone can be like that too. It may not be as obvious or silly, but if your crush likes you, people are pretty likely to notice it and talk about it.

“I meet a lot of my daughter’s friends whenever I go visit her at school, and I can always pick out which of the boys like her,” says mom Gail Escandon, who has a daughter attending Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. “When I tell her who likes her, it’s just some affirmation that other people besides her can confirm that some guy she has feelings for probably has feelings for her too, and that she can go ahead and ask him out for coffee. Usually her friends have noticed it too and we always have a blast teasing her about it.”

While a mom may be more keen on noticing subtle romantic feelings, friends always notice them too! If you’ve ever received a comment like, “Is something going on between you and so-and-so?” or “Have you seen the way that they look at you? Do they like you?” then you can definitely confirm that you’re not imagining their feelings, but that the mutual affection is very real. If friends and moms can confirm that it looks like something is going on, feel secure enough to make the first move, and expect a “yes!” in return.

4. They actively try to spend time with you

Time is a precious thing in college. The balancing act of class, homework, personal time and friends is stressful, so if your crush is actively setting aside time to spend with you, it might be a hint that you should make the first move because they’ve already made one by being present in your life.

“Quality time is probably the most important love language,” says mom Lynn Donovan, who has a daughter at Biola University. “If you have a boy who’s scheduling their time around you, he’s a keeper.”

Nobody appreciates quality time like moms, so let’s follow their lead on this. Putting effort in is a stunning quality to look for in a partner, so it’s a plus if they already do that before you’re even dating!

5. They haven’t tried to hook up with you

Hookup culture is everywhere in college, and it’s confusing whether a hookup counts as a first move or not. Let’s just assume that it doesn’t and differentiate between hookup-type relationships and the typical going-on-dates and holding hands relationships. The difference is that one has more to do with a sexual connection and the other is more emotional. If your crush hasn’t tried to hook up with you, it’s a sign that they are interested in making a kind of connection that can only come with dating.

“If the person you like is using you physically, I would think that that’s what they would prefer over a relationship with you,” advises the mother of two collegiette daughters, Tiffany Verdugo. “If that’s what you would like too, by all means, but I would certainly want my daughter to have a meaningful relationship with a partner. Ask out the person that is clearly interested in you, but that has respected your body and boundaries enough to prefer a conversation with your heart rather than jumping into sex. Those types of people are going to say yes when you try to have a legitimate date with them.”

These words are such a brilliant reminder that it might be time to steer away from our millennial views on relationships and turn back toward the system that our moms grew up with, which is first going on a date and forming a connection, and worrying about sex second. Definitely make the first move if your potential partner has consistently made an effort to get to know you for who you are, your lady parts excused. If you're just looking for a hookup, that's fine too! Just make sure you know what you want.

6. The two of you can actually talk

Finding people that we can truly connect with–especially in a college with thousands of students–can be a challenge. It’s even harder when you’re trying to forge a connection with the person you want to date, because you’re probably so tongue-tied around them real words won’t even come out of your mouth. Needless to say, a level of comfortability and having an easy friendship with them should be a big reassurance when considering whether or not to make the first move.

“I had dated a lot of men in college before I met my husband,” reminisces mom Amy Ham, who has raised four children, three of who have been married in the last year, all having met their spouses in college (she’s very proud of this). “The thing that set him apart was that we were friends first, and that we had incredible conversations with one another. He was painfully shy, but was always good at talking to me, and our communication is part of what made us start dating in the first place, because it just felt different than with other people. We were comfortable, and we could talk about everything, and that meant our relationship would never be boring.”

We love hearing the stories about what made our Her Campus moms start dating their husbands! They probably know best on this point, and if it’s easy for your crush to have great conversations with you, then asking them out and talking about taking your relationship to the next level should be a piece of cake!

7. Out of the two of you, you are consistently the braver one

The final hint that it’s time for you to make the first move is if you get the feeling they never will. This doesn’t mean they don’t like you, but some people are inherently incapable of asking another person out for various reasons. If you are consistently more outgoing and honest about your feelings than they are, it’s up to you to be the initiator.

“Here’s a rude awakening: men fear rejection more than women do,” says mom Gaynell Gallagher, who has two daughters attending the University of Colorado Boulder. “I remember this one man I dated in my early 20s. He was timid and wrapped up in his shell tight like a little peanut, and I needed to crack him open. I knew he was never going to initiate anything, so I swallowed my fear of rejection and asked him out instead. I always tell my daughters the same thing, which is that they can’t wait around for something to happen. If they want something they have to make it happen–especially when dealing with the male species.”

Don’t stress too much about asking them out. It doesn’t have to be grand gesture, just make sure that you clearly present your feelings and what you’re looking for. By now you’re probably pretty sure that they like you anyways, so you should be confident about receiving a positive answer in return.

With reassurance from our moms, we hope all you ladies will feel confident about making the first move. Let’s face it, this has been coming for a while now, and this advice was the last thing we needed to make us brave and push us forward. Moms make us stronger, better versions of ourselves, and they have raised us to find the happiness we deserve. That being considered, go forth collegiettes, and conquer!

3 Beauty Looks to Complement Kylie's Matte Metallic Lip Colors

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know about all the hype surrounding Kylie Jenner and her beauty line, Kylie Cosmetics. Her OG product line-up featured her covetable Lip Kits, sets including a liquid lipstick and a corresponding lip liner. Then, she designed three custom neutral lip glosses.

Her latest release comes just in time for Coachella—three metallic lip kit colors—called Reign, King K and Heir. Although an official release date hasn’t been confirmed, we’re guessing it'll be this week, especially given Kylie’s hints about how the shades are inspired by Coachella.

If you’re lucky enough to snag one of Kylie’s newest lip kits, here are three beauty looks you can create using each of the colors.

Reign

Named in honor of Kylie’s adorable nephew, Reign is a deep-red toned copper shade designed to give you the confidence you need to #slay.

As seen here on Jordyn Woods, there is a lot of variety when it comes to how you incorporate Reign into your beauty routine.

To get this look, use a deep purple eyeliner (Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in Matte Deep Plum, $12) to perfect your go-to cat eye. Then, highlight your lower lash line with a shimmery peach shade (Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Freelove, $19) to perk up your eyes in time for class.

As a final touch, apply your favorite foundation and highlighter and let the stunning copper lip color shine.

King K

With a name inspired by Kylie herself, there is no room for self-doubt if you decide to rock this royal pure gold.

For instant edge, apply King K and keep the rest of your makeup simple. Since your lips will be the star of the show, use a lightweight BB cream (Maybelline Dream Fresh, $8.99) to even out your complexion and fill in your brows with a brow crayon (Maybelline Eyestudio Pomade Crayon, $9.99) for extra definition.

The models who walked the spring 2016 Prada runway showed us exactly how this look is done. This shade might not be super practical for everyday life on campus, but we can definitely picture wearing it to turn heads at major events.

Heir

The most conservative shade of the three, Heir is a stunning rose-gold shade. Since the color is so versatile and is more neutral, it's easy to transition from day to night.

To spice up the rest of your look, create a simple smoky eye with a gray eyeshadow (Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Intergalatic, $21) and black eyeliner (Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion, $20). This will complement the lip color without letting it take a back seat entirely.

As a finishing touch, apply a light stroke of a peach-toned highlighter (Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop, $38) for an effortless glow that will add to the overall glamour of this look.

Jennifer Lawrence Has Amazing Period Style

Once again, Jennifer Lawrence’s hilarious lack of filter has proved that, despite the fact that we have not starred in a multi-million dollar movie franchise nor do we regularly wear Dior couture on the red carpet, J-Law is still just like us.

In the cover story for the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the Joy actress admitted to changing her mind about her Golden Globes dress pick last minute for a reason we can all get behind: Aunt Flo would be accompanying her on the red carpet.

"That was my Plan B dress," she told the magazine. "Plan A was a dress that I couldn't wear because awards season is synced with my menstrual cycle, and it has been for years."

Jennifer told Harper’s Bazaar that she instead opted for the old-Hollywood-esque red Dior cutout dress she actually ended up wearing because of its loose, bloat-proof front. Apparently, the other dress was way tight—and let’s be real: no one is about that body-con lifestyle during that time of the month. Jennifer put it best, saying, “I'm not going to suck in my uterus. I don't have to do that.” We feel you, girl. We’re sure the dress’s bright red hue was probably majorly comforting too, just in case of any, erm, emergencies.

Not that we could have guessed that she was surfing the crimson tide—J-Law looked flawless as always accepting her Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy or musical. Note to self: side cutouts are always the way to go when the period struggle becomes all too real. You go girl.

Glamour Defends Decision to Include Amy Schumer in Plus-Size Issue

On a refreshing note, Glamour recently released a plus-size issue called "Chic at Any Size," which is a nice change from the usual stick-thin models we see on newsstands. It hasn't all gone well, though—the magazine is receiving serious backlash from comedian Amy Schumer after they included her in the issue.

Although the issue framed her in a positive manner by including her name under "The Women Who Inspire Us" on the front cover, Glamour never contacted Schumer about her inclusion. Schumer took to Instagram, talking about how she fluctuates between size 6 and 8, whereas plus size in America is considered size 16.

Cue damage control. Glamour Editor in Chief Cindi Leive took to Twitter went on Nightline to try to make peace with Amy Schumer, but also to defend the plus-size issue. On Twitter, Leive expressed Glamour's love for Schumer and explained that they chose her name on the cover because of her inspiring body-positivity messages. She also went on to point out that the issue never actually called her plus-size.

During Leive's Nightline interview, she explained that they included Schumer's name and article because the issue was about spreading the message that there are great clothes for everyone. She didn't intend for Schumer to be portrayed as plus-size in any way.

"The cover line says 'Women Who Inspire Us,' and we felt the audience for this special edition would be inspired by her completely hilarious and constant, consistent message of body positivity," said Leive in the interview.

It's great to see the magazine take a turn to emphasize body positivity—and plus-size or not, Glamour is right in saying Amy Schumer is a trailblazer in the body positivity movement.

We couldn't be more excited for the release of J.K. Rowling's new book-to-movie adaptation, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Originally published as a fictional textbook in 2001, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them can be found on Harry Potter's school supply list in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The book details the history of magical beasts in the HP world and also includes notes scribbled in the margins by Harry, Ron and Hermione.

The film, however, will mainly focus on the life of the textbook's author, Newt Scamander, and is set about 70 years before Harry Potter's story begins.

But true Harry Potter fans are probably already aware of all these details and are really just here to watch the fresh footage. This new trailer, which was released during Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, has us all kinds of pumped for the film's November release. Check it out below:

Kanye West Isn't Done Ranting About Taylor Swift

$

We'll never forget that infamous 2009 MTV VMA moment when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift while she was accepting her award—and apparently Kanye can't forget it either. Kayne is known for being incredibly outspoken, and his frequent rants on Twitter are a testament to this. Although Kanye and Taylor claimed that they were friends, Kanye's controversial "Famous" lyric referring to Tay made us seriously question that.

And it seems like Kanye just can't stop talking about the "Bad Blood" singer. While at a show on Saturday night, Kanye once again brought up that time he interrupted Taylor mid-acceptance speech.

According to Kanye, Lady Gaga canceled their tour after the VMA incident, believing he was acting completely immature. Because of this, Kanye proceeded to call that event "the beginning of the end of my life."

He also added, "I had to fight every day of my life when the whole world turned against me for saying out loud what everyone else felt, but that's the job of an artist, of a true artist." Kayne, don't you think that's a bit overdramatic?

Despite what Kayne says, he seems to have recovered quite well. What do you think? Will Kanye and Taylor ever be true friends?

This Musician Called Taylor Swift 'Dangerous' After Taking Acid At Her Concert

Taylor Swift and acid…yeah, we never thought we'd see those two topics in the same sentence either. However, a musician who goes by the name Father John Misty recently described an acid trip that happened while at a T. Swift concert in Australia.

In a interview with Rolling Stone, the indie singer, whose real name is Josh Tillman, provided all the insane details from his experience. "The last time I took a hero's dose of LSD was at a Taylor Swift concert in Australia. She was playing in Melbourne, and I met a bunch of people from her crew at a bar, and they invited me to the show," Tillman said.

Following the acid trip, Tillman described his escapade at Tay's concert. According to him, attending the show while under the influence altered his whole perspective of the performance. "It was holy. It was psychedelic. She fully impregnated my dilated soul with her ideology." Umm, what?!? We're pretty sure we've never heard anyone say that about a Taylor Swift show.

And even though Tillman recalled "laughing uncontrollably," he later called Taylor "dangerous." During the show, Taylor spoke to her adoring Swifties, telling them that she's a regular person just like them. Tillman clearly didn't agree with her comments because he called her out for perpetuating a false narrative. "This insistence on telling girls, 'I'm normal, don't let anyone tell you what you should be'" is damaging to fans, according to Tillman.

"It's a very, very false normal. And that's dangerous," he added. Whoa, that's a sweeping statement, especially considering that millions of girls look up to Taylor.
