Kim Kardashian Has a Secret Snapchat Just for Lurking

Kim Kardashian has garnered a massive following on social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter, which made fans wonder why she hasn’t ventured into Snapchat, too. Well, it turns out Kim does have Snapchat, but she isn’t going to make it public any time soon—it’s for lurking and stalking only.

In a series of videos on her best friend Jonathan Cheban’s Snapchat story, Kim reveals she randomly made her secret Snapchat account one night when she was bored in London and couldn't sleep. Important detail: Kanye was snoring next to her. Why, you ask? Jonathan convinced her, “If I followed some of our friends, saw what they really do in their real life—wasted and acting so crazy—I would never be friends with them again.”

Cutting off ties with friends because of what they post may be a bit extreme, but we've all seen things on Snapchat that've made us question who our friends are. Looks like we're all a little more like Kim Kardashian than we thought.

Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Fell in Love in The Cutest Way

Double dates can be really romantic or just plain awkward. For Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, it was a little bit of both. In SiriusXM's Entertainment Weekly Radio Deadpool special, Reynolds shared the story of how he and his wife fell in love: while on a date with other people!

Reynolds and Lively met on the set of the 2011 film Green Lantern. Though the film itself "obviously didn't work," Reynolds has no regrets because it was where he and his future wife started out their relationship as “buddies.”

A year after Green Lantern, they decided as friends to go on a double date with other people. But things didn't go so well, at least for the dates they brought along. Reynolds admits there were "fireworks" between him and Lively, rather than with the girl he was actually dating.

While that had to be undoubtedly awkward for their respective dates, we’re glad things worked out between Reynolds and Lively. The couple got married in 2012 and last year, their beautiful daughter James was born.

When reminiscing on how their relationship unfolded, the actor added, "I think the best way to have a relationship is to start as friends."

Melissa McCarthy Just Made a New Kanye West Song

That’s right, one of our favorite funny ladies can now add rapper to her repertoire. In a series of promos for this week’s Saturday Night Live, Melissa McCarthy is endlessly funny while getting her nails done alongside SNL cast member Vanessa Bayer. Melissa will be this week’s host with musical guest Kanye West.

Melissa’s comedic prowess is in full effect when making up nail polish names, getting confused between ‘polish’ and ‘Polish,’ and making a classic dad joke about how her manicurist “nailed it.”

The real kicker, though, is when Vanessa and Melissa strike up a conversation about their favorite Kanye songs. Vanessa’s is the anthemic “Stronger” from Kanye’s Graduation album, while Melissa’s is “Butterscotch Man” which, according to her, is from his “third or fifteenth” album. (Just in case you were wondering, Kanye has only released seven studio albums). She then goes on to rap the lyrics to this apparently long-lost Kanye song: “B-b-b-b-butterscotch man/ tater tot yam/ put in my ham (ham)/ butterscotch man.”

A true lyrical genius, that Melissa McCarthy. And who knows? Maybe Kanye will perform “Butterscotch Man” on this week’s SNL. Stranger things have happened…

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Returns With a Full Dose of Trauma

Attention, Grey’s Anatomy fans! If you’re still reeling from the midseason finale, or if you're intensely committed to the impossibly attractive individuals that are the doctors at Grey-Sloane Memorial Hospital, you have probably recent photos and videos of the show’s eponymous main character, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), in yet another situation of extreme duress.

In the promotional video for tonight’s episode, Meredith can be seen treating a patient who suddenly attacks her. Various shots of her bruised, bloody face and fellow doctors peering over her suggest that Shonda Rhimes & Co. are not messing around, and that anyone expecting a lighthearted night of TGIT is watching the wrong show.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly while talking about the show and what fans can expect, Pompeo stated that the first episode of the new year is “for sure the [best] thing” she has done in all of her time on the Grey’s set. Those are some high stakes.

If you follow any of the show’s stars on Instagram (for ab shot-related reasons or otherwise), you could have caught a glimpse of a certain megastar walking the fictional hospital’s halls; it was none other than Denzel Washington who guest-directed tonight’s episode.

Pompeo said that Washington’s presence and directorial nature on the show were “so needed and so refreshing 12 seasons in” and that, because of his background and relative unfamiliarity with Grey's, viewers can expect to feel reenergized. Hopefully this means that each episode of the upcoming season won’t reduce viewers to an inevitable puddle of tears and melted chocolate. Or is that what we like so much about Grey’s? Tonight’s episode will surely deliver its usual shot of simultaneous heartbreak and hopefulness, so don’t forget your tissues and comfort food.

Grey’s Anatomy returns for its midseason premiere tonight, Thursday, February 11th, at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

With two of the early primaries out of the way, the 2016 presidential race is moving at a rapid pace. The preliminary results don't affect you, though -- no, you decided on your dream candidate a long time ago: Bernie Sanders. You volunteer for his campaign, talk to your family and friends about him, post about him on social media, and more. You feel the Bern... especially if you can relate to the following:

1. You own way too many Bernie shirts

...and you have more than one of each kind.

2. Actually, just too much Bernie merchandise in general

Stickers, buttons, hats -- you name it!

3. Your Facebook timeline is full of Bernie memes and articles

Even if some of them are absolutely ridiculous.

4. You're constantly having to explain to what democratic socialism actually means

Please stop comparing it to communism. Please... just stop.

5. You cannot talk about the Iowa Caucus without getting upset

A coin flip? Really?

6. You've used Tinder to advocate for Bernie

Embedded image permalink

Oh, you're voting for Trump? Should've swiped left.

8. "Political Revolution" has become a common phrase for you

As well as the phrase, "government of the people, by the people, for the people."

9. You want nothing more than a Sanders/Warren ticket

Elizabeth Warren, we need you!

10. ...or at least Warren's official endorsement

Unless, you know, she's waiting to be announced as his VP.

11. You proudly brag about Bernie's record breaking fundraising efforts

Because it's important that his donations are coming from regular people.

12. You've met some of the best people when volunteering for Bernie

And you now have tons of new friends all over the country.

13. You're constantly being challenged as a feminist because you're not voting for Hillary

*whispers* "Voting for a candidate solely based on their gender is actually anti-feminist."

14. You know Bernie will remain consistent on his views

He's stuck with the same messages for over 40 years.

15. You've teared up while watching Bernie speak

He's just so inspiring.

16. You know he's the next President of the United States of America

FEEL THE BERN.

The Return of Rory's Boyfriends Changes Everything About the 'Gilmore Girls' Revival

Ever since Matt Czuchry's role as Logan Huntzberger in the Gilmore Girls reunion series was officially announced, fans have been desperate for more information. And they got it. Not long after, Milo Ventimiglia was confirmed to reprise his role as Jess, and Jared Padalecki confirmed he'll be playing Dean, despite his hectic schedule for Supernatural.

As soon as we knew Logan was coming back to the Gilmore universe, the ship wars began. It's been years since we've actively heard people arguing over whether Rory is best with Logan, Jess, Dean or none of the above.

We may not know the exact role each ex-boyfriend will play in the reboot series, but we do know one thing: this changes everything.

1. Rory could be dating one of them

Amy Sherman-Palladino confirmed that Rory won't be married, but she did say Rory's dating around. Will she be dating one of her three exes or a new character? As much as fans are hoping Luke and Lorelai are already very committed in the series premiere, if Rory gets back with one of these guys, we actually kind of want to see how it happens.

2. There's the possibility of another Jess/Logan showdown

Let's be honest: that scene in the bar was epic. We're hoping for more verbal sparring between these two because they're both so quick-witted that it was almost impossible to choose who to root for.

3. We could get more intense Jess/Dean angst

Jess and Dean's long-awaited physical brawl in season three was even more insane than watching Logan and Jess fight like intellectuals. Granted, Jess and Dean were much younger and more immature, so they probably won't get into a fist fight (season seven Luke and Christopher style), but we just want to see them interact. Please.

4. We're dying to see Lorelai's reaction to all of them now

When we left things, Lorelai was not exactly a fan of Dean because he cheated on Lindsay with Rory. She came around to being civil while he and Rory briefly dated but never really came around with Jess after he ditched Rory without saying goodbye. She did, however, come to accept and even sort of like Logan at the end, when he showed he was capable of being responsible. Lorelai's opinions of Rory's boyfriends caused some of the best drama on the show—notice Rory never told her mom she went to visit Jess in Philadelphiaand we are so eager to see it again.

5. More Jess and Luke scenes

Whether you like Jess and Rory together or not, we all have to admit that the relationship between Jess and Luke was sweet. It was also rife with banter that left us breathless and perfect moments like Luke pushing Jess off the dock. The show left the two of them on good terms, and we're hoping Jess's return means that he's been steadily in Luke's life the entire time.

6. We could see Emily interact with them

Emily's opinions of Rory's boyfriends through the years were even more intense to watch than Lorelai's. That scene where she's super polite to Jess with his black eye and then explodes at Lorelai over the phone? Perfect. We're hoping Emily interacts with at least one of Rory's exes because even though it won't be the same without Richard there, it'll still be a great moment.

7. Will Rory break up with a boyfriend for an ex?

This is the question we all really want answered, right? If Rory is in a relationship, will she dump this guy for Dean, Jess or Logan? She has a strong past of jumping from one relationship right into the next, so we wouldn't be surprised if she starts to fall for an ex all over again while she's still dating someone else.

Quiz: Which of Rory Gilmore's Boyfriends is Your Soulmate?

8. We can find out what happened to Dean

Dean disappeared from the show in season five, and he never really came back. After he broke up with Rory at her grandparents' house, we only saw him in a few scenes, and he was always really bitter. We need to know: Does he still live in Stars Hollow? Did he get back with Lindsay? Did he re-marry? Does he still work at Doose's?

9. We want more Jess and Paris

Not necessarily in a romantic sense because her and Doyle are an obvious power couple. But remember those few moments Jess and Paris were in the same room together and it was like watching magic happen? Between her bluntness, his sarcasm and their combined intelligence, they steal every scene. Please put them in at least one scene together in the revival, Amy and Dan.

10. There could be more closure for Rory

With all three exes, we feel there wasn't enough closure. Dean broke up with Rory in front of Logan and his friends and left her crying outside. Jess took off without saying goodbye, then came back twice to make proclaimations of love. And they had that will-they-or-won't-they moment in Philadelphia that ended way too soon. After Rory turned down Logan's proposal, they broke up and moved to different parts of the country for work.

What we really need, more than Rory to end up with one of them romantically, is closure between her and each of her exes. Give us a scene where Dean and Rory admit what they did to Lindsay was wrong and there's mutual understanding. Give us a scene where Logan tells Rory how much he missed her after they broke up and apologizes for ruining her college graduation by ending their relationship. Give us a scene where Jess and Rory hash it out, all the drama they've been through since he left, so they can finally actually communicate.

11. We get to see their personal development

Dean kind of regressed by the end of his time on the show, to the point where we were all angry with him. Logan and Jess both had a chance to mature and grow as characters and to show they were capable of change. Seriously, Logan stood up to Mitchum and Jess wrote a book! We need more. Any scene showing how these guys have grown is fine by us.

12. There's so much potential for plot twists

We all think that just because Logan, Dean and Jess are back that one of them will end up with Rory. But there's a possibility that something completely unexpected will happen, like Rory's actually dating Tristan or Marty. We don't necessarily want that to happen, but we're here to watch the drama unfold in whatever way the creators have planned it. Because we know it'll be good.

13. We're hoping that Rory's exes returning could mean other exes returning

Dave Rygalski, anyone? Please, please

Nothing is for certain about the roles these characters will play in the revival, but for now, we're just so excited that they're all coming back. Now, if only Melissa McCarthy would sign on.

I Cut Out Dairy From My Diet & Here's What Happened

Mozzarella, gelato and caramel macchiatos—what do they all have in common? My undying love, for one, but also dairy.

I wasn't always a diehard dairy connoisseur. A childhood of food allergies left me splotchy and closed-throated after any run-in with milk. But as I got older, the pizza parties became harder to avoid. Test runs with a slice of cheese became full-blown gorge sessions on baked goods and chocolate. In the summer of 2014, I enjoyed my first double-scoop of ice cream free of any throat itch. I was overjoyed—I had seemingly conquered my dairy allergy after nineteen years of conditioning.

But coincidentally, my newfound love of ice cream correlated with excess (and practically unstoppable) weight gain. And as my dairy consummation increased, so did a bout of cystic acne on my lower cheeks. The weird part? I'd never had acne there, nor had I ever had cystic acne to begin with. Still, if it hadn't been for my consistently bloated belly (resulting in sharp stomach pains whenever I sat for extended periods of time) I may have never accepted the dreaded possibility that maybe my dairy allergy wasn't gone after all.

RELATED: I Drank Nothing But Water For a Week & Here's What Happened

In deep regret, I decided to get to the bottom of my body changes by spending an entire month completely dairy-free. The incentive? If nothing changed, I could go back to my caprese panini obsession free of guilt.

The Results

By the end of week one, I was largely unimpressed. And so, in a lapse of willpower, I splurged on a creamy, chocolate crepe during my girls' night in. A few hours later, I came to a realization—this was the first time I'd felt sharp and gassy (hold in the giggles, girls) pains in days. Coincidence? Unfortunately not.

RELATED: Ben & Jerry's Finally Has Vegan and Dairy-Free Flavors

Week two brought a pleasant surprise: two less cysts taking residence on my jawline. On week three, my scale read three pounds lighter. And as the final days winded down, my skin was virtually clear.

But what really drove these results home was what happened when my dairy-free days ended. The end of the month correlated with my return to campus following winter recess—a campus full of flavorless food that only cheese could save. Naturally, I embraced my newfound dietary freedom and indulged. And can you guess what happened? The belly bloat returned with a vengeance.

The Takeaway

My takeaway? I likely suffer from dairy sensitivity, and I'm far from alone. USA Today once reported that as many as 60 percent of adults across the world struggle to digest milk. Khloe Kardashian claims to have lost 11 pounds by cutting out diary alone, and countless beauty editors have endorsed the clear-skin effects of ending their milky love affairs.

RELATED: 6 Hidden Ingredients in Foods You Probably Eat All the Time

Does this deem milk as an evil substance? I doubt it, and I will absolutely be comforted by a pint of Ben & Jerry's in the near future. But if you've been struggling with unexplainable weight gain, acne or digestive distress, it might not hurt to reduce your dairy intake. I'll definitely be cutting back.

What It's Like to Be a Fashion Week Photographer

$

0

These past two days have been what I like to call "the calm before the storm." I'm relaxing, I'm sleeping a lot, I'm taking on a smaller workload because I know what's coming. In what's now a few short hours, I will be running around backstage at a multitude of shows taking pictures of backstage beauty in process, listening to makeup artists and hairstylists tell me their inspiration for this season's beauty looks. Models will file in with either fresh complexions or already-perfectly assembled faces from shows in which they've just walked. Their hair will be teased or straightened, their eyes lined and shadowed, their skin moisturized and their nails manicured, and I will be there to photograph it all.

The question I often ask myself is why? Why do I do this twice a year? There's something beautiful to me about how this extraordinary, twice-a-year happening in New York is just another day at work for so many people. Everyone is up at the crack of dawn to get started on each show. And in a 30 minutes, the last six months or more of a designer's life will be over as their collection completes its tour of the runway. Then another six months passes and we all do it all over again. I think each of us—be we photographers or makeup artists or nail techs or hairstylists or PR folks—we do it because we love the rush. Yes, it's our job, too, but there is something so satisfying, so adrenaline-pumping about being a part of the electricity that runs backstage, that energy that runs through everyone when the models simply must get finished in time for the show, all the clothes must be steamed, all the guests must be seated. Photographers take their spots on the risers to photograph all the models coming down the runway and in a burst of flashbulbs and music from above, the show begins.

So this week, what you can expect to see from me is a lot of backstage beauty looks—what will be in and out for next season—and a ton of visuals of models in all stages of being prepped for the show. Hair, makeup, nails, you name it. In addition to that, there may also be an occasional recap from designers' runways and presentations for a peek at the styles to look forward to later this year. Come along with me and get backstage, onstage, and in the thick of it. I'm sure you'll feel the rush, too.

The No-Makeup Makeup Look Is Still Trending

A model gets touched up before hitting the Creatures of Comfort runway

One of my favorite things about being at Fashion Week is being the first to discover trends happening before my eyes. Judging from how the first day has gone, it seems clear that the no makeup-makeup look is returning for Fall/Winter 2016—so ditch those contouring brushes, girls.

When we saw the spring and summer collections last season, it was perhaps understandable that the face might be cloaked in less makeup than usual in anticipation of the warmer months. But for the trend to carry over into winter, in my estimation, makes it more than just a seasonal choice but rather a reflection of our culture of the moment. We've slowly but surely been denouncing the heavy contouring and, if the beauty looks at Creatures of Comfort and Ulla Johnson are any indication, are moving in the direction of naturalness: rosy pinks on cheeks, eyes ever-so-slightly darkened as if one woke up that way (but in a chic, rather than scandalous, fashion), and the absence of mascara for a more youthful, uncomplicated look.

Creatures of Comfort is proof that simple is stunning

At Creatures of Comfort, makeup artist Dick Page, using Shiseido products, applied a greyish rose blush cream to the cheeks with a fluffy brush and blotted another soft rose tone on the lips. He also slightly darkened the brow. It's a look that's meant to be simply "pretty, no tricks," in his words.

We NEED this Creatures of Comfort manicure

Romy Soleimani took a similar path at Ulla Johnson using products from Beauty.com. She chose to highlight models' beautiful, clear skin sans mascara with slightly shimmery powders, glossy lids, and tea-stained eyes. She also used nude lipsticks dabbed over with similarly-toned eyeshadows for a matte look (and yes, you can do this too! Anything that's safe for the thin skin over the eye is safe for the much thicker skin over the lips). The look, as Soleimani out it, was one of a romantic and pretty cool New York girl.

Crushing on these curls at Ulla Johnson

Of course, this is only day one so perhaps the beauty looks will change course entirely; but as of right now, you can continue to embrace your nudes and natural blushes from this winter into next.

Ulla Johnson is seriously giving us braid goals

Ever since the release of Disney’s Frozen in 2013, fans have been hoping to see a musical theatre production of the animated film. And it seems like their wishes have just come true, because Disney has announced that Elsa and the gang are headed to Broadway.

While there was much hype about a musical around the time of the film's release, we are excited that plans for the production are officially underway! We have been waiting for this news for nearly three years, right?

Who will play Elsa? How will they construct her icy castle? We have so many questions!

For those hoping to see Frozen on Broadway sooner rather than later (don’t worry, you are definitely not alone), you will unfortunately have to wait till spring 2018. For more information regarding the production, be sure to check out the musical’s official website.

Wellesley College Names Its First African-American President

In a historic move, Wellesley College has named Dr. Paula A. Johnson, a Harvard Medical School professor and public health expert, as its next president.

According to The Boston Globe, Johnson said she “felt a special responsibility as the college’s first African-American leader,” and will focus on student diversity as one of Wellesley’s strengths.

“I’m incredibly excited to see a person of color as the president of the college; it’s a wonderful and unprecedented move,” Tiffany Chan, Wellesley Class of 2015, told Her Campus.

"It's very refreshing to see somebody lead the college who is so connected to women leaders in general, but especially this generation of women, having taught and worked with them consistently throughout her career," Kayleigh Butler, Wellesley Class of 2014, said in an interview.

“Even among a superb group of candidates, Dr. Johnson stood out through her record as a scholar and leader, together with her passion for women’s advancement, education, and well-being, the energy and insights she conveyed in our discussions, and her enthusiasm for Wellesley,” Debra de Hoyos, chair of the search committee, said in a press release Thursday morning.

Michelle Surka, Wellesley Class of 2014, told Her Campus, “I’m pretty excited that she’s a person of color with a STEM background, and I know from other alumnus that’s the overwhelming opinion—the hope is she might be able to help the school better prioritize race and class issues.” In a country simmering with racial tensions on campus and off that our leaders still refuse to address, this move couldn't come at a better time. It's incredibly relevant as students and faculty look to address issues of political correctness, equality, access, and diversity not seen in many of Wellesley’s peer institutions.

“Overall, I do hope that her appointment will set the tone for responding more promptly to these issues,” Chan said.

The former chair of the Boston Public Health Commission, Johnson is a strong and vocal advocate for women’s health and brings a physician’s expertise to the role.

“She doesn’t have a traditional academic background, and I think that’s a real breath of fresh air,” Surka said. Chan, now a graduate student at Harvard Medical, added “I think that this bodes really favorably for increasing Wellesley’s presence in healthcare and public policy.”

For more on Johnson’s expertise, check out her 2013 TED Talk, “His and Hers…Healthcare,” where she discusses the intersection of women’s rights, medicine and research.

"I believe that Dr. Johnson is the perfect fit because she embodies the core values of Wellesley College. She is making a difference in the world by improving women's health with undeniable success," Sheena Dupuy, Wellesley Class of 2014, said. "Dr. Johnson will serve as a great role model and leader for the students of Wellesley College and I can't wait to see what the future holds!"

The 2,400-strong undergraduate institution boasts powerful women like Hillary Clinton and Madeline Albright as alumni. For a school whose motto—Non ministrari, sed ministrare, or “Not to be ministered unto but to minister”—implies building up young women who will make an impact on the world, Johnson’s appointment will add significant weight. “[She] will help us uphold the school motto to the fullest," Chan said.

We're Not Sure How to Feel About Cara Delevingne's Leonardo DiCaprio Impression

If we can count on Cara Delevingne to do one thing, it's entertain us. The model-turned-actress recently did just that when she posted a short video of herself on Instagram impersonating the one and only Leonardo DiCaprio.

While this is something we definitely did not see coming, let’s just say we have become used to seeing funny/weird things from the starlet.

So, how exactly did she pull off the face swap? Delevingne used an app that has the power to magically transform the user's face into just about anyone. As you can see, she chose Oscar nominee Leo’s face because who wouldn’t? Coincidentally, we have a feeling this won’t be the last time we see Cara try this out—fingers crossed.

Taylor Swift's Squad is Rallying Against Kanye West

Well, somehow we knew this truce wouldn't last. Kanye West's new song "Famous" disses Taylor Swift by claiming he and the 1989 pop star "might have sex" and that he made her famous. This isn't Kanye's first confrontation with T. Swift. We all remember their infamous run-in at the VMAs in 2009. As Taylor was accepting the Best Female Video Award for one of her breakout songs, "You Belong With Me," Kanye rushed the stage and proclaimed that Beyoncé deserved the award instead. Not cool at all. It looks like Kanye's trying to steal Taylor's spotlight yet again, but this time her squad has her back.

Tay's brother, Austin Swift, posted a dramatic video on Instagram, ridding himself of anything even remotely associated with Yeezy, in response to the song. "Getting a head start on some spring cleaning," the caption read. Reportedly, Selena Gomez, though she's kept quiet on her own social media, favorited Austin's video to show support. Just this morning, Karlie Kloss deleted an Instagram post showing her wearing a pair of Yeezy Boosts.

Opening up on her thoughts, Gigi Hadid posted the following tweet after attending West's fashion show the night before.

Jaime King sent out a similar tweet.

Even Ruby Rose weighed in:

It's safe to say that Taylor's girl gang is goals, and we're glad that her superstar friends are taking to social media to demonstrate their support.

Kanye West Claims 'Famous' Lyrics Were Taylor Swift's Idea

Kanye West is embroiled in new drama with the release of his track "Famous," in which one of the lines calls Taylor Swift a bitch and accredits Kanye for making her famous. Needless to say, this did not sit well with Taylor's fans and her superstar squad that includes Selena Gomez, Jaime King and Gigi Hadid. But from Kanye's point of view, Taylor was okay with his choice of lyrics.

The rapper took to Twitter to defend himself in a series of argumentive tweets. E! Online reports that Kanye tweeted, "First thing is I'm an artist and as an artist I will express how I feel with no censorship. 2nd thing I asked my wife for her blessings and she was cool with it. 3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings. 4th Bitch is an endearing term in hip hop like the word N--a. 5th thing I'm not even gone take credit for the idea…it's actually something Taylor came up with…She was having dinner with one of our friends who's name I will keep out of this and she told him. I can't be mad at Kanye because he made me famous! #FACTS."

Though Taylor has yet to release a statement, she's got her entire squad speaking up for her—and Ruby Rose as good as confirmed that Taylor had no part in affirming those lyrics:

Yikes.

What You Missed at Last Night's Democratic Debate

Last night, PBS hosted a one-on-one debate in Milwaukee between Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. If you didn’t have time to tune in, don’t worry! Below you’ll find your guide to the biggest topics each candidate addressed in the two-hour special.

As the introductions began, Sanders wasted no time and introduced his campaign with a feel-good rags to riches story about the origin of his campaign platform. With no sponsors, no real campaign funds, and no nationwide recognition only months ago, he zeroed in on how corrupt the campaign sponsorship platform is by allowing the 1 percent on and off of Wall Street to pay their way into influencing the political process and the future of the government. According to Sanders, income disparity, the broken criminal justice system and inherent corruption by way of privilege are what is ailing the nation, and his platform for the people and by the people would serve the country instead of allowing wealth to entrap the other 99 percent. He even took a dig at Donald Trump by noting the importance of “not letting the Trumps of the world divide us.”

Clinton validated the severity of the “rigged economy” that Sanders is concerned about. However, she also emphasized the importance of focusing on righting the setbacks of those who have been forgotten by the system by promoting advancement opportunities, rather than dwelling on the Wall Street power plays of the past.  She identified key socioeconomic barriers facing minority groups such as African Americans, immigrants and women, and explained that her campaign promotes progress by empowering America to reach its potential by empowering all Americans to reach theirs.

When asked, Bernie Sanders wasn’t keen to give a direct answer on how much bigger voters could expect the government to become under his presidency, or how much more his government would cost American taxpayers. He instead touted the quality of life improvements that Americans could expect from his democratic socialist policies, namely his ‘Medicare for all’ universal healthcare coverage and the advantages of taxing Wall Street to make free college tuition possible. His promises of creating more jobs and improving U.S infrastructure all come back to righting the wrongs of the "rigged economy."

Clinton, on the other hand, was quick to criticize Sanders’ ambiguity by reminding him that voters want and deserve transparency. Her policies, which address key changes like closing the 10 percent gap in the 90 percent of medical costs covered by the Affordable Care Act, implementing paid family leave, and executing tax reform to provide debt-free college education, among others, are expected to cost the American government an additional $100 billion a year. Both candidates were adamant that their policy reform, no matter the cost, would be paid for.

When asked to comment on the number of women supporting Sanders’ campaign instead of her own (such as the 55 percent in New Hampshire supporting him instead of Clinton) she focused on the importance of women being empowered to make their own decisions, regardless of whether or not the decision was to support her. She did, however, imply that her policy initiatives are better suited to meet the unique challenges that women face, before asserting that she wants the support of men and women alike because of her qualifications to lead the nation, not her gender.

Sanders gave a brief review of his history of lifetime of pro-choice votes while in Congress, as well as his role rallying progressive House and Senate democrats to abolish the wage gap and instituting paid family leave in the workplace. The audience went wild when Sanders noted the hypocrisy of Republican candidates' wanting to reduce government influence in every sphere except for women’s reproductive rights.

The topic then shifted to reforming the criminal justice system and improving race relations. Both candidates were in agreement that less emphasis needed to be placed on over policing and incarcerating black communities, and more emphasis should be placed on reforming education, housing and employment opportunities for those communities, thereby alleviating the inherent institutional racism and classism present in the system today.

Clinton, however, came out ahead on the subject of elevating at-risk communities by voicing her support of reallocating government funds to communities with a history of suffering persistent generational poverty though policy such as Congressman Jim Clyburn’s 10-20-30 proposal. While Clinton was able to present a plan of action, Sanders was really only able to go back to his usual spiel about the economic issues these communities are facing at the fault of special interest paid to the ‘one percenters’.

While addressing immigration reform, both candidates staunchly agreed that implementing deportation of children and families had no place in their campaign policy or presidency.

Both candidates also agreed on the necessity of increasing Social Security payouts, albeit with slightly different approaches. Sanders focused more on macroeconomic metrics of "expand[ing] Social Security to $1,300 a year for people under $16,000," and "extending the life of Social Security to 58 years." Clinton, however, focused more on policies benefiting low-income seniors and widowed women who would not have as much income in Social Security as others with a dual-income household or higher paying jobs.

The candidates were next asked to evaluate the role of donors to their respective campaigns in terms of their potential influence in the government. Sanders was quick to point a finger at Clinton for having accepted an estimated $15 million from Wall Street to fund her campaign, while he had accepted none. On the defense, Clinton fired back with plans to regulate the finance center and utilize Dodd-Frank to break up big banks.

The remainder of the debate focused on the most pressing topic of the hour: foreign policy and its domestic influence.

Clinton started off strong by acknowledging the necessity of rallying against ISIS, and continuing to foster relationships with both Middle Eastern allies and American Muslims to do so. Sanders responded with a much more cautious response by referencing the past several decades of unforeseen consequences from the United States interfering with governments abroad.

The candidates reached a stalemate when Clinton reminded both Sanders and the audience that the president’s role as commander-in-chief necessitates the ability to evaluate and take action against threats to national security. She contended that her experience as Secretary of State made her the more qualified candidate for these roles, while Sanders countered that the soundness of his judgment could be more valuable than her experience.

They again butted heads when asked about policy action directed at relations with Russia, Syria and Iran. However, both candidates were in agreement that the United States, as well as the rest of the world, has an ethical responsibility to collaborate with NATO to resolve the refugee crisis prevalent in both Syria and Afghanistan.

Before the debate came to an end, Clinton dealt one final blow to Sanders by addressing the personal digs the senator had made against President Obama; namely by calling the president “weak” and "a disappointment." Sanders countered that Senators are allowed to disagree with the president, and besides, Clinton was the one who ran against Obama in 2008.

The closing remarks saw Sanders repeat, for the umpteenth time, the need for a government that will abolish the privilege and corruption inherent in the existence of the one percent, while Clinton chose instead to focus on elevating the potential of the nation by elevating the potential of the people.

Overall, Clinton had more concrete ideas in the forms of budget and direct policy action to create the government for which she is campaigning. Sanders, on the other hand, was unable to provide the figures necessary for voters to understand and evaluate the scope of the changes he proposes. As the race narrows and the election draws ever closer, Sanders will have to put a price tag on the cost of socialist democracy. If he doesn’t, the race may just pick up the pace without him.

Women Get Less Credit For Teamwork Than Men, Because Sexism

Anyone that's ever been on a group project will not be surprised by this news. Recent findings from a Harvard Business School study show strong proof that women get much less credit for teamwork than men.

Cue the eye rolls. But in business, this could be the difference between promotion and being passed over. Teamwork is critical to the foundations of new business models as companies seek to do more with less every day. And if women aren't getting their share of the credit, well, it doesn't look good for us.

It's well known that women prefer to work with others more than men do. This starts from childhood, with the positive emphasis on empathy, sharing and emotions for women and the opposite for men. Think about the toys and games that young girls and boys are supposed to play with. Girls are given dolls, which tell stories and rely on working with other children; boys are given race cars designed to beat the other guy.

As for providing the right amount of credit, it can't be fully explained by differences in productivity or family committments. The latest proof comes from economist PHD candidate Heather Sarsons, who pulled together research on the dynamics of coauthoring economics papers. She found that rather than being rewarded for working in a team, women were often penalized. Sarsons calls it the "collaboration penalty."

The penalty for her study comes in the form of tenure. She found that when a woman solo-authors most of the time, she has the same chances of being granted tenure as a man. But the more she co-authors, the further that chance dips below that of an equally collaborative male. According to The Washington Post, even sterling credentials and rock-solid research still won't overcome our inherent biases. Interestingly, the penalty occurs only when women work with men, but not when women work together.

There's two schools of thought for why this occurs. One is that women are generally given less credit than men for their work—They're expected to contribute more than their fair share, which conforms to the societal bias we place upon women. This 2005 study showed that when men and women work together on traditionally masculine tasks, outside observers automatically place more value on the man's contribution than the woman's, even if their contributions are in reality, equal.

The second theory is that women are generally less likely to speak up, present, or assert their authority on a given issue. A 2013 series of studies showed that women not only give less credit to themselves, but they also give more credit to their male counterparts!

Sarsons is working with correlations, and she isn't able to account for the whole picture, like letters of recommendation or teaching evaluations. But it's clear: Gender bias exists in academic promotions, and if there's any ambiguity about work contribution, we automatically assume the man did more.

This has potential applications far beyond the realm of academia and paper co-authoring. When we negotiate salaries, run meetings or become #girlbosses, we face this kind of bias every day—not just from other men but from within ourselves. Like any bias, we have to be aware of it as women but also as coworkers. In a business setting, there's no option but to work together, just as in an assigned work project. Taking credit for your contributions—and not being afraid to say so—is an important part of working against years of what society has told us is the 'right' or 'appropriate' way to approach teamwork.
