Michael B. Jordan is Making Us Relive 10th Grade English in HBO's 'Fahrenheit 451' Trailer & We're Not Even Mad About It

The first trailer for HBO's Fahrenheit 451 has been released, teasing just enough to make us desperate for its premiere. It's barely been two weeks since Michael B. Jordan's outstanding performance as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, so we're quite eager to see more of him on screen.

Jordan will be starring as Guy Montag, a fireman who lives in a world where being a fireman means burning books as a kind of coup against the media. Playing opposite Michael Shannon (Captain Beatty), Jordan's character is the young protégé who questions the morality of book burning and seeks to regain humanity.

HBO's Fahrenheit 451 is based off Ray Bradbury's novel of the same name, originally published in 1953. The dystopian sci-fi book was titled after the temperature at which books burn, and provides a commentary on what it means to destroy media. As for why the film is being made now? Director Ramin Bahrani, who says he has always loved the novel, explains, "Two years ago, as I looked at the world around me, it seemed like the ideal time to do a modern interpretation."

While the film hasn't even premiered yet, many have speculated that its timeliness is due to President Trump. Bahrani has, however, countered that it shouldn't be assumed to be about the presidency because it's also about "the 30, 40 years prior to that."

Regardless of Bahrani's inspirations for creating this flick, we will be waiting to see how the film relates to our lives today. Fahrenheit 451 is slated for a May release on HBO.

Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid to Say 'I Love You' First

$

Rattlesnakes make us shake in our combat boots. Skydiving shocks us, bombed midterms haunt us and getting a job after graduation just straight-up scares us. These things are, without a doubt, terrifying. However, many collegiettes would face all four of them in a heartbeat if it meant skipping out on being the first to take the great leap of L-O-V-E faith.

Saying “I love you” for the first time may seem particularly petrifying…but it doesn’t have to be! So go ahead—shout it from the rooftop, sing it to the world or, at the very least, whisper it to your SO. Read on to remind yourself that there’s nothing wrong with telling him or her how you really feel.

1. There are no set rules

Your syllabus tells you that you must submit your 10-page paper by midnight on Monday. Your internship supervisor requires you to show up by 7 a.m. on Fridays. But who or what decides when it’s the right time to drop the L-word? Well, that’s all you.

College of Charleston senior Marissa Myhill dealt with this inner dilemma while trying to determine whether or not to speak up. “I did not say I love you first, but I had told him I was falling in love with him,” she says. “He responded with: ‘Well let me be the first to say, I love you Marissa.’"

Although Marissa was the first to mention the subject, she didn’t think she could commit to it entirely. “I wanted to say it, but I think what held me back was I felt like it was too soon or we hadn't been together long enough to say it,” Marissa says. She also points out that it wasn’t the first time she’s felt restricted by the rules we’re led to believe exist. They’re not real, so don’t let them run (or ruin) your love life!

2. When you know, you know

Remember when Karen from Mean Girls recognized there was a 30-percent chance it was already raining because she could feel it in her boobs? While we assume/hope your romance radar is just a teensy bit more accurate, the same idea applies.

It doesn’t matter when—or where—you feel the love. Whether it’s in your head during a date, your shoulders mid-kiss, your knees after a weekend trip or your toes on a random Tuesday, the sensation has a way of making you hyperaware of its presence. So, unless you want to deal with tingly toes until your SO finally takes it upon himself or herself to say I love you, you’ll be better off if you go with what you know.

3. It’s easier than waiting

Good things do come to those who wait. Whoever said that first wasn’t wrong. But even better things come to those who ditch the waiting game and speak from the heart. In the words of Temple University senior Leah Wenhold, “Being the first to say I love you is better than being the last!”

Instead of sitting on a seriously strong “I love you” because you think the hands of some imaginary clock are pointing to the wrong time, stand up and stop being so overly patient that it’s silencing your ability to share your feelings!

4. Your SO probably feels the same way…and is probably nervous, too

The fear of rejection is real—so real, in fact, that we’ve all been there. “It may seem daunting if it's the first time you've ever said I love you,” says Stephanie Huynh, a freshman at Lehigh University. Stephanie may be spot-on about the intimidation surrounding our three favorite words, but what she says next really gets to the heart of the matter. “If you can tell they feel the same way and they're just as nervous, I don't see any problem with ‘exposing’ your love first. Chances are, they feel the same”

Belmont University sophomore Sarah Self experienced this firsthand. “My boyfriend and I had been long distance for about six months, practically the whole time we were dating,” she says. “I was so chicken about saying it because I'd never told anyone I'd loved them in that way before. Finally, I just worked up the nerve and kind of half said it. I hinted in a text, saying ‘Well, that's not the only thing I love about you.’ When he asked what else I loved, I said, ‘You.’” Sarah was beyondnervous throughout the time it took for her boyfriend to respond. He then told her he felt the same way. As Sarah puts it, sharing her feelings “was so worth it.”

While there is no official right or wrong time to say I love you, there is (or will be) a right time for you. You’ll know exactly when it strikes, and, though you should never feel pressured into talking before you’re ready, we hope you find comfort in your freedom to reveal how you feel whenever the heck you please.

Jennifer Lawrence Admits She 'Wanted to Kill' Harvey Weinstein After Finding Out About Assault Allegations

Jennifer Lawrence has a thing or two to say about those Harvey Weinstein sexual assault allegations.

In a recent interview with Bill Whitaker on 60 Minutes, Lawrence became transparent about the extreme anger she felt: "What he did is criminal and deplorable. And when it came out and I heard about it, I wanted to kill him. The way that he destroyed so many women's lives. I want to see him in jail."

The 27-year-old actress also discussed her initial reaction to the heinous sexual assault and harassment claims against the seemingly untouchable Weinstein.

Originally, Lawrence wasn't aware of the multitude of accusations as she, fortunately, had never been put in any uncomfortable situation by the film producer. She told People back in October that had worked with Weinstein five years prior and "did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations."

"This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting," she said. "My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.”

Weinstein later turned around and tried to use Lawrence’s neutral statements as evidence for his defense in a class-action lawsuit filed by the long list of women he abused. Telling her side of the story, Lawrence had said, referring to Weinstein, that he had only ever been nice to her.

But she wouldn’t accept the twisting of her words and released another statement saying, “Harvey Weinstein and his company are continuing to do what they have always done which is to take things out of context and use them for their own benefit. This is what predators do, and it must stop.”

More than 60 women have spoken out against Weinstein since news of the scandal first broke in October 2017.

While Justin Bieber's standing in the court of public opinion seems to sway precariously at times, things are looking up for the musician in 2018. According to a report from TMZ, Justin's brand is in the process of trademarking his name for a new clothing line. The spin? Justin will be trademarking and using his middle name"Drew" for the entire line.

In addition to just "Drew," the company has applied for "House of Drew" along with the French "La Maison Drew" as well.

This will be the third (and hopefully final) time Justin and his team have applied for these trademarks, which will mark their third venture into the fashion world.

A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on

In keeping with J Bieb's typical style, we're expecting some serious street-wear vibes with plenty of loose-fitting pieces. While the whole project is in its very early stages, we do know that the line will include hoodies, t-shirts, skirts, shorts, and pants. As of yet, there's been no word on La Maison Drew "romphims".

Now we're just waiting on the Selena "Marie" Gomez collection announcement.

7 Bold Beauty Tips for the Girl Who Usually Doesn’t Wear Makeup

Sometimes, the thought of wearing bright red lipstick to class is exactly our idea of stepping up our makeup game. Other times, it seems seriously terrifying. Honestly, even a tube of mascara can be intimidating, especially if you aren’t big on wearing makeup.

Except – is it really?

Most of the time, bold makeup (and any makeup in general) isn’t scary because we hate it, it’s scary because we’re not sure how to or if we can pull it off. But anyone can pull off a bold makeup look – it just takes faith, trust, and some bright, pigmented dust!

So even if you don’t usually wear makeup, you can still have fun being bright and trendy, or dark and vampy if that’s more your vibe. Here are seven of our favorite tips on pulling off bold beauty looks!

1. Start small

We’re all guilty of this: when we decide to try a new trend, sometimes we commit to wearing it for the whole day, which can make it feel ten times more intimidating. Start small! Wear some bright lipstick or funky eyeliner when you’re running your morning errands and you know you’ll be home after an hour or two. Less commitment and less stress.

2. Pick an event

Rebecca Breitstein, a sophomore at the University of Southern California, says that as someone who usually doesn’t wear much makeup, she prefers to save bold looks for special occasions.

“I reserve bold trends for dance shows, going out, etc.—times when I want to stand out and take my look to another level. Bold looks draw a lot of attention,” says Breitstein. “I like wearing less makeup and impressing others at my own discretion.”

If this sounds like you, save that smokey eye for your next night out!

3. Keep everything else simple

Not only is this tip helpful if you don’t usually wear makeup, it’s just great practice, in general, to balance out drama with some neutrals. Pick one feature to play up, whether it’s a rainbow highlighter on your cheeks or coral lipstick, and let that be the focal point of your look.

4. Work with your favorite color

If you’re not sure where to even start, pick a favorite color and make that the theme of your makeup. If you love the color you’re wearing, you won’t be as nervous about wearing that purple eyeshadow or lipstick. And when in doubt, you can always check out Sephora's Bestseller's list for ideas on classic reds, or their New products list for just-released shadows.

5. Enlist some help

Keep an eye out for free makeup classes or makeovers at your local department stores, Sephora, Ulta, or any other beauty store. You can ask the makeup artist to give you a bolder look and learn about some new techniques and products from a professional.

6. Check out some YouTube videos

If finding a free makeover class doesn’t work out, or if you want some more inspiration, turn to YouTube for inspiration and tutorials. Check out beauty gurus like Nikkie Tutorials or Nellie Robert for tips, tricks, and step by step videos. If you usually don’t wear makeup, search for bold makeup looks with drugstore products. That way you can invest less and experiment more. YouTuber Sarahy Delarosa has a great video using drugstore makeup to create a bold look! You can check it out here.

7. Try it at home first

Another huge mistake people make is trying their bold makeup out for the first time while getting ready for the day or evening. Test out the look or product you want to use once or twice before you’re ready to take it outside. This way, you’ll feel confident and ready to rock your look.

Gabrielle Oates, a senior at Boston University, says that makeup should match your mood. “It’s something that’s important to be in the mood for bold looks or you’ll feel off and exposed when you’re wearing it,” says Oates. "But when the mood is right - you feel like a queen."

Feeling ready to step out of your makeup comfort zone? Swipe on some colored eyeliner, dab on some glitter, and get ready to make heads turn!

Hope Hicks Is the Latest Member of the Trump Administration to Be Interviewed by the House Intelligence Committee

The House Intelligence Committee has met with another Trump administration member behind closed doors about Russia. This time, it was Hope Hicks.

Trump's former aide and now White House communications director was brought in on Tuesday to speak privately to the committee in regards to Russia playing a part in the 2016 election that lead to Donald Trump becoming president. As the Associated Press points out, she is a key witness to his actions over the last few years from his announcement that he would run, to his path along the campaign trail where she was his spokeswoman and now as he navigates the White House. Her testimony could be crucial.

But will she be willing to reveal anything? After Steve Bannon invoked the executive privilege on behalf of Trump during his questioning and refused to answer anything anything beyond the 2016 election time frame, would she be willing to invoke the same privilege? Or will she actually be forthcoming and honest?

The House Intelligence Comittee member Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff of California tells CNN, "We don't know at this point if she will testify completely or fully as others who have served in the administration have, or whether she will do what Steve Bannon did, which was stonewall. We hope obviously she will be cooperative, but at this point I don't know what we can expect."

So far, those familiar with the interview say Hicks's lawyer has said she will not discuss questions about the time period following the campaign in accordance with a request from White House, though she reportedly did still answer some questions about the transition period. It remains unclear whether she will be subpoenaed for further information as former Trump aide Steve Bannon was.

Of course, she will likely be questioned about other scandalous headlines the president has created in his relatively short time in office, but it's the Russia questions that are most in need of answers. It's problematic and also incredibly telling that none of the Trump administration members, current or former, are willing to answer any questions about Russia's involvement in the election. What are the employees trying to hide? Are they trying to stop the ship from sinking? Why will none of them answer any questions regarding the situation?

For now, the questions are merely preliminary and investigators have more to slog through before they can even touch the topic of Russia.

But don't worry. Before his communications director went in for questioning, Trump went on a tweeting tirade quoting Fox News commentators who say that they can offer no evidence of collusion and ended it with an all-caps "WITCH HUNT!" If you have nothing to hide, why put on the show?

Serena Williams's Husband Surprised Her With Billboards Calling Her the 'Greatest Mom of All Time'& It's Officially the New Standard for Relationship Goals

Significant others everywhere, take note: because Serena Williams's husband just set a new standard when it comes to relationship goals.

The tennis champion's husband (and Reddit co-founder) Alexis Ohanian decided to go big or go home when it came to supporting and encouraging his wife as she headed to her second professional tennis competition since giving birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. and suffering a pulmonary embolism as a result of the pregnancy five months ago.

While many guys would go for flowers or some nice jewelry (which is all well and good) Ohanian took things to the next level by purchasing not one, but four billboards to tell Williams how much he loves her. Ohanian put the billboards up along I-10 in Palm Springs, California, a route he knew his wife would be taking on her way to the 2018 BNP Paribas Open. In succession, they adorably read, "Greatest Momma of All Time. Serena Williams G.M.O.A.T," and feature some seriously sweet photos of Alexis Jr. and her amazing mother.

"These just went up on alongside I-10 into Palm Springs," Ohanian captioned the photos he posted to Instagram of his thoughtful gift. "@olympiaohanian & I wanted to welcome her back to tennis. Designed them myself, with some help from Jr. #GMOAT"

All I can say is that Valentine's Day 2019 is exactly 352 days away, which is plenty of time for our SO's to figure out how they're going to rent out billboards to proclaim their love to us — I'm just saying.

Apparently a Starbucks Barista Had to Ask Oprah How to Spell Her Name Because Celebs Are ~Just Like Us~

Celebs, they're ~just like us!~ Well, sort of. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling sat down with E! News ahead of the release of their new movie A Wrinkle in Time, which is scheduled to hit theaters March 9. Considering all three women are mega-celebs, the conversation unsurprisingly turned to whether or not they still do "normal people things" like pumping their own gas and going on Starbucks runs.

While both Mindy and Oprah owned up to the fact that they haven't pumped their own gas in years, Oprah *did* reveal that she yes, still blesses us all with her presence at Starbucks occasionally.

"Can you imagine writing 'Oprah' on a coffee cup?" Kaling asked in response. (Answer: no.) And that's when Oprah revealed her gem of a story about the time a Starbucks barista not only asked for her name, but asked her how to spell it.

"Oh my god, I just went two days ago and the woman said, 'Name?' and I said, 'Oprah,' and she said, 'How do you spell that?'" Oprah said, causing Reese, Mindy and basically all of us to errupt in laughter.

This story has two v important takeaways: First, who is this poor barista whose life has not been blessed with the knowledge of Oprah's existence until she placed an order at Starbucks? Here's hoping she has since seen the light of Oprah's general fabulousness. Second, and most importantly, in case I possibly needed another reason to frequent Starbucks, I now have one — because you never know when you may run into Oprah ordering her latte in line ahead of you. (A girl can dream, right?)

7 Ways To Enjoy Spring Break When You’re Stuck At Home

According to every cliché teen movie out there, spring break is meant to be all about teeny bikinis, booze and a wild trip to Panama City Beach. Although that may be the grand plan for some of your friends, your wallet probably says otherwise. Don’t be too bummed! Contrary to popular belief, spring break can be just as fun at home as it is on a trip (and think of all the money you won’t have to spend!). We spoke to a few collegiettes who are taking a hard pass on the sprang break festivities in favor of a relaxing, budget-friendly spring vacation. Here are seven ways you can enjoy one of your own!

1. Take a hike (literally)

Spring break is the perfect time to get reacquainted with the great outdoors after spending week after week in the classroom. Kaylee Sye, a sophomore at Augustana College, wants you to channel your inner nature-lover this spring break.

“If you are on a budget for spring break, I would recommend spending as much time outdoors as possible,” she says. “After being crammed in your dorm and library studying all the time, it’s relaxing to get some fresh air.”

Luckily, fresh air is free, so take some time to hop on a bike, explore your surroundings and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer. “Something fun to do would be to visit a nearby state park where you can hike or simply go to a forest preserve near your house to walk or ride a bike,” Kaylee says. If you can, make it your goal to spend more time outdoors than indoors this spring break!

2. Work work work work work work (out)

Let’s be real. When is the last time you were able to get a good workout in? If it seems like literally forever ago, then take advantage of your break and get to work! Walk, run, bike, swim or play a game—there are so many inexpensive ways to get your heart rate going and the sweat flowing. If something fast-paced is totally not your speed, then take a yoga mat outside and do some pilates or downward dogs and chaturangas. Find your inner Zen!

Don’t forget to get creative and fun with your workout—it is spring break, after all! Dust off your old rollerblades or jump rope if you’re looking to switch things up a bit. You’ll be releasing so many feel-good endorphins that it won’t matter that you’re not partying it up in a hotel.

3. Get some much-needed “me time”

Between going from classes to work, athletics, the library, etc., the amount of spare time you have for luxuries such as shaving your legs or reading a book for fun is next to none. Norris Goldflies, a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, wants you to get in some valuable “me time.”

“Where do I start? Hibernate. Catch up on self-care. Finally tackle that to-do list (don’t act like you don’t have one). Revisit that hobby you had to say goodbye to after winter break. Binge-watch as much stuff as you can!” Norris says. “Most of all, just focus on yourself instead of your classes.”

It’s your spring break, so take some time for you. Listen to music, pick up a journal, paint your nails and go ahead, open up Netflix—there are tons of inexpensive ways out there to treat yo’ self.

4. Unleash your inner photographer

You don't need a fancy spring break trip to take Instagram-worthy pics! Explore different areas of your town and take pictures of anything that speaks to you, whether it be a beautiful sunrise or sunset, a collection of flowers beginning to bloom or a painted mural. Bring a few friends along and tell them to put on their best spring outfits—let them be your muses!

If photography isn't really your thing, then take the opportunity to get creative in other ways! Pick up a canvas, some paint and brushes and paint something that would make Bob Ross proud. Browse Pinterest and find some fun DIY projects that you wouldn't have time to do otherwise.

5. Eat like a queen

Are you sick of grody caf food and attempting to make meals in your dorm? Take full advantage of your kitchen at home and get cooking! Spring break is the perfect opportunity to eat a good home-cooked meal. If you’re a fan of cooking or baking, then you know that opportunities to cook for yourself can often be hard to come by at school, depending on what resources your school has. Look up some inexpensive meals and maybe even try making something new!

If making your own meals is not your strong suit, then bat your eyelashes at mom or dad, and they’ll be sure to make you something special. Skip the take-out and fancy restaurants and enjoy a meal you can’t get anywhere else!

6. Get your darty on

Although spring break isn't just about partying, it's still nice to let loose and have fun! Embrace the springtime weather and host a day party with your friends who are also back at home. Find a fun place for you all to gather, such as the beach or a backyard, and pool together some funds to buy some food (or better yet, everyone can make something to bring). Grill burgers, soak up some sun and do it all to a killer playlist—who cares about Panama City?

7. Save up some green for next year

If you’re still absolutely bummed about not being able to go on a trip, then have no fear—there are fun ways out there to earn some cash for next year’s trip! Scoop up a babysitting job, de-clutter your closet and sell to a local thrift store or even have a garage sale. Get together with a friend from home and make the most out of the experience, and treat yourself to a mani-pedi or a movie at the end of the week. Spring break can provide more ways to make money than you may think.

FOMO aside, spring break is totally what you make of it. At the end of the day, beach parties, hotels and bikinis aren’t what make it fun—spring break is all about finding some relaxation and enjoying a memorable experience.

HC Wake-Up Call: West Virginia Teacher Strike Ends, Jared Kushner Loses Top Secret Security Clearance & Senior Trump Advisor Caught Sleeping During a White House Meeting on School Safety

Good morning Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

West Virginia Teachers Will Return to Work Today

Following a four day long strike that resulted in the closure of public schools throughout the state, West Virgina teachers and other public employees will return to work tomorrow after reaching a deal with state officials. In order to meet the teachers' demands, the state plans to give teachers a 5 percent raise, and issue all other public employees in the state a 3 percent raise. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice also reportedly said at a news conference on Tuesday that the state is also working on a way to improve state employee heath care plans, another major issue striking teachers were vocal about over the last few days.

Jared Kushner Has Lost His Top Secret Security Clearance

On Tuesday, President Trump's son-in-law and senior advisor was one of several White House staff who learned their security clearances were being downgraded from "top secret" to "secret,"CNN reports. Kushner was reportedly operating on an "interim" security clearance since Trump had entered the White House, and his new, permanent "secret" security clearance will only allow him access to less sensitive information — a vast difference from his previous security clearance, which gave him access to top secret government information reserved for only a few.

A Senior Turmp Advisor Fell Asleep During a White House Meeting About School Safety

In what is basically the definition of "not a good look," a White House photographer caught senior Trump advisor Stephen Miller nodding off and yawning during a meeting about school safety on Tuesday, The Hill noticed. The meeting was being held as a response to the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 people were killed two weeks ago. Considering the lack of action we've generally seen on the GOP's end since the Parkland shooting, the fact that Miller was seen literally sleeping through one of the only ways in which the GOP has taken legitimate action is pretty cringey. Yikes.

What to look out for...

#TGIT is always one of the best parts of our week — but this week, Shondaland is heating up even more than usual with a crossover episode of How to Get Away With Murder and Scandal on Thursday night. Now all we need is some wine, a face mask and our TVs, and as Olivia Pope would say, it's handled.

Ryan Seacrest's Former Stylist Alleges That He Sexually Harassed Her For Years

One of Ryan Seacrest’s former stylists came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against the famous TV personality earlier this week, Variety reports, prompting Seacrest to issue a lengthy statement denying the rumors to BuzzFeed News on Tuesday evening.

In an extensive letter to Variety via her attorney, Suzie Hardy alleged that Seacrest subjected her to sexual misconduct and harassment while at work that varied from grabbing her vagina, grinding his erect penis against her and even leaving visible marks after smacking her butt.“

As proud as I am and as strong as a woman as I am, as smart as I am and as much work as I’ve done with therapists, it really affected me,” Hardy told Varietyabout her experience working for Seacrest.

USA Today reports that Hardy’s attorney had previously prompted E! to conduct a formal investigation into the allegations. Though E! stated that their “investigation was extremely comprehensive and thorough,” after only two months of investigation the network said they concluded that Hardy’s accusations are “completely baseless.” Then, two weeks later, Hardy says she was fired.

A post shared by Ryan Seacrest (@ryanseacrest) on

Seacrest's attorney also gave statement to Variety, criticizing their decision to run the story on the allegations in the first place:  “It is upsetting to us that Variety is electing to run a ‘story’ about untrue allegations that were made against my client, after they were told that the accuser threatened to make those false claims against him unless he paid her $15 million. At that time, the claimant threatened to issue a demonstrably false press statement unless she was paid. Instead, my client proactively and publicly denied the claims and agreed to fully cooperate with E!’s investigation about the matter.”

According to Page Six, he avoided Hardy’s latest claims during his Tuesday segment on ABC’s “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”  Instead of commenting on Hardy’s reports, Seacrest kicked off his show with some riveting commentary about his painful experience getting his teeth whitened. Entertainment Weekly adds that Seacrest didn’t acknowledge any sexual misconduct accusations at any point during his show.

However, shortly after his segment (and the media coverage that followed) Seacrest addressed Hardy's claims directly: "I don’t want to accuse anyone of not telling the truth but in this case, I have no choice but to again deny the claims against me, remind people that I was recused of any wrongdoing, and put the matter to rest," he said in a statement BuzzFeed.

On Wednesday, Hardy again gave a statement to Variety, challenging Seacrest's public attempts to discredit her story: “I remained quiet for years out of fears that my story wouldn’t be believed and that I would be subject to scorn and ridicule for telling it. I was emboldened by the bravery of others to finally and confidentially tell my story to NBC. [Seacrest] elected to take the story public with a false narrative that he was exonerated and the victim of some sort of money grab. He is not the victim, and I refuse to let him victimize me for telling the truth.”

This incident isn’t the first time that NBC (or its subsidiaries and its hosts) have been in the spotlight for problematic reasons. The allegations against Seacrest also come after it took years for NBC News’ Matt Lauer to finally be reprimanded for allegations of sexual misconduct.

Seacrest is still scheduled to host E!'s coverage of the Oscars' red carpet. Although Seacrest tells BuzzFeed that he "eagerly participated in the investigation in order to demonstrate my innocence because I know my truth, and I believe in due process," certain industry professionals are calling for him to "step aside" from his duties at the Oscars. Although it's unlikely that Seacrest will forego his role at the Oscars, he could still face some backlash for his appearance. Because advocates for the #MeToo and Time's Up movements will likely be prominent figures at the Oscars and haven't been holding back when the camera's are rolling, Seacrest may be able to expect some precarious questions from the stars at the show.

These In-Flight Beauty Tips Will Save Your Skin On Your Spring Break Adventures

When has a person ever walked off an airplane saying, “You know what? I feel GREAT" and actually meant it? Yeah... nobody that we know. Planes are notorious for sucking every ounce of moisture from our skin, leaving us looking more like reptiles than humans (but what else is new, tbh). Luckily, we stumbled upon five tips to help combat those in-flight beauty woes, so you can leave the plane feeling radiant instead of reptilian.

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

This is the Golden Rule of healthy flying. As we mentioned before, airplanes are seriously dehydrating from the cabin pressure and lack of humidity. Drinking tons of water will not only refresh your skin, but it’ll have you feeling less lethargic once you land. Wellness blogger Lee from America writes, “Water is an essential aspect of staying healthy: it helps you concentrate better, balances hunger cues, hydrates skin, and regulates digestion.” And while TSA doesn’t allow filled water bottles on planes, you can bring your empty bottle and flight attendants will fill it for you once you take off.

Oh, and ICYMI, here are the TSA rules for liquids: "You are allowed to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less per item. Pack items that are in containers larger than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters in checked baggage." There ya have it––straight from the government.

2. Do an in-flight face mask

Yes, we’re serious. How else do you think models and It Girls keep their skin looking radiant when their jet-setting across the globe every week? Face masks, natch. Quality hydrating face masks are made up of good-for-you ingredients like aloe, cucumber, olive oil, honey, and hyaluronic acid. Instead of battling with a clay mask that will inevitably get messy (and annoy other passengers trying to use the bathroom), store a few sheet masks in your carry-on for a super easy and clean way to relax your mind and rejuvenate your skin. And don't be afraid to leave the mask on for longer than 10-15 minutes; your skin needs all the moisture it can get when you're above the clouds.

3. Bring TSA-safe moisturizers, serums, and sprays

Make sure you bring along your usual TSA-friendly skincare necessities when you pack your carry-on. We’re talking micellar water (great for getting the airplane and airport grime off), moisturizers, serums (marula oil is a great base for hydration), hydrating sprays (try Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea), and eye creams/masks. “Since flights typically dehydrate your skin, you can experience some major puffiness under your eyes because your skin tries to retain as much water as possible,” says Chelsea Jackson, a junior at Iowa State University. “Moisturizers and eye creams with a soothing aloe base typically work best for fighting off skin dehydration and puffiness.” Oh, and don’t forget your lip balm. Ultra important, especially if you’re planning on meeting some cuties during your travels.

4. Invest in TSA-friendly containers of hair oil

We’ve all experienced post-flight hair: static-y, flat and duller than our Tuesday/Thursday lectures. That’s never fun, especially when you get off the plane and have a full day of adventuring ahead of you. Invest in hair oils— like argan or coconut oil — to massage into your roots (not too much, for fear of looking greasy, unless that's your MO) before you land. And if worst comes to worst, throw your hair into a topknot and call it a #look.

5. Keep makeup in your carry-on for touch-ups before you land

If you’re the kind of gal that wears makeup most of the time, then we definitely advise toting yours in your carry-on for easy access before you land. We recommend flying bare-faced, so you can utilize all of the tips above. But once you’re getting ready to land, add a bit of BB/CC cream, touch up your brows, swipe on some mascara, and finish it off with a touch of blush for an easy, natural on-the-go makeup look.

There you have it–– your guide to in-flight skincare that will have you leaving the plane looking like you were never at 35,000 feet.

Here's What Happened When I Made Service the Goal of My Travel Experience

Taking travelers into the heart of communities to connect with locals on a deeper level, Fathom Travel’s Cruise for the Caribbean trip blew us away with experiences enriching for the eyes, the mind, and most importantly, the heart.

The mission of Fathom cruises? Social impact travel. That is, to establish meaningful connections with locals and other travelers, coming together to make a positive impact in local communities. The goal of Fathom cruises is to be much more than a typical cruise: it’s to inspire travelers to become a part of something bigger than themselves while also helping them explore in their own ways. By guiding people to have deep travel experiences, Fathom hopes to inspire cruisers to make meaningful connections with the world around them, and to carry this inspiration into all aspects of their lives, not just while on the Fathom cruise line. Here’s what happened when we made social impact the goal of our travel experiences.

Antigua: Freedom to Explore

The island of Antigua, blessed with sparkling beaches at every turn, was the first stop on our Cruise for the Caribbean with Fathom Travel. Antigua was more fortunate than many of its Caribbean neighbors, and was spared widespread devastation by the 2017 hurricane season. With this in mind, Fathom travel had no onshore activities planned in Antigua, instead giving its travelers the chance to explore on their own and seek out what the island has to offer. For us, that meant riding local buses to a beautiful beach and then later to a local market to taste some delicious local fruit and snacks!

St. Maarten: Beach Cleanup and Healing with Art

Next, our social impact cruise with Fathom visited the Dutch/French island of St. Maarten, where we joined Fathom travelers in being the first tourist group ever to join a St. Maarten Nature Foundation beach cleanup. Visiting the beautiful and wild Guana Bay Beach, which is a nesting habitat for three kinds of sea turtles, our Fathom team collected a shocking 1.5 tons of garbage from the beach.

Our social impact travel on St. Maarten continued with a visit to the St. Maarten National Institute of Arts. The art institute implemented a free Art Heals program after the 2017 hurricanes to bring the community relief from the trauma wrought by Irma and Maria. Taking part in musical and bodily exercises, we got a unique perspective into how the art program provides the community with the tools to recover. Fathom also provides the institute with donations funded by cruisers’ ticket costs, ensuring that the positive influence will last long after our Fathom cruise ship departed St. Maarten.

St. Thomas: Donation Drop Off and Community Engagement

Fathom’s social impact travel in St. Thomas consisted of a pre-cruise donation drive for Fathom travelers for needy young families. These donations, totaling over $15,000, were then given out to over 200 local families at a dockside “baby shower,” definitely the largest baby shower we’ll ever attend! Visiting families were given baby and child products that they needed, as well as free health screenings. All of this was accompanied by a very talented local band and young dancers, which made for quite the party scene! Here, Fathom travelers could directly witness and enjoy the fruits of social impact travel as we vibed and played with the locals on this leg of our Cruise for the Caribbean with Fathom Travel.

We then visited the local branch of the Boys and Girlsclub, for whom Fathom had also collected donations. Our social impact travel experience with Fathom here meant getting to know some wonderful local children and young adults, as well as coming together in constructing activity tables for the club and painting parts of the facilities. We felt truly welcomed by the community, and it was a delight to get to know both the young members of the Club as well as the adults who care for them. Our Fathom impact cruise provided the opportunity to interact with locals in a setting that we wouldn’t encounter on our own, which is what Fathom cruises are all about.

Dominican Republic: Rebuilding Homes

With dozens of previous sailings to the Dominican Republic, the Fathom cruises have a well-established network of different sites near the northern city of Puerto Plata where cruisers collaborate directly with the local community in various ways. Fathom cruisers have the opportunity to try paper recycling at the RePapel facility and chocolate making at the Chocal chocolate factory, as well as getting their hands (and feet) dirty with community rebuilding efforts in the hillside hamlet of Loma de la Bestia.

For our Fathom travel experience in the Dominican Republic, we put our hands on deck with the rebuilding! Fathom’s social impact travel efforts raised over $11,500 to completely fund the building from the ground up of two homes for local families (in addition to repairing a school building and donating chainsaws). Helping lay cement floors at Loma de la Bestia, we felt firsthand the experience that Fathom creates in its travelers and the local community: a sense of unity, cooperation, and deeper human interaction that lasts much longer than a single social impact cruise.

Making Deeper Human Connections

As one fellow Fathom traveler so eloquently expressed it, the Fathom experience offers a “myriad of stories coming together under one narrative.” The stories and personalities of the people we met along the way in each island on our Cruise for the Caribbean, as well as the committed and impassioned Fathom travelers who accompanied us, made this narrative a special one.

There are stories in every face you look. In the Dominican Republic, there was 17-year-old Abigail, who kindly showed us around her home and shyly shared that she could speak 4 languages. We shared special moments with Abigail, who gleefully led us to a framed picture of her family on the wall, gently lifting it down to tell us about each family member. We built a home for a family with five children, and enjoyed every minute of interaction and collaboration with the family and all of their neighbors. The sense of community we felt as each member of the neighborhood stopped by to contribute a hand, faces beaming with joy each step along the way, was unlike any travel experience we’ve been privy to thus far.

Trump Is Seeking Reelection For 2020 & The RNC Is Already Paying Rent To Trump Tower

Donald Trump has decided to seek reelection in 2020—and he's already started making moves, thanks to the Republican National Committee.

After coming under fire for paying a portion of the legal fees for Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr. in the Russia probe case, the RNC has decided to put its money elsewhere, according to ABC News.

Instead of pouring the organization's money into legal fees, they have decided to put money toward Trump's campaign. The RNC has even already started making donations by paying rent to the NYC Trump Tower out of their own campaign funds. The two payments, both dated in January, each totaled out at $37,541.67. Each.

That's almost $80,000 directed towards his campaign funds, money that he won't even need for some time.

In a comment to ABC NewsRNC Communications Director Ryan Mahoney says, "The RNC has raised historic amounts of money preparing to elect Republicans in 2018 and 2020. All of our efforts and spending go toward winning elections and coordinated expenditures are a standard part of that. We already have hundreds of staff across the country and thousands of highly trained organizers committed to protecting our majorities and keeping the White House."

But that's not all. According to filings from the Federal Election Commission, the campaign itself spent over $470,000 on rent at the Trump Tower last year and the RNC has spent more than $427,000 at Trump properties since the 2016 election. (Maybe they could focus on directing some of that money toward other causes? IDK.)

While Trump filed paperwork with the FEC on inauguration day for a possible reelection which allows him to collect donations, his intention to officially seek reelection was only reported on Tuesday, making it, as Fortune noted, the earliest announcement of a reelection campaign in presidential history. Multiple outlets reported that Trump had selected Brad Parscale, who was previously in charge of the Trump campaign's digital arm—and who notably faved a tweet calling POTUS an idiot—as his campaign manager.

'Jane' Walker Means That Women Can ~Finally~ Have Scotch Too, So Sexism Is Over?

While it’s only February, activists have already made many monumental strides for gender equality this year. From the Time’s Up movement to innovative ways to push for equal pay, 2017 has been a collaborative (and necessary) year for feminism. Beyond these productive causes, Diageo seemed to have missed the mark on what women really want and need. To advocate for women’s rights, Diageo Plc replaced their famous Johnnie Walker logo with a new scotch model: Jane Walker.

According to CNN, the Jane Walker bottles will hit the shelves in March, conveniently in time to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. Adding to the list of women representatives and models that nobody really asked for, Bloomberg explains that Diageo revised its label to entice more woman to drink scotch—because apparently women never drank their scotch when the "intimidating" Johnnie was on the label?

Vice President of Johnnie Walker, Stephanie Jacoby, tells Bloomberg, “Scotch as a category is seen as particularly intimidating by women. It’s a really exciting opportunity to invite women into the brand.”

(We women are just so thankful that Diageo reassured us that scotch isn’t a scary drink, after all! Heaven forbid our lady brains get a hit of the testosterone added to the notorious manly beverage in its OG form.)

While Diageo representatives might think there’s a disparity between men and women scotch-drinkers, women have been drinking scotch well before Jane Walker made her depute. Aside from the condescending way scotch is characterized as an "intimidating, manly drink"-grr, it’s mildly insulting to insinuate that a motif of a woman will influence more women to buy scotch.

FoodBev Media reports that Diageo will donate $1 for every ($34) bottle of Jane Walker to women’s causes organizations, it’s still implying that women intimidated to drink scotch is just as problematic as the system that Diageo is trying to dismantle.

Regardless, Diageo’s press release about Jane Walker is correct; Jane does contribute to the gender equality movement. The limited time scotch gal adds to another haphazard attempt to “help” the women’s rights movement to remind women that the majority of brands aren't really in it for the gender equality cause. Apparently, Diageo learned nothing from KFC’s newest Colonel Sanders or Doritos’ attempt to make chip-eating more equal (but less loud) or the backlash that followed these PR headaches.

But, on the bright side: Despite this lackluster PR move, Diageo does actually pioneer for gender equality within (and beyond) their company. Diageo’s Plan W program strives to strengthen education programs for women in 17 countries. Plus, Diageo was the first alcoholic beverage company to implement the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, which advocates for diversity in their organization and has been vocal about their mission to encourage pay parity.

That's all the more disappointing, though, to see some genuine good work wrapped in some weird unnecessarily-gendered packaging.

It's pretty much a national holiday every time Urban Decay announces a new palette and Tuesday was certainly no different with promises of the packed-with-pinks Backtalk palette coming to stores (and your make-up collection) next month.

Wait, Is Jack Pearson Saying Goodbye for Good? Milo Ventimiglia Shares Clean-Shaven Selfie

Season two of This Is Us has officially wrapped up filming, and we have so many questions.

Milo Ventimiglia, who we adore as doting father and husband, Jack Pearson, has done away with Jack's signature ‘stache and slicked-back style that we have come to know and love. Hair stylist Ashley Streicher posted a darling selfie debuting Ventimiglia’s fresh-faced look on Monday. Could this mean we're bidding farewell to Jack for good?!

Don't freak out just yet. The 40-year-old actor actually popped up on Twitter last weekend after the wrap, promising that Jack will indeed continue on as the series progresses.

*SPOILER ALERT: Do NOT keep reading if you haven't watched the Super Bowl episode of This Is Us!

For those living under a rock—or, probably more accurately, refusing to subject themselves to the pain—Jack met his end this season in an intense, post-Super Bowl episode that fans had been dreading and theorizing about for weeks. In pure Jack fashion, he fought his way through the Crock Pot-induced flames tearing through the Pearson home in order to save a few treasured possessions, including the family dog. The smoke inhalation proved too straining on his body, and the Pearsons lost Jack.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, however, Ventimiglia promised that even though his death has been publicized, Jack—and his facial hair—will be back next season.

“I am happy to have that in the rear-view. But it’s not the end of Jack. There is still so much to know about this guy,” Ventimiglia said. “There’s a lot of life left in him—even in death, there’s a lot of life left in Jack.”

Sterling K. Brown, who took home an Emmy last year for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as present-day Randall Pearson, gave us some hints about what's to come in the remaining episodes of this season.

“We have a beautiful standalone episode for episode 17 that I won’t say too much about," Brown told Entertainment Tonight. "And the season finale will answer some questions and, as always, explore new possibilities for where we’re going to be going in season three."

The season two finale of This is Us will hit screens on Tuesday, March 13 at 9 p.m. EST.

Florida's House Appropriation Committee Voted 'Yes' On A $67 Million-Dollar Proposal To Arm Teachers Statewide

In a vote that came to the disappointment of Parkland relatives, friends and classmates of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting victims, Florida's House Appropriation's Committee has decided on Tuesday to create a statewide program to arm teachers, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The $67 million-dollar effort, referred to as the "school marshal" program, entails 10 "marshals" (teachers) trained to carry a gun in every school statewide (amounting to 37,000 teachers), background checks, drug testing, psychological exams and 132 hours of training, Tampa reports. José Oliva, a Republican representative, calls these teachers "the last line of defense." According to Oliva, it's unclear from the bill whether the teachers would be provided guns or if they would need to buy them, however, there is room in the bill for a $500 stipend to any teacher that volunteers to carry a gun.

"It could easily cause additional chaos and fatalities," Linda Beigel Schulman told legislatures in the hearing room in Tallahassee on Tuesday. Schulman said she believes that, through all the chaos of a school shooting, a teacher could accidentally be shot by law enforcement, Tampa reports. Additionally, Schulman says her son became a teacher to teach, "not to be a law enforcement officer," her voice breaking.

WLRN.com reports that although the bill has been voted on by the panel, it still needs the approval of the full House and Senate, and the signature of Governor Rick Scott.

Mike Pence Says Legal, Safe Abortions In The U.S. Could End 'In Our Time'& Repro Advocates Are Heated

Mike Pence spoke at an anti-abortion group luncheon in Nashville on Tuesday and proceeded to let everyone know that “legal abortion could once again be banned in the U.S., and that it could happen in our time,” reports the Huffington Post

In his speech he went on to talk about how “The President reinstated theMexico City Policy to prevent American tax dollars from funding organizations that promote or perform abortions beyond our borders.”

Human Rights Watch breaks down the ins and outs of the Mexico City Policy, which "requires foreign nongovernmental organizations receiving US global health assistance to certify that they do not use their own non-US funds to: provide abortion services, counsel patients about the option of abortion or refer them for abortion, or advocate for the liberalization of abortion laws."

It doesn't stop there either. He also touted that the Trump administration had ended the U.S.’s financial contribution to the United Nations Populations Fund, which is an organization that takes care of family planning and is responsible for ending childbirth deaths in over 150 countries.

After they all celebrated taking women’s health rights away, he went a step further, with cheers from the crowds, he reiterated the celebration of defunding Planned Parenthood in Tennessee. (Yeah, I really feel like cracking a cold one and doing a cheers right now — NOT.)

As always, Twitter had my back and had some *thoughts* about this too, including California Senator Kamala Harris and New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand who weighed in on Pence's comments:

Though the Vice President might be celebrating a potential end to abortion advocates, it's obvious that activists and advocates aren't going to quietly accept those policies anytime soon.

5 Ways to Get Out of a Date

$

0

The modern dating world isn’t exactly filled with romance and deep conversations anymore. From swiping right to double tapping, affection seems to be shown online more than any other way. Sadly, this doesn’t exactly get our hearts beating as fast as a bouquet of unexpected flowers could. The romantics in us still believe true love exists and are hopeful more meaningful encounters will make a comeback, but here are a few ways to get out of a date — ya know — just in case.

1. Tell a white lie

White lies are what make up the majority of excuses we have listed below. Zara Barrie, Senior Sex and Dating Writer at Elite Daily, explains why telling white lies are sometimes necessary. "If you need to get out of a date and you don't want to hurt their feelings because they're kind people and rejection sucks--I think telling a white lie is okay,” she states. We can definitely get behind this idea of sparing someone more heartache than they deserve. From blaming it on minor family problems to an impromptu work event, there’s always room for a little kindness when it comes to letdowns.

2. Say you’re sick

This seems to be the go-to, classic way to get out of a date. Rachel Petty, a senior at James Madison University, says, “It always works to say you aren't feeling well or came down with something. No one wants to risk getting sick!” This can be true for many people — nobody has time for a cold.

But on the other hand, Barrie believes this particular lie can backfire if you truly don’t wish to date this person at all. She explains, "Don't tell a fleeting lie, like 'I'm sick.' If they like you they will try and reschedule with you.” So, if you’re feeling desperate and need to get out of a date ASAP, saying something like you’re sick (maybe even providing gross details) is a good way to shut down a situation, no questions asked. But if you really want to end this possible relationship, and not see this person again, you’ll need to be more honest with your reasoning.

Related: 15 Things Only People Who Love Being Single Understand

3. Tell them you’re focusing on yourself right now

This is better than “I’m sick” if you’re trying to end all ties completely. Barrie suggests saying something like, “I'm actually not in a place to date, right now. I thought I would be honest with you. I'm focusing my energy on cultivating a healthier relationship [with] MYSELF." Preach! We are all about self-love and inner happiness. After all, there’s nothing better than loving yourself first and then entering a relationship.

If you’ve already been on a date with this same person, however, it can be a tad trickier. This is where you can try saying, “I thought I was ready to date, and I enjoyed our time together, but I’ve realized I’m truly not there yet and I don’t want to waste your time.” This is more upfront, which is good, and it alludes to the fact that you need to spend more time alone.

4. Say you’re still not over your ex

Similar to not being ready to date, you can blame your sudden lack of interest on your feelings for your ex that haven’t quite faded away. Barrie recommends saying, "I think you're an amazing person, but I'm still a bit hung up on my ex, and I don't think it's fair to you," which is very true. Being upfront now will save both of you a lot of disappointment down the road. It can be difficult to compete with an ex sometimes, especially if you’re still not over them, so why drag someone else into your unfinished business?

5. Just be direct

Of course, there’s always the option of true honesty. Olivia Hennedy, a senior at Bishop's University, shares her thoughts: “It’s always difficult to let someone know that you aren’t feeling the same way about them as they are about you,” she says. “But at the end of the day, it’s always best to be honest with yourself and them. It’s not fair to string someone along especially if you’re unsure about how you feel.” We couldn’t agree more. Letting someone down doesn’t have to be harsh, but it’s better to be upfront than give them false hope.

We hope you ladies find an SO worthy of you and all you have to offer. In the meantime, keep putting yourselves out there and enjoying your time alone. Dating can be fun if you give it a try, just be sure to stay safe and be courteous of other people’s feelings, which may include telling a white lie from time to time. Happy dating, collegiettes!
