Over 100 People Are Dead After Another Massive Earthquake in Mexico

Shortly after an 8.1 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of southern Mexico earlier this month, another major earthquake rocked the country again Tuesday evening.

According to The New York Times, the 7.1 magnitude earthquake, which had an epicenter around 75 miles from Mexico City, has left 120 people dead already. In addition to Mexico City, deaths were reported in the Mexican states of Puebla, Morelos and Mexico. The number of deaths is only expected to rise as rescuers continue to search through the rubble.

More than 40 buildings in Mexico city have been reported to have collapsed, and CNN reports that an estimated 3.8 million people in Mexico have lost electricity.

Not only is Mexico still recovering from an equally deadly quake two weeks ago, but Tuesday's earthquake happened on the 32nd anniversary of a 1985 earthquake that killed 10,000 people in Mexico City, only hours after many residents practiced earthquake drills to commemorate it.

“It fell straight down,” Moises Escobar, a Mexico City resident, told the Times, referring to his eight-story apartment building. “There was a lot of smoke and dust.”

Meanwhile, civilians were reportedly volunteering to jump in with rescue efforts immediately following the earthquake, carrying away debris and searching for trapped victims, and officials were asking residents for any shovels, pickaxes and buckets they were able to supply for rescue efforts. All private and public schools in Mexico City have been canceled until further notice, and many hospitals in the area were ordered to transfer patients to other medical units.

Taylor Swift Is Being Sued for the Lyrics to 'Shake It Off'

Guys, can we let Taylor Swift, and her 1989 banger "Shake It Off," live?

TMZ reports that the singer is being sued yet again over the lyrics to the song, this time by songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, who wrote the song "Playas Gon' Play" in 2001 for the girl group 3LW. Hall and Butler are claiming that 20% of Taylor's song is actually theirs, and are demanding a large sum of money for the similarities, which include the line, "Playas, they gonna play and haters, they gonna hate," in 3LW's song.

This isn't the first time this specific 1989 song has been hit with a lawsuit — in 2015, singer Jessie Graham claimed Taylor stole the lyric, "Haters gonna hate," from him. (Because, you know, it's not like it's a phrase people commonly say IRL or anything like that.) Graham's suit was dismissed by the judge.

According to Taylor's team, this latest lawsuit is going to suffer the same fate. "This is a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab," her rep told People. "The law is simple and clear. They do not have a case."

If we have to guess, it looks like T-Swift will have no problem shaking this one off too. (Ha.)

Jennifer Lawrence Gets So Claustrophobic When Flying That She Once Tried to Jump Out of an Airplane

Anyone who's experienced that terrifying moment while flying when the plane suddenly drops due to turbulence knows that being afraid of flying isn't unreasonable — but it sounds like Jennifer Lawrence is actually next-level terrified of stepping foot onto a plane.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about her latest movie Mother, the actress opened up about how the psychological horror film required her to push the boundaries of her comfort zone, often feeling out of control — and she compared it to a super terrifying experience she had on a plane recently.

"I’ve recently had problems with plane anxiety and it’s really similar," she told Entertainment Weekly. "I’m not afraid of the airplane, I’m afraid of me on the airplane and losing control of myself."

When the reporter agreed that flying freaks her out too, J-Law added, "I tried to jump out of an Air France flight once. I can’t believe I didn't get arrested. I got really claustrophobic and I had to get out."

Hey, I mean everyone has their thing — and it certainly doesn't help that her plane had to make an emergency landing this summer due to an engine failure, so we can't say we blame her. We're just glad she decided to stay inside the plane — otherwise things could have gone *very* differently.

6 Mistakes Most High School Seniors Make When They Apply to College

The very phrase “college admissions process” can send high schoolers into a spiral of stress, anxiety and uncertainty. It’s a daunting concept, and on top of getting the grades and being involved in extracurriculars to get into your dream school, you still have to jump through the application hoops. They can include anything from tons of essays or even interviews. It’s important to be aware of some subtle mistakes that can jeopardize the college process; these are mistakes that you may miss when you’re focused on the main parts of your application. Here are some of the most common errors most high school seniors make when they apply to college and how to avoid them.

1. You procrastinate

With the sheer number of tasks to check off when you apply to schools, it’s no wonder most seniors try to delay the inevitable as long as possible. But living in denial is only going to hurt you in the long run. According to Timothy Jaconette, a former admissions office employee at Stanford University and the founder of college admission consulting company Advanced Admit, it’s important to start the process early.

“If you wait until the deadline to write something, you may not be happy with your final outcome,” Jaconette explains. “I strongly believe the real key is to start on your application essays early and write multiple drafts of the essay. If you have a friend or professional admission coach who will hold you accountable for finishing your work early, you can create amazing essays.”

If you can, start preparing for college when you start high school. That way, you can go into your challenging courses with a goal and start building up your resume, adding depth as well as breadth. High school is a busy and exciting time, but also full of hard work. Make sure it isn’t wasted by procrastinating on your application and not doing your absolute best.

“Even though you have so much happening in high school, acing your application truly could improve your educational outcome,” Jaconette says. “You spent so many years of your life studying, why throw it all away with an imperfect set of application essays?”

In the end, starting your applications well before the deadline as well as being conscious of the application process before senior year can set you on the path to success and lower levels of stress.

2. You don’t know what you want

Applying to colleges can be especially overwhelming if you have no idea what you want out of your school and your overall university experience. Investigate a variety of schools, even if you don’t think they’re right for you, and decide what factors are most important to you.

How big do you want your school to be? Do you want Greek life? How about sports? Private or public? What geographic region? Actually thinking about these questions and why they matter to you will make the selection process far easier. Additionally, remember the real reason you’re going to college: to continue your education. No, you don’t have to know what you want to do with your life, but try to explore subjects that could be potentially interesting to you and that you would want to learn more about.

“Go onto Google Scholar or go to a local university library and find the academic journals of your favorite subject,” suggests Jaconette. “Read a few of those articles. Find some concepts that interest you. Talk about them with your friends, your teachers and anyone who will listen to you.”

This is essentially what you will do in your college courses, and if you find subjects that spark your curiosity, look for schools that value these subjects, too.

3. You apply to the wrong schools

Without knowing what you want, you’ll inevitably waste time applying to schools that just aren’t right for you. A school might sound good at first--maybe it has a great reputation or awesome sports teams--but that doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for you. According to Dr. Bari Norman, a certified educational planner and Co-Founder and President of Expert Admissions, students sometimes underestimate the importance of a good fit before applying.

“I think seniors often craft their lists without a true regard for the importance of fit--both in terms of the impact on admissions decisions and overall happiness once you're actually in college,” she says.

Jaconette also suggests looking for schools that match your academic interests, too. “Look for a school with the undergraduate program you actually need,” he explains. “For example, even though it is a famous school, UC Berkeley does not have a nursing program. It simply won't get you where you want to go if you are trying to be a nurse anesthetist.”

You don’t have to go into college with a clear career path in mind, but if there’s something you’re even slightly considering, don’t limit yourself by going to a school that doesn’t even offer a program for it.

4. You take all advice personally

There’s plenty of information about college admissions, but sometimes you have to navigate the information overload to follow the advice that best fits you.

“There's a lot of information out there about college admissions,” Dr. Norman says. “It's a good thing because you have an enormous amount of information at your fingertips; and it's a not so good thing because it's a lot to sift through, it's not always accurate, and because advice and strategy is so individualized.”

Read everything with a grain of salt and think of the big picture. Is this relevant to you? “You can read something, and even if it's good, solid information, it doesn't mean it's the right advice for you,” Dr. Norman says.

Also, you probably are receiving advice from many different people. While they might have good intentions, make sure their stories are relevant to you, especially since they may not necessarily be based on expert knowledge. It’s important to surround yourself with supportive and knowledgeable advisors who have your best interests at heart.

5. You don’t take advantage of your resources

Your college counselor can offer you tons of valuable information and assistance. Most high schools have one or more college counselors whose primary job is to be there for you—to answer your questions, give you advice and make this process tailored to your specific needs.

“Students should have open and consistent communication with a trusted college advisor,” says Dr. Norman. “There will be a lot of voices out there giving you advice about this process; you need to know who you trust most.”

It’s your future, so it’s your choice and your responsibility to take charge of the admissions process. Just don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you need it. Not only are there advisors at your high school willing to help, but there are plenty of college admissions coaches and consultants ready to guide you. Admissions professionals, as well as admissions officers, want you to succeed.

“If you read all the emails I read from admissions professionals across the nation, you would learn about the amazing, selfless and truly caring nature of admissions counselors in America,” says Jaconette. “Many gave up high paying careers to help students find a fantastic match.”

Counter to what you may believe, they really are on your side and are trying to match you to a school best suited to you. They work behind the scenes to help you succeed at their schools.

6. You don’t act like yourself

How are you going to end up at the right school if you pretend to be someone else during the admissions process?

According to Dr. Norman, students will try to overperform in their essays, but it just creates writing that feels forced and inauthentic. Her one piece of knowledge to give to all high school seniors: “Let your guard down in your essay." Your essays are your chance to show who you are as a person, outside of your grades and your resume. Make sure it is a genuine portrayal.

As stressful as the college admissions process is, hopefully you now have an idea of what not to do and can then focus on what you need to do. Get a head start and ask for help from your support system if you need it. And in the end, if you’re looking over your application materials and wondering if it will be enough to get you into your dream school, remember to stay true yourself. You don’t have to have flawless grades and a laundry list of clubs and volunteer work as long as you apply to schools best suited to your needs.

In the words of Dr. Norman, “Perfection is rarely interesting or compelling.”

Living in the Sorority House: Pros & Cons

$

When you join a sorority, it becomes a huge part of your college life. You’ve made amazing friends in your sorority, but should you take the next step and live in the house with them? No matter what kind of house your sorority might have, we’ve pulled together some pros and cons of living in a sorority house to help you decide what’s best for you.

Pros

1. You’ll get to live with your best friends

You can have fun doing anything with your sisters, whether you’re getting dressed up in crazy outfits for themed parties or you’re working together to create great philanthropy events. But when you live with your friends, you get to experience everything with them, from rolling out of bed for an early morning class to getting ready for a night out. Whether there are 10 or 50 girls living in your sorority house, you’ll never be stuck feeling lonely.

“I lived in an apartment fall quarter and found it to be so lonely sometimes,” says Jennifer Steele, a sophomore in Gamma Phi Beta at the University of California, Los Angeles. “When you live in the [sorority] house, you are always around friends, and for me, being around all the girls in the house not only made everything so much more fun (like meals and The Bachelor viewing parties), but also motivated me to study more and get my work done.”

Jennifer says that the house environment is fun and social, but it also helps her academically and is very conducive for staying focused on schoolwork.

Jaclyn Turner, a sorority sister at the University of Maryland, says that her sorority house is the center of her social life. When all your friends are in one location, you don’t need to look far for a good time. If you want to enhance your social life, then living in your sorority house might be just the thing to put you right in the middle of the fun!

2. You’ll be close to everything

In the midst of all the stress that college can bring, convenience can be everything. When you’ve finally gotten into a good study rhythm, the last thing you want to do is trek across campus to attend a chapter meeting. But when you live in the sorority house, all of that happens under your roof.

Jennifer finds that it’s helpful to have a study group of girls who live where she does. Her sorority house is also located in a convenient place on campus, so her walk to class only takes between three and 10 minutes.

Sarah*, a junior at the University of Northern Colorado, says that since she lives in her sorority house, she never has to walk far to attend a meeting. When all the meetings happen in the house, it can help you be on time for mandatory events. You’ll also run less a risk of forgetting an event or meeting, since all your housemates are probably going to them, too.

3. You get dining and cleaning perks

If you’ve become nostalgic for your mom’s delicious homemade meals or her superhero ability to keep the house tidy, then you might enjoy having a house mom in the sorority house. Some sororities choose to have a house mom to cook meals for the sisters and keep things clean, which can be a huge help when you’re trying to balance a busy schedule. Think TheHouse Bunny…but toned down a few notches.

Sarah says that although her house does not have a house mom, her sorority gets groceries delivered to the house. “It costs more to get them delivered, which is annoying, but convenient,” she says.

4. You’ll have the full sorority experience

In addition to a stellar social life, living in your sorority house can give you an experience that you won’t have again after college. Learning to live with a group of your best friends will teach you more about your sisters than you would ever know otherwise. Sure, things might get tense sometimes when you’re trying to decide who gets to shower first in the morning, but ultimately, all your experiences will bring you closer together.

“At first I really was not sure I wanted to live in [the sorority house]; I thought it would be too loud and hectic all of the time,” Jennifer says. “But once I was able to get to know my sisters more, I realized that I would have so much fun living under one roof with all of them.”

Jennifer says that she would recommend living in the house to anyone, and her only regret was not moving in sooner!

Cons

1. You’ll have to follow the rules

Before you commit to living in the sorority house, you’ll want to gain a good understanding of any rules and limitations that are enforced in the house. Many sororities have rules regarding alcohol, chores and visitation hours.

At her sorority house, Sarah says boys and other visitors can only be in the house until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends. There are also rules prohibiting alcohol in the house and enforcing quiet hours. If you don’t do a chore that was assigned to you, you get fined.

This might be a good way to bring some structure into a potentially wild environment, but it could also make your college experience feel a lot more like living with your parents than living on your own.

2. You’ll have limited personal space

Sorority houses might look big and beautiful from the outside, but inside, things can get a little tight. Jaclyn says it can be hard when so many girls live in one house.  In most sorority houses, you’ll have to share a bedroom with at least one other girl, if not more, so you probably won’t have the luxury of a single room while you’re in the house.

More girls in tight quarters also means limited closet and storage space. Jaclyn says that she has to deal with small closet space, which can definitely be hard to manage with all the cute clothes you accumulate for date nights and formals.

But depending on where you go to school and how your sorority house is set up, the size of the house and the number of girls who live in it varies. If you don’t mind sharing a room, bathroom or closet with a few of your closest friends, then you might do just fine with the space you’ll have.

3. You’ll have limited alone time

Another problem that could arise with a large group of girls living under one roof is having trouble finding some time to yourself. Jaclyn says that she doesn’t get any “me” time in her house. On one hand, living with your best friends could be great because you never have to be alone. But for those times when all you need is a moment of solitude to collect your thoughts, you might just want to steal away from your sorority sisters.

“I do regret my decision because I am a more private person, and privacy is not possible in a sorority house,” Sarah says. Eleven girls live in her house, and living with that many girls can make it difficult to get any alone time. There is also the possibility of guests being in the house, which increases the population even more while decreasing the chance to have some peace and quiet.

4. Your sorority might become your life

When you spend every waking (and sleeping) hour with the women in your sorority, there’s a strong possibility that your life will get totally consumed by everything Greek. This might not be a bad thing for you, but if could make it harder to spend time with other people and do activities that aren’t related to your sorority.

“I refrained from living with my sorority [sisters] because I already spend so much time with them,” says Hannah Richman, a junior at Hofstra University. “I felt that if I moved in with them I would never see any of my other friends, and I didn't want to be the girl that lost all of her friends because she joined a sorority.”

If you’re worried that living in the house might put in you a tough situation like this, it’s important to be mindful of balancing both worlds from the start. If you block out certain times or days to devote to your non-sorority friends or activities, then you run less of a risk of neglecting the other important parts of your life.

No matter what you choose, your sorority sisters will always be there for you. While it might be more convenient to have them as your roommates, many campuses also have close enough housing that you’ll still be able to see your sisters easily enough. “At my school, a lot of the girls don't live together, and we live close enough to one another that we see each other when we want to,” Hannah says.

If you’re still not sure if a sorority house is right for you, but you still want to live with your sisters, you can look into the option of living with a few of them in a dorm or apartment. This way, you can test you the waters before you jump headfirst into the full sorority-house experience.

Hillary Clinton SLAMMED President Trump's UN Speech

ICYMI, President Trump's speech to the UN, in which he nicknamed Kim Jong Un "rocket man," was, um, interesting — and Hillary Clinton was among those who weren't fans.

"I thought it was very dark, dangerous, not the kind of message that the leader of the greatest nation in the world should be delivering,” she told Stephen Colbert during her appearance on The Late Show. Instead, she explained what she thought he should have said — as if we needed one more reason to wish things turned out a little differently last November.

Republicans Are Threatening to Let Obamacare Fall Into "Chaos" If It's Not Repealed, So That's Great

After multiple failed attempts to pass new healthcare bills and replace Obamacare, GOP legislators are now just threatening to let health insurance markets fall into "chaos," which would mean rising premiums and, eventually, the collapse of Obamacare, BuzzFeed News reports. While many Senate Republicans have been working on a bipartisan effort with Democrats to stabilize insurance markets for the next year or two, Senate Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander said on Tuesday that those talks were ending — which is basically in line with Trump's campaign promise to let Obamacare fail if it couldn't be replaced.

Instagram Has a New Feature That Allows You to See Who Follows You & It's About Time

Instagram has released an update (only on Androids, for now) that allows users to view whether someone is following them when looking at their page — FINALLY! This Guy Popped the Question by Recreating Chandler's Proposal to Monica on 'Friends'& Now I Want to Marry Him

Imagine this: You’re at FriendsFest with your significant other (because you’re both obsessed with Friends, duh) and you walk into a replica of Monica and Chandler’s apartment to find that you’re being proposed to. Is that not the cutest thing you’ve ever heard?

If this sounds too good to be true, let me just tell you—it actually happened. Adam Fishlock set the whole thing up for his girlfriend, Claire Brierley, and she said yes! Because who could say no to that?

According to Digital Spy, Adam explained the sentimental meaning behind the proposal. “We both absolutely love Friends, and we came to the very first FriendsFest within our first month of dating. When I saw that FriendsFest was back for a third year, I knew that it would be the perfect place to propose to Claire as the event means so much to us both.” How adorable and thoughtful! My heart is melting.

Claire chimed in, “FriendsFest was one of our first memories together, so it was so special when I walked through the door to Monica's apartment to see it had been filled with candles, just like the Friends episode.”

“When Adam appeared from around the corner, went down on one knee, and proposed, I couldn't believe he had done all this for me. It was such a magical moment, one that we will remember forever!”

I hope these two live happily ever after—just like Monica and Chandler.

Looks Like Tom Price Is Caught In Some Private Jet Drama

$

According to Politico, Tom Price, the Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS), used private jets on five occasions. Although Price used the private jets for “official business,” the flights were significantly more expensive than commercial airlines. (Who would have guessed?)

CNN explains that Price’s flights cost approximately $60,000. Yikes, that’s essentially a year of private college tuition.

Politico elaborates that the five flights took place between September 13 and 15, because Price had to attend a discussion with a CEO in the healthcare industry. Obviously, Price needs to be able to do his job and he needs to be able to travel to do his job. Regardless, it seems a bit excessive to take a private jet for every meet and greet you attend — especially when his predecessors flew commercial.

A HHS spokesperson told Politico that Price only uses private charter flights when commercial flights aren’t possible. However, as Politico notes, there were some trips where airport records showed that there were commercial flights available — like a 135 mile trip from D.C. to Philadelphia— at the same time as Price's private charter.  They add that Price’s spokespeople declined to comment on why he didn't take the commercial flight in that instance.

Utilizing the private jets seems a bit distasteful, when Price himself has defended President Donald Trump’s extreme budget cuts — which equate to about $880 billion — on healthcare by essentially stating that not many Americans will lose their Medicaid. Granted, the $60,000 that was allocated to Price’s five flights might seem like loose change compared to the grand total of the budget cuts.

The HHS spokesperson went on to tell Politico, “As part of the HHS mission to enhance and protect the health and well-being of the American people, Secretary Price travels on occasion outside Washington to meet face to face with the American people to hear their thoughts and concerns firsthand. When commercial aircraft cannot reasonably accommodate travel requirements, charter aircraft can be used for official travel.”

We get it, Price has to travel a lot for his job in the administration, but it seems a bit hypocritical when Price previously explained to CNN in April that he wants to reduce waste in his agency.

He revealed to CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, “For us to say, 'OK, let's just throw more money at that system. Let's see if more money helps that out' is the wrong way.” However, it seems like Price might be throwing more money into the system by going on these expensive trips to meet with healthcare organizations via private jet.

Nine Deaths Already Confirmed As Hurricane Maria Hit Puerto Rico Early Wednesday Morning

Early Wednesday morning, Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico as category 4 storm, according to The New York Times after crossing the US Virgin Islands as a category 5 storm. As of 8:52 am, nine deaths were already confirmed, according to USA Today.

By 9 am, the winds had weakened from 155 mph to 145 mph, says CNN, but this change in wind speed offers little consolation to those in its path. At 145 mph, Maria is still capable of ripping roofs off of houses and snapping palm trees. Sixty-one percent of Puerto Rico’s electricity customers have already lost power, and it’s predicted that this power outage will soon hit the entire island.

This storm marks the third-strongest storm ever to make landfall in the US, the strongest storm to hit Puerto Rico in more than eighty years, and the first category 4 hurricane to hit Puerto Rico since 1932, according to The Washington Post.  The effects have been absolutely devastating and it’s not over yet.  Michael Brennan, a hurricane forecaster, tweeted last night that he was “starting to run out of adjectives for Maria” and called it “horrifying.”

Ricardo Rossello, Puerto Rico’s governor, also took to Twitter, explaining that “by 5 a.m., there were 11,229 people in shelters, and 580 pets" and requested that President Donald Trump declare Puerto Rico a disaster area.

The Hurricane Center warns that the rain has the potential to "prompt numerous evacuations and rescues" as the streets may become "become rivers of raging water.”  The National Weather Service has issued several flash flood warnings for Puerto Rico, stating that “residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.”

According to The Hurricane Center, Maria is expected to hit the Dominican Republic on Thursday and the Bahamas on Friday.  However, we can’t know for certain what it will do in the long run.

The Maria recovery process in Puerto Rico is expected to take months, but there are a variety of ways that each of us can do our part to help. Global Giving has a goal of raising $2 million to “provide relief to survivors in the form of emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine in addition to longer-term recovery assistance to help residents recover and rebuild.”

6 Weird Things You Didn’t Know About Sex

$
0
0

Sex––we all love to have it, love to talk about it and love to learn about it (whether we admit it or not). Just when you think you qualify as a full-fledged sexpert, you’re taught something new from a best friend, a family member or your favorite magazine!

Are you ready to learn even more about the most spoken-about activity ever? Look no further! We’ve consulted the help of Laura-Anne Rowell, sex coach at Primitive Balance, to teach us six sex facts that would shock even the most educated collegiette.

1. Most women masturbate

If you masturbate on the regular or have thought about trying to masturbate once or twice, rest assured that you are not alone. Most mammals masturbate for sheer pleasure ––and yes, that includes women!

So, why do some women feel shameful it? According to Rowell, it has a lot to do with societal norms. “Culturally, women can be taught that ‘good girls’ don’t want sex and they should wait until they are in love,” she says. “There are lots of bad and mixed messages going on here.” Additionally, many women feel guilty about their sexual fantasies ––or even watching porn.

Rowell says that women can fight this embarrassment by communicating with their partner or besties about their fantasies in a space that is free of judgment. “As women, we should be proud of how wonderful our bodies and imaginations are,” she says. “It is so empowering to explore your body and mind. Have fun.” We could not agree more!

2. You can pee and orgasm at the same time

For some women, it is easy to confuse the sensation of an impending orgasm with that of the urge to pee. Why? Female anatomy seems to provide some answers to that question.

The clitoris and the vagina are very close to the bladder. During sex, that region feels a lot of pressure. According to Go Ask Alice, a program run by Columbia University, women who have urinary stress incontinence (or the unintentional loss of urine), can “leak” when they laugh, sneeze or ––you guessed it–– orgasm!

If you don’t have urinary stress incontinence and still feel the urge to pee, your body may be confusing signals from your clitoris with signals from your urethra. Kegel exercises and emptying the bladder before sex are the best ways to combat such feelings.

3. Vibrators were invented to reduce ‘hysteria’

When you hear the term “vibrator,” you almost immediately associate it with female enjoyment. However, this was the furthest thing from the minds of the doctors who invented the sex toy.

So, why was the toy invented? Believe it or not, doctors invented the contraption as a way to aide female “hysteria” ––basically a vague definition of sexual frustration (hello!), which was also believed not to exist in women until the early twentieth century.

4. A man doesn’t have to have erection to reach orgasm

Nope, we aren’t kidding! There are many reasons (both mental or physical) why men can’t get an erection sometimes. But, according to Rowell, a man does not need to be hard to orgasm.

When a man is erect, the blood vessels in the penis are engorged, Rowell notes. “This is called a ‘hard-on’ and it is not the reason a man comes,” she says. “A man can come from anal stimulation, mental stimulation and penile stimulation, all without the help of an actual hard-on.” It may take longer, but it still feels just as good.

Rowell has some advice for anyone who is having trouble in the bedroom. “If you are with a man who is having issues with performing, do not pressure or placate him,” she says. “Instead, start pleasing yourself and take the pressure off of him! He will get lost in your pleasure and this may help his performance. It’s sex… have fun and keep trying!”

5. Female orgasm might help induce pregnancy

Every collegiette loves a good theory, and this one could not be more interesting. The “up-suck” theory" is rooted in the belief that, during orgasm, the contractions in the uterus actually suck up semen that gets deposited in the vagina. Crazy, huh?

6. Shaving your pubic hair may increase your risk of contracting an STI

One of the most prominent methods of pubic hair removal among millennials is shaving with a razor. As many collegiettes have surely experienced, shaving the bikini area can cause cuts, skin lesions and, bumps and ingrown hairs ––all of which can leave your skin open and vulnerable to infection.

According to Rowell, this open skin makes you vulnerable. “If you have sex and your open skin comes in contact with someone who has an infection, it can make the infection easier to enter your body,” she says.

When it comes to waxing, the thought process is similar since your pores are open and you don’t have the protection of pubic hair. “In addition, if you go to a waxing salon that does not change the spatula or double dips, or if you notice [your waxer] is using the same container of wax for everyone, this can spread an infection,” Rowell says. “Some people believe that the heat from the wax will kill the infection, but this is untrue. Many bacteria actually thrive in such conditions.” Yuck!

Sex is a unique experience for everyone, and staying informed is the best way to learn what your body does (and doesn’t) like. Don’t believe everything you hear, stay safe, and ––most importantly–– have fun, collegiettes!

Melania Trump Threatens Lawsuit After Being Featured on Croation Billboard

This past Friday, billboards depicting FLOTUS Melania Trump appeared in the capital of Croatia. Next to her face was the slogan, “Just imagine how far you can go with a little bit of English.”

These billboards advertised the Američki Institut, which is a local language school.  Ivis Buric, the communications manager for the Institute, tells CNBC that Trump was chosen as the face of the advertisements because she is the “the most recognized emigrant to the U.S. from this region.”  According to The Telegraph, Brett Campbell, the co-founder of the Institute, says that the billboard is meant to remind people “of the importance of knowing the world of languages and how much knowledge is essential for international success.”

However, people aren’t interpreting the advertisements that way.  In fact, according to The Associated Press, it appears that it’s “meant to be a joke about her English, spoken with a heavy accent.”

Further, the photo depicts Trump in a white dress that appears to be the one she wore to the 2016 Republican National Convention, where she was accused of plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s speech.  If this outfit choice is any less than a coincidence, then the billboards were definitely not meant to commend Trump for her English skills.

Trump threatened to take legal action against these billboards, as the photos were used without her permission. The billboards were removed on Tuesday.

Trump’s lawyer, Natasa Pirc-Musar, says, “I'm satisfied with the fact that the school admitted that they violated the law and that they are ready to remove the billboards and (Facebook) ads.  We are still analyzing possible further legal steps."

"We are very sorry that the billboards were misunderstood as something intended to mock the U.S. first lady," Ivis Buric, a spokeswoman for the Institute, says, according toStar Tribune. "It was meant to be something positive, to show her as a role model."

We can’t argue with the logic behind using Melania Trump as the face of a language institute. As noted by the Telegraph, she is fluent in Slovenian, English, German, French, and Serbian.  She grew up in Slovenia before moving to New York in 1996 and meeting Donald Trump at a Fashion Week party in 1998.

You Can Get Hot Coffee In A Can Now Because Science Is Incredible

Now, you don’t have to wait in line at Starbucks to get some hot coffee— you can get your own warm coffee in a can instead.

A company called Hotshot, which gained its momentum from ABC’s Shark Tank, has made hot canned coffee a thing, because they really care about us coffee addicts.

The founder of the company, Danny Grossfeld was inspired by this caffeine-infused innovation from a trip he took to Japan. According to Business Insider’s Markets Insider, hot coffee in a can is a pretty hot commodity in Japan. In fact, it’s a $15 billion industry. Apparently, North America missed out on this booming business.

So ,how does it work? According to Hotshot’s FAQ page, their products stay hot as long as you keep them in their HotBox, which is essentially a custom heated thermos for your canned coffee. The HotBox uses “innovative patented heating technology” to keep your coffee at the perfect 140 degrees.

Hotshot offers single serve cans of hot coffee and hot chocolate. And, because the company’s HotBox acts as an incubator for your canned coffee, you could technically put any canned coffee in the HotBox to indulge your caffeine addiction obsession.

ABC News explains that Grossfeld tried 2,000 different Arabica beans samples before he chose the perfect formula for his brand's black coffee blend— because he’s dedicated to making quality coffee.

Did we mention that the HotBox is safe to stay on indefinitely? Clearly, Hotshot understands just how serious we are about our hot coffee (or they know that college students need caffeine 24/7 just to function).

Although the starter kits that include a HotBox are a bit pricey for the college student’s budget, this caffeine-fueled innovation is something to watch for every coffee aficionado (or anyone who needs to chug a few cups of coffee before work). While Hotshot only has two different flavors of hot canned coffee in addition to their canned hot chocolate, the convenient, coffee-obsessed market is sure to drink up anything they put out. (And maybe, hopefully, we'll see a mocha-flavored coffee, soon? Please and thank you.)

Staying in with your squad is sometimes way better than going out, and after a long, exhausting week of homework and classes, a girls’ night and chill is exactly what you need! We’ve compiled our best tips and products for hosting the ultimate girls’ night in, because tonight’s all about the ladies (re: drinks, beauty and lots of gossip). What are you waiting for? Let’s get started!

1. Prep your space

Spruce up your hangout space by adding decorations that set the mood and aesthetic. To pull off a cozy boho vibe, just grab a few cheap bouquets, spread out your fave style and beauty magazines and hang up some twinkle lights. Easy, and totally next level!

For a décor add-on that doubles as a party favor, make sure to set out a few of Her Campus’s Adulting Achievement Unlocked Sticker Sheets. Not only are they très chic, but your squad can add them to their water bottles and laptops while you hang. Let’s be real, they’ll come for the girls’ night, but stay for the stickers.

2. Get bubbly

Trade in that cheap champagne for some cute cocktails and mocktails of your own invention. Our go-to base is Spindrift Sparkling Water, combined with a sweet juice to top it off, or a light alcohol like gin or tequila if you’re feeling boozy. Spindrift is great because it’s made with real fruit, and looks gorg poured over ice. Top it with slices of fruit for an Instagram-worthy drink-selfie with your girl gang!

3. Set up a beauty bar

Beauty fluffing is, like, an unspoken requirement for these things, so be sure to set up a beauty bar and get glam with your girls. These are the beauty features you’ll want to focus on:

  • Brows

Brows before bros ~always~, and that’s why your girls’ night beauty bar isn’t complete without a brow station! Set out pencils, powders, spoolys and tons of shades for squad brows on fleek, or if you want one tool that does it all, try IT Cosmetics’ Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil. It’s perfect for thick or thin eyebrows, matches all hair colors and is totally smudge-proof. Need? Need.

  • Eyes

Is it really even a beauty bar if you’re not getting your glow on? Make sure to include some rejuvenating serums and a colorful treat for your eyes like this Ulta Beauty Glitter Eye Topcoat, which comes in eight shades. Adding a little glimmer to the party will leave your friends looking totally refreshed and ready to take on anything after this ladies’ night in!

  • Hair

College stress can do major damage to your locks, so a hair station is crucial for helping your girls recharge their tresses. Set out bobby pins and hair ties for lots of styling fun, plus the Electric Green 1/2” Mini Ceramic Flat Iron and Curlipops™ 1” Tourmaline Ceramic Styling Iron by Bed Head® to sculpt your looks. Take turns playing stylist for shiny, textured, volumized hair, and hold your ’dos with the Bed Head by TIGI Travel Size Masterpiece Shine Hairspray. It’s okay to be a little obsessed with having good hair tonight!

4. Throw in a surprise

Honestly, there’s nothing more fun than getting surprise goodies, so top off your girls’ night and chill with a fun subscription box. We recommend the POPSUGAR Must Have Box because it has over $100 of hand-selected, tested and trusted full-sized products perfect for sharing with your friends. This Woman Wants to Look Like Wonder Woman So Badly She's Had 6 Ribs Removed

This 27-year-old woman has had 200 procedures—including removing six of her ribs (yikes!)—in an attempt to look like a cartoon character. On UK's This Morning, Pixee Fox explained why she changed her image so drastically.

"To be honest, I was against plastic surgery," Fox said. "'Cause for me it was never that I didn't like how I looked. It was just this vision I had of myself in my head." Fox said her vision is a result of her artistic nature. "I started modeling. Then I just started to realize, the vision I had of myself in my head doesn't really match the images."

"Actually, you know, now it's got to the extent that for me it's no longer about just creating a certain look. I don't do this for vanity," Fox said. "For me I see myself as a science project. I am basically a pioneer in the beauty industry. I'm pushing the beauty industry forward. I was the first one in the world to remove six of my ribs."

"Pioneer in the beauty industry" might be a stretch for someone who took out ribs that were protecting her internal organs. Fox wears a corset, which she said is like "an external rib cage." Umm, not quite.

If you're still confused as to why Fox would do this, don't worry—I'm right there with you. Fox has over 400k followers on her Instagram, and she calls herself "The Living Cartoon." Wonder Woman and Disney princesses seem to be particularly inspiring to her.

Not a look alike, just inspiration. I Love cartoons

While Fox claims her health is not an issue as a result of the procedures, I can't say I'm convinced.

Jimmy Kimmel Slams Senator Bill Cassidy for Lying to His Face About Health Care

Jimmy Kimmel has never been afraid to voice his opinions. Now, Congress has given him another reason to speak out. According to ABC, Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy are making a last-ditch effort to repeal and replace Obamacare with their own bill, the Graham-Cassidy Bill.

It just so happens Cassidy has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in the past to talk about health care. In his Tuesday night monologue, Kimmel claimed, "He listed his demands very clearly. He said he wants coverage for all, no discrimination based on pre-existing conditions, lower premiums for middle-class families and no lifetime caps, and guess what—the new bill does none of those things.” Kimmel called the bill a "scam" and accused Cassidy of lying to his face.

You'll remember Kimmel's son Billy had to have open-heart surgery when he was born in May. Billy is better now, with more surgeries in his future, but, understandably, the situation has affected the family forever. Kimmel is now on a mission to improve health care for everyone.

When Kimmel first shared his son's health struggles on his show, he said other health care bills have lacked common sense and he won't apologize for wanting all children to have health care.

Kimmel closed out Tuesday's monologue by saying that anyone who has an issue with his efforts can "shove your disgusting comments where your doctor won’t be giving you a prostate exam once they take your health-care benefits away." Well said, sir.
