15 Times 'Grey's Anatomy' Left You Shook

$

Grey's Anatomy is the best part of pretty much any Thursday night. For the past 13(!) seasons, we've been there while the staff of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital went through ups and downs and figured out their lives. Basically, Shonda Rhimes wants to destroy lives and make us cry at least once during every episode, and she does a great job of turning our emotions upside down completely. If you watch Shonda's other shows, you know that she doesn't play with your emotions nearly as much as she does on Grey's. Here are 15 times that Grey's had you shook.

1. Cristina and Owen's entire relationship

They loved each other, they're both damaged and then they both hurt each other. We just want to see them both happy, Shonda!

2. Watching Richard lose another love to Alzheimer's

Are you kidding me?

3. When Addison showed up

Derek! Was! Married!

4. Watching Calzona's relationship spiral downward

I love them both! I can't pick a side! Callie used to dance in her underwear!

5. Izzy's entire plot line

Marries Denny, and he dies. Gets cancer. Gets pity-married to Alex. Her whole thing is so sad.

6. The shooting in the hospital

Are you kidding me, Shonda? Haven't we been through enough?

7. Oh, and there was a plane crash!

Killed two of our favorite characters, and took Arizona's leg, which ruined Calzona's relationship. As if my heart can handle this.

8. George dying

He wrote 007 in Meredith's hand, and our whole world collapsed.

9. Derek died

My heart will not be going on.

10. Miranda struggling with her OCD

Everyone was so mean to her about this? She was so scared.

11. Remember when there was a bomb in some guy's chest that exploded right after Meredith was holding it?

How/why did this happen?

12. Or when Meredith was drowning for a very long time but somehow Derek managed to drive there and save her in time?

Again, how/why did this happen?

13. April and Matthew, April and Jackson, April and God

April's plot line is a roller coaster.

14. Lexi and Mark Sloan

And Meredith's inability to accept and love sisters!

15. Amelia Shepherd

All she does is push everyone away and then wonder why no one likes her/wants to be close to her. We know you lost Derek, but so did everyone else.

All we can do is wonder how Shonda is gonna mess up our lives next.

'The Devil Wears Prada' is Officially Going to Become a Broadway Musical

Get excited: ~iconic~ duo Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs are officially headed to Broadway.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Elton John and playwright Paul Rudnick are teaming up to create a musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, which will be based on a combination of both the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger and the 2006 movie starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. According to the New York Times the project has been two years in the making, but only just now were the film's producers able to find the writers who will make it a reality.

“Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super exciting,” Elton John told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”

Our favorite chick flick is in good hands too - John composed the musical adaptation of The Lion King, and won a tony in 2000 for the music in Aida. Now all we have to worry about is whether or not our favorite Miranda zingers will be included. (Below are some of her best, in case you needed a refresher.)

For the uninitated, the quotable film follows Andy Sachs, a recent Northwestern journalism grad who takes an assistant job at Runway magazine to work for the terrifying yet hilarious Miranda Preistly - and as you might imagine, her personal life goes haywire as she tries to succeed completely out of her element in the fashion industry.

While the producers haven't announced when they're aiming to have the musical ready for stage, we're hoping it will be sooner rather than later. Or, in the words of Miranda:

Beyoncé and Blue Ivy's Baby Photos Prove They're Basically the Same Person

Blue Ivy Carter is about as #blessed as you can be when it comes to the gene pool. As the daughter of two insanely talented and attractive people, it's no wonder she'd take after her parents in a few ways - but side-by-side comparisons of her and Beyoncé's baby photos prove that not only do the mother-daughter duo look alike, they're practically twins.

Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles-Lawson brought the aww-inducing resemblance to our attention when she Instagrammed her daughter and granddaughter's baby pictures right next to each other. To make things even crazier, she spliced their faces together - and it basically just looks like a normal picture of baby Blue.

Someone sent this to me . How cute is this ?

A photo posted by Tina Knowles (@mstinalawson) on

"Someone sent this to me. How cute is this?" she captioned the too-adorable-for-words pictures. To answer your question Tina, it's basically the cutest thing we've seen all day.

While the jury is still out on whether Blue will follow her parents' footsteps into the music industry, considering how much she seems to take after Queen B already, we're guessing it's not out of the question.

I Changed My Skincare Routine & Here's What Happened

As the fall semester started, my skincare game was seriously on point. I was remembering to take my makeup off every night, washing and exfoliating my face, and moisturizing. I tried to do a mask once a week, but as the semester moved on I was sleeping in my makeup more nights than I wasn’t. If I was lucky enough to do anything it was just to have the energy to take it off it was with makeup wipes that I kept in the top drawer of my nightstand or just with coconut oil and a cold, wet washcloth. Needless to say that my routine for soft, healthy skin was traded for schoolwork and late nights with friends.

My Christmas break began and I noticed that the the cold air, different elevations at home than I’m accustomed to when I’m at school and a sudden outbreak of acne has left my skin looking seriously sad. I knew that my only option — and an option that I was finding myself excited about again — was changing my skincare routine!

The only product I had been using up to this point was coconut oil. I had other products that I had been using at the end of summer when I first got to school — the same products that sat in my medicine cabinet and seemed to taunt me every time I didn’t use them — that I decided to add back into my routine. But I also decided that I needed to try a couple of new products to combat the condition that my skin was in which was the fun part, at least I think.

I took a much anticipated Walmart trip and started a new board on Pinterest for all of my “research.” I was trying to find masks, cleansers, tips and the routines of others to get me at least in the right mindset, if not to give me ideas of what I wanted to buy. Unfortunately with the budget of a struggling college gal I wasn’t able to go crazy at Walmart but I did pick up some new products. I grabbed two new face masks because I’m a little obsessed, micellar water (because the coconut oil wasn’t cutting it anymore) and a morning facial cleanser.

I decided that every morning I would use a cleansing face wash, a lip exfoliator and a cleansing exfoliator. The Clean & Clear Morning Burst cleanser will 100 percent wake you up. It smelled really good and something about the temperature of the wash on your face plus whatever magic is in the formula could probably jolt me out of the grave. Yes, it’s that good. Talk about a wake up call.

In the evenings I use the most products. I feel that at night it’s essential to take care of my face after a long day, especially if I wore makeup for hours and hours. Nighttime I needed to prepare my skin to breathe during the night. I use a micellar water, coconut oil and a foaming face wash. I use the micellar water primarily for removing my eye makeup and then go over my face and eyes again with the coconut oil, so that if I missed any mascara or residual eyeliner the coconut oil will take care of it.

I alternate between a couple of different exfoliating products (I only use them every other night), I also exfoliate my lips again because mine are always cracked and dry. The lip scrub from Lush is amazing, to say the least. If you aren’t properly hydrated and if your lips are as bad as mine it won’t save them completely but it does help to get that top layer of dead, cracked skin off of them. Plus the instructions even tell you to lick off the excess which tastes seriously yummy.

Then, right before bed I use an under eye cream and a moisturizer before putting on a heavy-duty lip balm. I was lucky enough to get the Estee edit box through Influenster in the fall but I didn’t use the Estee Edit Late Night Eraser cream until this break began. I’m not even lying when I say that it not only feels great because it seems to have a cooling effect but it actually works like a charm. I have the worst under-eye circles and bags. They’re awful. I used the cream for the first time and the next morning I woke up and it wasn’t puffy anymore and it went from a deep red and purple combination to just a little pink. I was impressed and a little surprised even. Of course, I know that when this product runs out I won’t be able to afford it but I’m on the hunt for eye creams that are more affordable.

Week One

I started this week with acne all across my forehead and around my mouth. My nose was extremely dry. My lips were cracked to the point that it was painful. I slowly introduced old products so that my face didn’t completely freak out. As the week progressed, the blemishes on my forehead disappeared and I noticed that my skin wasn’t as dry. I still had very specific problems areas that were incredibly dry, such as my nose and forehead. My lips felt much less cracked as the week came to a close.

Week Two

My skin, at the start of this week, was so much softer. It looked bright, fresh, almost like I had a brand new face. It seemed that my skincare regimen was working. Of course, I had one long day where I was too lazy to do anything but use a makeup wipe and it threw off all of my progress. My skin, in a matter of two days, dried out completely and I also broke out so badly. My lips were horribly cracked again and they hurt! It felt like chapstick just sat on top of all the grossness that were my lips and never even helped. I had a feeling that even though I skipped a night of actually cleansing of my face that maybe my morning facial cleanser was drying out my skin and so I cut back on that product. I feel like I took two steps forward and then 10 back this week.

Week Three

To add insult to injury, I broke out really badly around my mouth again at the beginning of the week. The holiday stress contributed to that, along with not staying properly hydrated. I finally got the dryness back under control but I was struggling to get the breakout to leave me alone.  I’m having a really hard time leaving the blemishes alone so that they go away on their own. Patience is a virtue after all… I used a mud mask that is infused with tea tree oil and tamarind extract, and is made for blemish prone skin. I noticed that afterwards my skin was smoother than it’s been in months and I did notice the blemishes seemed to dry out almost instantly after using it. It seems like I’m finally making progress with my skin again.

Overall, I feel that despite the minor setbacks I’ve had, my skin is so much better than it had been all of last semester. It feels much cleaner and a lot healthier. Of course changing any routine will come with setbacks and also life happens in between all of it which definitely affects the outcome. I’ve learned something from this though, the greatest result from changing your skincare habits is the change of a routine in and of itself. Yeah, my skin benefits from this but so does my mind. I feel like I have my life together a lot more when I’m washing my face properly and making sure I’m taking the time to treat myself with a mask while I sip on hot cocoa.

Did my skin improve? Yes absolutely! Is three weeks enough time to have the world’s most gorgeous skin? Nah. Ask me in a couple more months after keeping up this routine and then see what I say. I can't wait to keep going with this new regimen that I've created for myself. As the spring semester begins I feel that my improved skin and I are ready to take on the world, and the cold.

These College Students Almost Died From a Caffeine Overdose

Few duos are quite as legendary as college students and coffee. All nighter? Coffee. 8 a.m. classes? Coffee. You get the idea. While some coffee can be good for you, the amount of caffeine these college students received during a botched university experiment was definitely way over the healthy level - and they were almost killed because of it.

The BBC reports that two British students at Northumbria University in the U.K. were rushed to the hospital after participating in a study that was investigating the effects of caffeine on exercise. Things took a turn for the worse when they were accidentally given 30 grams of caffeine by the researchers instead of the intended 0.3g. And in case you're wondering, 30g of caffeine is equal to around 300 cups of coffee - and caffeine can be fatal at 18g.

During their hospitalization, the two students received dialysis and each lost 20 pounds during the treatment process. Luckily, both eventually recovered.

Northumbria University has been fined the equivalent of around $500,000 for the error. According to Huffington Post, the prosecutor argued that the research staff was inexperienced and had never done the experiment on their own before, which lead to the accidental overdose.

Lesson learned: all things in moderation. While we're not exactly looking to try and attempt to drink 300 cups of coffee, let this be a gentle reminder that we should all go easy on the caffeine this semester.

These Are Seriously the Prettiest Makeup Sponges We've Ever Seen

Your beauty routine is about to get a super smart (and aesthetically pleasing) update thanks to the Evie Blender.

Every beauty addict knows the power of a really good makeup sponge - and the creators of the Evie Blender, a silicone version of the classic egg-shaped beauty blender, just made this makeup essential even better. The company made waves last month for their new and improved blender, which uses silicone to apply makeup without soaking up and wasting any product or harboring nasty bacteria after multiple uses.

While the Evie Blender is still in the pre-order stage (they'll ship sometime in April), the sponge recently reached 300% of its crowdfunding goal via Kickstarter. To return the love to all the women who have supported them, the company just produced three gorgeous limited-edition versions that you'll definitely want to get your hands on - especially considering 5% off all their proceeds are going to support the Women's March Global as it continues to campaign for women's rights.

We never imagined a makeup sponge could look this good, but these limited edition blenders featuring holographic glitter are downright gorgeous.

The beauties are available for pre-order on the brand's Indiegogo page for $28, and we plan to run, not walk - considering the good cause being supported, this is one beauty splurge we're not going to feel guilty about.

7 Ways to Treat Yourself on Valentine’s Day

Being single on Valentine’s Day can be pretty liberating! Just think: You don’t have to coordinate new plans with someone who forgot to make dinner reservations or tell your date that the flowers he or she bought you actually make you sneeze like crazy. Spend the holiday giving love to the most important person in your life: you. Here are seven ways to celebrate yourself this Valentine’s Day.

1. Make yourself breakfast in bed

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so take care of yourself first and foremost by having a hot meal ready and waiting for you when you wake up this Valentine’s Day!

How is it possible to give yourself breakfast in bed without getting out of bed to make it first? With a Crock-Pot, of course! These appliances are an amazing invention that makes cooking ridiculously simple. Your food cooks slowly while you go to class, study or even sleep.

The night before Valentine’s Day, throw the ingredients for your fave morning meal into a Crock-Pot and let it cook slowly overnight. When you wake up, your food will be warm and ready to eat!

2. Spend the day with your celebrity crush

Ever wondered what it would be like to spend Valentine’s Day staring into Brad Pitt’s eyes? Let this be the year you find out!

Kristen Wade, a senior at Duke University, says that watching her favorite shows and movies is one of her favorite ways to celebrate the holiday. “Usually on Valentine’s Day, I spend the day spoiling myself with a Netflix binge and some of my favorite chocolate,” she says.

Make a list of everything your favorite celeb has ever appeared in and spend the day watching his or her brilliance play out across the screen. Whether you’re re-watching all five seasons of Teen Wolf (because Dylan O’Brien is your spazz-tastic soulmate) or discovering those indie flicks that J. Law first appeared in, your heart is sure to fill with love as you watch your favorite actors and actresses with no interruptions.

3. Soak in a bubble bath

Today’s fast-paced world leaves little time to just sit back and relax, and, to be honest, you’re probably long overdue for a luxurious bubble bath.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to remedy this situation. While showers are super convenient, nothing beats soaking in a hot bath for an hour or two. This fragrant pink bath bomb ($5.25 at LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics) will fill your tub with tiny hearts and cute flowers, turning the water a soft shade of pink (perfect for the holiday!).

Light up the space with a few heart-shaped tea light candles ($7.95 at Crate & Barrel), or choose your favorite scent from Pacifica’s collection of three-ounce soy candles ($6 at Pacifica) to add a touch of fragrance to the air. Take your favorite book with you to get lost in, or just close your eyes and let the water soothe you.

If you live in the dorms and don’t have access to a bathtub, you can still give yourself a relaxing spa day. Focus on your hair, skin and nails – things that can be easily rinsed in the shower. There are easy treatments you can do yourself using ingredients that can be found at your campus store. After a face mask, deep conditioning treatment and relaxing mani/pedi, you’re sure to feel more refreshed than ever this Valentine’s Day!

4. Take yourself on a shopping spree

If there’s something you’ve been eyeing but holding out on for some reason, give it to yourself as a Valentine’s Day present!

Aja Frost, a junior at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is thinking of treating herself this year. “I’m planning on splurging on nice lingerie!” she says. “Usually I can’t justify shopping for underwear anywhere but the usual places, but this V-day I’m going to treat myself to a really nice underwear set and robe.”

Even if you’ve ben cutting back on frivolous purchases, we all need a little gift to ourselves every now and then. Treat yourself to something you’ve been wanting for a while. Maybe it’s time to splurge on a new handbag or find the perfect accessory to go with that cashmere sweater you got for Christmas.

5. Write yourself a love letter

While you may not have sent or received a love letter since high school, that doesn’t mean this time-honored tradition should fall by the wayside. Why not write one to yourself?

Write a letter that says everything you love about yourself. Maybe it’s your ability to always get those papers turned in at the last minute or how you’re always there for a friend in need. Write about things you’ve done that you’re proud of and the things you hope to accomplish in the future. You can read this letter again later when you need a reminder that you love and support yourself.

If long-form handwriting isn’t your thing, keep the message short and sweet. You can write things you love about yourself on slips of paper and place them in a mason jar. Use these to brighten your day whenever you’re feeling bummed. Writing them on Valentine’s Day, when they’re coming from a place of love, will make these little notes seem that much more special when you read them later.

6. Take yourself on a date

This is the ultimate solo Valentine’s Day pursuit – taking yourself out on a date!

You don’t need the company of someone else to enjoy a night out on the town. Get dressed to the nines in whatever stylish ensemble makes you feel the most confident.

Head out to your favorite restaurant and order your signature dish, knowing that no one else is going to be stealing any food from your plate. And you don’t have to worry about sharing dessert, either! Savor that triple chocolate cake all by yourself.

Afterwards, do an activity that you love. Take yourself to see that new French film that got rave reviews. Or go for a solo walk in the park while listening to your favorite music.

7. Indulge in sweets

If you have a sweet tooth, now’s the perfect time to give in to it!

Try your hand at one of these heart-shaped treats, or bake some delicious Valentine’s Day cookies (and maybe share a few with your single gal pals). Eat a whole bar of dark chocolate, and don’t even think about passing up dessert if you find yourself out on the town – that tiramisu is calling your name, and your name only. You have an obligation to fulfill yourself. This day only comes once a year!

February 14 might be the day of love, but that shouldn’t stop us single ladies from participating! Besides, the longest relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself. So show some self-love by celebrating yourself this Valentine’s Day!

'Grey's Anatomy' Left Us in the Dark About Alex for Too Long

During Thursday night's midseason premiere of Grey's Anatomy, many fans—myself included—were insanely frustrated that the show waited 58 minutes before even mentioning the status of Dr. Alex Karev. When the winter finale aired back in November, I was glued to the television, asking myself, "Is Karev going to jail? Is he guilty? Maybe he's innocent?" So many questions.

For those who need a quick recap of the drama that happened before the show's hiatus, Alex is currently going through a huge court case because he physically abused DeLuca. (Side note: Where has DeLuca been?) Because of the attack, Alex was forced to work in the clinic, and he was even close to losing his medical career. Meredith, Alex's amazing BFF, jumped into the drama and took Alex's side, which wasn't any surprise. Since Meredith and Alex give us all friendship goals, this was one of my favorite Meredith and Alex moments in Grey's history. It almost ranks as high as when Meredith couldn't speak in Season 12.

Shonda and Co. left us with a huge cliffhanger during the winter finale, so it was obvious that many fans wanted some answers from last night's premiere. Instead, viewers were presented with a completely different scenario. The episode focused on Bailey, Arizona and Jo visiting a pregnant prisoner named Kristen. Even though this situation was insanely dramatic, I was still frustrated at the fact that they didn't mention Alex and his ordeal once. Why are you doing this to me, Shonda?

Luckily, I wasn't the only one who was frustrated with the episode. Many fans took to the #GreysAnatomy hashtag, tweeting things like, "Not seeing Alex Karev once in this episode was the biggest disappointment in my life," and "Are we going to find out anything about Alex?? This is good but…"

I can understand why the writers did this, but it really disappointed me that they decided to wait 58 minutes before the characters even talked about Alex. At the end of the episode, as Bailey, Arizona and Jo were driving home from the prison hospital, Bailey mentioned that Alex is indeed going to jail.

Wait… What?!

Why in the world did I have to wait so long before I got my answer? After that odd car conversation, I have follow-up questions. Why did he decide to do this? Does Alex not care about himself, his friends or his career?

Well, Shonda, you left us with another cliffhanger. I guess I'm going to have to wait another six days before I get my answer.

It's here! The much-anticipated music video for Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik's hit song "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" from the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack has finally dropped.

In honor of Fifty Shades Darker's February 10 release, the music video has a very lustful, fifty shades theme to it. Between the flashing lights, the dark outfits and the sexual frustration between the two, this video definitely gives us a sneak peak of what we can expect from the movie, and we're more than excited to see it. Even though they aren't together in most of the shots, the amazing sexual chemistry between Taylor and Zayn is off the charts.

We couldn't be more excited to see Taylor Swift in the headlines for her music again. Who knows, maybe this is a preview for a new album that is coming out soon.

Check out the insanely sexy video below.

People Are Applauding Ashley Graham for Posting This Cellulite Photo on Instagram

As a proponent of body confidence, Ashley Graham has never been afraid to keep it fiercely real—especially when it comes to owning and celebrating her own body.

Earlier this week, the model and designer posted a photo on Instagram that exposed her cellulite and stretch marks. Graham is no stranger to body-shaming, but the majority of her three million followers are sending her positive vibes for the inspiring shot and caption.

"I work out. I do my best to eat well. I love the skin I'm in. And I'm not ashamed of a few lumps, bumps or cellulite.. and you shouldn't be either," she wrote. *YAASS queen*

While Graham still has her haters, mostly positive notes and messages were left in the comments, applauding Graham. One user wrote, “Keep on keeping it real @theashleygraham your posts inspire me to love myself more and be happy and proud of who I am regardless of what my body looks like. THANK YOU”

Real talk, though—is 2017 going to be the year that body-shaming finally ends? Let’s hope so.

3 Professionals Share Their Best Tips for Natural Makeup

Makeup can be tricky – apply too little and you might feel uncomfortable with your blemishes on display, but apply too much and you risk looking like Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

But don’t worry! You’re not alone in trying to find ways to apply makeup that looks natural. Three professional makeup artists shared their tips for applying makeup that doesn’t look made up.

1. It’s all about the base

Béke Beau, a professional makeup artist, says paying attention to your foundation is essential. “The more neutral and matte the shades you use, the more dramatic your makeup can be without looking obvious,” Beau says. “Shimmer and shine are not as subtle. Bronzer (matte or close to it) can be used as a contour without looking obvious.”

To avoid the matte from looking too flat, use a fan brush and apply it very lightly near your hairline and across your cheekbones. COVERGIRL’s Clean Pressed Powder will give you a natural look for only $6.99! Just remember to use a sponge instead of a brush to get more coverage.

2. Use eye shadow instead of eyeliner

Emily Aznavourian, owner and lead artist at Cheekadee Makeup Artists, says, “If you want your eyes to appear more awake but not look like you have liner on, then apply brown eye shadow with a small, pointed eye shadow brush around the lash line. Just be sure to clean up with a little concealer afterwards.” Choose from Urban Decay’s range of eye shadows ($18), which come in 77 shades.

3. Highlighter is your new best friend

Elizabeth Terenchin, a professional makeup artist based in Philadelphia, says, “One of the greatest [subtle] things you can add to your makeup kit is a highlighter.” It turns out that highlighter can be used for many facial features without overexaggerating any of them. For best results, “add it to the inside corner of your eyes, the top of the cheekbone, the brow bone and, depending on skin condition or facial structure, the middle of the chin or the middle of the forehead,” Terenchin says. “It adds life to the face and makes you look awake and hydrated!”

Stila All-Over Shimmer Duo ($22) is a versatile product that gives your skin a glow without making you look fake. Another great product is Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Highlighter ($30); dab a little on your cheek and brow bones and voilà! Your skin will brighten up without looking too shimmery.

4. Choose matte lipsticks over gloss ones

If you’re going for a natural look, our experts suggest you opt for matte instead of gloss lipsticks. Besame’s Lipsticks ($22) come in a variety of colors for all skin tones and last for hours on end!

5. Wear a lip and cheek tint

If your makeup mantra is “less is more,” use a lip and cheek tint! This multipurpose product will not only give your cheeks a rosy glow, but also add a subtle color to your lips. Tory Burch’s lip and cheek tint ($38) and Benetint by Benefit Cosmetics ($30) will give you just the quick fix that you’re looking for.

Now that you know how to rock the natural look, what are you waiting for? Try these awesome techniques and products! They’ll bring out your natural glow in no time, so you can shine inside and out – without looking overdone.

Cory Monteith is Still Inspiring Lea Michele's Music

You might want to grab some tissues for this one, collegiettes. Ever since the devastating death of 31-year-old Glee star Cory Monteith in 2013, fans have been mourning alongside Lea Michele. In 2014, Lea used Cory's passing as inspiration to create new music with a song called "If You Say So" from her album Louder, which broke all our hearts.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Lea says that Cory continues to inspire her music every day. She even used a book that Stevie Nicks gave her after his death to help her write her new album Places.

"I poured myself the biggest glass of red wine, I put Fleetwood Mac on my vinyl, I lit candles, and I legit started praying and looking for a sign,” Michele says. "I have this incredible book that Stevie Nicks gave me in 2013 when my boyfriend died. She gave me this art book of hers that she put notes in over the years and song lyrics, and then she rewrote personal notes for me that say things like, ‘Keep singing, and have faith.'"

Praying for answers while looking through the book, Lea came across a sentence that said, "The only thing that matters is you, and who you are." After seeing that quote, what Lea had been trying to do with the entire record—connect to where she came from—became clear. Lea saw this as the inspiration she needed to make Places her most personal album yet.

Now we're anxiously waiting for the release of this sure-to-be amazing album. We will always love Lea Michele for her strength and courage and the fact that she turned a tragedy into something positive. Lea and Cory forever

Shailene Woodley Praises Malia Obama for Attending Dakota Access Pipeline Protest

We know how passionate Shailene Woodley is about stopping the Dakota Access Pipeline—and now Malia Obama has joined her fight by attending a protest at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 23 in Park City, Utah.

“It was amazing to see Malia,” Woodley tells Democracy Now of spotting the former first daughter at the protest. “I saw her last night when we did the event with [Standing Rock Sioux Tribute] Chairman Dave Archambault. And it was incredible to see her there."

Woodley commends the older Obama daughter for finding her own commitment to democracy. "She recognizes, regardless of her last name, that if she doesn’t participate in democracy, there will be no world for her future children," she says.

Just because her dad isn't in office anymore doesn't mean Malia will stop standing up for what she believes in. Let's hope these protests halt DAPL once and for all.

The Annual March For Life Had a Vice President Speak for the First Time

After the astounding turnout of the Women’s March on Washington on January 21st, another group of activists is descending on the nation’s capital. This time, though, they have the support of the Trump administration in the form of the keynote speaker, Vice President Mike Pence.

The anti-abortion March for Life has taken place every year in Washington, D.C. for the last 44 years on or near the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. But Mike Pence will be the first vice president to speak at the event, lending the rally a serious note of legitimacy and clearly showing that the administration plans to stick to its campaign promises of restricting abortion. Trump adviser, apologist, and noted “alternate facts” enthusiast Kellyanne Conway also spoke at the event.

The rally comes only days after Trump signed an executive order banning funding to foreign groups that provide abortions and with the Republican-majority congress pledging to cut funding to Planned Parenthood and restrict abortions to under 20 weeks. With Trump also set to announce his presumably pro-life pick for the vacant Supreme Court seat, anti-abortion activists are taking heart after a number of setbacks during the Obama administration. Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, told the Associated Press that she believes Trump’s pledges to support anti-abortion causes led many people to vote for him regardless of his other failings. "I don't identify as a Republican or a Democrat but I do vote pro-life," she said.

For other marchers, it was all about the cause, regardless of the speakers. “There’s going to be people that are conservative, people that are liberal, but the main focus of the movement is to end abortion,” Terrisa Bukovinac, the West Coast coordinator for Secular Pro-Life and president of Pro-Life Future of San Francisco told The Huffington Post in an email. “So everybody for the most part in the pro-life movement is looking to unite on that factor. They know that we can’t end the practice of abortion in the United States with just conservatives. We can’t end it with just liberals. We need everyone to care about this issue.”

Another marcher, Liz Kehrman, told The Washington Post that she was actually inspired to march because she dislikes Trump so much. "Trump does not respect life in all forms," she said "All life deserves to be treated with dignity, but he does not value women with dignity, nor the poor, nor refugees with dignity."

Abortion remains an extremely divisive issue in the United States. According to the AP, the most recent Gallup survey on the subject found “that 47 percent of Americans described themselves as pro-choice and 46 percent as pro-life. It also found that 79 percent believed abortion should be legal in either some or all circumstances.” Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, told the AP that the poll is good news for abortion-rights and encourages people not to despair.

Organizers have told the National Park Service that they expect a turnout of about 50,000 people. But, of course, President Trump insisted that there would be far more than that: "You know, the press never gives them the credit that they deserve. They'll have 300, 400, 500, 600 thousand people. You won't even read about it. When other people show up, you read big-time about it. Right? So, it's not fair, but nothing fair about the media."

Well, we all know how he good he is at guessing turnout numbers.

Hilarie Burton Is Not Here for a 'One Tree Hill' Reboot

For all the One Tree Hill fans out there, we know Hilarie Burton as Peyton Sawyer. But she's moved on from that role and is not willing to return to it.

In an interview with Refinery29Burton talks about her new movie, Growing Up Smith, and makes it clear that her One Tree Hill days are over. Asked if there's a chance for a One Tree Hill reboot, she says, "No, I'm on the Lethal Weapon reboot right now! I'm shooting guns, man! I don't need to go back to kissing and crying!"

As much as we'd love a reunion, it's just not in the cards. "I think we're all in such a different place, it wouldn't be something that I would be into," Burton says. "That said, I would love to work with my cast mates on other things. Like, I would love to do one of my Christmas Hallmark movies with Chad [Michael Murray]. Or, I would love to do a kick-ass girl project with Sophia [Bush]."

Burton is actually already working with OTH costar Daniella Alonsa—who played Anna in Season 2—on Lethal Weapon, so her collab ideas are not so far-fetched.

"Peyton's story got the correct ending. And whenever you extend it, what happens is they have to tear it apart to put it back together again. And I just wasn't into it…"

I guess you just can't stay in Tree Hill forever. All we can hope for is a reunion of some sort. Sophia, if you're reading this, that girl project sounds awesome!

Donald Trump Pressured the National Park Service Director Into Finding Better Photos of His Inauguration

President Donald Trump has been hard at work this week signing a host of alarming executive orders, but it appears that he is still haunted by the low turnout at his inauguration.

According to The Washington Post, Trump was on the phone the morning after the event with National Park Service director Michael T. Reynolds, demanding that Reynolds come up with new aerial photos of the inauguration. Preferably ones that supported Trump’s claim that it “looked honestly like a million and a half people” were present and that “it went all the way back to the Washington Monument.” Reports indicate that Reynolds was stunned by the request, but he did track down alternate photos and pass them along to the president. These photos, however, also failed to prove Trump’s numbers correct.

The call was unprecedented and word very quickly spread through the Park Service, though the NPS refused to formally comment on the conversation. The Park Service also does not release official crowd estimates. Still, based on the now-famous side-by-side photos of Trump’s and Obama’s 2008 inaugurations, it’s clear that Trump didn’t exactly get his “million and a half.” Experts estimate that this year’s attendance was roughly a third of the size.

But Trump isn’t one to stand by and let photographic evidence do the talking. By the afternoon of January 21st, he was already claiming that the media had lied or substituted photos from before the event had really gotten started. He also dispatched Press Secretary Sean Spicer who declared that “these attempts to lessen the enthusiasm of the inauguration are shameful and wrong.” Days later, other Trump aides were out in force, including Kellyanne Conway who coined the now-infamous term “alternate facts,” and Chief White House Strategist, Steve Bannon, who (terrifyingly) informed The New York Times that “The media here is the opposition party.”

In the days since the inauguration, the Park Service and its various park Twitter accounts have become the center of a bizarre and heartening social media battle with Trump. Days after the NPS was told to suspend tweeting, Badlands National Park published a series of now-deleted tweets about climate change. Death Valley National Park followed up with a tweet referencing Japanese internment camps and a number of “rogue” science twitter accounts have now taken up the battle.

It remains to be seen whether Trump will be able to put the low turnout numbers behind him (probably not), but his demands and insistence upon changing the facts remain chilling.

Melania Trump has yet to announce her White House team. It's been a week since Donald Trump was inaugurated, and the first lady is still missing a few notable staff positions, including a press secretary, a social secretary, a communications director and a chief of staff, according to CNN.

Although Melania will be staying in New York with her son Barron for the rest of the school year, a spokesperson told CNN that the first lady plans on dividing her time between New York and Washington for "the next few weeks."

Trump filled the first spot on her team earlier this week, reportedly hiring New York event planner Stephanie Wolkoff as her senior advisor and chief strategist, according to New York Magazine. Wolkoff is an old friend of the first lady’s, according to Marie Claire.

Unfortunately, soon-to-be college grads probably won't be able to get any of these jobs. According to Cosmopolitan, Winston Wolkoff is helping the first lady begin the interview processes for the remaining opening positions—and they're probably going to go with experienced professionals who are already familiar with the first lady. Oh well, it's something to aspire to someday!

Kim Kardashian Is Sporting Pierced Nails & It's Completely Wild

Obviously, Kim Kardashian is having a piercing phase. A few weeks ago, she shared a picture of her pierced lip, and this past Wednesday, she shared her out-of-the-ordinary pierced nails on Snapchat. She has straight-up HOOPS in each nail.

In the Snapchat video she shared, Kim said, "Khloé would be so proud of me right now." Her little sister loves wearing hoops. However crazy the pierced nail look is, it's actually not new. It's super weird though and I have so many questions, like how does she text (or snap)? And does she need someone to feed her now?? OMG! What does she do when she's done with the bathroom?

Good luck on this adventure, Kim! Here's to hoping those things are easily removable.

Scientists Are Planning Their Own March on Washington, Inspired By the Women's March

Inspired by the recent Women's March on Washington, scientists across the country are looking into holding a similar march to raise awareness of a pressing issue being ignored by the Trump administration: climate change.

The idea started on Reddit, where a discussion started over the concern shared by many scientists that climate change will be ignored during the Trump presidency. (It's a concern that's not unfounded, as Trump once called climate change a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese.) The Washington Post summarized the discussion, reporting that as participants discussed the news coming out of Washington, they realized they had to find a way to respond. After seeing the success of the Women's March on Washington, and its sister marches in other cities and countries, one user posted, "There needs to be a Scientists' March on Washington." Soon after, many other users began posting about their support for the idea.

Following this, University of Texas Health Science Center postdoctoral fellow Jonathan Berman began to put the plan into action. He created a Facebook page that gained popularity overnight, now settled at about 230,000 likes. He also created a website and Twitter handle to spread the idea. Berman and his now co-chair, Caroline Weinberg, quickly began to gather the names of interested scientists, and it seems the idea is coming into its own.

On Tuesday, the science community found out that some scientists with federal research agencies are being told they cannot share their findings with the public. In an email written to the Washington Post, Weinberg said, "We were inspired (well, infuriated) by the current attacks on science from the new administration." She feels this "cannot be allowed to stand as policy."

Berman, Weinberg and other scientists will be working on a plan this weekend to develop the idea of a march. Along with their march on Washington, they're also planning sister marches in other cities. They want the march to include, "anyone who believes in empirical science," not just fellow scientists. USA Today says the group hopes to announce the official date of the march next week and release their mission statement on Monday.
