If you’re a die-hard fashionista who wasn’t lucky enough to score a coveted seat under the tents at NYFW, you know how completely essential social media and live streams are when it comes to keeping up with everything happening at the Skylight at Moynihan Station this season. Fortunately, doing the whole NYFW-from-the comfort-of-your-dorm thing just got even easier thanks to Instagram!

Summer and 80s hang over up in Creatures of the Wind's club.

This season, every fashion girl’s fave social media platform is kicking its fashion week coverage up a notch—as of Friday, Instagram’s “Explore” page features a new section called “The Best of Fashion Week Updated Daily by @Instagram,” where fashion fans can see a curated feed of the best #NYFW posts. The feed won’t necessarily only feature the most liked posts from the most followed users either—Instagram’s team, which already works to curate and sort the best ’grams, is also choosing which posts to feature from fashion week. Consider it your own backstage pass to the best shows, parties and street style, all on your phone!

Fashion month is a huge Instagram traffic driver, with WWD reporting that it counted over 140 million likes and comments on posts during fashion month this past February and March—so it makes sense it’s the first event Instagram has devoted an entire week-long section to.

The only downside? Unfortunately, Instagram will only be keeping “Best of Fashion Week,” around for NYFW, and won’t be covering London, Milan or Paris—just yet! But we’re hoping coverage of fashion’s month-long extravaganza will happen in the future!

How will you be keeping up with fashion week this season, collegiettes?

Beauty Supplements: Do Or Don't?

When it comes to having fun and staying young, we're eager to try anything new and different to improve our beauty regimen. Diet, exercise and hydration are highly important in keeping our hair, nails and skin strong and beautiful. Beauty supplements however? We're a little wary of them. So we decided to look into some pretty pills that are rumored to get us glowing from the inside out.

For Your Skin

Vitamins B and E and Selenium

These three vitamins are powerhouses when it comes to skin cancer and sun damage protection. In some cases, they have also reversed the effects of aging!

Flavonoids

Green tea has powerful antioxidants that help protect against skin cancer and inflammation.

Chocolate (yes, CHOCOLATE!) has flavonoids that can help smooth your skin.

Fern extract

Studies show that fern extract can help reduce damages caused by UVA rays like dark spots and wrinkling.

Idebenone

This antioxidant is restorative, repairing damaged cells above and beneath the surface of your skin.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega 3s are proven to combat enzymes that contribute to wrinkling and sagging skin. Eating salmon, mackerel, and sardines can help provide moisture to your skin.

Collagen

Studies show that collagen supplements help reduce wrinkling around the eyes.

Hair and Nails

Biotin

This is one of the most popular beauty supplements for hair and nail strength. It can aid hair loss and encourage nail growth. Luckily, we can find it in dairy products and proteins like chicken, salmon and tuna.

GLA

Gamma-linolenic acids are found in black currant and primrose oils. It can help with brittle nails and thinning, splitting hair.

Iron

Many women suffer from iron deficiencies which can lead to dull, thin, dry, hair, and weak nails. Boost your iron levels by eating things like cashews, spinach, and oysters.

Zinc

This element is absolutely vital and has many benefits including helping hair follicles grow.

Vitamin D

This vitamin is full of sunshine (literally, we naturally absorb it through sunshine). It helps us absorb other vitamins like calcium, zinc, and magnesium. Studies show that it may help activate strong hair growth.

The Bottom Line

Always talk to your doctor before introducing supplements into your diet. Supplements cannot replace the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. However, some of the vitamins mentioned may be particularly helpful for you if you're looking to improve certain aspects of your skin, hair and nails and feel like you may not be getting enough nutrients from your diet.

7 Empowering Taylor Swift Songs that Aren’t About a Guy

While it is true that Taylor Swift writes amazing breakup anthems (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” anyone?) as well as heartfelt love ballads, not all of her songs are about romantic relationships. In fact, many of Taylor’s best-known songs have nothing to do with a love interest. Instead, they’re about self-confidence and girl power. It’s time we recognize Taylor for her empowering songs that aren’t about a guy. Here are our favorites:

1. “Shake It Off”

“Shake It Off” is Taylor’s response to her haters, and we have to say, the catchy tune is pretty inspiring. “I’ve learned a pretty tough lesson that people can say whatever they want about us at any time, and we cannot control that,” Taylor said before premiering the song. “The only thing we can control is our reaction to that.” Have truer words ever been spoken?

2. “Welcome to New York”

“Welcome to New York” is all about following your heart and achieving your dreams. The line, “And you can want who you want/Boys and boys and girls and girls” shows Taylor’s support for the LGBTQ+ community. Plus, she is donating all of the proceeds from the single to the NYC Department of Education. Now that’s empowering.

3. “22”

“22” is the perfect song for a girls’ night out. It’s fun, upbeat, and sassy, and it encourages girl power. Taylor dedicated the track to her close friends Dianna Agron and Selena Gomez, because who needs a SO when you’re busy having fun with your besties? Taylor talked to Billboard about being 22, saying, “I like all the possibilities of how you're still learning, but you know enough. You still know nothing, but you know that you know nothing. You're old enough to start planning your life, but you're young enough to know there are so many unanswered questions.”

4. “New Romantics”

In a similar fashion to that of “Shake It Off,” “New Romantics” addresses the criticism aimed at Taylor and her fans. It also references the pop culture movement known as New Romanticism. In the song, she puts a positive spin on teenage heartbreak. Taylor sings, “We are too busy dancing/To get knocked off our feet.” We couldn’t agree more.

5. “Mean”

Before “Shake It Off,” there was “Mean.” This song is Taylor’s original answer to those critics who doubted her. In a video preview, Taylor explained: “There’s constructive criticism, there’s professional criticism, and then there’s just being mean. And there’s a line that you cross when you just start to attack everything about a person… And dealing with that is all that you can control, how you handle it. This song is about how I handle it.” The track aims to prevent bullying, and it encourages self-empowerment.

6. “Long Live”

“Long Live” is a triumphant song about the importance of cherishing meaningful moments. It’s about making memories, and it’s also about being remembered. The song is applicable to many significant events in a collegiette’s life, from homecoming to graduation.

7. “Change”

Taylor wrote “Change” about her dreams of success, despite the fact that she was signed to the smallest record label in Nashville. And just look where she is now! Things definitely did change for Taylor. The song was later chosen as a 2008 Summer Olympics theme, and Taylor donated all proceeds to the United States Olympic team.

Taylor Swift: empowering collegiettes everywhere.

Need a Laugh? Watch Men Attempt Contouring

In a recent rendition of their "Clueless Guys!" video series, Cosmopolitan.com shows us what happens when men attempt to master the art of contouring. Prepare to experience a full-blown emotional rollercoaster of amusement, intrigue and inevitably, slight horror.

Warning: you'll be dying to jump in and rescue these adorably hopeless contouring newbies. But alas, trial and error is a necessary evil when entering the ever-complex world of makeup. In fact, these men face some of the same extact troubles we've all experienced—namely tricky shade selection, misleading confidence and of course, utter bewilderment.

One man quickly discovers the danger of using a too-light formula. "I look like a dead version of myself," he declares. "That's just like Irish on Irish, that's not doing anything," says another in frustration, while attempting to decipher the correct shade for his skin—we've been there, man.

On the other hand, our friend Ted has all of the confidence, smugly announcing, "Move over Kim Kardashian, here comes Ted White." And yet Ted, like the rest of the brave group, still proves unsuccessful.

Hilariously, the sound effects accompanying application are totally relatable. "Eh. Boop"? Accurate. And as frustration escalates, so does the confusion, resulting in a sense of newborn appreciation for the plight of trend-following women. "This is what girls do? Whaaat?" Yep.

The results? Mostly disastrous. But surprisingly, this collection of clueless guys epitomizes what it means to be a good sport. In laughter and smiles, each contouring victim proudly displays a beaming (albeit blotchy) face.

Overall, the men admit a universal truth—"This is not easy." And with that in mind, we think we've earned the right to skip out on painting our faces tomorrow morning—sorry, Kim.

9 Non-Permanent Ways to Change Your Hair

$

By now you’re probably well into tackling your New Year’s resolution of becoming a “new you.” But there’s no way you can continue your transformation without changing up your look. While a new wardrobe could certainly do the trick, you shouldn’t underestimate the power of a new hairstyle! No need to rush to the nearest salon for a daring new cut or some bold hair coloring that you’re probably too nervous to try, though – who says a hair transformation requires scissors and permanent dye, anyway? Instead, check out these easy, non-permanent ways to change your hair.

1. Clip in some extra length
One of the most obvious ways to change your hair is by adding length. Hair extensions can easily give you the desired length or body to take your look to the next level, whether synthetic or real (Rumor has it Ariana Grande does it, too!). That’s because hair extensions can even be added to create volume, so say hello to that new voluminous high pony you’ll be rocking!

For tips on maintaining all varieties of hair extensions, we spoke with Angelo David, a celebrity hair stylist based in New York City. He recommends brushing through extensions with a boar bristle brush, like the one from his Couture Hair brush line, tweaked specially for hair extensions and clip-ins. David stresses that it’s important to remember to always brush through your extensions routinely, whether you’re preparing for a shower or returning from the gym. You never want to get tangles at the base of your extensions.

2. Change your curling rod

Switching up your curling iron can make all the difference. With rods of all widths, you can add curls that are as tight or loose as your heart desires. If you’re known to wear your hair straight, switch it up by adding luscious curls. But if you’re known to curl your hair often, try changing your barrel width for a look that isn’t your everyday norm. You may even want to check out how to create curls with a hair dryer-attachable styler. From tight ringlets to glamorous waves, the possibilities are endless.

3. Try a faux bob

Have you always wanted to try a bob, but were too afraid of possibly experiencing the post-chop trauma? The faux bob is your solution! And the best part? You never have to sacrifice your lengthy locks in the process! There are a few ways to fake a bob, but no matter the process, you can achieve the same eye-catching end result with minimal effort.

Instructions:

  1. Start by curling your hair, preferably using a 1-2-inch barrel. Wavier hair will make for a more authentic looking bob.
  2. Brush out your curls to create a nice wave.
  3. Put your hair into a low ponytail using a clear hair tie or one that resembles your hair color. It’s okay to leave out shorter layers of hair in the front to frame your face.
  4. Fold the ponytail underneath your hair so that none of the hair at the bottom of the ponytail is visible.
  5. Use bobby pins, preferably ones that match your color hair, to secure the tucked ponytail.
  6. Adjust the faux bob until it is at a desirable length.

4. Add a splash of temporary color

Don’t shy away from color just because you think it’s always permanent. From hair chalks and rubs to colored hairsprays and temporary dyes, adding a touch of tint to your hair can be quick and easy.

Should you choose to go with a temporary dye, David says there’s one thing to keep in mind about coloring: “Hair color is like a brand new car. As soon as you drive it out of the showroom, it starts to lose its value. Hair color loses its value every day.” In other words, your daily routine, from washes to styling, will cause your hair color to fade as soon as you’ve finished the coloring process.

To make your color last, David suggests washing your hair with cold water for the first two or three washes, as hot water tends to wash color around. If you prefer to blow-dry your hair after washes, use a leave-in conditioner to protect your dye from the heat.

5. Clip in faux bangs

Bangs are not for everyone. It’s no wonder so many of us avoid them for fear of regretting the decision! But with faux bangs, there’s no need to cut your hair or feel the pain of living with them until your hair grows out again. With the right color and styling, faux bangs can give life to your mundane hair. And if you hate them…well, it wasn’t a permanent change anyway!

6. Add a braid… or two!

From waterfalls to herringbones, adding a braid to your hair can easily transform a boring everyday hairstyle into a sight to see! There are no limits to the ways you can incorporate a braid into your look. Try waterfalling into a low bun, fishtailing into a messy side braid, or even working a simple braid in at the crown. At no extra cost, transforming your hair can’t get any more creative than this!

Pro tip: Fishtail braids are especially easy to incorporate into high ponytails and buns to change up the all-too-common side braid!

Instructions:

  1. Start by putting your hair into a high ponytail.
  2. Divide the hair into two even parts or sections.
  3. Separate a small strand of hair from the outermost right section and bring it across to combine with the entire left section of hair.
  4. Separate a small strand of hair from the outermost left section and bring it across to combine with the entire right section of hair. Keep in mind that the smaller the strands you separate, the better the fishtail.
  5. Continue by repeating steps four and five until you have completed the braid.
  6. Style as desired!

Check out this braiding tutorial for more instructions on achieving this high fishtail and other adorable braiding styles.

7. Change up your waves

Changing the look of your hair can be as simple as spraying on a new texture. With dry texturizing sprays, dry shampoo and sea salt sprays, you can add instant waves to your hair in no time. Try spritzing on a texturizing spray like the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray ($27 at Sephora). For optimal texture and volume, try braiding your hair after a shower and applying this texturizer to damp hair to leave in overnight.

David explains that hot tools are also great for manipulating your wave or texture. From flat iron curls to crimping to finger waves, an iron or hot rollers can help you achieve any look you desire. Check out these tutorials for how to achieve different waves and curls with hot styling tools.

Don’t forget to protect your hair when using heat to manipulate texture. Never underestimate the importance of a good hairbrush! “Always start at the tip of the hair and work your way up to the roots,” David says. “Boar head bristles can condition the hair as you’re brushing through it.” Made with nylon and natural boar bristles, David’s paddle brushes are perfect for conditioning hair while styling.

8. Step outside of your comfort zone

If you’re used to wearing your hair down, plain and simple, why not try an updo? Removing the hair from your face can make a bigger splash than you think by drawing attention to your features. Conversely, if your hair is always up in a pony or bun, do the opposite and wear your locks down for a change. There are so many cute and easy hairstyles to try! Bonus: It’s completely free and totally reversible.

9. Look the part!

If all else fails, changing your hair can be as simple as switching up your part. Normally wear your hair parted to the left? Try a middle or right part. Voilà! Instant hair transformation. It may not seem like it will make much of a difference, but you’ll be amazed by the power of subtlety.

Happy styling, collegiettes! And remember, a permanent change isn’t necessary for a hair transformation. As David says, “manipulating your hair doesn’t have to require a commitment.” Sounds ideal to us!

Supermodel and Paper Towns actress Cara Delevingne is basically a goddess. She's also her own fashion icon, because she's the only person in the world who could look this incredible in these seven crazy ensembles.

1. When she wore this shirt that literally nobody else could pull off

We can't even imagine where we'd wear a shirt like this.

2. When she was completely nonchalant about the large reindeers coming out of her boots

Like Christmas socks... but BETTER.

3. When she channeled her inner middle schooler

...and still looked like the fashion icon she is.

4. When she looked ~out of this world~ in this print

It's a onesie. With faces on it. How does she look so good?!

5. When she embraced Bart Simpson from head to toe

We probably would have gone for Lisa, but you do you, girl.

6. When she was all about the bling

Never let anyone dull your sparkle.

7. When she owned festival style

There's no way we could wear this and not look like we just rolled out of bed.

From breaking your glasses to not seeing a thing without them, life isn't always easy for us poor-sighted collegiettes. Here are just some of the things that happen when you sport those specs.

1. When your friends want to try your glasses "for fun."

UGH, they are not a toy! Also, now you're blind.

2. When you can't remember where you put them down before bed.

Obviously, you need your glasses to find your glasses, but you can't find your glasses without your glasses. When will this nightmare end?!

3. When people tell you you look like Harry Potter.

Thanks. Thanks a lot.

4. When you look less like Beyoncé...

...and more like this confused fella:

5. When you try to convince yourself that your glasses are in fact a fashion statement.

6. When this actually happened to you and you actually wanted to die.

7. When people just assume you're a genius because you wear glasses.

We love you, Bey, but that is not how things work for us mortals.

8. When you have to wear 3D glasses over your real glasses.

The struggle is so real—not to mention 3D doesn't even change anything most of the time.

9. When your frame is too loose and your glasses slide down your nose.

Granddad look? Check.

10. When you poke yourself in the eye.

Owwwww.

11. When you can just feel a breakout coming on under your glasses.

And there's nothing you can do about it.

8 Dorm Foods You’ll Be Glad You Packed

$

When you’re not feeling the mystery meat at the dining hall or you’re up late studying and you want a snack to recharge, it can be hard to know what to stock your room with. With limited shelf and fridge space and no kitchen to cook food in, it can often feel like the dining hall is your only option. Filling your dorm room with sensible snacks is a great solution if you’re looking for healthier options, your schedule isn’t matched to the dining hall’s or you simply want to satisfy hunger in between meals.

HC is here with dorm foods for everyone from the calorie-conscious to the chocolate cravers. Here are the foods that every collegiette needs in her dorm room!

1. Popcorn

Movie nights with your roomies just wouldn’t be right without a few bags of popcorn. While the jumbo size with extra butter you get at the movie theater is delicious, in your dorm room you can opt for a healthier route. Try Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop! microwavable popcorn, which is just 100 calories per six cups.  If you have a sweet tooth, go for the brand’s kettle corn flavor.

2. Oatmeal

We’ve all grown up hearing that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but in a dorm with no kitchen, it can feel normal to skip it all together. Oatmeal is the perfect way to get in a quick and healthy breakfast before you head to your first class—and if you buy an instant pack like those from Quaker, making breakfast only takes about a minute in the microwave!

“I like to have oatmeal for breakfast because it’s so easy to make and I always feel full through the morning after I eat it,” says Maria, a sophomore at the University of Delaware. “Plus, it’s low calorie and full of fiber, so I never feel guilty about what I’m putting in my body.”

For more flavor, try adding fruit, nuts, honey, cinnamon or brown sugar.

3. Soup

When you have limited storage space and not much room in your mini-fridge for anything more than a few cheese sticks, it can be hard to stock up on sensible food. Canned, microwavable soup is great because you can keep it on your shelf until you’re ready to eat it, and most cans have between 1-2 servings, so it’s unlikely you’ll need to refrigerate a ton of leftovers afterwards.

Because soups can be high in sodium or calories, consider healthier alternatives. Progresso offers lighter versions of higher-calorie classics so that you can enjoy the flavors you love without worrying about the nutrition. You can go for classics such as chicken noodle or vegetable or mix it up with chicken corn chowder or chicken and dumpling.

Amy’s also offers low-cal canned soup options that are also light in sodium. They offer many flavors, such as favorites like chicken noodle, split pea and tomato.

If you’re not feeling well enough to muster up the energy to trek to the dining hall, these options are not only convenient, but healthy as well!

4. Protein bars

For a bite in your room or an on-the-go snack, protein bars are a healthy way to satisfy your hunger. They’re easy to store and won’t go bad quickly. Plus, you can satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way by getting flavors like chocolate peanut butter, cookies and cream and more!  Not sure which brands to buy? Look for bars that are high in fiber and protein so that you’ll feel fuller for longer, but make sure that you avoid ones with high sugar contents.

LUNA bars, like their Nutz Over Chocolate flavor, are relatively low in calories and are high in protein. Unlike some other protein bars, they are low in sugar, which means that you can enjoy the delicious taste without feeling like you’re cheating!

Pure Bars are made of organic products and are high in protein. You can feel good about eating these delicious bars at any time! Try the chocolate brownie flavor for a guiltless dessert.

5. Fruit

For collegiettes with a sweet tooth who want to avoid the high fat content of many candies and chocolates, fruit can be a great alternative.

However, if you don’t have a fridge, having fruit can be tough to keep for more than a few days. Try apples, oranges and grapefruits, since you don’t have to eat them as quickly.

“I always have a bag of apples on my desk,” says Jamie, a senior at Tulane University. “I’ll eat one while I study or grab one on the go in between classes.”

6. Candy

We all know your doctor probably isn’t suggesting you eat an enormous chocolate bar every night, but sometimes a satisfied sweet tooth can be the cure for one of those dreaded all-nighters. When you’re in need of a sweet treat, try a little bit of dark chocolate or chocolate-covered raisins.

“I always get sweet cravings, especially late at night when I’m studying,” says Hannah, a sophomore at the University of Delaware. “Instead of binge eating a ton of candy or chocolate, I keep a few Jolly Ranchers nearby so that I can satisfy my sweet tooth without loading up on the calories.”

The occasional treat can be a great pick-me-up. Plus, indulging in a sweet treat doesn’t have to mean eating the whole cake at the party. Instead of a full-size chocolate bar, try mini versions occasionally!

7. Veggies

Chips and dip can be a staple snack in college, but you can ditch the calories and fat in regular potato chips by replacing them with vegetables. Keeping mini veggies such as carrots and celery in your fridge can serve as a great, healthy way to still indulge in your favorite dip without the guilt of the saturated fat that often comes with chips.

Want to be even healthier? Instead of regular dips, try hummus. You’ll be left feeling fuller and you’ll add some nutritional value to this snack.

8. Frozen meals

No oven? No problem! If you’re in a hurry or not loving what the dining hall has to offer, a frozen meal is a great option to keep in your dorm.

“I always keep a few frozen meals in my mini-freezer for days when I need to study and don’t have time for the dining hall,” says Christina, a junior at the University of Maryland.

While not every frozen meal option is healthy, there are some options that are low in calories, fat and sodium.

Weight Watchers Smart Ones has frozen meals that definitely don’t cut down on the flavor. Try their whole-grain Angel Hair Marinara with spinach and zucchini. At only 220 calories, this meal is low in fat and high in protein and fiber, meaning you’ll feel fuller for longer after you eat it.

For those who want to keep their food organic, Amy’s is a great option for frozen meals.  Try their Light & Lean Quinoa & Black Beans With Butternut Squash and Chard. At 240 calories, it has 10 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber. For those with dietary restrictions, it’s also gluten free.

Keeping your dorm stocked with healthy food will keep you satisfied during your study sessions and hangouts. Try these quick options that are delicious and easy to prepare in your dorm!

Betsey Johnson Celebrates 50 Years During New York Fashion Week

You have to be trying really hard not to have a good time at a Betsey Johnson show. One of the most marvelous things about the woman is that she loves to just have pure, unbridled fun and that shows in her clothing and the way she approaches her runway presentations.

This season, Betsey's show, themed "The Curious Case of Betsey Button," was a love letter to her 50 years in the industry. The 54 looks in six collections regressed through time, beginning in the 2000s and ending at Betsey's dancing school as a child. Models joyfully stomped down the runway to tunes from each era, from The Muffs'"Kids in America" to "Wilkommen" from the musical Cabaret, and so much more. They paused on a platform and danced at the end of each each section, when the designer's voice would come over the loudspeaker and read a short, often quite funny, poem about what the era meant to her.

The throwback to the 2000s: flashy, ruffly party dresses and sequin tops with bright multicolored tights, and chunky metal jewelry; the 1990s, Betsey's signature prints like fish and flowers and cherries in bodysuits accessorized with corsets and zany patterned socks with electric-colored high heels; the 1980s, a punk influence with lots of stripes in bold blacks, whites, and reds with touches of plastic and leather, and an occasional menswear influence; the 1970s, with wild patchwork and floral concoctions coupled with purposely silly and cartoonish sweaters; the 1960s, a Warhol influence with more black and white in more polished, mod shapes with splashes of silver; and finally, the 1950s, all featuring what looked like costumes from a girl's dancing school, puffy sleeves, sequined leotards, and all. A fitting end, seeing as the show was dedicated to Betsey's dance teacher, Ann K. Pimm. At the end, Betsey, 73 and bubbly as ever, strode down the runway and performed her signature cartwheel into a split.

As fashion writer Robin Givhan wrote earlier this year, Betsey Johnson has never been like the people who are considered "the fashion elite"—your Ralph Lauren, your Michael Kors, your Carolina Herrera, what have you. But after being awarded the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award at the CFDA awards this year, why would she want to be? It seems the secret to her success is wrapped up in hot pink, crinoline, sequins, leather, and plastic in a warm-hearted, effervescent and, frankly, badass way that has made her so beloved to so many generations. Congratulations to Betsey on 50 marvelous years! Here's to many more covered in glitter, feathers, and whatever else you can dream up.

The 7 Most Underrated Chick Flicks

$

As much as we all love Mean Girls, there’s only so many times we can watch it (and recite every line) before we need a little bit of change. There are literally millions of movies out there, which means there are thousands of chick flicks for you to watch that you haven’t seen yet. Give some of the lesser-known movies a try! Just because you haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean that they aren’t any good.

Here are some of our new favorites that we think you’ll love, too!

1. Heartbreakers (2001)

You’ll like this if you loved: John Tucker Must Die

Summary: Mother-daughter duo Max (Sigourney Weaver) and Page (Jennifer Love Hewitt) are experts when it comes to scamming wealthy men for their money. In their attempt to make the last con of their careers a good one, Max and Page decide to go after an older billionaire to see how much they can squander out of him. Things take an unusual turn when Page falls in love with a young bartender and begins to focus more on him than the scheme she has with her mother. Max must try to reel her daughter back into their world of lies and deceit.

Just like John Tucker Must Die, this movie is all about girls coming together and exploiting guys for their own personal benefit. While it’s obviously a comedic film, there’s also some drama and action as well.

Where to watch: Amazon Instant Video

2. Friends with Kids (2011)

You’ll like this if you loved: Friends with Benefits

Summary: This star-studded film (Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, Megan Fox) is about two friends, Julie and Jason, who platonically decide to have a child together because they’re the only two people in their friend group without kids. Julie and Jason don’t see anything wrong with their setup, but from their friends’ perspectives, Julie and Jason are making a really bad decision. What could go wrong when two long-time friends share parenting responsibilities but peruse their own separate romantic lives?

This movie shows us a side of adulthood that’s different than those other movies that show people getting married and living happily ever after. This funny movie is filled with lots of sarcastic humor and a great cast.

Where to watch: Amazon Instant Video

3. Bachelorette (2012)

You’ll like this if you loved: Bridesmaids

Summary Four high school friends—Becky, Regan, Gena and Katie (Rebel Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan, and Isla Fisher, respectively)—are reunited on the weekend of Becky’s wedding in New York City. Becky’s three friends have a heck of a time wreaking havoc in the city and almost ruining the wedding. Their irresponsible antics and carelessness causes some major speed bumps and creates some serious tension between themselves and Becky. Similar to Bridesmaids, this chick flick is full of a ragtag group of girls that all of your friends will love.

22 Things You Never Noticed Until Binge-Watching 'The Mindy Project'

Ever since The Mindy Project was canceled *insert crying emoji* and then picked up by Hulu *insert praise hands emoji*, we’ve been dying for new episodes. But every faithful TV fan knows that the ideal way to wait out an excruciatingly long summer hiatus is to binge on all the past episodes you can get your hands on. Re-watching the first three seasons of TMP on Hulu, we realized these 22 things we’d never noticed before.

1. Danny and Mindy REALLY hated each other

This OTP was not very nice to each other when the show began. In fact, it’s hard to see how they got to their current lovey-dovey status. Thankfully they didn’t lose their snarky banter along the way.

2. Mindy’s ex-boyfriends are legit available, and we’d like them to call us

Okay, so some were total duds. But many of Mindy’s previous conquests (almost) make us sad she settled down. Our favorites of her totes dateable fellas—in no particular order: uppity midwife Brendan Deslaurier, When Harry Met Sally archetype Jamie, Officer Charlie, charming druggie Josh, dream guy that works down the hall Cliff, and of course, Pastor Casey.

3. Mindy used to have lady pals…

… and one of them was Pitch Perfect's Anna Camp! What a shame that the show couldn’t find a way to make Mindy’s loads of female besties mirror the hilarious friendships she has with Peter, Danny, and Morgan.

4. Jeremy could’ve been Mindy’s endgame guy

For those of you who have chosen to repress this disturbing memory, Jeremy and Mindy were romantically linked in the series’ first season. Yeah, we know, weird. Now he’s just another of Mindy’s weirdo coworkers but never forget he could’ve been her baby daddy.

5. There’ve been a serious amount of Office cameos

Ellie Kemper as Mindy’s boyfriend’s other girlfriend turned cuckoo neighbor. Ed Helms as Mindy’s on-again, off-again love interest. B.J. Novak as her loveable but not quite right boyfriend, Jamie. Who else is waiting for the day Steve Carell pops up?

6. Beverly is the world’s worst at whatever her job is

We’re still not sure what it is Beverly does, and she probably doesn't know either. But she’s good for some laughs, and there’s always that one time she got fired for punching Mindy in the face.

7. We want literally everything in Mindy’s closet

Mindy has a flawless outfit for every occasion, whether it be the baseball tee and sequin skirt she wore to “meet” Danny after he catfished her or the fab LGD she donned at last season’s holiday party.

8. Dr. Shulman was actually on this show at some point

He’s not just the namesake of the doctors’ practice. He was a real person in the TMP universe and appeared in a whopping two episodes.

9. Romantic things always happen on airplanes

That Mindy/Danny airplane kiss will go down in TV history, but before there was a smooch, it was all about a sexy turbulence-prompted hand grab.

10. Dancing Dan is the Danny who stole our hearts

We were already head over heels for Danny Castellano, but his Secret Santa gift to Mindy—that shameless dance to Aaliyah’s “Try Again”—had us swooning. That’s when we knew he could never do any wrong.

11. Betsy and Shauna straight up disappeared

Shulman and Associates’ secretaries both left with no warning or explanation. We must not have cared too much at the time since it took a re-watch to remind us.

12. Peter is kind of the best friend Mindy’s ever had

None of Mindy’s friends ever quite got her like Peter did. From the moment he arrived, they hit it off because we think they’re basically the same person. Why did he have to go?

13. Committed relationships top will-they-or-won’t-they pairs

Mindy and Danny were a will-they-or-won’t they couple for roughly two seasons, but once they got together for real, they were solid. And they haven’t lost our interest since. We’ll happily compare them to Friends’ best pair Monica and Chandler—YES, we went there—any day.

14. Tamra reads our minds, like, constantly

Tamra tells it like it is with no apologies. We can definitely count on her to say exactly what we’re thinking.

15. The early Mindy + Danny coupledom episodes play like the perfect rom com

What began with an airplane makeout and ended atop the Empire State Building—with another makeout!—is a mini romantic comedy that we found ourselves watching over and over again. Those eight episodes are magic and prove Mindy’s undeniable Nora Ephron descendent status.

16. TMP’s got THE guest stars

Anybody can get James Franco, Chrissy Teigen, Kris Jenner, Laverne Cox, Bill Hader, and Maria Menounos to guest on their show. But only Mindy can get Cher's dad from Clueless to play Danny’s old man.

17. Mindy might not be cut out for this motherhood thing

So far Mindy’s not shown a great track record with the kiddos. Hopefully, she’ll just figure it out as she goes—to laugh-inducing effect, no doubt.

18. Morgan got hot

When Morgan came to work for Mindy and company, he was just a schlubby ex-con with an odd sense of humor. How shocked were we to see his transformation over the course of three seasons? Ladies, we’re here to tell you—Morgan’s body be banging!

19. Danny is Mindy Lahiri’s B.J. Novak

We’ve witnessed the chemistry between Mindy Kaling and her BFF/Office costar B.J. Novak for years. So why did it take us this long to realize Danny is Mindy Lahiri’s B.J.? Except Mindy and Danny seem to have a head-start on their happy ending.

20. Mindy has become a total #girlboss

Earlier in the show’s run, Mindy was rarely even spotted in scrubs. Coming into season four, she’s got her own fertility clinic and is expanding her family. Talk about breaking that glass ceiling!

21. These characters are weird AF

All workplace comedies have their fair share of wacky happenings, but just about everyone—no, make that everyone—in this office is insane. We guess that’s why we love ‘em.

22. We seriously can’t even wait for new episodes on Hulu!

How many days until the premiere?

New York Fashion Week is THE time to play around with new looks, and this September is no exception. Outside the Zang Toi at Skylight at Moynihan Station, a bright and bold color palette was having a moment. Check out what fashion editors and It-girls are wearing during NYFW:

1. Going against the crowd

Royal blue makes for a great impact against the typical black and white color palette of NYFW attendees.

2. Make a statement in every possible way

Shirt dress, furry bag and strappy pumps straight out of the Crayola box. This girl knows how to make a statement... possibly getting a foot cramp in the process (but it looks totally worth it).

3. Beautifully bright

Navy blue lips and neon orange eyebrows look like something straight out of The Craft by Lou Teasdale.

How to Motivate Yourself to Work Out in the Morning

$

We get it—crawling out from beneath your warm, cozy covers just to hit the gym at an ungodly hour can be a torturous process that seems nearly impossible. Sacrificing that extra hour of sleep in the morning to hit the elliptical may not sound very appealing, but it’s definitely worth it. Here are a few tips for how to get yourself out of bed to master your early-morning workouts.

1. Find a workout buddy

There’s no motivation like having a workout buddy. You don’t want to be the friend who cancels at the last minute because you overslept or because you just didn’t feel like getting up. Try calling or texting each other in the morning to make sure you’re both awake.

“If I didn’t have anyone to go to the gym with, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t work out,” says Amber, a junior at Columbia University. “One of my closest friends is on the track team, so she’s definitely the one who motivates me to work out with her when she’s not at practice.”

Just picturing how upset your bestie would be if you blew her off while she was waiting for you bright and early should be enough to get you out of bed!

2. Move your alarm clock to the other side of the room

Your alarm clock is a necessary evil. Moving it the other end of the room means that you’ll have to get out of bed and get up just to turn it off. Once you’re up and stretched, you’ll be less likely to hop back in bed!

“To me, the only hard part about getting up in the morning is physically removing myself from the bed,” says Brittany, a junior at the University of Georgia. “As soon as I’m actually standing up straight, I’m ready to take on the day.”

3. Pack your gym bag the night before

With all the confusion that comes from being half awake and half asleep, there’s a good chance that you may forget something on your way out the door. Packing your gym bag and laying out your clothes the night before will better prepare you for your sweat session and also save you some time before you hit the gym—think of the extra minutes of sleep you’ll save!

4. Do a workout you enjoy

Working out isn’t an easy thing to do for some people to begin with. We know your relationship with your bed is important to you, but getting up to do something that you actually enjoy could encourage you to leave your precious bed to get some fitness in.

“The prospect of getting on a treadmill at 7:30 wasn’t really appealing to me, so I signed up for a yoga class that was offered at the same time,” says Kasia, a senior at Villanova University. “Whenever I didn’t want to get up, I would just tell myself how good I would feel after my yoga class and how much it would be worth it.”

If spending an hour on a machine isn’t your thing, think about participating in an activity like Pilates or dance aerobics that will have you feeling refreshed before your early-morning class.

5. Get enough sleep the night before

As college students, we may be used to late nights and early mornings, but you have no idea how much better a workout can turn out if you’re well rested!

“It’s definitely easier for me to get up when I actually get sleep the night before,” says Ashley, a junior at Georgia State University. “It’s like the combination of being well rested and working out in the morning keeps me way more alert during the day.”

Try to skip hitting the bars with your friends the night before your workout and head home early to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep.

No one ever said it was easy to work out the morning, but the work you put in at the gym will not only help you get fit, but also have you feeling refreshed and alert for the rest of what may be a long day. Change up your early-morning routine by trying a few of these tips to get yourself up and out the door before your AM session at the gym.

9 Natural Beauty Remedies that Totally Work

If you flip through any magazine, you’ll find at least a dozen advertisements for the newest beauty product that guarantees the best hair/skin/nails you’ll ever have. But when you actually go to try them, you find that they’re packed with ingredients that you can’t even pronounce. No one wants that!

Before you hit the drugstore to fix your next beauty woe, wander to your kitchen instead. There are a ton of natural beauty remedies that you can try, and the best part is you already have most of the ingredients at home!

1. Olive oil for dry skin

Olive oil is rich with vitamin E, which is amazing for you skin. Take 1 tablespoon of olive oil and combine it with three tablespoons of lemon juice and five tablespoons of sugar. Use this exfoliating mixture in the shower and rinse for soft, smooth skin. Just be careful while you finish showering because olive oil is extremely slippery!

2. Baking soda for yellow teeth

You could easily buy some whitening strips for a pearly smile, but they tend to be expensive and can damage your teeth. Instead, grab three teaspoons of baking soda and mix it with one tablespoon of water. Create a paste with your toothbrush and brush away! The baking soda will help remove stains and whiten your teeth with a couple uses.

3. Avocado for frizzy hair

Now your favorite guac ingredient can actually tame your unruly hair too! Mash up a half of an avocado with a banana and apply to your hair. Put on a plastic shower cap, wait ten minutes and then rinse with cool water. The fatty acids in both ingredients will make your hair silky smooth instantly.

4. Brown sugar for chapped lips

Forget your chapstick and try this quick fix for chapped lips! Put a teaspoon of brown sugar on a wet washcloth and gently rub your lips. The sugar will naturally exfoliate them so they're nice and smooth. Want to keep your lips moisturized all day long? Apply a little bit of coconut oil. Both remedies are easy (and yummy!) ways to prevent dry lips.

5. Tea for dull hair

No matter what your hair color is, we can all use a little shine boost every once in a while. Steep 2 teabags (chamomile for blondes, rooibos for redheads and black tea for brunettes) in two cups of boiling water for 10 minutes. Refrigerate the tea, jump in the shower and wash your hair. Then pour the cooled tea mixture on your hair and work it in root to tip. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse your hair off again. Apply conditioner and enjoy your shiny hair!

6. Lemon for blackheads

Blackheads are annoying, and pore strips can really hurt. Instead opt for a more natural remedy—all you need is a lemon and some honey! Cut the lemon in half and drizzle about a teaspoon of honey on it. Then rub the lemon on your face, focusing on the areas that are most prone to blackheads. Rinse your face off and apply moisturizer. Repeat this method a few more times if you don’t immediately see results.

7. Nutmeg for acne scars

What’s worse than pimples? The scars they tend to leave behind. To reduce the appearance of acne scars, combine half a teaspoon of nutmeg, a half a teaspoon of cinnamon and a quarter teaspoon of honey and apply to the scar. Let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse it off. For really stubborn scars, dab a small amount of aloe vera on them afterwards.

8. Egg whites for puffy eyes

You stayed up late last night and have to wake up early in the morning. Naturally your eyes will be a little puffy from lack of sleep, so use this easy remedy to reduce the swelling before you head out the door! Beat the whites from one egg in a bowl until stiff. Add a little witch hazel (if you have it) and then apply the mixture under your eyes with a small makeup brush. Let it dry for 15 minutes before you rinse it off. You'll trick everyone into thinking you got a full night's sleep!

9. Oranges for rough skin

Whether you have rough elbows, knees or heels, this super simple remedy will take care of it. Slice an orange in half and rub it on your dry areas in the shower. That’s it! Not only will you smell citrusy and fresh, the acid from the orange will get rid of all your rough skin.

5 Ways to Make Wearing Heels a Comfortable Experience

$

0

There's no doubt that we all love putting on our sassiest high heels from time to time. But how can you strut with confidence when you're stumbling over aching feet? For years, women everywhere have suffered through the pain of wearing high heels in the name of fashion. After all, beauty is pain, right?!

Not anymore! We've done the research and found the 5 best ways to make your favorite high heels feel more like a walk in the park than walking on hot coals. Try one or try them all—these cures will put an end to your high heel horrors.

1. Water and lotion

Though unconventional, shoe expert Meghan Cleary reported on Who What Wear that running feet under cold water and moisturizing them while they are still damp is an easy (and free!) way to prevent painful rubbing and blisters that often occur while wearing heels. Your feet should be damp when you put your shoes on—not wet!

2. Gel insoles

This simple trick can easily fix multiple high heel problems. They prevent toes from scrunching into the box to save you from painful blisters, while providing vital arch support to help even out the pressure across your foot. Try Dr. Scholl's for Her High Heel Insoles ($17.89)!

3. Give your feet a break

This goes without saying, but give your feet a break during your commute before and after work! Or, if you are planning on wearing heels for a night out, opt for flats during the day, so your feet aren't already in pain before you hit the town.

4. Wear heels with ties or straps

How annoying is it to have your heel slip out of the back of your shoe with every step you take? Heels with straps keep the shoe securely fastened to your feet, while preventing swelling with a good fit.

5. Pick the right shape

Lucky for us, platform sandals have come back in style, providing optimum comfort while keeping in line with the latest fashion trends. A rounder toe box also helps to assure comfort, although that doesn't mean you have to discard your favorite pointed-toe heels just yet! As long as the point stretches out (instead of stopping right where your toes would rest), you should be good to go, pain-free.

Her Story: I Lost 36 Pounds in College

$
0
0

183.

I stared at the number in horror, not quite able to understand, willing it to change. But it remained on the screen, glaring up at me.

“183 pounds,” the scale glowered at me.

In shock, I realized that I was 17 pounds away from being 200 pounds. And if I had gained that much weight that quickly, when would I get to 200? 215? 240?

At 5’5” and wearing snugly-fitting size-12 jeans, I knew I was a bigger girl. But I didn’t think I weighed that much. Only really big people weighed almost 200 pounds, right?

I grabbed my iPhone and did a quick Google search for “BMI chart.” I had heard that BMI wasn’t a great indicator of health because it didn’t account for muscle mass, but let’s be real—it wasn’t muscle that was weighing me down.

Shocked, I discovered that at my BMI of 30.4. I wasn’t just overweight—I was obese.

Something needed to change. I had been unhappy with my weight all my life—even when I was a size four and six in high school, my self-perception twisted by all my size-zero friends. But I had never actually been scared for my health until now.

A couple weeks ago, my mom had gone to the doctor and discovered that she was dangerously close to being diabetic. My mom, who ran half-marathons. If she was at risk of diabetes, I was sure to be, too.

My eating habits had never been good in college. I didn’t know what portion sizes were appropriate. I never looked at nutrition labels, and I had no idea what food was good for my body. I was an emotional eater. I would eat when I was bored, sad, or stressed (which happens a lot in college!). I would eat when I was happy because like so many people, I celebrated accomplishments with junk food. I ate because food was there, not because I was actually hungry. Occasionally I would hit up the gym, but my read-a-magazine-while-riding-the-bike workout barely made me break a sweat. Add a semester abroad where I indulged in the four French food groups (baguettes, pastries, cheese, and wine) far too often, and I had gained about 40 pounds since my freshman year.

I strongly believe that people can be beautiful at any size. There are a lot of women who wear sizes even larger than a 12 who I admire and look up to. But what I wasn’t at my size was healthy. And I definitely wasn’t happy. Shopping, which I used to love, just depressed me as nothing looked good on me, and I always had to ask for the next size up. Wearing dresses was uncomfortable unless I wore shorts underneath them because my thighs would rub together. And, worst of all, I had lost my confidence.

That day, I told myself that I wasn’t going to be this girl anymore. I was going to take control of my health and finally treat my body right.

I decided to take up running because it was free and seemed like a great way to get fit. I have a complicated relationship with running: I’ve tried it several times in my life, but each time has ended up with me injuring myself from starting off too hard. My sophomore year of high school, I joined the track team as a total amateur, only to find myself sidelined a few weeks later from stress fractures caused by daily four-mile runs my body wasn’t ready for. But I was determined to stick with it and be safe this time, so I decided to start the Couch to 5k program. C25K is a nine-week run/walk program designed to get you from a beginner level to be able to run 30 minutes without stopping. The program is very gradual, so I figured it would be a good fit for me to avoid injury.

I started C25K the first week of January, thinking the first run (alternate running 60 seconds with walking 90 seconds for 20 minutes total) would be a piece of (low-cal!) cake. About halfway through, I was already exhausted. It was clear that I was totally out of shape, but I finished the workout and tried to keep a positive attitude instead of the negative one I used to always have after a bad run. It didn’t matter that I was slow—I did it.

Meanwhile, figuring out what to eat was a nightmare. I had no idea how to eat well, let alone how to eat to lose weight. Okay, so I should eat more fruits and vegetables and stop eating junk food. But how much bread could I eat? What if I kept eating food that I thought was healthy but it actually wasn’t, and I gained weight? Is peanut butter good or bad for you?

Clearly, I needed help.

“You should go see a dietician,” my mom urged me.

I was hesitant to make an appointment. I didn’t want to be that person who was so overweight that she needed medical help to get better. But I obviously needed guidance, so I went, even though I felt ashamed.

But the dietician made me feel proud that I had decided to make a healthy change. She was really encouraging, congratulating me when I told her about starting C25K. She explained to me how to read nutrition labels and what food was good for you. Protein takes longer to digest than carbohydrates, so it keeps you fuller longer. Fiber also takes longer to digest. Sugary drinks are useless because they don’t fill you up, but they cost you calories. It’s better to eat 4-6 smaller meals than three big ones because it curbs hunger.

The biggest point she made was that I shouldn’t eat just to eat—food is fuel for my body, not a cure for boredom. “Think of your body as a car,” she said. “If you’re driving around and your tank is full, you wouldn’t stop for gas, right?” Hmm, that makes sense.

“I want you to start eating 1,200 calories* a day,” she said. Wow, that seems small. But you’re the expert, I trust you.

“And 60-80 grams of protein.” Uh, okay.

“And around 120 grams of carbohydrate, 35 grams of sugar, and 40 grams of fat.” Whoa, slow down, lady. How the heck am I supposed to keep track of all of that?!

“There are a lot of apps and websites you can use to track all of this,” she said. “Track everything that you eat, even the small things.”

As soon as I got home, I downloaded the Livestrong MyPlate app. I was really nervous that this new lifestyle change wouldn’t work, that it would be too hard for me to keep up with, that I couldn’t do it—but I started anyways.

The first week was really hard. Not only did I have to find time in my crazy schedule to run and cook healthy dinners (I rarely used to cook), I was so used to eating horrible food all the time when I didn’t need it that it was hard for me to differentiate between boredom and hunger. My family and I all have a bad late-night snacking habit, which I knew I had to kick. Now that I was measuring my portion sizes, my meals seemed really small, but I discovered that after eating them, I felt satisfied—not overly full. I wasn’t starving throughout the day because I was snacking on protein-filled foods instead of chips and cookies filled with empty calories. And it turns out I actually really liked cooking, particularly since it was a productive way for me to procrastinate on homework.

After the first week, I had lost five pounds. I panicked at first—wasn’t that a lot to lose in seven days? But I was following the dietician’s advice to a T and definitely not starving myself. I called my mom, who is a nurse, and she assured me that it was normal; sometimes when really overweight people make a drastic, healthy change to their diet, they lose weight really quickly in the first few weeks, but it slows down. The next week, I lost another five pounds. It was as if my body was so relieved to be working off those unneeded pounds that it couldn’t wait to be rid of them. Eventually, my weight loss slowed down to about 1-3 pounds a week.

I kept running three times a week, still following the C25K plan, and I kept tracking my calories and nutrients religiously. Temptation to cheat was everywhere. Why is it that college campuses are full of people giving out free candy and cookies? My friends seemed impressed when I would pass on junk food at hangouts and club meetings, and that encouraged me to keep making healthy choices. Some mornings it sounded way more appealing to sleep in rather than get up early to run, but I did it anyways. If I slipped up with my diet or slacked on exercise, I didn’t beat myself up over it, and I started again the next day.

But it was hard for me to tell if my body was actually changing. I knew I was doing a great job eating well and exercising, but in my mind, I was still a size 12 and weighed 183 pounds.

In late February, I realized that my jeans were fitting loosely. I was getting sick of pulling them up all the time, so I went to the mall to get a new in-between pair, thinking that maybe I was now a comfortable size 10. In a hopeful moment, I tried on a pair of size eight jeans. They fit perfectly.

I almost cried in the dressing room out of happiness. I don’t think I’ve ever had to buy new jeans because my old ones were too big before; it was always because I had gone up a size. In my excitement, I bought two pairs.

The following months, I kept up with my food tracking and running three times a week, but the more weight I lost, the harder it became to keep the pounds coming off. I couldn’t lower my calorie consumption and remain healthy, so I started going to group fitness classes on days I didn’t run. Suddenly I realized that I wasn’t just getting thinner, I was starting to look fit. I was getting muscle! I started to discover what kinds of awesome things my body could accomplish. When I first had to run five minutes without stopping, it seemed impossible; I had to try it three separate days before I could do it. The first time I ran 20 minutes without stopping, I couldn’t believe it. The best part about exercising is that it started to be fun. Elle Woods wasn’t lying when she said endorphins make you happy.

As of today, I have lost about 36 pounds, and I can run 30 minutes without stopping. At 147 pounds, I am finally at a healthy weight and I couldn’t be happier with what I’ve accomplished—it seems crazy that I was actually able to do it! The best thing is that I feel healthy. I’m so much more energized now that I’ve made exercise a priority, and I’m feeding my body nutritious food instead of junk.

A few weeks ago, I wore a brand new dress (size six!) to a formal meeting for my music fraternity. My friend Anna came up to me after a meeting to compliment me on it.

“Michelle, I just want to tell you, you look really good!” she said. “Thanks,” I replied, beaming.

“And I know you’ve lost weight, but it’s not just that,” she continued. “You just seem so much happier and so much more confident, and I just love seeing that in you.”

Anna’s comment really stuck out to me. I realized that yes, I was thinner, but the best part about losing weight was that I was so much more confident and happy with myself. I was proud of myself for setting a really daunting goal and sticking to it, and I was proud of myself for finally treating my body right after 21 years.

* The nutrition guidelines I followed were given to me specifically by a dietician but aren’t appropriate for everyone. Please don’t attempt to follow them yourself if you want to lose weight; see a dietician so he/she can recommend what is best for you!

When you enter junior year, you’re convinced that this is going to be your best year yet. You’ll ace all your exams, hit up the hottest parties and maybe have a romance or two. But realizing that you only have two years left of college is going to hit you hard- whether you’re ready for it or not. Every student experiences a mid-college life crisis sometime during their university career. Here are the 12 stages that you are going to go through once you get to that halfway mark.

1. The Denial Stage

At first you won’t believe you only have two more years of college left. That still seems like a lot of time, but at the same time it means your college career is halfway over. You’ll try to start off your junior year stress-free and innocent, just like your past two years, but the denial will catch up to you.

2. The Crying Over Pizza and Netflix Stage

Once it hits you that you’re at the halfway mark, you’ll feel an overwhelming flood of emotions. You only have a few more semesters to embrace the joys of campus dining halls and sorority events. You’ll binge-watch your favorite season of Grey’s Anatomy while stuffing your face with greasy pizza to try and cope.

3. The Looking at Your Transcripts Stage

You’ll take a peak at your grades to see how all your studious efforts have paid off and you’ll feel nowhere close to med school. Getting good grades is not as easy as pulling a couple all-nighters and drinking ridiculous amounts of coffee- contrary to what the movies make it seem. You’ll feel defeated.

4. The “What Am I Doing With My Life?” Stage

You’ll feel like you haven’t done anything productive with your time in college. All you’ve been doing is suffering through papers and midterms and labs, and that won’t feel like it’s paying off. You’ll feel like there’s more out there than the inside of the library that you need to experience ASAP before it’s too late.

5. The Partying Every Night Stage

What better way to live-up the last few years than with a good ol’ kegger? You’ll probably try to embrace a ‘work hard, play hard’ mentality and test out the party scene that you thought you left behind after freshmen year. You’ll quickly watch yourself become a regular at the campus bar and will come to know all the frat boys by name.

6. The Refusing to Study Stage

You’ve probably developed a fear of your textbooks by this stage. Between your constant hangovers and the defeat after seeing your transcripts, you can’t put yourself through anymore pain. You’ll refuse to study, even though you know that is not the right thing to do.

7. The “I’m Going to Be a Hairdresser” Stage

Since you feel like your academic career is over, you’ll be looking for other job options. You might try cutting your friends’ hair in a bid to prove you can be a hairdresser. Or maybe you’ll take over the dorm kitchen trying to be the next Rachel Ray. All you’ll know is that it’s time to reinvent yourself.

8. The Calling Your Parents at Midnight Stage

Although you’ve been partying it up, ignoring your academics and trying to learn the ways of Martha Stewart, things still aren’t going right. You’ll call up your parents at heinous times of the night to vent and have them tell you what to do.

9. The Realizing Everyone is Going Through the Same Thing Stage

Eventually you’ll realize that all your friends and classmates in junior year are going through the same mid-college crisis. Everyone is scared of the unknown and is questioning if the past few years have been worth it. It’ll be reassuring knowing you’re not the only one who feels like they’re going insane.

10. The Feeling Guilty Stage

Ignoring the reality of college hasn’t been helping- it’s only made you feel worse. You feel bad for putting your grades to the side (especially if you actually do want to get into med school) and drinking more than you ever thought was possible. It’s time to stop the madness.

11. The "I Need to Focus" Stage

You’re finally getting back on track! You have set up camp back in the library (thankfully right before midterms) and are determined to ace everything that comes at you. It’s no use trying to run away from your problems; you’re determined to face them head on.

12. The Realization That You Still Have Two More Years

Two years is still a long time. While graduation is creeping up closer, you’ll finally reach a sense of peace that you still have time to accomplish everything on your bucket list. The world isn’t as scary as you thought it was and you’re ready for it.

In the end, every student goes through the same panic of being almost done their degree. Make sure that you have a strong support system behind you and that work to get yourself back on track ASAP. It’s okay to take time to process all the emotions that come with entering your junior year, just make sure to do it in a healthy and safe way. You still have two more amazing years to go and, believe us, that is still a lot of time.
