7 Reasons We're Mourning the Loss of Jared Leto's Long Locks

March 2, 2015 is a day that will now forever live in infamy. On this fateful Monday, Jared Leto, also known as Hollywood's gift to humanity, had his perfectly coiffed tresses cut off by the director of the film he's about to start working on. No ladies, not a trim, but a complete annihilation. Though the blasphemous act is technically justified, we can't really begin to fathom life without a long-haired Leto. Here's why. (Warning: you will want to have a box of tissues nearby.)

1. He was the master of the hair flip. And guess what? You most certainly can't do a hair flip with short hair.

2. His ombré tresses really were better than anyone else's. How enviable is that flawless fade?

3. He won't be able to rock a fedora like this ever again (or at least until he grows out his hair again, which he'd better).

4. He had our hearts palpitating with his unparalleled man bun (See below and remember to breathe). Seriously, he opened the door for other men out there to realize that they too, could achieve this heavenly look—or at least try to.

5. Because the risk of seeing him don this high-school-boy-who-rolled-out-of-bed-look again is now higher and it was just never a good look. Sorry J.

6. With his long hair, he owned having a bad hair day and gave us the power to accept that it happens sometimes.

7. He sported a suit and his hair down like no other. The only person who can replace Jared Leto's 2015 Oscar look is Jared Leto in 2016... when his hair will hopefully be back to its former glory.

So in one last parting message to his departed locks: It's not "goodbye," it's "I'll see you later."

5 Adorable Spring Break Hair Ideas

Whoever decided beachy waves are actually a good style for the beach has clearly never been near an ocean. If you've ever jumped in the water with those mermaid-like waves, you'll know that not only have you ruined the style, you've also created a tangled mess that looks nothing like what beach waves are supposed to look like. Whether you're headed to the beach or are sunning by the pool this spring break, your week-long vacay is bound to be full of action and fun—which means you need a hairstyle that will stay put no matter what you're doing. Here are our favorites:

1. Fishtail braid

For those of you ladies with long hair, keep it out of your face with a gorgeous fishtail braid. When the sun sets and you're ready for a night out with friends, take it out to reveal effortless waves!

2. Top knot

If you're a sporty girl that plans on riding the waves or playing some beach volleyball, throw your hair up into a super simple top knot. Bonus: With all the super-active things you're doing, you'll have a few strands fall out around your face—and by the end of the day, you'll have an adorable messy bun perfect for a night out.

3. Pigtail french braids

This hairstyle is especially convenient for collegiettes with bangs or shorter hair because you'll keep all those smaller strands in place, even if you're running around on the beach!

4. Twist to ponytail

Keep your flyaways away from your face by twisting them back into a ponytail, either one side or both. Make sure to tie your hair tie really tight so your ponytail stays in place while you're jumping in the pool!

5. Milkmaid braid

Part your hair down the middle, braid the two sides, and pull them across the top of your head. Secure the ends with bobby pins and you're ready to hit the beach with a cute and flirty hairstyle! You can customize this based on what your day's activities are; if you're going to be hitting the waves, make your braids a little tighter; or, if you're going low-key, pull out a few front pieces (like you see in the tutorial above) to frame your face!

Which hairstyles will you be putting to the test this spring break, collegiettes?

What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do With Your Life

“So… what are you going to do with that major?”

It’s the question that that you may not have an answer to, because you may not have totally clear plans for your future yet. Even though talking about your potential career should be exciting, it can also be a source of anxiety when you really have no clue what you want to do.

Every collegiette has questioned her future career plans at least once throughout college. But fret not, undecided collegiettes! Her Campus asked the experts why it’s okay to question your post-college plans and how to find a career path that you love so you can confidently answer when someone asks, “What are you going to do with that?”

Why it’s okay to be undecided

Let’s face it: You may not even know what you’re having for breakfast tomorrow, so how can you expect to know exactly what you want to do for the rest of your life? College is a time to discover your passions, so don’t be freaked out if you don’t have all the answers just yet. First and foremost, here are some reasons why it’s totally okay to be undecided.

You may have an ambiguous major

In most cases, if you study engineering, you’re likely to become an engineer. If you’re in the nursing school, odds are you’ll end up as a nurse someday. But what if your major doesn’t have an “obvious” career path? What should you do if you love what you’re studying, but you’re not quite sure how it translates into a job?

The collegiettes who most often get the, “What are you going to do with that?” question are the ones studying subjects with more ambiguous career paths, like humanities, English or communications. “Many liberal arts majors, like psychology or sociology, could lead to many different careers,” says Nayelli Perez, career counselor and assistant director of Hofstra University’s Career Center. “That could be a blessing and a curse, because it gives students options but also makes it hard for students to see how their major connects to their future career.”

Just because you might not have a definite career path based on your major doesn’t mean you should switch majors! Oftentimes, these “ambiguous” majors can give you invaluable skills that will help you in any career.

“A liberal arts education can prepare you for a broad range of careers — consulting, marketing, banking, publishing, public relations, etc.,” says Lesley Mitler, president of Priority Candidates, Inc., an organization that provides career coaching to college students and recent grads. “These majors bring certain skills that are desirable in [students’] long-term career advancement — research, critical thinking, analytical reasoning and communication.”

Your major might not have a clear career path, so it’s okay that you’re undecided. Consider your major versatile instead of ambiguous. You may not have a set career path like other fields of study, but you can pursue a ton of different opportunities someday!

You’ll probably change your mind

When you were little, all you wanted to do was become a doctor, a writer or maybe a lawyer. As soon as you got to college, you declared a major that would help you achieve those dreams, only to find out that you absolutely hated the subject after the first few weeks. Now what?

Whether you find yourself not liking your current major or you stumble upon a completely new passion that you may want to pursue, don’t freak out! It’s completely normal to change your mind as you’re exposed to new topics and fields.

Megan Shuffleton, a junior at Emerson College, entered school as a media studies major, which she considers her version of undeclared.  “I chose media studies because it seemed vague and I thought it might be a way to explore a few areas before deciding on anything,” she says. “I changed my major after one week of classes. I didn’t like the department I was in and [switched to marketing]. Don’t worry, so many students switch their majors and change their minds and end up where they want to be!”

Similarly, Elodie Jean-Philippe, a junior at Duke University, changed her mind a couple times about her major and future career plans. “I was never truly undecided, but there was a period of time when I dropped my pre-med and biology and was figuring out what to do,” she says. “It was scary, but I knew it was going to be okay.”

After visiting the career center, Elodie decided on a political science major. “At the time, I was addicted to anything political, but I realized I knew nothing about it, so I went ahead with the major,” she says. “I added two certificates to learn more about markets and economics, and [now I’m interested in] consulting for politics!”

You might even pull a 180, like Rachel Cisto, a senior at the University of Hartford. “My coworkers at the Student Television Network like to laugh about how I got to where I am now,” Rachel says. “I came in as a physics major and joined the TV station because it looked like fun, and I ended up switching my major to journalism because of it!”

College is a time to take a variety of classes and learn a bunch of different things. So instead of being freaked out by being undecided or changing your mind, use it as an opportunity to explore your interests — and have confidence that you’ll find what you love eventually!

Ways to find a career path

So you have an idea of the possible careers you can pursue with your major — now it’s time to narrow it down. There are countless opportunities to discover a possible career path and tons of available resources to guide you. Keep these tips in mind and you should gain a better understanding of what you want to do someday.

Do some research

Something you can do on your own as a first step is researching what possible careers your major could lead to. “An easy way to do this on your own is to go to linkedin.com/alumni,” Perez suggests. “Search for [your school’s] alumni by major to get an idea of what, for example, psychology majors have gone on to do.”

The LinkedIn alumni tool allows you to search alumni by what they studied and find out their current jobs as well as where they currently live. There’s also a feature that allows you to determine the requirements for certain jobs. So, if you find a job you’re interested in, you can add a minor or another major if you need to in order to pursue that field after college.

Another way to do research is to talk to someone with a job! The best way to find out if you’ll like a career is to ask people who are actually working in your desired field. “Speak to people who are doing jobs that you think you might be interested in,” Mitler says. “Attend career fairs and information sessions, and talk to a company representative to find out what certain jobs entail.”

You can also use the LinkedIn alumni tool to connect with professionals for this purpose. By doing some basic research, you may find that you can narrow down your career path by just knowing some of the options out there!

Visit your school’s career center

After you do some research, you should consider visiting your career center. Besides editing your resume or helping you write a cover letter, the counselors there can guide you through the career decision process.

“The people I talked to [in the career center] really helped,” Elodie says. “They asked me a lot of random questions, like what TV shows I watch, to help narrow it down. That’s how I got interested in political science!”

Perez suggests asking if you can take a career assessment test at the career center. “When it comes to students I see for career assessments, some of them are students that are undeclared and some are students that have a major but don't know what to do with it,” she says. “I would recommend that students that fall in the latter category definitely meet with a career counselor on campus to go over resources they can use to explore some career options based on their interests.”

Your career center is a great resource to narrow down your career path options; it’s literally what it’s there for! By talking to a career counselor, you may discover a possible career path you never even considered before.

Apply for an internship

Once you decide you’re interested in specific careers, try to get an internship in those fields. Real-world experience will help you decide if you can actually see yourself in that career someday.

“I explored my publishing interests by acquiring an editorial internship, which allowed me to explore the magazine industry,” Megan says. “And at the beginning of this semester, I acquired a public relations internship. These internships have really secured my interests and helped me gather an even better idea of what I might want to do in the future.”

Websites like Internships.com and CollegeRecruiter.com can be good places to start finding internships in your desired field. You can also ask a counselor at your career center if they have any databases for internships.

Beyond that, reach out to alumni again or use your LinkedIn connections to see if there are any opportunities you’re interested in. Beyond using the LinkedIn alumni tool, your career center probably keeps a record of alumni, which could be a good resource for finding connections for internships.

Internships are great because they give you hands-on experience in the working world, and you can determine what you like (and don’t like) pretty quickly. Whether you do an internship over the summer or during the school year, try out different types of internships to narrow down your career search.

Whether you have no idea what careers your major may lead to or you’ve changed your mind about your dream job, it’s okay to be unsure of what you want to do with your life after college. Don’t freak out; use your college’s career resources and explore your interests inside and outside of the classroom. In no time, you’ll be able to confidently answer, “What are you going to do with that?”

As if Taylor Swift wasn't already busy enough running the music industry, she's graciously taken on a yet another role. Model Jaime King asked her pal Taylor to be the godmother of her unborn child. Taylor shared this picture on her Instagram confirming that she can't wait to meet her new godchild. There's no doubt this baby will be born into a star-studded world—if we had to bet on it, we'd say she'll have her first selfie with Beyoncé before her first birthday. Oh, and not only will this baby be adorable, she'll also have the coolest godmother ever.

Guess who just got named Godmother of this little one..... (ME) @jaime_king @kyle_newman

Elizabeth Holmes Sets a Record on Forbes' Billionaires List

Every year, Forbes announces a list of a new class of billionaires joining the ranks of the mind-bogglingly wealthy business leaders that essentially run the world. This year Elizabeth Holmes, the CEO of Theranos (a medical technology company), was added to the list. Not only that, she is also the youngest self-made billionaire to ever make the list.

The 31-year-old woman's net worth comes in around $4.5 million, according to Forbes. Her company is actually making a difference in the medical field, which makes her net worth all the more incredible. Theranos' goal is to make blood analysis faster, simpler, and cheaper. The blood tests they have developed are able to use much less of a blood sample to find much more than blood analysis has been able to in the past—with only a few drops, they are able to find dozens of illnesses.

Ultimately, Theranos aims to allow you to diagnose and treat illnesses like diabetes or high cholesterol for less than five dollars at a drugstore near you, rather than dealing with huge needles and even bigger medical bills at a doctor's office. Walgreens in both Arizona and California have already hopped on board with this plan, and Theranos hopes to get 8,200 more pharmacies to join them in the future to help make this dream a reality.

Elizabeth Holmes founded this company when she was only 19 years old, and she dropped out of Stanford to pursue her career. She told CNN, "I think a lot of young people have incredible ideas and incredible insights, but sometimes they wait before they go give their life to something. What I did was just to start a little earlier."

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Molly

$

Move over, marijuana: MDMA, sometimes called “Molly,” is having a moment. From Miley Cyrus coyly name-dropping the drug in “We Can’t Stop” to the alarming articles on blogs and news sites citing its danger, Molly has been everywhere. We talked to collegiettes across the country and Dr. Mason Gomberg, a pediatrician, about some of the things you may not know about Molly.

1. Combining Molly with other substances is extremely dangerous

Because Molly is considered a club drug, which means that people often use it at raves, concerts and clubs because of its euphoric effects, people often mix it with other drugs or alcohol. According to Gomberg, this is a potentially lethal combination.

“MDMA should not be mixed with other drugs, for most drugs are not fully pure, containing chemicals that can dangerously interact with each other,” he says. “One of the more common drugs used with MDMA is alcohol. This is a very bad combination because it often exacerbates the negative effects due to the diuretic effect of alcohol.”

A drug is diuretic when it causes you to urinate more often, sometimes causing dehydration. As you’ll read next, Molly can dehydrate you too, so combining it with a diuretic seriously jeopardizes your health.

2. It makes you super dehydrated

As Gomberg explained, mixing alcohol and Molly can make you dehydrated. Why? Taking Molly elevates your temperature, making you thirsty. Combined with alcohol, which makes you urinate more often, you’re at risk for dehydration. But even taking Molly alone increases your chance of dehydration.

On the opposite end, it can also cause you to become over-hydrated. Some Molly users will overcompensate for their thirst and high temperature by drinking a ton of water. However, drinking too much water can disturb the salt and electrolyte balance in your body, Gomberg says. Both dehydration and over-hydration can cause your body’s organs to fail, leading to harm or, in severe cases, death.

3. It’s definitely not “pure”

Molly is what some people say is the “purer” form of MDMA, Gomberg says, but the drug is far from pure. Because Molly is illegal, and therefore not regulated, what you think you’re ingesting could contain anything. Drugs are often laced with other substances, and the contents of the capsule you take can vary.

According to EcstasyData.org, an independent laboratory pill testing program, MDMA can contain everything from ibuprofen to aspirin to acetaminophen—all painkillers. Because you really have no idea what you’re taking (a capsule could be one part ecstasy, another part ibuprofen), you’re putting your body at risk because you don’t know how the drugs may interact.

4. Abusing Molly can put you at risk for mental health problems

While trying Molly once or twice will not put you at risk for long-term effects, using it regularly (several times a month or more) for several years will. “Long-term users of MDMA are more prone to depression, anxiety and memory loss,” Gomberg says. “It has also been proven that long-term use of MDMA causes brain damage by interfering with serotonin communication in the brain.” Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates your mood, sleep and appetite.

“I sometimes feel glum for a few days after [taking Molly],” Lizzie, a junior at Vassar College, says. Whether or not you already suffer from anxiety or depression, using Molly regularly can impair brain functions, causing you to feel down.

5. It’s becoming more and more popular

According to a 2010 United Nations  drug report , around 10 to 25 million people use Molly at least once a year. While there aren’t a lot of statistics about Molly use among college students, a 2002 study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health noted that use of the drug increased between 1999 and 2000.

The drug is also illegal in the United States. “MDMA is illegal and considered a Schedule I drug due to the fact that it has high potential for abuse, lack of safe use and no current accepted medical use,” Gomberg says.

Then why is the drug so popular? Gomberg says Molly has become popular because of its feel-good effects and the fact that it’s relatively cheap. Molly’s increase in popularity means you’re more likely to come across it at college parties. Prevalence also can make the drug seem not as harmful, since it may appear that “everyone is doing it.” However, not everyone is, and those who are doing it are taking a huge risk.

The bottom line

MDMA can be fun, but the negative side effects are plentiful and dangerous. “The negatives of MDMA outweigh all the positives. It is not worth it. Your brain is precious—do not damage such a precious part of your body,” Gomberg says.

“College is the best time of your life and it is a time to explore and learn,” he says—not a time to damage your brain and body.

17 Reasons Why TGIT is the Best Night of Our Week

Everyone who's anyone knows about TGIT: "Thank God It's Thursday." Thanks to the genius of Shonda Rhimes, Thursday nights are our favorite nights of the week; we get back-to-back new episodes of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder. We're not sure how we got to be so lucky, but we do know that come 8 p.m. every Thursday, we're planted on our couches with a glass of wine and popcorn (maybe even cookie dough...) in hand to watch the crazy, riveting drama unfold. Last week's finale of How to Get Away With Murder had us on the edge of our seats, and we can't wait to see what Grey's and Scandal have in store for us this week. Every Thursday is filled with a roller coaster of emotions, and here's why it's absolutely worth not going out:

1. Grey's has been around so long that sitting down to watch it is like cuddling up with our person...

2. ...especially when we've had a rough week.

3. Because Meredith's dark and twisty humor is just what we need.

4. And her #realtalk gets us feeling all the feels.

5. So do every character's love struggles.

6. But just when we need a little pick-me-up after a particularly emosh episode of Grey's, Scandal comes on, and Olivia Pope reminds us that we are gladiators.

7. Only she understands our love of wine...

8. ...and love of the guys who treat us like the powerful women we are.

9. Olivia goes to the end of the earth to get what she wants...

10. ...all while wearing the chicest clothes. Duh.

11. But even Olivia Pope has moments of weakness...

12. ...which is why at 10 o'clock, the next powerful woman, Annalise, rolls in with How to Get Away With Murder...

13. ...to remind us not to make hasty decisions...

14. And yet, we still want to be a member of Annalise's posse...

15. ...because despite everything, they seem to have a lot of fun.

16. TGIT brings us a trio of shows sure to make us think about real issues...

...like race

...and gender dynamics

...and sexuality

...and ethics.

17. And, you know, really juicy guilty-pleasure drama.

#sorrynotsorry, we can't get enough. Ever. Can it be TGIT every night, please?

Maybe we should be saying TGFSR (Thank God For Shonda Rhimes) instead!

5 Ways to Make Your Diet Actually Fun

$

It’s time for spring break (aka the start of swimsuit season!), and you’re pumped to work out every day, eat healthy and become a total beach goddess with a killer bod. You’re super motivated and you promise yourself that you’ll stay on track… which lasts approximately three days. Then you’re bored and back on the couch. What gives?

Most collegiettes give up their diet-and-exercise plan because it’s bland and boring. But it doesn’t have to be! Check out Her Campus’s ways to shake up your diet so you’ll stay motivated!

1. Swap ingredients for healthier (but still yummy!) meals

Your Pinterest board is bursting with dessert recipes that you are dying to try… except you just started your diet. For a lot of collegiettes, the word “diet” is synonymous with salads, no chocolate and general sadness. But just because you’re dedicated to eating healthier doesn’t mean you have to give up all your favorite foods! By swapping out fatty or high-calorie ingredients for healthy ones, you can still enjoy your favorite meals while staying on track with your diet.

“You are what you eat,” says Lauren Miga, a registered dietitian and personal trainer. “Nutrition and fitness go hand in hand; eating healthier results in more effective workouts and overall better health.”

Some of the most common swaps include Greek yogurt for heavy cream or sour cream, avocado puree for butter and spaghetti squash for pasta. Even just switching from white rice to quinoa or ground beef to ground turkey can improve your diet and make you feel better about your meal choices. Here’s a recipe so you can try out your healthy culinary skills!

Creamy Mac and Cheese (with Greek yogurt instead of cream)
From Cooking ala Mel

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (about 2 cups) whole-wheat elbow pasta
  • 8 ounces (about 2 cups) shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

  1. Cook macaroni according to the package’s instructions.
  2. Place the spinach leaves in the bottom of the strainer and pour pasta over top to drain and wilt the spinach. Save ½ cup of the pasta water.
  3. Return cooked macaroni and wilted spinach to the pot. Add ¼ of the reserved pasta water to the pot and stir in cheese until melted.
  4. Stir in Greek yogurt, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper until smooth. Stir in remaining pasta water to thin if necessary.

2. Buy some cute workout clothes

Let’s face it: one of the main reasons you started your diet is because it’s an excuse to buy that super-cute leggings/tank combo. No judgment here! Every girl has the right to look hot going to the gym. Buying the right (fashionable) items to work out in can encourage you to actually exercise.

Megan Shuffleton, a junior at Emerson College, knows this firsthand. “Invest in some cute workout clothes!” she suggests. “You’ll be more motivated to show off at the gym and you’ll just feel better, allowing you to perform better.”

Need some fashion inspiration? Rock this Fierce Tank ($24.99) and channel your inner Beyoncé. Pair it with these cool multicolored shorts (lululemon, $54) and lace up some hot-pink Nike kicks ($100). You’ll be working out and looking great in no time!

3. Grab a buddy and bring on the competition

You know who makes anything more fun? Your friends! Or your mom. Or maybe a sibling. Try working out or sticking to a diet with someone else. Shannon Zhu, a junior at NYU, says she loves having a buddy. “My mom is my home buddy and we make sure the other doesn’t binge so we stick to our diet,” she says. “I also have a friend that I do INSANITY workouts with. Having someone to hold you accountable really helps!”

Take it to the next level by adding some friendly competition. “Have a fitness challenge with your girlfriends,” suggests registered dietitian Brooke Schantz.“Sign up for a 5K or participate in a charity cyclathon to motivate and push yourself.”

See who can run the fastest mile or swear off ice cream the longest.  Make a bet that the loser has to cook a healthy lunch for everyone or clean the whole apartment, and have a new challenge every week to keep it interesting. Want to step it up even more? Consider joining a sports league with your friends. It’s a great way to spend time together, and the competition will motivate you to work even harder!

4. Switch it up

One reason why collegiettes quit their diet or exercise plan is because they do the same thing. Every. Single. Day. How could you not get bored?

“Trying new foods and new routines is great,” says Julia Flaherty, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. “Discovering what works for you can sometimes be a process, but once you've figured it out, it's easy to stay there. I love engaging my core and I’m a big fan of walking and jogging!”

When warmer weather is (finally) here, take your workouts outside! “Some of my favorite outdoor workouts is walking with a friend and doing body-weight exercises every 10 minutes,” says Melanie Ludwig, owner of Prestige Fitness “Lunges, squats and push-ups against a park bench are a great way to be outside and tone up those problem areas.”

Miga suggests researching themed running events, like a Color Run, a mud run or a Glow Run to spice up your workout. Try paddleboarding if you’re near a body of water, or check out hiking trails in your area. Sometimes local recreation facilities and park districts offer free outdoor yoga classes or dance lessons. Even activities like gardening, walking your dog or roller-skating can be forms of exercise. Whatever you decide to do, just get outside and beat your boredom!

5. Get techy

Looking for something a little more 21st century? “There have been numerous studies showing that keeping track of your progress increases the likelihood of reaching fitness goals,” Schantz says. “Good thing there are so many fun and user-friendly apps to help us out!”

Check out Fooducate, whose app allows you to scan barcodes at the grocery store for a “health grade,” detailed product info and healthier substitutions. This way, you can make all those new healthy recipes!

Another app, Pact, actually pays you for working out, eating more veggies or logging your food, depending on which Pact you choose. Each week you can set a goal, and every time you track your food, eat your veggies (verified with phone photos) or go to the gym (verified with your phone’s GPS), it pays you! However, if you don’t make your goals, money is taken from your “bank.” Now that’s what we call motivation!

Want to work out for a cause? Download Charity Miles, where you can choose from dozens of different organizations to raise money for. You can earn up to 25 cents for every mile you run, walk or bike.

If you use music to pump yourself up, then definitely check out jog.fm, which finds music to match your pace. We can barely put down our phones as it is, so why not use them to reach your fitness goals?

Whether you’re trying to eat more veggies or you’re training for a half marathon, sticking to a healthy-living plan is hard work. Say goodbye to your boring diet and change it up with these tips. And don’t give up! This is the season for a healthier, happier you.

Khloe Kardashian Wants to Join 'Fashion Police'

After E! News correspondent and Fashion Police co-host Giuliana Rancic made controversial comments about actress Zendaya probably smelling like "patchouli oil or weed" based on her hair choice at the Oscars, Rancic faced heavy criticism from all sides: Zendaya herself, the public—and her fellow co-host, Kelly Osbourne. Though Rancic has apologized on the air and on social media, at least one person apparently hasn't accepted those apologies.

Kelly confirmed her departure from the show last week, and Khloe Kardashian is reportedly vying for her spot on the show. She's no stranger to E! News, either—she's made appearances of her own on Fashion Police and has also been seen reporting from the red carpet at awards shows, so we'd say she's a pretty likely candidate for the position. Plus, as we know from years of binge watching every collegiette's ultimate guilty pleasure, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Khloe isn't afraid to tell it like it is and is pretty hysterical to boot.

What do you think about this potential new addition to the show? Would you love to see more of Khloe Kardashian?

So the next time you’re planning a night in, stop by the produce section and whip up one of these multi-tasking cocktails.

1. Berry Sangria

  2. Refrigerate until cold, about four hours.
  3. Just before serving, stir in seltzer.

2. Pomegranate Martini

If there’s one food you should add to your diet right now (in martini form or not) it’s pomegranate. This tart and sweet fruit is one of the most nutrient dense foods out there. It has powerful antioxidants that have proven to boost your immune system and keep your heart healthy. This martini recipe also claims to be one of Oprah’s favorites, so if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for us.

5. Grapefruit Cucumber Cocktail

Cucumber is full of health benefits. This super vegetable is great for keeping you hydrated, which you’ll need if you drink a few too many. Besides that, it’s a good source of potassium, magnesium and fiber. The grapefruit also helps to boost your metabolism and adds some vitamin C.

  5. Garnish with grapefruit wedges and cucumber slices.

6.  Fresh Mango Margarita

If you want gorgeous, glowing skin in time for spring and summer, you’ll want to make a batch of these margaritas right away. Mangoes are one of the best fruits for your skin. They can reduce dark spots and acne and leave your skin with an overall glow. They’re high in Beta carotene and vitamin A that all help revive your complexion.

7.  Kale Martini

If whipping up a green smoothie every morning just isn’t your thing, here’s another way to get your daily dose of kale. The leafy green vegetable is high is vitamins A and K, which both help to build strong bones and teeth. It’s detoxing, anti-inflammatory and believed to prevent cancer.

Greek life is meant to be an exciting, empowering part of your college career. When you pledge a Greek organization, your whole college experience changes. You find like-minded people who share the same values that you hold close, and it’s like a home away from home.

The LGBTQ+ community is definitely not excluded from the impactful world that is Greek life. While many mainstream Greek organizations are accepting of potential queer members, there are also organizations specifically created for the LGBTQ+ community.

So for those of you queer women who are still trying to decide whether or not you should rush, here’s your personal guide to LGBTQ+ Greek organizations and why they might be great for you!

1. Gamma Rho Lambda (GRL) National Sorority

Founded: Arizona State University in 2003

Chapters:16

Colors: Purple and black

Best known as:The first lesbian sorority”

How to join: Rush

What makes them stand out: Gamma Rho Lambda distinguishes itself from many other LBT Greek orgs because it is open to women of all gender identities and sexual orientations, as well as tailoring itself specifically to collegiate women.

Garance Merholz from the Zeta Chapter at the University of California, Los Angeles says that GRL not only helped break down the stereotypes she had in mind about Greek life, but also had a huge impact on her college experience.

“GRL has provided me with a circle of people who really understand me and who don't judge me for who I am,” Garance says. “Through them, I have been able to build my own little community and realized that I am part of something bigger, that we can really do something to make the world a more open and compassionate place.”

2. Alpha Lambda Zeta Fraternity

Founded: Houston, Texas, and Atlanta, Georgia, in 2006

Chapters:19

Colors: Wine, black and opal

Best fit: For masculine-identified lesbians

How to join: Submit a letter of interest

What makes them stand out: This organization is based on their five principles: fraternal sisterhood, political activism, community volunteerism, erudition and professionalism. One of their philanthropies is the Lambda Action Network, a national community service initiative that provides service such as LGBT youth mentoring.

This fraternity isn’t just involved in service, but they’re also down for political activism as well. Another one of their philanthropies is VOICE, a national political outreach initiative that aims to help minority gays and lesbians become respected political alliances.

3. Theta Pi Sigma Frarority

Founded: University of California, Santa Cruz in 2005

Chapters:Four

Best known as:“The world’s first frarority”

How to join: Rush

What makes them all stand out: Calling all genderqueer collegiettes! This could be the perfect Greek organization for you. Theta Pi Sigma holds events catering specifically to the LGBTQ+ community, such as Breaking the Silence rallies with LGBTQ+ youth and allies and Sexual Assault Awareness Workshops, where they focus on “queering consent.”

They also all-inclusive community service events, with everything from One Billion Rising events, which set out to spread awareness about ending violence against women, to homeless shelter clothing drives on campus.

4. Alpha Pi Delta Sorority

Founded: Houston, Texas in 2010

Colors: Royal Purple, Impeccable Turquoise and Onyx

How to join: Submit a membership interest request form

What makes them stand out: Alpha Pi Delta is well known for their philanthropy, the C.A.L.L.A. Lily Academy (the Cultured, Astute, Loving, Leading, Academic Ladies). This seven-week, free summer program is for young ladies ages 7-17 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It is designed to teach the girls ethics and respect, encourage and develop their self-esteem, help them practice proper etiquette, help them develop leadership skills and professional development skills and more.

5. Kappa Alpha Lambda Sorority, Inc. (KALSI)

Founded: Clark Atlanta University in 2003

Chapters:Six provinces

Colors: Pink, black and pearl

Best fit: For the “professionally sophisticated, classy, feminine lesbian”

How to join: Submit the KALSI interest application

What makes them stand out: KALSI has a five-facet philanthropy program, including civil equality for LGBT people, diversity and tolerance education, health awareness, economic empowerment and leadership preparation and development. This organization of empowered ladies prides itself on being the only LGBT organization to develop a financial education program, arrange a strategy meeting with a state congressional official, and to initiate action in protest of human rights violations in Darfur, Sudan.

Whether or not you decide to rush a Greek-letter organization is your own personal decision, but it’s always exciting to know that you can find an organization with people to whom you relate on a more personal level.

“LGBTQ+ Greek life is still crucial because many people out there are still in search of a safe space and don't even know that they exist,” Garance says. “It is important because it allows individuals to be involved in LGBTQ+ activism while getting educated about things that really matter to them, and meeting real people with real stories. I think Greek life overall is beneficial for college students to find their space and associate with peers who understand them and pursue similar passions.”

While these might not be the mainstream sororities you see on television, they have everything that every Greek organization should: supportive communities where you can potentially find love, support and, most importantly, a new family to call your own.

The 9 Friends You Need on Spring Break

$

Your spring break will only be as good as the posse you have with you. Whether you’re hitting up a party hot spot, going abroad or planning a staycation in town, these are the friends you’re going to be eating, drinking, sleeping, shopping and doing everything with for a week. For optimal spring break fun, we’ve got a list of every type of friend you need by your side as you take on a week of freedom.

1. The Guy Magnet

You know the friend we’re talking about: the girl who, no matter where she goes, attracts a flock of men to her side. Her magnetism isn’t just uncanny, it’s a dang superpower, and it makes her the perfect ally to have on your vacay. The Guy Magnet will ensure a potential spring break fling is always in your radius. With all the fun there is to be had on spring break, the less time you spend seeking out guys – and the more The Guy Magnet’s hotness draws them to you instead – the better!

The Guy Magnet’s catchphrase:“Will there be guys there?”

Extra perk: Free drinks. You know guys are always tripping over themselves to treat The Guy Magnet and her posse to refreshments on them!

2. The Wingwoman

Sure, The Guy Magnet will attract the guys, but The Wingwoman will help you land one. A dedicated partner in crime will help you work the bar if you need it and make your spring-break flirting game 10 times better. Not only will having someone you’re in sync with add more tricks to your flirting arsenal, but let’s be real: teaming up to score is always more fun than going at it alone. Just be sure you help her get some, too.

The Wingwoman’s catchphrase:“Which guy do you want?”

Extra perk: Your wingwoman knows your taste, so you might meet someone you’ll like as more than just a weeklong fling.

3. The Photog

Let’s be real: The Photog is a blessing any time of the year, but when you have a friend who is on it when it comes to capturing your Kodak moments, she’s a necessary addition to any spring break group. She’ll be the one snapping candids, reminding you to pose at touristy stops and juggling her iPhone and DSLR on every outing. Sometimes her constant need to document everything might get on your nerves (why does she need a picture of you guys brushing your teeth, anyway?), but you know you secretly appreciate it, especially when it comes time for a new prof pic. So smile, say cheese and let the magic happen!

The Photog’s catchphrase:“Don’t worry; I’ll put them all on Facebook.”

Extra perk: She knows all your best angles – and gets those Insta-worthy candid shots!

4. The Planner

Spring break may be about letting loose and getting wild, but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a little method to your madness, so make sure someone in your group doesn’t mind taking the reins on the planning. The Planner will know which hot spots to hit up, where the party’s at and where to stop to refuel, so you and your friends can spend less time saying, “I don’t know, what do you wanna do?” and more time enjoying the locale. Not to mention, she’s probably the one who put your trip into motion in the first place, so you know you’re in good hands.

The Planner’s catchphrase:“I read about this great place on Yelp!”

Extra perk: With how much time she spent on TripAdvisor pre-vacation, you know you’ll never get lost.

5. The Risk-Taker

To balance out The Planner, see to it that your crew includes a Risk-Taker to infuse some spontaneity into your trip and encourage you to break out of your shell. She’ll be the one dragging you into crazy clubs, past “Do Not Enter” signs or out for a late-night skinny-dip in the ocean. Every girl needs a friend who will drag you to places crazy and unknown – chances are, her spur-of-the-moment suggestions will lead to nights you won’t forget. Be careful not to let things get too wild, though; you don’t want to wind up reenacting Spring Breakers.

The Risk-Taker’s catchphrase:“What’s the worst that could happen?”

Extra perk: You’ll have stories to tell your friends back home for months.

6. The Hipster

Sure, sometimes you might giggle at her underground taste, but if you’re taking on a particularly touristy city, you’ll be thankful for someone who can drag you away from the mainstream. The Hipster will know off-the-wall places for your group to grab a breather: quirky shops; hip, vegan restaurants; bars that won’t be packed wall-to-wall with sweaty spring breakers. You know, the kind of places no one in their right mind would think to go to on spring break, but you’ll be so glad you did.

The Hipster’s catchphrase:“You probably haven’t heard of it.”

Extra perk: Street cred. Hey, don’t lie: you’ll be passing off her suggestions as your own some day.

7. The Mother Hen

Admittedly, sometimes spring break can get a little wild, so having The Mother Hen around to ensure you don’t go too hard means a safer spring break for everyone. She’ll play the necessary role in making you guys get back to your hotel in one piece every night and giving her stamp of approval for your spring-break flings. Even if it’s just a girl to hold back your hair during a particularly rough hangover, you’ll be thankful you’ve got a dash of responsibility on your team. Just make sure you watch out for yourself and keep it classy so she doesn’t have to be your babysitter, too.

The Mother Hen’s catchphrase:“You doing okay?”

Extra perk: If your spring break plans include a car, you’ll probably get a designated driver out of your Mother Hen, too. Here’s to saving money on cab fare!

8. The Guy

Don’t be afraid to bring your guy friends along on your trip, too! A little testosterone is rarely a bad thing, and you never know when you might need a fake boyfriend to swoop in and scare off a pushy local. Whether you bring a Frat Star to show you how to do a keg stand, a Gay BFF to enjoy the sights and go dancing with or a Single Guy to play matchmaker for, having a guy around will add a new dynamic to any spring break crew.

The Guy’s catchphrase: No matter what it was pre-spring break, it’s definitely going to be “I need some guy time” when you get home.

Extra perk: He can put his brawn to use and clear the path for you and your friends at any crowded party.

9. The Friend of a Friend

Who says you need to be tight with everyone on your spring vacation? Encourage your group to draft their own friends into your plans to spice up your normal group dynamic. They don’t say “The more, the merrier” for nothing, right?

The Friend of a Friend’s catchphrase: Well, you’ll just have to wait to find out, won’t you?

Extra perk: You might get a new friend out of it!

No need to worry if you don’t have a friend who fits nicely into each role; you’ll probably have them all covered without even realizing it! Your Guy Magnet might also be your Wingwoman, your Guy also your Photog. Not to mention, you’re probably one of the above, too. All that’s left to do is take inventory, round up your crew and hit the road. Happy spring break, collegiettes!

6 Things You Need to Do Before a Career Fair

$
0
0

Chances are that your college’s career center hosts a career fair every semester. Haven’t been to one? This is the semester to start going!

A career fair is an event in which representatives form companies looking for new interns or employees gather in one place to present information about the companies and their opportunities (convenient for you, right?). Career fairs present you with the opportunity to see what these organizations are all about. You can attend and prove that you could be a great addition to their companies! What better way to put yourself out there? Check out six things you need to do before going to a career fair.

1. Research the Companies

It’s important to prepare for a career fair the same way you would prepare for an exam. You need to do a little bit of studying! Know which companies are going to be at the fair before you walk in, and make sure you have an idea of what they’re all about. Remember: you need to know how a particular company runs in order to decide if it’s beneficial for you to intern or work there.

Doing your research will definitely make you stand out from the other students. “When students take the time to research companies, they can demonstrate the knowledge of a company when approaching the recruiters at the fair,” says Alicia Rodriguez, director of employer relations at the University of Miami’s career center. “Imagine the difference when approaching an employer and impressing him or her based on what you know about the company, as opposed to asking, ‘What does your company do?’”

Start off by looking around the company’s site and reading its mission statement.  Then, search for the company on Google News to read about any recent happenings relating to the organization.

Researching companies beforehand gives you an edge because you’ll know exactly which opportunities will work for you, and you can impress potential employers with your knowledge.

2. Make a Map

Knowing which companies will be at the fair will also help you prioritize which prospects are most important to you. Check out your career center’s website to see if there is a list of the companies attending and a map of where their booths will be. It’s much easier to make an organized game plan that way, as one collegiette found.

“When I went to a career fair last semester, I made a list of companies I was most interested in,” says Christina, a senior majoring in psychology at Barnard College. “When I got there, I was given a map of the tables at the fair, so I marked the ones I wanted to go to before I went in. That way, I was able to make the most of my time at the career fair and get to all the companies I wanted to, and then I had time after to wander around and talk to other companies I was less interested in.”

You may be in college, but it’s never too late to use what Dora the Explorer taught you and bring along a trusty map!

3. Update Your Resume

Make sure you don’t walk into a career fair with an outdated resume that doesn’t show your current experience, education and accomplishments (meaning, no high school stuff!).

“An employer at a career fair has only a few seconds to glance at a resume,” says Darlene London Johnson, the senior associate director of Hofstra University’s career center. “Therefore, a clear and specific objective is helpful. As in any case, resumes should highlight a student's accomplishments and show the transferable skills gained from work, volunteer and community activities and extracurricular activities.  Be sure to include extras like technology skills, language fluencies and other things that can be seen as an added bonus.”

You want your resume to show all that you’ve achieved during your time at college as well as how prepared you are to take the next step and have an internship or job. Why else have you been running around campus like a madwoman, investing your time in tons of extracurricular activities and pulling all-nighters on the reg?

You never know how big of an impression an awesome resume will leave, so always be prepared by carrying plenty of copies with you.

“Putting down your email for them is okay, but my successful offer happened because the person there put a star on the physical copy I handed her,” says Megan, a junior majoring in news and editorial journalism and political science at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Awesome opportunities can arise because your resume leaves an amazing first impression, so take the time beforehand to work on it and make it stellar.

4. Pick Out a Great Outfit

Showing up to a career fair and standing in front of company representatives in a wrinkly, stained dress shirt and shoes you wore to your middle school graduation is a definite no-no. You need to dress the part of a professional (think of it as a shopping spree opportunity!).

“There is a saying: ‘You never get a second chance to make a first impression,’” Johnson says. “That is entirely true regarding what a student chooses to wear to a [career] fair.  Dressing professionally lets an employer know that you know what it is like to be in a professional environment and that you really want to make that great first impression.  It shows the seriousness of your intent.  Dressing in a sloppy manner conveys an attitude of not caring, and that is not what an employer wants to see.”

You don’t have to wear a full-on Hillary-Clinton-style power suit, but looking classy and professional goes a long way in the eyes of employers. Try to dress the way you would for an interview. Make sure you try on your outfit in advance to avoid any last-minute panic when you realize your skirt’s zipper is broken or your top doesn’t look right with your pants 15 minutes before the career fair starts.

Don’t forget the details! If you think potential employers won’t notice the wrinkles in your shirt or that your nails have been destroyed by your lifelong nail-biting habit, think again!

“Students should pay attention to every detail, from shoes, makeup, hemline and nails,” Johnson says. “I had a recruiter tell me once that chipped nail polish was a big turnoff to her.”

5. Practice Your Networking Skills

Always be prepared for the number-one reason you’re at the career fair: to network! The entire point is to market yourself and make companies see why you would be their perfect intern or employee.

“Practice your elevator pitch!” Rodriguez says. “Imagine if you met your dream employer and you only had 30 seconds in an elevator ride with that person. How would you convey your brand in that short period of time? Make a great first impression by demonstrating passion for the industry you wish to pursue.”

If you need help with your elevator pitch, check out our tips for how to perfect it!

Half of networking is expressing professional mannerisms with whomever you meet at career fairs. And if you’re inexperienced in the basics, practice!

“A good handshake is the first step,” Johnson says. “Many students have never had to shake hands with someone and don't have a clue how. Practice shaking hands with people and ask for their feedback.” A strong handshake indicates confidence and power, so make sure you have a firm grip and you’re looking the representative in the eye.

In order to network effectively, confidence and friendliness is essential. This is your chance to win over potential bosses. Take advantage of this incredible opportunity!

6. Make Business Cards

Now that you know how to win over recruiters with your networking skills, know in advance how to make sure they remember your name.

Having a business card has a similar effect to having a LinkedIn account; it shows that you’ve taken the time to market yourself and are striving to be professional and fit into the working world. Likewise, taking the business card of a representative gives you a way to stay in contact and helps you follow up with him or her after the fair.

“Students should always take the business card from the company representative and write an email thanking that person for attending the fair with a copy of their resume attached for quick reference,” Johnson says.

Don’t have your own business cards? Read how to get your own here!

When the signs start popping up in the hallways about your college’s upcoming career fair, go! Study and prepare for the big day, because you never know what fabulous opportunities might be waiting for you.

Now that St. Patty's is right around the corner, it's time that we acknowledge the various stages that every hardcore fan of the holiday experiences:

1. You spend hours shopping for the perfect green outfit and leprechaun props. Shamrocks, anyone?

2. You consider dyeing your hair red...

...because you want your share of free drinks. Plus, red hair makes you look like an Irish goddess. Will you regret it later? Probably.

Did someone say beer in bed? Maybe you'll hold off a little longer...?

You can devour a sumptuous meal and forget all about counting calories for a day!

Oh, and let's not forget that your meal comes with a side of extra... booze!

After breaking out the classic bad hair day hat yesterday, Kim Kardashian debuted a brand new look in Paris today. In honor of her new locks, we decided to take a look at the numerous new 'dos that she has already sported this year.

January 2015

1. Fresh out of the shower realness with the short-and-wet grunge look for Love Magazine

2. Classic Kim K with long, loose flowing waves

3. Sleeked to perfection low ponytail with not a flyaway in sight

February 2015

4. Beachy waves for a beach photo shoot

5. No-nonsense middle part featuring an assistant holding up a towel

6. Wet hair, don’t care with supermodel Cara Delevingne.

7. She must be going for that long-haired slicked back look T. Swift was talking about

8. In the words of Mrs. Kardashian-West herself, “I cut my hair short today”

9. Is she giving you the side-eye or is it just this wavy, swooped bang look? The world may never know

10. Not quite sure what this look was, but it was definitely something that Kim’s hair did in 2015

March 2015

11. We know it’s not much, but it is the world’s first glimpse at her newest hairstyle

12. The big reveal

While some of social media seems to think that Kim took a page out of Draco Malfoy’s book, others are totally impressed by her daring hair risk. She might not be as courageous as her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, when it comes to switching hair colors at a moment’s notice, but she has definitely played with color before. The last time she went blonde was in September 2013, shortly before giving birth to North West. Kim is constantly changing up her look and never seems to have one style for too long. It makes sense that she debuted the new look at Paris Fashion Week—there's no better place to step out in a daring new style!

Kim is going to have to let us know if platinum blondes have even more fun than blondes!

#TBT: 11 Brands that Defined the '90s

$

0

Ah, the '90s. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was a world of chunky clogs and aggressively skimpy crop tops. Let’s take a walk down memory lane and check out the 11 best brands that came out of the decade we were born in.

1. Limited Too

Bedazzled pants. Animal print. Children’s clothing that cost approximately 400 times more than it should have. Naturally, everyone wanted a piece of the Limited lifestyle. The reason you no longer see that beloved storefront sign around any more? The brand has since changed its name to “Tween Brands, Inc.”

2. Roxy

Surfer girls (and surfer girl wannabes) everywhere got a store to call their own when Roxy opened its doors in 1990. The brand popularized the image of an athletic beach girl who spent her time riding the waves instead of lying in the sand tanning. Roxy is still going strong today, and even sponsors a host of surfers, skiers and snowboarders.

3. The Gap

We're going to give you a moment to recover from laughing at what is perhaps the best television ad ever made. Better? Good. We may not think of Gap as a major name in fashion today, but in the 1990s, it assumed an upscale image and gained a substantial following. Gap’s minimalism made it the ultimate place to find those items of clothing that fondly came to be labeled as “basics.” In the 2000s, the Gap brand suffered a bit of an identity crisis, and it hasn’t quite been the same since. Despite closing a large chunk of its US stores, Gap has recently had a surge in popularity abroad, and profits are up.

4. Delia’s

Delia’s catalogs are the stuff of legends. Tweens everywhere eagerly awaited the arrival of the latest pseudo-magazine in their mailbox, and went crazy circling every pair of wide-leg camo pants and floral printed spaghetti strap top they could find. When the company declared bankruptcy late last year,'90s girls everywhere went into mourning.

5. Mudd

Were you looking for a pair of wide-leg jeans that were bedazzled, laced up, or both? Did you want them at a low, low price? Mudd was your answer. Just look at those plastic shoes and tell us there isn’t a part of you that wishes you could wear those out on Friday night.

6. Diesel

Diesel took an aggressive, in-your-face approach to the high end market, making parents recoil while their children flocked to buy jeans priced in the triple digits.

7. Tommy Hilfiger

In the '90s, everyone from presidents to pop stars were rocking Tommy, and sagging jeans everywhere displayed that iconic logo on the underwear underneath.

8. Baby Phat

Launched in 1993, Baby Phat sought to bring women into the Phat brand, and was a major hit. Finally, women everywhere had access to the cropped gold jackets and snakeskin-patterned halter tops they had so desperately craved. Baby Phat’s popularity continued to grow into the 2000s, but we're thankful to say we haven’t seen the signature cat logo around campus lately...

9. Skechers

It may surprise you, but the Skechers of the 1990s was a fashion hit. Especially appealing to the grunge aesthetic, rocking Skechers was what all the '90s cool kids did.

10. Merry-Go-Round

Merry-Go-Round took its name seriously. Its strategy focused on pouncing on new trends, profiting from their popularity, and then moving on to the next big thing. By the mid-'90s, however, Merry-Go-Round was forced to admit that even it couldn’t keep up, and the beloved mall brand was no more.

11. Candie’s

First of all: WHY? We don’t care what decade you’re from—the toilet is not the place to look to for fashion inspiration. But we digress. Candie's was (and still is) a brand dedicated to the bubblegum bad girl that first became popular in the 1960s by selling go-go boots at an alarming rate. In the '90s, some of its print ads were deemed so inappropriate that multiple magazines refused to include them in their publications. As per usual, the moves that upset adults just made young people that much more interested.

Whether you love ’90s fashion or hate it, you have to have a special place in your heart for the era that shaped the fashion landscape of your childhood. This exploration has got us wondering: What will collegiettes in 20 years think about our clothing choices now?

7 Last-Minute Exercises to Get Fit for Spring Break

Spring break is right around the corner, and if you’re lucky, that means friends, sun, sand and bikinis. However, after a winter of eating junk food and binging on Netflix, you might not feel quite bikini-ready. If you’ve been slacking on healthy eating and regular workouts, now is the time to get back into shape! Whether you want to tone up everywhere or focus on one specific problem area, here are some fast ways to get toned and look your best in time for spring break!

1. Crab push-ups

We all want biceps that can rival Jennifer Aniston’s, but arms can be a difficult area to target. Crab push-ups are a great way to tone multiple arm muscles at once for maximum results.

  1. Get in the “crab walk” position: sit down on the floor with your knees bent, feet flat on the floor, with your palms on the floor and your fingertips facing inward towards your body.
  2. Push up with your arms to raise your body off the ground.
  3. Slowly lower yourself back down, stopping just short of touching the ground, and repeat.
  4. Do 20 reps.

These can be challenging at first, so try starting out doing 10 at a time if you need to, and adding more as you get stronger!

2. Arm circles

Arm circles are an incredibly simple and effective way to tone your entire upper arm. To challenge your muscles, use wrist weights or hold a small weight (one to three pounds) in your hands.

  1. Keeping your arms straight, hold them out to your sides so your body makes a “T” shape.
  2. Move your arms in wide, slow circles.
  3. Complete about 25 reps (one full circle is a rep).

3. Reverse crunch

Ab workouts can get repetitive and monotonous, so change it up by introducing some new exercises! The lower abs are a difficult area to target just by doing crunches and sit-ups, so the reverse crunch is a great way to tone this area.

  1. Lay on the ground with your knees slightly bent (as if you were doing a sit-up) and your arms at your sides.
  2. Raise your legs until your hips are slightly off the floor.
  3. Slowly lower your hips back down to the starting position.
  4. Complete 15-20 reps.

4. T-bends

T-bends are a move that can help you whittle your waist and get that coveted hourglass figure.

  1. Using a pair of light weights (about three to five pounds), hold your arms out in a T-shape.
  2. Keeping your arms straight out, slowly bend at the waist to the side, and then return to the starting position.
  3. Repeat on the other side.
  4. Complete 10-15 reps.

5. Warrior I pose

Yoga poses can be extremely effective for toning. The Warrior I pose is a great way to tone your legs and give you a great head-to-toe stretch at the same time!

  1. Raise your hands above your head and arch your back.
  2. Lunge forward with one leg, so your knee is at a 90-degree angle to the ground.
  3. Hold this pose for 30 seconds, and then repeat on your other leg.

6. Side leg raises

To tone the muscles on your hips and the outsides of your legs, which are often hard to target during regular exercise routines, consider trying side leg raises.

  1. Lay on your left side with your legs straight out and your left arm cushioning your head for support.
  2. Slowly lift your right leg, keeping it straight, until it is at about a 45-degree angle from the ground.
  3. Hold the position for a few seconds, and then slowly lower your leg, but don’t bring it all the way down.
  4. Repeat 15 times on each side.

To make this exercise even more challenging and effective, try adding ankle weights.

7. Medicine ball squats

Squats are one of the most effective moves for toning your booty to make sure you’ll rock your bikini bottom! To make a basic squat even more effective, incorporate a medicine ball into the move.

  1. Choose a mid-weight medicine ball, eight to 12 pounds depending on your preferences, and hold it out from your chest.
  2. Squat down so your knees are at a 45 degree angle to the floor, making sure your knees don’t go past your toes.
  3. Slowly raise yourself back upright.
  4. Complete 20-25 reps.

The added weight from the medicine ball will make your muscles work harder, leading to faster results! Squats can often be difficult to do correctly, so try watching this tutorial to ensure you have perfect form and won’t injure yourself.

There’s always pressure to get into perfect shape for spring break, but don’t stress out too much. Eat right, work out, try some of these toning exercises, smile and you’re sure to rock your bikini no matter what!

Dolce & Gabbana's Latest Runway Show is an Adorable Tribute to Motherhood

From Joan Didion and Céline to Joni Mitchell and Saint Laurent, the fashion industry has lately been showing some major love to women of all walks of life—and Sunday’s Dolce & Gabbana presentation was another step in the right direction. The Fall/Winter 2015 presentation at Milan Fashion Week featured babies (yes, babies on the runway!) and their mothers, in what was fashion’s ultimate homage to motherhood.

The collection, aptly titled, “Viva la Mamma,” featured an impressive nearly 90 looks, many of which were tributes to motherhood, with several dresses printed with children’s doodles or embroidered with the phrase “I love you mama” in several languages. The tribute to motherhood didn’t stop there, though. Many of the model moms walked the runway with babies in their arms, and Binaca Balti, a D&G muse, even walked the runway pregnant!

While this isn’t the first time that a pregnant model has walked the runway (remember Chanel’s pregnant bride at the F/W 2014 couture show?) this show was major for plenty of other reasons. Not only was it obviously SO adorable, but it focused on women outside of what the fashion industry typically spotlights (aka women who aren’t super tall, thin and young). The stereotype of motherhood when it comes to fashion is often that style tends to go by the wayside in exchange for practicality. However, the Dolce & Gabbana show highlighted that mothers don’t have to be stereotypically frumpy—and that it is in fact possible to be a super stylish and glamorous mom!

While this show was definitely a step in the right direction, it’s also worth noting that it also proves the fashion industry still has a ways to go in terms of featuring all women. Many critics were quick to point out that, while it was wonderful to see mothers featured and celebrated in the show, the Dolce & Gabbana runway still remained one of the least diverse runways of the season—a pattern many have been seeing with the house for some time now. Next season, it would be great to see if Dolce & Gabbana take this step in the right direction even further by featuring an even wider range of women on the catwalk!

Were you as obsessed with the adorable babies on the Dolce & Gabbana runway as we were, collegiettes?
