Everyone’s favorite heartthrob, Shawn Mendes, has just premiered the music video for his latest single “In My Blood,” and it’s everything we could have ever hoped for.

The 19-year old Canadian singer dropped “In My Blood” along with his second single “Lost in Japan” in March, both of which are rumored to be on his upcoming album. Although the date of the album’s release has not been announced, this video is definitely enough to hold fans over.

"In My Blood" is simple and powerful, with overhead shots of Mendes lying in an empty room singing as rain, snow and rocks cascade down around him. After the darkness of the elements fades away, they’re replaced with sunshine and lush flowers as Mendes is cleansed from his inner turmoil.

In the video, Mendes is "fighting literal and figurative storms,” according to Rolling Stone. The singer himself is the centerpiece of the video, with little else to distract from his strong voice and powerful lyrics.

The video is beautiful, moving and exciting. If you haven’t seen it yet, make your day a little better and watch it below:

It's the most wonderful time of the year... That's right. It's music festival season. As Coachella passes by and makes way for other music festivals to make their debut, iHeartRadio is gearing up to kick off the summer with its annual Wango Tango festival, in partnership with AT&T. Taking place at the brand new Banc of California Stadium in sunny Los Angeles, iHeartRadio's Wango Tango will be the first concert to break-in the venue.

Ryan Seacrest will be hosting Wango Tango 2018, and the list of performances include a ton of your faves, from Ariana Grande to Shawn Mendes, Miguel, and more. Now, if you're not able to snag tix and make it out in person, don't worry! ATT.com is going to be exclusively livestreaming the event for fans nationwide. Additionally, Freeform is set to broadcast an exclusive 90-minute TV special on Sunday, June 3rd at 8pm ET/PT. The all-day music festival is going to be something that no one will ever forget, and iHeartRadio wants to make sure that everyone gets a chance to experience it.

"We're excited to take this iconic summer kick-off event to a national level as we partner with today's top artists, and for the first time ever, livestream the entire show with AT&T, and broadcast the event on iHeartRadio stations nationwide and through a can't-miss television special on Freeform, June 3," John Ivey, President of CHR Programming Strategies for iHeartMedia and KIIS FM, said in a statement.

Having grown up in Southern California with family who actually worked for iHeartRadio and other radio stations, I grew up going to Wango Tango my entire life! This all-day festival is now 20 years old—that's a whole two decades—and coincidentally, my age. It was always my favorite time of year, and some of the best performances that I've seen have included artists like Kanye West, Calvin Harris, and Justin Bieber. Going to Wango Tango definitely made summers feel like summer—happy, warm, bright, and fun.

After the passing of her dog Ted two years ago, it seems Gina Rodriguez is finally ready to get another pup.

TMZ reports that the Jane the Virgin actress was spotted at Citipups in NYC on Sunday, along with her dog Casper, visiting a bright-eyed, fuzzy-faced Havanese puppy. Rodriguez had reportedly visited Citipups before to check out the adorable 9-week-old pup but wanted to make sure he and Casper would be a right match. It seems the two got along just fine because per TMZ, the Chicago native cashed in $2,500 for the little guy.

The unnamed Havanese puppy will reportedly join his new family sometime this week, after he's fully recovered from being neutered, which took place on Monday. This is really good news for Casper, who's probably been a bit lonely, with Gina spending most of her time on set.

What an awesome little blessing! I can't wait to see all the Instagram pictures that she's going to post of her new pup.

You can take your first peek at Gina's newest family member here.

Kim Kardashian Was Almost on MTV's 'Real World'& I'm Not Even Surprised

In a recent interview with Business of Fashion, Kim Kardashian West recalls the time she almost applied to be on MTV's Real World.

Long before Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim spent her days working for her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., and admits that even back then she had dreams of becoming famous.

"I had worked in my dad's office for so many years, but I didn't have a career and I didn't love college. I went [for] four years but I didn’t graduate. I just sat there and I was like, 'What am I going to do?'" she said. "When I was really young I always was—it's the weirdest thing, but I loved Real World. And I would say to my best friend's dad who was a manager, 'You should be my manager! And when we're 18, I'm going to send a tape into Real World because I have to be on a reality show.'"

"Like, that's it! It clicked," she continued. "This is what I want to do. And then the producers that produced Real World produced [KUWTK], so it kind of all came full circle."

As Kardashian fans may know, KUWTK wasn’t Kim's first exposure to the world of reality TV. During her journey to fame and fortune, she appeared on The Simple Life, which starred Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, as Hilton's assistant and once appeared on MTV’s The Hills.

Now we don't know whether Kim would have become more famous had she starred on Real World, but with her current state of fame and fortune, I'm assuming she's pretty happy with the way everything turned out.

The University Of Toledo Posted A Twitter Challenge To Change Their Mascot To Shrek & The Internet Went Ogre-Board

The University of Toledo introduced a challenge to their Twitter followers on Tuesday morning – sparking tons of attention, excitement, and outrage. The challenge? Help a picture of Shrek get 500,000 retweets and the university would change their mascot to the beloved green ogre.

Twitter quickly exploded, with the photo having over 90,000 retweets and counting until the tweet was deleted later in the afternoon. Apparently, Twitter had taken the challenge a bit too seriously.

The school’s media relations specialist, Christine Billau, dispelled the rumors and revealed the tweet as being a fun gimmick the school’s social media was trying out.

“We are definitely not changing the school mascot to Shrek,” Billau told USA Today Sports. “The tweet was meant to be fun, but it caused too much of a distraction.”

Apparently, the tweet was in line with a series of funny jokes and memes the school’s social media team had been posting to increase engagement. Twitter didn’t think so.

Billau also said that if the tweet reached its goal, the school would do something fun with their current mascot, Rocky the Rocket. With the tweet now deleted, those plans are unclear. In the meantime, the Internet is having a blast with the now blown up joke.

A High Schooler From Florida Had A Really Messed Up, Racist Promposal Sign & It Points To A Larger Problem

A Riverview High School senior from Sarasota, FL is facing lash back after posting a picture of his racist Snapchat promposal over the weekend, the Tampa Bay Times reports. The student is currently being investigated by the Sarasota County School District in response to his racist post.

The Snapchat post in question showed the student holding a poster that says, “If I was black I’d be picking cotton, but I’m white so I’m picking U 4 prom.” District officials rightfully called the post racist and said that action will be taken to educate students on race relations.

The district released their official statement on Monday: "Although this message is one student’s opinion, we take the matter of racial relations and school safety seriously, and we look forward to working with our students and these outside groups to have a meaningful and informative dialogue and expanded curriculum related to this important national topic."

As officials continue their investigation on Crowley and his post, they are holding themselves to the school discussions on race. The district has reached out to various community leaders on race relations, including experts from Sarasota’s chapter of the NAACP.

Trevor Harvey, the president of Sarasota’s chapter of NAACP, said that the district has been proactive in providing counselors and other professionals to the student body. Harvey added that although these actions reflect well on the district, the overall message may be getting muffled.

"I don’t want the main point to be lost: The district [must] make the student body aware that they will not accept this kind of behavior,” said Harvey. “We can have all the conversations we want, but if there is no action, then we are not really doing anything productive."

According to students from Riverview High School, the issue does not start with Crowley. One student at the school detailed the racial issues that the school has reportedly faced for weeks in a Facebook post, writing: “They’re letting these kids walk freely around expressing racism." She added that part of the problem has been suspending victims of this racism due to ignorance by the staff and administration of the school.

Though the administration counters that those allegations aren’t true. District spokeswoman Tracy Beeker said, “this doesn’t happen every day,” and claimed that the district is always willing to listen to the concerns of their students. With community and school-wide conversations, the district’s goal is to take a step towards more acceptance and understanding of racial issues.

Crowley is still waiting for the district's actionable response to his racist promposal and has issued an apology: “I want to sincerely apologize if I have offended anyone with the picture going around. That was not my intention. Anyone who knows me... knows that that’s not how we truly feel,” he said, according to WTSP 10 News.

7 Ways to Stay Organized While On the Job Hunt

$

Finding a job is hard no matter how you look at it. Whether you’re applying for a summer job at your favorite store or applying to your first ‘grown-up’ job, applications can get overwhelming. No two applications are going to be the same, and even if you are applying to jobs in the same field chances are that applications will be asking for different information and documents. Staying organized while on the job hunt is crucial, so we talked to Tom Dezell, author of Networking for the Novice, Nervous, or Naïve Job Seeker, to get some great tips on just how you can do so!

1. Be clear on what you're looking for

Work starts before you even begin applying to jobs. Be specific on what kind of job you are looking for. If you just start applying to random jobs that sort of fit your criteria you are going to get confused by what kind of career you want to focus on, convoluting the whole process even more. “Make clear definitions on the types of jobs you want to apply for,” says. Dezell. “Categorize companies you would like to consider working at, and identify people you know, or have friends who know them, in the fields or companies you want to work in.” If you have no idea what you want to do, start big and narrow down your choices with questions. Do you want to work in an office or be more mobile? Do you want to work in the business world, in the creative world, in the science world? Where do you want to be located? Talk to role models in your life and find out about their careers so that you can start looking for jobs that are right for you.

2. Don't only focus on job boards

According to Dezell, job boards and site only list about 20 percent of jobs currently available, and you face the largest competition when you apply through them. Instead, he says you should “find ways to connect to companies on your wish list through LinkedIn. Another developing trend is for companies to have community pages for interested potential employees. Find and participate in those.”

Keep track of what you use to apply to a job; if it’s a job site, make sure you pay attention to emails from that site. If it’s through a different server, keep track of the different ones you are using by writing them down somewhere.

3. Be smart about using job sites

Job sites can be a great resource if you are trying to figure out what kind of job you are looking for, but there are thousands of job listings posted there that may not apply to you or to what you want, so be careful when using them.

“Create very specific, detailed criteria for the jobs you want shown to you when you set up any job site to send you job alerts,” says Dezell. “Too often, job seekers begin such a string with a few general job titles with little detail on location, skills and the like. Limited filters result in one’s inbox becoming deluged with high volumes of jobs to sort through. The more specific your details on the types of jobs you want to see, not only will that shorten the list of jobs you’ll be sent, but also make what you receive better matches.”

As soon as you sign up for a job site you’ll start getting emails with job listings that you may be interested in. If these listings don’t match your criteria, stop using that site. Receiving hundreds of listings that you won’t bother with will only clutter your inbox, making it harder to find the jobs you are actually interested in.

4. Label everything

This may seem self-explanatory but it is so important! The worst thing you can do when applying for a job is send in a cover letter addressed to a different company, or a resume that is tailored to another field. Label your documents with clear and specific names. When you’re writing a cover letter, put the name of the company that it is for in the title of the document. If you need writing samples or a portfolio, attach your last name to every document in it. If you have more than one resume, be crystal clear about what is different between them so that you don’t have to scramble to figure out which one you need for a particular job. This will save you time and the humiliation of having to email a company and tell them you attached the wrong file.

5. Keep everything in the same place

Much like labeling correctly, keeping all of your documents and information in the same place will save you so much time and stress. Whether you use Google Drive, Microsoft Word, or some other word processor, keep all your documents in corresponding folders so that you’re not desperately combing through your desktop trying to find what you need. Keep a physical folder ready for when you receive a business card or a paper application as well as a place to keep hard copies of your resume. If you’re the type of person that prefers hard copies all around you can also keep a separate folders or print-outs and copies of completed job applications. Dezell suggested using the website jibberjobber.com, which will track your contacts and follow up dates. Write down dates and deadlines in a planner or calendar so you know when to submit an application, send a thank-you note, or inquire about a follow-up.

Spreadsheets are good for everything, especially keeping track of job applications. “I use a Google Excel sheet to keep track of all the jobs I apply to,” says Ebony Joseuph, an alumna of the University of Florida. “I make a note of when I applied, the original job posting, who I know there (if I have any contacts), when to follow up, etc… It’s really helpful to have it all in one place!” Spreadsheets are super easy to follow, and you can add categories that you feel are important for you to remember.

6. Create a master resume

This is a great tip given by Dezell. “Complete a giant master resume that lists ALL activities at each job and school. This allows you to select the most appropriate parts of this to send targeted resumes out to each specific job.”

This is especially useful if you are qualified for several different fields and are applying to different kinds of jobs. Listing out everything you have done allows you to quickly pick and choose what you want to highlight for each job. It will save you a ton of time and ensure that you aren’t blanking on something important that you should include.

7. Always triple-check

Again, this might sound like common sense but takes so little time and will save your life while applying. Triple-check everything before you send it in, even if you’re sure that it’s a resume or cover letter you’ve used before. Typos and incorrect information are a sign to hiring managers that you don’t pay attention to detail or care that much about your job search. Make sure you are sending along the right attachments and files and that you are sending them to the right place. Taking thirty seconds to re-check your work is better than the anxiety that comes with knowing you messed something up in the application.

Nonetheless, don’t let the pressure of applying to jobs take its toll on you! Making a few small changes in organization will make your life so much easier and make the job search so much more manageable, leaving you better prepared to kick some butt out in the real world.

Trump Administration's New Teen Pregnancy Prevention Guidelines Want To Call Sex A 'Risk' Despite Plenty Of Research Side-Eyeing 'Abstinence-Only' Education

Late last week Buzzfeed Newsreported that President Donald Trump’s new government-sponsored Teen Pregnancy Prevention Programs will favor abstinence-only education, and compares the ‘risk’ of sex to things like drug use or not wearing a seatbelt.

This comes as the administration completely overhauls the Obama-era grants that tried to move away from the abstinence-only approach. In order to receive government funding, programs muse focus on “sexual risk avoidance” and “sexual risk education,” Buzzfeed reported.

This new grant ends the Obama-era ones two years early, Teen Vogue adds. The Trump administration says that they plan to continue the grants, but they want to make sure that abstinence is the priority.

The guidelines for the grant said that abstinence-based education was the “natural approach for an emphasis on sexual delay,” according to Teen Vogue.

Notably, abstinence-only education has been tied to increased teen pregnancy rates and there is no professional peer-review journal that found this type of sex ed to be effective.

According to the Guttmacher Institute, a sexual health research organization, "programs that promote abstinence-only-until-marriage—now termed 'sexual risk avoidance' by proponents—have been described as 'scientifically and ethically problematic.' They systematically ignore or stigmatize many young people and do not meet their health needs... Proponents of 'sexual risk avoidance' programs have appropriated the terms 'medically accurate' and 'evidence-based,' though experts in the field agree that such programs are neither complete in their medical accuracy nor based on the widely accepted body of scientific evidence."

Additionally, Guttmacher notes that comprehensive sex education programs "that include information about both contraception and abstinence help young people to delay sex, and also to have healthy relationships and avoid STDs and unintended pregnancies when they do become sexually active. Many of these programs have resulted in delayed sexual debut, reduced frequency of sex and number of sexual partners, increased condom or contraceptive use, or reduced sexual risk-taking."

Marvel Comics' Editor-in-Chief Stan Lee Has Been Accused of Sexual Misconduct

A massage therapist has accused Marvel Comics’ editor-in-chief Stan Lee of sexual misconduct for allegedly grabbing and harassing her during a massage appointment last year, ABC News reports.

Maria Carballo, the massage therapist, has named Lee, 95, and his former assistant Mac “Max” Anderson, who set up the massage appointments, in the lawsuit. Carballo has accused Lee of assault, battery, emotional distress and violation of the Illinois Gender Violence Act, The Huffington Post reports. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Carballo is seeking $50,000 in damages.

The lawsuit states that Carballo was hired to perform a massage at Lee’s hotel on April 27, 2017 while he was in Chicago for the annual C2E2 comic expo, HuffPost reports. Carballo said that during the massage Lee “began to fondle himself” while on the table and began moaning while she was performing the massage. She said that she immediately ended the massage appointment, according to the lawsuit.

The following day, Carballo said that her boss requested that she return to Lee’s hotel to perform another massage, ABC News reports. Despite her reluctance to do so, her boss insisted, and she agreed to out of fear of losing her job.

According to HuffPost, during the second massage Lee began to moan again, and Carballo attempted to end the session. When Lee insisted she continue, she agreed, but switched to a shiatsu massage method, which utilizes the massage therapist’s feet, in order to keep her distance, The Chicago Tribune reports. The lawsuit states that “Lee [then] grabbed [Carballo’s] foot and moved it against his penis and scrotum.” She immediately ended the session.

Carballo said that she was afraid to come forward, in fear that it would affect her job, particularly with Lee’s wealth and status.

“For a long time, I was afraid to ask anyone to help me hold Mr. Lee accountable for how he treated me. He is rich and famous. I am not. After seeing other women fight to be treated with dignity and respect, I decided, ‘Me too,’” Carballo stated. “I am still nervous and afraid, but not as much as I was before because I have other people helping me.”

According to The Chicago Tribune, Lee, through his attorney, Jonathan Freund, denied the allegations, and Freund said that Lee was shocked by the allegations.

“He is a high-profile public figure and I think it’s a shakedown,” Freund told The Chicago Tribune. “The guy is 95, I don’t think he would do that.”

The Dallas Police Department is currently searching for a man who shot two officers, as well as a loss prevention officer, at a Home Depot, ABC News reports.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall told reporters during a press conference that the police department is searching for 29-year-old Armando Luis Juárez in connection with the shooting, CNN reports. The suspect fled the scene in a white Ford pickup truck.

Hall said that Juárez is considered dangerous, and the police department is unaware of “how he was able to get a gun and shoot all three of the victims.”

According to the police chief, 911 dispatchers received a call to go to Home Depot around 4:12 p.m. local time. She added that once the responding officers arrived, another called was made for further assistance.

Two police officers were critically wounded during the shooting, according to a Twitter post by the police department. The officers were transported by the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department to the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where, according to Hall, they are receiving the “best care possible.”

Hall, according to CNN, asked the community for their thoughts and prayers for the injured officers.

“I want to ask each and every one of you for your prayers...for our officers, for their families and for our entire DPD family, because we need you right now,” Hall said. “Our hearts are very heavy.”

A civilian who was a loss prevention officer at Home Depot was also injured during the shooting, but his or her condition is unknown at this time.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings tweeted after the shooting: “We are closely monitoring the situation in northeast Dallas and praying for our officers and their families.”

Ramen noodles have a special place in every college student’s heart. Whether it’s your go-to drunk food or cheapest meal of the week, ramen has surely proven its importance to you at one time or another. This salty dish definitely isn’t the most nutritious—and after a while it can taste pretty bland—but that’s why we’re excited to share some easy ways to spice up your meal!

1. Add lime, garlic powder & sour cream

This may seem like an odd suggestion, but Chelsea Jackson, a junior at Iowa State University says it’s a must. “I am obsessed with adding lime, garlic powder and sour cream to my chicken flavored ramen,” she says. “Granted, I also add lime to pretty much everything. But I feel like adding sour cream to any chicken-flavored soup makes it very filling and comforting.” Comfort and flavor all in one? Yes, please.

2. Toss in some vegetables

Why not add a touch of health to your noodles? Make it stir fry style without the broth or add pre-cooked veggies directly into your soup dish. Some common additions are kale, cabbage, scallions, snow peas or even chopped peppers! Here’s a recipe for inspiration.

3. Add buffalo sauce

Ashley Brooks, a senior at Emmanuel College, says this is a great idea for spicy food lovers. “At first I was told to put buffalo sauce in my ramen when I was sick to help clear up my sinuses,” she says. “I ended up enjoying it so much though that I still add it casually and highly recommend it. You can also use sriracha or tabasco sauce!”

4. Add bacon and eggs

Who doesn’t love breakfast food? Add cooked bacon and hard-boiled eggs to your ramen to make it suitable for any meal. Check out this recipe!

5. Make your own broth

“I revamp my ramen by only using the noodles and then making my own broth,” says Holly Zeppieri, a student at Lesley University. “My favorite type of dish includes sesame oil, soy sauce, chicken broth, garlic and onions, mushrooms, and I always top it off with a hard-boiled egg!” There are endless types of broth to make in substitution for the flavor packet provided. Here’s one recipe that does just that!

6. Sprinkle some cheese on it

The heat of the ramen will almost instantly melt the cheese, giving it a creamy flavor once you mix it in. This is definitely an easy way to add flavor, especially if you try out different types to find your favorite. Plus, who doesn’t love cheese? Try this easy recipe!

7. Add peanut butter

A spoonful of peanut butter is an equally loved snack like ramen, so why not combine the two? The nutty flavor will feel like Asian cuisine, especially if you add sesame seeds as well. Try it out for yourself by following this recipe.

We hope you give these ramen hacks a try! Your friends will surely be asking you to cook dinner for them from now on if you do. Enjoy!

Good morning, Her Campus! With a break-neck news cycle, there is no possible way for you to stay on top of every story that comes across your feeds—we’re all only human, after all.

But, life comes at you fast. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for this quick and dirty guide to stories you might’ve been sleeping on (like, literally. It’s early.)

President Trump Hosts First State Dinner

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted their first state dinner, in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron, Tuesday evening, ABC News reports.

The president and first lady welcomed the guests of honor, Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, on the steps of the White House North Portico, exchanging cheek kisses and posing for photos.

The state dinner, served in the formal State Dining Room, featured an extravagant menu with dishes created by White House Executive Chef Christeta Comerford planned to “showcase of the best of America’s cuisines and traditions, with nuances of French influences,” and wines meant to “complement the menu and embody the historic friendship between the United States and France,” ABC News reports.

During the dinner, Trump and Macron celebrated the friendship and alliance between the United States and France.

“May our friendship grow even deeper, may our kinship grow even stronger, and may our sacred liberty never die,” Trump said, calling the occasion a celebration “of the nearly two-and-a-half centuries of friendship between two countries.”

Macron expressed the same sentiments, and commented on the strong ties between the two countries, along with a joke at Great Britain’s expense.

“This White House so full of history, that the British burned down in 1815, and I say this in the most amicable way, and that James Monroe then had the brilliant idea of decorating in French furniture, a man of taste, in fact, he was a former ambassador to Paris,” Macron said.

Other guests on the 130-person guest list included: Apple CEO Tim Cook, who brought former Obama EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson as a guest; statesman Henry Kissinger; Chief Justice John Roberts; media mogul Rupert Murdoch; Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund; Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH group which owns Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Dior; and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

According to ABC News, the state dinner was part of a larger itinerary of events on Tuesday to celebrate Macron. Macron and his wife were welcomed Tuesday morning at the White House with a traditional military arrival ceremony, including a 21-gun salute.

White House Doctor Will Not Withdraw From His VA Nomination

After President Trump said that his Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Nominee, White House Doctor Ronny Jackson, should step aside, Jackson has announced that he will not be withdrawing as the nominee for VA Secretary, The Huffington Post reports.

Trump had called Jackson “a fine man” and a “great doctor, great everything,” but did not want to put Jackson through such a damaging political process.

“I wouldn't – if I were him, actually in many ways I'd love to be him, but the fact is I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it,” Trump said during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.

“What does he need it for? To be abused by a bunch of politicians that aren't thinking nicely about our country? I really don't think personally he should do it, but it's totally his. I would stand behind him. Totally his decision,” Trump added.

Hours later, White House Director for Legislative Affairs Marc Short told ABC News that Trump will be “defending” Jackson after Trump met with Jackson Tuesday afternoon.

However, Jackson is currently facing some scrutiny by the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee as it reviews what its calling “serious allegations” regarding Jackson. According to ABC News, it is alleged that Jackson created a hostile work environment and improperly gave out medication — specifically sleep aid Ambien — as a White House physician.

The Trump administration has said that the hostile work environment stemmed from tension between Jackson and another doctor in the White House Medical Unit, but once the issue was resolved, the environment and morale greatly improved, ABC News reports.

“Dr. Jackson’s record as a White House physician is impeccable,” a senior administration official said. “He has improved unit morale, received glowing reviews and promotions under Republican and Democrat presidents, and has been given a clean vet from the FBI. He has never even been the subject of an Inspector General review and he will certainly not be railroaded by a bitter ex-colleague who was removed from his job.”

Jackson has said that he will fights these allegations that surfaced prior to his Senate confirmation hearing, HuffPost reports.

Senate Veterans Affairs Committee leaders announced on Tuesday that they are postponing the scheduled Wednesday confirmation hearing as they continue to look into these allegations, ABC News reports.

Bob Dorough, Famous “Schoolhouse Rock!” Songwriter, Dies at 94

If you’re like me and grew up watching “Schoolhouse Rock!” to learn about how a bill becomes law or what a conjunction’s function is, then today is a sad day. Bob Dorough, the beloved songwriter behind famous “Schoolhouse Rock!” hits “I’m Just a Bill,” “Conjunction Junction” and “The Shot Heard ’Round the World,” passed away at the age of 94, Newsday reports.

Originally a jazz musician, Dorough “set the multiplication tables to music” as the musical director for the educational program from 1973 to 1985.

Born in Arkansas and raised in Texas, Dorough first began to play music in his high school band, and later joined the Special Services Army Band Unit in 1943, where he served during World War II, Newsday reports.

After the war he earned his music degree from the University of North Texas, and moved to New York City to pursue a career in jazz music.

Dorough “stumbled into [the “Schoolhouse Rock!”] gig” in 1971 after he was approached by an advertising executive.

According to Newsday, Dorough still played his “Schoolhouse Rock!” hits in his live shows as recent as 2016.

During an interview, Dorough had said about the educational program: “We had a captive audience — every Saturday, kids were eating cereal and watching cartoons, and some of them found ‘Schoolhouse Rock!’ and got stuck on it,” he said. “If it were up to me, it would last forever, because there’s always kids.”

I am grateful for the musical contributions that Mr. Dorough made, as his song “I’m Just a Bill” made me become more interested in law and politics, and encouraged me to get a degree in political science.

He taught and inspired generations of young children with his music.

What to look out for...

So there's rumors floating around about a possible all-female Marvel movie? I don't know about you, but I would be so down for this!

How to Quit Your Job Like an Adult

Whether you’ve been offered the job of your dreams or you’re just ready to move on, leaving your job is never as simple as just giving two weeks notice. There are a lot of layers to separating from a company, and honestly, we need to talk about it. Navigating the seemingly awkward conversation of quitting a job can seem intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Here are some tips to leave your job in a professional #adult way, while staying true to yourself and your values.

1. Be honest

Career psychologist and counselor Eileen Sharaga says when it comes your professional reputation, honesty is the best policy.

“Many people view quitting a job as confrontation but it doesn’t have to be," Sharaga says. "If you are leaving because you want to go to grad school say that. If you feel you want to try a different career path, say that. Your boss may be able to help you make contacts in your new field, or could help you transfer internally if you work for a large company.”

If you are having familial or health issues, it's totally okay to take some time away. Don't be ashamed to discuss what's affecting your personal life. Who knows, your employer may offer a flexible or remote work schedule to accommodate you, but you'd never know if you weren't honest.

If you are leaving because you're simply unhappy or feel like you'd have better opportunities elsewhere, don’t be afraid to express that either.

Lindsay Jean Louis, University of Georgia grad, says when she left her job as a digital media coordinator, she kept conversation was “short and sweet.”

“It’s probably best to keep it short so you don’t go on a rant that may make you look bad,” Lindsay says.

If you think the conversation may upset you or cause you to act in an unprofessional manner, keeping it short may be your best option. Remember, you are not required to tell your boss (or anyone) where you are going or if you have another job lined up.  While being transparent may make the transition easier, your reasons for leaving are for you, and you alone, and don't require external validation.

2.  Say thank you

Being gracious is a major key. Even if you’re leaving because you're absolutely miserable, remember at one point you wanted this job and your employers gave you that opportunity instead of choosing another candidate.

“Try not to burn your bridges under any circumstances. Maintain a good relationship and you maintain a good reference,” says Sharaga.

And in case you were wondering, yes, two weeks is still the standard time frame to give notice, though depending on your role and responsibilities you may want to give more.

Michelle Neeley, University of Florida class of 2016, says she left her consulting job because of the toxic environment, but still gave two weeks notice because she knew she may run into her former boss or need a recommendation one day.

“Despite the problems I had with the company, I knew I would still have to work with my former boss and other coworkers at my new company so I definitely didn’t want to leave on bad terms,” she says.

“If you are working on big project, you may want to complete it before you leave," Sharaga recommends. That way you made sure you made good on your commitment to the job and can leave on better terms.”

Pro-tip: Before you say your final goodbyes, consider sending your boss a hand written thank-you note. You can give them to your entire team if you'd like. It's a simple and thoughtful way to show your gratitude, plus you don't have to worry about what you might say when put on the spot.

3. Know yourself and your values

Career consultant and executive coach Maggie Mistal says it's important to know what your ideal job looks like to make sure your career decisions are in line with what you really want. She shares this work values exercise with her clients, to help them understand what drives them and how to channel those passions into a career.

"Discovering your work values takes a bit of soul searching," Mistal says. "Think about what motivates you. What gets you out of bed in the morning? What kind of work are you good at and enjoy doing? "

Whether you are moving across the country because you need a change of environment or are going back to school because you've realized you want to enter a new field, knowing your motivators can help confirm that you've made the right choice, and express to your employer why you've made the decision to leave.

4. Be prepared for a counter offer

Your boss may offer you a promotion or raise in hopes of getting you to stay, but is that really want you want? This is where knowing your work values can really come into play.

Maggie Mistal says not be swayed by money or a title if you know deep down you will not be happy with the work.

“Some people may think a big pay raise or promotion means of course they will be happier, but that’s not always true.”

However, if you value money and power more than the functional aspects of the job, then a counter offer may be worth considering.

When Kelsey Thibodeau, 24, told her manager she received another job, she says her boss tried everything from intimidation to offering a promotion to make her stay.

“[When I] told her I felt it was time to move on and that I had gotten a new job at a new restaurant, she became immediately defensive, asking a handful of questions that had the undertone of bullying me into staying,” Kelsey says. “When I explained that I wanted to move up and I didn’t have the opportunity there with them, she offered me a daytime manager position within a couple days of me putting in my notice. I turned it down.”

If you think there is a possibility you could be convinced to stay, go into the conversation knowing exactly what you want as far as title, work duties and compensation. This is probably your last chance to negotiate if that's something you're interested in. If you've already decided there's no chance you'll stay, politely tell your boss that you've made your decision and are sticking to it.

5. And probably paperwork

Telling your boss may be the first part of leaving your job, but there are many more steps between saying “I quit” and turning in your badge. In addition to a sit-down conversation, some employers may require you to submit a formal letter of resignation for the company to keep on file. If your job provided benefits like insurance or paid vacation, they may also require you to have an exit interview with HR to discuss why you are leaving and when those benefits end.

For example, how would you withdraw money from your 401k? Do you have any company stock? If you are enrolled in your employer's health insurance, you may be able to hang on to your company plan for a while after you leave. You could even receive compensation for unused paid time off. Make sure you have the answers to these questions and more before you walk out on your last day.

6. Breathe

As nerve-wracking as quitting your job may seem, remember that you are moving on because you feel it’s the best choice for you. Saying good bye may be tough, but you should feel empowered knowing that you made the right decision. Onward and upward!

The perfect present for your pickle-loving friend is here: Pickle forks are now available, and they are surprisingly useful. For whatever reason, pickles are one of those foods that some people are just obsessed with. There are so many pickle-themed gifts for fans of this snack, from pickle-shaped bandages to pickle lip balm.

However, while all of those gifts are quirky and thoughtful, the pickle fork reaches another level of usefulness.

The fork allows you to get a pickle out of the jar without any struggle—never again do you need to get your hands dirty! A strap will conveniently hold your fork to the pickle bottle so that you are never caught in a sticky, pickle-briney conversation.

As for why you couldn’t just use a normal fork, this is a little bit unclear. Amazon claims that this product stops you from “constantly dirtying utensils” too. So, hey, why not give it a shot? You have nothing to lose. Amazon is currently selling them for $5.75, so skip a coffee or two this week and invest in your pickle-loving side.

They come in two different colors, so take your pick, attach it to your pickles and you will never have to smell like pickle juice again.

Lindsay Lohan Will Return For 'Life-Size 2'& My Childhood Nostalgia is REAL

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly making a comeback in the sequel to one of the best movies from our childhood.

Tyra Banks was a guest on Steve Harvey this week, where she confirmed that Lohan would take part in the upcoming Life-Size 2. "Lindsay Lohan will... be in Life-Size 2, yes! Yes, I really, really want her to," she said. "We’re talking about it right now and she has got to come back!"

Banks told Buzzfeed earlier this month that she and Lohan had been keeping in touch through DMs. "I was like, 'Yo, I'm producing Life-Size 2 are you down?' And she was like, 'I'm down to the down.' Like, she's so down! So, we're working on the script now and I'm telling the writer I don't want her to just have a cameo. I feel like she was just as important to Life-Size 1 as I was, so I want her to have a role, at least three or four scenes. I think she would play herself grown up—like, Casey in Life-Size grown up. So, we'll see!"

Rumors of aLife-Size sequel were confirmed in 2015 when Disney began development on the project, which is slated to air on Freeform. Banks, who is an executive producer on the film, told Variety in December 2015, "There is no one else that can play Eve but me, thank you very much! I’m just joking with you, but yes, I am going to be Eve."

Lohan starred in the original Disney Channel film, Life-Sizeback in 2000 alongside the supermodel. The film centers on a young girl named Casey (Lindsay Lohan) who is struggling after the death of her mom. On her birthday, her dad gifts her with a doll named Eve (Tyra Banks). Casey does a spell for her mom to come back to life by using hair from her mom's hairbrush, but instead, Eve comes to life. Angry at Eve for benefiting the spell, Casey at first is hesitant to be kind, but ultimately, her and Eve learn a lot from each other and have laughs along the way as Eve navigates human life.

I am so excited for this sequel! Now, I just need Tyra to recreate that famous typing scene

Grab Your Friends & Roadtrip To This Nightmare Abandoned 'Wizard of Oz' Theme Park This Summer

A long time ago, during a time called the 70s, there was once a theme park built in North Carolina. It was nestled into a mountain with a long yellow brick road snaking through the terrain: There were homes of Munchkins brimming with flowers and a wicked witch's castle looming over visitors. It wasn't Oz, but it was as close visitors could get.

In the 80s, the famously failed park dedicated to the L. Frank Baum book and well beloved 1939 film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz sat abandoned, falling into a state of decay. It had suffered a massive fire in 1975 that destroyed its Emerald City and the original dress worn by Judy Garland in the film and didn't quite recover. Over time, it became reserved mostly for hikers who had stumbled upon it or enthusiasts who intentionally wound their way up the yellow brick road to take photos.

Now, however, as The Land of Oz has gained more traction in the last few years and has sparked interest, Vice reports that the park will open its gates for six days this summer for "immersive tours."

Vice continues, "In its heyday, the Land of Oz featured a replica of Dorothy's Kansas farmhouse and a barn that housed a petting zoo, singing and dancing actors who portrayed Dorothy and her friends, a gift shop, restaurant, and live show that was performed every half hour, and a ski lift with cars that looked like hot air balloons, which would ferry visitors back to the 'real world.'"

Now, according to the park's website, you can take one of those immersive tours through the park. "Journey with Dorothy" asks visitors to drop everything and remember the magic of their childhood as Dorothy takes them "down the yellow brick road into the magical land of Oz to help her search for the wonderful wizard during this interactive experience.”

Guests may even be called upon to act out scenes from the movie as the tour makes stops! Guests are also encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters as they sing down the famed yellow brick road.  The park will be open for tours every Friday in June as well as Saturday June 30. Tickets are $25 per person. More information can be found here.

12 Ways to Practice Self-Care During Finals

$

Finals week: the end of the semester is in sight, the weather is finally warming up and summer is just around the corner. All that’s left is a week or so of intense stress, long days and nights packed with studying and far too much caffeine. Finals and stress go together like The Bachelor and drama, and often we tell ourselves nothing is more important than acing that last test. But on the way to success, we sometimes sacrifice taking care of ourselves, assuring ourselves self-care is a luxury we can’t afford to think about at a time like this. However, self-care is essential to performing well on finals. If we feel our best, we can study and test our best.

Here are a few ways to take care of yourself during finals week so you can walk into your test feeling confident and focused and walk out knowing you did awesome.

1. Keep up your normal self-care routines

Often during the busy finals season simple things like showering become luxuries that we convince ourselves we don’t need. In the end, however, those 15 minutes that we “save” just hurt us later on.

“Some women skip basic beauty habits like washing their hair, telling themselves they have no time for such things during finals,” says Beverly Hills psychiatrist and author Carole Lieberman, M.D. “And, although you can skip spending hours doing your makeup, you will waste time feeling bad about yourself if you don’t keep up the basics.”

Keep your normal hygiene routines up, and you’ll feel better all around. Plus, your study mates will probably thank you.

2. Eat nutritiously

Eating well nourishes both your body and mind. According to Lieberman, the time you think you save for studying by grabbing junk food from the machines instead of going to the cafeteria can actually hurt you in the long run.

“Don’t eat terrible food and blame it on finals,” says Darby Pedersen, a freshman at the University of Missouri.

Getting proper nutrients will help your brain function effectively and will keep you full and satisfied so you aren’t distracted by a grumbling stomach while studying.

3. Get adequate amounts of sleep

Sleep: the ultimate collegiate luxury. It seems we can never get enough—even during the regular school year—no matter how hard we try. But once finals week hits? Forget about it.

“The biggest thing is to not change your sleep schedule too much,” Darby says. “If you usually go to bed at midnight, don’t suddenly start going to bed at 3 a.m.”

Our peers convince us we don’t need sleep, and it’s almost like a competition to see who can stay up the latest to study. However, according to Katrina Conrad, assistant director for student well-being at the University of Notre Dame, pulling all-nighters is one of the biggest mistakes students make. “Getting the appropriate amount of sleep is critical for memory consolidation,” says Conrad. “Therefore, if you're cutting your sleep, you could be adding a barrier to your own learning process.”

Seven to nine hours of sleep is the ideal amount for optimal performance. While that might seem like too many hours of studying to spare, your studying will be of a higher quality to compensate for the shorter quantity.

4. Get active

Nothing clears your mind like a good sweat session. While you may be tempted to use finals as an excuse to skip out on the gym for a week, try to stop in a couple times just to give your brain a break. “Continuing normal physical activity routines can be excellent for stress relief,” Conrad says.

Plus, you can get your Netflix fix by watching your favorite guilty pleasure while on the treadmill or elliptical.

5. Go for a walk (with intention)

If you just don’t have the energy for a full on workout or if you have been sitting stationary at your desk for hours, try going for a short walk around campus.

“It’s super important to not hole up indoors for 72 hours at a time,” Darby says. “You need to go outside.”

Conrad advises to walk with intention; notice the world around you, outside the library. Take in the beauty of your college campus and remember why you’re working so hard in the first place.

6. Try mindfulness or meditation

These techniques are great stress relievers and give your mind a chance to recharge and refocus. Starting your day off with a short meditation or mindfulness exercise sets you on track for productivity and memory recollection. If you’ve never tried mindfulness or meditation before, there are lots of great apps that lead you through short, guided sequences. Try HeadSpace or Calm.

7. Make your study breaks intentional

One thing Conrad emphasizes is on the importance of intention. “The ultimate self-care is finding balance within life's imbalance and being compassionate towards oneself,” she says. “Taking the time to intentionally find balance for yourself, especially in challenging times, demonstrates self-compassion.”

Make your studybreaks intentional, rather than just moments of weakness for you to scroll through Instagram. Use that time to engage in something that you love to do, even if it's only for a short period of time during your long study sessions.

8. Be kind to yourself

Self-care is practicing self-compassion, something college women don’t always make the time to do. If a friend was having trouble, we would react with support and kindness, but when we find ourselves in that situation, we don’t always show ourselves the same level of care.

“Self-compassion is simply compassion turned inward,” Conrad says. “It refers to the tendency to be reassuring toward ourselves and tolerant of our mistakes, rather than being harshly self-critical.  Practicing self-compassion enhances well-being by helping us cope more effectively with stress and easing our fear of failure.”

Calm your nerves once in a while with a deep breath and remind yourself of your many strengths. You deserve the support you give others, and in fact you need it to perform at your best. Do things that make you feel confident instead of increasing your fear of failure.

9. Incorporate power naps

Naps aren’t just for toddlers (or Corinne from The Bachelor). Power naps are real, and they are effective. A 20-minute nap is the ideal length for a short recharge for your mind, and can even help you better retain the information you’ve been poring over for hours.

10. Don’t panic

Looking at the massive amount of material you still have to go over and wondering how you will ever understand or remember any of it can set anyone into full-blown panic mode.

“As finals approach, many college women go into ‘panic mode’ and stop taking care of themselves,” Lieberman says. “They think they need to spend every minute sitting and studying, and forget that their well being affects their grades.”

Panicking does not actually help you do better. It just distracts you and keeps you from using your energy efficiently. Don’t let the daunting task ahead intimidate you. Take a deep breath, focus and take it one step (and page) at a time.

11. Check out de-stress events on campus

A lot of the time, campus clubs or university centers will conduct de-stressing events throughout finals week. Keep an eye out for flyers and Facebook events with free food, games, yoga and sometimes even puppies. Remember what we said about taking intentional study breaks to do something you enjoy.

12. Prioritize self-care daily, not just during stressful times

Often self-care gets pushed aside during our daily routine because there’s a misconception that it’s some kind of privilege that we just don’t deserve or don’t have time for. “Taking care of yourself—your physical health, stress level and other emotions—should be a year-round habit, not just for finals,” Lieberman says.

Post-finals week, if you find something that was helpful, don’t just forget about it until December or June rolls around. “Once you find something that works for you, work it into your regular routine and don't let it be the activity that gets cut out of your schedule when you get busy or stressed,” Conrad suggests. “Simply remember to be kind to yourself and give yourself time for you, especially during higher stress times.”

Self-care allows us to be at our best and most confident, both during and after finals week. It shouldn't be something that only gets prioritized when we are stressed.

“Make a list of the things you want to incorporate into your life to be at peak performance all the time, and schedule time for exercise, social support, meditation, vitamins and so on into your day,” Lieberman says.

Take a breath, take a walk, take a break or take a shower. Do whatever you need to feel refreshed, and then hit the books!
