Starbucks Introduces the New Latte Macchiato

If you’re getting sick and tired of your typical Starbucks order, you’re in luck. The coffee empire just introduced its newest drink to the permanent menu, the latte macchiato.

You may be wondering how it differs from the classic latte or the caramel macchiato. The latte macchiato, which came to Starbucks stores on Jan. 5, has three distinct layers.

According to Starbucks, the drink "features steamed whole milk that is perfectly aerated and free-poured creating dense foam reminiscent of meringue. The beverage is then marked by slowly-poured full espresso shots, creating a signature espresso dot." That's some pretty confusing coffee-speak, but it basically just means that the barista carefully pours espresso into milk to create layers.

The latte macchiato will be available in Starbucks across the U.S., Canada and some stores in Latin America.

If you enjoy coffee flavor (no, caramel Frappuccinos don’t count), you’ll definitely want to give the latte macchiato a try. Angus Maxwell, a certified coffee master who works at a Starbucks in Brooklyn, told Cosmopolitan: "Anyone who likes just a bold drip coffee, maybe this is their entry into trying something with a little more milk."

Whether you’re into cappuccinos, Americanos or chai teas, the latte macchiato is the perfect opportunity to try something different. Maybe it will even become your new fave. If you try it tomorrow, let us know what you think!
