Chris Pine is ALL About Female Superheroes

It’s no secret that the superhero film industry is dominated by male actors. Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Christian Bale and Chris Hemsworth are just a few actors who have graced the big screen with their popular superhero characters. While we absolutely adore these guys, we can’t help but be bothered by the fact that there is a seriously lacking number of female-driven superhero heroes. Yes, Catwoman and Elektra have been given the superhero film treatment, but that’s simply not enough.

When DC Comics announced a Wonder Woman film starring Gal Gadot, we instantly rejoiced. Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most iconic female superheroes, and it’s about time that we started seeing more badass females in action. And as if we needed ANOTHER reason to call Chris Pine bae, he has just voiced his complete support of Gal taking on the lead role in a superhero film. In a recent interview, Chris (who will play Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s love interest) said, “I couldn’t be happier to be supporting Gal [Gadot] in what’s going to be the first female-driven superhero film.” Moreover, Chris seems to feel perfectly fine with taking a backseat role. “I think in the world today we’ve had plenty enough of male-driven everything,” he said. “It’s finally time to see how wonderful the world can be with beautiful, strong, intelligent women kicking some major ass.” We 100 percent agree with Chris. (Side note: Is he single?)

Scheduled to be released on June 23, 2017, we can only hope that Wonder Woman will pave the way for more female-led superhero films!
