Playboy Will No Longer Feature Nude Models

When you think of Playboy, you probably think of their reputation for publishing naked pictures of women. But that's no longer what the magazine's going for.

"As part of a redesign that will be unveiled next March, the print edition of Playboy will still feature women in provocative poses. But they will no longer be fully nude,"the New York Times reports.

Since Internet pornography is so easy to access these days, there is no longer a demand for nude images in print. While Playboy and other magazines used to be extremely popular with teens, they have been replaced by smart phones and laptops. According to the Alliance for Audited Media, Playboy's circulation has dropped from 5.6 million in 1975 to 800,000 currently.

Playboy's website got rid of nudes last year—causing younger readers to flock to the site and traffic to jump dramatically. So it's understandable why the magazine will now do the same.

The magazine will now feature images similar to the ones on their Instagram, which were modified to abide by nudity policies. Although this is a big change, it makes sense. Playboy has no reason to feature nudes in their publication when naked pictures are so easily accessible elsewhere on the internet, and when it's clear younger readers prefer less racy images.

What do you think about this change, collegiettes?
