Scott Walker Dropped Out of the Presidential Race

The Republican party couldn’t sustain so many candidates forever. Gov. Scott Walker became one of the first to go when he announced his withdrawal from the presidential race Monday night at a press conference in Madison, Wis.

Walker spoke of the need for the Republican party to return to a more optimistic view, saying that this election season had devolved into personal attacks and a focus on the negative.

“Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive, conservative message can rise to the top of the field,” he said. “With this in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately.”

He encouraged other Republican candidates to consider dropping out of the race as well, “so that the voters can focus on a limited number of candidates.” Seems pretty unlikely that anyone will take him up on that.

The New York Times reports that Walker was running out of campaign money and had dropped in the polls, leading him to the decision that staying in the race wasn't worth it.

Well, this narrows the GOP playing field…sort of. Now the question is, who's going to get Walker's endorsement?
