National Signing Day is an important day for many high school students, as it's the first day they can officially sign a letter of intent to play at a certain college or university. Wednesday was National Signing Day for schools all across the country, and one particularly cool signing happened to be Solomon Thomas' signing to Stanford.
Thomas is one of America's top football recruits in the nation. He is a defensive end from Coppell, Texas, and he had to pick between three schools: University of Arkansas, Stanford and UCLA. In the end, he chose Stanford. According to BuzzFeed he, "pick[ed] Stanford in the most Stanford way possible."
So how exactly did he do this? Instead of announcing his pick in a conventional way (like putting on your future school's hat), Thomas put a tiny Stanford tree on the table where he was sitting and grabbed a pair of nerdy taped glasses.
NBC sports column College Football Talk states, "The clever theatrics aside, Thomas is a significant get for the Cardinal. A Rivals.com four-star recruit, Thomas is rated as the No. 3 end in the country and the No. 4 player in the talent-rich state of Texas. He’s rated as the No. 37 player at any position in the nation."
We at Her Campus want to wish Thomas and all of the other recruits the best of luck as they get started with their college althletic journeys! What were your favorite moments from National Signing Day?
