Pinterest has become a namesake in the ever-evolving market that is social media, as well as a vessel that showcases that new recipe you’ve been dying to try out or perhaps those new leggings that were just released online. And now, Pinterest wants to expand opportunities for both women and minorities.

In a blog post on Pinterest’s website, co-founder and CEO Evan Sharp details the company’s mission to bring in more women and people of color onto their staff in 2016, according to Jezebel. The company wants to increase its engineering sector to have 30 percent of women and eight percent of minorities, as well as implement the “Rooney Rule” which calls for one person of each underrepresented race and one woman to be interviewed for any possible leadership position. For non-engineering spots, Pinterest wants to increase the percentage of underrepresented people of color to 12 percent.

The company has already hired Susan Kare, who has worked extensively on Apple logos, to head their product design. “By sharing these goals publicly, we’re holding ourselves accountable to make meaningful changes to how we approach diversity at Pinterest,” says Sharp. “Over time, we hope to help build an industry that is truly diverse, and by extension more inclusive, creative and effective.”
