Everyone’s a sucker for animated movies that are bound to make you feel all the feels—no one will ever forget the likes of Toy Story, Up and even Monsters Inc. But these classics need to move over, because the newest Pixar movie is showing every single one of them how it’s done. Recent release Inside Out has been crushing it in the box office—while receiving insanely high praise. This heartwarming tearjerker is, by far, the best Pixar movie ever made, and here’s why:
The movie features a female protagonist, Riley, who is a unique character in herself; her love for hockey and her family, as well as her adorable humor, makes her easy to fall in love with.
Of course, Riley’s awesomeness can be attributed to her colorful emotions residing in her mind. Here we find a protective Fear, passionate Anger, socialite Disgust, thoughtful Sadness and energetic Joy.
And honestly, there were way too many times when we could relate to all of the emotions—especially Sadness’s tendency to flop on the ground.
But of course, there is one character that steals the show…the one and only Bing Bong.
I mean, who doesn’t love an imaginary friend who is part cat, part elephant, part cotton candy, part dolphin and cries candy?? Plus, he's the comedic act that provides all the laughs the movie needs.
Bing Bong’s story hits way too close to home, and his final scene is 100% guaranteed to rip your heart out and tear it to pieces.
In the end, he reminds viewers that it’s okay to grow up, and childhood memories will always stay with you (cue sobbing).
But the bittersweet moments don’t end there. The unexpected team of Sadness and Joy is left to work together to save the day, despite their obvious differences.
Eventually they realize that Sadness is just as important as Joy, and life can only work properly with both of them intertwined. The major theme of the movie is one of the best ever created: it’s okay to be sad. In fact, it’s the way life goes. But even though sadness is a crucial aspect of life, joy will always be around to help you through it.
And there you have it—the most epic Pixar movie to date. It’s no wonder that the film was so successful in theatres; in fact, it was the best debut for an original movie in Hollywood history. Pixar hit home with the theme, and it is one that is entirely unique, and essential, to children viewers. So if you haven’t seen Inside Out, you clearly need to do so as soon as possible...just make sure you prepare yourself for a roller coaster of emotions!
