Something extremely exciting (and long overdue) just went down in the Supreme Court—gay marriage is now officially legal throughout the United States!
America is officially so done with same-sex relationships being seen as invalid or inferior, and has been for quite some time now. A recent poll revealed that over 6 in 10 Americans are all for marriage equality, and a 5-4 ruling in the Supreme Court has officially answered our prayers. Thanks to some amazing Supreme Court justices, families raised by same-sex couples will now finally have the legal rights of other families, and same-sex unions will be recognized as legal and entirely equal to any other marriage nationwide.
Up until now, same-sex couples in thirteen states were still facing bans against legal marriage. Luckily, the barriers these couples have faced have been destroyed, as the new ruling overturns state bans in favor of national acceptance. Now, America joins a multitude of other countries—mostly European—that have also legalized gay marriage. With the Netherlands being the first country to officially legalize same-sex marriage way back in 2001, it's about time that we did too!
