You know summer is right around the corner when you’re looking up new lemonade recipes on Pinterest and playing “Summertime Sadness” on loop. But you’re not ready for sandal season until you’ve picked out the perfect mani-pedi combo to show off those toes in style! We’ve assembled some of the easiest at-home treatements to get those piggies ready to be primped and pretty.
1. Moisturize
The simplest step is the most important step. Make sure you are taking good care of your feet by moisturizing daily. We like Burt Bees’ Peppermint Foot Lotion ($9). This is especially important after showering.
2. Overnight sock treatment
This might sound a little odd, but using a moisturizer and wearing socks to bed is a surefire way to wake up with soft feet! Apply Vaseline or lotion, massaging your feet as you do so. Put on a pair of fluffy socks and tell your dry feet goodbye!
3. Foot soak
Think of this as a relaxing hot tea for your toes. Combine dried herbs of your choosing (lavender, sage, mint, etc.) into a sachet. Place into a footbath or tub with warm water. Dip your feet in and relax! Alternatively, you can use essential oils.
4. Foot scrub
Sugar scrubs aren’t just for your face. They work wonders for feet, too! Some of the most popular scrubs are made up with incredients like lemon and sugar, mouthwash and epsom salt (for real!) and coconut oil. Whip up your own jar of scrub for silky smooth feet. They would make great DIY gifts too!
5. Foot peel
A slightly gross but effective option, foot peels remove dead skin cells from the bottom of your feet. The gross factor is that you experience a lot of shedding. But the results are fresh-faced feet that simply beg for a pedi. Baby Foot ($25) is the most popular choice!
