Whoever decided beachy waves are actually a good style for the beach has clearly never been near an ocean. If you've ever jumped in the water with those mermaid-like waves, you'll know that not only have you ruined the style, you've also created a tangled mess that looks nothing like what beach waves are supposed to look like. Whether you're headed to the beach or are sunning by the pool this spring break, your week-long vacay is bound to be full of action and fun—which means you need a hairstyle that will stay put no matter what you're doing. Here are our favorites:
1. Fishtail braid
For those of you ladies with long hair, keep it out of your face with a gorgeous fishtail braid. When the sun sets and you're ready for a night out with friends, take it out to reveal effortless waves!
2. Top knot
If you're a sporty girl that plans on riding the waves or playing some beach volleyball, throw your hair up into a super simple top knot. Bonus: With all the super-active things you're doing, you'll have a few strands fall out around your face—and by the end of the day, you'll have an adorable messy bun perfect for a night out.
3. Pigtail french braids
This hairstyle is especially convenient for collegiettes with bangs or shorter hair because you'll keep all those smaller strands in place, even if you're running around on the beach!
4. Twist to ponytail
Keep your flyaways away from your face by twisting them back into a ponytail, either one side or both. Make sure to tie your hair tie really tight so your ponytail stays in place while you're jumping in the pool!
5. Milkmaid braid
Part your hair down the middle, braid the two sides, and pull them across the top of your head. Secure the ends with bobby pins and you're ready to hit the beach with a cute and flirty hairstyle! You can customize this based on what your day's activities are; if you're going to be hitting the waves, make your braids a little tighter; or, if you're going low-key, pull out a few front pieces (like you see in the tutorial above) to frame your face!
Which hairstyles will you be putting to the test this spring break, collegiettes?
