Scrunchies, Spice Girls, body glitter... you know where this is headed. We’re taking a trip down memory lane to relive the products of yesteryear that made us the beauty junkies we are today. Keep scrolling for a major #TBT that’s sure to spark some bittersweet memories.
1. Maybelline Great Lash
Sold at nearly every store check out, the pink and green tube of Maybelline mascara ($4) that can be spotted from miles away has been perfecting collegiettes’ fluttery fringes since its debut (try 43 years ago)—life just wouldn't be the same without it.
2. Body Glitter
All who used to slather body glitter on their bodies, raise your hands. Since that’s everyone, allow us to introduce to you an updated version—NYX Cosmetics Roll On Shimmer ($4), which can be used on your eyes, face and body.
3. Sun In
Your ticket to highlights or ombré strands without paying a pretty penny? Sun In’s tropical-scented hair lighteners ($5). Forgo a trip to the salon and pick up a bottle at your local Walgreens or Ulta.
4. Bath & Body Works
Who ever said it was okay to walk around smelling like a mixture of cucumber and melon? Admittedly, most of us. Bath & Body Works’ cucumber melon everything—body lotion ($11), shower gel ($11) and fragrance mist ($13)—is still going strong since its heyday of the '90s. We won't lie though, we kind of miss the old packaging (and probably have some old bottles lying around from when we used to stock up at the Semi-Annual Sales).
5. Hard Candy
When matching your nails to your ring was a thing, there was Hard Candy Nail Polish ($3)—and fortunately, there still is. Though they no longer come with a ring (tear), you can pick up a sleek bottle of their funky colors at Walmart.
6. L'Oréal Kids Shampoo
Before a shampoo for every hair type imaginable entered our lives, the neon fish bottle reigned supreme (occasionally filling in for rubber ducky). The next time you’re in the mood for some splish-splashin’ in the bath, head over to Bed Bath & Beyond or Walgreens.
7. Bonne Bell Lip Smackers
We saved the best for last: Dr. Pepper-flavored Lip Smacker ($2) chapstick, because any product that moisturizes lips and satisfies a sweet tooth (sans added sugar) will forever be dear to our hearts. Get any of the yummy chapsticks during your next trip to Target or at drugstore.com!
