When it comes to planning the perfect Halloween outfit, we couldn’t be more excited (for what other than the IG-worthy selfies to be snapped?). But often, our costume-finding efforts fall to wayside. Luckily, for the procrastinators and lazy alike, there is makeup to transform any haphazard costume from drab to fab. If wearing a pair of cat ears is your idea of a costume, it’s time you upped your trick-or-treat game. Curious? Keep scrolling to see how!
1. Leopard Lids
Make a fierce feline costume out of your favorite LBD with a leopard-inspired eyeshadow look that even the most uninitiated collegiette can recreate. First, swipe a copper eyeshadow (bronze or gold will work too) all over your lid. Extend the color slightly beyond the eyes toward your temples and under your lower lash line. Next, define the crease with a darker shade of bronze. Complete the look by adding four to five dots on your outer crease with a black kohl eyeliner or stick (we recommend NYX’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean) and smudge the spots using a clean finger.
2. Ombré Lips
Go ombré or go home—we’re gushing over these futuristic and gilded pouts created with vegan artistry line Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ lip tars. Click here for recipes and step-by-step directions to achieving these vibrant, dual-toned lips from OCC’s founder David Klasfeld. This goes with any costume—something scary and vampy or bright and fun.
3. Color Mascara
For collegiettes who haven’t mastered the cat-eye yet (darn you, unsteady hand) and aren’t willing to go through a handful of Q-tips to get it right on the night of Halloween, color mascara is for you. Hard Candy’s 1,000 Lashes Fiber Mascara ($6) comes in seven eye-popping shades. Use a different color on your top and bottom lashes for an electrifying effect.
4. Temporary Lip Tattoos
Temporary lip tattoos by Violent Lips are the procrastinator’s Halloween-beauty holy grail. Spice up any costume by dressing your pucker in leopard, rainbow, polka dots, glitter and a variety of other patterns. Each lip tattoo last four to eight hours. All lip sizes welcome!
5. Dramatic Cat-Eye
Quick and easy, this kitty cat-eye look only calls for three products: black eyeliner, faux lashes and black lipstick (we love Limecrime’s liquid-to-matte Lipstick in Black Velvet, $20). Add a pair of ears and you’re ready to go!
