Summer is that glorious time when you can spend all day in your backyard snacking on cool treats. It's also the time to open a book (or a few) and start reading. You may have a summer reading list prepped and a shipment from your local book store coming in soon — but you should definitely consider reading the book that best matches your zodiac sign too. And as a true Cancer and unofficial book expert, you have to believe me.

Aries: All Your Twisted Secrets by Diana Urban

This book is an adventure for an Aries reader. All Your Twisted Secrets tells the story of five New York high school students who win a scholarship and get to have dinner with the mayor. When they attend the dinner, they find a bomb, a syringe and a letter stating that they have to kill someone in an hour — or they all die. The book is an exciting edge-of-your-seat story, perfect for Aries since you’re energetic and love the daring adventures life has to offer.

Taurus: A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

A looooong book is a good read for Taurus. A Game of Thrones tells the story of House Stark joining forces with House Baratheon after the death of the hand of the king, forming an alliance that will change the kingdoms. Across the sea, House Targaryen is trying to form an alliance to the Dothraki. This book is an amazing 819-page read for any Taurus, patient in your nature. Since Taurus is also an Earth sign and this book involves the fight of land, it can help you channel your element.

Gemini: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy tells the story of Arthur Dent and his friend Ford Prefect adventuring through space after escaping the explosion of Earth. They encounter many characters, including Trillian (also known as Arthur’s ex-girlfriend Tricia McMillian), her new boyfriend and his robot. I’ve only watched the movie and if the book and the movie are similar, then this is made for a Gemini. This story has two sides to it, like Gemini — a dark side and a happy side. This story is also philosophical because of the questions it asks, which will pick at any Gemini’s intuitive brain.

Cancer: The Lucky Ones by Liz Lawson

This one was a hard choice, Because I’m a Cancer myself. So I have to say that this book is a fit for everything Cancer stands for. The Lucky Ones tells the story of May, a survivor of a school shooting, and Zach, a kid who lost everything when his mother defended the culprit. This book talks about survivor’s guilt, feeling lost, being able to trust and find love again. It's hard for a Cancer to trust and love at first sight, because we have to build that love and trust with someone and when we do, we trust and love fully. But when that trust and love is compromised, it can be hard to do again.

Leo: The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

This iconic story follows Frodo Baggins who is entrusted with the safety of one of the Rings of Power that once fell into the hands of his elder cousin, Bilbo Baggins. Now, Frodo must travel to the Cracks of Doom to destroy the Ring and weaken the Dark Lord. Leo signs will often find themselves relating to Frodo, since he is the focus of the book — and Leo likes to be the center of attention.

Virgo: The Vinyl Underground by Rob Rufus

The Vinyl Underground takes place in 1968 and involves a group of four people (Ronnie, “Ramrod,” Milo and Hana) who form a record club fittingly called “The Vinyl Underground.” They’re able to be together and escape daily life of their southern town. Virgo people are curious and love to learn new things,  and this story is ideal because it provides insight into what the times were like during the Vietnam War, all from the perspective of teenagers who were drafted. This book is also extremely detail oriented, another thing Virgos will be obsessed with. If you know, you know.

Libra: Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

This book tells the story of — you guess it — Eleanor and Park, who are experiencing the highs and lows of first love with each other. I am in the middle of this book right now and it is always a hard read to put down. You might be wondering why I put this as a read for Libra, instead of my own sign Cancer. But that's because Libras are always trying to expand their own identities, and since this story surrounds two high school students on journeys of self-discovery, it works out.

Scorpio: The Guest List by Lucy Foley

The Guest List is about a bride and a groom having a wedding off the coast of Ireland. The groom is a famous television star, and the bride works as a publisher for a magazine. As they celebrate their wedding, they find a body and so begins the mystery — whodunit and why? This book is great for Scorpios who can sense fake people from a mile away. You will love trying to identify the killer and the dark themes involved in a murder mystery.

Sagittarius: You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle

This story is about Naomi and Nicholas, an engaged couple preparing for their wedding day that’s three months away. Naomi thinks Nicholas is perfect but fears commitment, so she wants out — and Nicholas does too. With neither wanting to pay for the non-refundable wedding bill, they try to make it work by pranking each other. Naomi is a big Sagittarius character, with her fear of commitment and independent personality. She is a character that you can relate to, and you will learn a little something about how to commit in a relationship.

Capricorn: Be Not Far From Me by Mindy McGinnis

Be Not Far From Me tells the story of Ashley, who is trying to survive in the woods with an infection after taking a nasty fall from the drunken rage she experienced after seeing her boyfriend with another girl. This book is all about survival, which challenges the mind of a rule-abiding Capricorn. While this story is all about Ashley, this book lets Capricorn dive into the story and test their straightforward ways too. Would you follow Ashley’s survival path, or would you do things differently?

Aquarius: The Lasaran by Dianne Duvall

This science-fiction story has romance, humor and action. Taelon is searching the galaxy for his younger sister, and discovers she is on Earth. But when Taelon goes to Earth, he is captured for the use of experiments, until he hears the voice of Lisa and she hears his voice. Lisa frees Taelon and they escape. They become friends and begin the search for Taelon’s sister. Aquarius is a unique sign, so a story filled with a lot of themes is a perfect read for you.

Pisces: Into the Tall, Tall Grass by Loriel Ryon

Everyone is Yolanda’s family has a magical gift, except for her. Her grandmother, Wela wakes from a strange sleep and tells Yolanda to go to the last pecan tree, and so Yolanda’s sister, ex-best friend and crush all set out on journey where she finds out her family gift is actually a family curse. This story hones in on Pisces creativity in their own world, a magical and imaginative place. Yolanda is a character full of Pisces nature who is smart, creative, expressive of emotion, and a natural leader.
