Whether you’re an underclassman or about to graduate, the world needs your innovative ideas more than ever. And while life may seem at a standstill, I found an amazing and free (!) way you can get ahead in your career without leaving your house. Enter Skillsoft’s digital experience, Perspectives 2020, on May 12th and 13th, where you can hear from world-class speakers and learn new skills from experts across industries. If you’re eager to learn all the new things during your time at home, RSVP here and join me ~virtually~ at Perspectives 2020. Here’s what I’m most excited for:
Ally Watson
Getting to hear from Ally Watson, CEO of Code Like A Girl
Perspectives 2020 is a global 24-hour digital experience that starts in Australia and ‘follows the sun’ all the way to San Francisco, so if you’re based in the USA the programming actually begins in the evening on May 12th. If you’re a night owl like me, hit pause on your TV and tune into Ally Watson’s keynote at 11:30 pm EST. This inspiring narrative will follow Ally’s journey at the social enterprise, as she dedicated her time to providing girls with the tools, knowledge, and support to enter and flourish in the world of coding.
Paul Stuart
To feel inspired by author Tara Westover
If you still haven’t picked up a copy of Tara Westover’s memoir, Educated, hearing her speak will surely have you clicking ‘add to cart.’ Our Her Campus community is obsessed with her book that follows her educational journey from isolation in the mountains of Idaho to the world stage. On May 13th at 10:45 am EST, she’ll be discussing how she didn’t step foot in a classroom until she was 17-years-old, and how she taught herself enough to get into college despite having no formal training. Her thirst for knowledge ultimately propelled her across the ocean to earn a PhD from Cambridge University.
For free access to Percipio
The learning doesn’t need to stop when Perspectives 2020 all-day digital experience ends. Skillsoft is offering all students and educators a free 90-day membership to their exclusive learning platform. Percipio’s knowledge paths range from machine learning to leadership (powered by MIT Sloan Management Review!) all of which can help you gain a leg up for your next interview or career move.
