It seems like style bloggers live their lives like an open book on Instagram — you're always in the loop on what outfit they're sporting that day or what new brunch spot they're trying, along with whatever happenings they have in store for their day. But, what does a day in the life of a fashion blogger really look like? You know, the real behind the scenes and not what you see on the 'gram.

Spoiler alert: it’s not as glamorous as you might think, especially not for an up-and-coming fashion blogger. One of my goals is to become a full-time blogger in the next couple of years. Even though this isn’t my full-time job yet, I work as if it is now. So, to give you a look behind-the-Instagram look at what a fashion blogger's day-to-day looks like, follow along!

Getting ready for the day

Of course, as a fashion blogger, the first part of the day is my look of the day! For my hair and makeup, I decided to keep it simple, as usual. I love big hair, so for today’s look, I decided to put wand curls on top of my natural curly hair. I used a ⅜ inch curling wand. For my makeup, I used a very small amount of mascara and eyeshadow.

Now, for the outfit — I went with a simple chic look. I love wearing simple tops paired with interesting jeans and cute booties. If I’m not wearing sneakers, this is my go-to outfit. I mean, how cute do these paper bag jeans look with the leopard booties?!

Behind the scenes of shooting

Shooting is my favorite part of the day, especially because I take all of my pictures by myself. Yup, seriously. You know the saying, if you want something done right, just do it yourself? Starting this year, I decided to start using a tripod to take all my pictures and it was the best decision I could’ve made. To take the picture, I use my 50” inch tripod, a Bluetooth shutter remote, a phone tripod connector, and my iPhone XR. I absolutely love the way my pictures come out using the tripod and strongly suggest that everyone tries it out!

Editing photos

Next, I choose my favorites pictures and edit them. I use the VSCO app to edit all of my pictures with a preset I made on the app — this adds a very natural look to my pictures. Here is a raw and edited picture next to each other!

Styling outfits and planning out my feed

Okay, I know I said shooting is my favorite part of the day, but this part comes to a really close second. Styling is so much fun for me! I can spend hours putting together outfits. First, I use Pinterest for inspiration. Next, I look at my Instagram feed to see what creative direction I want to go with it. Then, I search my favorite brands, like Forever 21 and Boohoo, to find new pieces.

Despite all the hard work that goes into being a blogger, I absolutely love doing it. In a few short years, all the money, time, and effort I put into it will pay off, in all aspects of life. So, if you're looking to pursue a career in blogging, don’t ever give up on a dream. Both the behind-the-scenes and the final product you see on Insta are well worth the hard work.
