The Most WTF Runway Moments We Can't Forget Even If We Wanted To

It's only the start of February but we've already been #BLESSED with some unusual runway moments lately. And to think, Fashion Month hasn't officially kicked off yet! With a full month of runway shows ahead of us, I'm intrigued about what other oddities will parade down the runways this upcoming season. If these are an indicator of where fashion is going in 2019, we're in for a real treat.

We're here for some wild runway trends like the next person — I mean, taking risks can yield some serious reward. But it feels like some brands just go a little too far when pushing the envelope. We're remembering the most retweet-worthy, WTF runway moments from 2019 so far. Prepare yourself, because sh*t's about to get weird.

1. Tailgate chic

fw19-20 women’s @off____white™ collection titled “Do You Cheer?”

Not sure what to wear to your next tailgate? According to Virgil Abloh, football helmets, floral onesies and fringe boots are going to be the ~lewk~ come this fall. The whole sports themed Fall '19 Collection at Off-White had me practicing my touchdown dance.

2. This conveyor belt runway

While Dior may say the inspiration behind the conveyor belt at their Fall '19 Menswear show was "blazing a path into fashion's future," I'm convinced it's really those moving walkways in airports. But for real, can they put one of these conveyor belts between my dorm and my 8 am?

3. Bridal swimwear

I never knew I wanted to wear a swimsuit on my wedding day until now. Chanel's Spring '19 Couture show had destination brides drooling over this hand-embroidered bathing suit. While the rest of the show featured plays on iconic Chanel suits and dresses, the show-closer was outside of the Chanel norm. I don't know about you, but pool party themed weddings are a trend I can really get behind.

4. Bubblewrap suits

When asked about his use of bubble wrap as a high fashion fabric, Thom Browne explained, "We use bubble wrap for shipping back and forth our collection. So I was making a logistical fabric into clothes. Everything on the runway is for sale!" Side note, who wore it better: the models at Thom Browne or this girl whose hair froze in the Polar Vortex?

5. This helium balloon bride

Greek designer Celia Kritharioti closed her show with this jaw-dropping balloon lifted veil. Using over 20 helium-filled balloons, the model's veil literally floated down the runway. I'd like to know how many people it took to wrangle this thing backstage.

Honestly, we sometimes stop to ask ourselves, "were these runway stunts ultimately a good meme or low-key genius?" Either way, we totally get a kick out of them regardless and can't wait to see what shows in 2019 are going to cause a stir on Twitter.
